"Talent and they were a bad basketball team for a couple of years so I could understand what people would be down on the Bulls. Yeah, Yeah, Absolutely So. So what? Right right a little bit of a positive. Look, I think we're going to talk positively about the Bulls later today. I thought like I I slept. I literally slept on the bulls. You know that phrase Everyone go say they say Hey, don't don't sleep on the balls. Don't sleep on the bulls. Now. I slept on the Bulls last night. They were down 20 in the first half. They cut it to about 10. I have time, and I'm like, okay. Ah, I'm really, really tired. Am I going to stay up? And am I going to regret in the morning investing in this team? They haven't earned it yet, and I woke up. And I was shocked to find out that the Bulls came back and they wanted my age. I am voluntarily fall asleep it odd times a day, least at night because you know I don't sleep during the day. And there have been moments where I've taken my fingers and tried to prop my eyes open so I could watch. I just like I think the game I saw them. My wife kept yelling at me. Why Stacey keep screaming hot sauce and like I'm not going in and out of sleep, and she says he decided it again. He's states. He's screaming hot sauce. I don't know, honey, That's what he's when somebody heats up and knocks down that three or, you know, I mean, that's that's what he's no, that's what he does. And then I looked at her. He said. If you're scared, go by dog, Um But I fell asleep too like I I I knew they were in the game because at one point they had taken the lead before I had I'd fallen back asleep. And I'm with you the life I passed out before the end of the game, and I missed the big win. Here's Zach Levine late in the game. The Bulls are up one. At this point. I believe there's about 12 or 11. Seconds left the shot. Clock's winding down. So Portland's going to get the ball and the Bulls are protecting a one point lead. And here Zach Ravine, clinching the wind. There's the B nine to shoot. Wait on the clock. Laffita. Three. Stop it! Stopping will feed with a huge three more point lead. Oh, my goodness. I was wondered if he was gonna step up and take the shot. Look at deep. This is in the face of Derrick Jones Jr. Bang, Bang, bang. Wow, This is what big time players do. Big time players. Adam make big time plays. There you go. The highlight courtesy of NBC Sports Chicago. I think we played a game recently where the Bulls were really bad, and we said When's the When will be the last time there at 500? You know, Because do you really expect them to flirt with 500 all year? Will this be the last time there at 500 a year? Or will they? You know they've got now tonight. They've got Sacramento now. That would be great if you could put a back to back win with Portland and then Sacramento Because then you've got the two l a teams, but historically, they've really Done poorly on this West Coast trip, right? Used to be the circus tripped and then use even when they were good, right? Listen, I'm thrilled to watch them again. I go back to Roy's point for a second, though, like I don't I don't want people. Anyone when it I don't want anyone blowing smoke up my can. Do you know what I'm saying? Did that get through? Or did you guys dump that is Well, it's going, okay? I don't know. I smoke up the canyon, everyone once a day I get I get yelled at for you.

"Stand? How do you feel about pellets? Yeah, I've never been on a telethon. Yeah, that's not gonna happen. I do love him racing, Jeff and then being competitive. What did you see? Last night that I thought was interesting. Well, I thought the Lakers size overwhelmed Miami more than I thought they had eight block shots. I thought even before he got the injury in the third quarter, the size really gave them out by a lot of problems. Hey, was struggling Tio finish On shots that he normally makes. And they and they get 16. The Lakers at 16 2nd chance points up on them on the board that, um To me was just sort of the overriding theme. Um, look, I think the three point shooting part of it will turn around the heat for some reason over the last six games. Have sort of fallen apart from three point range. You've got to think that they'll come back to making some threes, and the Lakers are just not that good at three point shooting team and had a great night last night. Um, but I don't think that the Lakers are going to get shorter. Yeah, I was going to say I don't. How do you fix that? Well, you know what? I think? Miami. You know the score was what it wass, but Miami did a great job of the best I've seen actually in the playoffs of breaking down the Laker defense, getting into the paint and then either finishing our making plays out of that. Um, they had 46 points in the paint, and they're 1st 14 points in the room get started, or from drives into the paint, either being finished or Fish to somebody else or kicked out for three. So I thought that they did a good job there and they're gonna have to continue to do that. There it listen. They have to make three point shots. They were second in the league during this season, 38%. The 1st 10 games in the playoffs. This year, they shot 39% over the last six games. They've shot 30% and that even including a good game six Against Boston, So it's been a disaster for them from three point range. And that's a huge part of their game. And then the overriding thing is the injuries. I mean, going into last night drug, which was the Leading scorer on the team in the playoffs, and even early in the game, you could see he was having great success. Getting into the pain. He was getting wherever he wanted to go to either score. Make plays if he's out, which it sounded like a good possibility, then That's a major blow to the heat and both Butler and added bio or are you hobbled a little bit in various ways? They can't afford that. I picked the heat. The win, which was probably the death knell for them, anyway. Um, you know, but if they're not healthy Then they don't have any chance of a positive sign, though. With drug it's being out, Um Kendrick Nunn, who had a great regular season and was put on the shelf in the conference finals. I got into a little bit of a rhythm last night. So obviously, if drug itches out, he stands to get a lot of time, and he was able to gain a little confidence and get some rhythm last night. So so that'll be helpful. TNT analyst Stan Van Gundy with us here on ESPN radio and MBA TV. Stan, Have you seen a player like Anthony Davis? Is there a comparison? Uh, you know, probably not not directly again the size. I mean, it just created so much of a problem. For Miami. So they started the game double teaming him and jeans when they were in the post and because the light, which I thought was a good decision now, I don't think they were very active in their double teams. I'm sure that's something that Erik Spoelstra's talking to them about today. They were like, perfunctory double team. They they didn't really get pressure on anybody. But the Lakers did a great job playing out of it, and they were knocking down three. So then they opened the second half trying to play straight up on both Davis and James and Davis able to just face up and shoot over ban easily. He's got so much size and links on him and then LeBron James was just able to gold in the mid post face up Jimmy Butler and go right buying. He's just a bigger, stronger player. Jimmy is a tough guy and a good defender. He's just not his biggest LeBron James. So you know that the size of both of those guys and then Davis's ability to shoot the ball? Yeah, Question was, I know a player like you. You know, not directly, but I think guys with size and we shoot the ball. Kevin Durant, Um, who plays a little differently, But Anthony Davis who? Khun Go inside now, I mean, those guys are really, really, really difficult to stop it to make her miss for those guys. When Derrick Jones Jr and Duncan Robinson were on LeBron James, I thought they were both going to get stuck in his butt crack. Listen. I mean, here's the hard part. I think for the For the heat, right. So dumped in Rob, when you when you have to go, injuries force you to go down into your bench a little bit more and Duncan Robinson, a great offensive player, really good shooter. He's improved defensively by We and he gets caught on switches on pick and rolls on, LeBron, obviously like you can't have a much bigger mismatched and that The Lakers are a great defensive teams. So if you're gonna play guys like Derrick Jones Jr Solomon Hill guys like that. How do you score? I mean, it's hard enough to score on the Lakers. But then if you're going to try to play four on five At the offensive end of the floor. It just gets very difficult, so the heat need their starters Tyler hero. Kendrick Nunn. Now if he's going to get more minutes, um, you know, in a in a probably a smaller dose of Andre Iguodala. They need all those guys to play. Wow. Because those guys can play some it both ends of the floor. But Robinson gets played off the floor a little bit himself, so it's not easy for them because those one way guys are not going to get it done. Are you and play for any of these coaching jobs that are available person? Not that I know of. Okay, you would know that everybody is. I don't know who everybody is with. They're so so. But not that I know of. Is there a chance you might get back at it? Is there a chance that you might if the right offer comes around you? There's a chance. I mean, my brother's been out of it for 13 use and Still thinks of it every year, you know, and hasn't taken that plunge yet. Why? It never goes away mean? You know, we will. The coaches from the beginning of our career, and I think that's how we'll always look at ourselves as coaches. And so I don't think it's too coach Will ever go away. But we also I'll have you know a maturity that might be a little too strong. But, um, you know, we're both a little older and have a different perspective that you know there are other things out there, too. And You know as much as you want, Coach. There's also, you know, quality of life and other things like that nose on Twitter and palate. I don't believe him at all like this soon is that there are other things important in life right until the Clippers call or something that all of a sudden that it is going to get you eyes. There's a good job or the Sixers. That's a good job. Jeff has been getting that itch for how many years? I don't know Jeff's gonna be coaching next year. Yes or no. I don't have any idea. You know, Every year somebody approaches him, and he really hasn't born after a job. He hasn't even gone to the point. Really. He's talked to some people over the years, but You know, he's never really gotten ingested in light flying to go get a job, so So I don't know. But it is really the whole ice thing. If you would ask me if you want to coach 100%..

"As we march toward three minutes remaining in the first quarter will be Miami ball out of the timeout. 37 enrolling here in the first quarter. Jimmy Butler has the inbound droppin right side Iguodala near the free throw line, Robinson jump past Dogg. He fires outside It's Crowder for three and he knocks at home his third triple of the first quarter. He's ripping up my statue last series. We don't need any more point lead. 80 gets through the double down the lane for the easy lay in 28, 2 20. Miami's lead trend to eight I had a nightmare of an Eastern Conference finals from three Butler tries to feed the wing knocked out of bounds by Rondo so much length on that Lakers there is, but I want to make a point about the Miami offense. A lot of the shots are coming because of the roots that Duncan Robinson is running the split action of top. That's where you're getting some of those dives to the rim and the weak side quarter past. Butler off the end about Duncan Robinson Launching a three from outside of Miss Anthony Davis rebounds. Lakers got a 2.5 left in the first with Rondo dribbling across the three point line Slings. It looks for contact. Got it on a two point shot in the corner that Mrs foul on Duncan Robinson and contain Venus Pope will shoot a pair talking about Jimmy Butler being aggressive. Casey Super aggressive early. He's doing an excellent job. Just head fake that time Duncan Robinson bid on it. I tell you to endorse On the other end, the Lakers are struggling with pick and roll defense against Miami. Every time they run a pick and roll that role man's been open going into the basket. In a couple of times. He kicked it out for those threes in the corner. You have to guard the perimeter, and Duncan Robinson was coming off that split action. You get the quick dive off the screen or the split and the speed of Bam Otto Bio is problematic for the speed for that guy in the middle of the floor, and that weak side corner has gotten open shot at the open shot. Casey Piot, the first free throw He's got nine between free throws Bam out of bio! Lauren drug. It's just checked back into the Miami lineup. KCP second good as well. 10 in the first quarter for contagious Caldwell Pope, who averaged 11 points a game in the conference finals, Lakers within six. Pam has a tip of the circle looking to facilitate goes to a gondola on the left. Bubbles up the art now toward the mid post hangs off the glass shot pin balls out. No good comes up with the offensive rebounds. Feeds hero for three that Mrs and the Lakers have it on the weak side down floor for KCP Missed the lab at the cup under a little bit of pressure. Tyler here did a poor job getting back on defense. He watched his shot. Drag it gets to the low box. Alex Caruso. The game cuts him off up top. Robinson, the deadly three point shooter misses and the Lakers come away with minute 45 Go first quarter, Caruso stops top of the circle finds Casey for three bricks that 1 80 the offensive rebounding, fouled as he was looking to go back up, ma'am out of bio coming from behind, gets called for the foul. It'll be number one on Obama's LeBron James arms crossed waits to re enter the game in between free throws 1 37 to go in the first quarter. 28 22 Miami leading the Lakers, Baia was Complain to Josh TiVo, and I think he's got a legit, complained He had a lot of ball going at a stick back. Problem is putting Anthony Davis at the free throw line means you're putting an 81% free throw shooter. He is averaging literally, almost 10 free throws a game in the playoffs. 9.8 to be exact. Makes the first LeBron is in with a 10 point first quarter heading to the bench doors. How pleased is Frank Vogel with the minutes with LeBron on the bench? He's got to be absolutely thrilled that he said That reserve group doesn't get a ton of attention because there's no. Six man of the year, but they all star in their roles. Davis both free throws, He's got nine Lakers now down four. I am out of bio live. It finds drug. It's lefty jumper from the baseline. Missed everything. Kyle Kuzma has it. Lakers worked out as many as 13 down four. Kyle stops inside. The art gives it to LeBron with 20 to go in the first, James against out of bio bullies his way down deep tries to get in gets contact. Missed it, and we'll go to the free throw line. Is that now too on Bam, Otto Bio in quick succession. Here it is. Two fouls on that. A byline with 1 16 mark to go in the first he absolutely cannot afford. Hello trouble. They need his speed on the defensive end. They need his presence as a passer is on the offensive end, They'd almost be able to endure Jimmy Butler or Goran Dragic's spell Trouble. Jay, I think that this guy no question. First free throw for LeBron James is good. It will be Erik Spoelstra going. Derrick Jones Jr. Family head to the bench for the final 76 seconds of the first. At least it's probably going to be more than 76 seconds and you've gotta watch what's happening on the boards. Lady on the previous place. Just moved. Andre Doll out of the way. You have to think LeBron knew he had on him, and he went right at them at a bio second free throw. Good bye. James and the Lakers have put it to 2 28 26 Miami still lead with minutes to go here in the first quarter drug. It's dribbling between the rings against Caruso using the screen from Jones Jones, the roller Never had it turns it over. So live it. Lakers come up floor down to LA for a D hero got in the way ball knocked out of bounds by Miami hero did a really good job because they ran ahead is anchored underneath the rim colleges jumped up. He was fronting him, and he got his hand on the ball knocked it out of bounds. 16 5 Laker runoff in about 80 with 55 seconds to go in the quarter dribbles down the posting. A double team turned shot hangs on the rim falls off Derrick Jones rebounds. It's stolen by James Lobs to therein for Davis makes the catch puts it in ties. The game at 28. Jones looks like he surprised he's in the game and he's not ready to play. That's two mistakes already. 18 5 Laker run after they fell behind by 13 half a minute to go in the first hero takes the pass on the left. Drives down the lane dishes to the cutting Jones throw his hands again Turns it over to the Lakers. Hard baseline cut couldn't come up with it. And Ella has about three seconds difference on the shot clock in the first quarter clock, which now hits 15 defensive pressure went to another level in the second half of this first quarter for the Lakers, James with 10 dribbling toward the three point line. Feeds Rondo in the post outside the corner. Caruso for three. Buries it. Lakers take the lead with four seconds to go in the first up ahead here over to Carroll along three of the Horn misses a 21 5 Lakers close to the quarter after Miami took the 13 point lead while they did it with defense. They only committed one fall. Tyler hero Duncan Robinson to me. Look like they're a little nervous. The other Miami players, with the exception of Derrick Jones, playing very well after one quarter in Game one of the 2020 N B, a Finals, the Lakers 31 the Heat 28. This is the end finals on ESPN Radio and the ESPN APP presented by indeed..

"You know to Miami, just making some really good defensive plays but by Jimmy Butler deflections. Derrick Jones Jr doesn't get a lot of press and wanna slam dunk title but a CZ PJ and Doris mentioned in the forth. You know Miami was slipping into the zone. And the big, long, rangy Derrick Jones without the front of it and was giving Boston all kinds of trouble. They just Miami mixed it up. Boston didn't recover from it when it was 17 in the second. You know, it did not feel like it was gonna be Miami's night. But you know how it is in the N B A. You got a lot of time left. Everybody makes a run. FOS friend of the show, Mark Castle from ESPN Radio MBA played by playing fame joining us here on Friday and Fitz Simmons on ESPN Radio on Sirius. XM Channel. 80. Don't forget to hit him on Twitter at Mark Castle, Sir. Is the fourth time in this playoff run that the Boston Celtic have lost a game in which they've had a double digit lead. It goes back to what you said about how the ball becomes stagnant. Why haven't teams like Boston or, for example, a team like the Los Angeles Clippers, who did the same thing when they got a big lead three times against the Denver Nuggets and 567? Why do teams get stagnant when they forget what Gotham that double digit lead in the first place? It seems like it's about PJ always phrases to me. He hates that early lead because you just for whatever reason, take a foot off the gas A little and And then you get into it get into a bad habit. And then the other team grabs that Mo mentum, and then it doubles down and it triples down and it's you know, it's hard to break that Mo mentum when it happens, and these teams are very evenly matched. I mean, you know, it could easily be Boston two as it is Miami to Oh, And you just have to long of a period like that, And that's what's frustrating. Brad Stevens is, you know he knows this team is better than Oh, to Marcus Lawrence. Frustrated, obviously. What you discussed from whatever happened in the locker room and the yelling and whatever, because they know that you know they are capable of playing so much better. But both these rooms, you know, have the ability to make you look bad for a five or seven minutes stretch and it is hard to put your finger. I don't want to keep You know, blaming or putting anything on the fact that we're in the bubble and you don't have that crowd to kind of get you going at a particular point in time. You have to kind of bring the energy. Maybe that's part of it, too. But it is It's got to be very frustrating for the Celtics, I remember were up 20 on Toronto and then lost that crazy shot in Game three. I think they've lost five of seven. Since then. So they're here in the conference finals, but kind of picking a bad time. You know to have these offensive deficits if you will, over stretches of time. Testy when you hear Erik Spoelstra, Miami Heat head coach say everyone wants to talk about Exes and oh's and game plans and match ups. But But for us, it's disposition. It's effort. You've been around him. We've been around this team for a while now. Your reaction to that comment from Spoelstra after this game. I believe him, But I also think he deflects a little bit from, you know, the really good job that he has done And that is players have done And maybe, you know, takes it off. The exit knows because we get our Coaches zoom, You know, 56 hours, you know, before games on game tastes and you know, the three of us are all trying to get him into. You know, some exit O talk and some adjustment talk, and he's really good. Talking about culture. And you know, just about all the attributes that you just described that the Miami Miami he'd have, and I believe him all I believe it is accurate, but I also think He takes some of the shine away from Look. He came in our young age with a team of veterans. You know, the best player of his era LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh had made it work. You know, after a tough start and was off to a great start to his young career, and you were waiting, you know, to see how Pat Riley would rebuild it. And with a team, you know, with Jimmy Butler as its star. And you know, some really good parts and a great trade made the trade deadline to get a guy like Crowder and to get a gondola on the bench. I mean, they They have transformed themselves into a really tough team. You know, you look at the roster of the four teams that air here or maybe of you know the 18 before that, Maybe it's not the one you pick just by looking at at names, but Kind of in line with what they're exposed for, says, You know, he'll go to war with that team every time because they play so well together. Grace about ESPN Radio's Mark Castle's joining Me Freddie Coleman. And if it's Simmons on Freddy and Fitz Simmons also searched down 80. I want to go out to these coaches zoom meetings. That you have before the game because we know how coaches are any question that they believe is trying to be covert. Begin information, Vague, clam right out. "Trying to get space. Take him all the way and Tatum locked up by damn bad, throws it and gets it into their hands. Derrick Jones Jr. What are blocked by Obama at a bio as Tate went into Simon down, and Bam said not a chance here in Orlando. Legitimately one of the greatest blocks you will ever see, legitimately know hyperbole one of the best blocks ever and I'm still not sure how his hand didn't snap right off his wrist on that play again was so great It was amazing. That game could carry an entire program except not today. On any other day, it could carry the entire show. But on this day, it's not even good enough to open the show because his wildest game one of the heat Celtics was Game seven off the Nuggets Clippers was that to the 10th power. And would be so tempting and so easy to start the program by clouding the Clippers so tempting to start the show by hammering the Clippers the way the Nuggets hammered the Clippers last night. And so tempting to start the program the way Twitter hammered the Clippers last night, Twitter finished off the Clippers before they even made back to the locker room. Like I don't know who's more fired up after last night, Nuggets fans or Laker fans because Laker nation is throwing up the car flags in planning a parade after seeing what they saw last night. And believe me, there is a whole lot to talk about when it comes to the Clipper collapse, and we will, But not before we put the respect on the nuggets that they so richly deserve that they're still not getting it. So before you do anything else, make damn sure you give the Nuggets and every last one of the Nuggets some bleeping credit. I mean, for really give themselves credit. I mean, for real, They earned it. They earned every bit of it from Tim Connelly and GM Calvin Booth to Michael Malone and his coaching staff, including West on so, junior. I've got some love on this show earlier this week and on TV last night to every single player on that roster, they earned it just like they earn this rager in a makeshift locker room in Florida last night. "Okay, shout outs to the folks listening on serious sex. Some channel 206 is well. Let's get down to business. We just saw an amazing basketball game, the Eastern Conference finals. They are officially underway and guess what happened. We gotta close game. It was an amazing game. The Miami heat They pull off. Ah, shocking. I don't want to say shocking but a thrilling victory over the Boston Celtics won 17 toe 1 14 at one point in time. If you want to think about just how the game started the Miami Heat. We're down by 13 in the first quarter. By the time we got to the fourth quarter, the Miami Heat were down. 14 points again. And last week I told you, I said, I believe this series is going seven games. And I also chose the Boston Celtics because I think they have a little bit more offensive firepower. But then when you go ahead and look through the box score tonight, that was quite the opposite. Jimmy Butler 20 in some big shots that we will actually here in a second. Obama at a bio 18 points big block to seal the game crowd, or 22 Goran Dragic's 29. Silent hero. He was one assist away from a triple double 12 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. Jason Tatum 30 points Marcus Smart kept bombing awayfrom three once again, 26. Kemba Walker. He's still in a shooting slump. He had some big shots, but it was ugly. Kemba Walker finished with 19 points, one of nine from downtown jail in Brown shipped in 17. Now I told you that the Miami Heat they were down 14 points in the fourth quarter. What happened? They went on a run, obviously, and it looked like the game was done. Jimmy Butler knock down a big three pointer look like this whole game was going to be over, But Derrick Jones committed a foul in overtime, allowing Jalen Brown or Excuse me, Jason Tatum. To go to the free throw line, tie the game and and also take the lead on the ensuing possession. So what do we get extra basketball and overtime until Jimmy Butler I went to the basket in overtime. So basically give the heat on 1 15 1 14 lead and this is what that Jimmy Butler's shot sounded like via Heat radio. But ER, now against Tatum.

Yeah, we had a scary moment in the N B, a bubble in today's game between Miami and Indiana Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. 66 to 10 tried to run through a screen and was hit in the shoulder. Neck area. He fell to the floor face down. He stayed down for several minutes. Trainers attended to him, put a neck brace on him and placed him on a gurney. And finally, he was wheeled off the floor. He was moving his arms and legs, but clearly in a lot of pain. Derrick Jones Jr is a slam dunk champion. He was a backup for the heat. He played one year at UNLV. Undrafted in 2016 he signed with Phoenix. He played two years with the sons.
