"Loans. So the state attorneys general are trying to prove that the debt relief program would mean less profit for those state based agencies. But earlier this week, a judge dismissed the case, saying that the case did not have standings. So that just means the plaintiffs were unable to demonstrate concrete harm to these companies. Then help us understand why this ruling came down from the 8th circuit Court of Appeals last night. So this ruling is not a full stop by any means. This is a temporary hold while the appeals court gets briefed on the case. I spoke to some past sources and the immediate aftermath of the decision, and they assured me, this hole does not have anything to do with the merit of the case. It's a procedural hold rather than a ruling of any kind. So while this does put a pause on any immediate loan relief, this is not a fatal shot to the program by any means. What happens next? So now we wait for the appeals court to get acquainted with the case and make their decision. It should be a pretty quick turnaround. We should know more by Monday or Tuesday. And if the court issues an injunction then the pauses extended and we wait some more. And if it dismisses the case, then the program is back on track to begin any day now. And the program was getting underwear, wasn't it? Yes. We've known the details for a while since August, but the application officially opened this week. But it was already pretty big yesterday in a speech at Delaware state university, President Biden said more than 22 million borrowers had already submitted applications, which is a huge number. That's more than half of all qualifying borrowers. And the administration had said they could start changing loan balances as early as Sunday. So that is now on hold. And borrowers just have to wait. Is there something people who have student loan debt should be doing right now? So last night, education secretary Miguel cardona issued a statement, saying the court order does not prevent the administration from reviewing the millions of applications they've received. In his words, they're moving full speed ahead to be ready to deliver relief to borrowers who need the help. He encouraged Americans to continue to apply. So if you've already applied for forgiveness, you've kind of done all you can. If you haven't applied yet, the application is still very much open on student aid dot gov slash debt relief, and it takes less than 5 minutes. So may as well fill it out if you qualify. You know, I'm somewhere in the middle, I'm not that interesting to them. We worked on this because everybody wants to know, and for 15 years, every day, someone asks me why, am I always attacked at every picnic and why are my children ignored? Why is my husband ignored? And so we decided to really attack it and do the science. What's the short answer? Short answer is high levels of carboxylic acids on your skin, carboxylic acids are that natural moisturizer that we all have that keeps our skin barrier healthy. So do we make ourselves a magnet when we slather sun cream on or something? And so they love humans. They specialize on humans. They don't care about animals. And the way we did this is we involve pantyhose. So this is a big pantyhose experiment. We had people wear nylon stockings on their arms. We cut those smelly nylons into little pieces and use them as bait, and then asked hungry female mosquitos to choose between nylon number one and nylon number two. We did over 2500 contests in this big tournament to identify the most attractive person of them all. The way you describe it, there's no way out. I mean, if you're just born that way, you're born that way. I don't know if that's comforting news. I think for the people who are magnets, at least you know that you have more carboxylic acids, and that's the reason why. Yeah, once you know this part of the puzzle, if I might put it this way, maybe people can develop some kind of treatment, something as simple as a repellent or maybe just, I don't know, a series of inoculations that people might take. You're on the right track, so I think that that's why the basic science is important is that until you figure out what it is, you can't figure out how to do the next step. So carboxylic acid levels really mean that you're going to be a magnet, so let's reduce them. Maybe a skin cream that will change the chemistry of your skin. That's according to the U.S. bureau of labor statistics. The Atlanta business chronicles crystal edmondson has more. Earlier this year in February, Atlanta wages increased 6 and a half percent compared to the same time last year. Fast forward to the end of summer and wage growth was just one and a half percent. In recent months, companies have grown more cautious, government statistics show at nearly 12% inflation in metro Atlanta is higher than the national average. And the possibility of a recession next year has some businesses backing away from higher pay despite the still competitive job market. Well, not every city is seeing the same results, Augusta ranked in the top ten for wage growth posting a 7% increase from last year. The administration is encouraging people to apply by November 15th, though the deadline isn't until the end of next year. President of Delaware state university, which is a historically black college is expressing outrage after a bus of his lacrosse players was stopped and searched in Georgia. It happened at the end of last month when sheriff's deputies pulled over the bus as it traveled back home from a game in Florida. Their bus was initially stopped for an alleged traffic violation, but it then turned into a search for drugs. Members of the lacrosse team say they were being racially profiled. Police cam video of the incident was released. The reason why I was talking to a left lane violation. This is the moment liberty county sheriff's deputies pulled over a bus of women's lacrosse players last month. After talking to the driver, the sheriff's deputy pokes his head into the bus. Ladies, how are y'all doing? When he returns to the car, he makes this remark to a fellow deputy. There's a bunch of things schoolgirls on the bus as far as some weed. Maybe. The deputies then informed the driver, they're going to cirque the luggage under the bus. One deputy brings out a drug sniffing dog. They return to the bus to explain what's happening. There are times where we end up finding some children that are missing from their family. We find large amounts of money that nobody knows anything about. Okay? But large amounts of cocaine marijuana heroin methamphetamines, anything like that, okay? If there is anything in your luggage, we're probably going to find it. Okay? I'm not looking for a little bit of marijuana, but I'm pretty sure you guys are chaperoned is probably going to be disappointed in you if we find any. The deputies proceed to search the bags going through the women's personal belongings. At one point, they pull out a wrapped gift. What is that? Your aunt gave it to you? You don't know what it is? I didn't open it. I was going to go back to school. No, what did she tell you it was? She didn't tell me anything. Okay, where did you where did you get it from? In Georgia. We're going to open it. Okay. And we're going to find out exactly what it is. But however, this is, this is the type of stuff that we look for. After around 20 minutes of searching, the deputies find no contraband. All right, ladies, thank you. We're going to get out of here and you guys enjoy the rest of your trip. At a press conference yesterday, sheriff William Bowman said multiple vehicles were stopped that morning, and that his deputies followed the rules. The deputy informed the passages that the search would be completed. This is the same protocol that is expected to be used no matter the race, gender, age, or destination or the passenger. He later said this. No personal items on the bus or person were searched. The president of Delaware state university, Tony Allen says the incident has left him incensed. He said, quote, we do not intend to let this or any other incident like it pass idly. We are prepared to go wherever the evidence leads us. We have video. We have allies. Perhaps more significantly, we have the coverage, excuse me, the courage of our convictions. It was. And totally unnecessary. I hope those officers that participated in that farce moves their jobs. I don't advocate unemployment, but they deserve to be unemployed. And moves their right to carry badge and a handgun anywhere in the state for the country. They deserve that. Well, I chose that clip because it tended to have more of the body cam footage. In the debates around the use of body cams and you've seen most departments have a policy where they give some leeway to officers to be able to shut body cameras off, depending on the situation. And we've already seen situations where it's questionable why they turn certain certain cameras off at certain times, right? I for one feel like they shouldn't have that option at all. No, I feel like there should be a way to remotely arm and trigger these cameras so that they're running throughout the shift. And then shut down when their shift is over. And then if they do things like cover the camera with something, then they have to explain themselves as to as to why. I just think that would be a better practice. In my view. Well, some of the cameras, I think some of the earlier cameras used to activate automatically when they got out of the car. And officers still cover cameras with a piece of tape or something, and they just claim camera malfunction. Well, that in I think that technology is now at the point where we can, you know, they should be streaming through the cloud, which they probably do. I don't know, you know, especially with them trying to roll out 5G now. And so I've heard excuses were the onboard storage gets filled up and they have to change cards out and things like that. There's all kinds of things, you know, there's redundancy if they can shoot to the cloud and like I said, trigger the cameras remotely. There's a number of things that can be done. But in this particular case, they were rolling on that. And yet it didn't really matter. We're still going to that we're going to violate people's rights..
