Let's check this hour's top business stories and the markets, well in less than 24 hours, the fed will face a tough choice as to whether or not to high interest rates or hold them steady. Bloomberg's Michael McKee has a preview. This is the first meeting in a very long time where nobody on Wall Street really knows what the fed will do. Two weeks ago, it was a question of whether they raised rates half or a quarter percentage point, but disruptions to the banking system now have many investors betting the Central Bank won't raise rates at all. Financial shares have calmed a bit in the last two days, and markets have almost gotten back to pricing one quarter point move. Do fed officials still need to do crisis management or can they go back to their focus on inflation, which remains far above target. Almost as important, what do they say about future rate moves and how they're tightening cycle and the banks have affected the outlook for inflation, growth, and unemployment. That is Bloomberg's Michael McKee. Well, we are told Wall Street leaders along with U.S. officials are discussing an intervention at first republic bank. Bloomberg's Denise Pellegrini is tracking developments. Wall Street leaders in U.S. officials have been discussing an intervention at the troubled San Francisco bank, and now we're hearing they're actually exploring the possibility of government backing to encourage a deal. Sources tell us a group is floated a variety of measures to make the company more attractive to potential investors or a buyer, including the government playing a role in lifting assets out of first republic that have eroded its balance sheet. Additional ideas were being told of included offering liability protection, applying capital rules more flexibly, or even easing limits on ownership stakes, and the sources say this is all part of an effort to ensure there isn't another U.S. bank failure. That Denise Pellegrini reporting well after the bell in the U.S. Nike reported quarterly sales rose 14%, the company made progress in dealing with a supply glut that forced it to discount merchandise and that's why profitability missed estimates weaker demand in China also persisted revenue for Greater China fell nearly 8% here as Bloomberg goyle. China didn't do as well as everyone had expected, but it was still up 1% on a constant currency basis. And I think the key would China is not the quarter that they reported, but the quarters that they will report in the coming year because that's when we really think China will show a meaningful bounce back given that's when COVID restrictions were actually eased. So we're still very optimistic on China. Bloomberg's punam goil their Nike shares were down nearly 2.3% in U.S. trading. We check markets every 15 minutes here on Bloomberg in Hong Kong, the hang seng up nearly 2.7% in the nikkei last quoted up 1.8%, the cost be higher by 1%, similar gain in Sydney for the ASX 200, Shanghai composite right now, up by 7 tenths of 1%. "5 black Memphis police officers are charged with murder in the killing of black man Tyree Nichols at the left still says it's systemic racism, a highly touted think tank that promoted the Russian collusion narrative was a hoax, but the media promoted them anyway. And the media tried to excuse a Palestinian Arab murdering 7 Jewish synagogue goers all in the name of peace. I'm Ben Shapiro, this is the Ben Shapiro show. Today's show is sponsored by ExpressVPN. Do you like your web history being seen until advertisers? No, me neither. And ExpressVPN right now at ExpressVPN dot com slash Ben. Well, as we've discussed many times in the past year on the Ben Shapiro show, narrative trumps all when it comes to the left wing. And it never has this been drawer. And in the case of Tyree Nichols, Harry Nichols was a 29 year old black man whose hospitalized with a confrontation after a confrontation with police during a traffic stop earlier this month, the officers were then fired this in Memphis, Tennessee. They were accused of using excessive force in an encounter that was captured on the video. We're going to go through the video because it's kind of important to see what exactly was going on. The key fact here, because again, narrative means everything to the left is that the 5 police officers who have now been charged, they were all arrested on charges, including second degree murder. Their names are terrorists being Demetrius Haley Emmet Martin the third, Desmond mills junior and Justin Smith. They were all arrested, and they were all black. And the victim in this particular case was also black. This does not stop the left from claiming that white supremacy is to blame, because white supremacy is the ghost in the machine. It is responsible for literally everything in life. Just as to the feminist movement, everything in the world is the patriarchy to the left when it comes to race every single thing is white supremacy, even if it is black police officers who are beating and effectively killing a black man. That is still white supremacy. One of the worst things about politics is that single factor analysis tends to be. The most easily available, way of approaching politics, and it's also the worst way. People tend to think very simplistically about politics just as they think about other things in their life. And so if you are a hammer in search of a nail, everything looks like a nail. And so if you are a left winger on race, everything looks like white supremacy. If you're a feminist, everything looks like the patriarchy. If your Marxist everything looks like class warfare. Now the reality is that life is much more complicated than that, that there are a bunch of different forces that play on individuals in our world and that it's a combination of those forces and the individual decisions made by those individuals that leads to particular action. But when it comes to politics, the easiest thing is to blame some sort of gigantic force and then say that you are fighting that force and if you fight that force properly, well, then this thing never would have happened. If your Marxist, if you just fight the predations of capitalism, well then all evil will go away. If you're a feminist and you fight the patriarchy, all evils will go away. We'll alleviate the generalized condition and all of the evils go away. Well, as we'll see, this is not the case in Memphis, Tennessee, not by a long shot. Hey, so what exactly happened in the case of Tyree Nichols? Well, we now have video of the traffic stop. Apparently, according to the videos, you can see that Tyree Nichols was pulled over by the cops. And they stopped their cars in front and in back of him. And then they tell him to get on the ground. And he sits down, he's not sure exactly what is meant by get on the ground, and they tell him they want to lie on the ground. They're yelling orders at him. He's apparently trying kind of have to comply. At a certain point, he just runs away. First point, never run away from the cops. This does not end well, running from the cops is a stupid thing to do. This is not alleviate any of the evils of the police officers who are rightly being charged with aggravated assault, and some of them being charged with second degree murder. But many factors lead up to a situation in which the police do something like this. So you can see in the video, what exactly happened? There are multiple camera angles. And in this particular case, what you see is that Tyree Nichols is pulled over. One of the questions in this particular case is whether he was pulled over for a good reason or a bad reason why they had reasonable suspicion to pull him over or not. He did not have a prior criminal record. It is not clear why exactly they pulled him over. I'm sure that's going to be the defense's case at trial because one of the things that some of the police officers are being charged with here is kidnapping, meaning that it was sort of arrested under false pretenses. They pulled him over for no apparent reason, is sort of the implication here. And so before they actually release the tape. And before we found out all the details, the Memphis police chief actually came out preemptively and said it was worse than Rodney King, which is not something that police chiefs should be saying. The reason they should not be saying this is it sets the stage for riots. What they should say is these police officers have already been arrested. They have already been charged. Most of them will go to jail undoubtedly. This is how the justice system is supposed to work is that when this stuff emerges, people get arrested and they go to jail. Instead, when you start ratcheting up the tensions, you are leading the way to something that is going to look very much like street violence because this is exactly what we saw in Ferguson, Missouri.

"7 after the hour President Biden was in Virginia yesterday, saying his economic plan is working. John stones has more from Washington. New government data released yesterday, showing the nation's gross domestic product for the final quarter of last year grew, despite high inflation that is making everything more expensive. At a speech in Springfield, Virginia, President Biden says these are encouraging numbers. And I'm not sure. I mean, it's sincerely the news could have been any better. Economic growth is up, stronger than expert expected at 2.9%. We're going. That 2.9% was a bit lower than the 3.2% growth we saw in the third quarter. But the president touting other numbers that he says shows a growing economy. 6 months inflation has gone down every month and God willing will continue to do that. Manufacturing jobs continue to grow stronger than any time in the last 40 years. And I don't think it's unfair to say that this is all evidence that the Biden economic plan because you all is actually working that's working. Jobs numbers continue to be strong last year employers added four and a half million jobs. Second most since 1940 and the unemployment rate for December of three and a half percent matched a 53 year low. They've been telling me since I got elected. We're going to be in a recession. Every time we've gone, we gotten better. Well, it turns out, thank God they were wrong. Still, many analysts do believe a recession is coming this year, as the Federal Reserve continues to raise key interest rates in an attempt to slow down the economy and tamp down on inflation. Another potential pitfall, the debt ceiling, which analysts say, could trigger a deep recession if Congress does not vote to raise it, something House Republicans say they will only do when Democrats offer key concessions on spending. Look, if Republicans want to work together on real solutions and continue to grow manufacturing jobs, build the strongest economy in the world to make sure Americans are paid a fair wage, I'm ready. But I will not let anyone use the full faith and credit of the United States as a bargaining ship. Your United States of America, we pay our debts. The Treasury Department says a vote on the debt limit will need to happen likely by June and the fed is expected to raise rates again next week, something likely to cool the job market and reduce American spending. Mulroy says he'll release the police videos of the traffic, stop Friday evening.
