"Your attitude makes you treat people like shit because you're basically just don't feel good and that's I don't think life should be like that if you can get out of it. I just think I mean it's one thing to be a tough guy off. Just tough through. It comes a point where you just WanNa good. You just want to feel normal. You know dude when you own at four or five six or seven. Whatever is constant it does attitude and not for the better. Yeah Hey on ending. No work and people find you whether social media your website. Youtube Channel and everything. That's going on with Brian. Digging and digging family. Yeah for sure you know. We have a lot of channels out there and social media but basically. It's just if you look Brian Deegan. That's my instagram facebook. Basically the majors. The deacons is the name of our Youtube Channel. If you really want to know who we are and keep up on what. We're doing daily. The deacons is kind of like documentary. That like alive documentary of our life every day. We're putting out videos. That are very current of what we're doing Throughout our life if you WANNA keep up with us that's a great way or like I said my social media is just my name Brian Regan and or you follow my kids. I you know Haley. Degan heathen Degan Hudson Degan. It's danger boy is is Heathens and he's got his own story. We gotta get him on some time He. Yeah Yeah Yeah Right. It's about building brands. Hey that's what I learned in life. You got to build the brand and In anyway I've been very fortunate in life though to be able to build brands in Bill. Business around hanging out with my family. That's been my goal. Yes I could probably make more money if I went down and say corporate road of trying to build just one thing and be at work every day but I feel like I've been able to follow my family in stay involved with them because the end of the day like we say when that that near death experience that I've had I've had a few times I had one where a helicopter hit me in the blade. Hit my arm in the next blade hit. Hit My helmet in. But it just missed my neck. So I've had a few close calls where I thought life and I said Okay when I'm in my you know of or bearing me. Who's GonNa be there and who's going to be there with my family and I think that's the that's the facts in you know you're GonNa have for sure your family is going to be there and and so like if I can spend more time with my family than I feel like I'm winning. I feel like that's that's for me success to me and I get a lot of people all my kids. Don't want to hang out with me or my kids. Don't WanNA listen to me or you know and I said you know what to me. That's not the case like my kids. I respect them. They respect me and and I I give them goals to shoot four. I'm very there's days I have to be disciplined. Have to be hard on them. It it sucks hurts me like I don't want to discipline my kids. But you have to you because you're punishing them long term. If you don't so I feel like these are things that I'm learning through life in like I said I feel successful because I get to hang out with my family and yes we make a living off it because we build brands on around it. So the podcast which like I said they basically turned into something that I thought was as much cooler than what I thought it was going to be I thought okay this is. It opened the door for me to have good conversations. A good people and I think it's interesting. So if you guys log onto video Egan's it's a podcast. One Apple podcast is now on spotify. Which is actually pretty cool because we got bugged about that for a long time and I said I don't run that side of the business but it is good now so anyway check it out. It's our podcast is doing really well and I say that. Not just on numbers but it's doing well because people are getting something out of it like. I try to basically help people with certain scenarios of their life through the podcast and I think so. I think it's succeeding. I think it's doing what I wanted to do. And I'm always open for suggestions if you WANNA leave and my comments all my social media anywhere like you can go on my. I check my instagram. Obviously every day if you went on there and leave comments kate. I really interested in this subject. I'd like to know about this if you could maybe answer this question. I think it will start doing that. More so Like I'm accessible and I think that that's cool so if I can help anyone in any way I'm.

"Just got finished talking about what is the mindset man when when you say hey man I'm GonNa take off and go do this but ain't nobody ever done it before and you guys just out in the desert ain't got no medical people that's a different mindset. Yeah it is and I think it's calculated risk. You know you like to think that you're good enough to to to to land those jumps in you have enough skill set. But there's so many times in so many jumps just line up and you don't know how it's GonNa end you know and I look back at it now. I'm older all my hand. I can't believe you but it's a mindset that you get in that I think it's probably the same mindset you compare to other sports you know Or compared to like say you and you get in the ring and there's a crowd cheering you. Just get a different energy right. There's a different mindset energy and I always thought why are we the guys here and there you know. There's a big crowd of people. Why are the ones down here? And there's the crowds watching us you know always used to think that like but it's a different mindset you have and you like to think it's because you're so skilled and you're going to be able to pull off every trick every stunned but it doesn't. I think you're willing to take the risk you're willing to. You're willing to get hurt in your willing to deal with the consequences and I think that's was the difference between US and other writers and I think yes. There came a point where I'm like man. There's no ambulance here and as I got older. I'm trying. I'M NOT GONNA take that risk today because Amazon or we go to different countries and I'd look at the hospitals. I'd be like this hospital. Save Jeremy was he. He was in a country. Third World country. Costa Rica. You know and and He went to A. I wasn't there when that injury happened. But he hit his head and ended up having brain swelling and they went to a hospital. That was like when I went down there to see him like that right when it happened. We flew down there and we went in. This hospital is holes in the walls and blood everywhere and I was like crazy. I'm like man. This is just not like anything you do within America so that made me look at going to countries going okay. How good is their medical. How good is how much risk do I really wanNA take in this country? And then I started saying no to certain events so it's nine going to that country. It's not worth it to me like. I'M GONNA end up getting hurt and going to a hospital in who knows what's going to happen anyway. That's how I started as I got older starts. He now started. Be trying to be wiser but it's a different mindset. No this games and having that really bad crash when did you decide? Hey it's time to back down and maybe oh here's opportunity get into four wheels. Because I got a chance to talk with Jeremy McGrath from Asia Relationship. A few times and he kind of knew when it was his time to segue out was at the end for you. Or when did you know? Hey it's time to do something else. Yeah it was right around the end of the probably like it was. Oh seven eight. When I started going me I'm going to X. Games. I'm kind of scared to do the big tricks now kind of win at x Games and you know that that I had my last big Hurrah. When I did the first three sixty at Summer Games won the gold medal. Didn't overpay Stran- Pastrana. There's a big hype that weekend that he was going to do this new trick. I saw him do it on the Internet and I pulled it before he did so. I gotta claim it and then anyway that was a big that was probably my highlight. That was the biggest highest moment of my free. Cell career. And then that's when I went to win a few months later tried the three sixty crash. One hundred foot ice jumped went didn't rotate through the bike and they went four stories. Down to flat is shattered. My hip and ten spots both risk internal bleeding. That was the big one I had that kind of. Okay this is like you know this is kind of your last. Hurrah you know on the road started going downhill from there and then when I came to some games I can't remember what year it was by. Remember watching him. He says I'M GONNA do a double backflip. I'm like no way. Do you like this is going to be like I can't I? There's GonNa be gnarly so I look at the ramp street a huge and I remember talking to him in the back room and the cafeteria. Like do you really. Have you done a double backflip? He's like yeah at home. You know do it in the foam or he's I got it. I got this and I was looking as Mamas Mamas in tears and my just. It's like I say I'm and I I'm out like this. I'm not doing that and at that point. I doubt that was kind of the my career moment where I'm like. The sport has gone to another level that I'm not willing to go to ten years ago. Yeah Okay what I wish would have happened. I don't know if I really do but at the end of the day is foam. Foam pits came about. I learned a backflip before foam. Pit The air bags. The air bags of coming to the sport. Now that's Travis Pastrana's brought to his nitro circus tour big big applause. Chavis he employees so many writers gives back to the sport and he has a safety of a airbag on the landing and he's made it normal to where fans are okay with watching writers land on airbag. Good good because hey that's safer. What I'm saying is if I had that back in the day when when I didn't care if I got hurt when I wanted to be the man if they had airbags back then Dang I just can't imagine where this would have gone but they came later and I'm glad the sport is elevated to that and I think it's super important but freecell motocross. You know I look at. I was just on my way here. Car went in Carl's junior freestyle motocross picture on the wall. And I'm like so cool. We started at movement. You know a cool talking to one of the guys started. How is it that most of you guys ended up to make you guys from all over the place but to make eulogised always seem to come to mind? Yeah I never planned on leaving into Macula. I didn't even know much about it when I came to California like I lived in San Bernardino when I first came out here. I ended up in Canyon Lake which was kind of the party. Hotbed for Moto. Mcgrath lived on the lake and all the modal guys like it turned into party central at Canyon Lake. That was like right by Lake Elsinore and then there came a point where I was like man. I can't live this lifestyle. Everyday people were stopped by my house every day with like a case of beer dude. I'm like finally I cannot do this anymore. And so I went moved into Macula where that's where Larry lived. He had he had property. They're launching a year. I went down there many years ago. To ride in the dirt was really good. And when you're a Moto guy you buy a house based upon the dirt you don't buy it upon like the area like eh you like. How good is the dirt? If the dirt's and dry and you don't want it like basically you sean. If it's sandy and soft good soil. Those are the house is you WanNa buy because you can build awesome tracks. And that's what I did to make about this valley piece of Valley Properties Sandy Trees and it was just awesome for Moto. We built our free Cell Park there. And that's why admitted temecula tomato blew up. It's like huge like it's growing so fast right now that I'm like do I really want to stay in Temecula because it's gone turned into a city now but I ended up building a house In Morgan Cal Morganson North Carolina. Because I know we're GONNA end up there for Healy's racing NASCAR central. But I'm like oh I don't want to be on Lake Norman. Because that's kind of the lakes pretty green and dirty Lake James beautiful a crystal blue real country town. My wife hates it. 'cause it's only a walmart in town but For me I'm like it's such a cool getaway Not gave us a boat sits on the water we go out there. The the huge motorcross facilities. Why we moved there. My Buddy. One of our best friends Really really good family. That my son races against They own a motocross facility. There in so and it works out good but my point is back to a place where there's not a lot of people in But I have to be in southern California. Still do my business. This is that for me this where I make money how to make a living so I until I figured out a way to make a living NASCAR. I'm still going to be in southern California. How long you've been to make it a little bit too close. Since I'd say ninety nine probably I'd say yeah so right now the North Carolina's get away. Yeah it's kind of is. It is the getaway but we yeah it is for sure. Whatever pull the plug on Kelly Eagle Song Hotel California? You can check out but you can never leave. Yeah Yeah I think right now you go down the list of brands that I have and sponsors. We have they're all southern California I Love Salad. Nothing Beats Southern California in the winter for Moto like it's the Best I love it. I love that when it rains you wake up in the morning and that smell of of the wet dirt and the grass in you just can't beat I'm addicted to like I would love it. I love getting on a dirt bike. I love going riding whether it's with my kids or even by myself. It's my stress reliever some days. I'll be so stressed and so angry just over everything business in my list. I can't get my list done and I just load up my dirt bike and I go to the track go out in the field in Iran Madrid by and honestly being one hundred percent different mindset. When I get home I just. I'm not what it does. It's probably going to the gym or you know punching bag. I don't know but it definitely is therapy for me so I think I really just love southern California for the winners and I'm business businesses. Get there until I find a business. That's going to do just as good and east coast. I don't think I'll leave. I think we're always going to be a part of southern California. You know and last but not least because I know you've got a busy schedule. Healthwise with all of the injuries that you had been watching some buddies just smoked just and just do walk it all for your arm hanging in black at with other repairs that you've got going on and I'll always talked to guys from my line of work and hey man how you doing after you know after so many years. Yeah how are you on a one to ten? Because I know you're NAVID trainer. You take your fitness very seriously now are maybe now for some years back in the day. Maybe not so much it was at youth. Any ADRENALIN testosterone. Our you on a one to ten as far as one being very little pain ten being a lot I would say Probably somewhere between five and six or seven. I've had I've had my bad bad days. I have my good days. I have days where two two or three you know. I definitely have to say but you know I wake up in the morning. I pretty stiff broke a lot of bones. I still got most of the metal taken. Outta me which I had at one point. I could barely walk. Move my arm. That's it I went in. I did a lot of studying on health and having meddling body I had them.

"Candidates for the job. Ziprecruiter the the smartest way to hire your religious person right. Yep but were you always no no now. Did you find religion? I knew told the story of times but that bad crash was at Obama. Gears When you were trying to do you. Land on your handlebars seen him. A few times you live through it. Yeah come body. Parts who Is that when you found got? Yeah so you know. I grew up in religion. I grew up. My Dad was Catholic in our family was Catholic and it was kind of weird because they always the vibe was. If you weren't Catholic it was a problem and I always felt that was kind of weird about religion so it kind of made me push away. And we'd go to church on Sundays We'd sit in a pew and I'm just honest. It was so boring. Guy would like sit in a Catholic Church views and I'd be like couldn't wait to get out of there. You know in a fortunately I just you know. It's unfortunate that that was just my bring and so I pulled away from religion you know as I started doing somewhat across started racing racing's on Sundays so I quit going to church really didn't have choo genuine love for for going to church and so I went to California and I was. I didn't really wasn't into it wasn't into really religion and then I went to California. I'd met my girlfriend and my wife. Her family was Christian and yet. I know this is like kind of go to church and I'll singing and yelling. I always kind of taught like that was like we're the Weirdos. Were kind of be honest like I was in Indiana so theatrical and so and then I went and I was like I don't know I don't know and then All these kind of was in or out of it. Kinda wanted to be a part of it kind of didn't and then I went to a lot of bad crashes and it was a moment where I went to Viva la Bam for MTV. Did A backflip in the win. Which I didn't WANNA do. Tv was like hey we gotta get shot. Let's go let's go and I was like it's really windy. I don't know and they said well. Let's do I thought I'd take the challenge? I flip in the wind really really windy. Under rotate the flip handlebar pushes my stomach really hard under rotated and it didn't the end of the bargain stabbed me. It was just the blunt force of the way the bars curve up by the bar pad hit me under the ribs and shattered my kidney and spleen and I went to the ground I felt like Sunday never felt before my stomach was on fire. Felt like I got shot like shotgun in my stomach. Go Way usually goes away after a few minutes and you can tough it out. But I'm like was getting worse and that's when I started getting scared. No medics on the scene and I started turning yellow my skin my stomach was enlarged enlarging by by the second and I just I was like. Please get an ambulance and they finally got an ambush. There was like almost a half hour to forty five minutes. I don't know how he made it because I ended up tearing my artery off my kidney off my artery in a win in the went to the hospital. Emergency surgery exploratory the poll. My organs outlay one after another to see what's wrong but before I went into surgery. The doctor leaned over me and I just remember was an Indian doctor and I just remember looking at them any and he says I don't know what's wrong. We'RE GONNA WE'RE GONNA do everything we can. He says I'm do everything I can. In which he was dead serious. He was straightforward like. Hey I don't know if you're GONNA make it basically and he's because my blood pressure was very very faint. I had very barely had polls in on the way and I just remember as chewing my mouth chew my tongue to my lips like China stay awake because I wanted to fall asleep in because I know how many blood pressure and I just knew I was gonna I like it really right now over dirt bike crashing and I started thinking about my wife my daughter my family my funeral And then I remember the doctor leaning over me saying hey. Is there anything you want to tell your family? And that's when I was like Whoa I go. This is crazy. I'm going to die you know and I said I said tell. My Love is so my family I love him and I just remember thinking at that point. I said please God. If you real like into church I've been there I've been in and out. Please guide if you're real. I'm done I'm done being bad. I'm giving my heart to Christ and I'm not going to turn back and I'm GonNa just WanNa live. I just WanNa live and I just unfortunate. That's what it took for me to see the see the importance of Gaden in the religion but it was a moment of like am. I GonNa live or die in it. Took that moment for me to go. Yeah I don't WanNa die and I wanna live and I wanna live a better life and I want to if I was GONNA die. I want to go to heaven. I don't want I don't want to take that risk. That risk of like okay. If it's real or if it's not okay so you that moment comes you're like me. They're going to black out or I'm going to end up somewhere that the Bible spoke about in. I'm going to be in massive regret. Never be able to turn back. So what are you? What is your loss really a? You know what I'm saying like when I when I when I woke up I was like thank God. I'm a woke up out of surgery tubes everywhere in my family. Was there next to me. They were in California. They flew out to the east coast. That's how long I was in surgery. Twelve hours and they said okay. You lost your kidney exploded off your artery. We don't know how you survived. You're already was pumping all your blood out. It's not normal to live for an hour with your artery severed and they said we had a piece of your kidney was lodged in your artery. You said something you you very very lucky that you survive this and I just remember like I made that commitment in through the hospital for many weeks in the hospital of flying home and I remember getting home in in my friends or calling in the militia all this. I lived right in the middle of it Freestyle Park in my house that time. And I'm like man. I made this commitment eh in I went to Church. I did I give myself. I give my life to Christ you know I said okay. I'm going to be a born again. Christian whatever that means however that walk is is is GonNa Happen. I'm doing it and I and I did it. But you know life happens right and I started having to surround myself with people that can help me without walk in mainly family. I just had to pull the family and closer and pushing out people. That didn't want to be a part of that. Unfortunately it sounds bad but when I get into that walk you need to surround yourself with the people that are walking in the same direction you are in. There will come a point where okay. I've been in the walk long enough. It never gets easy. I had things pulled me from all directions to stop and go away but From that but there came a point where you become strong enough in it that you see life changing experiences and you see your family growing from that you're like you know what. Okay now I can start pointing people that are not Christian and maybe helping them or maybe helping them with their walker and that happened. That's when Jeremy Lusk was one of our writers that was a rebel dude in ended up giving his life to Christ through. You know which was after my best friend Ronnie. Feis who who was another rebel dude? I can go down the list of the GNARLY bad things. He's done just like me and in a WOK got his first. Bible like I would have never done that when I was younger. In a it changed his life he went from this duty. Did a complete one eighty in is A. He's a preacher. Now I never would have. No one ever thought that right but he lives a good life. He has a wife. He's in love with treat each other like cheap girl so bad like we all did our deal like you know. And until we learn to respect and have respect for others and all the things through the through the Bible and I never was a big Bible thumper I never walk around and said. Oh this is what you need to do. I just figured live. By example in that was the best way to do and I feel like that helped me. I feel like that has what's helped me be. Why am today like I'm not saying I'm perfect? Nowhere near I've messed up all the time I still. I still like a mess a lot of times. I'm still cuss at times. It's still silly things that are not right but you know what every day. I'm trying to get down that better path and that's what it says it's just about it's about You know you're not perfect right. None of us are but he is and that was the whole thing I had to learn. You know in you know it's helped raise my kid's in the right atmosphere and helped keep my marriage together. You know I'll be honest. My wife had some very bad days like most marriages in an honest scared to say you know I've had many moments. Where like dude? We're getting divorced or we're we're I don't want to be with you. Don't WanNa be with me and I said you know what with the with that bond of like. Hey we got married became one in Christianity. Going to church on the weekends helps helped you know build a foundation that we're like okay. There's more than us. It's not just about US anymore. I felt like when I started talking about divorce or start. I'm like man I could go party. I do this. I can do that then. I thought about it. I'm like dude really like Like you've already done all that like really your satisfaction and mean no bigger satisfaction. Right now is coming from seeing my kids succeed. You know and so I'm like when I see my friends who don't WanNa have kids. They want to get married. I'm like man you're missing like when you're younger cool. Whatever like there comes a point where you're like man. Life TURNS INTO IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY. And it's meant to be that. I I feel it's meant to be that that that bond and it's meant to have kids you're meant to have those relationships and I don't know it's just what I've learned over the years. Hey man when I was watching the videos from L. You guys on Youtube and a lot of guys that you use name you know along with Mike Jones Twitch Carey Hart Larry Mickey Diamond. I got a big let down it. Yoga Masters From and how was how other than that. I think it kind of explains lifestyle because again. I'm not drawing a parallel to pro wrestling center a lot of similarities. Just as far away. How wild was the scene? Did you ever get out of control? Yeah I'd say In America you know there was an initial have laws and rules and all that I'd say it's you don't America. We have a moment there you know it was at x Games Summer X Games in. I think it was man. It was back east Trying to think it was in the Mid West in I had basically. We're out partying this at a party. Night four we're all wrestling each other drunk drinking and fighting and I got interesting match with the guy and he ended up being undercover caught. It was Cleveland Cleveland. And I'm Jay over the now. Mike Data was Kinda lame. 'cause I'm like no I didn't know and then next thing he's like oh you're arrested. I'm like no he's like cuffs me and I'm like busy NGO and I missed the whole event. Everyone's like waiting for me to compete. And I'm like in the local jail. It was definitely learning lesson. It was just guys being dumb and you know no one got hurt but then the day I did I was like man that was done and I look back at those things and I'm like man bad decisions and wrong place wrong time but anyway it was mainly when you go overseas. I feel like we traveled to so many countries and in there were so many different places that the sauce this like Almost like this the status when you come into town like they've never seen before they watch you on the videos. He turned into this kind of like rock star status. And you can kind of do whatever you want and go and we were like we got crazy overseas like pretty much like the things you see like guns n. Roses the motley crue did go to bed. I am sharing. So when did you guys because as I was telling you before we start enrolling the sound here? I've always been a fan of the brand. Just I'm big into skulls just love. The artwork is cool stuff to me so win. Did you hook up or become friends with or acquaintances with Larry? Winkle yes our you guys now. Yeah true I mean it is a big part of my life. You know as a relationship I've had you know We met at a local motocross check. Perris raceway I think it was back in a on. It was the nineties in. It was kind of where I was. Almost on. My outs of motocross was kind of on my way out where I realized I wasn't going to get a ride. He was already over everyone. You know he later. I later down the road figuring out he you know. He came from a family that they're well off so he really he. He was okay. He could be the rebel guide. You know what I'm saying like for me I still had to like. I was going to pay the bills but I was kind of intrigued by his his attitude. And because I was angry at the time we kind of clicked and he had a big writing facility at his house and so I was able to go there and ride my dirt bike. And you know it was able to do freestyle their supercross there so he had some cool things for us to do there and I didn't. I didn't have access to that. And so you know. We came friends in wherever we started. The brand may know the medal of brand and I think ninety nine was a year we filed for the LLC and started slinging shirts all the garage spray painting t shirts and you know and the brand started growing and then X. Games hit and then it's blowing up. Every kid wanted a militia hat and shirt. How are we going to do that? And so we ended up trying to sell old out of a shop and we were just horrible. I we'RE MESSING UP SO BAD. But they came to a point where started making millions of dollars. And we're like dude. We're on to something here and we got it was. Someone's gotTa take this brand and do it right and that's when we license it to La Hoya. They ran lakes. O.`Neil surfin some other brands and and they took it and that's when it took off and blew up and that's when it allowed us and gave us income and allowed us to. Do you know a sponsor other riders. Help young kids coming up. Bill JUMP PARKS. Give back to the sport. That was a big part of it. And we've had we're business partners and we had definitely had our ups and downs. You had our moments where we just hate each other because we didn't see eye to eye inches you now as we got older and a lot of people think we sold the brand. Unfortunately there just came a point where the Trans go up and down in the Trans went down in the flat build hats and black socks black dicky's and all that stuff went out went out of style at some point right. Some guys still rocket living right but hey to think we started a trend like there's been trans every decade trans. Come in and come and go and and I think we started a tran. We started a movement of that whole. You know the nine nine look they call it but even now we can laugh back at it but but then it was serious. Everyone ran it. It was a big movement you know and I thought that was cool to be a part of that but yeah I mean there's still business partners. We still own the militia. I just put my focus on my family for a long time and now I'm trying to get back to kind of keep the brand live because I think it's got heritage. There was a point where I got offered millions of dollars to sell my portion of it and I said you know what it's just been a piece of me it's tattooed all over me and I said I'm just going to hang onto it. Even though I kick myself at times right I think and I could have this much more in the bank or my kids could be doing this or it could be retired and hey I look at. It is a piece of history for me. I didn't want it to get in someone else's hands. And they tell a story the wrong way in Austin portray the militia to be something is not so I just said you know we're hanging onto it and if it goes it goes down and doesn't make any money ever again. I don't care because it is not about the clothing sales. It was always about a group. There's always about a rebel group of guys in. It was always about this movement of Action. Sports in in in so the clothing was just a bonus that was just. Hey I represent Mariah and I'm rippin militia so yeah we right now. I am trying to get it back just saw. The T shirts hoodies. Hats are selling good enough just to keep. The brand alive is far as the clothing brand. So we're doing that now on metal much dot com. It's still sells. It's still doing fine so good I just haven't put my heart and soul into it because I don't have the time. This is like busy with my kids. But it's it's still there I- ridler Lynn Kobuk. A couple years ago and my memory is notoriously bad. Everybody knows that but he really got it. Got Some in a bad place for a long time. I understand he's back into fitness. We had an accident yet helicopter blade or whatever you're doing so he's pretty cool right now right yeah he. He's fine he has a he has a son he just got remarried. I think I'm not sure but I think he married actress from Chicago Fire. I don't know for a fact but I know he married got remarried and we we talk probably once a week now. Like about business in this that. I think we're on good terms because we're we're family guys. Were too old to be mad anymore to me like arguing you know so anyway. I know I. I have respect for him. For being a part of the militia in being through those errors he went through a gnarly phase in his life for sure way deeper than I. Just gotTa do that for me. I always had to keep moving as athlete. I had to keep making money because if I felt like if I ever got too far down that dark path of drugs in in That lifestyle I. I didn't. I don't know who would pay my bills so I always had that problem of like. Hey I am that good problem. I can't ever get too deep on that. You know so so anyway. He definitely had had some moments dark times but now seems to be doing fine and he pulled out of it so it's good so what was a story because you guys are starting to ride. Hey Man we've got a call ourselves something I go Kay. Let's call Mount Militia. Here's my question that wasn't answered and Larry's book that I've had a couple of years ago. Did you guys Miss Bell militia purpose or was it the perfect accidental misspelling. I honestly like think about it and I think it was probably tried to sell right. Someone's trying to stall it right and if I end up stone it wrong L. I. S. H. A. And you and you know. Yeah Yeah but not. That wouldn't abilities cool now. I know now I think I think it was probably just an accident and tell you the truth. Who knows end of the day? Now that I've been studying marketing and branding you look at the World Today. Every good trademarks taken right. Every WORD IS SPELT. The right way that that has has something to do with a brand or trademark. Now you notice all these brands coming out that are spelt wrong right but are they really spelt wrong right now. This vocabulary is changing these days. And so the the all these new brands are coming out are so unique. And I think we're ahead of our time right militia like it was spelt wrong. What was cool is there was never any trademark infringement. Because it was spilt wrongly spelt it militia. Wrong you're definitely impinging. Our trademark like that was turned out.

"This is the Steve Austin. Show Gimme a hell. Yeah yeah now. Here's Steve Austin already working with Stevo and show coming to even the main streets in Los Angeles California tucked away in a little neighborhood Marina del Rey here at the Broken Skull Studio Man. What a weekend it was for me had a great time going down to Anaheim make an appearance at the monster. Jam Show hanging out with some of the drivers and watching some of the best drivers in the world to drive. Oh Dang monster trucks man when you get four wheel drive fifteen hundred horsepower. A bunch of dirt. Some ramps jumps all kinds of things for those guys to do. It is absolutely amazing. I go back to my monster truck days when I was Kinda just Meghan. Appearance is not doing anything on the competitive level and trucks are just nothing but pure adrenaline rush and of course now. That technology has spun up. So F- much. The trucks are at a much higher level than they were away back today. So what a pleasure to get out. It rained a little bit on us but just a great time was had by all and I got a chance to go out there and talk in front of the people. I got a chance to kick off the show. GotTa chase drive out a Kawasaki. K R X one thousand the baddest side by side on the planet thing is built like a tank built to last and I wrote out there and started hauling ass and bloom baseball cap off and a stop did a u-turn picked up my cap cut a doughnut and went back up to the Podium to get my interview own and then rolled off and waved everybody in the crowd and give a big shout out to the Kawasaki Section. All their employees came down to see the show so a massive jam. It was a it was a good thing and a good show to see. You guys did a great job that show on. Hey with that being said I got a great show for you today. My guest today is one of the. Oh Gee guys from the freestyle motocross world from back in the day when when I say back today. I don't mean that far back just into the mid late nineties when you know Brian Deegan. Kinda came on the scene him and some of his cohorts. And we'll get into some of those names here on a podcast but going back to you know when they formed the metal militia and Brian Deegan kind of went off and did his own thing and came out here from Nebraska and a pickup truck with two motorcycles in a credit card in his back pocket and he didn't have much money and he got on the racing circuit found freestyle motocross. And this guy who's been very successful at every endeavor he's taken on and it's Due to a lot of hard work but also to a lot of mental work and This Guy Studies people that have been successful and studies. What they do and how they do it. And then it applies that to his brand building techniques and You know he's got. His son is in Motocross racing his daughter. Hayley DEEGAN IS ON NASCAR trading circuit. She just eighteen She's got a little ways to go. We'll see if she makes it into that next Level of competition Brian's been doing the trophy truck. I guess that's what they call them east to the rally cars Guys busy as hell everywhere you look. That's where they are at got a very popular youtube channel. And we'll talk about that all podcast. We're talking about his humble beginnings and all the All the things that they're going it's the Degan family man. They are busiest hill and He's got those kids going and they know work and they have a work ethic and they they're goal driven and so they're finding a lot of success and that success comes with a lot of hard work and a lot of due diligence. Brian Digging is my guest. We talk here for a little bit. So I'm going to keep this open pretty short and let's go ahead and roll sound and get into my conversation with Brian. Dig and one of the original freestyle motocross guys. One of the original guys from the metal militia clothing brand now you know as the husband and father to.

"I think maybe two or three more tries. I can jump to Volkswagen. No helmets back then to show throw projector. Sometimes it's better than a helmet helmet was back then. The thing I remember about doing my lawn. Who's Pike was that I was my bike? Cobbled I would get a pair redline forks in Moto magazine. I cobbled this bike together over like a birthday to Christmas or something on a trading street deal and the house was only like ten feet behind my Stepdad. Took the picture so lawn is Beautif once you land and bring it down fast but engineering. I think about this. You see like evil knievel like landing ramps and stuff like back in the day he just have four by eight planks like on van you know and like strap down with. Bungee cord didn't have a lot of sides also if you ever look at Evil Knievel and like Caesar's palace. His Laney ramp was like five feet wide net. Why not spread it out? A little evil give. Budget is a budget. I don't skimp on the landing ramp but how much when you're doing a trick. How much do you have to engineer? That trick yeah. I feel like that was a big part of when the sport started that we felt like normal dirt. Bike wasn't good enough for motocross. He'd look at it look at the. Bmx bikes the pegs. In the way the bars would spin all the way around and just certain things we started trying to emulate on a dirt bike was pretty hard dirt bikes made with aluminum frame in certain components. You can't really well on or change. We started but we did. You know it. Create DIRT. Bikes at the bars would spend. That was a tough one. The big thing was everyone cut out there plastics. The first thing that was the thing you cut your fender short you cut holes in the grab us you can grab on the Fenders grab onto the seat to do double grabs and Superman C. Grabs that was the biggest thing. I just cutting plastic out and then relatively supercross suspension stiff suspension because the jumps were so big that you'd hit and freestyle get enough air to do a trick because that's the hardest thing trying to do a trick if you need the airtime right so Building these big jobs. We created the first ramps the first medal rams I mobile landing ramp. We created that You know we transported it to our show which was Harley Davidson bike week in Daytona. And we didn't have time to test it unfortunately and so he set up this ramp to ramp on blacktop in front of this huge crowd and we didn't have time. I mean it was show time we show up and we line up. No one wanted to hit it because it was so intimidating because it was like the evil knievel land in real short little landing like way out in space look like in any way no one hit it hit and finally I got. No one's GonNa hit everyone's being you know and I'm like I'm just hitting it. I hit second third year on the gas hit the ramp and I was going past the landing as I was still going up like. This is bad. And I've had a few moments in my life where I've seen my life flash before my eyes. That was definitely one of them. I was like still going up looking the crowds on either side thousands of people. And I'm like this is so bad and I'm going up about come down. To the BLACKTOP. Landing about one hundred and forty feet the flat stick my head to the side of the bars. Because I knew I was just going to take it to the chicken with the bars and just landed so hard at blue. The wheels off the bike ended. Luckily only shattering my ankle in cutting like my neck And the handlebars sliding across the concrete. And I was like dude. It was so bad and I was like this crowd was Kinda like. Was that supposed to happen? Part of the show but it was definitely a bad for anybody. Who's ever seen this kind of riding on asphalt on a street it's unnerving I I don't know why the dirt seems to soften the mental blow or something. But they had these guys came out in the street in front of Kimmel's theater in Hollywood wants it. I remember just looking out the window looking at all the asphalt the street then the rams and I was like I'm freaked out like there's something about doing it on the blacktop and yes that feeling I've experienced it I think. Hopefully everyone had a little bit in their life. Where you just you realize you're in the air. There's nothing you can do. You'RE NOT GONNA make it. This isn't gonNA work and IT'S A. It's a feeling that it's see it. You can't really it because it's not exactly fear although there's a lot of fear in there but there's also a lot of calculating going on it and well like what. What are we going to do? This parachute has an open. We ought to do about this. But but before this science was involved it was just trial and error. Like you're saying time. Big Time trial and error and that was the toughest part about creating a sport. We're the guinea pigs. You know like so we had each each trick was was so new and we were just creating trick after trick and X. Games made it a deal. Where if he came the next year you had to have new tricks like if you brought your same trick you got score down. So there was this pressure of constantly developing developing and and I said the bachelor was a big moment endured vice. I didn't think I didn't think dirt bike could backflip. That easy in in in right away and Pastrana was one of the first guys to master that and it just took the sport to another level and when he years down the road you know I was did the three sixty I saw him. Kinda trying it the Internet right before exiting and so I got it down real quick. I had a foam pit at that time went to X. Games and it was the last minute of the run and you know what I'm just going for it like and I didn't know if I could lay in it I never landed it before and dirt and it's different like you said you landed on landed on Foam big difference between getting the balls that landed on dirt the consequences much higher and then go to concrete. Yes there is another level that tour but X. Games always hard as rocks so same thing I went and hit the job is look at the crowd and La. Calcium was just full and so much. Energy and hype. And I'm like Dude I if I'M GONNA CRASH. I'M GONNA crash as medics here the TV. At least it's going to be on TV. And I come on hit the ramp and just twists are. They could end up doing probably the best three sixty today because it was just so flat and so Just really really good. As far as the rotation come in land almost missed the landing somehow saving and it was just like iconic moment in any way in our sport you know so but what you guys started was huge doing this because now we have monster trucks. Doing backflips right. And it's crazy to see because they weigh ten tons and tons and tons and you're like it's almost looks slow motion while they do it like how is it going to go around. It's a monster truck. Yeah like it's just. It's it's an incredible about X. Game Circa Nineteen Ninety nine and I'm trying to think was that the one in San Francisco Jimmy and I were at that one. Let's see if we can get a video of of the three sixty two season. It's a little rough footage. That's two thousand three thousand three ad come out till like until I o one zero two. They didn't they have youtube back then. Back in the day you know people forget like X. Games was pretty crude when it started. They had street lose yes. He was just like a pig. Lay down on a skateboard. What's so special about laying on a mechanic's creeper and going down a hill if you had a change oil on the way through a car pull the plug a lot of sort of the fringe and it wasn't what it is now all right. Let's take a look at South County New Ladies and gentlemen. Oh ooh today That's great the announcer. Screaming is great. Yeah Cameron Steel. Yeah.

That just happened in general tire big partner in the ARCA series. Obviously the title sponsor this show so we are GonNa talk a little bit about some of the young up and coming talent in the world of motorsports coming through. I guess the NASCAR ladder system in the ARCA series. And I gotTa Tell You I. I don't know a lot about a lot about the NASCAR ladder system in you know in some of the TV ratings. I think that's really really impressive to me. And I think a lot of it has to do with the talent that we have racing in that division so yeah we'll definitely get into talking about the NASCAR ladder system some of that stuff but do have to give a I little plug. I spent almost a part of a week out there and Johnson Valley for that little event call King of the hammers no pun intended.
