"Jason Dickinson 58% from the face off circle tonight and yet it's been such an interesting ride with Jason Dickinson's entire NHL career because he did so well in Dallas didn't do so well in Vancouver and then comes over here to the hawks and his fit in very well, and I think that's another nod to Luke Richardson's ability. He can take these guys that need a scene change the need to be implemented a little bit differently and he pulls out the best in them. You know, that's kind of an actually, it's an interesting topic. Because so often we've praised Kyle Davidson for that who does still deserve a lot of the credit for guys like Sam lafferty, Jason Dickinson, Jared to norty, is pulling these guys out of situations that they weren't the situations that weren't favorable for them. And it's almost like a diamond in the rough type situation, even though it's not that rare. But they come over here and all of a sudden there are these very valuable players. Now, is that more of a Kyle Davidson scouting eye or is that a Luke Richardson ability to pull out the best in these players? I know lafferty was here last year. And he got off to a great start the moment he became a Black Hawk under Derek king. But that's interesting. I'd like to see more examples of it because I guess you won't know, you won't know the answer to that until you pull out one of the variables, but as of right now, I don't think there's any reason to doubt Kyle Davidson scouting ability, or Luke Richardson's coaching ability, with the small sample size that we've received, I don't see any reason to doubt that just yet. Let's hear how it sounded from Rogers arena. Again, the Blackhawks are the very good first period one. I think they outplayed the Vancouver Canucks with. There was a power play opportunity for the hawks. That's when boriska chuck got denied by Thatcher demko, a huge left leg pad save denying the Blackhawks have taken the lead and then later on, Vancouver was able to score the first goal. This deflects

"Lot of opportunities out there that they just were good. We had some chances. I had some looks around the net. He made some say so I'm, yeah, play pretty well. How would you assess the team game and how I used to play the game play? We were okay. I thought we had stretches where we were really good and stretches where they kind of took over and I'm gonna answer for them. But, you know, it's really a tight game throughout, I thought, I thought we did a lot of good things. Does it feel like there's been more goals bouncing off you guys than than ever before in any season? I've never seen anything like that. I don't even know how many I have in my own freaking out this year as well. I'm trying to take the backdoor play away. So unlucky, but it seems like I have discussed way more than a show. Is there anything you can do about it? You know, maybe. But you're in the moment. My sticks down trying to take the back door that's happened away in it. You just fires it right on my sticks. Maybe I can. I don't know the answer. To be honest. Don't break it up. It just can't happen. Essentially, but rather than put it in the meme. Wrinkles been up for over a month now and it seems like every day he makes these little plays where he sees something special there, but what have you seen out of him? He could take over a game with his feet. He got a thing I would do to do the cabin that you're on there in the second and I gave it to him in the middle and split the D and he was in on a breakaway. He seems to have one of those explosive plays every game and it's exciting to see because that's what we're going to do in the future. I forgot like you know here for long term it's got to think inside that's got to be good to see. All right, we got guys that coming up that are going to be able to do this. For sure, for sure. The game has turned into a speed game and he's got that side of it. Trying to work with him on the fireplace as well with each other, trying to create some chemistry there. But I like where he's like rose games offensively and being explosive and some of those places. Our three star selection tonight is sponsored by cars star trust car star North America's leading premier collision repair provider with your collision repair needs visit car star dot com to find a Chicagoland location near you. The number three star tonight vitali crofts off. He had a goal in tonight's game. It was the second of the night. Aikido hirosi, the number two star, and Thatcher demko, the number one star, no surprise there again 33 saves against the Blackhawks offense in this three nothing shutout demko with his third career shutout and his first of this season before we get to Jason Dickinson. I want to get to a few more texts. For the 8 four 7, Mitch kov has three more years under his contract, Carlson is two more years on his SHL contract. Thank you for the clarification 8 four 7. But also, you know, that is the difference too, is kind of a dart is the immediate impact for a rebuilt. That kind of accelerates the rebuild. If the Blackhawks or any other team is able to land him from the 7 7 three area code, basically saying that, bedard will accelerate the rebuilding, but you need these other people to develop. Yes, absolutely. Even if the Blackhawks land kind of bedard, we're still talking about a rebuild next year. And it's great to see it all accelerated, but the complementary pieces still need to come. All the guys in the system right now, all those other draft picks that Kyle Davidson acquired, all of those still need to pan out. And you're not going to hit on all of them. That's just how it works in sports. But they need to go through. From the two 6 zero area code, what is a canuck? Well, based on a quick, easy Internet search, which I bet you're capable of, Wikipedia says, canuck is a slang term for a Canadian, the origins of the word are uncertain. And one more text before we get to Jason Dickinson. From the four one 7 area code, hey Joe, 50 year hawks fan is tabes going to retire. We definitely need to focus on offense for next season. Are we going to wait for the offense to show up through development, thanks, Mike, in Missouri. How about that? We get a text from Minnesota and Missouri tonight, along with Chicago. I don't know if Jonathan taves is going to retire. I don't know if Jonathan Dave's nose if Jonathan tape is going to retire. He's clearly put some thought into it. I don't know how much of deep thoughts he's put into it because he's basically said that he's entertained the thought, but he doesn't go too deep into it because he's not going to be able to make that decision until the summer. What we do know is it took a lot for him to come back, he finally did. He seems to be responding to it very well. He's not prime tip top 100% Jonathan taves, but man he seems comfortable out there. He seems happy to be out there and he's still making play playmaking abilities that only he can do. And I think the team is responding very well because of his return too. I mean, I think that win against Calgary Tuesday night, a big reason that happened is because of Jonathan taves return. Let's hear from Jason Dickinson who also chatted with the media

"And just got denied. And then in the third period, a little spin around. I mean, that takes some confidence to pull off a play like that. I thought it was going to sneak through, but again, demko with a very solid game tonight, yet 33 saves total. Against the Blackhawks offense. And Boris could shook mind you. Co leading the hawks with four shots on goal, he and Tyler Johnson. Each with four shots on goal. Brock besser of the Vancouver Canucks led the game with 5 shots on goal. But again, kuchuk playing like a world different than he was earlier this year. And that's the difference this year can make on these players that are looking to utilize this quality playing time. Boriska chuck is playing to show what he's worth in the NHL. He's giving it his all every night. He's finding chemistry with different lines and different players. And it's definitely paying off right now. Thought another good game for Lucas reichl, three shots on goal, he had an attempt blocked, he had a takeaway, but we saw him kind of weed through the defense, create a breakaway opportunity. We saw him absorbing some hard hits, was bouncing back and forth on the radio and TV broadcast Patrick sharp was breaking down how that's what you want to see. Lucas reichel do? Being able to absorb those hits, you can't avoid them all. And you can't have his teammates defending him on every time he gets hit by one of the Vancouver Canucks. So it is up to reichel to do a better job of absorbing those hits. And making sure that it just doesn't totally wipe them out. And I think this road trip so far, even two games in. Has been a great example of who Lucas reichel can be at the NHL level. And now I'm really excited to see what he's able to do down in Rockford. When he goes back down there because he will, he's going to help the ice hogs on their playoff run. And hopefully, it'll be a long playoff run, so a lot of those guys can get an opportunity to play some high quality, high competitive games. Again, if you'd like to join us three one two 9 8 one 7200, you can give us a call, or you can give us a text talks get shut out by the Vancouver Canucks three to nothing tonight at Rogers arena Vancouver sweeps the hawks, definitely had their number this year. Doing some quick math in my head, the Canucks outscore the Blackhawks 12 to four in those three games. But again, it was a solid, it was a very good first period. I think Vancouver might have edged the hawks a little bit in that second period. Third period was the hawks. I mean, they end up outshooting Vancouver overall 33 to 29, and I get it. When the other team is pitching a shutout, you eventually want to just start throwing pucks towards the net, but that's what you gotta do. We've got Jeff and Morton grove. He wants to talk about some of the black hawks prospects. Go ahead, Jeff, what prospects do you want to talk about? Hey, this actually coming off of a game right now too. So I can't put a little bit of the end of the game on the radio. But I mean, I think for first of all, the draft of bidard, I think any of the top three guys that are going to go in the strap are going to be solid for any franchise no matter where they go. It's looking like a really good giraffe this year. But I mean, most importantly, it's like so young when you're drafting kids that it's really developing, like can we develop a rigolet double-A to really become second line third line or even maybe first line players, but I mean, realistically, have to see meet all their playing with good effort. It probably because they're playing for second contracts with other teams. Most of the process is going to be turned over before we get competitive. No, I hear you. I hear where you're coming from. What about, did you want to talk about some specific prospects or was it just more kind of about the upcoming draft? So even if your first note, we're not guaranteed for dollar even if we have the worst record. Right. So everyone's really hoping I know there's not hard for the guard this season, but I think if we don't get in, that's not the end of the world. You know, we do have some, I mean, you're watching the frozen floor right now. We have some solid prospects going in there. We could fully prospect, we have to kick from Michigan, so who are all young and hopefully it's all about just developing talent, kind of finding those core players and bringing them up with them. Jeff, you make a lot of great points. What game are you coming from? Who is kind of a beginner's league game? I played for a friend as a favor. They needed to go ahead and so I came out of I was always out in Morgan park playing tonight. What's the team name? I actually told you to know a few names and so you were the E bug for a nameless team. Basically, yeah, I'm just kind of I'm like the neighborhood goalie around Chicago and someone needs someone last minute. They give me a call and they throw me in that time. I tried my best. Hey, that's not a terrible role. Good for you, Jeff. Chicago needs an emergency goalie every once in a while. Yeah, well, you know, it's great for me because I don't like working out. I'd rather play hot. I hear you. All right, Jeff, drive safe. Thank you for the call. Don't be a stranger. Yep, thank you. Have a good night. That is Jeff and Morton grove, and again, if you'd like to join us three one two 9 8 one 7200, you can give us a call. You can give us a text. I want to pull out a few things that Jeff said. He's totally right with the assessment of it takes more than just one guy. And I feel like we've been fair about that sentiment. We've talked about that before. You look at the Edmonton Oilers who have the best player in hockey right now and Connor McDavid, and a lot of people are not expecting the Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup. And it's not like they only have Connor McDavid. They've got plenty of talent on that team.

"Playing well. He's creating a lot of opportunities. He's got to fight a way to finish off some of these plays because he certainly working hard and getting the opportunities. Well, that's why I pull it out because it was such an up and down year for him. It's really good to see him just so in his groove right now, just definitely in sync with the situation and nearly capitalizing on it. All right, Troy, well, I'm sorry I'm bringing the bad weather. I had no idea it was another gloomy day in Seattle coming up, but I mean, it's odds are every two out of three days, I think the sun doesn't shine over there, so I don't know if you can blame me for that, but I am looking forward to seeing you guys out there. Well, I wish I could say the same. I'm just kidding. We'll see you tomorrow. I look forward to it and have a safe flight out. All right, can't wait to see you on the TV side too. Thank you, Troy. All right, Joe, bye bye. That is Troy Murray. He and John white have been on the call tonight as the hawks get shut out in Vancouver three nothing to the Canucks. That season series is over. The Blackhawks have no more games in Canada, actually two road games left overall against the Seattle kraken on Saturday and then against the Pittsburgh penguins to conclude their road schedule. Next Tuesday. Again, this is the postgame show we're taking you up to 1230 in the morning. So welcome midnight owls and those of you maybe some late workers, just enjoying some Blackhawks hockey on the radio. If you'd like to join us three one two 9 8 one 7200, you can call or you could text. This was another game where the Blackhawks brought their competitiveness. They brought their energy and brought their hardworking effort, but unfortunately it just didn't show up on the scoresheet tonight. They get shut out by Thatcher demko picks up his first shutout of the year, his third career shut out and apparently the first shutout for the Vancouver Canucks since December of 2021, you have to go back to Bruce boudreau's first game as the head coach of the Vancouver Canucks to find the last time that Vancouver was able to shut out a team. I think it is still the case where Vancouver is paying three different head coaches at this moment. After they let boudreaux go earlier this year and then brought in Rick pocket. Either way, Vancouver's not going to the playoffs. Actually even following on Twitter with a lot of Canucks fans hoping that the Canucks would maybe toss this game and help out their rankings in the draft selection. So listen hawks fans, once again, the Blackhawks are not alone in this whole situation of looking at the possible the possible acquiring of Conor bedard by the end of the draft, but we'll get into that later. We've been hammering that a lot lately and more so because of the reaction from the Blackhawks win on Tuesday against the Calgary flames. This is a different situation. This is what we've been seeing a lot of this year. The Blackhawks bringing a good effort, playing a very hard fought game, but just unfortunately, not finishing it off with a victory. And so many times this year, we've brought up that topic and we've brought up what that does to this team. That can get draining on a team. So that is why those wins against Calgary on Tuesday are important. Now, I think it's a little bit easier for the hawks to leave this one because they didn't lose this game by a lack of effort. They didn't lose this game by not trying and they're coming off a win against Calgary, so the kind of proved to themselves that they're just not absolutely snake bitten right now either. Just a whole bunch that goes on during all this and the important thing for that coaching staff right now is just keep team morale and keep everything upbeat. And again, tonight, I think that mentality continues, but the scoreboard does not. Couple other players I want to pull from, again, I thought Boris could chuck fantastic game today four shots on goal, he had one hit, he won one face off, he had a takeaway, but his comfortability offensively is such a forward stride. I mean, this is a guy that was having some difficulty finding playing time earlier this year. And now because obviously post trade deadline, there's more openings on the roster. There's more openings on the lineup. He's being he's being given bigger responsibilities and bigger roles and he's a guy that came over from Tampa Bay. In the Brandon Hegel deal, looking for a scene change in trying to utilize it in capitalize off it. And it took some time, but man, is he taking advantage of it now? I mean, I think he had, he probably had the three best scoring chances in each period. We talked about the big save that Thatcher demko had on him in the first period when the Blackhawks were on the power play. Demko just sprawling out and lifting his left pad up to deny kachu. Kind of had a wide open net just to the left of demko, but again, demko had a great game tonight. In the second period there was an instance where he caught a stretch pass and just right away, right idea just throwing that puck towards the net.

"At all in the Blackhawks, postgame show. The business is done with the Vancouver Canucks. They sweep the season series winning all three games the last one by shutout. Thatcher demko stopping all 33 Blackhawk shots for the win. For everybody I mentioned I'm John whiteman from the Rogers arena here in Dan Cooper. Thanks for tuning in. This has been Blackhawks hockey on 7 20 WGN. Joe's got your postgame show. Let's get it to him right now. It's time for the Chicago Blackhawks postgame show on the Blackhawks radio network. Here's Joe brand. Not the result that the black clocks deserved. But it is a three zero shutout victory for the Vancouver Canucks Vancouver ends up sweeping the Blackhawks in the season series and taking this one from Rogers arena with the loss. The locks now fall to 25 47 and 6 on the year Vancouver improves to 35 36 and 7. I'm Joe brand this is the Blackhawks postgame show we're taking you up till 1230 tonight or tomorrow morning however you want to look at it and I say welcome in night owls. If you'd like to join us three one two 91 7200 give us a call, give us a text, but first we're gonna head back over to Vancouver and bring in Troy Murray briefly to break down this game a little bit more. Troy, this was another solid third period played by this hawks team. Another good effort towards the final horn, but none showing it offensively tonight, but definitely not because of the Blackhawks lack of effort

"Seth Jones at the left point walks it through the deep slide. Holding it there, he'll give it a Tyler Johnson top of the left wing circle. Put it in low do tapes in the left wing corner to Johnson by the left circle closing to the net he shoots and then go down with a butterfly save will squeeze the puck and hold it. Boy Tyler Johnson got loose there, Troy he had his choice of shots. And just hard snapshot, but the great save by dimple. Yeah, good job by him to recognize that he could attack the net. It's a good opportunity, demko has been solid in this one. This time Miller wins the draw from tapes. Puck pounded around, but not out. By hirosi kept in at the right point by reichel. Down to Dickinson of the right wing corner. Back to rankle right point. To the deep flat now Seth Jones. To tave top of the left circle. And now to Johnson along the left Ford's back to the line Seth Jones. He'll try to sing Irish shot blocked out high by millard Johnson top of the west circle. Put it down to Tay's left wing corner one 12 on the power play. The Seth Jones left point to reiko right point. Mishandled the puck over the blue line back to center race in the hawks after a group. Seth Jones quickly back into the Canucks zone to tape, left circle. Put it back in front for Seth Jones. It's off his stick and wide Hit tighter by not dead. Jonathan tapes on that plate missed him and took out one of his own guys, so it was a 5 on two. Michael put it across. Johnson left circle fires. Myers turned to skate sideways to block it. Tyler Johnson put it to the line Jones could not hold it in. Seth Jones back the center rights with the puck. Leaving it for Lucas raiko 35 seconds in the hawk power play. Raiko will back skate with the puck down into the hot zone. And hand it off to Caleb Jones as the hawks get a new 5 out there. There's Ian Mitchell to center ice. Passing on the left wing Caleb Jones over the canuck line. Guides the punt down to the corner. To get it. Put the puck behind the net intended for entwistle. Burrows took it in step, lost the puck to get shipped to Mitch off the line. And over left wing corner to Caleb Jones. Sped up behind the net into the right wing corner for good shoot. Leaving it there for Cara three seconds to one and the Canucks are back to full strength. Play continues in the right wing corner can knock in. Cara battling with a couple of Canucks and helping out burrows came out with the puck pearls is pinned there with a check from entwistle. And Cara does likewise to his man. That's Oman and now the Canucks clear there in Oman leaves the rush. Crossing the hawk line of the right wing shoved off the puck nicely by Caleb Jones and goes down no penalty call. Hawks get it back. Four 25 on the clock for hawks trail two nothing. Caleb Jones of an outlet pass Reese Johnson threw center over the canuck line down the right wing and the tough angle shot deflects up into the protective netting and out of play. Four 16 left in the third, the Canucks lead it to nothing. The hawks have a miraculous comeback in store for their fans. Find out after this break this is lack on taki on 7 20, WGN. Attention. "Sell your home as is today called the name you know and the name you trust. Grandview homes dot com. Hey, Chris chelios here. It's time to break out the bandido. El bandido Yankee tequila, so smooth, it's criminal. Break out the bandido baby. While we're back, Fox down by two just over halfway through the third period. What's a nice opportunity Vancouver was caught in a line change and the two fed you dark hair in front of the net and there's a quick bang bang play. Yeah. Great save by demko. As we rejoin the play deep in the hawk zone, Caleb Jones hit as the unloads a pass down nice and the kanakan Ethan bear beat radish to it, but his clearing attempt was picked off by Tyler Johnson who put the puck down along the end boards. That's scooped away from Dickinson by bearing to the far corner. Bester got the puck there for Vancouver shot it up the left wing. Nobody home. Miss thanks into the hawk zone Seth Jones waiting there to his brother Caleb between the circles. He tried to give the puck back to Seth instead he has to chase it down in the near corner. Pass up the right wing and whistle to center ice to Reese Johnson. He'll chop it down in behind the canuck net. Demko waves it around up the right side to him on he'll flip it down into the hawk in. Garland took it away from Mitchell. Garland in front of that backhand shot missed the net. Dakota Joshua behind the hawk net got a stick up in the face of Mackenzie entwistle who's down in a heat behind the net and the whistle blows did either referee catch that. I don't think either one did. No. It's actually Reese Johnson, excuse me. And I don't know if it was a sticker, maybe an elbow that caught Reece Johnson in behind the net. Say in a few words to Dakota Johnson trying to get another look at it here. Yeah, Reeves wants a piece of it. That's a glove to the face. He kind of turns around and swats at Reese Johnson, Carmen right in the face. Before Johnson was Joshua. So it was the guy in the last game in Chicago that delivered a real big hit on Lucas reichel McKenzie and wanted a piece of him. Vancouver ended up scoring on the play. Luke Richardson talked about Lucas reichel. Well, that's kind of on you. You're standing there at the blue line with the puck, not making a decision. What you wanted to do and I just, I honestly thought that Dakota Joshua led up on that hit a little bit. But he flattened Lucas rifle. I don't like mcward. Dakota Joshua is a product of the Ohio State system. Dearborn Michigan native. Play in the hawk zone off the draw near corner. Josh was checked by caves off the puck. Mitchell can't clear it out and now Mitchell takes the puck back. Little 6 foot pass to Athena see who makes a pass up the left wing boards down into the Canucks zone. And Michael did his level best to beat pearls to the dots and the knock in, but burrows was just a Scotia ahead of him. And I think it's called against the house. Vancouver. Battling hard. Defending pretty good. Fox trying to find some open space and there haven't been a lot of, and this has been a hard contested game in all areas. Fox had had some opportunities though and they just haven't been able to capitalize. Pays and drives face off. Tapes wins it back in on his goaltender stay line. He put the puck behind the hawk Ned England who drove it around the left wing side not out. Pearls at the right point spins it back in behind the hawk net. Mitchell then firing it up ice this misses out to see you and again we get icing to the hawks. Look Richardson rotating a lot of the defensemen that Garrett's already been dealing with a little bit of an injury that Luke Richardson wants to give him a little rest. England back in the lineup after missing the last two games rewarding Mitchell for a strong game in Calgary he talked about it this morning in the media from saying, hey look, you know, sometimes when you have a good game you have to reward them Austin Wagner who scored a goal in that game. There's a healthy scratch in this one. He just said, you don't want to get guys back into the lineup. Never fun to be sitting out now when you have three extra defense when you got to make some decisions. Ian Mitchell certainly grown in the position. I look forward to more and better from him in years to come with the Blackhawks. Good young defenseman university of Denver product. Canucks to give the puck up taves hot wine. Passing across the ring. And like over the flex the puck into the Canucks zone, we get a whistle for icing and now we're gonna get a strap, I believe. In front of the benches Andreas Athens see you got locked up with one of Canucks can't get a number. Is that Quinn Hughes? I think it is. And now Connor Murphy has taken down one of the Canucks in front of the Canucks man. That's Kyle Burroughs. Now gross took a good run at Lucas reichel. Captain to see who came in, Hughes came in and got on top of him and then burrows wanted a piece of Connor Murphy drag him down to the ice. Imagine that. Rough stuff in a Canucks hawks game. Imagine that. Go look at the run that burrows took. After the seal behind the play and whose grabs him around the head, but then after the CO ends up a top of him. Just going everything on the replay. They're going to get some little roughing penalties, nothing more than that Well, he is an athlete who each received two minutes as Troy said. We'll see if they're joined in their respective penalty boxes. Now this looks like those are going to be the only penalties called. It'll be even up four on four. All right, I thought Murphy and burrows might join the party. We were reminiscing this morning in the morning skate about some of the great games that took place in this building between these two teams. Back in the day and the 2009 playoffs came to mind some of the scraps that took place in some of the nastiness that carried on for a couple of years and turned it into a great rivalry. Yeah, we had an opportunity to get a firsthand version of it from Patrick sharp. Yeah. And he regaled us with a couple of good stories, didn't he? So each received two for roughing. And I think the Vancouver got the extra two here, Troy. Does the hocks are going to get a sitcom power play out of this? Yeah, you're right. So this is the opportunity. Central power play. Venture awakes will up first with sicko. He's against Miller in the face off circle, the hawks. Zero for two so far, but they've created some good opportunities. Perhaps off will serve the extra two minutes for Quinn Hughes. Penalties at 13 minutes of period number three. Face off to the right of goaltender Thatcher demko. Miller and taves tapes wins the face off. Seth Jones at the left point walks it through the deep slide. Holding it there, he'll give it a Tyler Johnson top of the left wing circle. "Like about the sabers as a demco trade partner is the fact that, you know, this here is kind of a bonus. It's part of the reason why I like the idea of like the king's and Cal Peterson as like, you know, that's a ready made reclamation project for the Canucks, but also immediately creates value because they don't like need demko to be the guy this year so much as it's a bet on him balancing back going forward. I still think buffalo fits with that where, you know, you're not plugging him in and expecting him to be the savior that gets you to the playoffs this year if you're the saber, but you're doing it toward with an eye toward the future. So, you know, I like it, and I like the hall for Vancouver.

"In terms of like goalie technique, I'm definitely a novice, but it's one of those things where when you see it, you know it. And when I watch Jake oner, it seems like every save he makes, like, squarely hits him in the logo, and it's like, that makes me feel like he's doing something right in terms of positioning in terms of just being in the right spot at all times. But maybe I'm not giving enough credit to the fact that he knows where the shot is going to be coming from because of who's in front of him. And so he's able to get there in time as opposed to if he was playing behind his Canucks defense where every two on one he's basically having to move laterally and cheat and it's just a whole comedy of errors. Listen, I'm a big Jake on Japan. I've had to pump my own brakes here. The demko thing. And like I said, like I said, I think that once he's back to full health, even behind this train wreck of a team defensively, he'll be just fine. Like I think this was a health thing. But it's making me question how quickly until you've done it, you haven't done it. And he did it once. And right now Jay gotten is in the same boat. I love everything about his game. Almost everything. There is no perfect goalie, but I would have said the same thing about demko. I had a really good playoff. Grew into the number one role, had a great season. The adjusted numbers last year, maybe the raw numbers were 9 15, but the adjustment was common. Top 7. I would have had them in the category. So that's the hesitation. I just want to make sure that hesitation on engineer is not about his ability. It's about sort of how hard it is to do this year after year after year. Guess who's right ahead of Jake gottinger right now this season and adjusted say a percentage? Carter Hart. Yeah? I mean, there's another guy that I thought I would have put him in that conversation probably prematurely because I love everything about his game and the way it was building. And then the bottom fell out for what, two full seasons. And yeah, a lot of that's environment. Fireman's not a, that's not much better than not a ton better this year. It's better, but it's not a ton better. And he's got a top ten adjusted tape percentage, right? So I guess I'll go back to goalies or voodoo, but there's times where I'm like, oh man, maybe they are damn it. Like, this is really pisses me off because there are so many things that I didn't, I didn't, I didn't see Carter Hart having the down years. To be honest with you, right? Like, I'm glad to see that everything I saw early seems to be prevalent again and he looks really good again. He looks like, you know, he looks like a guy who could be in net for Canada the next time we have an international competition. We can finally erase the baseline to clear for that is pretty low. You're in consideration for that as well. You know what? I think this is going to be a silly thing to say because vasilevsky was first on that list and it was like, I think players and hockey ops people were pulled by ESPN and he's one of asna.

"Had banana chicken samsonov, they let them go bring in two new goalies, their performance has been perfectly fine. I think we're seeing, I don't know what the word is. The rotating cast element in terms of everyone is almost much more replaceable. It's musical chair. Yeah. We've seen the game of musical chairs every year. I think more teams are willing to take part in that even in the number one position. Like forever, we would see musical chairs, but it wasn't always the number one, right? It's a little more interchangeable, right? And I think part of that is, how many guys do we put in that game changer elite category right now? To me, that list is shorter. And so unless you have an Andre SLS, and this is where it's really easy right now to say that teams aren't going to invest in goaltending like they used to outside of an Andre vasilevsky because the next generation don't forget we lost a lot of generational gold Danish in the last three years. Think of the long goes and the lundquist and the retirements that we've seen. It's a deep list and I think the tear below them gets missed. Corey Crawford, I remember Corey Schneider reaching out to me at one point this year when all the focus was on the decline in save percentage and he sent me a list of all these guys that had left the league and and he wasn't wrong. That was a part of it. And the experience they took with them. So as this list shortens, I mean, it's really easy to just decide you're going to invest in less and have sort of two decent options, then go all in on one option because the list of guys that satisfy that requirement is shorter than it's ever been like, what, 60? Like 70, I'm trying to think of the names that I'd put on that list. I would have had Thatcher demko there, but then the injuries, now there's question marks because of the injuries.

"Pretty electric. He was the story of the weekend. I mean, we probably should have led with him to be honest, but we went with the most recent game. Vegas, they dominated the whole game, but you felt that was one of these games if he keeps playing like this, they're gonna rope a dope and they did. They took a three one lead in the series. He stopped dirty to 33 shots. His numbers in the Conference Finals, let me find them right here. Of course, he led this. He led the NHL in safe percentage with a 9 30. He's got a 9 52 save percentage in the Western Conference Finals he stopped a 119 out of a 125 shots, one 6 four goals against 9 50 in the conference final. I mean, so you think it's dumb Cole in Dallas gear is what you're saying. Well, no, I mean, demko's a young kid who's, you know, got a high future. Whereas the who dope is more of a journeyman. I mean, he was great number two embossed and he got the stock and gig in Carolina, didn't pan out there for whatever reason. He did have the highest 8 percentage all year, but I mean, I know Dallas fans think I have a bias to them. I love Dobby. Everybody in the league loves to be the media. Every guy who plays with him, it's just been an incredible story, but one of the Joe pavelski, I mean, like these guys like I was seeing, it was veterans. Dude, exactly. You had patch ready, stone takes a pop off the foot. They had to probably freeze it for him. He could barely skate. He's out there getting it up. Fucking Ben, bovell, she just these warriors, Corey Perry, just killing each other, going all out, man. I think one of the better games I've watched all posts. Something that got brought up and I believe it was Kevin BX on hockey night in Canada. So there was a play that ended up going behind the net. Perry's going one way and Alex talked which I thought the hit was accidental. It looked accidental to me, Dallas fans were not happy about it. So the spotter ends up calling them down the tunnel and Kevin bieksa mentioned when he was in playoffs one year that he got hit awkwardly, but it was his shoulder. But because of the way he got up and he favored his shoulder, the spotter came down because they wanted to check him out and be ex was saying, I was fucking losing my mind. I had a fucking fine, I'm fine. I'm fine, I'm fine. It was my shoulder, but no, it's the spotter's call, and I believe the same situation happened to Corey Perry. So he gets called off the bench. He wasn't happy about it. You mentioned pavelski. On the one goal he scored, stone has it. He moves it over to Schmidt, tough tough to really blame anyone. It seemed like Schmidt was able to create a load off his skate, get it to a stick and then is it being too critical where he made a soft play ends up turning it over to pavelski and then tries to make up for the mistake by getting a stick on it. Right over Leonard in the back of their net, tie game one one. A horrible bounce because you think that when you see the puck go in that slow, you want to blame a goalie, but I mean, he's sitting there and it ends up I had so many tweets about how good pavelski is at golf 'cause it literally looked like a 60° wedge that he just put right over the goal. He's such a gamer and he's probably working on it the day before when Kovan was setting up golf balls for the voice. He's like, stay away from me Adobe, I'm a plus 6. I just think that to be like, it's the second half of the second period and you got the lead in Vegas and Dallas had 6 shots. It was 22 to 6, so it's like so frustrating 'cause you can't beat this goalie. You don't play in phenomenal. You actually have a lead and they're doing nothing offensive and kind of off a turnover and you have to puck in your own zone next thing, you know, fluke Cole pavelski gets it and it's tie game. So then you're thinking, all right, we're having trouble beating this goalie. We had the lead we felt a little safe. Now it's like, we could be completely fucked and that's what turned out to be two one. I mean, I was shocked. I went into the third period thing and there'd be goals and I didn't think it would end that way, but when you do almost playing this good and you can not beat them. And the one thing you said is very true is they're getting great chances. They're getting great a opportunities, but it's kind of one and done. They're not really like, it's not a shot and then a rebound and then a complete scrum in front. It's like a grade a chance that he's saving and all of a sudden it's out of the zone. So they're going to need to really start kind of trying to crash the crease and create some sort of sustained off of his own pressure. And I know they've had plenty of shots and plenty of possession with the puck, but there's something to be said about just hammering away and like slashing at pucks that are in the crease and getting a couple goals that way. So I wonder if you go to flurry. I don't necessarily think that Leonard's been the reason that this series is three one. It's more of the goalie on the other side, but at this point, why not? So to go back to your comment about getting in front, get into the blue paint and creating that traffic in order to try to beat gudo when you see it from pavelski on the game winner. They get that power play. They set it up. They get the point shot and pavelski is right there. Leonard can not track it and who fucking who shoves it right up my hoot and the Vegas golden knights. Mister Ben. Mister fucking Jamie Ben, mister Khan smite himself. I know you got good obin locked in for that team. If this guy keeps doing what he's doing and you mentioned that veteran slugfest, I feel like these guys know that, you know, you don't get many opportunities and they can sniff it and despite how well Vegas is played I'm starting to get the sense that is it fucking Dallas is here. Did you see the clip of kebara after they give the postgame medals that every team has a little tchotchke or whatever and then he was like a big chin, he's like boys we are not going home in the fucking place when absolutely ape shit was a fucking fantastic clip, but dude, you can imagine like they've been in this bubble for two months who like the last thing you want to do you've already fucking so pot committed, man. "It's hard to completely Bank on him for season. You can say, is to go to the future, but to actually have him be the starter on a team that is looking to go to the Stanley Cup is tough, that's just how it works is dead. But there are some interesting older free-agent options in that. I mean again, halak is officially gone. That is not, he's not returning, he's not coming back. That has been announced crunch. Alan Walsh Meadow for not making a big deal out of it. You know, you just kind of, I think you tweeted it. You said it to someone so not not a huge, you know, picture of Sweeney putting a sword in the bath. La creditas crazy like that. Um, but what is interesting what is interesting is there's one named. That's right, he's not even a free agent he's it's Braden. Holtby out in Vancouver you know Vancouver wants to buy them out and that's one name that's been kicked around. Is may be a guy who come in and no absolutely not. No you don't want Braden holtby near your team. And we said this last offseason we this was people were saying this last offseason in Vancouver went and signed up to 2 years 4 million per awful. And I was looking at the stats last night every single month, Vance, even worse than you think it's worse than you think. It's like I thought he was like bottom climbing. Yeah, yeah, I think he was this horrible and I'm not going to go step-by-step because it's hard to podcast people off. This is is boring. But you can go down the line and he's bottom five in every stat, every single stat. He's bottom five in high danger. Say percentage. Granted yet he was behind a shity Canucks. Defense took. I'll give him that crappy connects defense but hellebuyck's behind a horrible or behind a bad defense in Winnipeg Thatcher. Demko wasn't terrible in Vancouver. Hope he was terrible. Hope he was so awful like the numbers if you want to go check them out. Go to Natural stat trick and look at them yourself. They're terrible. This is not a guy. You want even at a million? A million-and-a-half. I don't care that. You want a cup. A few years ago I don't care that he used to kill you whenever he play you play the Bruins, I don't care. He's not good. Stop with the whole. You know, do the Brewers are going to, you know, sweep in and get Opie on the cheek wage. No let another team. Make a stupid decision like that. Like, like they can ice skating Oliver ekman-larsson, which is also the dump and now having to dump all these hundred. Yeah no. I I was thinking about this yesterday, the Bruins being interested in that and just program to a cold sweat cuz I know the arguments going to be is that he's one. So he's better than Rask when he's been a below below replacement. Level player for eight years now like he's been dogshit. So I know that arguments coming the Bruins somehow get in the mix or there's rumors about it so whether you don't get it, he's a winner. Yeah he has a hidden 897 say percentage, his last two capitals and that's why they replaced him with uh feet Advantage. Check and Sandstone off and all those guys have the Bruins roasted in the offs, that that was a better option on it. And he'll be brought them. But Yeah, if that's a guy that's very concerning whether even if they're eating some of the cap, the Vancouver Canucks and it's a one-year deal. I don't know how you go into it cuz then you go back into the mix of is Braden..

All of these podcasts now what we have and we've also gone so deep on the weather. I feel like every broadcast. It's we go deep into the weather and kind of how unfortunate it can be and how this feel season feels so weird, but now with the Superbowl over wage, it's just it's hockey and basketball. That's what it is. It's that's all we got right now excited for spring training with the the 2021 Red Sox. I forgot about that. It's funny the spring training to me. I I love when spring training comes around cuz I usually means that spring is here and like warm weather is on the way which I always loved so having it back. I'll enjoy watching the Red Sox. I will birth. yes wretched team wretched retrogression but your Boston Bruins not so bad not even close their the top one of the top team in the NHL right now points-wise that's one of the page or Annika it's easiest at I don't have that in front of me they are tied for second with Montreal at least at the time we were recording this in Toronto jumped ahead and which you know I think they've got em games up on everyone else but also to be fair like we probably talk about this another time in terms of how these divisions are stacking up but there's some horseshit s teams and that Canadian home oh yes like and it's funny the Canucks have turned out just as we thought net Thatcher Demko has been terrible Braden holtby's been terrible like in a defense in front of them is a much better off oh no no no it's it is not it is not but you're right that Canadian division is just I mean you look at you know you have Toronto and Montreal at the top and then like going into the season. Put Montreal up with Toronto, but now after seeing them they're really good. They're very good team. Yeah, and that would have been that would have been a tough match up the Bruins this year. But then after that you've Winnipeg Edmonton Vancouver Calgary, I think those are all interchangeable with them wherever you want and then you have Ottawa. So those are not it's not a hard division by any meat know like we talked a lot about Tampa in the South just running training everyone but that leaves look more competitive than Canadian the Canadian division like yeah. Toronto is good Montreal has been very good..

"And won quite a bit different and being a bit more advanced. This is the lead researcher Dr Dan Jones today gonna backbone, which we think is a U. S. Derived backbone either locally or across the US now little is known at this point. The belief is that the vaccine so we've got will work against these as well. But they say that the more study needs to be done to confirm that this is the co author, Dr Peter Mueller. And he says, they got a lot. They've got to learn, not ready, tow overreact. We want to make sure that we study these in the lab that we get really good data and that so far we know that our vaccines are very likely effective against this very interest well, but it's important that we keep our eye on these so what they says. It hadn't been changing much early on, and that was good for the vaccine development, Dr Jones Oh says that is changing now that we are now in a period where the virus is changing quite substantially. So this is why we're concerned and And it links that you findings that we report today and the concern being If this goes on long enough that it continues to mutate, it could eventually mutate the honest it tries to stay alive beyond with the vaccine conduce, we're not. They don't think to that point yet, but long term if it's allowed to continue running, and we can't get a handle on it. That would be the long term problem. And even now they do worry. That some of these mutations might not respond to the monoclonal antibody treatments that they've got in place. And it may impact those good for the vaccine. They think that they were still in pretty good shape. Yeah, And if they keep morphing is this kind more transmissible? They don't know yet. They're looking into that because the UK variant they believe it is the South African variant. They believe it is his well this maybe they say that this is still very early on. They haven't published their findings yet. They've got it. Look more into this. They don't know how widespread it already is. They found it in Ohio. It may go well beyond Ohio, they say, and they don't know if it speeds up transmission. They've got to figure that out now. But all of these mutations it's expected you again. The virus is trying to survive. So it's constantly mutating. But at the same time they've got to watch it and make sure it doesn't mutate and beyond. Even right now, that is not mutating beyond that, how we know how to fight it. Meanwhile, where do we stand today? With the virus? Well, you know, Virtually still states like California that the numbers are not good. And the new numbers in that today 589 more people dead in California today in the past 24 hours 34,000 new positive cases. So you know the numbers continue in the hard hit states right now, where the surgeons are being seen to not be good, but there are states. That are beginning to open up more of the vaccine, New Jersey today, saying smokers can now get the vaccine opening that up because that's considered a high risk group. The first state to say OK, all smokers can come and get it. California today opening way up and saying anybody over 65 years old can now get the vaccine. So logistically there's still some issues in everybody over 65 no matter where they live, finding a place to get it, But things are beginning that to loosen up now to get the vaccine.
