"Envy's injury on Sunday if you're looking at. The Eastern. Conference especially through six Boston Miami in Indiana like really good and in Philly at the moment scowl looks really depleted and like they could have a hard time regardless of their first round opponent is yeah. I mean I'll tell you what Boston is locked in from with their with their win tonight and the and Toronto win it solidifies top three. It's GonNa. Be Milwaukee Toronto Boston there's a little bit of play. I. Think with Indiana in Miami and they played two times in the next three games and they're probably going to match up with each other in the playoffs and then so Boston's GonNa Get Philadelphia Right now, and that's the team you WANNA play they are depleted. They got problems they don't no one likes each other at the bubble was going to be fine for them. It's not just they're a mess right now so I got A. Philly right now. Obviously I I don't think they have a chance to be Boston Without Simmons I. Really I don't I think Boston would sweep them if they don't have 'em bead. That's interesting scale in the Eastern Conference playoffs today, the top three teams as you mentioned in order Milwaukee Toronto and Boston would all be heavy favorites and maybe even favorites to sweeps Gal against Philli Brooklyn in Orlando. So so the compelling match up to me is Miami Indiana and the four five if that is the actual match up which it looks like it very well, maybe in the first round of the Eastern. Conference Playoffs Yeah and you know Orlando's been another disappointing team you know like there there is supposed to win. and become the seven seed because they don't WanNa play Milwaukee and they can play TORONTO. In the first one, Orlando's another one and I get it. They have a bunch of Injuries Jonathan Isaac? Thing is like a punch in the gut no question about it but they've been disappointing as well in the bubble I thought they would I thought they would do better and and even Brooklyn we kind of make fun of all time at least they played up to like some type of standard I don't I don't think Orlando. Category Right now. Brooklyn plan hard cleanse competitive every night they have a winning record up to this point which nobody really would of envisioned. When this thing started, you mentioned the Boston Celtics Gal they beat the Orlando Magic one twenty to one nineteen, and over time you call that game a Gordon Hayward at a big ninety at thirty. One of the Celtics Jason, Tatum with twenty nine in Boston not win or Landau. Disappointing Scout. I won't punish you by asking you about the Oklahoma City Thunder. Twenty. One Zero. Three win over Washington But with S I, think we took a quick run through the League and pretty much covered all the games on Sunday I do you have any final US Seattle on the Games from Sunday or the weekend in the NBA before we take a look ahead at Monday's action? Yeah. I I WANNA. Know what you think about the Los Angeles Lakers right now I want I wanNA know your opinions on them. Are you are you worried about Lebron and the? Lakers It's one of those things where it's like, it'll be fine future. Now I do have concerns. I do have concerns. I have the whole time that that's why prior to the season starting you and I thought the clippers run in the championship and prior to the start starting you and I thought the Clippers going to the championship guy. Thinking today's NBA is just so hard to do it with two guys and those two guys are great and there's nobody better than Lebron James as far as carrying team through playoff series after playoff series now, I will say the scalp as you know doing that in the Eastern conference is. Different. Than doing that in the Western Conference there'll be heavy first on favorite Lakers heavy first round favorite against whoever they play although Portland Maybe not quite as heavy favourite Ombu scale. Lebron's going to have to win at least two maybe three difficult series in the western conference just to get to the finals and play up Milwaukee Toronto or Boston wherever it is. So yeah, I have concerns about the Lakers and in particular the low that Lebron James has to carry just to get them to the conference finals and potentially the NBA Finals as well. Lasting after this weekend, I wanNA know take your temperature on the Denver Nuggets. They had a great win against You got a great win against Utah. We finally got a chance to see joe-marie play. Are you where are you at with Denver which you've you've touted their roster? This whole time, and then now the Jamal Murray is back to do they look like that complete team had the chance to win a first round series. They're not complete yet in the key will be to see this week. Scout. Gary Harris in Will Barton back in the lineup a martyr came back on Saturday a he looked terrific in the overtime win over Utah that you mentioned about those other two guys. Gary. Harrison and we'll Barton probably the second and third best guards they have not played so far in Orlando scale also for the nuggets to be an actual contender team that can go up to the Western Conference finals are potentially even NBA finals they need all those guys. Fully healthy and they need to rely on the talent depth they have up and down that roster country lasting I know I, know that you put together the Phoenix Suns but they have became my team. I saw that they were your of the day to beat. Miami are you drinking kool-aid on the Phoenix? Suns? Are you just picking them because you really there my team you're just jumping on my bandwagon. Yeah. That's it. bryce Calabria Brian scale rainy Noting Phoenix Suns, enthusiasts for the last five minutes I, you know people react to certain way when I say things about the suns positively or negatively I, just go by what I see scale. That's what we do I hopefully that's what makes us the show good that you and I just speak our minds and we're on filter. I. Think they're playing as well maybe better than anybody in the bubble scale and and that's Where I see I, see Devon Booker emerging as the superstar that most people thought he could become a lot of people here in Phoenix but maybe not a lot of people nationally saw and then beyond ratings emergence Gal especially on.

"The West is a murderer's row of teams, but I think that team is grossly underrated. There's two more again early in this bubble with five days in his bubble, whatever whatever it is two or three games per team. That I think don't get the appreciation they deserve. Another one is the Denver Nuggets. And the reason Denver doesn't get the attention it deserves. Baffles me because the N b A. Unless you have LeBron James is a ladder it is you have to learn. To climb rung by rung. It usually takes years to get to an MBA championship. So you know you're bad, and you sort of learn what that's about. Then you're close to a playoff team or a play off team, And that's another wrong and you figure that out a little bit. And then maybe you want a playoff series, and that's an important step and for Denver as they go through this process behind a really, really talented superstar in Nicholas And an interesting young corner. Really there really well coached last year. Don't forget that Nuggets team. Went seven games lost at home in Game seven against the Portland Trail Blazers team that eventually one that serious and made the conference finals. But that was an important step for Denver, and all they've done is add another year of experience. Another year belief and yesterday was a reminder of the way in which Denver Plays the long game to the benefit. Certainly the few years maybe now as well. Michael Porter Jr came out of my home a monitor, the University of Missouri would have been I don't know. Number one, a top three pick in the N B a draft. Had he been healthy? He wasn't He barely played fellow 14 or 15 wherever that Wass 14 for the for the Nuggets. That dude dropped almost 40 points yesterday in a big win. Because he's got that kind of talent. That's a weapon that a team that almost made a conference finals has added. Nobody's talking about. Bull Bull. Another long shot Khun B. An absolute Dimon's maker, do not sleep on the Nuggets and then the the final team I want to hit here. Before we shift here to some NFL talk, And if you want to call, by the way, I'd love to hear from you. Bill Ryder Filming for Jim Here in the gym Room Show 1 806 368686.

"You came from us so are you. Do you feel like Oh. He should just be straight up untouchable. Obviously every team says that about. They're they're good young players. But it is that you're feeling or would you? Would you be willing to move him for? Not necessarily this specific player but a player along the lines of like a true holiday sorta player. I wouldn't for a drew holiday but it's not. It's one of those things where I don't know that that's like bad value. It's just that drew holiday. Make the Denver Nuggets a contender. I mean are the nuggets. Going toe to toe with the Lakers and bucks if they have drew holiday in his place to me I just don't think so so so I would not but it's not to say that he's I don't think. Michael Porter is untouchable because of that. Injury risk That it's just so high that maybe you do take a player that that is less of a risk but But to me there's not probably not going to be a match for what he what. His upside is versus. What his market value is. Yeah Yeah I mean you know the the package that makes a lot of sense for a lot of people is Gary Harris for the salary matching and porter for his some kind of an established star of the kind of seems to be the thought I think take it through a little bit more of my questions here. Biggest things that the Denver Nuggets learned about themselves this year. That we haven't hit on already man this one. This one's really tough. I think again the thing that defines the season was it being so incomplete so I feel like if there was one thing I would say about this this year's that I don't feel like we learned enough about the nuggets. And that's the harsh truth of it for me. I've been lower Andrea Murray than most people especially here locally and the fact that he just sort of flat line the way that he did and the fact that the nuggets were just as good without. They missed him for a whole three weeks or something like that four weeks and didn't skip a beat. In fact they played some of their best basketball to me. That's really concerning. I wouldn't say we know Jamal. Murray is not going to be a star caliber player. Or you know. We don't know he's never going to grow into that Max but for me I mean I would. I would feel pretty comfortable betting against that and I would have bet against it going into the season but I. I feel even more sort of strongly about that. Having seen three quarters of a season now with him yeah and you know I mean I was higher on Murray than anyone who when he was drafted. I mean he's still looks like a great pick at number seven. Yeah but and I think I hired him Than a lot of people a lot of the way I was like. No this guy is going to be really good. Just watch like when he wasn't playing early on in his career and then I was like what they gave him a no brainer. I'm like a July first light. That's the That's it it's funny. How often the cycle will happen where it guys will get drafted. I'm really high on them. And then public opinion will catch up to me and then do this freight train going right. Pass where I am. I like the guy but like a little bit and I thought you know. They're really like to narrative that you could have about Marie right one. Is Hayes only twenty two? Hey got a little bit more efficient. This year is finishing was a lot better even though he's been more efficient even though is three point shooting a as been worse. Yeah this year. And maybe that's an outlier that it's gone down from thirty seven to thirty four percent and also you know this isn't like that wide open of an offense. He's playing with the traditional power forward. Most of the time so as Dr Game isn't that good you know he doesn't get that much of a chance to do pick and roll and you know you could still get a lot better. That's one school of thought. The other one is while he just because he's the only guy in the perimeter who's able to do much a lot of the time with this team he gets all these shots he gets all this exposure. And you just be a guy on some other team if you weren't playing with Yoga. Yeah I'm probably somewhere in between those two because I do think he's a really good player. Just when you can guy in the contract when you hand Guy Amac's and especially when you're in a market like Denver. That's probably not going to get one. Your top two or three players via Free Agency. That means you've got to be certain of the guys that you choose to build around and you kind of lock yourself into Marine Yokich and I just like I said I'm betting against the other thing is three years in a row now where he's taking five and a half three point attempts per game. There's no reason in my opinion. There's no reason for that. Other than he he really struggles to get his shot off. Yes sort of like being that. It should be more. It should be a lot more in my should be at least seven eight nine. Forgive you look at a lot of the elite point guards of his mall. Damian Lillard You know those he they get their shots. They get point shots up. He seems to really struggle with that and he seems really really comfortable coming off of the high pick and roll stepping right into the free throw line or a slightly outside the free throw line and pulling up and to me. It's now that you're in three years of this. It's more of a habit at this point then. Just like oh. He'll grow into it How much of that do you think is coaching philosophy man? That's a great great question. I I really can't I don't know that it's Malone saying oh I don't want three pointers or anything like that but you do wonder if if it should be emphasized within more. It's something you look at him and you say okay. If we're ever going to be great we need you taking seven or eight three pointers a game or more and we need you shooting thirty seven percent on those. You need to be a threat to draw that defense out. Because when Yokich is rolling downhill towards the basket in the pick and roll he receives the pocket. Pass on the pill. I mean that's the best one of the best offenses in all all event the NBA. Yokich going four on threes is just a guaranteed open shot and it just doesn't happen as much teams will sag off of Murray knowing. He's not gonNA take the three. Yes Sir I mean why. I loved him so much. Shot Forty percent on threes at Kentucky. Us coming off of screens. I was like man this guy. You know it beats shoots the ball like this in the pros on this type of item. You know he could be not steph curry but like a steph curry light. And we'd just hasn't gone in as much for him and he hasn't had the volume as you said and you look at him like on his hot streaks of which when I say a hot streak I mean he'll have ten fifteen game runs where he that's what he looks. This the attempts go up to six or seven and he's shooting forty percent on those and you just think like wow okay. There's something there but it's all the word on him. Last year was inconsistency and I think it's the exact same word again this year if you look at his three-point percentage by month we're talking at least seven game samples and most of these are ten nine ten games Over the month. He's all over the board from well above forty two below thirty and it's just it's just so hot and cold with him all right. This is A. It'll be a good one then especially since you said everything so incomplete. What are the biggest questions about this team? That are still unanswered. I mean I guess the both in the short term and perhaps in the lunchroom where we touched on a lot and I don't want to be. Repetitive I touch on these but Murray can he be the second option and Michael Porter? Can you handle regular minutes? Because as much as I'm sold on his talent that the health stuff just he can't. He played thirty minutes per game for. I don't know more than ten games in a row. That's that's a really huge question. I think what Paul Millsap is going forward is a real interesting question. I think we'll talk about him and some of the sections later on but he's been a huge part of Denver success over the last three years and he's really starting to show. I think some some signs of of just his age. And so maybe he's not you know a core piece of this team going forward and then three point shooting. I mean Gary Harris in particular but Do they have enough three point shooters or to your point. Is there something about their style or coaching or something? That is making it so that all of their three point shooters are just shooting worse than what they actually are. Gary Harris. This season was really bad as three point shooter in and again. I don't know if that's because he's just not a good three point shooter if something has happened that that's making them more predictable weather shots come from. Yeah that's a big on. What would your advice to them? Be about how to handle the power forward position the rest of the season and then next year just to recap quickly. Millsaps will be a free agent. Jeremy Grant can opt out of about ten million dollars for next year. And then you've got porter going into his third season and you can throw in Plumlee as well who kinda falls into that. Where if they didn't resign him perhaps they would play grant at center. They did that. Someone When plumlee was injured with that ankle the the Yokich plumlee pairing has been really good even this season. It didn't get a ton of minutes but it was really good again this year. They just destroy teams on the offensive glass probably not a viable playoff thing but But it works but the reason I brought that up when Paul millsap arrived three years ago it took a while for him and Yokich to SORTA JAIL. There was some uncomfortableness there. The even had to have a sit down where MILLSAP said. Hey this is your team is joining it. Whatever but there was. You know you have to kind of learn how to play with you. Because he's different when Paul when Mason plumlee arrived and was playing power forward alongside Yokich. Same thing they were terrible the next year after they'd gotten some reps they were really good and then they've they've only grown from there. I think Jeremy Grant the same thing sort of happened. This year there was a point around December where I thought man. I'm so surprised at how poorly the Jeremy Grant experiment has gone. I thought he was going to be great. And he just hasn't been alongside yoked but over the last three months of the season or so two and a half months he really started to figure it out and him and Yokich started to figure each other out and I think now I'm out of spot where I okay. That's probably the power forward of the future at least for the next season or two and I think it's a really healthy one. He's a great three point shooter. At least he has been for the last couple seasons. He's very willing to stay in his lane and kind of be the role player. That they need is a great on ball defender. I don't think he's a very good help defender. I'd say he's not bad. He's just not like Paul. Millsap is as a backside defender but he solid so I think he's a good fit. The only thing he doesn't do well is he? Doesn't rebound very well but I think the nuggets can make for that other areas. Yeah and yoke is is a great rebounder. They've they've always in there They've always been a good rebounding to you. Not as worried about that so then going into next year I mean the spend thirty seconds on this here what? How many minutes per game would you give to millsap grant and porter as a default going into the playoffs to meet porter to me would play as the starting small forward? So I guess he wouldn't be in the power forward conversations that you're bringing will enough demand you're talking about this season. Okay Yeah Okay Gotcha got then..

"There's there's another couple of characters that That always on my phone probably meant for this podcast but it. What's fascinating is when you think about the commonality. Even those things whether she tiger king or some of the the the not. Pg things that everyone sent along it shows you how much we're all connected which also all corners of the world and the states are sending me the same thing whether it's a joe exotic meam or a doctor fallacy video. We're all as different as we are. We're all without being too corny and say we're all really are in this together in this over facing has no boundaries economically or a your faith or geographically is- GonNa touch at all of us have hasn't already and I think you can find any positive. It's kind of the sense of community did that's already there in much more so than it. Was there a couple weeks ago? You know it's funny I I I was thinking about you and I had. I guess it was a lunch or maybe it was utterly dinner in New Orleans. I don't know maybe a I guess it was a couple months ago. I guess I think I was in New Orleans for Zion's first game and you were coming in with with nuggets. You guys had an off day in New Orleans. You're on the trip and we crossed an we. We had you walk into a place that I hadn't been as Negra yes right like you Mrs Pod. Yeah quarter obviously you know you you you work there several years before he became the GM and now president in Denver. And so you know all these spots but I think about the conversation we had that day about. We were talking about climate change and we were talking about the world. That's going to be there for our kids. Mine are older than yours but the challenges that are going to be there when even wear long gone and we were talking about down the road and it's like well down the road is it's here. It just feels like this is the kind of stuff we were. You know. We're talking about well. Twenty five thirty years in the future based on the models and what the planet's GonNa to look like in what we're not addressing and it felt like the conversation you and I were having not so long ago here. It is for our kids now. Yeah it's scary. I mean that was a pretty deep conversations especially considering that the guy was having a Carrot Margarita. At the time you say when you have as you get older and you have children. It's it's hard not to anybody responsible not to think about those things in putting more front and center in our profession. It's easy to be self absorbed. We think everything is determined by wins and losses or acquisitions and our world is a relatively small one but is big enough that you can pretty quickly the enveloped in it and not realize how little means now doesn't mean that not unbelievably competitive and I. I don't sleep at night after losses or we messed up a draft. Pick in. Don't sleep for years after things like that. But we're in a funky time right now and that conversation certainly kind of foreshadowed where we are currently I don't know An old you can only control so much when you have showed and you want to do anything in your power to ensure that what you can control will make their life better and I don't know if collectively were doing enough of that Nick Whether it's you know it politics or whether it's kind of the the widening gap between the haves and have nots It's kind of a scary time right now and again. If there can be any positive from this we look back on a couple of months when there's a vaccine when his treatment when we were affectively out of it and overcome it I think There's been all do. The social community was so often put their whether it's financial whether it's faith-based whether it's race based I think right now there's a real sense more so than I've ever felt my life maybe after nine eleven yourself this for weilded all the same and the more that we can help each other in the more we can be forward thinking and kind of get each other's back a better life is for everybody. How much tim do you feel the burden? You feel every day when you have a staff. They saw what happened in Philly. And he's okay that was salary reductions and then the team pulled back but it is inevitable. We're going to see yet. Listen I think more people the unemployment numbers this week. That came out on Thursday morning. Were record-setting there's somebody in. America always talk about records while this is record setting unemployment of the biggest ever right. And so what's the pressure you feel about? You know they're looking to you and you'll work with ownership on it but but knowing that like there's going to be some hard things to figure out based on the economic impact of this what this is going to mean for judge Doesn't just oversee the nuggets but he oversees the avalanche. You have two teams there. You have the arena. Would you feel in that way in your position and trying to find ways to avoid having to go down that path with yourself? We are fantastic ownership. That's I stepped up as much as anyone in the world. In terms of some of these hourly employees a lot of different teams had done a fantastic job. Our ownership group owns the building owns countless franchises. The buildings has events on twenty six of thirty days. So what they've done already I think is pretty telling of how much they care about their staff and how aware they are of how how tough decisions in terms of direct staff. Let's be honest. We're all already so unbelievably fortunate. We make good money to watch coach play basketball so one thing that that. I'm not a fan of and I talked about all the time. It's never feel sorry for yourself. I don't think the NBA can ever feel as if they're in a bad place. I think what I'm most concerned about. His buddies who were have bars and restaurants guys was small business. Not a good buddy who has an oil and gas companies worked his tail off less couple years. I can't imagine how hurtful it must be for him economically CB nineteen you have Saudi Russia kind of Johnson about oil prices. And you're just trying to get a company off the ground in Colorado in West Texas and Oklahoma in this happened so I think while we're always going to ensure that all of our colleagues are are taking care of it and they're gonNA ship has done a great job of leading that charge. I think we have to be aware of how you can help. Those who are even tougher spots in the community so I think the NBA's look. It's not reality. The money's not reality the way with travels not reality the job itself not reality and I think a lot of people are facing the really harsh realities right now and help those people. Yeah and I think and I said this the other day I think on one the other pods but I do hope and I think this. Hopefully this is true throughout society. But I do think it needs to be true in the NBA. And I can't speak other professional sports but I think and I'm guilt. We're all guilty of it. The money is so big and it's big for the players. It's big for the coaches and front offices and like I've seen a little arms race in last few years among front offices. Gm's presidents about WHO's getting. What will he got? How much did he get? Want more. And there's this sort of sense of it's this never. It's there's this Pot of goal. That we're just GONNA keep digging out of it. Everyone's always going to have more and more and I I do hope the serves as a reminder that Nolan's entitled to any of this and we're lucky to get to work in this world and the probably never have a real job for day in in our adult lives and I do hope what comes out of this as more of a sense of gratitude and proportion. Maybe proportion is the word because I you know we talking about the salary caps going up. There's more for everybody and then all of a sudden there is no absolutely right. Now who matters first responders? Medical professionals scientist delivers truck. Drivers Grub hub on restaurant workers. The we picked up a peachy yesterday and the guy was great and ten minutes and a chef and he was so thankful we came in there. I think oftentimes society is humming. There's not an appreciation for why at hums in only those on top of the financial hierarchy are probably Giving enough credit for what's going on right now. We all need each other. We're interconnected winner chwine. We've become so global so supply chains are messed up in China which they are. We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA be impacted if if the goods that did you WANNA buy can't be delivered because a truck driver sick we're going to be impacted so I I agree. I hope it's a chance for us to kind of reassess how much we all need each other and how much we should value each other and look right now. I have a brother taught for a long time. Had a couple of sisters the nonprofits. I always say you know what I I would be very happy just leaving this profession in coaching and teaching. And I've I've been a part time teacher for ten days. It's amazing how little little those guys get appreciate his hard. It's difficult in our society is certainly kind of upside down in hell. Hell little these guys are valued both financially and just kind of a greater societal scale. But they're keeping US afloat right now. I mean if you're a nurse right now you're you're a real hero. It's not the athletes is not the performers. If you're just delivery of your bus driver in put yourself in harm's way every single day so I'm with you maybe it's too It's a little too pie in the sky a little too rosy outlook but I have my fingers crossed that they'll be a little friendlier little more connected society. It actually get through this this. This is a difficult transition him. But I'M GONNA explain this the Best I can. So we're recording this podcast with our producer. Dance Danza here. We have to log into a website and then we call into it and we do it through our laptops but you have to type. A name in when you're entering the little podcast room share with me the name you typed in. I'm going to share mine and it is a common. I think a common love. We have. Who what name did you type into today? I was leaping. Lanny postle a great wrestler from the eighties and nineties. They'd played baseball. Macho man savage brother used.

"NBA season has come to a screeching halt all games after Wednesday night have been postponed in light of the fact that Utah jazz big man Rudy go bear has tested positive for the coronavirus there were four games played on Wednesday night one of them involved the Denver Nuggets at Dallas coach Mike Malone's nuggets lost that game but Malone was more concerned about the situation involving the coronavirus one of our players has a corona virus you know who knows what that means for their team and the other teams that we know have been with them so you really get concerned for what's going on not just here in the NBA but in the entire world these are things that you watch movies you know I mean you watch a movie about this stuff and now we're living it and trying to you know take it day by day and figure out how to move forward the Atlanta Hawks play the game earlier in the evening young guard Trae young was asked for his reaction tries to behave like that before the game for us and then on a Miami maybe tonight was just more about think about what's next that's for us we were obviously those those darn day that that route just because we are you just trying to figure out what was the next step well the NBA has put its season on hold the NC two way says for now it will go ahead with March madness although no fans will be allowed to watch the games will be played an empty arenas

Denver Nuggets fight back and steal 114-112 win against the Charlotte Hornets
"And not have scattered dot was all concerned though yeah when you go to play bad team you never know what you're this nuggets team I mean Charles on a terrible team but they're not winning an NBA championship at one pretty but a win's a win Jamal Murray hit a jumper with just over five seconds left in the game it proved to be the difference does not go into Charlotte beat the Hornets one fourteen one twelve head coach Michael Malone on winning a close game but I give our guys credit you know this was not the greatest game that we've ever played but we found a way to win down the stretch up to be a really good execution got Nicole the ball Jamal Gary and then we got enough stops Murray led the team in scoring with eighteen points followed by joker with a near triple double sixteen points eleven boards eight dimes the bolero telling everyone post game that are actually out the radio out to TV post game his team's focus a lot on the ground out the win I think we say locked in I guess the word again kind of broke down a little bit time desperation mode now we just have a run of massive back with Plymouth physical government math game like to play so over right wing hooliganism came to the printer now you think on the second worst in the NBA tomorrow night when they play in
Doncic’s 30-Point Triple-Double, Porzingis Lead Mavericks Past Pelicans In OT
"So now we look forward to the Dallas Mavericks who just had a pretty big game. They're in seventh place right now. Six would ideal like we talked about last podcast there in six place and the rest of the standings ended up as they are as of now they'd be up against the Denver Nuggets. Which in my opinion would be the easiest matchup for any team really in this western conference standings not to give any disrespect Denver Nuggets or what they've done all season their forty one and twenty. They're great team. But when you look at the Los Angeles Lakers the clippers even the rockets. Those teams just seem a little bit more intimidating so the Mavericks WanNa get higher up in the standings so that they can potentially dodge playing the Lakers or the Clippers. And so they're only half game back from doing this the To eclipsing the Oklahoma City thunder in the standings and so just few days after Lucas. Twenty first birthday he would be going up against Zion Williamson for the first time. And the Pelicans the Pelicans at this point are on a two-game Skid and Zion was playing his first ever back to back so this was a big deal because obviously when he first came back they were totally babying him and having him on minutes restriction not making play back to back and now he's filing gotten that level where he feels pretty comfortable. He's been in pretty good shape and so this is the first game back. It's good test for him to see where he's at physically the PELICANS would also be without. Jj riddick he'll probably offer a couple of weeks with an injury which is really unfortunate for them as they're trying to make this push to get into that last playoff spot so unfortunate for them but in this game it was so close and so back and forth there were thirteen lead changes in this one and eighteen times where the game was tied. The Mavericks would be the ones ahead at the end of the first quarter. Twenty four twenty two. They then had their lead extended out to eleven before the Pelicans brought close again and again and the Mavericks would have the halftime lead up by just two points at halftime. The Mavericks had eleven blocks so welcome to the block party. Three of them being against Zion. So crazy stat for the for the Dallas Mavericks but nothing would still separate these two teams in the third each team scoring thirty points each meaning. The Mavericks would still have a two point lead. The fourth quarter was much of the same very competitive very back and forth and for the majority of the fourth. The Mavericks would have the lead and any time that the Pelicans come close or even tie it as they did a few times in this one they would just push back out but with two and a half to go Ingram. Hit a big three to take the lead finally for the. Pelicans one zero seven one zero six he would then extend it out with a tough fadeaway so pelicans would go up by three then with the mavericks down by one with thirty six seconds ago. It was currie not steph curry his brother. Seth Curry who would regain the lead on a huge three in the corner? And so now the Pelicans down one twelve one nine and seven seconds left Nikola Meli who had missed his last six three pointers. Got The inbounds. Pass put it up and knocked it down to tie the game and send it into overtime with porzingas missing a fadeaway game winner. So what kind of confidence do you have to have when you've missed six three pointers in a row? But the US do they draw up. They didn't drop the play for me to take this three. There's no way he was just the open guy. They gave it to him and he shot it with confidence which is something you should give them a pat on the back door because if I've missed six threes in a row I'm not taking another one for the rest of the game. I wouldn't have missed six zero because I wouldn't have taken that many but could also him for you know lock in and putting it down so great clutch bus bucket there for the Pelicans to try and take this one and not with the game tied at one eighteen in overtime with one eleven to go. It's a Luca. Danni H who hits a step back three Super Clutch? Take the lead late. In the game and later he would then split defenders with a pass and find Porzingis who goes and spikes it down extending their lead to one twenty. Three one. Nineteen effectively icing. This game the Mavericks would win this game. One Twenty seven one twenty three and this game could honestly not have been any tighter. It was close the entire game. Both both teams kind of pushing out for some leads but then again at the end of each quarter they would just come back to two point deficits and then tied obviously to go to overtime so and crazy game where stupor back and forth very competitive and it was just a great game to watch the Mavericks into this game. We're just five and fifteen in games decided by five points or less so they're not necessarily clutch when it comes down to the wire they seem to always drop games but for whatever reason in this one they came out on top and we're able to hold on for a big reason. Why are there two budding? Stars and Luca Danni Jake and Kris Porzingis.

"ESPN news. Another thing. I wanted to get into San Antonio and Denver laser gentlemen. If you've heard me speak about the Denver Nuggets. You've heard me question. What kind of a season they would have you've questioned? You've heard me question. How productive they would be in the postseason and it's been primarily due to the youth. Particularly going against veteran squad like the San Antonio Spurs who shouldn't have lost last night have and a half to having a nineteen point lead. But I will tell you this. These gentlemen, did you see Jamal Murray? Did you see Jamal Murray out of Kentucky? Did you see this car? Finished with twenty four points. Twenty two in the second half twenty one points in the fourth quarter. He went and hit eight straight shots at one point. It was a son sation oil performance sensational. Unstoppable. It was unreal. He hit everything and gentleman. This brother could shoot I'm gonna Jamal Murray fan for a long time because he could really really stroke it, and I love the fact that he loves having a ball in the fourth quarter. I love that about him. But I'm here to tell you something right now. Where you see a performance like that in the fourth quarter, particularly when a coach and tribute to coach Mike Bologne who didn't take them out of the game. He played like garbage for the first half. And Mike below said Joe. We got a problem. I know you think we've got a problem because you know, you plan bad just play. I love you. I'm sticking with you not taking you out of the game. And sure enough. Sure enough tomorrow Mary answered the call. I'm telling you right now, I've seen some epic performances. I've seen say at Thomas scored twenty five and a third quarter of an NBA finals against the Lakers. When he would on a messed up ankle, there were great performances ginger mall Murray. Don't get me wrong. But it doesn't take away from the fact that was once since Atieno performance that young brother put on it was something to behold, and if he plays like that. And if he gets confidence to the point where he's hitting shots, not just in the fourth quarter to out they're going to beat San Antonio. And I'm not convinced they're going to beat San Antonio. But I know they'll beat San Antonio if he shoots like that. These playoffs are nice, man. These plants are really really nice, but I will say this. Does that is on the horizon something catastrophic could happen to the loss? Angeles up sorry to the NBA playoffs. Something if this happens something catastrophic. Is going to take place with these MBA playoffs a cannot happen or it will ruin the entire playoffs. I'm gonna tell you what that is in just a minute..

"Sports. We have you only for this hour. Well, we had you for last hour. But this is all we have with you left because the Denver Nuggets take on the Brooklyn nets just after five o'clock. So. Yeah. You know, I was just thinking. Now tell you off air it's not worth bringing up into the microphone come on. You've already brought it out to the listeners. Now, they're like come on. Like is it should we stay past the top of that? Because normally nuggets and start at the top of our game. The pre game starts at the bottom of the hour. Right problem. If we have a two minute. So that's literally two minutes. That we would need to fill. If we stayed past the top of the five o'clock hour. You're saying doing. He's saying like it's weird. We're not usually in this position either were already done and the game starts at six thirty. And we're already aired. The pregame starts at six. Yeah. The game starts at six thirty so pre games. But we're already off the air. This is cutting into our time. Do I take those two minutes back and say, no, we're not gonna go. Stay till six. Oh, five or five zero five, and then we're out of here. I think the answer is. No. But I'm just it's weird. You can't even make a point three minutes. Okay. So that's true. I need I need a bigger runway. Yeah. That's for sure. I two eight six zero zero four six if you'd like to make a point on the text line coming up in the. Next segment, Kurt healing. From NBC's. Pro basketball talk will join me to get you prime for tomorrow's trade deadline at one o'clock mountain. We are scheduled to be joined by C head coach, Mike Haviland after splitting with the defending national champions over the weekend. We got crunch time as well. So yeah, that's what we got going on. I do want to start with. The NBA trade trade deadline in something that's kind of a national thing. But I think it pertains to the nuggets last night. I was binging game of thrones. I'm through season two. So yes, you game of thrones watchers I'm way behind, but I didn't think that I would ever get into the show. And now I'm getting into it is pretty good. Not the best thing I've ever seen. But it's got anyway, binging game of thrones fishing up season two last night. And I look on the Twitter, and I see your mortgage announce key reporting that the clippers have traded Tobias Harris to the Philadelphia seventy Sixers and Nicola Yokich best friend. Bo Bon is going with him to Philadelphia. In exchange. Basically the clippers are getting draft picks. Couple first round picks, including wine that I believe is owned by the Miami, Heat, which will be pretty high. And coveted. Most of the discussion late late last night. Because this news broke at midnight. Maybe a little bit later than that here. Locally. But the few of us who are still active on Twitter last night. And into today. The discussion has been more about Tobias Harris joining the Philadelphia seventy Sixers and whether that makes them. You know, better than everyone else in the east or whatever. And that's a fine thing too. I think the Sixers are going to. I think they're going to be in a really tough spot. I think they think they can retain everybody. And I don't think they'll be able to so. I don't know about. I don't know about the move from the Sixers side, but the seventy Sixers don't really affect the Denver Nuggets the clippers do. And. You look at what this is set the clippers up to do. Now, they have multiple first round picks. They have cap space for days. And all of a sudden, you could see the potential of Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard playing together in LA next year. Which? Should make nuggets fans very worried that the window for the nuggets to take down the Golden State Warriors maybe this year. Because. If that pair. Comes together in LA with the clippers asking me tough for the nuggets to overcome. And then plus whatever the Lakers ended up getting LeBron by the way. Hi, Larry is that LeBron just not sitting with his teammates last night? Like, he is just had it. And it's like, you know, what buddy you could've gone. Josh Kroenke, Satan, you a rainbow skyline jersey and said you look good in this the nuggets begs you to meet with you. You said no because you want to go to LA for all the off the court opportunities and all that kind of stuff and not have to deal with snow. And and now, you're you're reaping. What you sowed LeBron because you chose to go to a team that was garbage bag had some nice young pieces, but was still overall garbage. And you just took for granted that the Lakers would automatically be able to give you another superstar and be able to bring you all these guys you wanna play with if you're if you're frustrated about the direction the Lakers are going in sign with a better team. Like the Denver Nuggets. Like, I said all season that you should have done because you would automatically be the favorite in the Western Conference without having to do anything. Now gets plus LeBron would be. A team that could take down the warriors. Lebron on the Lakers is a team NATs right now, not even in the playoff picture, and now LeBron's all Pissy about it. And it's like, well, you kind of did this to yourself. But I digress. Back to the clippers. It just it just goes to show that the window is not at open as long as you think it is. It never is. You know, another example of this. I did you see that the giants are now talking to Bryce Harper. The window is never open as long as you think. It is teams can make a deal at the drop of a hat like Jerry West did last night. And all of a sudden put them in the catbird seat to potentially pare KO, I Leonard and Anthony Davis up they have more appealing first round picks now aka not there's that they can give the pelicans to get Anthony Davis, then they have the cap space to afford Davis amd bring in somebody like Kawhi Leonard. Doesn't mean it's a foregone conclusion by any stretch. Again, Paul George was supposed to go the Lakers ended up resigning in o'casey. But it just it's just the point that you can never take for granted. And that's part of what the pushback I got back from some pushback I received from some of you on Twitter and elsewhere. In my ardent support of the Denver Nuggets trying to acquire. Anthony davis. You said the nuggets are going to be good for a long time with their current roster. And for the most part, I agree like, they're not going to drop off the face of the earth. But what we have here with the Denver Nuggets is a real window of opportunity to compete for a Western Conference, title, and and automatically an NBA title. Because you could say all you want about the Milwaukee Bucks. I still will take whoever comes out of the west over anyone that comes out of the east. You have a real opportunity here. And you could try to land Anthony Davis and have two top ten NBA players in your front court, plus some collection of young guards. Jamal murray. Hopefully is who you be able to keep. But if not you'd have some combination of Gary, Harris, me Beasley Monty Morris. You can certainly take back court of Gary Harris in Monte Morris. Plus, Anthony Davis, Nicole Yokich, and all of a sudden, you would open up your window potentially longer. Yes. There's the caveat of re-signing Anthony Davis long-term. But you put yourself in a position to compete in. If Anthony Davis is a man of his word, then if you go to two straight NBA finals with him, then he probably will sign long-term. Because he wants to win tired of carrying an entire team on his back. So. I don't think that the nuggets acquired Anthony Davis tomorrow. But it just goes to show you if you're a fan of an up and coming team or a team that's went to the playoffs the year before and you just think the good times are going to continue to roll. It's short-lived especially in the NBA where dumping contracts swapping draft picks. All this kind of stuff. Completely changes the complexion of a franchise in a drop of that. That's what Jerry West did with the clippers last night completely change. What the clippers are with one trade. So. Sometimes you make moves to help yourself out. But also those moves can help keep somebody off of another team. Which would be the case with Anthony Davis. Two eight six zero zero four six. Your thoughts on that big trade that went down last night. And also your expectations for the nuggets. Are you a stand Pat guy or do you see a piece or two that the nuggets can add before one o'clock tomorrow that would make them improve their chances of beating the warriors in a potential Western Conference finals matchup. Coming up next. We'll stick with hoops, Kurt healing NBC's. Pro basketball talk will join me will Anthony Davis be traded will the nuggets do anything tomorrow, and what's going on with LeBron and his teammates will ask irt after we take a look at your Wednesday afternoon.

Snow over under total nothing should surprise you right now from the opening tip. It's earns Adler every night only. It goes more than three rounds. Man. I'll tell you though, hit man he had his chance early in that fight. Dave. I just watch that fight. Again. The problem was you couldn't hurt Hagler. He broke his hand. Just absolutely Malla just destroyed his metacarpals punchy hit him, and he split his head, and then the referee stopped it and went and corner earns his hand was destroyed having they went out, and that was a great fight through lightning hands. "To do it will get a pair of tickets to see alison chains and i will see you there on october eighteenth i'll know many things that i'm doing i know i'll be at allison chains this is everything to me right now and you will you will should follow me on twitter at gingerly tweets because i am putting all my eggs in this basket adrian mortgage announced has just reported that michael porter jr the former missouri tiger could be available in the twelve to fourteen range in which the denver nuggets are located if the nuggets are able to come away from this draft with arguably a top five talent who has some injury concerns and i heard paulk layout last hour and i understand where he's coming from but even paul admitted i like michael porter jr for the nuggets at fourteen i don't like him for the kings at two if michael porter jr drops out of the top ten tim connolly better be picking up the phone and trying to leverage the fourteenth pick along with either me beasley or juancho hernan gomez he needs to get michael porter jr because that's where the nuggets are the nuggets are it was like that with the with the broncos for years right like the broncos would have a hard time getting a real impact player because they were always drafting so well now the nuggets are kind of in that position they're not quite there in that horrible noman'sland that teams don't like to be in there not quite good enough to be in the playoffs or they're barely in the playoffs in the get knocked out you know barely in last ones in first one out type of thing so they're never bad enough to get a top pick but they're never good enough to go deep in their postseason or potentially contemporary championship if michael porter jr falls out of the top ten in the nuggets have a chance to get him that would be an a huge coup for the denver nuggets in this front office and then all of a sudden you be looking at a starting five potentially of jamal murray gary harris michael porter jr lebron james and nicole yokich okay.
