"Optimism going into the Coke 600. Now I will say this, this racetracks like no other one and two is like ridiculous. So different than everyone else. So, but the Ford's needed before it's need a boost. We talked about it last week on the show. They don't have the speed. So yes, maybe they do can look back at this and they can say, hey, look, we found something. The Stuart hosk cars didn't find it. No. They were not, they were not even in the ball game. So maybe so that tells me maybe it's not a power thing that the Penske has got. This week, it's probably a handling thing that Penske's were better because they found something at the car drives better with. Well, what we know on a Monday and you can write it down is Ryan Blaney is one of the all star racing. He won over a million bucks for doing it. So we can all have an opinion on whether it should have stood or shouldn't have, but that check is going to cash and it was an impressive run. A $1 million win to that. That's a $1 million thing. And give the young man credit that going through all of that. And he's not even sure I'm sure that he had this up completely, but he was able to get him to get his I was worried about that he wasn't going to get his tires cleaned off. And then he started doing that. But he got himself focused back enough to know what he had to do on that restart. Now you got a nice push that helped him there to get a little bit of clearance on that last lap. But he focused enough to keep one of the best in this game ever, and that's Denny Hamlin winning big races of getting the job done and keeping him behind him. With better.

Blaney wins All-Star race, $1M 2 laps after thinking he won

"With $1 million on the line drivers through caution to the wind and the NASCAR all star race at Texas Motor Speedway and at the end of the night it was Ryan Blaney taking home the big check I don't really spend a lot of money so probably put it in the banker Put it towards the retirement fund I don't know But we'll see I might buy a new set of tires for a new motor for dance spring cartoon That's probably what I'll do Blaine survived four separate stages avoided multiple cautions and as he crossed the finish line the caution came out He thought he had won the race and dropped his window net but the race wasn't over and then he had to re secure the net and hold off Denny Hamlin who was chasing him down from second I think that caught all of us off guard and so it was kind of short lived panic mode in my spot of like how the hell am I going to get this window net back up Austin Cedric finished third Jerry Jordan Fort Worth Texas

"Right? So you're telling me that Daytona 500? Is less important than the all star race that the fan that bought a ticket for the Daytona 500? Yeah, exactly. Like every other race ends that way, right? So while I do think they were clear on the rules, I don't think they were misled. They're just different and drinking out of a fire hose of figuring out how you're going to run this race. I think you get misled. I also want to say this. I don't feel like NASCAR lied. They said that it was too premature. They saw two hands on the wheel. And in their mind, that was good enough to restart this race. Yeah. I just believe that if that was the Coke 600, I think there would have been more effort put in to make sure that or how about this. Let's look at a different way. If there is 50 laps to go on the race, I believe there would have been something else done to make sure the winner net is secure. That's my opinion. I have no proof to it other than what I've seen in the past. So there's a lot of things that you can say, they're in a no win situation, the majority of the time because there's always going to be something. The untimely hitting of that button and putting out a call should obviously created a lot of stuff here to happen. I couldn't tell. Once I saw him going down the back straightaway, it looked to me like, as you were pointing out, he got it done. I'm not smart enough to go watch it slo-mo and see that the back's not in there. So you said that. I didn't know anything different there. I think what there's two things that could have been done here in my opinion. I think before the second thing that I'm going to say, I think the first thing it could have been done was NASCAR, we have all of these rule changes and everything. And I think that could have easily said that button was hit prematurely by mistake. There should have been no caution. This race is over. I don't care what that rule says about you're going to run to that. We only needed a hundred feet or so for that to happen. I think that NASCAR could have quickly got together and said, that was done. By mistake, his hand is there ready if that's done, hit the button too soon. And that that could have eliminated. Once they got didn't do that, then the simple fact, I don't think you can change as Danny, I can't argue with anything that Denny Hamlin said because it is a rule. That wind and that has to be up. I would have brought him down pit road and see if that if it was latched. If it was latched into their satisfaction, putting back Corey belongs at the front. If it's not, you got to fix it and you go to the boy. That's the best I think I've heard yet, because I've heard some people say, hey, come down and let them fix it. And I'm like, no, that's not fair. But I never thought of that. Come on down. And if you have fixed it, good for you. We didn't think we could do it, but you pulled it off, you proved us wrong. I hadn't heard that one yet. DJ, I think that's interesting. I think unfortunately in all of this, Team Penske showed up and it kind of got lost, right? Like the interview with Blaney after all this controversy was we came here a little bit differently. We approached it..

"We say, hey, we're going to wave off a restart to make sure that when I don't like the answer, so it is. It's three separate things. I'm thankful that Blaney won because I would have felt bad if he had lost it under these circumstances, but unfortunately I feel like Denny Hamlin has every right to be as upset as he is. I will say this, you know, when I look at when I look at Blaney's car and you look at the beat post, right? Which is the area behind the window net. It's a good thing that's black. It's a good thing to win the next black. And it's a good thing it's a night race. Because there was enough camouflage to not make it clear that the back of that window net wasn't up. If you go back and watch it and slow mode, you can see the back's not up. But you're watching it live, it's very difficult to tell the back's not up. And I was watching it. I went to the race, but then watched the second half from in full disclosure from the hotel bar. And on the screen, I couldn't tell it was up. There were three gentlemen at the bar, I was talking to, I'm like, he's not getting it up. It's not going to happen. And then the next thing I see is him going down the back straight. Anyway, warming it up, and I'm like, he got it up. Oh my gosh, I can not believe that the winter that's fast and how did he do that? And it's a good thing as a night race. It was a good all that helped because that wouldn't not be not being attached at the back. Got camouflaged a little bit. Listen, I have a hard time arguing with Denny Hamlin about this. Yeah, right? Like the window net, from his view, it wasn't up. And he's like, that's the rule. It should have been a penalty. So I don't disagree with Denny Hamlin. Scott Miller, Elton Sawyer, all those guys and they worked really hard, and they work every week. And I spoke to Scott Miller, a week ago, two weeks ago, three weeks ago when he was really nervous about all these rules. Because when you have all these different rules, it sets up an opportunity for things to get challenging. We need to make it simple. We need to have less rules. And we need to make it easy to understand and it needs to be consistent. I hate it if the college should comes out to our star race and you don't finish on the green. We do it every other week. It's okay. Take the white flag to caution comes out. That's done. We need to simplify the rules for this all star event. That's my frustration,.

"It, you miss it big. So it never really worried me about the young guys old guys and stuff. You know, I raised enough with Kevin Harvick and I know my potential, obviously. That it was a matter of time. And it also, it's a matter of time for these organizations. It's very things not just going to run 15th every week and be okay with it. They're going to work really, really hard to get past that in hopefully we turn the corner this weekend on that. But yeah, there's a lot of good years and a lot of race wins left between me and when I finally hang it up. Hey dude, I got one last thing. We're going to let you go, but I know this was an era and a time when everybody wants to make a new T-shirt showing or about something. But I know that you've looked at this, but when you were passing William Byron there going down the back straightaway, they showed a camera shot and the anticipated that I saw in your eyes was unbelievable. I think that would be a great shot for a T-shirt. Yeah, just my bottom one. All right, I'll get with Bowman, see how I get that done. What about hack? Good job. Man. Denny yeah, congratulations. Congratulations. Thank you. Thanks, guys. See ya. All right, Denny Hamlin, joining us here on NASCAR America motormouth. It seems like a different guy after all when we win. Oh yeah, but you know, I mean, especially because as you pointed out, everything that was being said, and the whole Toyota camp was kind of taking a beating, not just Jill Gibbs Racing, but everybody involved. And the things. And you know these guys, they're talented enough, obviously, to continue to win, but when you bring something totally new and trying to figure all of that out, can be difficult at times. I don't care how long you've been doing. And listen, and I like that, like you said, I think he's in a different place. He's realistic. Yeah, it didn't turn him around. One race didn't turn around. What one race did, though, is whether he admits it or we admit it or anybody else's. There was a lot of background noise. And shut down a lot of that background noise. That shut down the over 40. That shutdown will deny win. That shut down, what's wrong with Toyota? At least it shuts it down for a little while, which allows them to focus and move forward. Yeah, when you drive for a team, you own your own team, that's a lot of background. That's a lot about it. And he put a lot of that to bed. So we've heard of thought of Denny Hamlin. Well, here are your thoughts, other side of the break when we.

"Right, so you heard Scott Miller, premature, he thought on the yellow of her Denny Hamlin's frustration. I'm gonna start with the yellow, 'cause I actually believe these two issues are mutually exclusive. I think everybody wants to put them together there in the same race, but I think they need to be officiated very separately. I believe that the caution was too early, much like everyone else. I think that's no different than a bad call on any other sporting event we've ever seen it continues to happen. As other leagues have tried to clean this up, I think they get more calls right, but at the expense of the show. Right now we sit and we wait for replays and all these things. I would challenge NASCAR and I have to just wonder if there's not a better way to figure out when the yellow needs to be thrown or not. Dale, when.

"Welcome to the NASCAR NBC podcast. I'm your host Nate Ryan and so glad to be joined for the first time this season by our resident Hall of Famer on NASCAR NBC Dale Jarrett, DJ. Welcome back to the show. Welcome back to Charlotte. Live in Phoenix full time. So good to see you here. Yeah, thank you. Glad to be back and always interesting to come back and catch up on things. I look at things from a different perspective sometimes whenever I'm away from everybody and kind of away from the scene a little bit and so I'm interested to see and hear about comments that people have to say in this part of the country because believe it or not, even when the race isn't in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area, there's a lot of fans out there that come up to me and talk about that. So what led to be back. So before we delve into the scene here, what's the scene been like in the Phoenix area where I presume you're playing a lot of golf these days, enjoying the weather. Yeah, yeah. I wish I were playing better, but the golf game is not very good, but I do play the weather is fantastic. Just really enjoying the time there. But fans are excited out there. As I think they are and showing us all over the country with what is happening. I will say that before the season started as people ask me my opinion of the new car. I was very hesitant because I really wasn't sure what may come of this and how it may perform. But I've been more than pleasantly surprised with how the competition has been. So people are recognizing that even fans that I'll call more casual fans that they're excited about what they've seen to this point and what may come as the drivers and teams get more custom with these cars. Definitely want to get into the new car in the next gen discussion with you DJ and we were just talking about before we got started here. That enthusiasm and the good racing that they've had this year and certainly that was evident on Sunday at Richmond Raceway and definitely want to talk about that on the NASCAR NBC podcast with you here today and I want to start DJ with the way the race unfolded was interesting and that you had these long green flag runs. You had the caution breaks, but it came down to essentially divergent strategies where Denny Hamlin makes an extra pit stop in the final hundred laps William Byron tries to stretch it. And it works out that Hamlin's strategy is better. What did you make about just how the whole 100 final laps unfolded and how you think the drivers handled it. Because if you're in the position of William Byron or Mark trex junior and you're being asked to stretch, I'm sure it's much different than Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick, where you've got tires that were almost 50 laps fresher. Yeah. And so let's start there in the fact that as a driver with fresher tires, very seldom are where they put in a position where there were cars that were faster than them that was costing them time, whereas if you were William Byron and many others Martin Truex Junior who were the first two there, they were having to not only worry about racing each other, but pay attention to faster cars coming at them and a lot of times cars that hadn't been faster than at any point in time during the race, but because they had these new tires. And so that's costing you time on the racetrack. And so trying to figure what you're doing at that particular time and what you need to be doing is way more difficult than what Danny and Kevin Harvick were going through and the way the situation they were put in by their teams with this strategy because they're always moving forward. They're being the aggressors and making passes where the other drives are just kind of hanging on and trying to get the most out of it and trying to win the race at the same time. So fascinating to watch. Interesting that a couple of teams changed their strategy kind of midstream in the race. And I don't even know if it was midstream. It might have been three quarter stream into this race that they opted out of a similar strategy that Denny and Kevin employed later in the race that put them first and second. So I would have to think that some of them might look back and as we go to other races that may be similar and certainly as we go back to Richmond the next time that they'll be looking at things a lot differently. William Byron made his last pit stop with 89 laps to go and again, he had enough fuel. He had enough tire to a degree to get to the end, it was just going to be a matter, could he maintain the pace and ultimately he couldn't. So you've been in that situation DJ in terms of you've started hundreds of cup races. I'm sure you've been in this situation before that he's in. Did you know watching that at some point, okay, sorry about the 24 is dead in the water here. Strategy is not going to work. Yeah. I mean, you have that idea, but I'll have to say that there was a lot going on. And so I'm not just going to fault Fox in the commentators there for not picking up on Danny and Kevin a little bit sooner to get their progression through the field because I felt like that we were kind of led to believe in what we could see on TV that this was going to be a battle between could William Byron hold off Martin Truex Junior for the biggest part of that last run. And let's say the last 25 or 30 laps that we could see that Truex was gaining and they were mentioning that. But we weren't talking about and weren't being told about Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick slicing through the field at that point in time. Yeah, but there was so much other stuff going on. You had Larsen who was making an appearance up into the top 5 for Canada the first time yesterday and so you had to pay attention was he's going to be able to pull this off among others. So it's so hard when you're there own tires that are much older than many of the cars. And again, sometimes you're letting cars go or having to race around others that you aren't necessarily haven't been accustomed to during that particular race or even many other times during other races. And so you're not exactly sure what to expect from them because they're so much faster and how are they going to handle this situation? Where are they going to go and how much room do you need to give them? So your focus is lost on trying to make your best lap time sometime and exactly where you need to be. And that's the difficult part of employing that strategy. You just hope that you've built up enough to give yourself the opportunity at the end. And certainly sounds like all the things you got going on there, it would favor somebody with experience of veteran and we see the top two finishers are two guys. Over 40, Denny Hamlin, and Kevin Harvick, 47th victory, and his career for Denny Hamlin first and 12 races. It ends a streak of 12 consecutive winners under the age of 30. And it also was Denny Hamlin's first top ten of 2022. And I believe Kevin Harvick's first top 5. What do you make of all that? I mean, 6 races into the cup season. Did you think that Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick would be without a top 5 and then to see them finish one two at Richmond? Yeah, you wouldn't think that even with the new car and the adjustments as a driver. And even as veteran drivers because these guys are so talented, you just have to imagine that they're going to adapt pretty quickly to any changes, but we can see it has been a struggle. And I won't say that even though they finished first and second, that were they necessarily a top 5 car all day long.

"Jarrett, not much to talk about pretty quiet weekend qualifying for an Indianapolis and a quiet all star race in Texas. Now, listen, there's so much to unfold, that was most of the finish of the all star race, good run for Ryan Blaney, good speed, but a little bit of controversy. But this show is about you, the fans call in. We'd love to hear your opinion. I'm sure there's a lot about there. One 8 four four NASCAR NBC and we're also lucky to have a few guests today. Straight off a good top 5 qualifying run for the Indianapolis 500 Chip Ganassi driver Marcus Eriksen, will join us, as well as the driver of max D and monster jam, Tom Metz. Let's jump right into the all star race at Texas. We have a lot to hear, Scott Miller, vice president of competition from NASCAR, gave us their opinion, Denny Hamlin gave us some sound. But before we dig into all that, 10,000 foot view, Ryan Blaney fast car, controversy with the yellow, window net up, what's your overall takeaway from it? I'll skip all of that and go back to where we crashed out, quite a few of them really fast ones and more of the favorites of the race. I mean, if you look at, especially the betting side of it, you know, those guys were you talk about Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson, Ross Chastain, chase Elliott. Those were some of four of the top 6, I believe, a favorites for the race to win the race. So they were all running up front, but had issues and it wiped out of that out. So you had to sit and wonder what was the rest of the race going to look like. And so we saw an entertaining race, you can say what you want about all of the rules and regulations that they had put in place, trying to make it entertaining, but the controversy part of it. Yeah, there's a lot to say there. But any time you have an event, this can go back well before any of us were born, that there was going to be there's always going to be a controversial call. In most events, that you'll see. There's some time that I call it. It might not always decide the winner and loser, but at some point in time, it changes what happens. And in my opinion, the call to put the caution out there at the end of the race, but right before I'm lanny took the life in, that that was, that was done too soon. A too quickly. There's no way that you can tell me that you know that. That for no more than what happened there. And I think that was just the wrong thing to do at that point in time. So, Jeff real quick, let's focus on that part. Let's talk about just the yellow. What's your thought of the yellow, the timing of the other, the necessity of the yellow? Well, the yellow in my opinion was a mistake. It was no need for an hour they were coming to get the checkered, got up the racetrack. Sort of got in the wall and kept going. I don't know if Scott Miller with NASCAR. He said that they were talking.

"Going to have you give me an early prediction. Who do you think the champion is this year? I think Denny Hamlin, he breaks the streak. He becomes a champion, 46 wins as too many in the career without the big trophy. Chase Elliott's gonna repeat. I really do. I go to Denny Hamlin, I agree with Steve's top Denny Hamlin winner championship. We didn't get a chance here from DJ and KP. So who knows? Maybe one of them would depict cow Larsen. But is the guy with 9 wins? Maybe not top of mind for you and others because this is his first appearance versus the other three guys being returned championship four drivers. So I think as an analyst, my job is to look a little bit past the easiest pick, which is larger because he's one 9 races. But when saying that, it's because he himself has had set on occasions about how the chili bowl kind of got in his head a little bit. And his early cup years kind of got in his head. So he's done nothing this year to prove to me that that's an issue at all. But this is nothing like he's ever done. I'm sorry. It's just not. Now he could go there and lead every single lap. And I'd be like, yeah, not a shock. He's been that good all year long. I would have the same lack of surprise if he went there and was surprisingly mediocre. The third best of the four all day long. I know he's not gonna run tenth, right? But if he goes and runs third, and just say that he's learning so much, absorbing so much so quick. I mean, I'm willing to say Kyle arsen, oh, he's going to be a champion. There's no doubt. I just don't know if it's going to be 2021 or not. And I only go off his comma. You've heard him like he's like, yeah, the chili bowl kind of this, and I had to learn how to manage some of those final restarts and I equate that to what chase said. He's willing to say, I'm wiser. I've been there. Look forward to these opportunities. Like, you know, he's embracing the moment. Maybe a little bit more than I think Larson. I don't know. He's probably have a Kyle is that he reminds me a little of Jimmy, which is, I'm fortunate enough to know Kyle on and off the racetrack. And whether he's lining up for speed 51 at millbridge or on the grid for Martinsville, anything in between is literally the same guy. So that's where I'm like, okay, well then I didn't see what he was referencing. That some of these races kind of got into his head. So the fact that I couldn't read his cards, he's a great poker player, so I don't know. I don't know if the spot's going to be. I don't want to say it's too big. That's not the point. But will it feel different? Will there be small things he does differently or will he literally just strap the helmet on like he always does and goes and wins? Well, I think I'm gonna look it up right now. I believe he was the worst of the championship drivers in terms of finish. I think he was like 7th. The first time to Phoenix this year, all four of these guys, I believe we're in the top ten. Yes, Martin Turks junior one, ham one third, chase Elliot 5th, Kyle Larson 7th. And Keselowski was saying this week that because of the parts freeze because of the last year, the gen 6, he thinks that this Phoenix race could be a lot like the first Phoenix race. And is that a negative do you think for Cal Larsen that he wasn't as good as the other three guys the first time? Martinsville didn't look the same. Same parts freeze. I don't buy the whole parts for each thing. Yeah, you think. Everybody tells me it's frozen, but the key building brand new cars. Some don't add up. Like, yes, there are parts you can't improve on. Yeah. There's a lot of parts you can. Like, I think people don't understand how crew chiefs work. If you say, you can't touch your phone. Okay. What could I Bluetooth into it? When you say touch, like not allowed to touch the screen, could I tell Nate to touch? Could they read the rules like a lawyer? What if I touch the notebook underneath my phone on my phone moved? Yeah. Now did I cause my phone to move? So this part's free. Look, I don't think anyone's cheating. But if they think they all just went up, parts of frozen. Let's just go to the racetrack. No. That hasn't been 600 employees over here. Go back. Parts of frozen. Yeah. No. No way. Don't buy it. Just because Martin Truex Junior won the first race of Phoenix, does that mean he is necessarily overwhelming favor? Unless you're the Martin trex junior fan, that's what I hang my head on. Yeah. I mean, I say that jokingly, but it's true. You tell me who you want to support, and I can tell you why they should win and how they could lose. Isn't that what we should all hope? Nobody wants a 40 point favorite in the Super Bowl. Like, man, let's line them up. We start with Denny Hamlin, let's end with Denny Hamlin. Speaking of mindset, we're a driver is right now. Hamlin had some tweets last night that indicated, it sounds like he's already passed Martinsville he doesn't care to build things. He's more ready to win this thing than ever. His team's been ready to win this thing than ever..

"That spot. Now we see non playoff drivers there. Dale junior and I won, there's a non playoff driver. But we were never in a position to never race anybody where we had to contend the spot. We had a little new tires by Tony Stewart. Matter of fact, Dylan, I had this conversation on the ride home. Jeff Gordon was closing. And Dale said, one reason why I went by Tony with such force. By flaming by the way, is because I knew my teammate. Needed to win this race to advance. And if he got to my bumper and moved me, I had no recourse. I knew he didn't say if he passed me. He said, if he got to my left rear and sent me up the racetrack with two to go with the playoffs on the line, he was like, yeah, what's Rick gonna say? He's like, that man, he's in the playoffs. He's trying to move forward, like, you were the guy he had to get around? Like that would have been, quote, acceptable. So we raced knowing he can not get to our left rear. Flip that, right? Now, a non playoff guy drove with such tenacity to win a race, not his first career win, not as first of the year. His fourth win of the year, I don't want to discount the specialness of a win because it's huge. And I want them to race for wins. But that's the question in my mind. He drove so far into the corner that he lost control of his vehicle and wrecked a playoff guy. I'm confident Alex Bowman didn't know if he was good on points or not good on points, like he didn't know any of that. Now fortunately for Denny Hamlin, he was, but what happens if he wasn't? One happened if that would have been the move that limited for playoffs, would people have a different view? Same action different result when people have a different opinion. Those are all the things I question, right? There's a lot that goes into these decisions. Well, Alex Bowman felt as if he was justified because ham wanted taken him out at Texas the previous year and apologized for it. So he's like, hey, the shoe's already been on the other foot. And he also felt because the lab four 78 restart, Bowman took the lead after getting into him a little bit. And then just you guys said on the broadcast, I think, Burton was like, oh my God, he's getting over. He was Dale junior said it just he'd pulled out of the way and let Denny.

"And he still can't drive. We got him. We do what we had to do, but like I just wanted to race there at the end and just, you know, he's just terrible. You know, we talk about all the time. We want drivers to show their emotion. Obviously, Denny Hamlin was very displeased, showed his emotion after that race by preventing Alex Bowman from doing his victory burnout. Were you okay with what you saw from Denny Hamlin? I didn't love the altercation on the front stretch for more than the reasons I think everybody assumes. It's not so a little bit is, I believe, hey, the winner is the winner, and you have to kind of respect whether you completely disagree with how he got there. It's kind of this moment that the person has earned per the NASCAR rule book. They claim human as a winner. The second part of perhaps more importantly for me is I think his actions in the race car diminished his actions in front of the microphone. And I believe that Denny, when he got out and said what he said about Alex, I actually don't feel that was a motion fueled. I think that was a calculated Denny Hamlin, giving your opinion about another race car driver he drives with that in Denny's opinion. He isn't as talented as his teammates, which is amazing, thinking he has four wins this year, but I'm just going off what Denny said. Me reading Denny's comments. He doesn't feel he's as good that he felt like he got wrapped not on purpose, but it felt like he got wrecked because the guy didn't have enough talent to not reckon. I mean, that's kind of how I read his comments, right? It's a hack job. That isn't, you know, that jerk wrecked me. That's not what he said. He said it's a hack job, which basically, you know, if me and you or golfers and I say you're a hack, that means you're not any good. Man, don't play with Nate. He's a hack. He can't hit the golf ball. It's not fun. When you call someone a hack, that tells me that you say you don't have the talent to try to do or to justify what you're trying to do. Those are the words that I expect Danny. That's how I take what he was trying to tell me. The problem is, after the shenanigans on the front stretch, I'm kind of like, does people rather even listening to what he has to say? Right. That's why I wish that wouldn't go on. I wish it was done because I love sports. I love rivalries and I love disagreement and we don't have to agree on which side we're on, and I think he has every right to say whatever he wanted to do and you can liken boo cheer. That's not the point. He has every right to say it and I think that was diminished because of what happened on the front. So you love the emotion, just save the emotion for just the interview. Don't necessarily do it in the front stretch and unconventional. I'm going to stop your burnout stop your celebrations. Yeah, I mean, there's a lot that goes into it, right? And there's a burnout interview. There's people in the front stretch. I'm not gonna defend any of it. I've never been a race car driver, so I don't know what it's like to sit in there and how they see this car as an extension of themselves and they feel it's fine to put this whatever. That's their business. I Denny Hamlin in his race car on the front stretch is Denny Hamlin, the race car driver. Danny Hamlin out with his helmet off camera in front of him, face on screen is a NASCAR superstar. The fan can relate to the driver they can see. The fan can't relate to the guy behind the wheel. So I think for the good of the sport and for the good of the fans, get out and say it. It's kind of like sometimes I feel like drivers behind the wheel are kind of like people behind a keyboard. It's a lot easier because you've got a helmet on in your hidden. When you're willing to take all that comfort away and double down on your comments, those resonate more with me. So let's talk about what Hamlin said and ask, I want to frame this in the most respectful way possible to Alex Bowman, but ask if Denny Hamlin has a point. And what I mean by that is I'm not saying Alex Bowman didn't deserve to win this race. He had a very fast car. He put himself in position to win it. But a lot of people I saw on social media were asking, you know, why didn't Denny Hamlin just allow him more room? And I think Jenny Hamlin's answer is I did allow him more room. Like I was watching the replays this morning, it looked like he gave him a lane, maybe lane and a half for a few laps there, and then when Alex Bowman made the move, he couldn't hold the bottom, he slid up and he took out the 11. Does Denny Hamlin have a point to some degree that Alex Bowman didn't make the past the way a driver should make that pass? So he didn't. And I don't think he made the past the way he intended to make the pass. So yeah, he did say that it wasn't until my analysis of what I saw on the racetrack as a guy who's never driven Martinsville, but watched, we'll call it tens of thousands of laps there. Denny Hamlin races Martinsville with the scalpel. Pre calculated what he does and where he puts his car. Reminds me a lot of Jeff Gordon, who I was fortunate enough to win there. I've seen him do it. I believe that Danny gave Alex Bowman an ample amount of room to race with reasonable contact for a race win. I think Alex Bowman lap after lap after lab was unable to make the pass and eventually purely a mistake that over the limit of his car under braking, car gets loose. You have to turn right and that carries them up into Denny. He spends Dany out. So it's really, I don't think there's a debate on what happened. The debate is, is it okay for a non playoff driver? To take his car to such a limit that he can cross over and rec a playoff guy or any driver for that matter. Where is good hard racing? Is it, you know, like he didn't hit him in the rear bumper. He didn't reckon. On purpose, but he recked him. So it wasn't malicious, but does it make a difference? If the result's the same, I mean, that's really the question. Everybody has come up with their own answer. I don't have an opinion on it. I mean, it's fascinating to me. I believe in my heart 5 years ago, a non playoff driver does not contend that spot. By flaming.

Bowman wins as tension builds ahead of NASCAR title race

"Alex Bowman celebrated in Martinsville's victory lane while three others advance to the championship for having a shot at the title in Phoenix Denny Hamlin Martin Truex junior and chase Elliott joined Kyle Larson who locked himself in two weeks ago Bowman's win with his fourth of the season and his first at Martinsville in twelve tries which we're going to Phoenix obviously with a chance to win a championship and has been painful to kind of go through the playoffs where they've banned but it's awesome at least you know start to end the year on a on a strong note the final four features two drivers each from Hendrick motor sports and Joe Gibbs racing Stever **** Martinsville Virginia

NASCAR Playoff Pulse: Analyzing the Field After Richmond

"Opening up the nascar cup series season with three wins in the opening. Twelve races martin. True ex junior went through a long dry spell when the weather warmed up. Well he's got his mojo back again. Winning the playoff race at richmond ending his summer slump a lot of tough lock and auto crashes and got caught in the rain a few times and some crazy things happen too so i felt like we brought goodspeed all summer. We had good cars for the most part other concrete tracks. Really kinda whipped us. But you never know how things are gonna go to x. Now joins teammate denny. Hamlin is around one winner. Who's locked up a spot in round two. Also clinching on points. Kyle larson trying to be one of the other nine drivers who are going to move on chase. Elliott is currently ranked seventh and fortunate to finish fourth at richmond following a problem pitstop when the reigning champ thought he had slid through his pit box so i just kind of took it upon myself to back up. Tj already hit the right side. Jack and at that point. I should know not to but obviously i wouldn't have broke the jack if i knew it was going to break the jack so i just didn't want to stop over the line. I thought that was just gonna make problems even worse so try to be cautious. Ended up hurting us. Worse after problems. At both darlington and richmond. "I had no reason to reckon. So he was continuing to raise hamlin for the lead after he cut turned to nascar has said that they're going to review the radio communications to see how the information was relayed from spotter to driver because dell junior said it on our broadcast before they reach. Turn seven that chase briscoe is gonna stop and go here so curcio perspective did. Did someone air here in terms of the team relaying. The information you buy the chase briscoe didn't know what's going on here. I put this one on chase so if he would have gone down in their cooked it a little hot and miss track limits by two feet had the wrong tyres on the wrong side of curb. I don't want to get into the details of it. Mr by two feet and didn't know. Then how would he have known. It was really close. Maybe you should've known the mainland. Mario kart through the grass. So i i think while we get to the curbing and all the track limits indianapolis motor speedway could needs to look at that. There shouldn't be a physical opportunity for a driver to shortcut. The course my point being. I'm okay that there's runoff. And i'm okay. The he had grass. But i would like to see some offset tire packs. Not that he's going to run into some nice branding on there that he has to slow down and s around therefore he can't pop out on the other side next to denny hamlin. He's gonna pop out on the other side and like fifteen hundred twentieth then. We don't have to have stop and go right so if you say you missed turn one and you go straight. There is an access road that allows you to come back to turn to with no stop-and-go you don't have to stop because for u. s. around that road nascar because we know you're gonna lose ten or twenty spots. We're not worried about same thing for turn twelve. So he was a no-man's-land right. He didn't just miss the curb and and he didn't do the access road. He went straight through the grass. Yeah i mean you can't shortcut it that much. In my opinion i would love to hear the radios. Well i've yet to hear it. I don't know who spots for briscoe at that end of the race track because it can be complicated multiple spotters. But i think chase briscoe. I think it's a little naive to think that he had to wait for someone to tell him that he pushed it too far. I do believe as we continue. I don't blame me. I would have never said it before but now that we've seen this. I think we should react to it. I'd like to see a couple of offsetting tire barriers. Or i don't even care if it's promotional sign something that forces the guy. When he gets down in the grass he had to like slowdown. Turn left turn right. Rejoined the field. Then way we don't have to worry about stopping goes like every comes back on the track hammer down good to go because he was able to just slide pretty much right through the grass. I mean obviously lifted off a little bit but you right. i am. One shouldn't be out somewhere tenth fifteenth. We don't have to worry about stop and goes let's let's make track limits only when you barely miss it. There shouldn't be an opportunity for literally to go straight to the team. Bear any responsibility and making sure the driver knows the penalty and that sort of i mean they're very chief that spot or all of those do crew. Chief is going to be watching on tv because he can't see it down there but you know it's chaotic on the radio. I mean someone should have informed him on the long back. Stretch is six eight seconds of wide open throttle that you're going to have the penalty. We're going to serve panel. We're going to have server penalty in the end. I mean the race car driver needs to know where the track limits are like. I think it should have been clear that he had i mean even danny was kind of like come on man. You didn't think that was a penalty. Seems a little bit impossible. And then then then so say i'll go on further. I'm kind of at odds with him. Wrecking hitting denny hamlin square in the bumper. Even if he was going for the win his words after the race for something about turn ten guys leaving the door open that's denny block left right. That was that was chasing explanation. Was well guys. We're kind of getting lazy off that corner. And i thought i could slide in or them just break out brigham. But yeah you watch congratulations. You didn't get lazy. So i ran you over watched the video and it's like well didn't he didn't leave you an opening so you hit the brakes chase and i know how much it means to them or whatever but you know i was the guy that was on the tv call. When tigers gibbs one watkins glen. And i was so happy the way he did it. I'm sorry like chased. Didn't drive in there and run over his fender him in the door. He hit him in the bumper cover. He powder he just spent him out. He just clearly spun him out whether it was militias on purpose doesn't matter he's still spun out. I was shocked at how danny handled it. It's funny though. Because as he was talking all i saw was him dumping chase elliott at martinsville in my head. I just kept seeing it. And that's like i love it. I can't wait to talk to anybody that what you were thinking about what you said. I've been on both sides of this chasing they're going. You wrecked me and which me right so i was amazed at how he handled it. But i i. I like chase so it's hard to like. Call him out. Yeah you got me man. I got nothing for you. You went straight through the grass. You shouldn't was a penalty one too. I don't put the onus on the team at the spa you went straight through the grass miss feet. And then you hit the guy square in the bumper in your rectum. So he's a rookie. Chuck up learning experience. Which is too bad because now listen. I'm okay with the move but let's not make it sound like he just missed a corner. I mean ran him off track. But that's but that's what happens when you're on the outside going to try and restart right the leader you sort of have that prerogative to receive issue. Yeah let's talk about any firm and now you bring that up. I saw a lot of that on social. That people were impressed with the way the composure. He showed the classy show the way he handled it. I think a lot of people thought this was a fistfight. And it wasn't i mean. Denny made his point very firmly. You're in the wrong but he didn't necessarily raise his voice too much didn't get animated. He just let it play out. Is that aside denny. Hamlin that maybe we don't see years ago because now he's the team owner. I i do think that all has to do with it. He's now in a lot. More meetings ever been in from all the different hats he wears and he's vocal in the garage. Area has every right to be right. He's a superstar. I hope that there's a second conversation right because it happened at pit road probably had to happen now like shirley. We're not just gonna go drop the green at michigan right. Like if i'm chase. I reach probably backout thursday friday and be like hey man. I went back and reviewed it back and watched it. Here's my opinion. Now because danny got to be denny because i don't know who the veterans were when he came in i'd have to go. Look bobby labonte. Probably dale jarrett's whoever's well now he's those guys in goes great. He's going to be there for a long time right. So so i i liked the fact. That danny doesn't need another enemy in this world. So what does he do. Stop down what. What does that do for him. I mean nothing changes the thing. So you're right. I mean it's de hamlin was rookie in two thousand six. This'll be the sixteenth season. The cup series new year right like the guys. Jeff gordon dale jarrett. Those guys stole would have been around. Probably molding him at that. Point in an indirect way tony stewart is obviously yeah interesting thought there so it felt like two races stevie the i seventy five laps or so were terrific. I thought this road course you know we were talking before we taping this as you put. It was beautiful in terms of layout had everything. Yeah the the way. It's sort of engendered. Some really strong racing. You guys spin out you guys lean. You didn't have full.

"All right. Let's run down the top ten finishers at the monster mile at dover. We've got to call customer last week's guest on the program. Yeah and that's a second top ten in the season and he's like twenty fifth and points like oh my gosh. She's having such a horrible season. he's actually ahead of where he was last year at this point and if you remember correctly he went on to be in the playoffs. Last year this point he had one top ten and now he has to this year. So maybe maybe just maybe you turn it around daniels whereas with a top ten. That's pretty cool. Yeah and that track team has been really good for an upstart team. Obviously they're bringing in a lot of equipment from our cr and stuff like that but still there's still getting it down with with what they're given so that's a top five and top ten this season. Lots of top fifteen's they're sitting twenty second in points that's not too shabby it's The dovers not easy either. This is not any no he said. Piece a cake track so now and he was holding off. Hamlin there for a while at the end of this thing. Yeah yeah how. Many top ten tyler. Radic had now. It sure feels like he's been top ten every week flicked last eight. He's been up there. That's interesting to find out. Here william byron but still no but man. He's up to six this season and he only had nine all of last year so now it's one two three three in the last four. I thought so in the last five eight and then of course Born last six you got denny hamlin who basically lives in the top ten. Yeah that's what he does. He just doesn't live in victory lane. This is a problem. There's it's it's been cordoned off with crime scene tape or something. He's not allowed in there. It's sponsored by eps or something. Right and then. So Friday, the new tax assessments were mailed out. Some people may have started getting them. So Steve Watson, he was the chief appraiser. For the whole county tax assessor's office. It could be joining us. We got together with him last year, and you can't remember been a year. So we're gonna We're gonna talk with him about about if those what went into this process who should be expecting them How it all works. And of course, you can call in and ask questions. And then later on, we're going to talk to Bob Bruder. Who is the head of a group called Faith Bridge, which is a foster care organization, and this is national foster care month and, of course in Georgia. We've made a lot of progress in this, but they're still a long way to go. There are lot of issues with teenage foster care kids and nowhere to go. So I'm going to talk a little bit about that. It's a big deal. Uh, and you know, there's a lot of things that happened. I mean, there's still the fall out from teacher lance bottoms. And of course, we have a mayoral rex election here at the end of the year. So does this affect what goes in Atlanta? Does this affect us? There was some news about the Kentucky Derby, and it was a pretty bad weekend on the lake. I had a great weekend. By the way, though, it was Mother's Day weekend. Well, you know, we talked about a lot of different things yesterday and one of the questions I asked you was. What do you see is one of the biggest issues that you face when people come in. To get planning and what they face as they're planning their retirement. So I kind of share that nun rapped because I think that's something that we need. T be aware of yet a very, very eye opening answer. You know, One of the biggest mistakes I see is waiting until retirement to start planning your retirement. Yeah, c e. I find that hard to believe. What happens. We're so busy, right? We're busy with our families were busy with our work and it sneaks up on us. All right. Where were all of a sudden we're 45 The next day we turn around or 65 blank baby, don't blank. And so when I when I What I prefer is I love it An ideal scenario. I've got a 10 year. Ramp toe work with somebody Because this is complicated. We're integrating income planning growth planning tax planning a state planning healthcare planning. And that takes takes a lot of work and modeling and things and then it's going to change some. So we have to have that flexibility s O. The sooner you start, the better if one that rampant in years, I said, Hey, let's start doing some initial modeling and you know it will tighten up as you get closer, But the next best day is now if it is two years from now, don't wait till two months before you retire. Let's start because the longer we have the better position or stronger position, we can get somebody in by the time they do retire. And of course, you throw into all the things that you mentioned the factors that go in there. One of the other factors is that is the challenge of 500 plus ways to take yourselves security systems. He's kind of got about integrating. What's the optimized way to do that? And so what we're looking for is potential problems and surprises if we can eliminate those in the pre work Gonna make retirement or what better situation or a lot more positive experience. That's the same thing they say if you if you want if you want shade should've play on the 3 10 years ago, But the next best time is today. That's right. Let's get a little shade. Darlington Raceway Throwback Weekend 2021 is on now

"Is darlington throwback weekend where you're going to see paint schemes or vinyl wrap schemes honestly from many eras of nascar racing. The place is called the lady in black the track too tough to tame and drivers race each other instead of the race track. They will most certainly earn a darlington stripe on the side of their car. it's race number twelve. We've had ten different winter so far in eleven races. On a one point three six mile oval the cup races two hundred ninety three laps or four hundred point two miles stage. One is ninety laps stage to ninety five laps. final stage wing it at one eight. They ran three races at darlington last year. And they were one by kevin harvick's denny hamlin and kevin harvick yet again. All three series are in action cup series sunday three thirty pm eastern on f s one xfinity series saturday one pm eastern on f s one and the truck series seven thirty pm eastern friday on f s one. We went backwards on that. Ross chastain gets a setup for darlington this weekend darlington's tell in the cup series. Is the toughest adapt in be able to hustle these cup cars in a way. That's that sufficient. I think i found pretty good balance so that last year with extended cars in the cup. I just haven't found that at last night. I thought we had a good shot run top kansas. If if i get a good start there towards the end so same at darlington just you're down.

Why Is Bubba Wallace so Confident?

"Bubba. Wallace is on. And he. Rates the season. So far driving for denny hamlin and michael jordan in that twenty three car. I had high expectations going in the martinsville because the success there and how well i've run there in the past and how well twitter has run there. We just kinda miss sometimes going into these next fourteen races in a row that we have Let's see what happens. I know we're going to run top. Twenty hopefully fifteen and start breaking down the top fifteen barrier and and consistently get there. Then start so people are way there. It's only a matter of time. We're we're hitting all fall ciller. Cylinders aren't firing at the same time. But we're getting all they're all kind of sporadic so it's like once we get that doubt and there's a lot of potential of his team act. Continue to say that like that's that's one of the most exciting things as can be this weekend. Yeah finishes could be a couple of spots or overcooked it all together. We're figured out what we need to secure those fox earlier in the race and go five something much greater than what we have been so You know we're only increases in and no one's right. The ship yet for our team in they still have our kinks ironed out and little things that are holding us back you bunch of little things. Add up to one big thing. So we'll be just

"Denny Hamlin thanks for making SportsCenter all night part of your night I'm J. Reynolds ESPN radio ESPN app Sirius XM channel eighty eight did come down to the wire over time in fact Monday at Daytona but his driver's jockeyed for position as they headed for home Ryan Newman moved into the lead Ryan Blaney is bumper caught the back of Newman's number six car that said Newman into the wall airborne under his roof all of this in a fiery crash and then a long stretch of time where there was serious concern for NASCAR officials Steve o'donnell finally let us know Ryan Newman is being treated at Halifax Medical Center he's in serious condition but doctors have indicated his injuries are non life threatening we appreciate your thoughts and prayers and ask that you respect the privacy of Ryan and his family during this time we appreciate your patience and cooperation and will provide more information as it becomes available took a long time for us to get that news the scene at the track was frightening all the while Denny Hamlin was celebrating his second straight Daytona five hundred win repeats as champion just the fourth to do that the sixth driver to win the five hundred three times he joined Richard Petty is the only drivers to win three times in a five year span Hamlin read a lead the race for seventy nine laps including the final twelve Ryan Newman though in a lot of the prayers after crashing on that final lap it was last number two hundred nine with the overtime as long as Daytona five hundred ever ESPN's Ryan McGee was there well first of all it was it was incredible I mean the racing was amazing and had it not been for would have one Ryan Newman right now I will be working diligently on my ESPN dot com column about one of the greatest finishes in the history of the dates on top corner which is still waters this is my twenty fifth there comes three weeks and when I used to come down here in the nineties this feeling in the restoration of all man somebody might be dead if someone did happen all the time it almost could cover the sport because it happened so much if your heart died well there were eighteen the anniversary tomorrow in two thousand one no one in the top three NASCAR national series as dot on the racetrack since then the calls of the safety innovations that had to be we had to be killed or hard to do it but they did it and there was there was a feeling in it at the racetrack tonight that I have not had in a long time at the tone and it's thankfully a couple hours later that was countered with elation because because we received the news that yes Ryan Newman is injured but it is not life threatening he was saying that this was bad office for NASCAR bad outs for Denny Hamlin celebrate as a you know it now's not the time for that because it's more there is to be more consumer Ryan Newman and his future especially with him going to the hospital but what was the feeling around the track when this new star the filled the more more to each driver once they realized the potential Verity of the edges of Ryan Newman well it just so people understand too were raised in it is a confusing all crazy environment and in the case of Denny Hamlin you know he was already doing you know burn out and donuts also full here on the hook is radio dot point in his spotter was try his bar the the person communicates with them from the roof of the racetrack do you double down Ryan Newman spotter Kantana give some information to the lever and I was standing in victory lane and standing two feet from the Gibbs and proposed don't know this is Joe Gibbs of the Washington Redskins coach you know who the hall of Famer and he's Denny Hamlin policy on the race car and Joe goes walk in victory lane had no idea they were Denny Hamlin pulled his coat and rejoined he had no idea the instant they knew they shut it down is there anyone who's criticizing them right now doesn't understand how all this works and so yes I know the opted for bad but I'll tell you right now had they known they wanted done it Joe give the refused to go up on stage he refused to celebrate angel he had an update online news condition when there wasn't one he left and Denny Hamlin do a handful of interviews including Brussels for center and guess what during the interview con asking questions about making history and he said all I could think about round runners run it so anyone who's criticize anyone if the Joe Gibbs racing camps and I they just quite frankly don't know what you're talking about I mean think about it though when it comes to Denny Hamlin three Daytona five hundred wins in five years I mean yeah not not seen as the sap I would never say that because this is more for the racing what happened Robert Newman but you're so now we will be talking about the fact that this was his story when he was able to do hi you've been able to do this at this track like this three times in the last five years there's only three other drivers in the history of this razor sharp nineteen fifty nine and only three other drivers who won back to back Daytona five hundred Richard Petty you heard him tell Yarborough you heard him and Starland if you are a race fan in the nineties you certainly heard Starland and so when I threw those names out of Denny Hamlin he just started laughing and he just goes your heroes he has a limit in and he said my name is oblong next to those names well it does what he's done his historic and he's always had a knack at this place and you know there's always the question of who's the greatest driver who's never won a championship and there's a lot of great names that are out there but the Denny Hamlin his he has a hall of fame resume whether he was a culture change or not that's all Ryan McGee programming note he'll join goal to win go this morning at eight thirty eastern time Denny Hamlin fourth Daytona five hundred win for Joe Gibbs racing three of them for handling one for Dale.

We don't look we don't like to look foolish. So why would I volunteer. Look Foolish and and have him over there just an embarrassing. I gotTa Tell Ya. Friendship with Jordan seems very stressful. You don't want to send the wrong thing or else it's over. No doubt it out to do you have any good Jordan gambling stories Well not none of the stakes that That's been in the media late later but We we like to have a friendly wager for sure. Can you tell me a little bit about what happened with you. Enjoy Lugano a couple of weeks ago. You seem like a reasonable man eve- even tempered but those things happen sometimes when racing. That are problematic. Correct I mean you know from my standpoint I made a mistake on the racetrack Got Into the side of them where it was at the end of the race where everyone the role was pushing and shoving and it was really tight quarters this at Nascar short track And it basically cut his tired out and and it was upset about it. Wanted come over and talk to me We were having a very civil conversation for a while but I don't think that I probably was giving him like the You know man and I you know I'm so sorry I'm so sorry type attitude toward them I was you know I apologize. That I wasn't over the top. And he I guess he just Kinda took offense to it and then he'll shovel the shoulder but as he was walking away not not as he was standing there and so I was like no you. Can't you can't do that so you gotta are. You gotta stick up for yourself and and essentially go after the guy so what level of sorry where you actually though like did did you. You were sorry yeah absolutely I mean I knew that I messed up I told him that I just misjudge the situation. And if that answered just good enough you know for him and I think that yeah really I think he you know. He's stated that he would do things differently. I don't know that I would. I mean you can't just let someone you know you kind of shove on the way on the way out the door and not doing anything about it so I think it was handled the way it needed to be any Hamlin. Once you've got a baby we got my kids here and they're starting to play with each other langer my lap so I just yeah. We're down here in Media Day in Miami Getting Ready for the last race and I want to enjoy it with them and spend time with them. During the time Roy for some reason dumped the baby a baby was not cursing. It was just a baby. I got scared thought it was occurs denny any handling with us the NASCAR Cup Series Championship. Homestead Miami speedway this Sunday three PM Eastern on NBC. When you look back so you've you've been very steady is is the big memory? If you have to choose one victory is it does it have to be Daytona. Because because of the tradition there. You've wanted twice another one. It's the biggest race by far as far as the prestigious side of things. You know one two of them One of them in two thousand sixteen was on a final passed. We had the closest finish in the history of that race You know that was a big one. But I'll be honest us with is probably the one I had last weekend was the most significant one of my career because we were in a win or go home situation we had to to win and we you know we. We didn't win. Essentially were out and we work can be part of the championship. Four in Miami and we stepped up to the plate and we knocked doc it out Denney put us at the post race celebration after winning your first Daytona. It was major. I can tell you this. I was not prepared for the the media. Day that that ensued right after Daytona in two thousand sixteen. I learned my lesson two thousand nineteen though I definitely did not go quite as it's hard at it but man. It was a tough plane. Right up I was sick for most of the day and between interviews it was just. It was a tough one. Well how much did you drink like. What was that nightline? Did you sleep at all. Well I don't know you know you can't you lose cam at some point right so you were throwing. Oh you got you got sick that yeah I mean you guys are once in a lifetime opportunities and he just you know I was able to have my team around and so most wins After the races are over the driver you know gets an in the plane. He goes home the teams in the plane and they go home and they're never together but with Tony. No no you guys use media the next day so you have to stay overnight at the track. Well as you know in the city so it'd be able to like go out that night and celebrate with them essentially like a championship. Mike Ryan is staring right. Now at your home on the Internet We're doing this to us so you're not bragging about this but can you sort of take. Take us on a tour fewer trying to impress somebody with your home. What what would you show them? If you were trying to impress somebody. Okay all right. That's a pretty easy easy. When I mean you can either go to victory lanes where there's putting green and a bowling alley and all that stuff and or you can go upstairs stairs? My favorite room has always been my media room Where we watch movies and stuff but it has a glass wall that looks into that two thousand Sixteen Daytona five hundred car with the trophy right there next to it? So it's it's like victory lanes you know. We have the confetti. The car dirty still right off the racetrack. So being able to have like that car. That's significant car. My biggest win sitting right there in the living room is very cool. My grind is just sitting here staring at this. How did that go over? Were there any objections putting it there anywhere else in the family. No No I had sole control of the building of with that house So I kind of did it in is oddly enough you know when I was In the middle of doing all the plans and all that stuff I knew knew that I wanted to have this kind of glass show room of of cars that are significant to me and my career But never knew like what would be that that. That's let's showcase car like I don't have a showcase car An oddly enough right before we moved in. We want to five hundred and I'm like well we've got the car now at school Denny Hamlin with us again Nascar Cup series championship. "So is this voice a wonderfully beautiful young Brown woman grabbing me gently by the hand and taking me towards sensual eroticism. Or is it Joe PESCI. It's a sticky. Bandit where is Joe Patchy in here all right now. He's just sitting sitting down watching. Adam Levine really carry this song without a credit credit to him really. Well actually no credit to him but I hope he's getting like all of the publishing. That's how you do it if you actually. That's how you would do it. Huge farm out the work other singers Speaking of people from the world of music What the Hell is moby doing man? This is a hard midlife crisis. There was a whole Natalie Portman thing that's the last time we heard from moby moby in his book said he dated Natalie Portman She Called him a creeper he apology. He doubled down on it and then got scared and apologized profusely and ran away and did he. Then get a bunch of tattoos. Yes so he thought at age fifty four. It was the right age to finally venture into the ink game and he got Vegan for life in block letters tattooed dude on his neck. Now exactly you know inconspicuous like right there. Big Block letter. He had no tattoos before this. This was a visible tattoo. A two certainly and he had Vegan for life tattooed on his neck as big as possible on that side of the next. So you're like okay. He might lived regret that at age. Fifty four but whatever do you moby. He then emptied out his pool and filled it with cement and then planted a bunch of native plants. Because he's he's like this is much better than a pool and energy sucking pool and we put a bunch of plants here which all right good on you and now he is like you know the block letter. Tattoo is really really working for me so he put two huge block letter tattoos on one arm and says animal and on the other arm it says writes. He is fully padded up right now. He is all in on being there for animals in every kind away and I think the Internet's just meeting him with a presumptive like food this midlife crisis hit you hard. it is though a nice sentiment that he has turned himself into a billboard for for life. You've whether it be plants or animals like it's A. It's a huge amount of passion. If you could if it's not something I would do and I don't believe even anything enough. In fact put goal. Do you get a Nachos Tattoo together to get tattoos after fifty. The only person that I know. Who's done that? What is Tony Larussa? What oh it didn't lost a bet? Yeah Patino have to get a tattoo. Did Rick Pitino half to also get a tech block the bat but if you're going to get to get a tattoo to get tattoos for the first time after fifty is suspect by itself to get at those particular tattoos Those look at me tattoos. they're indisputably look at me but it's a 'cause it's a 'cause he's sitting here telling you what happened. All of you guys are all of you guys are saying eat meat. Shut up lebatardshow moby. I bet you write a check. xactly write a check and the money money you spend on the Tattoo. Give that to charity. The only thing that you're raising awareness about is that your life has turned out pretty sad. Things took a turn after that Natalie Portman thing the only thing he's raising awareness for you don't believe he's raising awareness for animal rights. No no no. He's Rano you don't learn it said you can never book moby again. Strange thing I feel I feel like. It's indisputably indisputably true. That if I give anyone a modicum of fame and take some principal and Tattoo in and away on their body that gets everyone clucking even benefits polarizing and to mock you he becomes a martyr on behalf he becomes a martyr on behalf of meat. This has made me aware air more aware of animal rights. I've always been aware sitting here talking right now. About Animal Ryan Tattoos talk about moby checking. Beat me hungry. Why couldn't he just put a tattoo on his somewhere else? Now telling you where you can donate a walking billboard for helping because you guys say just make a donation. Asian donations don't raise awareness donations. Just go somewhere and then that's it that's the end of it. which do you think is actually something that brings more attention which is one that brings more change money attention right I? How much money do you want him to give? Because both of those bring change honestly the way that it's going you should probably save some that money really now now we're experts on moby book tour. I'm just saying yes. This is someone. That's raising awareness for 'cause yeah it's on your face. You have been raising awareness for you. Look like Ace Ventura pet detective tweet your go fund me after a vetting process asked about you write a song you look like. You're raising awareness for Nicholas Cage. Yeah raising this is probably a look. You shouldn't co Oh with you are raising your raising awareness. Four Four Magnum Pi. Your wedding pictures are going to be so great. uh-huh Aaron Rodgers thing where he just has a mustache for the preseason photos so we can all laugh throughout the season when you look back at you or wedding photos. It's GonNa Mia who also got an a face tattoo like his I yeah he has a VN an excellent next moby. Mike also got some the Matt Dillon from something about Mary. Yes so good telling Lorenzo look you failed mightily at putting anything on the screen when you had to during billy's music dome segment. But I insist that we have a box up at the beginning of the next ex segment. That has all four of these people and Mike Ryan's look and I want to see for myself which one Mike Ryan looks more like today does does he look like nineteen ninety s era. Tom Selleck does he look like Jim Carey pet. Detective does he look like as fence era. yes thank you. Does he look like Nicholas Cage in raising Arizona or does he look like mattress. Imagine something about. Hey I'm andy if you don't know me it's probably because I'm not famous but but.

"WESTBROOK sound You quoting it is funny by itself you hitting us with. y'All is funny but I'd prefer to hear it in the voice of the hissing radiator Russell so westbrook and then get your thoughts on what it is that Russell Westbrook says about Patrick Beverley which is Patrick Beverly's reputation is earned inside and outside outside of the NBA. People will tell you that he plays exceptional defense but Russell Westbrook is saying no he doesn't Patrick Mannequin Body manages underground as you've seen what happened. Forty seven all that commotion. James hearted know what's funny is what's funny about that. is just the spectacular ignorance in it because when James Harden was is guarded by Patrick Beverley was over six with four turnovers but like he got his forty-seven on everyone else to be fair. Though Russell Westbrook could go over six in front of nobody right you would think that they would keep beverly on hard to know if that were the case it work. What it is it's sort of It explains to you sometimes. How it is that players even though they know more than us by leaps and bounds very often about what it takes to be great at their sports? Sometimes the data people know more and can give it to you instantaneously while Russell Westbrook is out there. Playing doesn't realize that Patrick Beverley was now. I don't know if anyone can actually bother James Harden but last night was not the night to criticize Patrick Beverley Defense on hard and got the one basket against Beverley on a layup okay. He took seven shots. As you pointed out I mean he guarded him. Pretty well. I saw sportscenter was over. Six wasn't even one for for seven was over six with four turnovers to russells point though Patrick Beverley is coming off a year in which he posted a career low and wind shares. And he's not doing great this season In terms of that advanced metric that I can't even begin to quantify that one's a tough one at a number I run with it basically. Did you just trust them. Guys what else are you supposed to. Actually that's fair. That's fair on the defensive. Metrics you guys you guys say that all right got got it. I don't want to argue with Chris. Why did I hear you complaining about painting earlier? Oh my God thank you for giving me this platform. 'cause I really WanNa to let people know. Hey if you ever buy a house which I just did and we do a bunch of remodeling P- spent a pretty penny on new kitchen new flooring don't ever so you think yourself having to save a little money paint the inside of it all of it all the rooms living rooms don't ever do that. It sounds like hey you know have a nice weekend invite people over. Have a painting party. Don't do it because you think you're done first of all coats all right. How about hey paint? How about you come out with a paint that you don't need to coax all right no one tells hells yeah you gotTa do it twice the paint the whole house twice? Put It on the pole. Hey paint how about you come out and tell us about needing coats. Yes yes or no seriously such a thing that I was like all right you know what of all the construction I'm not I'm not constructing the kitchen. I'm not laying down the floor. I can do this on my own. I can paint and I did it. I got about halfway through and just WANNA hire. I WANNA bring someone in to finish it I just like can I do that. Like A fit. How long did halfway through take you is halfway halfway through painting it all once you got halfway through painting it once and now you've got a pain in the second time as well months into this project I'm not even kidding and I'm not even thought it was done nine now? I'm doing the borders and these each door has a frame and these frames have little nooks where you gotta get there with a small brush. It is the worst decision I've ever made in my entire you doing it. Well are you making because it's also difficult. It's also a skill set. Where if you do it poorly you can end up spilling paint on things that are valuable ugly? I'm I'm not great at it so I've had to go in and you have to touch-ups afterwards because you get you touch the roof a little bit. You're trying to do because the roller parts easy. That's a breeze. I love that part. It's the edges All the edges and then you gotta go details everything twice. I'm looking I walls. I'm like that doesn't need a second coke that's fine that's good. That was painter's tape is four Chris. That's what that's another other scam. This painter's tape. You think you've put this tape on and you're like now. I can just be reckless because that tapes there and then you you pull the tape off and the tape went under the paint went underneath a tape I am done with all of this. This is a everybody. Don't look at me everyone. Look at me. Don't ever ever paint your own house. I know it say you're going going to save some money. We are spending all. Don't paint your own house paint on my elbow right now. I have pain on my hand and yeah I know actually and that's another thing showering once you paint and you're done you're in the shower. I spent forty five minutes rubbing off and then you realize you have it it on the I. Just look right. The rises right. I hate painting. That's the moral of the story Chris. I'm not joking when I say I have known you. I've known you since you were a very small child. I've never seen you this angry because the oath doesn't do angry when if any of you ever seen Chris Chris be angry. He's always jolly I also can't this is all feelings. I have expressed my wife because this was her decision. And I haven't been able to do it. This is bottling over and I just finally get a platform to complain about this. Don't we gotta save some money. We'll do it ourselves. We'll you do it ourselves because I was at the House last night at nine thirty PM at the Corner Corner in whatever the Hell I'm Chris you haven't learned that we meet you. Thank God we'll have a paid park. No one's helped it's been me. She paints a little door here like she went over the night for two hours. She painted one door and then she comes home feeling all accomplished and I went over yesterday. I had the two other doors. I paint the bookshop bookshop. Don't ever paint wait a minute. You should leave her. We means you weddings off. I'm not getting married anymore. We means as you and it's given your size generally applies Chris how does your wife feel about the job that you're doing. I.

"Way here for the moment as we continue to watch the domination of Denny Hamlin behind him it's Ryan Blaney but it's a good two point three seconds back to Blaney about six parlance back Keselowski six more back to Kevin Harvick Hey next week the Xfinity series heads to Iowa for the US cellular to fifty and that'll be four thirty on the motor racing network and next Sunday monster energy series makes their second visit to Pocono Raceway for the Gander RV four hundred two o'clock eastern time there on M. are in and they will be using the PJ one for the first time at Pocono on the tricky triangle and remember next season they'll run a NASCAR monster energy Cup series double header weekend evoking a looking forward to that I think that's a grand experiment marketing depending how that works might see more that in the future I applaud NASCAR for doing that I think that it's going to take some innovative thinking because I think in the long run I'd like to see this season the shorter I'm not saying less racist but condense the season down on that good way to do it after going to the garage area after an extended stay there David Ragan is coming back out on to the racetrack and he'll be scored thirty nine laps down it's gonna be tough that really I gotta get back in the car it's a hundred and forty degrees in there and I'm gonna go back out and fight for a spot when I'm thirty nine laps down and I just got cool I mean now you gotta get all heated up back up again if that's a tough break for David rake because he ran pretty strong early on dog had a chance for top fifteen that's the kind of stuff to front row motorsports is aiming for in Michael McDowell still running eighteenth he's better pretty strong afternoon in that front row motor sports cars well what's in the race leader Denny Hamlin continue to pull away from that second place running car here goes Hammond he'll go across the granite strike you got away along there is Ryan Blaney thing cans Laskin Harvick two and a half seconds the advantage here for Denny Hamlin so Denny Hamlin al he goes by the lab when how falso Austin Dillon who had problems earlier brought out a couple a caution flag he moves over for Denny Hamlin so Hamlin right now chopping through traffic Doug that car whether he has to go to the bottom or go to the top it just gets a good run through the center a good run off alright here we go as far as self winding this one down with only forty nine laps to go and mark I think it's going to come down to keep pit stops I don't know if they bought enough time with those two quick cautions to go to the finish I think that's going to be a big difference maker it's going to be tight it'll be a close perhaps on fuel but we did get word from our o'reilly auto parts for reporters most of the teams thought they could get their from where we had our last caution flag will get an update from those guys maybe they can double check that to make sure that is truly our situation here as they complete lap to fifty five that leaves forty six laps to go here on the magic mile not a lot of racing left here in Loudon New Hampshire as we are in one to fifty four as mark just told you it's the Denny Hamlin show for the moment nobody showed that they got anything for him Ryan Blaney resting back in second although he did pick up for tents as Hammond had to navigate a little bit traffic and we just got an update from our o'reilly auto parts for reporters they are confirming all the top teams teams on the lead lap that pitted the last yellow flag have enough sin OQO fuel to make it to the end of the race well it's a big game changer now can anybody run down Denny Hamlin Ryan Blaney picked up the pace just a little bit but I still think that most of that was probably due to lap traffic the Hammond had doing cameras were watching him with exit for and now there is Ryan Blaney so we'll give you the split here before we go down to our pit reporter Steve Richards is Hammond flashes across the stripe here comes Ryan Blaney and the differential is two point three seconds over to Steve bridge.
