This time last year we were discussing will they be the first zero in 17 team in NFL history. They have moved all the way up to 29th in our rankings. That is the Houston Texans Connor. What is the deal with the Texans? The Texans are a team that is building some sort of football death star behind the scenes, but is operating as a quaint mom and pop organization in the meantime. So lovey Smith is there. Davis mills seems okay. In order to convince people that they aren't tanking, they resign Brandon cooks, and then leaked to everybody like C, we signed Brandon cooks. We're not tanking. So yeah, that's that. But they do have really cool young players. They drafted really cool players this year. And that's hard for anybody to ignore, I think. They did. And if I could throw a dash of pessimism out here about the Texans, last year, so they went four and 13 last year. That was, I think we all agree a huge over achievement, but the more I look at that team, they had so many veterans, like fringy veterans. It wasn't a youth movement. It was just a teen full of fringy veterans. It's like, okay, well, they should be a professional football team. To some extent, because, you know, it's not like you're throwing out a bunch of sink or swim type guys. That said, yeah, I love the Derek stingley pick this year. They are loading up on better young talent at this point. We'll see if Davis mills is a starting quarterback in the NFL or not. And yeah, I don't know. All things considered with what went on in the past like two or three years there. Not terrible. This is going kind of okay. They are, it's almost as if like enron had the chance to rebrand. You know, and so they're just like, yeah, we're not the Houston Texans. We're just like the Houston guys for Texas, you know?

"The board falls, I think in terms of value of what they'll get there at 21, I think that Trevor penning the offensive tackle from northern Iowa has to be on their list. He was my pick in my patriots mock. I don't think he's perfect. I don't know if he's a left tackle for sure. I think he's without question he'll be sort of a Pro Bowl all pro right tackle, sort of like, you know, a vollmer. I mean, I do see when you watch him, I do see like a mix between Matt light and Nate solder on the left side, but he needs development. He's very aggressive. He's kind of an a hole, which I like. In my lineman, but you know, a lot of his mistakes he makes just being stupid and over aggressive as far as trying to like, you know, kill a guy on a block where if you just, if you just settle down and just play this technique, if he gets a good coach, I think he can be an excellent left tackle. So petting is a guy that I would look at. Cornerback, this is probably gonna be sweet spot for them with cornerback. They should have options here. I think that as far as guys, guys that I like for them and I'm not conning, you know, sauce gardener, he's gonna be going. I did include Derek stingley junior on my list from LSU because I think there's a lot of questions about his medical, he might get in an arrangement where the Patriots could trade up for him. If he's available and he checks out for the Patriots, sting Lee, I'm definitely going for him. I think he's Uber talented. Yes, it was freshman year film was out of the charts, wasn't so good the past couple of years, 21 pass breakups as a freshman, 5 the next two years and ten games combined in two years. A lot of concerns there. But holy mackerel, they get to play her from the freshman year. Dynamite, no doubt, number one cornerback. I don't know how you can't take a serious look at that. I really like Andrew booth from Clemson, good physical guy, long limbered, will tackle, I think he can definitely play man coverage. I know there's some questions on it. Trump mcduffie has been a hot guy that people have talked about with the Patriots. You know, I like them. I would put, I would put Trent mcduffie daxton hill for Michigan. They're sort of in the.

Diane rossini, Mike tannenbaum, and Matt Miller, a packed show over the next hour. And we are so close, Mike. We can feel the buzz of the NFL Draft. And I want to know which pick you are most excited to see come Thursday night. Oh, feel for me. That's easy. That's Jameson Williams. The talented wide receiver from the university of Alabama field in the biggest game of the year before the championship game, the SEC championship game. He was unbelievable. Georgia couldn't defend him. He changed the game, and if he was healthy, he could be the first pick in the draft. I still expect him to go maybe in the top 12, but to me he is the next tyreek hill when healthy. I'm excited to see what the Houston Texans do at number three. Yes, they also have number 13. They could make some moves, but they need some help on their defensive line, specifically 28th overall defense. Last year, could Trayvon walker be available at that number three spot, if not, could cave on timbo be available at that number three spot, guys who can get after the quarterback, guys who can affect offenses. I'm excited what Houston does. I can not wait. There will be a problem in Houston. Now you guys are such suckers for the top of the draft. There's a lot more to this out of the top ten, like the Kansas City Chiefs, right? We know Tyree kill is no longer there. We heard head coach Andy Reid and even Patrick Mahomes basically say they don't really think there's gonna be a lot of difference. I don't know. I'm not really buying that. It's tough to replace tyreek hill. So what are they going to do? Are they going to move up in this draft to go get a receiver or state path there and perhaps come up with a big defender? So I'm interested to see what the chiefs decide. I'm also interested to see what the choose to die in about. How about the intrigue at number one overall? What do I have to wait very long on Thursday night to see what the Jacksonville Jaguars do potentially spin this draft around an entirely will it be travon walker? Will it be 8 in a Hutchinson, maybe a surprise, even like icky aguano, but I know we're all kind of sitting here waiting to see what actually happens with Trent balky and Doug Peterson on the clock and Jacksonville. Yeah, the first time they're making a pick as a new regime mat of course. The second straight year, though the Jacksonville leads off the draft, not as much, I would say last year we knew it was happening, right? It was certainly from the very beginning, they're taking Trevor Lawrence, but Mike, let me ask you, if the Jacksonville Jaguars do in fact draft Trayvon walker number one overall, would you like to pick? No. One production with our level of pick overall. And he only has 6 sacks and healing played 52% of the snaps of defensive end. We don't want a projection with the number one overall pick. We want certainty and there's a lot of great things to love about Trayvon walker, but certainly isn't one of them. Well, Mike T, here's the issue with that. He played 52% of the snaps because George's defense say consistently rotated their defensive lines. They have some dogs literally on that line. Guys like Nolan Smith, who is at the top number one overall, a high school athlete coming out. They have so many dominant players. So that's why there was so much rotation. Now, I don't think Trayvon walker should be the number one overall pick. I like 800 production over Trayvon walker. But when it comes to being a dominant football player, talking about technique, talking about playing all over the field, three technique, dropping into coverage, affecting the quarterback in the backfield, Trayvon walker is that dude. But the question is, can that translate to always being a Russia in the NFL on the edge? I don't know if it will at the number one overall pick. Yeah, so I think that is the biggest question right now is you're betting on upside your bedding on almost physical traits over production on the field which 8 and Hutchinson had a ton of. We look at trevon walker. Yes, he turned it on against Michigan and Alabama in the college football playoffs, but Ken Jacksonville put him in a similar situation to have success, opposite Josh Allen. They have invested a lot in their defensive line the previous regime did with Caleb on chase on also being a first round pick at LSU. So I look at this trevon walker. It's the upside pick versus the more sure thing in Aidan Hutchinson. It's tough for me to get on board with because we just don't know what type of player walker will be when he's asked to play all three downs. It's something he never did at Georgia. Not saying he can't do it, but it's definitely something we haven't seen him do. And that type of risk at the top of the draft would be really tough for me to get on board with. When you have a proven player like Hutchinson sitting right there. But walker does in fact land number one in Matt Miller 7 round mock draft, which is now available on ESPN dot com. Perhaps the biggest surprise of that draft, at least in the early picks, is Derek stingley junior going third overall in the Houston Texans. Sauce gardener has been the first quarterback off the board and a lot of mock trash recently, but Matt has garnered going to the jets. We're going to trade up in a projected trade with the Panthers number 6 overall. So Matt right back to you, why do you have Jerry singling going third overall of Houston, Texans? Yeah, I think we're mock drafts. Those of us who do these for a living, you have to always remind people, it's what you're hearing, not always what you would do. And I think the connections from the Houston Texans to Derek Stanley junior throughout the past week is something that I've heard nonstop folks at LSU told me no team has done more work on Derek Steele junior. They have an obvious need at the corner position. They really have an obvious need almost everywhere, but quarterback and left tackle right now though. So I think the Texans can stay pat and take a player who were he healthy, would be one of the best players in this draft class and throughout the process has proven he's medically ready and he's ready to be back to that player that we saw dominate in 2019. The concern with Derek stingley is durability. He's played one full season of going back to his freshman year while the talent is undeniable. We don't know what we're getting and look no further than Ben Simmons and the Brooklyn Nets. He comes over in a high profile trade for James Harden, never plays the nets get swept and the people that are actually making the decisions come Thursday night are humans and they're going to be influenced by recent events and when you talk to some people around the league, people knows what happened or didn't happen in Ben Simmons case where he wasn't available. So hopefully Derek stingley has a great career in this injury bug is behind him, but when you think about him compared to someone like sauce garter who didn't miss a game at Derek stingley, again, only played one full season. That will be a factor in determining who goes first between stingley and garda. Well, Mike T, hopefully these humans were watching film of Derek stingley as opposed to watching the NBA playoffs because if you watch the film of Derek Stanley junior, he is a dominant force when he's on that football field freshman year he was dominant literally every time he put on the tape, you just you're in awe. Like you think about guys like Patrick Peterson got who played at LSU right TRE davious white. All these different guys who were dominant. He followed in that same line. And so for me, I get really, really excited about Derek stingley junior not just because what he did in his pro day and his 40 time and how smooth he looked in his drills and being healthy, but the type of football player is a type of technician. He is his eyes are always in the right place at the right time. That's why he's always affecting the game in a dominant way. You know, who would have thought that Ben Simmons, by the way, was going to make it into NFL live, that highlight package we have cut up right there. This involved much on court.

I think if you look at the, you know, the market for receivers is like exploding, so teams will see this as a potential value to come in and grab receivers that can play on a rookie deal. You're saving millions and millions and millions of dollars with these guys potentially coming in. Yeah, the tyreek, the Tyreke Adams deals. It's almost like, yeah, it's like the cousin of The Rookie QB salary thing. The ritual had receiver salary thing. So I think there could be something there. Plus I just think if you really stack the board, a lot of these receivers are like some of the best players in the draft period. So I could see teams just being like, look, we're going to take the best player on our board. And this is this receiver. So you're taking a little bit like the Metcalf, AJ Brown, deebo, that whole year. Yes. Face their famine plus McCall Hardman. Was he that year? Okay. All right, last prediction. Last prediction is there's going to be at least one super random dude in round one that I'm going to have to end up writing up on Thursday night because he's not in my top 100. A total monkey wrench. Out of left field guy lands in the first round, and I'm going to be like, what? And I'm going to have to go and write him up real quick to put him in our draft guide. Let's do a hundred. There's just like, like you said, a 120 players that could be no late first rounders or whatever it is. There's just such a huge plateau there. And I had a really hard time narrowing my top 100 down because of that reason. There's probably going to be some random offensive tackle that sneaks into the first round. That's not on my mind. Oh, my God. I hope it's not to the Patriots. It sounds like Belichick's dream draft. All right, we have 40 seconds left. What do you want to Seattle to do? What's your dream Seattle scenario?
