"I love it. All right, thanks for that. That's pretty factual from what I understand. Thanks for setting this. Jimmy. Before I go, the Kurt Warner, Ryan Tannehill. So tanny hill says not my job, right? Okay, that's cool. Kurt Warner says, no, I'm here to help everybody. Paper or plastic, right? Yes, right. But I learned that Kurt Warner would hold the elevator door for me. That's what I love. That she would because he's a nice guy and I'm an a hole when it comes to that. You guys are the best. Thanks, Jimmy. Everybody's well and brockman hook things are cool. I think so much thanks, Jimmy. That's a good call. Guys, be careful, Jimmy's watching. If we had a color Hall of Fame. I mean, he's up for nomination for sure. Called it to TJ Jefferson Daniels. What a great day. He spent it by playing ping Pong and eating popcorn. You know what? I spent the day doing. But, okay, so if only, by the way, if only Jimmy had spent it going somewhere on one of his two motorcycles. Out of in a much better way to spend. DJ Jefferson. You know, I live in ply here. We had two power outages within three hours of each other right at the beginning of the second quarter of the sixers game. Oh man, you didn't miss anything. You didn't miss anything. By the way, couldn't get out of my garage because there's no power. I had to call an Uber. I went to yard house to go watch the game by the time I got there, they were already down like 17. I could have stayed at home. What a sad tale. I need you to have been eaten popcorn. Terry fondle, the GM of the falcons coming up. Get an inside look at Hollywood with Michael Rosenbaum. Let's get inside of Mark Paul gosselaar. How hard was it by the way working on a series like NYPD blue? Glad I'm not like walking onto a show that like that now because with all social media and everyone has an opinion and a really 2000, there was one guy with a blog. I just remember reading that I was going to bring the franchise down. I was horrible. And by the way, I thought they were right. Inside of you with Michael Rosenbaum. "You'd like that? If the calls are correct. Like right now, if we're all watching a game sometimes there's a collective grown at the bar or in the crowd because everybody watching had it as a strike or a ball, but the umpire had it off. If we changed the robot and we still had those collective drones nonstop and it wasn't, it didn't feel better. The technology didn't get us in a better place. I would say it's not worth it. But I think it can get there. A lot of leagues and sports use this technology of ball tracking. So yeah, it would need to just feel good. Everyone really needs to kind of say like, no, I trust it. That's right. And then you heard Joe west said that angel Hernandez told him that that disastrous night behind home plate where everybody hated him and the whole country was chiming in and Kyle schwarber and his reaction was giving everybody who was watching the ability to feel like they were venting with him that baseball thought he was damn near perfect that night. Is that what you just said? Yeah. So I can find, I don't know who originally had the article I wish I could quote them. But Joe west is making the rounds now because he's retired. And he's got his podcast. Every Sunday Night, so he's going on a lot of shows. He's got a lot of cool stories to share. And he said that it was great at 96% from MLB. On a podcast, he went on. I'm trying to search. I don't want to shout someone out. 6 70 to score. Home plate angel. Grand as Joe west went on there, said he asked angels. How did they what was your score? And you got a 96% and Joe west said they need to sink the strike zone that they're grading the umpires on with the public perception of the strike zone. So I'm really interested to see if there is a disagreement there. Yeah. If the box box is putting on the screen is different. Then what MLB is grading the amps on. But that's a pretty. Of course. Look, if they're grading the umps on a certain box and then the box that the national TV partners and then of course the local TV partners are all using and we're all saying these people suck and baseball's like way to go. That's one thing. But the players are the ones who were flipping out. Your breakdown John boy of it with the lip reading of Girardi and schwarber and everything was terrific. I mean, that's the problem. Forget about the disconnect with the fans, which is significant, but if there's still a disconnect with those who are actually competing, that's out of that's nuts. That's crazy. Yes, I agree. I don't know if that's the case. But I'm interested because we've heard just people talk about how they want the strikes on to go back to being wider instead of taller and skinny. And I don't know. Okay. Maybe the umpires said, yeah, we want that to go back as well. But they call based on the scores they get. And that information isn't public to us. We have third party and Twitter accounts that do their own grading system on a different strikes on apparently. So it just needs to be more transparency. If the umpires are getting graded by MLB after each game, let us know because then let us know what the parameters of that grading system are. So we as a viewer and players understand what they have to be looking for when it comes to the pitches. Before I let you go on with your day and we get to your news just a couple of minutes here because you and John boy media see more baseball maybe than everybody else combined. Is there something up with the baseball? Are you noticing something with the baseball? Is it deadened? Do we have a dead ball? But I believe they've admitted that that is that is the case. They said going into the they said going into the 2021 season last year that they wanted to have a tighter or a looser, whatever makes it fly less baseball. But because of shipping and quarantine and all that and logistics going down, we had a mixed bag of baseball. So some games had the juice ball and some games have the new ball because production stopped. And they said this year, the plan was to be the Paul that flies less. So I believe MLB is has been open about that. But yes, we did change the ball. Okay. Is that why the Yankees pitching looks so damn good? Or what do you think? Because to me, that's the number one surprise of the season so far. They're all working on new pitches, nonstop, and I like what Matt Blake's been doing, like every picture last year started throwing a change up in every picture this year is throwing a cutter and they're working well, but we definitely have the two juice ball years, 2017 and 2019 and this is from Alex Chamberlain on Twitter. Home runs that were barrel to straight away. We're home runs 46% of the time in 2017 and 45% of the time in 2019 and we're down to 26%. This year. That is significant. That's a large number. Okay, congratulations, John boy on the news that you have today. I'll just give you the floor to share it with my viewing and listening audience here. Yeah, thank you very much. We were seeking another round of funding so we can kind of go to that next level as a company and build the infrastructure and the management and searching for CEO and we closed around the funding at $5 million from collection of investors and the leader of the round was connect ventures, which is CAA and NEA joint system. So through them, we got some players and some really popular people to come in and be part of it that we hope to utilize and believe that I'll add value. And it allows us to take a couple more chances, not need everything to be an instant success and dream a little bigger. So we're super excited. And then it's not just going to be for baseball too, right? You're going to do this for all. Yeah, we'll be in a try. We don't have any single sport that we're putting on the map and saying, we'd need to cover this. I'm more thinking about it as finding people that we think have the same kind of attitude about making things and fun for what they're doing. And whatever they cover, then let's add them to the mix. But keeping the same tone and brand of everything we've done is main priority as we look to add more people. Yeah, I'm looking at the names here. Billy Crystal, Josh hader, Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade, Carl Anthony towns. You had no cinder guard, CC Sabathia. Those are some pretty interesting names that are put in their hard earned American dollars on John boy media..

"And then I'm taking over a job that it wasn't broken. There was a lot of really good things that have been done here over the last 16 years and a great culture has been built and I'm just trying to really kind of keep that going and put my own little tweaks on it as we go along. Right and then this team had a chance to make the playoffs last year if results in week 18, which I still have to get used to saying had worked out Denis Allen here on the rich eisen show. How is Jameis doing? How does he look? We saw some video of him having somebody try to slap the ball out of his hands while trying to his footwork look terrific. What do you think? Yeah, look, I think he's doing well in the rehab process. One of the things you know about Jameis is Jameis is probably one of the hardest workers that I've been around. He's just got a tireless work ethic and he loves football and that's his life like he does everything is all about ball to him and so he's working his tail off and really doing a really good job in the rehab and I like where he's at. And so is he your week one started? Do you think he's going to be healthy enough to start week one, Dennis? Well, certainly that's certainly the plan. Right. And there's a lot of days between now and week one, but we certainly like where he's at right now. We like the progress that he's making. Matt I really loved a lot of the things that he did last year for 14 touchdowns. So we're interceptions. I mean, there was just some really good stuff that you see and my vision and my hope is that he continues to progress on the same level as he gets another year in the system. And then, you know, we always talk about what teams have added and we'll get to your draft in a second. Very rarely can you add somebody of the caliber of Michael Thomas, but it looks like that is technically what we keep talking about everything going on with your team, but forget that can't guard Mike is coming back, right? So it's possible we see Winston to Thomas in week one of the saints season. Yeah, that would, again, that would be our hope. We feel good about what Mike's done in the rehab process. There's still a few hurdles that we got to that we got to climb with any of our guys that had any injuries that they're trying to get back from. But I kind of look at it in terms of we drafted Chris olave in the first round, but I almost look at it is getting Mike back. It's almost like we had two first round draft choices at wide receivers. So I feel really good about that. He must have been really happy about you guys trading up for a lot of in the same way that I guess Maclaurin was upset that the Washington traded down and let you go get a lava. I'm sure. Yeah, yeah, look, it was certainly we felt like we needed to add some playmakers to our offense. We felt like that was an area that we could improve our football team and we're really all about we're really all about just what do we got to do to win games here and so I felt like he was the player that we kind of targeted that we knew we were going to get.

"The saints defense came into that game on fire, like red hot, the saints defense was the fourth in EPA per play allowed the first 7 weeks third in defense of efficiency. But there was this stretch over the first 7 weeks where New Orleans played like Sam darnold and Mac Jones in his third start and Daniel Jones and Taylor Heineken and Geno Smith. So there were some question marks to was the defense as legit as some of the metrics indicated. Week 8 comes and New Orleans wins 37 28. Everything looks great. Dennis Allen did it again. There was a difference though. Tampa Bay averaged 7.3 yards per play, had a 50% success rate, had 8 explosives. They did it with Gronk only playing 6 snaps. He's obviously fully healthy right now. Tampa Bay lost because they were minus three and turnover differential. The saints had a defensive score, another touchdown that only needed to go 35 yards. Tampa was penalized 11 times to boot in that game. So it was a very fortunate win in my mind for the saints and we started to see Tom Brady with an offense that now has full blown chemistry. It's not the very first game all these guys have played together in a COVID shortened season. It's like now year two, we're all familiar with each other. We all know what we want to run offensive coordinator and quarterback or on the same page. It's just vastly different and suddenly we saw the buck surge a little bit metrically. So it makes me nervous if I were thinking of taking the points with New Orleans here is that Tampa's offense figure Dennis Allen's defense out just a little bit and the difference also here is the saints come into this game trending dramatically different than when they played the first time in week 8. That's when the saints were top 5 defense heading into the first meeting. But now all of a sudden you look from weeks 9 to 13, the saints are 21st and EPA per play allowed. 27th and EPA per pass loud. Maybe manhandling the jets offense, which is bottom 5 in the NFL without its two top pass catching options. Bring some confidence back. Kim Jordan returning would obviously be huge. He sent out a cryptic social media post, which would indicate he'll come off the big C list and play. Chauncey Gardner returned to practice in a limited fashion on Wednesday, let's monitor that situation. He is the saints slot corner. And that area of the past defense has not been as good with him out. I came into this game thinking like there could be some value on New Orleans here. Number look to touch high. New Orleans obviously needs the game more than Tampa although Tampa isn't throwing it away, right? They're fighting for a number one seed in a buy. But then I looked at our numbers and I was like, nope. Mid Tampa -9.3 and a neutral give the Buccaneers a point and a half for home field. And then I left my handicapping thinking like boy, like champagne is going to have to be a miracle worker on offense. Hope there's fatigue from the bucks defense. And then somehow Dennis Allen finds the magic dust in the saint's defense returns to the early season form. But everything I just mentioned has to happen in conjunction here for the saints to cover. Now, I have seen a little saints money come in, right? Open like 11 and a half, we're now down to ten and a half. That's kind of where I'm at right 9.3 at another one and a half there. Puts me at what's the monkey math and that 10.8, we just talked to John and he's at 10.1. There's not a ton of value here in this number, but I envision going into this looking at the number. There's going to be some value in the same thing. It just wasn't the case. It's too interesting teams. I mean, New Orleans has had to go through quite a bit. I mean, they were able to end that long losing streak to your point against a much beleaguered jets team. So I'm not sure what you can really take away from it. We'll see what they can point game head into the fourth. Yeah, it was. And they never even felt that close with Zach Wilson struggling mightily to do much of anything on the offensive side ten 6. I think at the half or thereabouts. We'll see what we get from Tampa and the wake of taking their foot off the gas against buffalo letting the bills back into it. I'm not sure against the divisional foe if they're able to build a two score lead and make New Orleans one dimensional. The saints are a team that you have a lot of hope and optimism that they can come crashing in through the back door. For the second straight week, Sunday Night football has showcases a game where we're going to have a double digit spread. And you know what? We could be headed towards a trio of Sunday Night football games with the cowboys against the Washington football team on deck next Sunday. 5 games broken down as eloquently as we possibly can want to thank John Sheeran for his contributions each and every week on this very show. And since I've been remiss in telling people.

"The NFL action. It's Thursday night on the NFL network when the Denver Broncos beat the New York Jets. Of course, you can also hear Thursday night football each week, right here on Westwood one, beginning at eight Eastern on many of these same stations. I'm gonna bump at the floor. I'm gonna stay in 12 personnel and keep running the cut Boot they have uncovered yet and they are moving the football here methodically as we have wound down inside of 10 minutes remaining, and what has been a spectacular game here on Sunday night Football on Westwood War. Second seven. Rogers from the gun pressure coming, riders get rid of it. Just before he was hit to the ground. By Malcolm Jake. It's that's outstanding. D A Dennis Allen, defence coordinator for the New Orleans Saints, does a great job of picking his timing what he wants to bring Malcolm Jenkins. Malcolm Geniuses hit multiple quarterbacks already this year, multiple tackles the loss already this year, he stopped a way to using. We've called his name a lot. Malcolm Jenkins has been disrupted tonight. Now third down and seven. They are in field goal range here 33 yard line. Play clock three. Rogers takes the snap. One barely got it off throws to the right. It's caught thereby Stern burger, but he's gonna be dropped at the 30. Five yards shy of the line the game they brought pressure from the right side. Malcolm Jenkins is sitting in the big gap in between the guard and the center. He drops out on Alan Lazard, so he doesn't have the little hot route. He has to hold it. Throw that ball to the tight end on the outside. Not getting the first Mason Crosby has made from 52 33. This is gonna be from 49 yards from the right hash. For the 14 year. Veteran kick is on the way and Crosby got it. Make it three for three on that puts Green Bay back in front 32 27. 8 47 remaining you're listing to Sunday night football on Westwood War. Indeed knows it for any business. The most important step is the next one. Like hiring someone who could make a real impact, indeed helps you find high impact hires fast without any long term contracts..

"Last year. The hot trend in hiring head coaches was Anyone who has ever had a conversation with Sean mcvay SOW I. You and I didn't get called. Do you think that's going to happen again this year. I mean you mentioned solid. It seems like actually. We're hearing some defensive names Dennis Allen the coordinator in New Orleans Ron Rivera who was fired. It is likely maybe that will see a different trend in two thousand twenty. It's possible you do hear a lot of defensive names but you know I feel like I read the same column every year on. Uh which is you should not be looking for. Do we want an offensive guy or a defense got. You should be looking for. Do we want a leader. You you know once upon a time the Baltimore Ravens hired the special teams coordinator from Philadelphia. Eagles John Harbach. He's still the coach and not only is still the coach but he's winning games in different ways than he ever wanted them before because he has the ability to run the building and and and he can establish the vision and be the leader eater and be the delegator that makes it all work. And I think that gets lost a lot of the time when people start talking about. Do we often do. We want a decent guy. Do we want a young guy do. Do we want a guy who's done it before you need to have somebody who has that leadership ability inside of them and when you hit on that that's when you have both Dan in all of your years covering the coaching carousel and black Monday. How has it changed? What is different now from say a decade ago? Nothing I mean like to same stuff right like north coordinators. Do we need to make a move because the fans are upset or we're just bored word with this guy or like he's offense. We need defense. These young and we need old. He's players coach. And we need a A tale kicker. You know like I. I don't know I it's I just I think teams are doing it the same way. It varies year to year in terms of physics but in terms of a process. No I think it's I don't think it's evolved. I think that's it's kind of a story that that's probably worth pursuing and writing is is the teams are still doing it the same way they did ten years ago and maybe longer..

"I I wanna ask you. Are you a shock as I am to see this miracle story that is the New England Patriots for them to overcome all the obstacles in their path to do it. No one could possibly have believed and find themselves in the AFC championship game. Right. Hey, they have everybody rate where they want them because they're an underdog second time in seventy one games. And it was the team that there's no buzz about them. There's no this is their year. There's no narrative which means Bill Belichick is playing his hand perfectly. It's the first time I believe in sixty eight games that they've been the underdog, and they're they're three point underdogs on the road. So essentially, it's a pickup and game. It's pretty hilarious. But I do think Siegman there's been a little bit of an over correction from some of the sports media who like I joke about the the patriots being an underdog and all that. But there were plenty of people picking the chargers on public platforms, though. The patriots were the the Vegas betting favorites. I I think the way they handled the chargers. Puts on people's faces. Yeah. Well, you go ahead. I think that some of the is maybe we want to see somebody else. Sure Super Bowl in the AFC, and maybe people wager or predict things that more along the lines of what they want then what they soberly would predict. But also, I think we are often making our predictions based on an average of what we saw in the regular season and the patriots vulnerable team many times in the regular season. But in the playoffs coaching and that one off game plan becomes so much more important and Bill bell got a black belt in one off game plan. No doubt about that. I mean, you saw it masterfully executed against against the chargers to my point though. I think the over correction has gone a little bit too far because I picked the patriots last week. I bet on the patriots. They were at home off a bye against a team. I didn't really believe in having not seen that that team do it. But now, I'm picking against them. Because I think some of that what you just mentioned those vulnerabilities. It's not like they were real. I think Kansas City's defense is. Getting healthier. I think Mahomes is a whole different level from what they saw a week ago despite Philip rivers credentials, and they got a guy who can game plan himself at head coach. So despite the fact that they went out and prove some of those people wrong last week. I actually I do like Kansas City this week. I I'd like Kansas City too. I do think that the defense as far as unit last weekend that outperformed expectations that was the chiefs defense in some thought that was a weakness that was the achilles heel of this team. And they shut down Andrew luck and the colts. So they're going to need to show up at home. I now they're gonna have to stop the patriots running game. But I think that the chiefs are going to win this weekend because Patrick Mahomes has that mythological sword from the stone vibe around him and the team has seems supremely calm and all the history of Andy Reid and all the history of Kansas City in the playoffs. It doesn't matter. It seems like he's impervious. To these things, and we can go back to the fourth and nine play against Baltimore. We can go back to some of the place, even though they didn't beat the patriots beat the Rams in those games. Patrick Mahomes was the reason they were in those games. And and the team seems to take on his personality, which is something really good at this time of year when emotions can cause players to lose it to joke and crunch time. Robert Limerick talking to Sigmund, boom, Cohen or football guys dot com here on CBS sports radio. Let's let's go to the other game for a second. Because to me, I'm a little bit less definitive in who. I'm picking it. You know, I can never be fully definitive picking against the patriots. But I was up in the air the Rams and the saints game. What's your initial instinct there, what do you think's going to be the difference there? Well, the Rams so this game was forty five thirty five when they faced earlier this year, I'm in New Orleans, and this is gonna be a very different game than that game. Which also happened in New Orleans because the Rams running game right now is the strongest force in the. Playoffs. The Cowboys who had a defense. What's what's considered a strength of the team were powerless to slow them down last week? And the saints are missing Sheldon rankings and their run defense performed a lot less effectively without him. And I think Sean McVeigh even though he's young and innovative also understands old school football. Which is we're gonna keep doing this until you show us, you can stop us and saints were over competent last week, and they were lucky to escape with a win. So this is going to be even you know, the eagles had some distinct weaknesses on defense and Nick foles, even though he's got the playoff or around him. Isn't exactly a quarterback that I you know, this is going to elevate his game and make himself impossible to stop. So I I hate to say this being in New Orleans. I feel like a voodoo curse gonna come down on me. But I think that the Rams are gonna come in here and do this unless Dennis Allen dares jock hair got path. And I think you're gonna. See based on the defensive alignment, whether they put eight or nine in the box and try to slow down the run game from the get-go or they honor the pass prowess of the Rams that they showed all year and allow them to do what they did to the Cowboys last week. I think that announces a spot on. I dare Jared Goff the pass because I I'd be seriously concerned about the absence of rankings as well. But. I'm not scared of golf. I wonder if Gough is much more of a a product of of what may McVay does. So the the feeling for me for New Orleans would be all right? If I'm struggling a little bit am I choosing drew Brees or am I choosing Jared Goff? Yeah. And I think that this point, and you think of it in these terms and Bill Belichick against the master of this is you can't try something to see if it's going to work, and then do that or do the opposite of that. What you choose from the outside of the game is going to determine your fate. So the saints need to be aggressive. India -ticipant the Rams game plan instead of if they fall down fourteen to the Rams like they did to the eagles. It's gonna be a different outcome. And the other thing is just this is coaching and preparation they can't come in with their gloves down like they did last week. Hopefully last week will get them ready. Mentally emotionally, psychologically for the fight of their lives. What do you think is the most interesting Super Bowl matchup? Chiefs Rams just because you have this chief team that has been in the desert in the playoffs for so long and really Patrick Mahomes. Is that transformational figure, and then you have your other transformational figure, Sean McVay, and the Rams have been in the desert, and you have the Missouri connection and things like that. But you you I think Patrick Mahomes, and Sean McVay represent what's coming. What's here in the NFL? And while the saints in the Peyton brief saints and what Brady Belichick patriots are true to the all time. Great teams that we've gotten to enjoy for fifteen years more and more in the case of the patriots. I like the idea of a new champion crowned. Yeah. I don't want to hear about the patriots for two weeks. I'm sure about that. I've heard all there is to be actually. No, I thought I had heard everything about the patriots until I heard they were, you know, the this heart warming underdog story. I thought I had heard up until that point. The other thing is that with with the patriots. Again, the people want to see that perhaps the patriots SuperBowl could be interesting because again, everybody gets to align and root against the patriots. But I, you know, at this point actually think McVeigh's another good example, here coaches are catching up Doug Peterson. He's not in the playoff. Now did it last year? And and they're learning from Bella check or following that lead of that one off game plan, and we'll see whether Sean McVeigh has that any tomorrow. Appreciate the time segment. Thank you. Always. "How though I know that I've played in a couple of them and I played in a dome throughout my career. So watch the fatigue factor. You talked about Sheldon Rankin. What about that rotation of the saints that down one pry one of their primary defensive lineman? So that rotation I'm throwing a ball early. But I'm Wayne how? And later on it's going to be hot in that building. I was in the super dome when the saints played the Vikings the last time they matched up an NFC championship the humidity in that game. Brett farve game. We threw interception padding home style going cross gives body so there can be fatigue factor playing in a dome late in the season. You're down in numbers. We know Sheldon rank is going to be missed. So how do they what is what is what is Dennis Allen do defensive coordinator to put that extra guy into the rotation? And the impact I believe Teague wise can be to the Rams advantage. If they come out and hit some of those passes early, and I've got a fifteen to hear some of the defensive lineman talk about children rankings effect from a communication standpoint. How he helped guys in terms of shifting the defensive line back and forth and eating up the offense of lime and taking off the the linebackers that part's going to be as well something said earlier it's hard to throw on third down in a dome. Why so loud, that's when the crowd? He's been there already. Going to be loud throughout but they are going to be this allow this the saints fans have ever ever been what time the game start? "Tackle Sheldon rankings. You've got and you saw Watson outright as you mentioned right with appendicitis. So I think this is a very tough game to pick. But I believe that in the end the saints experience will be the difference may. Even though Sean McVay, obviously, you know, coaches far beyond his years. I think I give the nod to Payton in Brees. Well, and this one is difficult for me because I was in on the Rams and the preseason. So like my mind wants to say that the Rams are gonna win this game. The closer I get to the harder. It is for me to see a Pat to win in New Orleans. I mean, there is sort of homefield advantage has proven to be everything in the playoffs for the last several years. I don't know why this is going to be different now showing rankings is I think the most significant injury here because if it allows the Rams to control the ball at all running the football that's going to be massive. And that's part of it that I continue to look at. And and I want to find a way to justify the Rams winning. This game is hard for me. I say, I'm just I'm still going back and forth. I'm going to take the Rams taking the Rams I'm taking the ramp to win this game in. I don't know. If I don't know if I'm speaking with my bias of my preseason hope or if I'm speaking with my head on this. I just feel like especially we. Haven't seen a lot of Todd Gurley. Now part of that was because C J Anderson is played so well part of that's because tug Hurley's been injured. I think the CJ Anderson's giving them a little more time to get healthy. And if girly gets going in this game man as good as Dennis Allen has been in coordinating the defense for the saints. I don't know how they'll stop it. So I'm gonna go Rams. And you know, there's always stats that will tell you this story you wanna hear right, right? One two punch girly and C J Anderson. You can look at anything that they've been doing and tell yourself that's going to be too tough to stop. But I give you back that stat that I mentioned earlier that the saints defense sense that week nine win has allowed five points per game after halftime. So this is a game that presumably the Rams would have to get up early and hold on. Because it's not likely that the saints are going to let down in that second half. We saw even against the eagles. Saints started off a little slow. And then they poured it on offense and really shutdown the eagles defensively. So that's going to be a tight when I'm going saints. You're going Rams. So we move on. To the next one. This could be even tougher to pick. In fact, I think it is my brain tells me chiefs because I think they're a better team. I think the patriot or patriots aren't as good on the road, but my heart and my gut says hi gonna pick against Brady and Bella chick. You just did this last week, and they demolished the chargers and made you look silly. And I keep coming back to the difference between the the patriots on the road at home. And I know it's the postseason, and I know things amp up in a way that other teams can't seem to react to for the patriots. Once it hits a playoffs. But the stats about them on the road versus home are enough to make me say this and it feels like Mahomes year..

"Dennis Allen has got to have a good plan for a what is been a really really good running game of the Rams because the Rams look everybody thinks that Sean McVeigh is some master fill the air with football's guy. But I think he might try to run it down the saints throat in part because the saints defense is is a lesser defense without rankings and in part as an attempt to try to take the crowd out of this game, Colin I've covered the NFL for thirty five years. I can't say that I've ever heard of crowd louder than when I was in the stadium in the Superdome last week. They're down fourteen nothing to Philadelphia. And that crowd is still almost at full throat. The next time the eagles touch the ball. So I think that could be an issue for the Rams. That's why the saints are favored, let's move over to the AFC. I think Chris Jones is he becomes. A problem to block for the patriots. Will know it very early in all five of the patriots road losses. They didn't lead any of them in the first quarter in fact, trailed in four of five generally, they're not out-schemed. There's a physical component. They don't match up against they didn't match up with Tennessee's defensive front. They didn't have Josh Gordon. They struggled against the Steelers. So when they've struggled on the road you've noticed very early. It's not like they've blown leads. So I kind of think Chris Jones will have a major impact if he is making they have to double him and it stalls the running game Tom's in trouble. Who do you think plays a crucial role for the chiefs or patriots this weekend? Just in Houston. Remember in week six when the patriots chiefs played the patriots put up forty three points went up and down the field five hundred yard total yards or whatever was and what I really remember about that game. Is that Brady had a lot of time and to me just in Houston. He wrecked. Andrew luck in the second half of that game tweak. Yep. So when when you when you've got deformed here just in Houston here Chris Jones in the middle. That's really really tough to handle. And to me, Josh mcdaniels biggest challenge is keeping Tom Brady relatively clean. So he's going to have enough time. But just remember this I say that about those three guys. But I think the I think the the chiefs are going to have something up their sleeve so that James white doesn't wreck the defensive game plan because just. Look last week. Fifteen catches James white has been a gigantic force for the patriots in all their recent playoff games. So the patriots lean on him when they desperately need. An outlet back out of the backfield. By the way, it's hard enough to win in the road. Patrick Mahomes is the league MVP mental. He's your MVP choice..

"Our? Welcome to the Bill Barnwell shell. I'm Bill Barnwell ESPN. We are here, and it is conference championship preview. Hot cast. I was gonna to weaken there somewhere. I didn't know where it was going to go in the middle of that statement. But it is a week and champions are coming up. We're going to preview them here on the show today. A little later on you're going to have field Yates coming on to preview the AFC championship game between the patriots and chiefs. But starting I frequent contributor to the show much beloved guest. Among our listeners. It is ESPN's Dan Gazi on a preview the NFC championship game. Dan. How are you? Okay. Tastic village long dream of mine to open for field Yates. This is your chance. I I think if I self more as sort of the the tech guy for both of yellow and setting up your Qatar. So you can both play. I'm the root here on the radio on this tour. Excellent hair. I wonder if he'll knows how to play guitar. I don't know how to play guitar, but maybe he does I feel like find out later. Yeah. I'll ask him later if he knows how to play guitar, do you wanna bet you feel like he what would you set the odds at that feel the it's knows how to play guitar. I don't I would think doesn't does not. I'm curious. Yeah. I don't know. I just doesn't seem like don't know man of many talents. So sometimes people surprise you. I'll tell you as a man of many talents. That is Sean Payton of the New Orleans. I'm going to start this conversation by talking about something sort of related to the NFC championship game. But not exactly and we talk a lot about coaches with you on the show every year. We do our our draft of coaches are hot seat draft. And this year, we had h eight coaches lose their jobs by the end of the year, in some cases. Fortunately, I guess for the fans some cases, unfortunately, but what I found really interesting in thinking about this coaching processes this. So of. We all know everyone wanted to get Sean McVeigh someone who looked like Sean McVeigh someone who is vaguely Frente, Sean McVeigh, everyone knows that we don't have to get into that. But. On the other side of this game. They were Sean Payton who has been an excellent head coach for a long time. Run a great a great team. Specifically a great offense. They worked very well with different offensive players. That's always been drew Brees. But plenty of ofensive personnel. Have come and gone over that timeframe. Is it weird that Pete Carmichael? It's been the offensive coordinator for this team for a long time. Now seven or eight years if I'm not mistaken called plays on and off. There hasn't been any interest in him really as head coaching candidate the same with Dan Campbell. Who got a couple of interviews this year after being the dolphins interim coach and he's on the staff of the saints. Dennis Allen who improve this defense dramatically over the past couple of years. Are you surprised there hasn't been more interest in the saints staff or head coaching opportunities? There isn't much about this head coaching cycle that fail to surprise me. I think it's the whole thing has been very weird from the start. You mentioned the McVeigh obsession to the to the point where the cardinals put on their press release about cliff Kingsbury that he was friends with Sean fail. No professional connection. But that line is actually in their Presley, which is insane. But everybody just wants everybody to know that there's that they're some kind of McVay, and it's always good to be. I cannot..

"The continuity offensive line is huge, and you could put so much of your trust in that group because they've worked together so well and for so long, and I do agree recruits to it's not like, they're secondary is has been impressive. They've struggled throughout the course of the year. So if you can attack them effectively, which most people have been able to. It's a great approach. This is where the offense in the league that's gotten the most headlines the high scoring offense the chiefs. But if not for the chiefs, the Rams would be the number one off into cross the board. I mean their second point second in yards third in rushing fifth in passing fit like they. And when everything their second, it's to Kansas City. This Rams offense. I know that in the playoff game. It was all running Jared Goff was basically a caretaker. They have been a prolific offense in every way, shape and form a huge part of that has been the play action pass game because people are afraid of Todd Gurley. They ran play action on more than fifty percent of their pass attempts in the first playoff game. I think that's a huge part of this weekend. And people say, oh, he's a wide receiver. He wants to throw the ball. I really believe that's the best way to attack. And also you have to realize when you're playing in that type of environment. We'll talk about the the the weather in Kansas City. But I don't think people are going to mention plan in dome, and you plan NFC championship those domes get hotter.
