"And trying to forget that the nightmare had ever been dreamed but had it has and it goes on being dragged in the darkness underground of what was once the rocky mountain arsenal. Not many rumors ever escaped the arsenal. The place was designed to prevent such things but one of the few and the most persistent was of a figure who haunted the whole complex. Some said he was the victim of an accident or an experiment that was later covered up. Maybe he was just a manifestation of collective guilty conscience whatever it was or whatever he is the encounter would go like this a soldier on sentry duty or a technician working late at night with glimpse someone in a long tan coat an old fashioned fedora style hat moving in some high security tightly restricted area. They would call out and approach. Stranger would walk or run away. The pursuit would go on and on and if the soldier or the technician was unlucky enough to catch up with a stranger. Well well there's some recent stories from here in the airport that seemed to lead back to that old one. I figured just like that is said to appear here in these terminals from time to time people who know the airport called this man this thing the traveler but i think there's a link between the traveler stories and whatever it was haunted tunnels the old arsenal and you know when they chose this site for the denver international airport back in the mid eighties. There were whispers of some secret connection to the rocky mountain arsenal. Otherwise why bill. The airport so far away from the city when they were better sites available much closer to downtown but all the other proposed locations were rejected in favor of this one thirty miles from downtown denver and right next to the arsenal but just as the airport was being constructed just as the speculation about a connection between.

And now it's creating problems for this remodel and the contractor also said, part of the problem is change orders coming from DIA's. So that's never good. And now we're talking about other stuff, but Gill you're, you're, you're on the show welcomed a free for all go. Go right ahead. I was wondering for still talking about governmental fraud, waste and abuse. If, if we're always talking about governmental fraud, waste and abuse. I mean, that's always an open topic. You're sitting here working, and I reminded me about the heart project in Hawaii, which is also a rail project, and they're behind schedule. I actually I'm proud transplant I moved there, and from there in two thousand fifteen and where, where's this real going to in Hawaii? Wii on its on Awad who. Yeah. About twenty miles long and at the train, right. Not speed. Nothing sauce up way to train. Okay. Put the plans down in two thousand fourteen and said, hey, this is in the cost five billion dollars or. Five point two or whatever. Now, I just looked on hold because I couldn't remember the numbers, and this is like a year old information. It was six so year ago, it was six years behind schedule, and the price was eight point three billion dollars. And you have to remember that this is maybe. Verona's. Yeah. Yeah. Krief but I thought I'd throw that in the air will you actually, I don't know if he meant to. But oddly, that made me feel better, some how about this. It's nice to see. I believe that high speed rail is boondoggle. It's always gonna be a boondoggle, and it's never ever ever going to support itself. Ever. Ever ever find I couldn't find the article, but people, you know, grill amass done, you know how they expect how, how many people are gonna ride on his train and per person. It's like three hundred dollars a person to build it. Never back now. And you never will. And that's the thing. But in this zeal to be like Europe, which was founded on trains, and his very car unfriendly, because all the streets are old you go to Europe and your street. Why doesn't need a rail because it definitely does because that's probably when move reasons why is because one person has an action half the island shuts? Here's the thing this is and this is something that I've talked to Randal O'Toole from the independence institute. I've talked to people from other thinktanks across the country for the same price that you can make skews me way less. Not the same price way, way, less than you can create any kind of real system, you can create dedicated high speed bike, not bike bus lanes so you can put buses that have a dedicated space put buses autumn instead of trains, that shaved million dollars. That was actually one of the arguments for the governor's to create extra bus lanes. And there's actually no room. They're not making any more space noise. So I'm actually in full support of busy. Wait a minute. Here's my question. Where are they building the railway? I'm talking about the space. They would build the railroad on their building. There's space overland, but some of it, it goes over roads like it's, it's a it's a project but it's being missing my point in that dedicated space for the railroad right? There's going to have its own place for tracks instead of putting tracks their build the space but just put buses on it. And it costs a fraction of the money that light speed that real does. But look at this, like this, if we took the trains, that are on the light rail, right now, just pluck them up pulled up all the railroad tracks and paved it and put buses on those lanes. It would be more efficient far more effective and far easier to manage, and yet, well, I'm gonna disagree with you, 'cause I I'm for rail in the white because I think it's necessary infrastructure wise, but it's. You're missing my point. Why is a train necessary? I'm not arguing that you don't. Well, it's because I learned, I think, is necessary for the infrastructure of island. But why don't you understand what that means? Well, if you spent eight hours in a walk who traffic crash, you're not listening to what I'm saying. You can have the same effect, which is creating mass transit on dedicated space, so it's not clogging, the roadways, you're creating dedicated space for the mass transit, but simply replacing train cars and light rail with buses that run on a very regular basis, especially on the island of one, who it's not even never seen. Becker roast. It's not glamorous, you know what I mean. Like rail is cool like subways are lights speed light rail's? It's not cool. But it's it's way more efficient. It's cheaper to maintain. I just never seen it done like double decker roads. I get you. And that's yeah. And it's not being done because it's cool enough. Honestly, that's the only reason so that's it. It's just crazy. But I appreciate phone call. And that's something to watch out to go to white, you next year note to self. Traffic is a bitch Martin. You were on KOA NewsRadio. Hello. I won't do the usual climate thing today. But I have plenty of experience in, in engineering construction whatnot, and I, I had to cut off a little while ago. When one of your project, one of your callers talked about low. Balling contractors? Right. That, that set me off the difference there to kind of major projects or government projects in private projects. And you won't find the same in the process and the practice of scoping, estimating scheduling and costing a project you start with a high degree of uncertainty. And you whittled it down by doing it over and over again till you find out, whether you're going to be able to manage it, and government projects are characteristically, undersco PD, under scheduled underestimated, because either legislators or, or department managers would never get financed if they told the truth. In the they can tell the truth by cutting off their planning process, prematurely. So you're guaranteed in that project run that way, you're guaranteed have change orders. You're guaranteed to have caused over. I don't know if you remember but DIA ultimately cost. Oh, yeah. Three times what they plan for. And that wasn't cease to him hills fall. They were the original. I think that lifetime Pajic manager, the change orders were inevitable. And if in as for low balling, if you're a contractor and you bid, if you look at a scope of an scheduled whatnot new say to the owner, you think to yourself, gee, you don't know what you're doing here. I'm gonna business thing away. It really should be done. You'll never have a project. Now, let me ask you follow up question on that thought because I made the case that the reason this happens is because government will always pay the Bill, because they'll just they'll just take more money from the taxpayers. So is that part of this equation that contractors, they know that, if they cut off their project panning technically prematurely than they can stay poss- schedules? Budgets and whatnot that are treated as far as anybody knows. But they're just. Not correct. And they know that. Once it starts nobody's gonna walk away from it all we can't finish this when going to comply. So, for example, you're, you're, you're bad concrete DIA was quite likely built into the project unavoidably. I wouldn't I wouldn't bet my meant supply post his twenties that we could find a contractor that. Unknowingly much less deliberately skied up the concrete. You know what I don't want to? I'm not gonna say anything else about that. I like I said, I had a long conversation with a guy who was involved in that project. And he made accusations that people did know that it was substandard concrete. So I don't know. I don't know enough about that to hurl accusations at anyone, but he was rather certain that substandard concrete that we all knew that everybody knew that that was happening. Okay. I'm not trying to characterize these things as one hundred percent one way or the right are bad. Contractors? There are competent government project managers etcetera etcetera. But the thing is that if, if you, if you, if you said to somebody ex- on that you wanted to spend a billion dollars if Exxon team to contractor and so they wanted to spend a billion dollars plus a minus ten percent on a project. They would manage that thing to death. Yeah, exactly. Whereas whereas the government's gonna say, here's our school. Or schedule. And here's what specifications we want you to do it. You go ahead and visit project as scope scheduled in specified, otherwise, you don't have a pair of winning the project. Right. So how do you fix it? And there's. And that's the problem right there Martin because, you know what you're talking about, and you have no idea how to I do have to do it. You know, the next time a big government. Well, okay. Taking the money away from California is a big step in the right direction. That's almost unheard of. I can't remember it ever happening this. So either the, the bigger brothers and big brands the real big brothers, in government, or the, the electorate has to hold government responsible for this. And you said something about high speed rail doesn't have a prayer of being whatever ever ever making enough money to support itself. Unless our culture entirely changes immediately. That's not going to happen. There's no mass transit system in the country. That makes enough money to pay for itself. Then I think you owe us to quit your job in radio and go to work in the government, because know what needs to be done, and that is that a competent cost-benefit estimate has to be done where you say, we don't have enough riders on earth to justify this project in California, and on the contrary. The, the whole situation in Europe is they have a population, density new way way different than ours. And they can justify those projects. First of all, never going to work for government. That's not happening. But that's nice that you think that I could pull this whole thing together because you couldn't us. Yeah. No. See, here's the thing. This is the problem and it's one of my problems when I talked to politicians or people running for office, and they tell me they're going to go to Washington DC, and they're going to clean up that town that town, specifically DC capitals of states, around the country. They're so much entrenched kind of corruption, which is what you're talking about. I mean, let's be real. We're talking about corruption here Martin. And, and I wouldn't even know where to begin to root it out, but I don't have a lot of confidence that some other corrupt end entity would come right back in recreate it when we got done confidence is very low in that I have a personal rule against cynicism. So so because cynicism is a disease of choice. But that's another discussion. Yeah. But it it could be fixed. It's just that it's not a top priority. Getting are getting our internet free services higher higher priority. Of course it is Martin. Of course. I appreciate the great information. Thank you very much for the call. You don't have a good one, sir. Yeah. He's right. John, you're on KOA NewsRadio. For those of us who rolled enough to remember when d I was first Bill when we were already old. Yeah. The cost overruns and other things that you just talked about it, very true..

There were more flights that were canceled powers out schools were closed. It's a snow day, even the Colorado governor, of course, this is the lay of Jared police had to declare a state of emergency. It isn't emergency. Because they couldn't even get some of the rescues. They were struggling because of the intensity of the snow and some of these areas that is a cyclone for you, all of a sudden, poof it hits you the weather drops the temperature drops, and you can see high winds or snow or whatever it might be. And a blizzard warning is in effect for Denver all threat Wednesday afternoon, they had eight inches in someplace in those howling winds. I mean, a truly epic snowstorm very very fierce even people with the right? Kind of equipment on their cars. When those tire start to spin. Yeah. You know, you need to stay inside as for where I live in our satellite facility in the TAOs Fort Worth area. I mentioned that there were seventy plus mile an hour winds in my neighborhood. "Bomb cyclone" hits Colorado bringing treacherous conditions

"A major winter storm is hitting the mountain west and moving into the midwest in the Denver metro area alone about two hundred thousand people are without power and a major interstate remains closed Colorado public radio, Dan Boyce reports on the rare blizzard meteorologists are calling a bomb cyclone this name bomb cyclone stems from the. The intensity of this particular storm system where a rapid drop in air pressure leads to very high winds along with heavy precipitation, though, starting out in the morning along Colorado's front range, the weather system seems more like intense spring showers. I'm standing in the rain outside a WalMart in Colorado Springs. I've already seen some people joke on social media this morning about being glad they have out there. Rain shovels yet. Several people are walking out of the store with new snow shovels, including Laney Feick early this morning. She didn't think the storm seemed all that bad until she drove up to her job in the nearby mountains. And it was crazy. Just heavy snow everywhere. And so I looked it down here. So I didn't have to drive through the past when it was horrible. And now, she's heading home. Yep. Gotta toy for the cat. Got some pizzas. I'm going to stay in after this. Of course, what's unsettling about? The rain is as the temperature drops throughout the day. The rain turns to snow and what's already fallen becomes ice which. National weather service meteorologist Carrie says compounds the danger create that level of icy slickness beneath the snow that can create hazardous conditions for people that might walking on the snow or something that they might slide on their vehicles. When you have that snow on top of the wind is also treacherous gusts reaching seventy five miles per hour are being recorded at Denver International airport whereby mid day. All runways had been shut down. The storm is also causing other shutdowns in delays as well. Schools and government offices in Denver and Colorado Springs are closed normally jam packed interstate twenty five between Colorado Springs and Denver is shut down. As are many other roads in the region, Bowen's weather service office in boulder tweeted, the blizzard is the equivalent of a category one hurricane and in all caps. Do not even attempt to drive in the storm. Exclamation point a quick hitting storm. But it's going to be pretty impactful when it is here. Bowen says the snowfall in Colorado will begin to lessen overnight,

"Now all of the news you we miss Davis quick. Anyway. Oh, I cannot wait for next segment because I have the greatest stupidest story ever. I've literally I'm just gonna be real with. I've been waiting an hour for this. Alright. Alright. Alright. Alright. Alright, let's get to the other look getting the meat and potatoes. So, you know, the the big Trevi fountain in Rome, that's the big they have fashion shows there. It's a real pretty one, and they have all the sculptures. And all that stuff. You know, how many how much money is thrown into the thing every year one point seven million dollars not lying to you every year. So now Rome is trying to figure out how in the world there. What are they going to do with the money, and who should get it? They call it. Their treasure the rump city council, they're going to go ahead with plans to keep the money collected from it and other people are like, well, that's you know, apparently, the Rome mayor was talking to. Yeah. So the rum the city in the church were fighting over the money, and they say some of the remainder says some peop- some of the church services will get some of my. Yeah. Because it's kind of their fountain. Right. So how does that? I don't know there. Just seems weird to me that. The they wouldn't get it. I don't understand. Okay. I went on this from headline alone. Thank you came. Man dies after being pulled from Kiama blowhole. What? Yeah. I know it was the same way. So this dude where snorkeling and became separated from his other folks caught on the rocks near the base of this popular tourist attraction, and he apparently had a heart attack had a heart attack. But they couldn't get him out of the water because he was near this blowhole, and they had to bring this they worked. I mean, they were not able to resuscitate him, unfortunately. But they thought he was actually suffering to this blowhole. And I think maybe the pool was making it difficult for them to actually get him and start some lifesaving procedures on him. That's incredibly sad. It's so sad. What it's an actual thing to blow holes in the Cain. Yeah. Okay. It's a real thing. Golly. They to move. Moving on down here, a shutdown could cut flights out of Denver International airport. Say air traffic controllers, they say at this point the government federal governments becoming an unreliable employer over reliable narrator. They Colorado's could be waiting longer lines for fear of flights in and out if the federal shutdown drags on because staff shortages staff shortages could develop as air traffic controllers and TSA screeners who are currently working without pay off to retire. Seek other jobs, and I think those air traffic controllers in those folks that are working God bless them. As all these politicians here and fight. They could so easily in this when they're all still there are out there working and nine now, the public appreciates it, and then another American has been taken by the Iranian regime will run onto the time here. So I'll have to say that for next book by up next. People are mad Cleopatra is white. I always had to the range with preloaded MAGS. But it's amazing. How fast you can go through all those rounds? There's nothing more aggravating than having to stop and reload. Everything when you get into a good rhythm. When you find your focus your concentration, and you're you're just really on top of choir in your target, and you want to get right back into it instead of having to stop and reload MAGS the administrative work is what I call it. Take a look at your old speed letters and be honest about it. They will going compared to the ES loader. This is literally the fastest loader in the world. And.
