"You know the one thing playing does talking about Levy on ballots. It's differ for a guy that's nineteen twenty years old but just maintaining that edge and that that talent right he is. He's redlining right now he's. He's arguably the best offense skill guy in all college football. Well. How do you maintain that working out on your own like that? There's no way around it like that will be a challenge and I'm sure he'll. You'll have a top-flight agent they'll get them with the top flight trainer but listen we know training and playing football or not the same. They're just not and that's why I think. We see all these injuries which will get in here in a little bit Cooper cups banged up right now for the rams. Again. I can't wait for that Dallas Rams Game Week one. Here's what I'll say about Cooper I sean mcvay said today that's not a sprained ankle. He's very, very important to the success of the rams. He had ninety four catches and ten touchdowns last year. You know to me when I watched him, they're big issue, their offense going to be fine. Their defense was had issues last year offensively he's Joerg ops guy I'm pretty sure they are very very close off the field and he is an elite slot receiver I. Mean He is a bowler. This was shitty news because if you watch hard knocks and if you see the numbers, how many people are I think the episode three hard knocks is the least amount of people that have ever watched hard knocks. Now, I don't know if that counts someone like me who watched it I watched it on my ipad. So I don't know if account streaming, but I've enjoyed it now it's not like some hard hitting Rex Ryan. Bill O'Brien swear fast. It just an easy watch, but it's very star studded and I would say beside Aaron Donald in Joey Bosa Derwin James like the best player in the two teams and you could argue I if you knew like. Anthony Lynn get them off the record or whatever niece who's the best player on your team it's not inconceivable that he said, Darwin. James. Now the tangible. What we know it'd be Bosa played way more, but it was pretty clear after year one, the Derwin James had a chance to be like on all timer..

Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James expected to miss 2020 season after knee injury, per reports

"The Los Angeles chargers. Yeah we mentioned. Like the the injuries like Nick, for instance it. Bradley. Chubb is such a mystery right now, there's more mysterious injury situations around the league than I think we know there's less reporting, but Derwin James is injury on Sunday. We know know the extent to it but I know that it's the most caught or I think it's the most costly time injury that there's been since camp started. Because I think he brings out the best in the coaching staff getting to be more creative. This is a bad defense with a lot of talent last year they weren't in the top twenty most efficient defenses. A lot of good players. Yeah. No they didn't have Derwin James, but that's pretty disappointed. He unlocks the cornerbacks you know he he unlocks his tactic partner ratio Jenkins who played really well. I just think he's such a unique special talent losing James is devastating for this defense in it's GonNa put a little more pressure on their offense in tyrod the score some points because I don't think you can count on them being top five upside defense when Derwin James is not on the phone I don't like that term more pressure on tyrod Taylor to Scorpions I know that everyone is fascinated with tyrod Taylor right now it's plain out and it's not fair to him, but it's almost. I think it's like a little bit of the hard knocks after I know. I, mean, it's just that's what happened in Cleveland what a leader what a guy and I think he is, and I think the coaching staff really loves Anthony. Lynn loves tyrod Taylor the person in wants Tim to be functional but the problem is tyrod. Taylor stops being fun about three weeks from now and then you got a rookie quarterback that when. Coaching them. He did he had some moments to be fair when he was in Buffalo In Buffalo yes. Not In Cleveland and I just think that there was I don't know come on. I, mean Austin to me is the centerpiece on that offense I believe in until the end but they're wide receiver right now back he's not but look at their wide receiver position. So what how do you WanNa talk about scaring the defense with a mobile quarterback, but they can't do anything they had said they're gonNA. They're immobilizing how how versatile they can be through the air. I think it's a rough place for Justin. Herbert. To get starts early to I, don't like that at all.

Jalen Ramsey Active, Will Start for Jaguars vs. Titans After Requesting Trade

"Moving onto jalen Ramsey he wants out of Jacksonville unfortunately for him he will be playing against the dines tonight for Jacksonville in Jacksonville the Jags all pro cornerback has requested a trade but we'll be active again with the trade seemingly coming sometime after the game so C. C. which contender should try to acquire Jalen Ramsey. I don't mean I it doesn't have to be a contender tender for me right now. We only played two games. Everyone's a contender the giants I think we make a quarterback's which we right back into this but I think there are certain places that would be better perform. I think the raiders Jon Gruden got the CAP space. They got a really young teen. They could use the corner play. They could also use a star going to Las Vegas the Tennessee Titans. I do believe coach coons. He was a legendary highschool coach coach at Ohio State. He only coastal hieaux until last year we took the job in Tennessee variable who has experienced at Ohio state went there and got him. He is a great defensive back coach in his hometown there with the Titan the raiders are the titans feel are the smoothest transitions for him for a guy that has that type of skill set big corner wants to play a lot of man to man and as we said before he's from Tennessee and wants to go back there and anytime if you can get a big time star like that in a smaller market like Tennessee yeah I think that they should look into that particularly when he's listed the titans previously before the season as a place he'd like to play sometimes you worry big-time star. Would he be happy going to a small market the size of the market in Jacksonville's not why he's unhappy and because of his roots in Tennessee he has already said Nashville would be a place. He wants to thirty proven that he can get national attention no no matter no matter what I mean he's he's one of the star players in the league and one of the faces of the League that we have on the defensive side of the ball one team you mentioned yesterday for I give a couple of others that that I thought really interesting was Philly Philly. Obviously is a contender philly that is the place where they need. I would argue help the most on the back end of their defense particularly the corners because is I liked now. Come Jenkins. I understand we're talking about phillies injuries those they deal with spate of season ending injuries for Philadelphia with how active Howie Roseman has been and how great he's been at almost manipulating the cap to free up space when they need it you would mention philly yesterday that to me is a really interesting fit. It would be something that if you're the Dallas cowboys and you see wait eagles got who the Eagles got jalen Ramsey at the not even at the deadline a month into the season that could be a game changer. I'M GONNA mention a team no one's attaching them to but I think they have the space the picks they have the need. What about the Los Angeles Angeles chargers now maybe they don't WanNa pay Jalen Ramsey they all they're going to have to pay Joey Bosa two guys but they have the cap space to do it? They they are right now. They know that last year they were this close to being the number one seed in the AFC Derwin James is going to come back at some point at the end of the season they already have an extraordinary corner in Casey Hayward but they're starting a guy who was an undrafted free agent couple years ago at the other corner spot if you added few had Casey Hayward Jalen Ramsey Ramsey winter when James comes back that immediately becomes far and away the best secondary in the NFL well for one next year to pay Joey Bosa Casey's already already making a bunch of money Derwin James you already know you're going to have to pay him now. Both of those guys being from Florida state sometime. You think that oh well. Maybe that would work well. Maybe that might Mike not work so I don't know they haven't been the most contract friendly to their player. Philip rivers doesn't have a contract so to me. That's a lot of money that a team that is not customary to pay a lot of money. I don't think they would have that kind of money tied up in their secondary. Just two more teams quickly obviously yesterday. We talked a lot about the chiefs. It's for the cheap since the best player available at the biggest position of need but I do think the chiefs would have real cap issues with that Patrick mahomes going to become the highest paid player forever a year from now. They paid tyreek Hill. They went they paid frank. Clark may be above market. Sammy Watkins they can get off him next year. If they want to play really well race you're adding the highest paid corner in. NFL history was what Jalen is going to become would be tough to keep an eye on the colts though called I mean the colts have enormous cap space the draft capital. They're obviously going to try to win without being a super explosive offense the culture. If I'm Chris Ballard with Andy I am calling Jacksonville and bill and trying to take their temperature on that but he plays his last game tonight for the Jaguars most likely absolutely that would be my guess about eight players to borough road

Jalen Ramsey Jacksonville Tennessee Philly Jalen Ramsey Ramsey Titans Chiefs Derwin James Raiders Tennessee Titans Jalen NFL Casey Hayward Ohio State Joey Bosa Casey Jon Gruden Colts Joey Bosa Eagles

"Fact you said look at this kid and camp if they are doing everything that human being can do with this guy so he's out the defense still though pretty good while i i think the difference is you know last year. When boza rosa was out to start the season everybody said okay. Can you go five hundred. Maybe even if you go a game under five hundred you know you can make that push and get a wild card and they went seven and two without him <hes> <hes> to me the way he looks the way he's moving a full offseason of not being injured and i just i think he is going to wreck wreck the n._f._l. I just do i think he's gonna come back and now when you pair that with with melvin ingram on the other side i'm i've been super impressed with you. Sat down on with three outliers physically like when you see joey bosa. There aren't people built like that. He's that same with mike williams. You're like wait a minute that guy. He told us i did he. He learned that fast. The only bosa lifts that's part is so big he told us at mike williams who i think's gonna have a huge year at the receiver and then you you saw jerry tillery who is just a massive in super athletic human being now on the inside so now you have bosa ingram and tillery is now on the inside of of that. What i'm getting at is that can that can help you overcome for anything. That's behind in the seven. You have that much dominance on that front line. You can help compensate. It's still still gonna affect them. They do have a pretty good guide to plug in and adrian phillips. Someone who played safety and linebacker in college played safety and linebacker for the chargers last year was an all pro as a special teamer because he's just that good at diagnosing football and recognizing where he needs to make a play. He's not derwin but i think it's it's. They're i think they're fortunate that they put him in the box and at least feel good that he can run with tight ends he can't or he can bang with tight ends he can run with slot lot receivers if need be and he can rush the passer so i think that helps but but for me the only way they overcome it is that that boasts one hundred percent and he ingram just roy hint at derwin james of the forecast at least that he could be back in december so week eleven i think is you plug him in an and their thriving than that would be scary prospect for the rest of the league but what about is melvin gordon potentially going to move. I have no idea about names aims talk about names that could be moved moves just because i don't think there's a market. There's no market form because no one wants to see if they know what he turned down. We're not giving up morten ads so there's just wouldn't make sense. I think the trump i think the tax liens or maybe the colombian look at someone called the charges and said we'll give you a one. They'd be like sure. Take them is yours. I i mean no one will not i wouldn't i mean within the colts have the money i know that the co they're not off the hook up andrew luck steel but they get at some relief for andrew lecture time and i i would guess if there were you know if they're what they did it before richardson offer. I mean if you're melvin gordon even if you're in the melvin gordon camp. What are you going to be like okay. I guess i'm i really am gonna just sit out the season. Didn't you just comes back like we talked about. I could now see them being incentive to say like hey. Is there something that i save face. I make a little bit more money and moved to to houston or for that but i don't think the market because i think at least i the teams..

"You're gonna get the crap kicked out of you when you play them while some of these these other teams the fact that u._s._c. is now lying it up spreading it out instead of beating the hell out of us an embarrassment that stanford is that physical team but i know that's why it drives them crazy but man dan you wanna talk about a specific moment that is going to push that conversation for those people that totally believe in it and they'll be like you see. That's what i'm talking about right there. I invest in number one pick and a hundred and fifty million bucks and this guy is smart is worldly and when you realize you needed anymore. You're gone and i can't afford to do that. It's and that's gonna happen because of this one instance. We don't even have to look that far right his dad. All of luck played five years in the n._f._l. Retired to go and become a lawyer that was that was his goal wasn't to play. He could've played in the n._f._l. For long he was a backup quarterback on the houston oilers and really played a little bit was considered. I think a a good backup quarterback in the league and back in those days especially those guys could have ten twelve year career is quite easily. He said no. My goal is not to play football forever roy. I have a different cooling and while but the other side of that coin is then and i'm completely with you. I think you interrupted money. He was about to declare the christian christian. Mccaffrey is gonna retire next week. That makes sense. He's got the old man who played in the n._f._l. So he probably doesn't need it as much as other. This is the money so great now that you can do it you can you can have made their. I think there are plenty of twenty eight year old guys in the n._f._l. Right now yeah i mean i could. I could give it up but i can't do it because i still need that right but but i mean if you're a number one not not even number one overall if you're let's say if you're a top fifteen pick and i think there are and if there are those concerns. It's like okay by the time on this guy's done on his rookie deal. If i pick up his fifth year option he's going to have pocketed thirty five million bucks or twenty eight whatever it is when you're in that top ten you're talking about probably somewhere if they pick up your fifth year between thirty five and fifty million bucks is he gonna stick around or because he was premed and ultimately lee says he wants to run his own emergency room and travel the world and build facilities to help out those like really. I think that's that's the concern cernan that i think i don't subscribe to it. I think it is an individual. It is one hundred percent individually based not institutionally if i may stand up again for the fans a little bit so that's exactly right. People don't like the feeling people there is a there is a sunset sunset some sense of embarrassment..

"You can't be doing that and there were others that were like totally. Get it get it. It's so in in that's i'm talking about players. Dot people players to see the difference in the reactions that are a hundred and eighty once. Everybody has a night to meditate on. I didn't realize that if this is about some existential thing that andrew lucked physically can't make it happen anymore or he's lost passion all that stuff but to your point about different players getting different reactions as i said over the weekend when this came down and got a fair amount of pushback on it is is what if cam newton did this is at the same reaction of course it is not and by the way that guy has put his body through basically the exact same toll that that andrew andrew luck has if cam newton did this there would not be think so see i. I don't agree with that. You think people would be like cam newton the way i think because of the way the season ended last year when he could not throw a foot there. He's he's hobbling now yeah. I think it'd be very similar that you'd have that split. The people say quit on his team. I think but i feel like it's ninety tally. I feel like the media and the football community has reacted that is a a- as though shame the devil that you would say boo about andrew luck which i agree you shouldn't blew him but given the circumstance that those people like we say are are probably in their cups and their whip. They're pows in their way why we're here to watch his team and by the way we've bought season tickets and i wear the number twelve on my back. I don't as i tweeted back. Lindsay rhodes who spoke up and said give these fans break. They don't know what the circumstances on saturday night so the same thing that that i i don't i think they were booing outright. I think a lot of them at least were bemused ing guy. They were like what andrew don't do it. I think that's what they were actually actually doing and stuff about. Somebody slashed his tires. I don't know if in fact that's true. I mean listen. Obviously that's absurd. It's a felony yes. You're not a hero for pointing out called that that sort of behaviour is inappropriate. Yeah it's bogus but okay be people who've accused me of race baiting because i invoked the name cam newton. That's on you i i didn't. I didn't say it had anything to do with that. Polarizing quarter. There's a narrative about cam newton that disagrees with andrew that isn't the same as andrew luck and by the way which is ironic because there she similar they're very sit up their their trajectory and by the way they andrew also would have been out of carolina and he come out not not tried to chase a national title might still be playing by the way because he wouldn't have been behind that garbage offensive line at rick's and put together. That's exactly right he would have gone to carolina. Cam would have gone to the denver. Bronco's peyton manning wouldn't have gone to the denver broncos. He would have gone to seattle. Maybe home to tennessee. Maybe the colts would have kept him fascinating stuff or they get r._g. Three at the top top of the next year's draft and who knows where r._g. Three is that's why what if is fun but what if instead of cam newton what of ben rothlisberger did this would that be the reaction. How about another one aaron rodgers a little a little dodgier not as not as loveable on faces andrew lock armour among hey good hit good hitman days opponents..

"I've got a big one here. I already mentioned it. I know i know but i went <hes> jacksonville jaguars lars but now andrew luck is retired so let's jump in on that right now andrew lock first of all handsome. You have a little bit of history with him. The thing that strikes asked me about it is and not to get up. I'm out pious because there's so many people running up to malpractice over the seventy two hours or so since they andrew luck news broke that he's retiring first of all it is absolutely his right to retire whenever he wants if he doesn't want to play for whatever reason that is his right the reaction though before we even talk about the football implications that this is another opportunity to for people to to prove to themselves if no one else that they are better than their fellow human beings by sending up to mount pious and condemning fans how dare air fans blew andrew luck. Don't they know these these rubes these dummies these these people who lack any sense of empathy andrew luck is a hero for all. Don't you know he peed blood. Let me tell you one. I'll go one step further than everybody up. I'm out pies. I say andrew luck does was in half to have suffered some minimum standard of of physical injury. He can retire for any reason he wants. If he wants to become a yahtzee <hes> yahtzee competitive player popular. We're up more and eating competition. He can retire for that reason too that the thing that everybody is citing is don't those people know what he laid on the line don't they they heard the stories shame on those people good for you yeah and by the way that the players are getting getting in on it too big names aaron rodgers. I saw david decastro who played with luck at stanford now a high offense of lima for the steelers of course. I said they treat us like we're circus animals. I mean i you know. How much am i supposed to weep over that treatment. Yeah that's part of the gig man. You're like daniel day-lewis complaining complaining. I only got into the into the movie making for the craft of acting then just oh go go to stage go to the that's exactly really right just go and find some london haunt and do <hes> stage productions for eighty people who shop to see you you wanna be a part of the big states and that's part of the thing and the idea that fame shouldn't do this straw man argument. That's been laid out that like hey let me just tell you something. It's in fact mean-spirited tabu. Other people like yeah everybody agrees with that. Also that's part of the deal if you are in the pro football in the pro sports in our society in the twenty-first century people. We'll pay money to go there. Yeah it's to me. It's a little strange that grownups where the jerseys of other grownups with the names on the back and everything else but ed hey players hey leagues. That's what you want to have happen if the fan stop caring if they are passionate about the whole thing implodes pay. I don't know why i feel like i have to stand up for the fans but that food chain that i always talk about gm's and coaches get up and condescend to the media bill belichick probably the best of doing that then and the media turned around fans. You don't get what's really going on you. You can't understand that and the fans are these dopes who just have to take it and only genuflect to the players. I it makes me crazy that this is the place that worrying and there's a lack of recognition of until they need fans and they need the support ford. We're going through a hard time when the lakers pulled that jazz a couple years ago hey lakers fans. You were with us for the good times. You better stick with us for the bat..

"And I my little snippet of a conversation with a rookie all pro safety of Los Angeles chargers after their great win in Baltimore on Sunday Derwin, James. Back in the Peter King podcasts Derwin James the all pro safety with the Los Angeles chargers before we talk about this game. You just played always your reaction when you heard that. You're all pro as a rookie in the NFL. I was excited on just coming in. I said all the way back to the combine that I wanted to come in and Ernest position and be all pro and make the probe. Also that was one of my goals coming in and like I say just for us to continue to win. And just do what we need to do. Why was this game this year for you? Not that big a transition. It seemed from the very start you played big in big games preparation everyday. My daily habits that I do every day, and my coaches doing a great job prepare me. I mean, I got great teammates. And like I said we challenge each other everyday in this spec. My best out of me every day, and I've been bringing that every day, and it just transitioned to on Sunday or standing in the bowels of Mt. Bank stadium in Baltimore. You guys just gone on the road for the eighth time this year and one football game. You've been to London you've been to Baltimore you've been to Kansas City. You've been all over the map and you've won games. You've won eight football games on the road. Why have you guys been such a good routine this year with raw moments like this coming into other people housing like I say plan char football for four quarters. I mean, we we feel like we always Dylan as a team more and more on those playing rather than just getting over here. Just own a road in the hotels on the road. We love it. We love it. We love we love it love it. I mean is absolutely fun. Why why is that? Asleep in God that we have in a locker room, honestly. 'cause it's fun to be around guys. Like this twenty four seven. I love football coaches that love football twenty four seven. So I feel like it's going on the room. Okay. So the first time you play these guys two weeks ago, they ran for one hundred and fifty nine yards. They pass for two hundred two yards. I don't know the stats in this game because they were inflated because what happened late but through three quarters. You've just totally snuffed them out. What was the Gus Bradley game plan this week? And what was the idea coming in? I do we will put on we got seventy Bs. Unfortunately, we had put seventy Bs on 'cause battling injuries. But I feel like we did a great job of just you know, again speed on the field and just get into the ball. And containing and line did a great job all day of you know, again to the quarterback and not carrying too many rushland foster not not for too many states to get the ball. So overall team the first snap of the game. You. Were there waiting for Lamar Jackson. And it was almost like you. You you were spying just to make sure we're not gonna let Lamar Jackson outside. We're not gonna let him beat us. Yeah. I snap of the game. How did that feel the you? And what did you see that it took off from there like the momentum of defense when they seen that we make that? I when I make the first play I feel like from narrow it was would just win to click an clicking come another place. So like I say everybody star making big plays. And we start getting big sacks interceptions. And like I say offense the ball. So I feel I. We've got a great thing going around here. What do you think Gus Bradley's mantra was this week when he would talk to you guys about the important things in this football, just being able to read your keys, he knew that was gonna be small, you know, coming in with with a DB's, but we we thrive on on being physical..

Chargers vs Ravens: Are You Ready?

"We talked about this on Sunday night when the ravens are running at a running the ball at a pace unseen since the mid nineteen seventies. The chargers are built to stop a lot of good modern offense. That's so true. The chiefs they're playing the Rams and they stick with them a little bit. Yeah. Obviously these play these teams we've seen how it's gone big. I'm packages he flexible up the field pass rush Derwin James can do anything back there. Well, you fill Adrian Phillips in his a dime. Linebacker cover tied to corners can stick with guys and Craig three Deepa corner. Yep. So how do you beat the modern defense? Give them something. That is thoroughly unmodern you give them. Lamar Jackson running the ball more than anybody since the nineteen seventies. I'm in and you also have a situation where the chargers a really thin at linebacker. I believe she's Davis Brown is out for the season. Now, Denzel Perriman is already out. So you're pretty much your best run defenders are not going to be playing this game. Corey leauge. It's already out for the year. That's why I'm picking Baltimore. Even though I love this chargers team. I just think it's. A bad batch. And then you go off to the side of the ball. And watching them play last time, I talked to Philip rivers a little bit recently. And he said that, you know, very rarely this season where we ever just thoroughly outplayed. And that's what happened last time against Baltimore. And I watched the good shrunk of that game. Again, a couple of hours ago, and you just watching this Baltimore secondary the defense in general, but especially the secondary. And so much of what they do. I just watch a play. Like, why don't know what that coverage was? I don't know. What that covers was there. The way they spin the safeties and weta moving around all this all over the place and just how complex everything is.

"Steady gains over and over and over the team that you like before the year, and you said this a couple of months ago. The chargers are the best team in Los Angeles. Lord Derwin James, it could be rookie of the year physically. I mean, that's second half was unbelievable. Offense of -ly Philip rivers after the game was talking like he was twenty three years old his energies unbelievable. I mean, you must that that was a tip of the cap to you. They were exactly in the second half. What you you said about what what did you spot two months ago? They were they patriots in the second half. They Atri patriots football. If that's even a word. They came out. They made huge by magicians, especially in the run game in the run game. They went to a spread offense a run game giving the ball to the back offset from the holy was attacking they or Sonoma personnel group. And they wanted him in they play action that they threw the ball underneath day now, and they they may right adjustments. But what they did more than they also they just executed and. We use that word a lot with New England. We don't we use a lot of a lot of other teams. They just came out and for one half football executed to the highest highest highest level, you possibly could. Pittsburgh didn't give that game. Then in fumbling around in row into the charred. Didn't the Pittsburgh. They make a ton of mistakes. They just got out laid out executed at still very much like watching a second half of a patriots in a big game. Yeah. By the way, I still think New Orleans is the best team in the league. Who do you this that? Okay. I I still think they're the best team in the league. It's funny. I it's all that kind of you know, Rams patriots chiefs. I kind of feel the Cy. I haven't talked to you since the cowboy thing on Thursday night the affil- differently about Dallas, or do you think they're still kind of a low ceiling team? I still think there low ceiling. Do you make a very good? And I said that when I first made that that comment that they're high floor low ceiling team, I think they're going to make the blessing. You're gonna win their division. But I don't think they might even get their first playoff game. Interesting. But I don't think we can talk about him as a championship football team. I think is starting about championship teams. The patriots chargers maybe chiefs in the NFC ram saints. Yeah. I would I would have put the Steelers in that conversation few weeks ago, but again that drama that eight consistency gives me pause. I think this time of year we need to change the conversation between who's good and who can be great. And there are certain indicators when you're looking at. Teams that have the chance to be great quarterbacks. Obviously one thank baller quarterback relationship but critical down stops on defense. The ability to get off the field holding teams to feel roles and a half and a game. Look at the teams play great end to have and the game. Those will probably be the teams that are playing in the Super Bowl great stuff decade and a half in the NFL Super Bowl. Pro Bowl Trent Dilfer, good stuff, buddy..

Chargers vs Steelers: Post-game analysis

"Incident. This is sports center right now, I'm on Tony Collins. There was no shortage of controversy in last night's game. Between the chargers and Steelers all eating to quarterback Philip rivers seventh career comeback in a game in which his team trail by sixteen or more points. Let's take you out to Pittsburgh. We'll take this up for the chargers trailing thirteen to nothing in the I keep your eye on right? Tackle Sam Tevi. Let's take a false start. No plaque and Philip rivers. Throws deep to Travis Benjamin for a forty six yard touchdown. He J watt Live Aid at the no com. So in the fourth charges were rally sixteen down three seconds left. Mike bats Leon's for the game. Winning thirty nine yard field goal attempt offsides on the Steelers. So now that's from thirty four yards out. And the Steelers are off-side once again so now bachelor from twenty nine yards. He gets a done Tomlin was asked about the chargers. First touchdown. Guys. I'm not getting into all of the officiating elements of what transpired at high. It was communicated. I'm just not is fruitless it doesn't change the outcome of the game. We're not gonna put it into the ref sans. We need to play better football. Like I said we didn't play we didn't play well enough on offense. Now, let's get you back. I take Steelers sixteen point lead at home at Philip rivers. Engineers a seventh career comeback win to handle a three point loss to improve to nine in three on the season. Pittsburgh oh in three versus AFC west opponents this season. Max was this one more about the chargers or the Steelers? This is about the chargers, and they beat a good team in Pittsburgh on the road. Pittsburgh in the history of their franchise. It never come had never lost the game. They were leading by that by sixteen points. I mean at home in those circumstances the first time ever one hundred seventy wins. No losses and the chargers did it. This is about the chargers. And I've said for the preseason I believe they're going to make the Super Bowl this year. It tested my faith a couple of weeks ago with the turnover at the end of the game Philip rivers at a certain point you go. Listen, maybe you're not just snake bit. Maybe this franchise does it to themselves. Maybe Philip rivers isn't destined to makes. Of course. I had those thoughts not stick with them. When posted gets back. Let's see what's what he was making plays Derwin James making plays. They have stars on the defense. They obviously had stars on the offense with or without Melvin Gordon and Philip rivers guys. He was going down. It piece by piece at times with guys tackling them in the face of pressure sticking his receivers. He was so big time. He lied manning had his time to Super Bowls. Ben Rothlisberger had his time. You know, even the off sides, of course, the charges miss a field goal. And they're going to lose the game. All that. So chargers, right. Like, that's the way they lose sometimes new organization like that a player like rivers just needs a break to get away. What's up break went their way? And they got the win on the road. These are the two they've looked like the most well balanced teams in the AFC so far this season. And the chargers went and took it to them and beat them on the road. This is the charger season story is about them. Yesterday. Score is not about them about. The Steelers, and it was about still because it still has had a twenty three to seven lead and Lewitt. It's that simple to me the charges. Anthony Lynn is doing a fabulous job. He deserves a lot of credit. I'm very impressed with what I saw him. Do. They remain compose. They stayed with their game plan despite being down sixteen that says a lot about the coach their belief in him, etc. Etc. Mave respect for that. They they did it. And when special teams they did it with their running game. They did it with Philip rivers. They deserve a lot of credit for that. I get that. But my bottom line is this you had a twenty three to seven lead on your home turf. A right in those situations. Careerwise franchise wise you like two hundred zero into and you lose a game to the Los Angeles. Chargers. I'm looking at Big Ben Rothlisberger missing a wide open receiver. Nobody within twenty yards FM. Missed a missed that. Touchdown throw. Threw an interception again as well. I'm pointing to that. I'm looking at it. From that perspective. I'm looking at the defense. I'm looking at the secondary. And I'm saying to myself once again, we find ourselves with the Steelers team that is good. But shows us as a season Wayne that is. Good as they are. There is something missing. That says to you. I should not believe in them when it counts whether it's against New England and Tom Brady who by the way, they'll play again, they'll play in a couple of weeks they've gotten the wall leads and the New England Patriots on their schedule. Two of the last four weeks this season. I'm damn near depressed thinking about it for crying out because once again, just win at six straight. But they lost a game. They needed to win. And they should have wanted to get the Denver Broncos. Now, they find themselves as a team that's just gonna win their division. Go to the postseason. And then we got a hope

"Along with the Steelers, the worst tackling team in the NFL that the middle of your defense. But tween Bosa Ingram is a freeway, just broken tackles all along. So if you've got three rookies you might start on defense, Chen and Awasa Kaiser, your white, Kevin whites, brother and Derwin James. This team could add a lot more speed. You've also got Justin Jones and other rookie on the defensive line. I want to see them tackle better and make field goals and do special teams because these are all things which coaching should help Derwin James, my defensive rookie of the year pick like end JJ Jones is going to help off special teams a lot. That dude is fun. And I, I was I would. I don't know if I was totally sold, but when I found out that because you're white is Kevin whites brother. Now, man, I didn't know fourth round pick and it looks like he's going to start. They really like him. So that's that's huge on paper. It's dominant defense like my question with them is like Ken, Gus Bradley. I don't know. I have a hard time imagining like a top three Los Angeles chargers defense, but I seems like it can't happen. They've got the players for it. There's some injury concern with both of it. Anthony Lynn did say over the weekend if it was a regular season game, the Bosa would have played. They just wasted in a preseason game. So look, things go wrong. But why not? Yeah. Pretty soon. Boast is going to want to break the Bank. Philip rivers is gonna be old and you missed your window is old. He hasn't really like he's throwing from different platforms. He's he's aiding pressure like he's looked good in the previous and he he hasn't shown it, but he's the same age as rothlisburger and Eli. And to me, he's the number one story on the board. If you're. Rooting for an NFL story. Just like someone I'd like to see in the Super Bowl. Philip rivers is like my number one and then at the same time and it's unrelated to the roster which is better than any other in the division is the environment they play in, which is a stadium that's going to be all season long, half filled with the opposing fan base, and it's hard to imagine them, you know, hosting AFC championship game in a stadium, half filled with the other teams pry fans four or would be great in crazy. Plea-, please stop. We will after this final team, the Kansas City Chiefs, and Chris kind of set it for me that the most concerning unit on either side of the ball that I saw in all of the preseason was the Kansas City Chiefs defense, which was quite bad last year made a lot of changes. And then in all three weeks when the chiefs starting defense was out, there got run over, it really didn't matter who they were going against, whether it was chased Daniel going for three straight touch. I mean, when the bears backups are going for three straight touchdowns on you, maybe I shouldn't overreact to the preseason, but it's not like the personnel really makes you feel any better the secondary without Eric berry. And right now they are without Eric berry isn't practice in two weeks. He's coming off at torn achilles tendon and his he'll which is the same area is hurt. Again is one one of the weakest secondaries in the league, and then you're going to need a really strong front seven to make up for. I don't know if they have that and. It's asking a lot of Patrick Mahomes that try to win thirty three to thirty every week and that that might be what it takes. It's almost like at the head of all pro cornerback on the team. I should've kept. Yeah, yeah, I, that one's a hard one to figure. I guess they just didn't want to pay him or something they didn't want to commit to eventually but didn't have to pay him. That was the part I didn't get. He was. He was under contract. Maybe this year you could tag them neck might have been the personality. I mean, there seemed to tire of him. I, I am encouraged by Patrick Mahomes, right? He was one of these quarterbacks that amid the sea of rookie quarterback's it almost easy to forget about Mahomes and Trubisky and these guys that are, you know, in year two and in Mahomes and that last game, I mean you feel like he can. He can be the engine behind an exciting offense..

"You know there when I'm looking at teams and trying to figure out who's going to be good, we're going to be bad. I really if you just want to narrow it down quarterback and defensive line, you know, as long as you're is all. Officiant on the offensive line, and they're more than that. They're outstanding. So quarterback defensive line, and then the bonus with what they have on the offensive line. I'm not picking against them AFC. You're the chargers color analysts. They won nine of their last sixteen. Oh. Gary, they're fucking water over there. Or the chargers going to be a contender this your Philip rivers is universally respected as a good quarterback by everybody. He's in the west coast. So the east coast east eastern standard time zone, kind of dominates everything. Philip rivers is known as a guy who's good quarterback. He he didn't interview with ladainian Tomlinson during training camp. I think it was on Saturday of last week where he said to ladainian said back in the day, we used to know we would win twelve games. He said it's not like that anymore. With the nine of the last twelve going into the offseason in kind of if they had a kicker, they probably went eleven games last year, twelve games last year. Do you think the chargers are somebody to be reckoned with in the f. and if not them, who do you think takes on the AFC this year? I think you know what New England's always going to be the favourite as long as twelve lines up there. They're going to be the favourite, no doubt. But when you look at that that, but here challengers I put the charge right up there at again. I kind come back same formula. You look at Philip rivers. I think he's he's a big time quarterback. Championship caliber quarterback, and then you look at the defensive line that they have what Bosa and Ingram and this kid, they drafted Justin Jones from NC state, keep him in mind. He's a defensive tackle. He was outstanding. The two days I was out there watching training camp and then you throw Derwin James on the back end with, you know, you got an all pro corner, Casey Hayward, and some depth there in the secondary. So defensively should be really, really good quarterback, outstanding and receiver wise, Vic, yet, Mike LIAM's come along who was didn't do much last year as a rookie from Clemson was was beat up and hurt, but you him to Keenan Allen and tyro Williams, Travis Benjamin, they've got a good Rosser. Man is a really, really good roster and Philip for awhile as head to kind of cover up some holes on this roster and then have to do that anymore. So they're definitely right up there as a favorite. And I think you look at the AFC south with Jacksonville, Houston, those would be right there as well. And then Pittsburgh, you know, I don't know Pittsburgh can I say, look, they look great on paper and then you go back and with through it and just having him on. The world heart, whereas for how, how good their rosters been for quite some time. Now it's, it's, it's odd Benz, thin. Have a little respect for the Ben Rothlisberger. It he's really looked at. Then I heard I heard read all the articles, and then I saw the well, Well, that's. that's that's in comparison to what it used to everything is in comparison to everything's relative. Basically old Ben looked like verse what new bend looks like. They're going to say he's very thin because he used to show up looking like a d end. I mean, to do was just absolutely absurd. He's a naturally fat face. Does. He does. He's a Slinger to all right. Hey, Dana, Jeremiah appreciate yourself. Are you pumping, or are you promoting anything. "The clock at nine and there are you know there's some people there so roquan smith you linebacker from georgia that would be option one as far as i'm concerned he was down in santa clare yesterday derwin james who may be a jalen ramsey clone the florida state defensive back he's going to be there or trade down so i think those are that's i think what the niners are going to be choosing from at at nine roquan smith or when and james or some kind of a trade down with somebody looking at trade up for josh rosen the raiders at ten will probably go for roquan if he's there or remember these names vida vade monster defensive tackle from u dub like three hundred fifty pounds and he runs super fast i think the raiders would love to have him i've heard they're really hot to try to marcus davenport the texas el paso pass rusher and then tremaine edmonds from vortex i think those it'd be roquan edmonds davenport or vita to the raiders at ten we'll be roquan derwin james or trade back for lynch at nine that's my guess i think the dream scenario for the niners gary is that they trade from nine to twelve with buffalo get buffalo's extra picks they have multiple picks in the first and second round and get roquan smith or maybe the kid from tech tremaine edmonds at twelve and said thank you and all the people out there who may have like something to do that night at the draft kids games no need your center set you just got the for just got the top ten that's how i see those if you want one of those i did want it at i i don't like eating during the show have you ever see me i've never eaten front of you well you keisha you'll wolf donor to off the air when the show's over but i don't wolf during the show now you typically don't wolf yeah you but you'll take one of my red vines after my my top ten breakdown can i have a smoke yeah larry's has a package of read by the i got him out of that defeat the purpose of drinking four bottles of water if you're gonna eat this much candy.

"I'm concerned but you have to make sure that you're going to meet him halfway you get a meet to where his skill set is right now and not being old school spit the tobacco underground say this the nfl does how we do y'all bet because you do that you're wasting your draft pick but you're willing to meet him to where he is that can get him going early and more and more teams are doing that guy look what we'll do it the shawn watson last year you can add in the nfl stuff we did the same thing with doc prescott i say you do the same thing with lamar jackson we're talking to charles davis on the gas line one of our favorites nfl network by the way provides live coverage of the two thousand eighteen nfl draft from dallas april twentysixth through the twenty eight fox is going to simulcast the nfl network's coverage of the first three rounds how about the safety spot niners brought kaiser way white from west virginia but there's also a two day visit with minka fitzpatrick who i i don't see special there but i'm a big fan of derwin james from florida state give me your thought at safety like james you like it's patrick or why right it's it's it's a great debate fitzpatrick is your every every guy meaning he can play cornering going to slot for you i do believe he can play high safety they didn't have him do a lot of that at alabama's but a little bit more of a ball hawk and that's why i think a lot of people have him raided ahead of derwin james james miss time with a knee injury was especially if he's a specimen now and i have a very good friend has worked about this summer who swears to me that if the teams wanna play in but corner he can play corner like jalen ramsey did come now to florida state how that's how that's how you have to divide that went up but i think the dividing line so the two of them for most most teams is did you take the.
