More than anything unbelievable person in terms of his ability to become just a A kind of a tormented lifestyle when he was a kid so i i can't wait to get to that at the moment of this recording. The lakers rather playoffs. The clippers are down one after an incredible come-from-behind series victory against the dallas mavericks. The nets up two games. A non on the nets and and the hawks as well as they've played they don't have the andrea hunter for the season he underwent an mri which revealed a small tear. Tears the lateral meniscus. He under when surgery on the meniscus today and he's out the rest of the season. So that's a bummer. Because he's incredibly versatile and a very talented kid even if the one game they lost the knicks. Missed a bunch of shots he should he normally makes so i just. I just think that what's really really interesting really really interesting. Is that here. we are. And we're talking about the lakers. And because they lost in the first round. I think people will pick apart the decisions that that rob pelinka made a agree with all of them. I thought dennis schreuder was an off the bench guy not a starter and i think that got exposes. I've seen a line like You know my cousin stuff. I used to eleven years old. I used to go to his games. And i didn't even play but but but like why like new york. When i think in new york city i think of all players and then staff was like like a legend very early on right and i just but why weren't you playing was. You just didn't like it like oh our streets. It i was gonna street was really. I'm not trying to brag about it or claiming. anything is just you know. My path is different I didn't have my parents went up. So i didn't have any kind of guidance. A stuck out his brothers play basketball all play visual basketball so he was able to see that and follow that so he had some type of motivation. Do the sports and unlike me. I didn't have that same motivation. A speech fighting. And you know hanging out with drug dealers and stuff like that and then you know i. I made a turning point in my life. Though what the hell of my mental missile move passed away Back in two thousand seven but he. He was the guy that transition from the street. Playing basketball you. Your your mom was was murdered when you're four years old. What and this is like. I'm guessing there's no therapy at the time. How did you deal with not having your parents. How'd you deal with being on your own well arm. In the street you know self destructing was fighting ally Wasn't like wasn't a school kid. You know i. I i was cutting class. You know early well cutting school early. You know when. I was young so i was just you know it was. It was traumatizing noting that there's no way that you can deal with that type of trauma. No luckily thing that i i didn't really hurt anyone severely because i hurt myself building. So.

"That back over and over and over again and it's pretty wild and a kind of look it just is what it is. It's just bad luck. Some because he has a history yes but he hasn't had like a history where it's been debilitating injuries. This is first one that you're like. Yo dennis schreuder can be a real fit for this team moving forward and then the covert thing happened. The protocols thing happened again and it felt like after that he made that room e got he had that interview with the german outlet where he said something about lebron and then all of a sudden everything went spiraling out of control for him. It felt like he was never the same player after whether whether it was a diagnosis of covid or just the controversy that surrounded all that stuff. He was never the same player and in the moment of truth. Okay when you look at these. Two teams chris. Paul was hurt man like hurt. He couldn't feel the damn ball for a couple of games and the dudes around him stepped up. And you know what happened with the lakers won their dudes or not playing. Well they did not me stat moment. No they did not meet that moment saying next man up but dot dot dot but not me right it was. It was really like i'm going to. I'm going to cut dennis a little bit of slack in the sense that he played better last night than he did gain five. He had a very strong bounce back game for him. He's really exerting himself in a defensive and he's four court pressure for some possessions so overall not just the point total but just the output. Lebron is a quarterback lebron would have taken the glory had they come back and one and probably would have deserved it of course but on the other hand what. In who knew what was gonna happen to the celtics the minute they walked off the floor and barclay center and the talk about all of this is one of our favorites from the worldwide leader in sports. What are they do. What are the moves that that this team used to let you think well rich you know. That anthony davis plays in this game six and i think a a margin for error on this laker team. That is pretty significant. I mean you saw without. Anthony davis lost by thirty and Or without lebron playing. I mean they're gonna struggle. They need both of those players to win in the postseason in both implying at a really high level so even up. Anthony davis who's physically limited in a game six. It worries you because this phoenix team. When chris paul zeman on the floor and healthy and able to be some relative maximilian himself. They've they've they've been great. I mean they've been great against laker team. And and so you know all the young some of the younger role players people thought well first time in the playoffs Let's see how it goes for them. Mikhail bridges been terrific devon booker obviously not a role player star player You know these young guys have shown their you know. The stage isn't too big for them even at this early point in their career. So i think For this laker team it is fragile right now and this championship windows fragile. Because you don't know. Something that senator not anything debilitating or long-term anything like that. But it's always just been something so you were going to be asking. Anthony davis basically ten minutes after the finals. Were over to get back and start playing again. Playing at the level he was playing. It will will a court. You know the history of anthony davis eventually he was going to break down. So what the two main components the two main superstars. The foundation pieces for the los angeles lakers to win it. Nba championship. what they're doing right now. This is their off-season. This is what they're doing to get themselves ready right now to get ready for. The playoffs is to be refreshed. It to be ready mentally physically ready to go. We all know about the recovery powers of lebron james and we all know about the mind that lebron james has for the game of basketball to wear. "Where. We are at the midway point of the nba season. And that means. I have questions for you about the utah jazz. I say the utah jazz to you. Right now what comes to mind a whole lot of threes there making these every time you know checkup jazz box score at my brain just glances over twenty two thousand from three leg. It's just nothing there number two in defense in number three or something in offense. They do profile as championship contender. Like they're the best team in the league by record right now. Are they the best team in the league to you. While the comparison that that's become sort of commonplaces they're they're the new sixty win hawks. The team that was built to win a lot of games regular season pretty ball movement side to side movement. You don't really have the star power to compete against lebron james when it comes down to it in the playoffs but i don't think they're just sort of blake a regular season flute so the way the jazz are playing right now. It reminds me not just of the hawks as you said but also a kind of mutant version of the houston rockets simply because of the sheer volume of threes. Does that comparison sounded all right and also does that comparison than invite the questions about what happens in the postseason. If shooting a bunch of threes doesn't go as well as it did in the regular season. That comparison does not ring true to me honestly just stylistically. They're so different. The volume of threes is similar. Like they are taking a houston. Daryl morey level volume of threes. But they play so differently. The other comparison is brad stevens. I think the first one to give voice to this is to two thousand fourteen spurs which is kind of like. And that's a little scary. The team that this discussion has occurred in the context of is the lakers. As you said as it must be the defending champions and so when you look at the lakers right now. I want to get to lebron specifically in a second but just them without anthony davis and how much they've struggled most recently losing to these jazz and blow out. What is that revealing to you or confirming to you about what this team needs to actually content. I think like any team. They need their best players to be healthy. I i'm pretty low on the lakers panic meter because it's not just anthony. Davis who you know was first team all nba hill assures. Anthony davis is not like some borderline all the best players in the league. Dennis schreuder is maybe their third best player. I think kyle kuzma is kind of the claim that mantle disturbing might be their third most important player. Because he's the only other guy. With the exception of some frisky alex russo games entail.
