Tyson Foods Orders Trump To Cease And Desist

"Bad news for the president on this. President's Day the trump campaign received a cease and desist letter this morning from Tyson foods demanding that the president stop playing their slaughterhouse recordings his rallies trump. Joining us here in the studio is senior political analyst. Dirk mullins who was actually at the trump rally in question. Leslie so dirk. Why is Tyson foods so mad? Tyson foods is upset because yesterday. President Trump played a twenty minute audio loop of pigs screaming cows being slaughtered and chickens having their next snapped to pump up a raucous fifteen thousand person crowd. Take a listen. We don't want that sound. You just heard. That's a cow being stun gun in front of its cavs and trump apparently never asked permission nor paid any licensing fee to use it. Okay but dirk for months now. Trump has been walking out onto the stage to recordings of Tyson's Dakota city beef packing plant at his rallies. What chain well yesterday. A video surfaced from the rally showing the Maga- crowd moaning along to the sounds of an entire farm full of piglets being electrocuted at once. But the real problem came when trump started waving his arms along to it like a conductor and declared it his quote favourite track of all time. Will it's unlike president trump to stay? Quiet has his campaign responded they have. Here's what deputy White House counsel Jim. Mcnamara had to say this morning to set the record straight Oliver Venues heavy performance rights organization license in place. Also president trump would like to add that he didn't see Tyson complaining when Hillary and bill danced at the DNC fundraiser. To the sounds of two headed cow being thrown off of a rough Tyson facility also in response. Mr Trump has reportedly hired a slaughterhouse crew to Tyson uniforms and throw live animals into the engines of Air Force. One while he's unstaged during his next rally interesting. That's how they make hotdogs right exactly. Well we'll see how old is plays out. Thank you thank you Leslie

CI a and White House lawyers began following up on the complete the CIA officer became nervous according to a person familiar with the matter. this is either leaked by his lawyer or by committee staff. he learned that John Eisenberg a deputy White House counsel the legal advise the national security adviser was among those scrutinizing his initial allegation. this is an attempt at explaining why he had to go to the committee. I had no choice every body was tensed me here I am. minding my own business I'm a CIA agent at the White House. minding my own business collecting information about this phone call trying to access the transcript but they moved it to a safe and secure place so I couldn't read it. trying to get information from people with first hand knowledge. even though I'm a partisan it doesn't mean I'm a partisan. I've got to get the in and nobody will listen and look they're talking to the White House all my. and the CIA well look how they're handling this I gotta get help where should I go okay Adam Schiff staff course. they'll help me. I'll go to Adam Schiff stay. one of. so CIA and White House lawyers began following up on the complaint the CIA officer became nervous according to prepare a person familiar with the matter his lawyer he learned that John Eisenberg a deputy White House counsel in the legal adviser to the national security adviser was among those scrutinizing his initial allegation contact to the National Security Council had also told the CIA officer that the White House lawyers had authorize records of Mr trump's call was a Lynskey to be put in a highly classified computer system so now they're leaking like hell. before he testifies in a week or two. they're leaking like hell so all the so called journalists can start spending now well the phony former federal prosecutors can start spending now. and so the Democrats can develop their defenses. meaning that the lords were now helping the CIA investigate the officers allegations were the same ones implicated in them the officers allege the White House sage decision to store the call records more restrictively once had suffered abuse of the system. I had to go to Schiff's office. and I had a wrap myself in a whistle blower. status and complex are you didn't have any knowledge of another you don't understand. I'm courageous. what happened next well let's look at the New York times. the CIA officer decided the complaint he had brought to ms outward the general counsel. is at risk of being swept aside. prompting him to go to the lawmakers who conduct oversight of the intelligence agency I had nowhere else to go. I tried. I had nowhere else to go. the follow the advice of Mr Schiff Satan filed his complaint to Mister Atkinson the inspector general and the Mister McGuire the acting deputy national intelligence director blocked him from forty to Congress. he did allow Mister Atkinson to notify lawmakers of his existence. the poor man was blocked at every turn. he had. all kinds of newspaper articles and secondhand information that he wanted to turn over. to the house intelligence committee Mr Schiff at specific. unbelievable new stores said he does not believe. what yes yes. the complaint was filed in consultation with a lawyer official said mark your batting a thousand. you should be playing for the Yankees. the intelligence community whistle blower follow the advice of legal counsel from the beginning said injured but back catch. back catch a course work for Schumer and Clinton. the lead counsel for the whistleblower the laws and processes have been filed. well by god. filing a complaint with the inspector general gave the whistle blower added protections against reprisals also allowed and legal reporting classified information. white house intelligence committee members are allowed to. receive classified whistle blower complaints while house committee or or they're not allowed to make such complaints public according to a former official by the time the whistle blower filed his complaint Mr Schiff in a staff knew at least vaguely what it contained thankfully. thank. my god. I thank the good lord for the CIA agent. if we didn't have a rogue spy at the White House a partisan Roque's by. gathering information trying to hunt down the transcript. sharing information vaguely of course. but Mr Schiff the house intelligence committee where will be baited. where would we be today. we must get rid of this love us president we must get rid of it. and this man this noble. whistleblower who's a patriot scale courageous. is worthy of a ticker tape parade. I mean trying wrapped around headway well I'm trying to figure out what the anti trust violation would be there somehow saying that that it might might represent a collusive practice and that it might somehow harm competition yeah in the sense that they wouldn't allow certain kind of cars to be made or something it's impossible to know what they're saying because it's it's can I just say this it's idiotic it's idiotic it's idiotic okay let's get gone what do you really think about this chat I think it's idiotic but no I actually think it's worse than idiotic because I think it's a. it's an example yet again of trump using the federal government as a weapon to bludgeon his enemies or even people he disagrees with I mean yeah yeah you know it was bad enough that he gets though the the Noah. to lie about whether the he's the hurricane was gonna hit Alabama okay that's bad that is and then it it's contract to kind of disgraceful but this is you know these are car companies that are actually want to have less pollution they want to have higher emission standards they want to have more miles per gallon. I wish California has long been the standard bearer for emissions and you know Tom in a classic fashion is is it part of destroying the Obama legacy is trying to lower the federal emission standards and the car companies would actually prefer to be with California on this well for the sake of argument. could they have gotten together before they approach California and settled on emission standard that was less than California could have gotten well actually they have done that they didn't do that are the California in it in the negotiation California has lower has decided to lower its proposed standards a little bit not a lot but a little bit there's no question that that came about in a ghost chasing with the four companies and and even of the four companies did it together it's not any different than a lobbying organization which represents ten or twelve or fifteen companies going to the federal government and trying to negotiate for their industry that's that's what's going on here so I mean if this is an anti trust violation in every single thing that happens in Washington is an antitrust violation to are you positing that president trump is directing the anti trust division or that the anti trust division is doing what they think you might like I think it's more the latter than the former don't don't forget that making del rock him who's the head of the anti trust division was the deputy White House counsel before he got his current position. and you know as I said in the column he knows where his bread is buttered I so I don't even think they need to talk to the White House I think if he knows exactly you know what what he needs to do to stay on comes good side and I'm a by the way I think it's reprehensible but this is just an investigation they haven't brought that's a lawsuit yeah that's correct it's just an investigation maybe I'll just go away maybe it'll just be forgotten maybe the justice department is hoping that trump will move on to some other thing and it'll all be forgotten will will have to say he California AG has basically been doing battle with the trump administration since the administration began they have more lawsuits than any other state this will end up probably being another one of those and if this goes forward it will undoubtedly be a number not another one of those in may California five its fiftieth food fifty of lawsuit against the federal government that's their two issues here one is the issue around the emissions come wanting to lower the admissions and one in the car companies to go on the other issue is wanting to curb the independent power of California because he hates California California is the enemy and by the way California views him as the enemy I was going to say I don't yeah is a mutual relationship will dislike society yeah so this is working on all cylinders when you get right down to it does California have the edge because they have that waiver yes my colleague Noah Feldman noted this a couple years ago after not professor how yes Harvard law professor and Bloomberg opinion column as Noah Feldman mention if the I a couple of years ago is not just that the EPA has granted a waiver to California to set its own standards it's that the for the written into the clean air act. is a provision that the EPA must grant this waiver to California and less California standards one wants to make a stand is lower than the federal government but as long as California wants to make them higher it has every legal right to do this and so you know if the trump administration basically says we're gonna preamp California's law and we're gonna say the federal law rules and then you can no longer do this California will sue.

Mass shootings could prompt Supreme Court to sidestep cases seeking to expand Second Amendment rights

"Martin president trump says conversations are under way about possible legislation on guns in the days since the mass shootings in el Paso and Dayton the president has been talking to leaders in Congress in both parties he's also been talking to the national rifle association there's no president that feels more strongly about the second amendment that I do however we need meaningful background Jack and from there speaking with reporters outside the White House this morning NPR's Franco or Dona as was there and joins us now from the White House hi Frank up hello so earlier today on this program we heard from deputy White House press secretary Hogan Gidley who when pressed was very vague about what specific gun control proposals the president would support did the president himself get into any details the president himself is not getting into more specific details he is continuing to kind of continue the same line that he has been saying over the last couple of days just saying that he wants meaningful background checks but without any specific he's talking about red flag laws he did mention that there could be some support for legislation from that's being proposed by to meet that involves some background checks but really he's not getting down to any details it's much difference for example than what the house is proposing proposing analysts some of the things that he is per pass talked about like the red box red flag laws kind of putting in protection for mental health these are things that actually he's rolled back in the past so there are still a lot of questions but at least at this point he's leaving the door open to talking and have keeping the conversation going but this is this is sort of happened before I mean we've seen the president talk about the need to address gun violence even leaving the door open for possible gun control legislation and then he has a conversation with the NRA and then it's all walked back I mean how how's he dealing with those gun rights advocates right now yeah exactly I mean in the past president trump has said that he's not afraid of the NRA he said that today he is kind of mocked his own Republican colleagues saying that they're afraid of the NRA now we asked him today whether he could do something without that hit their support he said yes he could but he didn't expect it to come to that now some of these proposals president trump said that he wasn't positive that the NRA would love them he says they understand the need for background checks but he also said they may be neutral on some of the proposals and he said that would be okay what was also interesting though is that president trump was repeating that the NRA also knows that president trump has done so much for them including getting two Supreme Court justices on the court who are supportive of the second amendment so you mentioned the house bill that passed with bipartisan support in February but it stopped there it's not the only piece of legislation floating around right what just give us a little in right now yeah there's two grams ripple there's two grand legislation that has to do with these red flag rules which would prevent or which would help me mentally ill you know be able to take guns away from the mentally ill there's the mansion to me legislation that is about expanding background checks but McConnell has stopped short and McConnell's talked about some of these things but he stopped short of assault weapons he did say something earlier about that but he's not he's kind of backing off whether they will deal band and one thing is he's he's not saying they will definitely pass something but he's saying that the Senate will discuss legislation in September when their schedule to return so there's still a lot

"deputy white house" Discussed on KFI AM 640

"Leave us a message one eight one eight five nine that's one eight one eight five six six four seven eight nine. We're gonna have a guy on after three o'clock by the name of HOGAN Gidley who was HOGAN Gidley John HOGAN Gidley was on the show once before I think you yes. Yeah. The deputy White House press secretary. Yeah, he's pretty sure I'm glad you remembered usually don't remember anybody's name. Well, HOGAN Gidley stood out. I guess he went with Trump to the border of Texas today. He'll give us his impressions on Trump's visit to amp up the need for border security. It'll come up at three oh five. So here's the story from NBC news, actually, really a couple of very funny stories from the NBC news website today, and John one of them. And it's it's titled the doomsday scenario. Here's what happens if the shutdown drags on. And I tell ya you better get ready. We may have to leave the country if it's going to be this dire because twenty five percent of the government shutdown. Everything's gonna tumble. Listen to the exact which tells me if that's true man, we weren't really hanging onto much more. Now, it didn't take much just a little bit of government ceases to operate. And we're done this. This guy is named. I guess it's a guy Darah Gregorian. You can't tell anymore. Nobody has has normal name Darah DARE anyway. Any talked to Mark Zandi chief economist at Moody's analytics who said we'll be a no man's land. The country would face an economic L scape. If the government shutdown last months or even years Trump, of course, it said is usual incredible exaggeration. I'm ready to go years here with his shutdown the doomsday scenario might be unlikely, but it is chilling. If the worst were to happen experts say, the devastating impact would be widespread, and they have all these bullet points bullet point number one, thirty eight million low-income Americans would lose their food stamps. Wow. You might have to go get a better job dance. Yeah. This this. This is what passes for devastating you lose food stamps. We gotta go you gotta you gotta get more work. You gotta get better work. No, they'll starve six million face. An uncertain timetable for collecting tax refinance a lot of people depend on those tax refunds end or just want. So they could blow it. Oh, I think there are people that look forward to it and on it. But depend. This little. No the government held onto their money interest free for a year. They should do a little better with their withholdings. So this is a stupid penalty. Yeah, you're stupid. But I know you can't get zero don't the government money that doesn't know you money, but you probably could come close if your tax refund is delayed is that an economic health scape. Is that a doomsday scenario is it shelling is a devastating. I doubt it. Two million will be without rental assistance facing possible. Eviction two million. We have a lot of welfare, why don't you go? Get a better job. Holy mac. Yeah. We do. This is just is there all the people on the dull, and there's no excuse for being on the dole in this kind of economy. There isn't eight hundred thousand paycheck, less federal employees will be plunged into dire financial straits. Yeah. I heard that some of them are driving. Uber's the. See that story. Workers in the DC area. Yes. Some of them are TSA workers who are on the furlough here without without the pace up. There are no there are no rides is. Everybody's out of work. Really ridiculous shuttered parts of museums. Well, over stress airports caused tourism to tank I just traveled over the actually I traveled a couple times during the government shutdown. I didn't notice it was with the holiday period. Yeah. It was a lot of stress and a lot of people. But I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary when the air traffic controllers finally have had it that one. Yeah, they walk off the job. And we're just left to chaos in the air federal court system slows to across. Oh, no already at a crawl disaster relief money doesn't get to storm ravaged areas. How hard is it just a fly Cechova, right? Yeah. I don't understand. That's really scary. Trump could drive around. I guess they can't issue the check because oh, this is good lapsed FDA an EPA inspections lead to dangerous outbreak. Yes. Yes. I think they put more on this story. Oh, yeah. The food and Drug administration has already stopped most food inspections that raises the risk of salmonella e-coli enlists mysterious. Go. Bad bowel season. This is going to be horrific. Private companies looking to go public are stuck in limbo. No, although PEOs all those Weiner tech executives with their fake companies. Fake windfall nine finally the stock market plummets. Yes. All of this while I you know, we're held up by twenty five percent of the government and our economy depends on including our stock markets. This country really was not holding on too much that listen to this guy. Mark Zandi again. He's the chief economist at Moody's analytics way is this one of the companies that. A gave like real good credit ratings to all the companies involved in the mortgage scandal the mortgage, man, I trust these guys. If the standoff persists. It's game over you'll have a pretty severe recession said Gandhi and given the trade war with Trump, China and Brexit looming. You could start seeing some pretty dark scenarios worldwide. But this is a guy to invite to a party. Oh, man. Mr. happy, the near term impact. According to another analyst is people getting addicted having their turned off and not having enough food up because the government shutdown. Yeah. And it's what I said at the beginning of the hour. You could work a lot of people, including Darah Gregorian who just believes that government is the linchpin society and the president at the center, really, I saw get a life. There are five hundred thousand. Half a million unfilled factory jobs right now. Five hundred thousand unfilled factory jobs. Why does this in the food stamp crowd? Or they rental assistance crowd. There's gotta be a database that lists the five hundred thousand openings you ought to be able to fill one of them. And that's just a manufacturing. We're still at pretty record low unemployment rates, right? Yes. So that means the economy is still going. There are a few hundred thousand government workers eight hundred thousand federal employees without a paycheck, and how many how many how many tens of one hundred hundred million of people working in this country. Yeah. It's probably like one hundred and twenty hundred thirty million people who work more. I don't see how this plunges economic darkness. Well, yeah, you're not one of these analysts who were always wrong know about the IRS. It says here they won't be able to pay tax refunds during the shutdown. The agency is coming up with a plan to call back more employees, but they'll face an avalanche of backed up work by February two of last year. They'd received over eighteen million returns and processed over six million refunds your IRS. Check comes late big deal that plan that does not plunge the world into darkness. Here's here's another thing. Who is who is this guy? This guy's name is Bruce zealous else's first. Name sounds like an illness that cows get through. Yes. If you get a Bersell infection. I think you end up you have to get your ass removed. I may have been confused by what is his. He says, okay. Eight hundred thousand government employees weren't getting paid during the shutdown. Half of them are still working in the story. Listen to this. This is so contradictory workers are going to have to start walking out and find better paying jobs. No. Joseph Bruce L chief economist for the accounting firm r s m US people. So if they're going to walk out of the government job to get better paying jobs, then why can't the food stamp and read assistance crowd go and get a better job. Yeah. I say he's saying that the government workers are gonna walk away from their jobs and get something better. Well, good. That's what they ought to be doing any time. You can get better work in life that pays more than you. Go take it both. So why doesn't that apply to the food stamp crowd? Why does it apply to the reds assistance crowd? There are hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of jobs out there. That are unfilled technically. There are more people who are looking for work than there are job openings good that there's only seven hundred people left at the EPA Environmental Protection Agency thirteen thousand employees only seven hundred is still working. This means they have to scale back inspections only with a threat to human life or property is imminent will they do any inspections? They go. All right. Well, I for one think we ought to get going again. Then I'm convinced. There's your mom again is here is your chilling doomsday scenario scary. All right. We got more coming up. We will have a presidential spokesman deputy press secretary coming on at three oh five to talk about Trump's visit to the border in Texas today. John and Ken show KFI. Debra Mark has sorry..
