"With Christmas approaching New Jersey Governor Murphy is urging residents not to travel out of state unless they have to as K bar double use. Mike DiNardo reports the state is working to slow the second wave of coronavirus 70. Murphy's top health officials say it's too soon to know whether Thanksgiving caused a covert surge. But he said said people people in in New New Jersey Jersey should should not not travel travel out out of of state state unless unless it's it's essential, essential, he he said said commuting commuting to to Pennsylvania Pennsylvania or or Delaware Delaware is is allowed. allowed. The The spirit spirit of of this this is is You're You're going going for for a a reason reason that's real and you're in and out the same day. Grinch Times. Five. Don't TRAVEL, You gotta stay six weeks away from Santa Saying there's gonna wear a face covering, you gotta wear face covering when you have your dinner at home and make sure it's single digits. All that's thinks, but unfortunately, that's the reality we're in. Murphy says Thanksgiving spike in cases could lead him to tighten the state's restrictions. Like Denard. "Coronavirus Task Force made their first remarks to reporters since July. His cases and deaths continue to climb across the country. But they took no questions. Now the country just past the grim milestone of covert deaths, which have surpassed 250,000 people that's higher than the population of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and with winter in the holidays rapidly approaching, Vice President Mike Mike Pence, Pence, says says that that the the military military is is ready ready to to go go with with 100 100 million million vaccine vaccine kits kits and and Americans Americans will will be be getting getting the the vaccine vaccine within within 48 48 hours hours of of FDA FDA approval. approval. The The moment moment that that the the FDA FDA concludes concludes That That that that vaccine is safe and effective. We have a system in place to begin within 24 hours, shipping that vaccines to hospitals, health care facilities and 24 hours after that, literally injecting That vaccine into Americans. Crowds gather in streets of Philadelphia after Joe Biden elected president
"Yeah, J. I've been out here outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center at 12th and Arch, and there were several 100 people, uh, binding supporters out here. And then all of a sudden, um other supporters were coming up our street. Hundreds and hundreds there Well over 1000 people here now, But I was asking there was a steady stream of like where you come from. They're like they were over at independents model, So they've been marching around the city and they heard the music and they came on by this way. So wait have a massive celebration here outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center 12 Denard streets. There are just a few, uh, in comparison of Trump supporters here, they're being kept behind barriers and The police are keeping a watchful eye on things, J Just one more thing, John. Just so I keep asking this question in terms of I'm not sure if there is any social distancing, but how many master you seeing out there? I would say the majority of people are social did well, they can't really social distance but they are wearing masks. I mean, these people are on top of one another. You know, you're not 6 ft apart, but a couple blocks away. You see, like families and people walking dogs and just kind of looking to the direction of where all the people are. Just saying we're not going in there, but they want to be here to Alise E this celebration for themselves and people in the middle of the celebration. You know the throwing confetti. One woman just took a little while goes to the bottle of champagne up and douse the crowd with it. So there it's the seven of celebratory. Moved here on DH again. Ah lot of police keeping a watchful eye on things but social distancing not so much mask wearing almost off.
Less than a third of eligible Philadelphia students have opted to return to school
"To the city health commissioner says Even with Corona virus Case count's rising, he believes it's worth it for Children to go back to in person classes at the end of the month. The story from Kevin Abuse Mike Denardo. The risk in sending Children back into school buildings is not zero, said City Health Commissioner Dr Thomas Farley. But he said, if students wear masks and keep social distancing, it is a risk worth taking. We believe that risk can be minimized. The correct safety precautions and we do think that the value of in person education, especially for young Children, important is so important that it justifies doing that. Farley made his comments at an online press briefing with school Superintendent William Height, The school district is still planning for students in pre K through second grade to return to in person instruction two days a week starting November. 30th if they opt in height, says about a third of 32,000 eligible students have chosen to return to hybrid classes in school buildings. With case count's growing, Farley said he may recommend all virtual classes at some point, but that point is not now and he said that in the eight months of the pandemic know Philadelphia Children have died from the virus, but seven have died from gun violence. Philadelphia schools trying to figure out how to reopen
"A summer ends. The pandemic continues and school systems trying to figure out when and how do we open or not? From Philadelphia Kyi W's Mike Denard, Billy Schools are online until at least mid November. When it comes to a possible transition to some in person instruction. Superintendent William Height says the school district is taking its cues primarily from the city Health department. But he says Philadelphia is also watching the experience of suburban districts with hybrid openings and area Catholic and charter schools that have in person learning about the
The Evolution of AI Chips and Their Business Impact - with Dr. Gregory Diamos
"So. Brag. I want to kick things off by talking about this theme of a I chips kind of term being thrown around now around software serve built to purpose for ai he gives a bit of a background on what they are and maybe even where they're starting to move forward today. Sure. So if we look historically on ships, there's a few trends that are really important One really powerful tragedy in computing has just been personal computing and especially driven by the C language. So in in the past, actually, you'll probably aware everybody these days has personal computers interact with computers. They're probably aware that computers have gotten substantially faster. Since they were introduced. If we look back fifty years, the speed of computers for the types of applications that we know in love the. Power personal computers and power the Internet have gotten tremendously faster. So can actually measure this. there's a trend around. Around nineteen eighty driven by DISA-, Group of people who are early founders and early manufacturers computers. To try to quantify the speed of computers, one of the things that they developed at that time was called the stack benchmark, and this is a way of determining really objective. How fast is your computer? Suspect started around. One, thousand, nine, hundred, five, a little bit early though not a really danced around nineteen, ninety five. and. This was a metric that. Anybody was producing a computer You could runs back on it and it would give you an idea of how fast it was. So, if we look at stock performance going around nineteen, hundred, five, about two, thousand, ten, it increased basically exponentially over that thirty year run I'm so we saw this enormous over a thousand times improvement in the speed of those computers. From around nine, hundred, eighty, five, two, thousand, ten. So for for various reasons, actually after that it's it's still been increasing, but it's slowed down a little bit. So we have been seeing the same. Performance increases out of our personal computers out of our phones out of the computers that are powering are our data centers. As we have in the past. So the the modern view, those those machines like the current name that we usually call them in industry is is called a CPU. CPU sometimes dance for Central Processing Unit really I think about it as a as a computer that's designed to run a specific type of application like an in particular it's designed to run kinds of applications that we build an in languages like C or or Java, or. Running on operating systems like windows or Android or us. So those computers in those chips are powering quite a lot of the workloads, quite a lot of the applications or the the computing technologies that have been transformative in personal computing in in smartphones in in in data centers. And they're connected the world through the Internet. So, ai chips are actually something different. And There's actually a convergence of maybe two forces here. That are driving this and one is the the forest I just mentioned that. You. Know as we look at the existing designs. For various reasons sometimes people one of the reasons people often referred to as the death of Moore's law whether or not. It's actually dying is is actually a highly contentious topic, but the death of Moore's law is actually one force. That's. Slowing down progress in in Cebu speeded efficiency Almond CPU development. There's some other forces to one fourth that sits a little bit technical. It's related to it's usually called Denard. Scaling. This is just the idea that it's it's getting harder and harder to make computers consume less energy. Some of the technologies that have been driving reductions energy are kind running out of steam. So for various reasons, actually progress in CBS has been slowing down not stopping but but slowing down since about two thousand ten, actually a little before that. Is, really showing up an industry you know after about two thousand ten. In around that time, a lot of people including myself were working on this. It seemed like a really hard problem. You Know How do we actually? Continue the enormous improvements we see in computing. Face with all of these challenges, there's actually a number of people in the industry who call. They're all of these walls that you'd run into and you know. So there is a joke in the industry that we basically run into a brick wall at this point. There's no way around this wall or it's it's really hard for your the leading experts in the world to figure out what to do next. You mean like n Hey, Moore's law. Hey as denard factor that all of these are just kind of like physical barriers that you couldn't surmount Yes Yeah it's hard to say like actually You know who? Maybe there will be a breakthrough in the future but in a lot of people spend a lot of really smart people spend a Lotta time young. Yeah. Yeah. And we haven't been able to find a way around young tough stuff. Yeah. So Luckily, at the same time, we figured out how to get a it to work. And that was so fortunate because the type of a sometimes called machine learning I'm just GONNA call it a I. The type of a technology that started to work really well, sometimes people called his deep learning one of the driving technologies is. The back propagation Algorithm in neural networks. And this technology is wonderful for computers. You know if you want to build a computer like a CPU that's good at running windows or running. The android operating system on your phone. Is Hard, you know the CPU. Is the best way that we know how to do that. But if you want to run something else. So if you want to run an AI algorithm like neural network if you want to train with back propagation. You can do something different you can do something completely different. And that opens up so many more opportunities to continue to improve performance and so you know since two thousand ten. As some companies have started to invest in these technologies I. Think. Actually. GP Use especially GP's from. Our an early era of investment. we've seen enormous gains like we've seen 10x gains are actually in terms of real applications, not not all real application running real applications actually seen a hundred times gains. In performance
Lets Talk Some Census Into You
"Terms of of the desire to really engage with the local communities we're turning gauge with community that date sign up for thousands of since his jobs available all throughout the country. You can find out more information about that. On twenty twenty cents is dot dot dot jobs in. It's a fantastic place to look for. What are the needs for this often? We're looking for folks who are speaking a specific language as because they can connect with those communities in particular. I imagine. That's what's happening in the city of Alexandria Sarah. I'm sure she can speak to that. So and so So I thank you for the Segue so I actually did want to mention one thing about the census enumerators that we've talked about a couple of times So the folks who are working on hiring in from the Census Bureau of actually been in conversations with me and so we kind of try to benefit each other and try to Support each other when we can One of the things that I like to tell people about census enumerators is that they're actually hired from the communities where they're going to be working so When you have someone knocking on your door asking you about the and might be someone you sought the grocery store money sally. You're getting coffee. It's not going to be someone from two states over who doesn't talk exactly so And they're trying to hire people who speak languages that are commonly spoken in those areas And you know when I do talk about the jobs I do mention that. They're they're really beneficial especially for people who might have a day job and just want to pick up a couple of hours doing sense. Numerous in the evening And so I think it is a really great opportunity in a way to involved That is not a on a volunteer basis by his still very critical to making sure that every single person gets on it. I mean it begs the question for me like for both of you guys like your own. I mean especially you as a demographer. Do you like really excited like every ten years. You're just like Oh my God. We're going to go do it again. Guys WE'RE GONNA find out. Who's out there and we are is it is. It is excitement of this. Like for you guys. Or what other the exciting parts of or of your participation. You're trying to encourage people to sign up to be some of these. What are the things that get you excited about participating in this to me personally and I think it goes back to what you're saying And the Child of immigrants in their agreement in a household where there is a little bit of hesitation about engaging but I remember when this insists occurred in the pig. Fat Inflow came in the mail. my dad had my sister's is it around the dinner table and say this is very get hurt. This is where we count eneg Rubin at five Sunny American will only in hearing that. I have to tell you that kind of inspired me to you to join us and to really talk about the importance of not only participating but spreading that message among all communities Also Denard and other lifestyle on economic economics and policies that are provide evidence and data driven decisions in census. Data is the gold standard for making so as a fellow data nerd. I agree So I mean everything that I do is supported by census data If I didn't have data from the census then I would either have to conduct surveys on my own which is very costly. Um and imprecise but So I really value since data for that reason. I'm particularly excited to see what comes out of the twenty twenty census Just because the city of Alexandria such dynamic place and it has been evolving and changing over time In just the past Thirty years of doing math correctly We have seen our Hispanic population for instance Rise from five percents to seventeen percent and that's That kind of demographic change is one of the things that makes me very excited to both live and work in the city of Alexandria that We're in an area that is becoming increasingly diverse and census. Data's really what tells me how diverse re becoming where people living? How are we interacting with each other? And where can we do a better job of interacting with each other and people who aren't necessarily like us or some excellent all right? I think we're con a low close to the end of our time together. But I wanted to know. Were there any other plugs or any other comments and our hope that listeners really did get a chance to understand the senses. Take a little bit of fear factor if there is any fear factor and then and and. I think like you were just saying like that. That feeling of being recognized you know. And that's part of the people want to be recognized. They want to you know know that we are here in. That's what this is kind of saying to The world that we have. We're here as a family as this culture as you know. What have you so Where are there any other Point said YOU WANNA bring up. We come to a close. Can't cover ever scenario podcast. Right WanNa make sure that folks knew about a great resource. It's twenty twenty cents. Dot Gov questions about how to count your college kids that are living in dorms versus living off campus or what happens to the relative that stays six months a year versus eight months year versus for months. Imagine it happens a lot with immigrant communities those resources addresses questions in so populous. Podcast isn't the only source of reference. I hope you've really visit those that website in address any of those answers here and for our neighbors here in Alexandria where I are based in the NFL LOSS. Pieces for them share So one thing that I really like to say is that Responding to the twenty twenty cents. This is important for everyone as we've addressed here but I like to say that it doesn't matter whether you're born here whether you've got here ten years ago or whether you got here ten days ago You count and you deserve to be hounded on the twenty. Two Thousand Census Another thing I like to share is that participating in the census is your way to participate in the civic process. Even if you're not a citizen of the United States And then the last thing I will close with is that I am Staffing the city of Alexandria is complete count committee but they're complete count. Committee is all over the United States. So if you are living in a different place than You might want to join your cities complete count committee and even if they're not accepting new members at the time. I am positive they are accepting volunteers There are complete committees that are both at the state and local level and also I know that community based organizations especially in some larger places are managing their own
"Back my friends. I'm Deepak Chopra and this is daily. Yesterday we took a look at the notion of some skyora reacting in the same limited way over and over this makes us biological robots. There's no creativity. There's no imagination. There is no fun so today. We look at how most people try and fail to tame the mind by getting caught in three-fifths reactions when looked at closely. All three of these behaviors. Come after the fact that deal with the minds disorder as the cause of the distress rod then as symptom so then the solutions also have negative effects. So how do people tried to change their behavior or even changed the behavior of others? They do this through manipulation through control and through denial in fact all these. Three things are entangled manipulation control. Deny let's take an example. You're three or four years old and you're at the shopping mall with your mother and you wonder Lollipop. And she says no then you first manipulation is being nice mummy. Please buy me the lollipop. I'll give you a kiss etc etc. If she refuses taking manipulation is Being nasty you throw me relied on the ground you scream. You have a temper tantrum. If that doesn't succeed then when you come home you hide you about become stubborn and your innocence unavailable Hugh. I'm manipulating and trying to control by being stubborn through withdrawal. And if that doesn't work then you go to your mom and you say you nice to my brothers and sisters but not nice to me Which means you play the victim. So being nice being nasty being stubborn being obstinate pouting and playing the victim are actually all control. Dramas that your ego uses to express itself and yet as we know the Egos just yourself amid. It's not who you are. And so if false construct is trying to manipulate situations in to fulfillment this is what we all want fulfillment the fulfillment of desire be one to have meaning and purpose in life. We wanted to be happy between actually in denial of who we are and as a result of this. Everything that we do to control to manipulate is the result of the denied of intimacy with our own staff so everyone should be aware of this and before you make a choice. It is very important to actually know your tendency to react. And that's why I always say pressed pause button and observe your reaction to react just that you know. Stop take a few debretts smile. Failure Body be observant. What's happening around you and then proceed with awareness and compassion. And just in doing that. You are beginning to free yourself and your mind is automatically being tamed. You can tame the mind. It's like a caged monkey but when you get rid of the bars than there's nothing to tame and all you have to realize that what was causing you distress was attachment to a construct that's all attachment to an idea. And once you realize that you as awareness intrinsically not that which you're experiencing that intrinsically awareness free of all its experiences then you can change the direction of your choices to give you the experience of a joyful energetic body as reflective alert. Mind loving compassionate heart lightness of being but denard it to do that. You have to get the habit of observing your reaction to react and not being in denial that most of the time you're a biological robot

"Worse centerfielder off of their team in denard's span is going to make a big difference modern jackson isn't like a you like you know a gold glove or anything but a compared can be nardi darn good hill compared to denard's span years is akron getting two hundred pence over to laughed and putting with touching out and right adding one gory it third not having to play pablo sandoval i think a lot of these things are going to benefit cueto and as long as the blisters dole pop up again in that is a big gift and that's why you're seeing him go where he's going uh i think he is a a nice balance bad candidate in a guy that especially if you have some safety already in euro tation you could definitely take a shot on on and he could be back to a top twenty pitcher mansaray and in mind gene nick isn't saying that he hates him he's got him a few picks lower justin are just saying we would take him earlier like we we like him more whereas next more of like we'll know this is the market that i i i tend to agree with us that that that's the that's the way i read it as well as i do for already frontier seven in the next few tears are going to be similar words can just be a favorite in a leastfavourite so nick was are with you here in tears seven we've got to any salazar pick 165 chase anderson 175 get richards also 175 morton one seventy seven danny duffy 179 drew pomeranz one eighty michael former 188 deal bundy 190 jameson tie on 194 analyst cape ann arbor santana to an because it's he's not gonna stay there has nothing to do with our ariz of long's in the first here but yeah is obviously on but nevertheless his prize is going to continue to go down because he's out you know for two months and it's just not something that especially in nfp see like it's as much as i was backing.

"Giants are going in i still like a complete game and i know it's antiquated in its its old school and you're just not going to see a lot of it anymore but that's what i like baseball doesn't like that anymore you seep relief pitchers getting big time cheddar and big time jack and i think that's the direction we're gonna see okay so what happened today evan long gory comes to the giants he's a thirty two year old third baseman y'all know evan long goria's a goal glover last year hell of a defender he can pick it as they say at third base and in exchange for avid long gory of bobby and brian sent christian arroyo and denard span and that and that loot and prospects matt kirk and stephen woods macaraeg momma koehler saw him down in san jose last year and matt sosnik actually represents him as well he's a kid out of hillsborough and he's pretty good lefty so that's what that's what happened that's what happened today so do you think that this team makes a giant scar this move makes the giants good enough to compete at least for a wildcard in 2018 and are you cool with debt because to me there's just two different order directions the giants could have gone is compete for a playoff or rebuild anything in between is a total waste of time you either go for the ring or you break it down and you start all over and i would tend to believe i would tend to get on here in say i'd like to see the rebuild that's what the cubs in astros did but that's a really easy thing to say on the radio for the team that and the investment investors and bruce boki and buster posey's madison bumgarner and for can be are nobody wants to sit through another ninety eight law season so it i mean it makes sense on paper and to end in april it makes sense break it down rebuild it hell yeah but then come july and august him guys like henry showman an antibeggar early and chris half when they're out dragon taylor around it's like oh i don't know if i want.

"It's amazing that they feel tired of denard it fair platform it into big calls of hate in the country run i didn't know what you've got buffet well commonsense i have a couple of things to say about that number one my first piece of advice is just avoid the comment section on any story published anywhere and the reason i say that is because the comment section brings out two things number one it brings out a lot of trolls and i think it brings out a lot of boughts and i think a lot of those comments are being posted by fake accounts that's number one anybody can post in a can post a comment on a story published by just about anybody and they can do so for their own political agenda and you see that all the time i mean i see comments on stories posted two stories that i can tell our spam i can tell their trawlers i can tell its bought sore just posting comments to try to to try to draw arise out of the rest of everybody else who's reading that story so i just avoid the comment sections altogether it sits literally if if you just want to see some of the stupidest people in america plus just a lot of fake accounts and spam bots that's where you find it you find it in the comment section so i just avoided altogether dear bigger point that uh that racism still exists in the united states look i i talked about this again yesterday of course it does the kneeling for the anthem issue is the best and latest issue that i can think of.
