"40 ktrh. 7 20 three's a time here on Houston's Morning news. Well, history would tell us the 2022 should be a pretty good year for conservative resurgence, joins talk about forward Texas House Speaker And political analyst Dennis Bonnin. Good to have you on, sir. Let's let's talk about other than the fact that this happens every off election year to the The Presidential party. Whoever's in power. What are some of the other reasons? You think that this could be a great election coming up for conservatives? Well, first and foremost is President Biden has ignored the border, and it's sort of spectacularly hard to explain how he appointed vice president to be in charge of the border, and then she never goes to the border talks about the border or shows. Any concern for the border. Every voter in Texas and in the country sees the border so the crisis and disaster that it has become And I think that is something that people will respond to, um at the ballot box. They will very much say the border matters to us, and it must not be allowed to be just a complete Uh, sit in disaster and, more importantly, not be paid attention to by the administration, and that's a huge problem that people also don't want their taxes raised them President. Biden can say he's only gonna raise taxes on rich people or this person or that person. But you know, the voters are smarter than that. And they understand that he's talking about raising taxes on pretty much everybody in the reality of it is Writing taxes slows economy hurts jobs and people want to get out of this pandemic, which were coming out of, especially in our red states more successfully than blue state. And they're ready to be done with it. They're ready to get to a normal life, and they're ready to not wear a mask. They're ready to have their jobs. They're ready together their festivals and picnics and concerts. And it's clear that Republican and conservative leaders air pushing for that to happen, and Democrat leaders are saying not yet because we like having life control. Yeah, because then you also have media and big tech control because that's how everyone's having to get their information instead of experiencing their lives is more people get out there and experience what this Biden administration is doing to them. Don't you think that's going to have some effect? It absolutely will, In the reality of it is first off the fact that the by administration, saying You can't go experience your life, Great example is you know, Governor Abbott on Monday says We're not gonna take your federal money President Biden where we're gonna pay more people to stay home, and that's the perfect example of that You're going to see the difference between our small business owners. You can't hire someone because they're being paid to stay home and do nothing. In creating a, you know, federal Nanny state, which is the goal of most progressives and liberals. And so you're you're saying that in action every day and you're seeing the difference in government strategies and leadership as you're seeing from Governor Abbott here in Texas, saying we won't take these things we won't allow the mask anymore of those things. You're saying the White House pushing back on all these matters? Some people are saying it. They're tired of it. And I hope is, they will remember between now and the election 2022. Nicer. Wish we had more time. I loved Bobby. You know what? Let's make this. Let's make a slight more time because they do want to ask you what you think will translate to a Texas elections in the midterms. I mean, we ended up with I don't know the most Progressive county judge Maybe in the entire state last midterm election. Can we? Can we turn that around? Do you think we have to? Because you know, the biggest problem with that election was no one took seriously the opportunity to win for Democrats. So instead, you have and this happens. This happens when you have a Corky election like that, And so, then you elect frankly, really unqualified, bad. Cornet. It's because no legitimate Democrats wanted to run against judge in it, So instead you haven't any experienced young lady who doesn't even know what she's doing. I think it was her class project that she actually did this for, um and then she gets controlled by the most liberal of levels. So the rally means we'll have a choice but to take yours County that change out the county judge because, frankly, what you need more Nene thing is not only conservative County judge, but you need one that knows how to govern how to lead and how to make decisions for themselves. If you watch our county judge She simply you Comptel staring forward, waiting for someone in the liberal world to tell her what to do next. You're right. Thank you, sir. Appreciate it. "Just on this hard infrastructure, core infrastructure things that people think of when they think of infrastructure. Roads and bridges, folks, not a lot of the money in that bill is going towards that the way the Democrats are presenting it, Barroso told Fox. One thing they will not give up on those they will not repeal the trump tax cuts of 2017. He also says that Biden doesn't have the votes to kill the Senate filibuster. So, uh, There's no way they can get some things passed without Republicans, helping them. It's now 706 Democrats. They are in control, and they want to keep it that way. History shown. Well, it doesn't last unless they tamper with the vote. Here's ktrh is Jeff Biggs. Great point here. The party out of power traditionally does well during the next midterms, and most Republicans are pretty confident about what they're going to do in 2022. Absolutely. President Biden and the borders are Camilla Harris, who's yet to go to the border and then talk about the border doesn't care about the border are all but guaranteeing that conservatives and Republicans should have a great mid term election. That's former Texas House speaker Dennis Bonding, who also believes the anti Trumpers have some serious voter remorse. Those voters who decided that because of what he might say in a tone they don't appreciate was more important than whether they had a good job and whether they had a good economy and whether they felt safe and whether their border was secured. I would hope to think that they've learned the lesson they realized that made a mistake and I hope it'll be decades before they make a choice like that again. The countdown is on. All right. Thanks a lot, Jeff. Well, we got the House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy, finally announcing No he opposes. This commission to study. The January 6th. Whatever they want to call it. What about all the riots that have led up throughout the summer that the unrest from BLM and teeth and others know you can't investigate that This is driven solely by politics and Nancy Pelosi? Yeah. You know, the FBI calls it an insurrection, but they can't find any proof of an insurrection. They got people locked up on misdemeanor charges. Still in jail. Yeah. And now they want a 9 11 style commission. This is all about Trump. Yeah, it's all about Trump. It's all about ultimately killing any attempt. He might make a comeback here. McCarthy said. The Democrats. Meantime, they're all saying a whole lot about that Capitol police officer who was killed in that attack on good Friday by a terrorist Or on investigations ongoing already of what happened on January six, and he says the commission would just get in the way of that. But the full house is going to take it up today. 709 is our time. Harris County Judge Lena Hadda go well. She did lower the lich overt threat level to orange. "Today to celebrate. Bless your hearts here in Texas. We generally always eat what we want. As long as that thing is brisket or Cajun food text, Max. Yeah, I'm like people on both coasts. Here in Texas. We enjoy gluten and red meat, And that's because we like personal choices and individual freedoms. Being in Texas is all about liberty. Why so many people move here, hopefully right, Which is why the pandemic was such a sobering experience for those of us who voted for Governor Greg Abbott. A lot of us wrongly assumed he was cut from the same cloth is Rick Perry. We were very wrong about that. And instead of handling the pandemic, like Florida's governor, Abbott started off the pandemic by vivid, vividly mimicking what California was doing. Arresting business owners shutting down commerce in the end, locking up hairstylist like our friend Shelly Luther, writing citations to people who work in Jim's. It didn't slow the spread, but it did slow our interest in mainstream Republicans like Greg Abbott, wouldn't it be great? If we had a governor who was more like Ted Cruz or Rand. Paul turns out that just might become a possibility. By the time of her next gubernatorial election this week, myself in many people like me have seriously started. Consider throwing our support behind former Texas State Senator Don Huh? Finds a small government advocate from the Dallas County area. And if you'd like to meet him well, you're very lucky. We've got him on hold right now. For a quick interview this afternoon, I kprc 9 50, don. Are you there, brother? Am Kenny. Good afternoon. How How's Houston Gone? Very awesome, My friend. How are you guys doing up there? It's a rainy day in Dallas, but it's a great week for Texas. You and I have many mutual friends you have actually on and I don't know if you intended to do this, but I think you've hired at least three of my good friends. Just a coincidence. I already liked what you were doing. Um, let's just start off with this because we don't have a lot of time here. How would you have handled the pandemic differently Done? I can tell you this, I sure wouldn't have shut down the state of Texas. That would never happen. The Constitution doesn't give me the authority to do that. And I'm swore oaths to the defend the Constitution and I'm not gonna break it. I'm not gonna pick winners and losers in our business. I'm not going to close our churches. And it would be handled completely different. What a radical idea listening to the Constitution. Instead of listening to CNN on how to handle a health crisis, do you? You had something in you? When you put out the message that you were running for governor? Some people were really surprised. All of it. Pleasantly surprised. You want to get rid of property tax in Texas? Can we do that? Can we live without property tax in the Lone Star state. Absolutely we can and there's there's we've got some good ideas. I had to get that done. And I can tell you the key here is making sure we got the proper leadership. We have toe have leaders that are committed to getting rid of that tax. It's a bad tax Texas or tired of being taxed out of their home. They're tired of running their home from the government. The government basically owns everything in this in the state of Texas, and that's going to come to an end. When the pig when it comes to the people that are currently in charge, you know, damn not a big fan of Dennis bonding, although he's not speaker anymore, Dan Patrick and Governor Abbott have not exactly been pro gun. You know, the last time we have no legislative session here in Texas. Constitutional. Kerry probably could have passed a lot sooner, and now it might actually happen. Although I am a little nervous about the governor, whether or not he'll sign it, I don't know. But what's your position on that? Should we be allowed to carry guns without permits in Texas? Well, let me tell you I was the first senator in history to, uh, author and submit ability to enact constitutional Kerry. Fought hard in the 84 session to get constitutional character priority of our Republic State Republican Party was actually the number one priority. I'm a firm defender of the Second Amendment. I think it's the amendment that is the most important of them all. Do you think that they'll end up passing it this week? What's your prediction? It looks good. But you know, we we've way we've had the wool pulled over our eyes before. Comptel. You We have bad leadership down there in Austin, and that's that's what my campaign is all about. Is leadership. No excuses, and I don't know if they're going to pass it or not. I know that most of this, uh, Republicans don't want it to be passed. But the grassroots do and I hope it does. And I hope it's without any tricks and have a lot amendments and things like that. So you know that you just don't know to the very end. I can tell you, Texas deserve constitutional Carry everybody's time I voter reform this week don and you know, I'm a little biased on this state representative Briscoe Cane's a friend of mine. He's a liberty Republican like I am the MSNBC is going after the guy They're trying to make him look horrible right now. I don't really get how this has anything to do with Jim Crow laws. This idea that you can't bribe somebody to go out and do ballot harvesting. What is your opinion on voter reform right now in places like Texas or Florida or Georgia, for that matter? Look, this is an extremely important issue. Election integrity We know people cheat in elections. That's just a fact. What we need to do is enforce the election laws that are on the books, and that's what I'm going to do. Well, that's what my administration is going to do We need. We're going to enforce the laws and put the cheaters in jail. And then we're gonna have and that's just the bottom line. We've got to make sure that people have confidence in our elections. We got to make sure that their ballots aren't getting stolen. And that's going to happen something that surprises a lot of people around Texas. I mean, besides everything that happens in Austin one specific thing this idea about the public camping ban you go to downtown. If you want to downtown Austin 10 years ago is a beautiful place. If you went there last month, you would see homeless encampments all over the place. Obviously, this has been a complicated issue in Austin. It's kind of become a complicated issue in places like like Houston and Dallas is well, how do we make sure that in a state like Texas we don't give we don't take away rights from property owners and give them to homeless people. Well, I don't find it complicated myself. I think it's quite simple. You don't allow public you don't love public access to private property. Don't allow free camping of government land. It's really quite simply just stopping. I mean, what's going to keep somebody of an RV from, you know, pulling under and spending the night everywhere they want to spend the night. This is this is silliness. It's ridiculous, and it's an embarrassment. Critical race theory. This is should we teach young people that Texas and in America are racist institutions? I'm sure I probably know what you're going to say, but I just feel like we need to put that out there. Look, this is that we're not going to be having that nonsense taught in our schools, and they're as Governor Aiken tell you they won't have any funding if they do. I'm glad to hear that, brother. Hey, here's a question that might divide our audience. A little. I'm a liberty guy. I like Rand. Paul..

"Rock and roll but is only number One hit was his worst song ever. That story's governor with Ed Wellness with the moment in rock'n'roll history at 7 55. It is 7 40 right now. 20 minutes before eight o'clock is an old as a former California I've been a Texan now for nine years. I'm happy and I'm staying here. I'd like to reach out to the other California's They're just moving into town and say, Hey, guess what. Texas Legislature When a decision yesterday and in just over three months, they'll be done for two years. See if California did that. They wouldn't have the kind of mess that they've got right now. Full time Legislature. Anyway, Today's Day two and dark late Nevel is here to tell us what happened yesterday morning, Clayton. Good morning. Yesterday was opening ceremonies. The real big business that was done yesterday was the official vote for the House speaker. We know that Dennis bonding is no longer the speaker. He opted last year not to run for re election. That was amid controversy. We ran those stories last year, and that is that respondent is in the books, and now David feeling has officially been voted in. It was 143 in favor of date feeling. Two against in four didn't vote so an overwhelming vote from the house to make date Beetle in their speaker. He spoke yesterday. There were several other speakers that talked about some of the policies that will be in effect this for is covert 19 testing when you come in limited crowds in the gallery and things like that, so it was mostly ceremonial yesterday, but date feeling being elected officially is the House speaker. Where's the big business? Yeah, no real surprise there. Security also very tight yesterday because of the run on the Capitol in Washington, D. C. Any protesters any problems yesterday? No issues yesterday, Of course, the big question movie this weekend when protesters are encouraged from some organizations to go to state capitals across the country that Governor Abbott talked about this week, saying that DPS is prepared that they're always prepared for safety measures and things like that for security and that he had confidence in them for this week, But there were certainly an extra presents have seen some of the photos. From outside the capital of a significantly increased presence from law enforcement yesterday, wearing some of the tactical gear and things like that, so they already as some of the speakers will. Metcalf was a representative yesterday and he made a speech and he talked about how these air unprecedented times but the Legislature needs anyway. He said that the Legislature doesn't break or pause because of pandemics or because of natural disasters or any circumstance across the country. So Certainly unprecedented times as you go into the gallery with Max as the certain representatives and senators have precautions within their own office. They're doing a lot of virtual meetings and things like that. And then, of course, tension and state capitals across the country, so certainly a different legislative session for the 87th session, But they're getting to business Nonetheless, we're talking about their own plate, Nevel. The state Legislature, of course, can address and effect any number of laws in this state, but they're only real responsibility, according to the Constitution is to come up with a budget for the next two years, and there's gonna be a tough year for him, isn't it? Yeah, yeah, The budget is certainly the top priority is it always is, You know, when you talk about priorities every time the session means every time it gets together, it's the budget and it's education. Now this year, you can throw a pandemic relief in there as well. But the budget is going to be a task, you know, and it's a huge state 254 counties, all of the ground that Texas has to cover, so That'll be the big talk with topic as we go along, and the date beat one yesterday. One of the first things, he said, is let's lead by example, and let's work together. Now That's easier said than done, But that's the goal of the House speaker's. We move forward with the budget and with the other issues they're going to face. One other issue that they're talking about is to make the alcohol delivery bill permanent, so restaurants I guess can deliver alcohol to their customers, and that would really, really help him out financially. Yeah, yeah, The margaritas to go is kind of the plant is being used for this particular bill and feeling the dress that bill yesterday of all issues that the Legislature is going to take up. That was one that he mentioned in his opening speech was that margaritas to go? There seems to be a lot of moment. Um, around this. The thought about it is not to get people their margaritas more easy, but to make things more easy for Businesses to give them another source of revenue because we know that a lot of businesses and restaurants right now have limited capacity. Well, all of them have limited capacity. So filling alcohol to go is away where they can make some of that money up. Not all of it by any means. But that's the overall thought behind this is that this financially would help businesses. I talked to a couple lawmakers behind this last week if they said You know what you hear alcohol to go. You think over container and drinking and driving? Well, how does that work? Well, it doesn't violate any of that. The containers are closed. It's not like people are drinking it in their car. Well, they're not legally supposed to drink it in their car. It just allows people that get the margaritas get the tequila, whatever alcohol they want. Take it in small bottles and bring it home. So restaurants were able to do that and make a little bit more money. It seems like this bill has a lot of positive response. Alright, thanks very much. Very informative. Great Report.
