And then we'll have an answer. Meanwhile, our esteemed journalistic community has deemed it completely off limits for Trump to even discuss voter fraud and voter irregularity, even though again Al Gore to this in 2000. John Kerry did some of this in 2004 right. The Diebold machines were going to oust John Kerry from office. You got this from Hillary Clinton last time around. When Trump does it, it's super duper duper much worse than when Democrats do it. Here's Jim Acosta, Jim Acosta and preemptive celebration from Jim Acosta, who loves himself like no journalist, except for Jeffrey Toobin. The president is watching the lights go out on his presidency right now. That is what we're witnessing a realtor time as these votes are being tabulated, and Joe Biden is catching up in Pennsylvania. And in Georgia, the presidency of Donald J. Trump is vanishing before our eyes. Okay, so that these journalists they can't send back by the way, this has him down ballot effects. If you think that what happened The other night is not a referendum on the failures of media. You're dead, wrong, immediate claim that the jump was gonna want Trump and not only that Republicans, we're gonna lose all across the land. Joe Biden was going to enter. Office with a with a wind at his back with the Democratic Congress with a Democratic Senate majority. Major Democratic Senate majority That ain't gonna happen. Those media. They've been lying to you. Here's another esteem that journalist another member of our journalistic Kadre. Trashing trump and calling him pathetic and fat. Which, of course, is just what a journalist would do, right? It's sad, and it is truly pathetic and course it is dangerous. And of course, it will go to chords, but you'll notice the president did not have any evidence that is the president of United States that is the most powerful person in the world and we see him. Like an obese turtle on his back, flailing in the hot sun, realizing his time is over. But he just hasn't accepted it and he wants to take everybody down with him, including this country. There It is your journalistic community. I can't imagine why people showed up in droves because they don't like the media. The failures of the media here are endemic If Trump is going to talk about a stolen election seriously in the future. I think he's in much more solid ground, talking about a stolen election on the basis of the media, having completely shifted the nature of the race being awful being liars. That is, that is unimpeachable. I mean, that is the reality. Now listen, Countess, stealing in the sense that, like votes got shifted secretly in the middle of the night. If you're talking about the fairness of elections, if you're talking about the overall justice of the media that lies to you. It's a bigger, endemic issue than the number of people who are supposedly stuffing ballot boxes in the end, because that's gonna outlast any election. "At all for the court case, Senator Debbie Snack Senator Debbie seven out of Michigan. Thanks so much for being with us. You're welcome. You're listening to special coverage from NPR news. In the weeks and months leading up to the election, Democrats looked at polls and thought they could finally take back control of the Senate and expand its house majority. That hasn't materialized. The window to a Democratic Senate majority is quickly closing, while their margin in the house is shrinking. Claudia Carrizales is here to talk more. She covers Congress for us in Claudia. What happened to the so called Blue Wave? It was a mirage. In the end, it was fuelled by poles and an influx of record donor money that created this misleading picture. So in race after race, there were predictions that Democrats were in the lead in states like main, But as we saw today, Senator Susan Collins defeated the challenger, the Democratic challenger there, Sara Gideon. The Democrats have only gained one net seat for control. They needed three plus the vice president's ear for without it, and it doesn't look like that, maybe a clear possibility at this point, and you talked about record donor money at an oaf. You're in part, referring to you know things like Act Blue, which is the online payment processor, which just raised like a billion and a half dollars, right at one point in the quarter and to put towards these kinds of races. Yes, The influx of money was record setting. For example, in South Carolina alone, we saw the Democratic challenger there. Jaime Harrison raise $57 Million and a quarter. It's never been done in the history of Senate candidates. Meanwhile, Lindsay Ground the GOP sitting senator in that race, who won and defeated Harrison, he raised 28 million. That was a record for Republicans and we saw a story along these lines repeat across the country over and over records being set even in races that were considered long shots, for example, to Kansas Senate race we saw Good floods of money coming in for these blue races, But in the end, it didn't translate into winds like Democrats had hoped. What do we know So far about the Senate? I mean, when could we finally get some clarity there? So right now, therefore outstanding races. Of course. We mentioned earlier that Gary Peters has defeated his Republican challenger in that state. So what we're waiting on now is racist to be determined winners to be determined. In North Carolina, For example, Georgia's looking at two at one run off race could be looking at two. At least days before some of these races get resolved. But if we're waiting for Georgia, which is looking at a runoff in January could be months before we know for sure who's gonna have the Senate majority. Can we talk about some of the legal challenges to come? Yeah, so this is going to drag out some of these fights, and earlier today, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell touched on this. It's it's comment when these races are so tight. He spoke to the folks in Kentucky today. Let's take a listen. You can anticipate in close elections, Both sides will be lawyered up and we'll end up in court. It's happened over and over and over again. Nothing unusual. So he's saying there. This is pretty common, and it definitely could be something we could see in the days to come because these races are so tight in states like North Carolina. Before I let you go. I want to talk about the house. Democrats maintained their majority there, but there was no further real gain for them right And people are looking at that and scrutinizing it because there were incumbents that lost races in Florida and, you know Minnesota and other states. Can you talk about what happened there? Did Republicans make gains or kind of what was the swap you have Republicans have made gains It gives you whiplash. When you think about the expectations going into this race, Democrats were thinking they were going to gain 5 to 10 seats or more to expand that majority in the House. But instead they're looking at Republicans making those gains. At least of five seats. It could be more they're set. There's many outstanding races out there. Democrats weren't able to defend Ah lot of their pickups from the 2018 midterms moderate Democrats like representative Joe Cunningham in South Carolina, and then there's other moderates like Minnesota's Collin Peterson. He's the chairman of the House Agriculture Committee. He was also defeated. And so this is a story line that Democrats saw over and over, and it's just going to make governing for them in that chamber that much harder with such a slimmer margin in that chamber. All right, Claudia, stay with us. We're going to bring in another voice. My old boss Ron Elving, the longtime congressional watcher as well, I don't know. Well, has some questions for you. I sure do. Run. Okay, senior editor and correspondent. That is your title. It's your title because you've been doing this for a real long time. Look across the country for me and tell me what on the map in 2020 stands out to you. What's the story? One thing that strikes me is how much this map looks like. The map of 2016. It's not a scrambled map with Arizona, of course, is a is a red state of Republican state has been voting that way since the 19 fifties, with only one exception. And so for them to flip is kind of a big deal. But the rest of the map looks a lot like 2016 at this juncture, except that three states that deserted the Democrats in the blue wall around the Great Lakes. Back in 2016 are still our back. Well, two of them are back in the Democratic fooled Wisconsin and Michigan and Pennsylvania is still too close to call now those three states by breaking their decades long pattern of voting with the Democrats for president. And siding with Trump by a combined total of less than 80,000 votes, gave the White House to Donald Trump. So two of those three have deserted him, and one more is still in the counting. And this year by only slightly mart larger margins there back with Biden, so it's not a huge move. This is not a radically different map. This year, though it could yield 270 for the Democrat just as they very much expected it to do back in 2016 and, you know, the Democrats have always assumed that they would win more races..

A grand jury has indicted one officer six months after Briana Taylor was fatally shot by police. Ryan Burrow is covering the story for ABC News and spoke with Como's Jeff Pooja. Well, first off. What was the decision handed down by that grand jury? Yeah, three counts of wanton endangerment of the first degree against one of the officers who opened fire into Briana Taylor's home That was Brent Hank it Brett Angus in He has since been terminated. Really? The charges not related to the death of Briana Taylor, because it wasn't any of his bullets that struck Briana Taylor rather the charges of the results of firing aimlessly into a window, which possibly could have endangered the lives of others, not only in Taylor's apartment but in nearby apartments as well. What the attorney General of Kentucky said in the conclusion of their investigation was that the officers who arrived at Briana Taylor's home did indeed knock. They say. The officers say that they did, and there was at least one witness at the scene, who said they also heard the announcement of an entry by police. So it kind of, um, obviously takes away from some of the information we receive that this was a no knock warrant and that the officers silently entered the home upon entry Thie officers at this point, Detective Miles Cosgrove and Sergeant John Mattingly apparently saw Briana Taylor and her boyfriend at the end of the hallway. The boyfriend who has been identified Open fire on the officers striking Sergeant Mattingly in the leg. That's when the officers opened fire on Briana Taylor and the boyfriend, hitting Briana Taylor six times one of those shots. Was fatal, and she died as a result of that they believed that those two officers acted in self defense, and the shooting was justified. So what's been the reaction from the public? So far? We've already seen some marching but has violence broken out So far, It's been peaceful demonstrations, things if you know people are kind of letting their emotions be heard. Demonstrations and walks through Louisville of our extended several miles. We know that police are efforting protection of some of the more sensitive areas. Kentucky National Guard has been activated to assist and as you mentioned earlier, the curfew is in place. So they hope to prevent widespread unrest. As we've seen in the past while still allowing people to peacefully protest Alright, ABC is Ryan Burrow. Thank you so much for joining us. And that's Como's Jeff Pooja.
