"Will it be. Will they look as good. Because like i said two touchdowns got taken off the board to penalties yesterday and demonte as he had an interception on one and then mike. Parsons had that big time sack. We'll talk about. Michael parsons in the five takeaway. Sirnak but mike parsons. Had that big sack. That knocked them back. They pick up some extra yardage on third and goal and then have to field wall. So that's an eleven point. Swing do two penalties pulling touchdowns off the board so there was a little bit of fortuitous laundry on the field for the cowboys yesterday but there was a lot there that they did that. They stepped up and made plays and they handle business and credit to the whole coaching staff. Mike mccarthy included for putting them in a position to really challenge the chargers on their field. I didn't think there was any chance that the charter scored fewer than thirty points. And they held him to seventeen. It was a really impressive performance by the defense despite the uncle as they were gonna they were giving up a lot there. The game opens with two big chunk. Plays of twenty plus yards to austin clarion keenan allen and then digs gets the pick and then they settled down and then when dak prescott is picked off by asante samuel. They locked down. They don't break last year. That team broke consistently and this is a couple of weeks in a row where they have not broken when things get tough and i think that's very encouraging especially on the defensive side. I think that's a lot of credit to dan. Quinn and the mentality that he's brought and the culture that he's cultivating nine some of your leg. You should give mike mccarthy. I i will. I mean mike. Mccarthy deserves credit for improving the culture the season and for hiring coaches that could help improve the culture But i think a large part of this what we're seeing so far as dan. I made the comment on twitter yesterday. That going for mike nolan. Dan cohen feels a little like going from deontay thompson to amari cooper. Maybe a little bit of an exaggeration. It's only been two games but it's the same sort of just fresh air feeling. I feel like that. It was when amari cooper got here and it's like oh we have a receiver we have an actual threat. You know we're not just roland slaps out there. Same sort of thing. I think it feels just refreshing like oh we got a guy who actually knows how to design a defence. A guy who the game has not passed him by a guy who these players believe. And i think that's a a big encouragement for the cowboys moving forward for the chances in this division. Especially now with you know. Washington beat the giants on thursday night but the eagles lost to san francisco. And you're in a three way tie one. You know one on one across the board with the giants pulling up the rear there too and so you could have found yourself potentially in a troubling whole had you lost that game and had philly been able to steal that one from san francisco philly played really well in the first half philly played better than san francisco in the first half of that game. And you know they went for two in the fourth quarter made it seven eleven where they got the ball back and make a drive down the field. They were going to be in a position to score a game winning touchdown and potentially be to know and so i mean obviously it's a bounce here bounce there and ultimately got dallas in philly at one on one but that could have been incredibly incredibly stressful week for the cowboys heading into the monday night game next week if phillies to and on your own too. And you're looking at digging a three-game hole that early in the season and and losing division game you know that could have been really disastrous for the cowboys and so with that pressure on minimal as it may be. It's not december pressure but with that pressure on. They stepped up and they did what they needed to do. And the team last year wouldn't have done that so a lot to feel really good about a lot. That still needs to be cleaned up. I'm not gonna play complete. Debbie downer but i mean there are things that need to be cleaned up there. There's the clock management at the end of the game. Which i know our buddy. Rj ocho who oversees blogging. The boys and is essentially my boss. You know not. This is my bossier on you. Know this podcast. But my boss in life the guy looked to for all sorts of guidance in my world are didn't have a problem with it. He talked about it on the post game show. He didn't have a problem with how the clock management when at the end of the game. I have a big problem with that if they were essentially planning to. Just run the clock down on. Kick a fifty six yard field goal with kicker. Who's been struggling. That's bad that's a terrible idea. But even if that wasn't it and mike mccarthy talked about a post game in fact we'll play the clip brooke. This is mike mccarthy. Talking postgame about How the clock management situation when at the end where they went from basically thirty seconds on the clock. Hand off tony pollard. And a time out in their pocket.

"Hi welcome back. It is the nfc's mix tape. He has biaggi howie. Roseman declined comment from us. To answer would have been the philadelphia eagles head coach. If frank reich can never left. I can't imagine how he would not want to answer that question you i. It's hard to say so the cowboys. What if. I know you're going to enjoy this but you actually helped inspire this When it was but when whenever we were talking about it was right after. Alex smith retired. Actually you said on the odd cast which you host on the explanation. Nfl show with rob stats. Grandma something that i had thought about before and that is what if alex smith never gets hurt. Obviously there's a lot to that but if he doesn't get hurt because at the time he does during the two thousand eighteen season the washington. Football team is leading the nfc east. And it's very conceivable that they win that outright. I mean and that that would have maybe been there most authentic division title at least in my eyes in some time because they obviously wanted in this past season but dak prescott was hurt. So it's hard to really kind of like consider that real again in my eyes and a lot of cowboys fans is and this in being in two thousand fifteen when they last won a tony romo hurt so you know like one of your biggest rivals in biggest threats is is either but anyway so my situation. My hypothetical involves washington to a degree. I don't know if you remember this but l. p. ladder. Serra who the cowboys moved on from this offseason allegedly. Because they don't want to see him. Pray in whitten's record for most games played by skyway one of the most reliable long snappers in literally. Nfl was called for a snap. Infraction which you know just left everybody aghast immune. Nobody understood what happened. But whatever called for a snap infraction. This is week. Seven of the two thousand eighteen season. At the time we're going to cowboys are in washington. They're three and three having come off of a big performance against the jacksonville jaguars the week before. They were struggling to kind of fully. Paint the picture to that point. They opened their season with a loss than a win. A loss that a win then a loss at houston where jason garrett punted in overtime which was embarrassing and then once they've been really really really rocky so it's week seven snap infraction as the cowboys are looking to tie the game with a brett maher forty seven yard field. My her In that season was not terrible. His first year replacing dan. Bailey didn't really get bad until the fathering anyway lp's called for the snap infraction. Tim moved back five yards. hits the upright The cowboys lose seventeen to twenty my hypothetical for you. Biaggi is what if he makes that field goal whether it's off the snap fraction of whatever maybe the not maybe the game is tied. That's just say the cowboys win and overtime. And if they do win and overtime biaggi that puts them at four and three as opposed to three and four which as you know like can dramatically affect the way team is viewed in the middle of the season so the cowboys are four and three. They actually stayed in our nation's capital of another day because they began their by week right after that they went in Had some team bonding exercises. But that very next day biaggi literally the very next day the monday after supper. Twenty seconds two thousand eighteen. They traded a first round. Pick from my cooper and so my first question to you is if they win. That game do they. Trade for him because it felt like a desperation move the time it really did. And that's why. I think you know some people. Nameless were septa couple of that trade. I honestly don't think they do. Because i think the cowboys just based on my understanding of them and you know better than me but i feel like they when things are going right for them. They're not like hey necessarily. let's add more. You could say the the cd lame thing. But that's a little different because you know it's a draft pick. This is trading one and a first round peg at that for player who had been kind of underachieving relatively in oakland still. Yes still oakland. At the time. In amari cooper so they do although i remember at the time i guess there was a lot of consternation about like who the cowboys receivers were. I mean who was. It wasn't like i was like terrance williams still back then. So it's in the context is this was the first year without dez bryant. They had moved on from days. In the off season They decided to go at things with a wide receiver by approach Was how they termed it. Yes cans was there. Michael gallup was rookie. A lot of people were excited about him. For understandable reasons cole beasley was still around Deontay thompson that's what. I'm trying to think Avon von osten And in fact the week before this game that we're talking about Which was week six when they they blew the doors off the jaguars they won. Forty two seven again. Not exactly something to brag about beating this particular jaguars team but i remember biaggi in the tunnel Walking by tyrone crawford who retired this off season I actually caught this video. And i tweeted out. He looked at all the reporters standing in. He went stop talking about our offense because they want forty seven. And it was like dude. You beat the jaguars like you know. And it was not exactly something to be pumped about. But that day cole beasley became the first one hundred yard receiver. The cowboys had on the season in week. Six so it was really this like the committee. Thing is not working. Which is why the rumors about amari were really percolating. And then i do think the loss was like straw that broke the camel's back but yes at that point. I do think if they had not only did tyrone crawford say that after they won. I don't know if you remember this biaggi. But after they beat the jaguars jerry jones hinted on local radio five through the fan that following week that he was thinking about extending jason garrett and his contract and And everybody freaked out like what are you doing like just because you beat the jaguars. That's no reason to do this. Whatever my point with that though is like when you win it dramatically shifts the way you view your team right like if the cowboys win this game. It would have been the first time all season. They would've won two games in a row. They would have been four and three and they would have been entering their bye week and they would have felt like okay. We got back on track or above five hundred. Let's just get the by to get settled in and for what it's worth. This was october twenty. Second like i said the trade deadline that year was october thirtieth. So it's now you can say like. Oh they because they did lose their next game which was their first one with amari But that that came on november fifth after the bye and that was a monday night. Game against tennessee so that the decision would have already been made at that point. I don't think that they trade for him. I really don't. Because i think that they fool themselves into into into this like they low themselves into this false sense of security like everything's fine. Everything's good. And i think that they start to really believe in jason garrett in that moment to teams definitely like to do that. I've seen the eagles in terms of like the super bowl dislike the run that gave so many players after the fact. We're bringing and jason peters back every year. we're bringing you know like this relied on too many and how he resume admitted it. He admitted he's been too sentimental. And i think you know the of the cowboys. It's used some great success just because they beat the jaguars but like okay. They're like okay. Things are turning. We don't make need to make a desperate trade..
