Former 49ers Quarterbacks: Where Are They Now?
"That brings us to our next question. Former 49er quarterbacks and where they are now and what's happening. I mean, you got Garoppolo, you got Purdy, you've got, uh, well, what's his name that got traded into Oblivion. Went to, did he go to Texan? Who are we talking about? Who is the quarterback in San Francisco who is all, everything. And they, Trent, uh, Oh, Trey Lance. Trey Lance. Oh, yeah. He's in the season. Everybody's forgotten about him already. Yes. Never going to play a football game. Okay. Question for both of you. Will Brock Purdy turn it around? And also number two, will the, will the Raiders get rid of Garoppolo? The Raiders will never get rid of Garoppolo cause he's too gorgeous. And, uh, Brock Purdy will turn it around. That team is way too talented for him not to turn it around. I agree. I actually agree with James on both of those. I think they're not only are they an incredible talented team, Brock Purdy's a good quarterback. He makes good decisions. Uh, it's tough to rattle him. Um, I, I believe if, if, I mean, losing Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel, I mean that that's a one, two punch that any quarterback's going to struggle with the kids going through some growing pains and he's finally facing some adversity in the NFL. I mean, it's about time he won his first eight, nine games, however many it was. So, you know, he, he just, he's come back down to earth and he looks human, but yeah, they're, they're going to make it better. And I hesitate to make any predictions about what the Las Vegas Raiders are ever going to do in the future. I love it. I love it. James, did you talk about my quarterback in Los Angeles? I mean, Las Vegas Raiders as being handsome. I don't, I don't care if he's rear end ugly. Okay. I want him to be able to throw the ball and not hit the barman in the back. But he's not ugly. And that's why he's still in Vegas. Listen, if there, listen, beautiful people get away with a lot of things, but Jimmy Garoppolo is on another level all the time. It's it's true though. Like he, I'm telling you, they, they probably, every team is like, you know, we got to get rid of this guy and then he walks into the room for negotiations and they're like, son of a, we can't let him go look at him face on all our billboards. Otherwise we're not going to have a female audience. I'm telling you right now, he is because he was, because he at some point with the 49ers obviously had some momentum and played okay. I guess, um, he just, he gets to stay and because there's so few good quarterbacks in this league, look how many teams are struggling because of

"Yeah, you know, the only thing I want to add to that is, like, you know, people talk about the 13 seconds against the Chiefs, and the Bills should know better, but I'm like, look at maybe your last couple games where Russell Wilson just, you know, threw a prayer down the field and got a DPI to set up a game-winning field where his time expired, like, why don't you just try that, you know, just throw it down there, and I really want to go into Sean McDermott's mind, I know he got asked questions about it, but I'm like, was that pick six Hail Mary on his mind from Black Friday, where like, yeah, you know what, I'd rather go for it than we lose a game, I'm like, you know, it's the Jets, have more faith in your team with that, I don't think that was a process, but I'm like, what's going on in his mind where you have Josh Allen, who might have the strongest arm in the NFL, just throw it up, it's okay, I think have some little faith in your players, but he's seen a lot of, you know, blown, you know, blown assignments and miscommunication, maybe he got scared, and I know people are talking about firing this time on your map, but, you know, I don't know, it might be time for, like you mentioned with Sean McDermott, he maxed his ceiling, he touched it, ready to go on, you did what you could, it hasn't worked out, so that might be one of these jobs where like, you did not maybe expect to be open, and it could be, and it could, you know, kind of throw a little wrench there for all the coaching candidates. Yeah, no, it's well said, and I think, well, before we move on to the Eagles and Niners, which are gonna preview that game, because you could make an argument, it's best game of the year, little news, as we're doing this, as we're recording this podcast on Wednesday, well, I guess for you it's morning, for me it's early afternoon, Aaron Rodgers, the 21 day window has opened for Aaron Rodgers as the Jets are giving him an opportunity to return to practice, and I don't know how you feel, I'll try to be succinct with this, what? Like what, you're four and seven, and your offensive line looks like me, Gilberto, and three guys off the street, and you're thinking it's a good idea to put this guy back out there right now. Like, my personal opinion of this, I think this is an, hey, look at me, I might be able to practice, look at me, make sure I'm in the newspaper, make sure I'm in the headlines, I think Aaron Rodgers, I don't think it's unfair to say, despite what he says, he likes the headlines and he likes a little bit of attention, and I think this is what this is about, if the Jets actually put him in a game, everybody should be fired, everybody. I don't care if he's healthy, even if he has a miraculous recovery and all that, which I don't think frankly is possible, but if he does, you're going to put him in there when they're five and ten? I mean, what is the point of this? So I don't get it, I think the Jets are just trying to placate him at this point, but I also think it's insane that there's any idea that he might come back this season. Yeah, you know, I had a couple mixed feelings about this, like a couple weeks ago I'm like, you know what, it's been such a miserable season for the Jets, Aaron Rodgers, play a game for next year, it's been such a terrible year, maybe you need something good like that. And then the more they watch this team, and I see Tim Boyle struggle, Zach Wilson, Daniel Hackett, Randall Cobb can't play, Adam Lazar is not even doing anything, he's getting in trouble with the team already, it's like, these are all the choices from Aaron Rodgers, so if Aaron Rodgers plays, and he does well, and you win a couple of meaningless games, it's kind of like, it's an insurance for the franchise, Joe Douglas and Robert Salah, see, we got the right guy, it just didn't work out, and everything he's saying is telling us, it's true, it's okay, let's keep listening to the guy, and it's like, stop giving Aaron Rodgers everything that he wants, I get it, he came to your franchise to try to help you, but you tried it his way, and it didn't work out unfortunately because he's not available, but you gotta have some backup options, you gotta have a roster that could implement, just in case a 40-year-old quarterback gets hurt again next year, we should have a different backup who's more competent, stop getting your boys Aaron Rodgers, or get a wide receiver, or an OC who can work on the fly and just kind of call it a nice game to help out your backup, nothing has worked out with Aaron Rodgers' choices, I'm like, if he plays and he does well, it's more like, see, we did everything right, it just didn't work out, so let's keep doing everything we're doing right now with the healthy Rodgers, and it's like, no, you don't need that, have a couple, plan B, plan C, and try to figure out, because you gotta expect the worst when it comes to this franchise. Yeah, I just, I'm sorry, can you imagine what this is gonna be like if he comes back and blows his Achilles out again? Then what? Then when's he coming back? Like, if the Jets trot Aaron Rodgers out on the field, I don't care what he says, I don't care if he sits behind the scenes saying, look, I wanna be out there, and if I'm not out there, it's gonna be a problem, fine, then it's a problem, I'm not playing you, this is crazy, this is insane, it's like if Joe Burrow, like let's, and I honestly, I know he just had surgery, I'm not sure exactly what the timeline is, but let's say his timeline was four months to recover, and Joe Burrow was like, listen, I know we're hopelessly out of the playoff race, and it's week 17, and my wrist is basically, has like spaghetti tendons at the moment, but you know what I love to do? I like to go out and play against Kansas City on New Year's Eve because it's a rivalry, and I'm feeling like I oughta be out there. Like, there's no world where Zach Taylor's like, yeah, listen, Joe, that sounds like a good idea, let's do that. Like, at some point, you just have to shut him down. I can understand this to some extent, man, if they were in the playoff race or something, okay, you're still taking a huge chance, but I get it, you're four and seven and can't block anybody, you know? I mean, hell, you mentioned Allen Lazard, they signed him to a four-year deal, and Sala, in the presser the other day, is talking about how, yeah, you know, we've got Allen for another year and a half, he's already thinking about cutting him after two years. It's just, look, that team has been a wreck my entire life, well before I was born, okay? The idea that it's there's any merit in playing Aaron Rodgers right now is just nuts. Let's go to a team that wears green that actually has a clue. The Eagles, who are 10 and 1. They're hosting the 49ers. They have won games against Dallas, Kansas City and the Bills the last three weeks. All of which are very entertaining games. Now they take on the Niners. We'll get to the line in a little bit here because we're going to talk about it one more time here at the end. The Niners are favored in this game and yet it's in Philadelphia. If the Eagles win this game, they're essentially the one seed. I don't know that there's any way that they're not. They'd be three up with a breaker on the Niners. They're two up on the Lions right now already. And the Eagles, they're scheduled after this stretch is not that hard. They play Dallas again but after they get the Giants twice and they have Arizona. They're going to win these games. What are you looking for in this game more than anything else? You know just kind of the intensity level increasing and you know I keep trying to find a game where the Eagles are going to be like okay you know all right that game against the Bills feels like a trap game. You had so much emotion in that Arrowhead game against the Chiefs. You came back. You won. It was a Monday short week. You're kind of due for a track against the Bills. It almost came to fruition but they went to overtime and that's what they do man. They find the way to win and like you were mentioning people are saying well they haven't played their best and I'm like I bet the opponents of the Eagles are thinking yeah that means there's room for improvement. They're 10 and 1. They could get better. That's a scary sight for the rest of the NFL. So you know I keep trying to find a way okay there's got to be a letdown game for this team. Like you know hurts could be sometimes up and down. The secondary is terrible but not this week. They're like that there's such a rivalry there from from last year's you know what could have been should have been and I love this Hunter Redick's quote man I don't be caught it was like a lot of boohoo over there in San Francisco saying what if what could have been well come over to Philly and get it done. So that tells them they're gonna be hyped up for that game and and just say all right you know we want you to stop crying stop complaining we're gonna you know you know come to our house we're gonna show you a physical game and you know I'm just worried about the 49ers being so surprised man that they're actually we're gonna do our picks later but they're the favorites they're like minus two and a half or minus three in Philly but to me it's like this game I think the Eagles have circled it for the entire year whenever the counter came out so I think the intensity level is going to be high for this one and I can't wait for it. The Niners have spent the entire last nine months whining about the fact that they're a better team they should have won this game and look maybe I get it if you're a Niners player you're probably incredibly disappointed you get all the way to that game and then you have no shot I get it like I understand the feelings but when you spend nine months just constantly complaining about the situation like yeah that other team is going to be hyped up to the hilt for this game and by the way so are those fans so that is going to be an interesting spot. I'll give my pick later I'm looking forward to seeing how Purdy plays against the secondary because the Eagles one thing about him this year you can throw the ball all over I mean that they have not stopped teams from throwing the football I'm curious in this game can Purdy who as we just laid out he didn't play really what you play one series in the AFC title game I should have got knocked out the elbow injury like I'm curious what he does against the secondary this is the secondary you can throw the ball on so if the Niners are going to win this game that's how they're doing it they're going to be able they're going to be able to get the ball at you get the kiddo and the debo and on and on and on the flip side can the Niners get a pass rush against that Eagles offensive line Lane Johnson said he's going to be back it's a great front you know now we saw the Chiefs get five sacks and a half it gets felt off you but they play a little differently they bring a lot of different blitz packages can the Niners with that front four with Chase Young now can they get home that's those on both sides of the ball those are the two matchups I'm looking at um I think especially the latter one to me is fascinating who wins that matchup I think it's probably the point of the game yeah I think for me for in terms of matchup wise like what are the four Niners fall behind and the Eagles are just kind of controlling the the game script the tempo the pace whatever it is just being physical having long drives with the tush push fourth and one and Brock Purdy on the sideline cold uh you know Deebo can't get going seems he can't going so and we we know the stats about Kyle Shannon well I don't remember the stat but it's something terrible where like you fall behind the fourth quarter although like 36 or something yeah so I kind of want to see that play out and I think the 49ers need that for the like the last kind of check mark okay are you going to be are you are you finally going to win the Super Bowl we're going to Philly had kind of a physical gritty game maybe it's raining like just kind of have the worst conditions ever and come back and that game and then you go into the playoffs feeling good like right now the 49ers are playing the best football in the NFL this last three game stretch here to forget about the three game winning streak you know you know they should be ranked number one but it's just that that like people like to say the DNA of winning finding a way to do it the Eagles have that they're so talented and that's the scariest side like I mentioned they have room for improvement and they're 10 and 1 so they could get better and I feel like they might get better in this game because of all the crying the last nine months but I kind of want to see the Eagles having their pace and say you're here you're in our home try to win this way because the 49ers that's kind of their thing like they're a little they're physical on defense the second there's a little thin but that offense to me just feels like it's like a like a boxing match you know power against skill and you know what's going to win yeah I am fascinated I mean it also I'm curious in this game like how big of a loss is a funga in this game you know that's not going to show up when you're playing bad teams does it show up on Sunday all right real quick before we get into our bigger story and then the five lines as well of course so right now we talk playoff picture at the beginning of the show which team can be the conference who's on the outside of the playoff picture right now do you think will find their way into the playoffs so okay so a team though it's outside right now that will make it in you know keep looking at the Broncos like I kind of have like the soft spot for the Texans and that's why this game is so big we're gonna we're gonna do our picks here Broncos and the Texans but I keep having an eye on the Broncos man that defense you know I think they had with 14 takeaways in this game this fight game win this referee what it is but there was like a three game stretch where they had 12 oh my that's insane there so playing well defensively and then you know I'm gonna give credit to Sean Payne like you know Sean Payton it was his fault for you know yapping before the season and kind of putting a bullseye on his back and pretty much going to you know what it's a quick fix not gonna hack it and those guys they couldn't do anything watch me do it and they get you know rocked seven to twenty they're one to five but champagne is a good coach and I think if you just kind of didn't talk so much it's like okay all right let's have a process here it's our first year we're gonna get it done we're gonna figure out this roster from the previous regime these players do we like them that we don't and they've kind of gotten past that point okay let's see what we do our way and credit to Sean Payton you know being patient with Vance Joseph and such in this era where people are so impatient and just fire everybody he could easily fire Vance Joseph after September it was it was that bad and they're one of the best defensive units in the NFL and Sean Payne is doing an built-in offense it's kind of like all right Russell you're not the same dude but just play safe protect the ball just give it to your running backs throw it to courtland study whenever we need a ball to be thrown for third or one or or red zone target and it's getting it's working so you know I want to see this defense against CJ Stroud and I think that I'll be the way my pick will kind of turn out I don't want to take the easy route so I'll go with the Broncos but those two teams are in my radar well it works out it's funny I'm actually gonna go with Houston so I think Houston I think Houston's gonna get to 11 wins I think Houston's gonna their schedule's a joke I mean they beat Denver their schedule's really easy down the stretch now I will say Houston's a young team and Houston is the reason Carolina is not winless okay and they lost to Atlanta like they can lose some games they shouldn't but I am taking my feeling on this give me the best quarterback it's not in the playoffs right now and for me Stroud is that kind you could argue Stafford that's fine and maybe we're both dumb for not taking an NFC team because the NFC is such a wreck but I I'll go Stroud I'll go Stroud and the Texans I think they'll they'll find their way in so that that Houston game with Denver as you say huge game major importance real quick actually before we get to the five best games bigger story look we got to bring it up even though the Panthers are 110 right now Frank Reich fired after 11 games I mean that's unheard of Nathaniel Hackett got more games than that Urban Meyer got more games than that Frank Reich universally respected in the NFL one of the good guys by every account and yet he's gone after 11 games one and ten David Tepper moving on couldn't even pronounce his name right in the press conference kept saying I kept saying it wrong what is the bigger story moving forward for the Panthers is it the struggles of Bryce Young was nine touchdowns eight picks this year including a bunch of pick sixes or is it David Tepper's inability to stay out of the football side of operations yeah that's a good question I'm gonna go with Bryce Young let's just help David Tepper figures out oh crap I told people to pick Bryce Young or I didn't say I kind of just initiated or just kind of hinted hey keep keep going with that guy over there instead of CJ Stroud so maybe he feels like all right I effed up here but we got to go work on on the pick that I made so you know I'm gonna go with Bryce Young he like I'm gonna be honest he looks terrible it looks bad doesn't look like he belongs out there and you know the size you know every time I watch him play I'm like he's small out there and you gotta you gotta build a better roster to help him out you can't be a creator away from the pocket that's that was one of the skills of Alabama if you don't have a good offensive line if you don't have any weapons either and you know I'm so mad at myself for thinking this team's gonna be decent in the off season I'm like Miles Sanders not bad dealing mingo okay and I'm like what was I thinking I'm giving this offense a chance and the other part too man it's like you know Tepper building this all-star coaching staff okay they could probably do something here with Frank Wright and I should have known the second that they missed out on Ben Johnson and Frank Wright was prize number two and Tepper was meddling with the coaching staff that's probably not a good recipe to building a good coach over there so but they're stuck with Bryce Young you don't have a first round pick because you gave it away to the Bears you don't have a number one wide receiver because you gave them to the Bears with DJ Moore so and you thought this offensive line bringing them back was the answer it wasn't so you got to rebuild the offensive line get weapons get a good running back and help out your quarterback so I think until then until they do that and get the right personnel I don't want to write off Bryce Young again this in this era people are very impatient it's not looking good I'm not going to deny that but you got to go and somehow give Bryce Young a fighting chance he was your number one pick that you gave up a whole boat load of picks and DJ Moore for so make it work so yeah look you could go either way here I'll always take the temper angle just because you want Bryce Young look I have been a fan of teams that have bad ownership and you're just screwed like there is no way around it okay I am a Knicks fan I have gone through my entire life of James Dolan just getting in the way and finally it appears that he's so tired of being in the way that he's finally just sat down and oh look at that the Knicks are probably going to win 50 games this year okay like it's it is the worst thing that can happen in your franchise okay I for years and years and years my entire life I was an Oakland A's fan in baseball like they've literally gotten me to the point I don't even watch baseball anymore like I hate the owners so much excuse me John Fisher I cannot stand them with such a passion that I will not room for them and I've gotten to know some people in the Brewers organization I'm like yeah that's fine them never thought it was possible I was never somebody who could ever change teams the ownership actually forced me to do it I worry that Tepper is one of these owners who just can't get out of his own way he just cannot like look man I don't care where you made your billions I don't care you didn't make them in the NFL you don't know you don't know and that's a problem like in the NFL guys come in from all walks of life from all types of businesses where they've made their fortunes and of course wherever they were they were extremely successful the problem with that becomes a lot of these guys didn't think well then I'll be successful doing this I know what I'm doing the NFL is a different beast and excuse me and with that some guys learn okay I gotta be more hands-off here and I gotta hire people to do the job and get out of their way and some people never learn that I mean Jerry Jones has been Jerry Jones's entire tenure as the owner of the Cowboys the only thing that saved him early was Jimmy Johnson the second Jimmy Johnson got run off how's that been going I mean you know look you look at Daniel Snyder in Washington the train wreck forever the best owners in the NFL are the ones who hire football people and get out of the has not been able to do that we'll see maybe he'll learn maybe he'll grow he's a young owner but my concern is that Tepper's just going to be one of these guys who's constantly involved the good news is for the pants is I think he's willing to spend the money I think he wants to win but none of that matters if he's the one constantly making the football's decisions and that is where right now from Carolina I'm concerned yeah if you don't get a wake-up call and look yourself in the mirror after this the way it turned out with the number one pick and this whole hiring process with Frank Wright and then also meddling and saying hey pick these guys it's also our team then he's probably gonna learn for a long time and you're probably right there like that's kind of a scary sight to know that this guy could be around for 10 20 years and still be meddling and and just kind of say you know what do that and do that and that could be a whole issue and you know and real quick credit to Albert Breer and Connor Orr for I checked on Monday show and you know one thing that I forgot about like the Panthers can't figure out if they want to start winning now or rebuilding like they trade CMC they keep Brian Burns like they trade DJ Moore you know and think and they go spend money in the opposite thing for Bryson like figure out a route for his path and stay committed and see what happens oh great points by those guys very true um all right let's get in to the week 13 lines as always got a five pack of them uh we're gonna start with Thursday night's game Seattle coming off of a couple of losses now at Dallas, Dallas Satan 3 trying to stay near Philadelphia trying to make that rematch at home matter with the Eagles um the Cowboys are laying nine and a half a huge line and they have been great at home this year they've destroyed teams um they've also played the commanders and the Giants and the Jets and the Pats at home so the Seahawks a little bit of a step up in class but the Seahawks struggling nonetheless you liked uh Dallas here and if you do do you like him by the full nine and a half yeah I'm glad you asked that last part because for some reason I keep believing the Seahawks are gonna make games close like I gave them the the seven points against the 49ers I gave them the seven points against the Ravens getting beat down and I think I'm gonna give them the eight and a half points and Dallas wins a lot at home and I don't know why I keep believing in Seattle but obviously the pick is a cowboy I'm not gonna go away from that it's gonna be the Cowboys but eight and a half is a lot of points and they're just too talented and I just don't learn my lesson went to the Seahawks team and Matt maybe maybe we jinxed ourselves when you're brought up the other day hey we actually picked the Seahawks to be in Super Bowl one of our I guess our previews way back in April and they've been terrible ever since so you know I'll just say this real quick I know we didn't get a chance to talk about the NMC when it came to you know teams making the playoffs but if the Seahawks go 0-4 which they're they're 1-0 or 0-1 already because the 49ers they lose to the Cowboys lose to the 49ers lose to the Eagles again I don't want to see you in the playoffs you you don't belong in the playoffs you can't compete with these top dogs at least maybe the Rams or the Packers get a sniff here because at least the Packers are just gonna beat the Lions and you know the the Rams beat the Seahawks twice I don't want to see you in the playoffs so unless you if you go on four here in this stretch here you don't belong in it so show me some fight and I'm gonna take the eight and a half points in the Seahawks for my last kind of like all right don't fool me anymore one more try here but I'm taking the Cowboys okay I'm taking the Cowboys and I'm swallowing the points because I have been like you I have picked Seattle to cover I feel like every game and I'm just tired of it I'm tired of watching Seattle I'm like hey man I I wrote like we do our our best picks of the week every every week with Craig Ellenport and I I remember writing very strongly when I'm like why are the Seahawks big dogs against Baltimore this is stupid and I beat by like 40 points and I was like all right you know listen I guess we're all bound to have those days but that hurts and then I picked them to cover against San Francisco and that game was it was a killing so I'm not going to go that route I like Dallas in this game I think Dallas is playing great football Dak is playing excellent football some of the best of his career the last couple months I always worry about Dallas when they play really good teams but I think Seattle at this point is a decent team so I think they will handle business I think they will win at home it's a short week but it's not really because both of them played last Thursday so you know it really is a full week of practice for both sides of course Dallas getting the comfy confines I I like the Cowboys in this game something like 30 to 20 I think it's right around the number but if I have to go one way or the other on the number I will take Dallas who who has been blowing teams out so give them credit all right on the ASG side as we mentioned earlier a couple times really important game in Houston haven't been able to say that in a long time but this year the Texans are much better they are six and five Denver is six and five on a five-game winning streak Denver is weird in the sense that you watch these games and you're never like yeah Denver looks great but they just keep finding a way to win and give them credit some of those wins are coming it's really good football teams shout out to the Bills who can't count and the the Texans laying three and a half at home in what is not only a big games is for the for record but for tiebreaker as well here a huge game do you like Denver or Houston uh in energy stadium it's a tough one and I know earlier in the show I I picked the Broncos or against the team to probably make it in the playoffs and it won't make sense because I'm going with the Texans here and I just realized that because I also did it on our mmqb pickums and I hate to change and like when people ask me to make picks I just keep them all the same I hate to lose track and whether they choose either so it doesn't make sense I picked the Broncos earlier but I'm gonna go with the Texans to win this game here and you know they're home I go with the Bronx I think the Broncos could cover that three and a half there you know it should be a close game could be one of these one-point games or one of these close games like as time expires the field will kind of thing so you know I do like the Broncos defense you know but it's CJ straight out kind of gets on a hot stretch there with tank there or Nico Collins and scores a couple touchdowns do we trust Russell Wilson and kind of you know get a couple scores going from playing from behind like they've benefited from short fields from all these takeaways too so you know I gave Sean Payton his credit earlier and Russell Wilson but if Stroud gets back in a heater and it's kind of a little he was a little quiet for his standards which says a lot for rookie last week against the Jaguars like he had a couple big plays to tank there and he kind of was a little quiet in the fourth quarter but he set it up for that field goal and they missed it but you know I think CJ Stroud being at home and just being able to put up points that's why I leaned with the Texans but I expect a close game yes I'm gonna take the Texans all again I'll swallow the three and a half points look I think Denver deserves all the credit in the world for one five straight here they could have folded the tent they could have sold off half the team they didn't do that and they've won five straight kudos to them the problem I have is a lot of these games have been like hey we've gotten eight turnovers from the other team I mean the Bills and the Chiefs basically were like here's the game beat us and both those games came down to it I mean even though the Chiefs lost 24 to 9 I think it was 14 9 with five minutes left and the Chiefs fumbled a punt return so they're on five yard line that was the game and we all saw the Bills game which is one of the most ridiculous football games of the year I feel like Denver deserves credit and yet at the same point it also deserves a little bit of like closer analysis Minnesota did the same thing Minnesota turned the ball over a million times and and yet barely lost and then last week it's like Dorian Thompson Robinson quarterback I don't know I I feel like if Houston doesn't turn the ball over three or four times away in this game so I will take Houston Denver by the way is a huge stretch for them five in a row but now three game road swing Texans Chargers Lions you got to win two of them you got to win two of them you're gonna make the playoffs you got to win two of these games they could beat the Chargers hell everybody can beat the Chargers but like can you win one of those two others and can you handle business against LA that's a question for me I like the Texans in this game I do think it's somewhere in that range give me Houston the new CNN prime time is where the truth shines taking you to the heart of the story and breaking through the noise it's not about what I believe it's about whether there is evidence the day's biggest stories the night's most essential reporting I want "Running fake toss to the left side, but then purdy just, he gets out of the snap opening to his right, and so it's just a really quick pass. Christian McCaffrey is the only player on the right hand side. Yes. And every single person on the Seahawks offense is sprinting to try to catch up with deebo Samuel and they don't even see it like Brock purdy's already thrown the ball. And they're still chasing deebo Samuel. And it was, oh God, it was so cool. I think they gained like, I think in like 12 or 13 yards on that play, but just beautiful. But you hate to bring it down to like, this almost parcels you in thing. But if you're face, if you're preparing to face this team in the playoffs, what are you doing during the week outside of bringing in, I don't know, like importing a bunch of bears and trying to fight them in cages. Like, I don't know. I don't know how you prepare yourself for something like this. If they run into a team that has some game records on defense, if they run into, I don't think eagles are a great matchup for them. I don't either. I do think the cowboys are a little bit better for a matchup. They have up front. There's no, there's no rams. There's no Aaron Donald coming at some point this postseason. Because that's really what it was. You know, if you rewind to last year, you know, the offense was not in as good a shade. There's no Chris McCaffrey, so I don't want to I don't want to make a one to one comparison, but they threw some sort of misdirection, some stuff that they had, you plant a seed on a play that the one that sticks out to me was late in the rams game. They had a third in short, and they ran that Trent Williams motion that everyone loved and where and it's like, yeah, currently there's a motion, of course, they're gonna give it to him. And then it was a hand up up the middle to Kyle U shit, but didn't work. Because the rams just made a good play because they have good players on their defensive line. And it was kind of like, oh, all right, well, we have exhausted our bag here. So they punted and, you know, you know how the rest of it worked out. It just doesn't feel like it is, it doesn't feel like there are anywhere near running out of things to do. And things to reach into and throw out there just because you have so many different weapons at this point. And boy, it's just tough to figure out how anyone's going to stop them save for a quarterback meltdown. Yeah, I was going to say that the cowboys are the only team that I see that

"Poise. That's it. That's his best quality. He's just completely comfortable at all times. And then at the end of the game, he started doing that. He's awesome. Oh, I see it. He is. I haven't seen the poise. Lance has been thrown out now a few times. And again, pouring rain, I'm going to give him a little bit of benefit of the doubt. I don't see the poise with him. He looks like somebody who just, it reminds me a lot of trubisky actually with those bears when he'd only had like the 17 college starts. And he just, it looks like everything's too fast for him. And I think this week, they're big favorites this week. It's allegedly a nice spot. And they're playing Seattle coming off an awesome win. I'm sure it's all the makings. And if he looks the same kind of just the no pois thing again, I think there's a real concern. You'd have to have it. I watched the entire game back yesterday, and they're up ten nothing when deebo fun moves that ball. And then it just goes complete. They're up ten, nothing. And that's the thing what I always thought was give this kid a little bit of a lead. And it's over. And it's not, though. That scares me. And I know I'm going to be with you on this one. That's an asterisk game. It was in pouring rain. But do you think he's an incredible athlete? Because I think in my head, I thought he was going to be this like Michael Vick level runner, and I don't think he is. I haven't seen it yet. And Kyle Kyle is a better athlete than him. Yeah, Kyler was an all world athlete. Kyler was the best baseball player. Yeah. I would say there's multiple quarterbacks who were just clearly better at this. So we'll see. That and the two O one. Which you couldn't fault them for

It's been one that I've had a harder time engaging with than ever before because it feels so dumb and meaningless. I'm like, man, the other day, Big Ben gave a quote saying like, you know, the young generation is a bunch of divas, and then I saw a bunch of people saying, you know, Big Ben is wrong. Here's why and telling Big Ben, what to think and how to say it's like, who are you to tell Big Ben what to believe? Who are you to tell a grown man with to believe? Who are you to? Why are we so worried about how other people are behaving? I don't care. You know what I care about? What's going to happen week one? Who's going to be good? Who's going to be bad? As you had three football wishes, what would they be and why? By the way, you can choose literally anything football related. Could be about your career, could be about someone else's career, rules, college recruiting, the NFL Draft. I think you get the point. Anyways, loving the show is always keep up the good work. Connor, I love this question. Can I actually start by saying this? I would really, maybe this is a good prompt for a Patreon shell. Me asking you guys what your football wishes are, because that would be really fun. I want to hear your guys hypotheticals. Your guys dreams. The stuff you guys wish had happened or which could happen. In the football world. Anything, any kind of wish you can think of would be really fun to talk about on the podcast. So I think at some point I want to turn this around actually on the audience and hear what you guys have to say about this topic. I got, I actually have 6 dreams I'm going to talk about. Or which is maybe it's better to put it like you said. The first three are about other people, the last three are about myself. So and the ones about myself are a little more personal and I'm hesitant to share, but I will. But let's talk about the big ones first. Wish number one, I would have loved to see Carson Palmer or Philip Rivers win a Super Bowl. But especially Carson Palmer man, I really admire and really like and thought was way better than people realized. And I still to this day wish I could have seen Carson Palmer win a Super Bowl. He had a shot, he got close, but that makes me sad. So that's wish number one. One of those two guys, I wish it had, we would view Carson poem are so differently, if he'd won a Super Bowl in his career. I really believe that. I thought he was hamstrung by a bad organization in Cincinnati. It's a different Cincinnati now apparently. But man, oh man, I so badly would love to see one of those two legendary quarterbacks. Philip Rivers or Carson Palmer winning Super Bowl because I thought they had careers worthy of that even if they never reached it themselves. "Would be throwing passes to Julio Jones, my head would have exploded. I would have been so excited. And like I said, I'll repeat it again. It's weird to me that his time in Tennessee was a letdown. I don't know why that was. Was it the quarterback wasn't very good? Was it the system wasn't very good for him? Was he just hurt? The obvious thing to believe from that is that, well, Julio Jones must not be very good. He must be washed up. He's too old, he can't play. I'm a skeptical of Julio Jones going to Tampa. I don't know that he can play. I don't know that he's going to be very good. But I'm also hopeful. My fingers are crossed and I wanted to go well. That's a huge fan of Julio. A guy who admires him. I want it to go well. And I think it might. And I certainly want to at least acknowledge that Julio Jones is now going to Tampa on a roster that's really good. With a team that has Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, were potentially, it's kind of like in basketball, actually, you know, John wall went to LA clippers where they got Paul George and Kawhi Leonard and you're like, well, hey, the third best offender is now guarding John wall. That's a good matchup for John wall. Well, if you got Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, your third best cover corner, then is potentially guarding Julio Jones. That's a good matchup in my opinion. I think still, it's not quite that simple. That's an over simplification of that. But my point is that maybe having good receivers around him and Tom Brady could remind the world how good Julio Jones once was and he could give us a little bit of really good stuff. And I certainly hope that is possible because I would love to see Julio Jones catching touchdown passes from Tom Brady and looking really good. That excites me a lot and I have my fingers crossed. "The the word choice of bluffing, the quote bluffing is going to get blown out of proportion. They're going to say, oh, you shouldn't have admitted that. You got to hurt you and feature negotiations. I'm sure you're going to see DK Metcalf bluffed to Seattle. DK Metcalf finally can be honest here to see headlines like that all over the sports world. Blown out of proportion again, because I think the reality was, he just felt like a lump in his throat wanting to be able to tell everybody, hey, I like it here. I want to be here and he felt like he couldn't because he was negotiating. And I don't know, man, I'm really glad that both DK Metcalf and deebo Sam got paid. Well deserving and both making good money and I'm happy for them. Now here's what fires me up today. I keep seeing rumors of a potential trade sending veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo from the forty-niners to Seattle. By the way, that would be a trade within their division. First of all, this potential trade doesn't make sense to me. I hate that it's out there. I don't believe it's going to happen. It's slightly infuriating to me, actually. People like the idea because Seattle is basically the only place Jimmy Garoppolo could go. And also compete for a starting job immediately. Now, Seattle should not trade for Jimmy Garoppolo. He's a known entity. He's a solid quarterback. He's fine. He's not great. He's not horrible. He's solid. You have Jimmy Garoppolo? And you probably go if Seattle brings in Jimmy G, you go 8 and 9. Maybe 9 and 8 with him. And that's fair enough? Okay. But that doesn't help Seattle at all. Because you need to find out if your young quarterback drew lock is any good. Drew lock is 25 years old. He's either going to show you this year that he's really good. And then you continue to build around him and use your draft picks to help him, or if he's bad, Seattle is going to have a bad year, have a high draft pick, it can use that draft pick to draft a quarterback in the next NFL Draft. So the only way moving forward for Seattle right now is to figure out if drew lock is good. Wasting time in Jimmy Garoppolo doesn't help you. You got to figure out your next superstar franchise quarterback.

People and if deshaun Watson is truly actually innocent, which I don't, I think like I said, I think what happened was he tried to have sex with a lot of people in a workplace environment, which is deeply inappropriate. And coerce them using his power as NFL player. Let's say all of that out loud, let's get it out there. That's what I think happened. My theory, my belief. And what I would say to everybody is, hey, young men with money, but really anybody. Be very careful when you're in a room alone with someone. And especially at the doors locked, that's terrifying to me. And if they're just accusations, I don't know why he was ever alone in a room with them. He should always have someone with him. If they're not accusations and that really happened, that's horrifying. And. I don't know man, this is not why I cover football. I cover football to talk about football. I can't wait. We're about to hit the NFL season. Games are going to happen. It's going to be really fun. This is the dark side of covering professional sports that I don't like at all. And like I said, the entire situation makes me uncomfortable the fact that he's playing this year makes me uncomfortable the fact that he only got a 6 game suspension makes me uncomfortable. And there's not much more to be said there than that. All right, how about a story that we had to, like I said, I have to talk about that. I can't ignore that story. It's one of the biggest stories in the football world right now. But I don't have much more to say beyond that. So we did it. We talked about it. Let's move on. Here's something that excited me. In the last few days, two young talented NFL receivers got paid in Seattle on Thursday, DK Metcalf got a three year contract extension worth 72 $1 million with a 58.2 $1 million guaranteed contract. So what am I saying? $58.2 million fully guaranteed there and a $30 million signing bonus. That was on Thursday. DK Metcalf got paid. Then on Sunday, forty-niners receiver, deebo Samuel, got a three year $73.5 million deal with 58.1 $1 million guaranteed. I love to see them get paid. This makes me very happy. Deebo Samuel is 26 years old. He was a second round pick in 2019. DK Metcalf in Seattle's even younger. He's 24 years old. He was also a second round pick in 2019. It is not a coincidence that these guys got paid within a few days of each other. They kind of fell like dominoes, just say one after another, both of them were doing something I like called holding in, meaning that they were

We're gonna play a game. We're trying to do this in 20 minutes or less. Let's see if we can pull it off. We're gonna do a game. All the running backs receivers and tight ends. What we think their value is as assets. So this is like a cousin of a trade barrier game. The reason we're doing this is because debo Samuel is available. And producer Steve Surrey was like, where does he rank? How important is it that deebo Samuel is available? So let's start with deebo and then we'll play the game. How important is debo Samuel to you? Is he worth two first round picks? The price, the price for tyrique, the price for devonta Adams, it's like floating between like a first and a second. Other guys like Jamal Adams is worth two first rounders. Does he wear two first rounders to you? I think the tricky thing is that it's so hard to divorce him from Shanahan and the forty-niners in my mind. I feel like to the forty-niners, yes, kind of, because we just watched the playoffs and debo was, he made me feel like I was watching the past the football in the future at the same moment. I feel like it's like Jim Thorpe or something. Someone playing every position at once, but also really I think debo, it reminded me actually of like Joel embiid, the 7 footer who's knocking down three pointers at the end of the game. It's like, how do you guard him? Who do you put on him? Doesn't matter what you do you're wrong. That's what deebo is, where you treat them like a running back, will they shift them out to receive? You treat them like a receiver, shift them in. He changes everything for defense. I just don't know if he's going to stay on the field. That's my concern. It's mine as well. What do you think, Craig? Yeah, I think there's some Shanahan cockiness to this where he's like, I can do this with anybody. So I don't need to pay you $25 million a year depot. I can draft treylon Burks and do it again. He had ten receiving touchdowns in his entire career. In 11 rushing touchdowns is an entire career. So 21 total, he missed some games in 2020. Last year is healthy, but took a lot of hits. "Going to be injury prone at the next level? But I also wonder how much of this is the fact that he gets there as a true freshman. He establishes himself as the best player in its position in the country. He wins a national title, and now he has to buy his time for two more years and basically not suffer a catastrophic injury, how much of this was just kind of him protecting himself. And again, that's guesswork on our part, but, you know, I can't necessarily hold it against him for not wanting to go out there and play in the gosh. What's a, you know, whatever the Bitcoin, I don't know, Arby's bowl, or whatever LSU ended up in. Yeah, I'm trying to think of like, I'm trying to think of like a really good like the calgon bowl or something. Yeah, there were a lot of dot coms that came up at some point. There was, of course, the Papa John's dot com bowl university Connecticut champions one year of the Papa John's dot com bowl. Pets dot com bowl. Remember pets dot com? Yeah. Oh yeah. Given the enormous stimulus this past year, it's no surprise inflation has been an issue, but it's often presented as double digit inflation. Like we saw back in the 70s or something transitory, which you can brush off. So where does today's inflation really fall and how should you account for it? Listen to the wise investor show at the wise investor group dot com or find us on your favorite podcast app. The other cornerback I want to touch on here is Trent mcduffie out of Washington who, I don't know, it gets kind of stale after a while because literally every one of these watching guys who comes out is undersized, but really really Gritty and just they just play at such a higher level than you'd think by just going on the I test here. Mcduffie is, I mean look, what, 5, ten and a half here, I'm reading the combine measurements. 5, ten and a half, 29 and three quarters for arm length. It's a little bit problematic, but you can certainly play him inside. He's incredibly competitive. So yeah, you could probably get away with him playing outside too, but whatever, you're not gonna put him on a 6 three receiver and expect him to hold up there. On top of that, he can play inside because he's incredibly physical as a tackler. So you trust him and run support. It's just, it's gonna be a problem with some matchups. And I wonder if it becomes a bigger problem as more and more teams seem to be going with their big slot receipts here or moving their number one receiver inside to take advantage of some of these size matchups. Yeah, I mean, I've viewed him as a late first round pick. I mean, I view him as sort of he's your finisher, right? Like if you're the bills, for example, like you take him because you literally don't have needs anywhere else. And he puts you in a position where like, you know, you're matching a third or fourth wide receiver more adequately than anybody else's matching like a second receiver in the NFL. You know, I think that's really what you would do at the end of the day with him. That said, I mean, you know, incredibly gifted player like, you know, it just seems like, it's so smooth. It was just like, his anticipatory skills are really good. His breaking skills are really good, you know, so those ten yard outs to the sidelines or whatever, you know, he's gonna be in on all that kind of stuff. But, you know, you worry about the size a little bit, but I think if you have the right setup, really what you're hoping from your cornerbacks at best is to extend the quarterback's time in the pocket by like a quarter of a second. And I think he can do that. Talking about two safeties before we wrap up here, Kyle Hamilton, obviously top 5 pick potentially, I guess it's a two part question here. Number one, do you consider safety a premium position in the NFL now? We've seen teams that use safeties well, really get a lot of value out of them. There are also a lot of teams that don't use safeties very well. So it's kind of like, well, you're not going to spend an early pick on one. But Hamilton incredibly versatile here. And again, you don't want to go nuts with measurables, but when you're 6 four and you have 33 inch arms, and you are as instinctive as he is, you just sort of get to places on the field. You get your hands on passes that other guys can't get their hands on. So just phenomenal range, obviously a really physical player as well. You could probably play in some snaps that line back if you really wanted to. But yeah, is the team that drafts him going to find the right way to use him? Yeah, I mean, I would argue that there is a thing going to the Vikings. And I think the reason for that is you could say that safety is not a premium position, but I really think you'd be suffering from a lack of premium coaching, right? I mean, I think Todd Bowles certainly use the safety position really well when he's with the jets. And I would say that Pete Carroll hasn't, really. Lately. But the bills have made up for or have bolstered their cornerback play via the safety position for years, you know? And with two players that quite honestly, you know, they haven't made the Pro Bowl until this year, but didn't have any accolades before really coming to buffalo. And so I would say that any player that you draft certainly is a reflection of your coaching staff and not really the other way around, but Kyle Hamilton is just, you know, I think you have to look at it from a traits perspective. It's like, who else is this size and can do all these things? And you make it work. You find a spot. I mean, the chiefs put tyrann Mathieu everywhere, and I think that you could have a similar kind of vibe with Kyle Hamilton. The other guy I want to talk about is daxton hill, who he reminds me so much of Malcolm Jenkins coming out of Ohio State here. I know part of that's just the Big Ten connection here. But the mission guy, he's going to play that overhang spot. You can play him over the slot. I think he can hang with a lot of receivers there. Probably more of a probably more of a split safety type of guy if you're going to play him play him back as opposed to a single high guy, though no one really plays single high anymore anyway. I shouldn't say no one, but that is that is not cool kids. Yeah, not the cool defense anymore. You're going to get pointed and laughed at if you try and play some single high stuff in 2022. So he fits in there. Again, is this what you consider a premium role on your team? I think that's the only reason you wouldn't take him in the first round, but gosh, it just seems, it just seems like he's going to be a really good player for a long time. Wonder if he's available for the ravens at some point, you know, like he's just such a great blitzer. You know, he's so he's more than adequate coming off the line, but it's just everywhere, you know? Plays the run really well too. And it's just that aggressive forceful at the line type of presence that, again, not everybody wants, right? But if you like the idea of your safety's kind of coming into the backfield and penetrating and being a part of that quarterback disruption process, if you run a lot of simulated pressure stuff, like I think.

Yeah, 3 a.m. to watch a giants game, wow. My question for you is do you think Daniel Jones has a legitimate NFL future? I like how we brought in Tyrod Taylor this off season because I feel like he will really push DJ during camp and Tyrod has proven he can be a serviceable quarterback in this league if DJ doesn't work out. I personally think Daniel Jones can improve and be a good quarterback if given better protection and if our weapons around him can stay healthy. Example, Sterling shepherds take on Berkeley, Kenny gallaudet, Carrie Tony. I truly believe that if we moved off of Daniel Jones, he could go somewhere and have a Ryan Tannehill like resurgence. What are your thoughts on this statement? And keep up the great content mate, I appreciate you. Okay, here's what I'll say. Dana Jones has a ton of potential. I think you're right about that. I see a possibility where Daniel Jones becomes the franchise guy that we think he could become in New York. He's a great athlete, he's a smart guy. I'm very excited to see what Brian dabel can do with him. Brian Davis, a head coach now in New York. He was the offensive coordinator in Buffalo with Josh Allen. He developed Josh Allen into an elite quarterback. And Josh Allen worked his butt off did a lot of stuff with Jordan Palmer. It's not all the credit going to the coach, but the coach did something right there. And I could see a world where he does something right with Daniel Jones and Daniel Jones explodes and is really, really good. Because the ability is there. He fumbles too much, but he can run. I'd love to see him extend plays a little more, do some different stuff. I think with a good coach, helping him out and giving him advice and working with him..

"Didn't get deserves it. He's being used as a running back and a receiver getting hit a bunch, wear and tear is being put onto his body. It's going to shorten his career. And by the way, football careers are already short. I understand wanting to make your money before you miss your opportunity. He wants to cash out. He wants to make sure that when he's done, he can look back and go, I'm set for life. I took care of my family, took care of my kids, take care of my mother, my family, whatever. And he's on a rookie contract. He's made, I mean, for you and me, good money, but for an NFL player, he's nowhere near. The top. And he's playing like it. I support his desire to want to be set for life. I'm like, yeah, he deserves it. Pay him the money. Here's the problem. I don't think he's going to get paid his worth in San Francisco. There's basically no other player like him, and I think in order to get paid the way that's comparable to his special skill set. To get paid his worth is going to have to get traded. And this one's being telegraphed from a mile away. Look, again, tyreek hill surprised me. This is the one. I'm like, look, the signs are all there. He's not getting paid. His worth, he's getting used a bunch. He's sending a message to the team. I would love to see deebo Samuel in Miami. Can you imagine he gets to reunite with his former offensive coordinator, Mike McDaniels and Miami? Jalen hill, Tyree sorry, jaylen weidel, tyreek hill, deebo, Samuel, I mean, there's already no excuse for tua to be bad next year, but are you kidding me? How fun would that be? And Miami is already very interesting. If they can add debo Samuel, they would be must watch TV. And I want that to happen. I'm rooting for that. Can we make it happen? Can we get debo sandal in Miami? I'm not a dolphins fan, but that sounds the most chaotic and fun place to send him. He'd have an offensive coordinator who knows is how to use him and man. That is what I am very much rooting for. I want deebo Samuel to go to Miami. But I'm telling you now, I think a trade could happen. I would not be shocked at all. And you've been warned. I want to give a shout out to Kyle Brandt. Kyle Brandt is a broadcaster on good morning football. It's an NFL network show. Hey, Kyle, round.

"We saw what happened in in an nfc championship game. When the green bay packers decided to go ahead and put their tight out there for an onside kick against the seattle seahawks. So i'm glad it wasn't this situation but maybe we can learn from it and put a brandon. I you instead of george. Biddle right there and i'll be all for that ten out of ten. I would even even for jimmy ward. Maybe putting them right there. Okay now now. I'm getting a little too far. My handle saying jimmy ward but there is you know we can pick that that they're downplay from jimmy garoppolo but he also did show an ability to kind of extend plays you. He didn't circle around in see ghost like week one against the arizona cardinals last year. He actually extended plays whether it turned into a russell. Wilson extended play or jimmy. Garoppolo extended play like. That's a different discussion. These guys are two different quarterbacks but hell he extended placed where he didn't get sacked could have been eight yard play but instead it wasn't and that's where i was really really satisfied with jimmy garoppolo's play besides the downfield throw. I'm so happy. He took that shot to deebo samuel. Sometimes as a quarterback you gotta let your receivers work and find the ball in the air because in the nfl. A receivers in be generally better at tracking the ball in the air than a db would unless a db's like a jalen ramsey. So you know someone who could play both sides of the ball. That's different but there's not. Many jalen ramsey is in the nfl and that showed with deebo samuel able to get back to the ball. Snag it in in you know. Take it in for a touchdown. And that's what i would like to see out of jimmy garoppolo. More on third down plays. Let your receiver a play. That's something we've seen. Russell wilson do for years in seattle. When he did that on sunday for he just literally picked a spot in the end zone and threw it up for tyler. Lock in tyler. Lockett ran down the ball and and you know made a play with it. And that's what i would like to see with jimmy garoppolo. Obviously i can be the same style as a russell wilson by. He could do it in his own way and he showed that on sunday. And that's what. I'm really really really happy to see at least jimmy garoppolo hitting these guys on dig routes yet. A lot of it was still in the middle of the field. How this offense was designed by. He executed it. He looked he looked like a a good. Jimmy garoppolo from two thousand nineteen like when jimmy garoppolo had a good game in two thousand nineteen. That's what he looked like. He was far better than any single game. He played in twenty twenty on sunday by far better than any single game play. So that just tells me he's getting better. he's not staying. You know two thousand twenty jimmy garoppolo. Now he's actually getting better in. And i credit the salt and pepper hair as pobably like he's maturing now The little salt member in his hair is making a mature. a little. bit Your guy fern. He you know he's he's channeling his inner fern and look it. Look it. you know things are happening. Things are happening so credit salt and pepper. I wish the salt and pepper would've came in two thousand nineteen at least a little bit. But maybe you know provide some good luck kyle. Shanahan jimmy garoppolo salt and pepper baby. The movement on third down was a nice a nice add to jimmy Jimmy made the game winning. Play complaining to pass a deebo. He fumbles on all. I guess i act i. A fishing is a term for the quarterback play. I'm not ready to give them like some super high praise like this stuff. Well we saw we saw yesterday. Was you know what we saw. Twenty nineteen twenty twenty. We saw a little bit of a to in some games but he will be fine if this is what we're gonna get from him. Okay cool sure but my worry is. Did you watch stafford. You watch tyler. And did you watch russell like we haven't done enough. I don't wanna talk about it. We don't have a knife like why do we avi like. Why do we know we gotta talk about the nfc west as a whole. We need more from the quarterback. That's all i'm saying cool. He was efficient. But jimmy. bean more from you. I need more than we'll kyle scheming up for you. And i need you take those shots. Further down the field. Yes you did fairly. You did really well on sunday. That was a dart or any more perfect throw. Yeah that was not perfect so this week. We're gonna bring back the by lease or walk off the lot leo. You're up men. You started off. I like to remind everyone buying is obviously. I'm gonna say three years lease is just this season walking off. The lie is basically saying you. Don't see this guy as a contributor for this season. So what are you doing with mitchell. I am buying all the stock and ally. Mitchell i i was into it when they make election Also so you're getting your l'aigle mitchell for you and an elisha mitchell. The wife you get unlucky. The wife got a new car saturday so to her. We buying all the laws mitchell stock here. I demanded minute most are went down. I went right to my fantasy team and did the waiver claim. 'cause i was gonna lose that week anyway. Some pre gonna get first waiver choice added mitchell and all my teams. He gives you everything you need outside zone inside traps We didn't get to see him. Catch the ball backfield. I don't we don't know about his hands. But even if he doesn't over one hundred yards the rest of the way he's giving you sixty seventy yards out of the backfield consistently. That's a win. That is a big. It's a massive win for the forty niners and is often so yes. I am buying all the alleged mitchell stock for this year next year and going forward. Let's keep it in the forty niners running back room healthy. Scratch trae sermon. Are you gonna buy lease or walk. The lot on him. The player on buying the reason call shanahan gave me. I'm walking. i'm not buying. What call kyle with that. He was the third or fourth best running back Ask coming out of camp. If that's the case kyle why was he. Rv one rb to against chiefs to against chargers. Rb to against the raiders. Something happened the rumor is he was late for you. Know he had. He was passed curfew saturday night. If that's true okay. Cool you to be you know when you're to have disciplinary action by all means of course but don't just don't don't lie about the nonsense. We know how to go back and watch a game. Certainly good against the raiders. Be not he did. He did look good against the chargers. Right chargers. He didn't play the charges he didn't do saw him in practice. Yes look good in practice you there. Yes so calm now. Buying what you're selling so no. I'm absolutely walking off the lot. I'm gonna go and just wait for you to put that one on discount. Kyle but i'm i'm buying the player like i like vehicle. I didn't like to salesperson. Ooh ooh way too much about that. i wonder if you're gonna like salesperson on this..

"Whole lot more than what you felt lassie's in will that's because it's true last year deebo samuel was targeted on routes ten yards or more eight times on sunday he was targeted on ten yards or more five times so literally just three less targets downfield on of ten yards or more three times less compared to all his games that he played last season all the routes he ran last season. It was literally just three less in one single game. So he's probably going to accomplish that here against the philadelphia eagles. And and that's what. I get excited about seeing him in the third tier of the defense in trying to break those tackles and look what happens when you get deebo downfield. He can't separate and run it. In for a touchdown and he showed that yesterday. This isn't a guy that you need to get on the jet. Sweep and get ten yards fifteen yards get twenty yards. This is the guy you can throw the ball to fifteen yards down the field and now you ended up with a thirty yard play with a whole lot less of body of work on depots body. Then you would. if you're handing it to him say two yards. Behind the line of scrimmage. Now you're now you're exercising. His body a whole lot. More than fifteen yards outfield and we know deals physical right. We don't need him to prove every play so these jet sweeps and push passes. Yeah they're nice. Cool use them. we use them sparingly. I liked how they use them. They only did it twice with him. he did it three times with him on sunday and the rest were more down the field. He ran like you said he had twelve targets. Yeah most of re past ten yards most of which were past ten and you put other number there. So deebo samuel had himself held game Deformed ford nick bosa both looked back. Healthy and spry deformed more. So i thought had himself a nice game nine pass snaps six pressures one sack. One of those pressures led to a pits. Pick six by drake greenlaw so we felt the immediate impact of a healthy ford. That was absolutely necessary and we felt the effect of a healthy nick. Bosa who did not have the sack numbers that you would have liked. But you have the pressure numbers there. He was held quite a bit. I thought he was beating like a drum to the point where osas jersey was was ripped Significantly after all those holds that he had against seoul. so's getting his butt kicked In this game crazy rookie To tonight get the holding calls against you like is. I know like rope. I hope i mean i'm not. I'm not to say. Call the flag all the time. But i hope there's a little more calls here in the next couple of weeks with is holding stuff because yes we know. Naples is really really good but come on you. Gotta 'cause says just sets up for a bad tendency against the star player in you. Just you don't wanna get in getting that round to where it's kind of what you've heard of cam newton over the past few years of. Oh can you any. He's such a big quarterback that they're they're they're not throwing that that excessive fifteen yard Roughing the passer. I guess when he runs downfield as a runner that they were reluctant to throw that on cam new but yet if if say a smaller guy like derek carr was running downfield and defender comes in and hits them while he's trying to slide. Derek carr gets that penalty to another ten rather than cam. Newton didn't and that's what. I don't want to happen to make bosa is. Everyone knows how big is strong is how great is to wear. It's oh there's little slight hold. But it's nick bosa so he you know he he's probably fine probably didn't affect him too much. Compared to if you had you know a rotational guy in there get held like that. Then it's like okay then. I might throw the flag. I don't know if i'm over thinking this process. I've i just do not want it to be bad tendency toward nick. Boles getting held every game. No one on the you have a thought process. I think it makes sense because some guys get these calls. We've seen it repeatedly in the nfl with players and how they do things but those two guys were absolutely outstanding on sunday Let's get to jimmy garoppolo. We spoke enough about the quarterback situation all off season ripe leading up to the season rightfully so because it was the most important position it still remains the most important position. Jimmy garoppolo the word. That i would use for his day is efficient. Nothing spectacular. Nothing bad but absolutely fishing. Seventeen of twenty five. Yeah seventeen to twenty five. Three fourteen one touchdown i want to say he was five or five on your passes. Fifteen yards or deeper So good jimmy showed up after the fumble to start the game. I think jimmy garoppolo had three dumb throws one of which should have been picked off the one that george killa got they got popped up in the air and then the other two were just One was the throw behind deebo uncertain four with six minutes left and there was another one dealer though slightly behind that was dropped earlier on the game but overall jimmy garoppolo looked pretty good and of a beer wrote a piece. He had spoken to jimmy. Garoppolo after post game on sunday just spoke about her jimmy garoppolo seeing saying things he said and i quote it felt slow out there today and that's always a good thing i think would jimmy garoppolo. My whole issue with him was physically. He's going to be who he is right. That's just he's thirty years old. This is what is going to look like for the rest of his career. Could he improve mentally and he spoke about the mental aspect of the game when he spoke to a beer post game and if jimmy garoppolo is understanding the offense much better than that's beneficial for the niners right if he understands what he's seeing post pre and post nap that's gonna be very beneficial for the forty niners so we're any to see more of that. Now this is the detroit lions defense. We're talking about here. So maybe look because they are bad. But i'm gonna give them a little. I'm going to give him schuman's and bail hair if he's thinking if he's thinking like this that's a positive the also did mention that kyle was on fire with the play calling. He was really in his own. So if your coaches in line with the quarterback and a quarterbacks along with the coach that's a complete positive but if i'm going to nitpick third and fourth six minutes ago you have to hit that pasadena don't throw it behind him. Put it where he can catch it and run an end that game with six minutes because if you end the game convert on third and forward six minutes ago. You don't see those last six minutes of the game. Where you put dante johnson island and jerry golf starts taking more part and you don't get the onside kick that hits kid you likely get the clock down to three or two minutes. Detroit gets the ball back now. There's a probably of forty four to seventeen or forty nine seventeen. The games completely hands over you gotta convert late third downs. A better team might come back all the way to win that game man. If i'm nitpicking are may say what the hell is george gill doing on the hands team at least right there in that position like if i'm nitpicking. I saw i saw them do that. In the joint practices against the chargers they did practice. Onside kick in you. Know they have the hands t- mouth and i saw george gabon in that same exact position in joint practice and even then i thought to myself why the hills george kill on the hands team. Ross dwellers nowhere near the tight end of george kill Dwelling has better hands than george. Biddle i like brandon ucs catch radius. And if we're talking about hands brandon are ucs not worse that catching albeit the you know the drops in the preseason still not worse at catching than george biddle. Why isn't brandon euch in that position. Why george kiddle he he. He's had a little bit of the hips. The past couple of seasons and i don't know i just had a question to it..

There are hits so it wasn't just permission to to take a map of permission to take out his own nephew. But after taking down over one hundred mobsters i can tell you this. The real thing is much more interesting. I'm elian honing former mob prosecutor and host of the new podcast up against the mob up against the mob lifts the veil on the world's most secretive criminal organization cosa nostra. We'll talk to prosecutors former mobsters an undercover agents and unlike hollywood all these stories are true. New episodes drop every wednesday starting september eighth. Listen and follow up against the mob on apple podcasts. Spotify or your favorite podcast app. Let's get to the good this team. Jimmy garoppolo sala game ally. Mitchell solid game. he lo- samuel wide receiver. one level. type game yes ford. Really great pass wraps one leads to pick six. One is the sack nick. Bosa had had a hell of a day kudos to the offensive line as well for the forty niners trance always going to be trained but lincoln had a really good day. Even though shanahan said fifty one percent of the muffed bumble to start the first Possession of with the forty niners was fifty. One percent of it was alex. Max fault but veteran guy like himself literally did not affect him a single moment in the game just literally you know soon as he got back on the field for that second series forgot about it essentially bronchial had a really good day especially in the run game. And and same with mike. Mcglinchey run skill mcglinchey. Were the only two that did allow one pressure and No sacks. I believe that sack of garoppolos was tally to church kiddle. If i'm not mistaken or might have been elisha. Mitchell was kill but yeah because kills supposed to have the edge but yet he went to go block down inside. That was his no responsibility. So it's not terrible safety blitz as well. It wasn't an edge. Rusher was the safety blitz ally mitchell. Wow you nine. Hundred zero four touchdown we all we just talked about where he moisture in his opponents to this offense but elisa mitchell showed well we saw in college great burst what i was surprised with physicality at the point of attack. The physical ability to run through tackles arm tackles breaks tackles. Just keep his legs moving and fall forward. They're very rarely. Do we see them fall backwards or make a you know lose yardage one big hit in the whole but he got right back up Mitch was very impressive. The niners found something there and as always find something late in the draft. You know with these running backs whether it's under the fridge late round pick absolutely in like when you think of mitchell you don't especially think of someone who's a guy that's gonna run through a middle of the defense in between the guards but yet elisha mitchell did that. He had a ten yard carry when running in between the center and the guard left guard. I should say. And then he had another twenty art kerry when he ran in between the the center and the right guard and then he had a twenty three yard carry when he took it around. George on the right end of that offense flying. So you're seeing a mixture of his you know of a bag essentially with elisha mitchell. He's not a one one play cat. He can run in between the guards nash. Just for a rookie. With a four. Four speed at five eleven. That's just not looking to just get me outside of the title and get me outside of the tackle no. I'll do whatever you told me to do. Buzz and you want me to run and be right next to the center. I'm gonna run right next to the center and put up you know. Twenty yard kerry here So that's why you like to see what the of mitchell usually like. You wouldn't be to surprise if you're getting back kind of rep from a first round running back safe. It was nausea harris in his offense doing that. You've like okay. Yeah he's supposed to do that. This is what he was expected to do. But the fact that. You're seeing no elisha mitchell do that. Who was six round pick of this team. Literally all thirty two teams passed up on elisha mitchell of the for the forty niners decided to go ahead and select them and he's looking like a hell of a player a hell of a player in like what you said it's more or s to where he's not going down essentially on the first contact like say a matt brita would And someone with his speed. That's what you enjoy to where can have that four four speed. But yet he's not an easy takedown and he's actually pretty pretty built for his size. He he's not. You know a slender man. Out there. At the running back position or he's not as as small is That cat from From the chicago bears. They're they're running back to over there. That had the season ending injury tariq cohen. There we go. I figure when i just talk about him. A little more than names in pop in my head So he's not as small as a as a tariq cohen by yet he could do a whole lot a whole lot more damage when running the ball. Mitchell had seven attempts to the right side of the often line for sixty four yards and a touchdown and then Left side wide left was seven attempts for twenty seven yards so is outside. Zone fits in well. He was explosive on those runs. He looked very very good. The niners have found something with this six round pick. And they're gonna need to perform. And they're all gonna trade sermons perform and their need to michael hasty to perform Where they do with another running back position. Maybe they've bring someone else in they cover with those three backs and jeff. Wilson is on the mend. You should be back by week six or you know week eight. That's a plus. Get him back over. The niners can survive these first six weeks. Just these three bags without having to go into the well of free agency or just other. You know poaching guys off other practice squads so now do johnson from jacksonville. I mean you're miami guy. I guess i mean they have seven million dollars cap to play with the last thing do is but he's trained trained in a trade super cheap seventh round. Pick to send it. Okay i'll be down. Philip linzie and his offense i'll be down. One hundred percent fits perfectly good. Deebo samuel absolute stud yesterday outside of his fumble a hell of a day. Deebo nine receptions on twelve targets one hundred eighty nine yards and a touchdown had he not fumbled. He likely is the. I mean. he's probably still a player of the game. But he's definitely getting some player of the game recognition if that was if he didn't fumble that last reception he made dwell heard all the chatter. He's a extension of the run game. He's a glorified running back. No this is what we talked about. What i've been harping on with would him. He's more than that. He's going to be able to get down. The field deebo samuel. His average separation was three point. Nine eight according to next gen stats. The average for the league is two point. Eight seven yards. He literally had a yard more than the average and yes lobby was skimmed open. But a lot of is his route. Running into the ability to scrimmage and be guys to is point where he needs to get to in the routing touring and if you go look next gen stats with some of these charts. Divas route was absolutely beautiful So he's more than just this jets. We push past type of receiver. He's going to be able to get downfield run. Those jeff routes run those deep posts. Give jimmy garoppolo really good target to throw to I thought he had a hell of a game. He was really good in the run blocking and even blocking for george kit on on for his reception. So deebo gives you everything. I would've liked seila more. We'll get to that later. Deibel had himself a hell of a game. What i like about this. This game is seen him downfield seeing him in the third tier of a defense trying to break those tackles compared to having to get past the first here to the second tier then in the third tier. It's just a lot more work for the man. And that's what i enjoy with. Deebo samuel. it's you weren't just like kidding yourself when you watched yesterday's game while you listen to this game will be two days ago on sunday to where you felt like depot was getting targeted downfield a.

"The four hundred signed dre kirkpatrick today. he was in for a visit early in the offseason tried out. It'll work out. They were impressed. They didn't come to an agreement at that time. But now he's in there and David lombardi did tweet out and put in his article that the four hundred had expressed interest in camden slur of the minnesota. Vikings though thing has come of it but it is something to monitor as we go forward the rest of this week and the team is also maintaining an open. Dialogue with richard sherman. Who remains unsigned. So the niners are looking. They are in the market. There are trying to correct. This cornerback room. I think you this. Is this something that could have been you know address in what march april so it E- hell even june july and now we're just sitting here still talking about the weakness of this team which is the cornerback position. You're someone who's been adamant about drafting one early. A day one dayton day one mainly they get one day too but the wrong idea to i would have liked to seen them trade up for a guy like a pulse. Deebo who actually got an interception this weekend and didn't go too far up from From what. Thomas did out of michigan when they forty nine selected him but yeah. It's like i want to say. Oh it's got josh warming coming in. And they'll be fine but it's that's not the case. josh. Norman isn't the two thousand fifteen josh norman. And then drake her patrick. Yeah he's coming in but is he going to be available this week. I i would say not likely considering that josh norman wasn't available on sunday and drake kirk patrick. He has looked better in zone last season. Then in man the forty niners or whatever reason ran more zone on sunday which we were probably expecting a little more but So like there's some fit there if he continues to play at a high level in zone. I'm talking about drake patrick. Because last season he only had sixty six passer rating against stu interceptions no touchdowns giving up which is pretty impressive. But then you look at the game logs in and or the tape especially in look what he did against the seattle seahawks it was ugly was targeted. Twenty times gave up seventeen catches gave up. What like one hundred sixty six yards. In in receiving in two touchdowns no interceptions no pass breakups and the seahawks did what ever they wanted against a drinker. Patrick based off week. One looks like the seahawks may have a better. Oh see than. They've ever had their under a russell wilson era so that's going to enhance the challenge for drake or patrick and gmc those guys Yeah there's a problem there's a problem. I don't know if there's any in season fix at the moment. This is kind of going to be one of those were. You're just gonna have to scrub in and hope it doesn't pop back up and continue to scrub scrub scrub. Hope that nothing. You know dirty pops back up for me. I wouldn't mind if they brought back. Richard sherman but i think at this point they gotta see what's going to happen. Glancing they want is to come into an agreement with richard sherman and then have them end up on the. Nfl's simplest that and then they would have to go ahead and sign somebody else. On top of richard sherman. Now you're allocating your minimal cap room that you already had which was only seven million dollars standard the season and now you've essentially in the spread that arale two corners than just one will see. Just hey no more injuries. Let's go ahead and get a manual mostly back in if emmanuel moseley's back and they are running this more zone that fits moseley as well. So we'll we'll see what happens from there but yet this is just one of those. What is it that the flex seals where he see that mean where he has the little flexible cut out and he just slaps it on says. Hey it's fixed that that's essentially. What the situation is when they signed josh berman. And when they signed drake kirkpatrick. I'm hopeful that this cam dancer thing comes to fruition. I like cam. i liked them. I did i think minnesota was. Should you know. Minnesota's minnesota look what they are on defense. I i you know sometimes it. Is you get placed in in a bad spy. And i think that's kind of issue with camden slur. If i'm not mistaken. I believe he's over six foot and ran like a six hour sees me and ran like four four forty correct. Yeah he was in that range I'm going to the vikings website right now as we speak. Just to check out cams numbers here. But i think you and i and others expressed that the niners needed to either take a wide receiver or a corner in round two this aaron banks thing. That's right now. Looks like a whiff trae sermon missing. week one healthy scratch and then call giving his answer about. Yeah he was the third best running back in the room when you had him playing first team. Reps against the raiders in vegas and then the chief so which is it. Something happened here. There's a disconnect there and then of course trae is not starting so your first. Three picks aren't providing anything of value right now when you should've probably drafted a corner in round two. I know i was excited about the banks. Pick and i did like the sermon pick but we all knew that. Your cornerback room was thin very very thin and i understand the whole we value pass rush over coverage and pass rushes tied to coverage. But also there's there's some there's a factor in here that covers tied to pass rush to right. You still need one corner. You still need something at the cornerback. Position twenty nine hundred nine hundred successful. Yes because they had a good pass rush. But they also had richard sherman whether him shutting down. His third was based on reputation is play smarts. It still happened right. The niners won't have anyone that anybody fears domino. Lenore yes. He had a really nice game. But it was the lions you know. No one's really worried about. Quincy's in tarot williams which you might be worried about. Devante smith jalen ray next week. Then you got devante. Abbas week after that and then got decay and lock it and then hopkins like the gauntlet of wide. Receiver is coming up. If you can't get to the quarterback fast enough from philly. look at thurbers devante. Smith is really good. It looks like julian rigors turned a corner tunnel screen to the house. I think that was the play. I i saw. Who didn't didn't yeah so. He took tunnels into the house. And and philly's got some targets. They you know they also got the two weapons at tight ends as well so you know it. Essentially going to be a walkover from receiving core standpoint late. They were the past two. Three four years is just frustrating and they'd icon. I hope they do this. Cam dancer thing comes out because look the vikings cornerback. Depth chart left corner. Patrick peterson mackenzie alexander harrison. Hand right corner. Rashawn berlin chris bourne cam to answer like cams buried on the death star. Why what happened. How do you go from one last year for this team to c. b. six minnesota's toxic at this moment minnesota's toxic. They need to. They need a new head coach man. it's issues they. They need something different. There in love camden slur. I looked it up. He had one of those kobe. Forty is what i was referring to. When all of sudden everybody was running us up for four when they were performing at their school in pro days yet a four three eight on on his pro day. So i don't know how accurate that is but it's also like what you see on tape see. Getting burnt buys is he. You know is getting burnt by a guy that clocked in four or five or c keeping up with the guy that clocked in four four So it also depends on tape is anyone. Could you know look better than what they are in shorts and a shirt to make gotta fix this. He has keys to ferrari. Don't crash it. Let's get back to what we know stephen can do. Sunday was not a good example of that today..

He's been all over this kid since the draft out of Louisiana Lafayette, Elijah Melt Mitchell Polly allies Coming three Dog night 19 carries 100 and four yards and a touchdown. The 1st 49 our rookie ever to Crest 100 yards in his debut. So the 49 escort 41 Like I said, the most in the NFL. That is hum baby number one. Oh, When is it when my brothers back is Elijah Mitchell toss right side behind the tight end Flags are down. Mitchell into the secondary breaks a tackle capture San Fran, Cisco call back time. How throws over the middle. It's intercepted running back the other way for the 49 ers strike. Greenlaw texter must be open sand. Fred Cisco. Jared Goff throws another pick six against the 49 ers. Greenlaw had his eyes on the quarterback the whole way. And just as golf was getting hit, that ball comes out and green law is there to pick it off. Jimmy gets hit fluttering Ball down the sideline cut by Deebo. Samuel breaks a tackle now when we run all the way inside the 2010 5 Touchdown. San Fran Cisco. How did he catch that ball? 79 your words That was good. Felt good. Get out there. Obviously not the way we wanted to finish it. But There was we were rolling as an offense for a little bit there, and we've got a pretty good group of cows calling the plays. He was on fire. And, uh, yeah, I mean, we're all pretty good. So she got find a way to finish a little better. But at the end of the day, it wins the wind cow actually extra team like, how do we feel about the wind? And nobody said anything? Because at the end of the game like we just gotta we just gotta finish the game like we started and then, uh, I'm glad we got the window. I still got a lot to learn and pass blocking his style. But, uh, I got a great coach and you don't make sure get right. That's young Elijah Mitchell.

An Alibaba Beatdown
"Alibaba. Closing the books on a record shattering singles day sales event. The tech giant says gross merchandise value. Seventy four point one billion dollars over the eleven day event but check out what happened to baba shares in hong kong trade. They fell nearly ten percent following a massive crackdown on the company. By the chinese government. Deirdre bosa is here with the very latest on this story. Deebo well in years past melissa. Single day has been all about those huge numbers that show the reach of china's internet giants. This time though that may be seen as more of a riskier. Flex justice singles was getting underway. Beijing's antitrust watchdog put countries tech giant's notice issuing draft rules aimed at rooting out monopolistic practices. Now the news hits the biggest names. Not just alibaba tencent. Jd dot com as well in hong kong by between seven and ten percent in. Just one session now. Alibaba is you know has already been under pressure. Since aunt groups halted ipo. The fintech also faces a changing regulatory landscape. More broadly guys regulatory pressure could be signaling. A new era for chinese tech. Not unlike what we're seeing for our own. American tech companies alibaba president michael evans told me earlier today. That transparency will be key. We need regulatory transparency. So that investors the company regulators. Everyone else can see the transparency and understand the rules by which the game will be played. That's where we're at over the last decade or more. The giants have been seen as national champions evidence of china's tech prowess surpassing even their american counterparts by some measures like users and growth. But now melissa. The draft rule suggests that beijing thinks that they have become too big and wants to rein them in perhaps giving a new crop of companies a chance to content back over to you all right deirdre. Thank you deirdre bosa for us tim. I'll go straight to you on this. I mean it was once thought that as national champions firms like alibaba and by intense they were backed effectively by the chinese government. And here we are in a very different position which violators of that. New regulation could be forced to divest of assets of intellectual property A whole host of measures. That would be very punitive so Deebo brought up a pretty good point also just that this anti regulated. This is the doj quivalent. We should say what that's meant for. Companies in our country mega cap texas Largely been nothing. But let's be clear about that As a guy that's invested in emerging markets for a long time and has seen governments dismantle companies. It got too big or too influential whether it's oil companies in russia whether it's been power companies in brazil. The national champions in china are just that i think the regulator has to evolve on the fly. I don't think they're gonna be telling these companies apart. And i think this is an opportunity. Remember china wants these companies to be global and dominant and they want them to work with the next wave of chinese tech companies. They're coming and yes they'll be competitive Influences but i think this is an opportunity but still the context of this is that these tech regulations came a week after the government forces suspension of the ant financial ipo karen which forced you as an investor in alibaba to actually reevaluate because it. It changed the rules to the point. Where aunt may not be as valuable as it once was. I think that's true. I think aunt will be unlikely in the short term to be as valuables. It was the very best cases. there's no new regulations. I don't think that's the most likely outcome. But you gotta think about how far the stock has fallen. And i think you know i agree with just about everything tim said of them. Being national champions. I think they're trying to this is really a spanking for jack. Ma and i think that ultimately i don't know how much of a difference it'll make in their in how powerful they are so when i look at how much the stock has come down if i own none. I would buy it right here. I don't own none. I own a fair amount. So i didn't add today. My next by next action probably would be to add. And i think that i don't know how long it's gonna take to resolve this but in my experience. Panicking on news like this has never been the right thing to do. So maybe this time it is the right thing to do but we look at what happened with the the internet companies. The gdp are we looked at having the antitrust with google stock traded up. We look what happened with facebook. Stock traded up. So i'm not gonna panic out of it. I may be the last one out when they dismantled the whole thing. But if i owned on abide here

Uber and Lyft ordered to classify drivers as employees
"Are following a developing story and Uber lift both stocks are on the move following California court ruling Deirdre has got the very latest deirdre. The court's ruling is stayed for ten days to allow Uber to appeal but it would force the ride sharing companies to immediately we classify their drivers as employees in California in a statement Uber says quote when three million Californians are without a job our elected leaders should be focused on creating work trying to shut down an entire industry during an economic depression lift for its part said quote drivers do not want to be employees full stop will immediately appeal this ruling and continue to fight for their independence. If the appeal is not granted or there's no further stay, there is a chance. Melissa that. Could shut down their APPs entirely in California Uber keeping. Mind has over one hundred, thousand drivers in the state and bringing them on his employees I'm told would be nearly impossible. Now, the other option is that they continue to operate and risk legal liability as you were saying, shares of Uber and lift their down about one and a half and two and a half percent respectively in the after hours investors, they do know very. Well that regulatory pressures had been building, but as I said, Melissa, this was a key battle in one of the most one of their most important markets and it comes as other states from New York to Illinois Massachusetts are looking at similar legislation and to be clear this doesn't just affect ridesharing Uber's pivoting towards food delivery. The classification of those drivers are also at stake here back to you did your thanks dude or both? And I I would think that the stocks would be down even more if this was seen as a true threat to the business particularly for Uber. Yeah I think Deebo said it I mean the expectation was this outcome here we know that Dr Uber was out in the New York Times pending an op Ed making a lot of the points that Deirdre just mentioned here there isn't a whole heck of a lot of evidence that a lot of these workers actually WanNa be fulltime employees they actually like driving for lift and Uber Maybe doing a little post mates little caviar here so it'll be interesting to see what happens just mentioned this would lift you know. They're going to report in a couple of days after the close. After we saw Uber's seventy five percent year every year client ride bookings. GonNa be a really important one for lift the only North American rideshare. That's why this issue in California is probably more significant to them. But I'll just mentioned this at a seven and a half billion dollar enterprise value lift is way too cheap an asset even with all the losses that they have right now ridesharing whether these gig economy workers are employers are not is here to stay in Google wants fitbit for two billion dollars for their data. So many certainly wants lift yeah. I would also think that these drivers in during a time of pandemic one job whether it be classified as a contractor or full employees. I'm sure they're not that picky at this point, Tim? I think there's a lot of folks that enjoy being an independent contractor gives a lot of flexibility not only with how they live their days and how they deal with their families and what they can do. But also from a tax perspective and I I agree with what dancing and there's a lot of these guys at work for multiple a rideshare companies and also agree that I've said this before if you WanNa hail a cab in a major urban center now good luck it's not happening and rideshare is here. There's arguments that this did not do things for pricing for people all around the country, but but the reality is I love Uber here but I look at the chart and yes, they've had about a fifteen, a little twelve, thirteen percent pullbacks, their numbers. But at the bottom here of this rain been in around thirty three bucks, this is a stock that takes you back to a level where I think it's it's found support and you've priced in a lot of bad news. This post mates acquisition gives them thirty seven percent essentially delivery of the food business. And I think it's something that ultimately allows them to leverage their platform don't love the stock, but there's a lot of bad news in here and I think most of that bad news has been priced in.

Breaking down Trent Williams' trade to the 49ers
"Trent Williams dealt from the Redskins to the forty Niners for five today in a three next year and we're breaking it down as you just heard the guys drafted by Kyle Shanahan and Trent Williams is a talented guy and if you look at the forty niner list of to do list today are coming into this traffic should say replacement for Buckner check can log the impact wide receiver who can start opposite Deebo Samuel check brand in the UK left tackle replacement for Joe Staley check Trent Williams would yes thanks I I I mean it it's it's it's it's pretty awesome I mean I I'd be it can't be that simple I mean can you just can you just go in the draft in in it that you would think is what you're supposed to do you you you you talk about the team that you know the one that wins the NFC west you go to the Super Bowl you miss the Superbowl basically by one play and and and you want to get better and I think after the Superbowl in after free agency you you start thinking whether the team is not as good as they used to be I think if you look at the team now I mean you would have to think that you know they are as good or better then they were going to the Superbowl yeah I I mean you only hold off on saying that is because we haven't seen this combination of guys play together yet put Trent Williams is a like I just got a text from our buddy Kevin Francis a good pick great pick

The Lead
Hail to the Chiefs
"All right so this was an incredibly even matchup but at the end of the day a clear. Oh you're winner emerged Jaylo well and Shakira like let's let's give her due to Yemen Jaylo whatever. She's whatever over she's taking to look and move like that at fifty you know we can all take a lesson from her and And who knew she could move on a pole. It is kind of funny that you know. So how many years. After the wardrobe malfunction we now just have performers on stripper Poles. All right so let's talk about this remarkable game I What was the vibe in the stadium before kickoff? Yeah I mean listen. It's the Super Bowl right. People are excited. I will say that there were a lot more chiefs fans then niners fans and that was kind of to be expected. That's how it's been in Miami all week I think ESPN projected before the game that it was going to be sixty seven percent Kansas the city fans which would make it the most lopsided attendance in history and it really did man. It felt like achieves home game. You had the chance and you know it was a sea of red. Obviously because both nighters and she's fans where red but but chiefs fans definitely were taking over and you could tell when they did the introductory lineups? You could tell. Whenever they they showed chiefs players are coming through the tunnel the stadium which get loud And conversely a lot of booing being whenever the camera would focus on the niners. And you know we've talked a lot in the buildup to this game this week about Kobe. Bryant he just is looming over the world of sports so largely right now now and there was a beautiful tribute to him before the game began. Yeah so there was a moment of silence before America. The beautiful and national and the national anthem were song on Four Koby daughter Jonah and the other seven victims of the helicopter crash. Sure Sunday's they will never be for each of the teams Rosters were lined up on their own twenty four yard line. No Mosh to Kobe's number twenty four as the moment of silence happened and a few players were also wearing purple and gold cleats during warmups. All right so this was expected to be a close game and the first half was incredibly. Even what jumped out at you from that first half. Yeah I mean the first half was super even obviously. We went into to the second half tied at ten The first quarter kind of gave you a setup of how this of how you thought this game was going to go you know. Both teams had strong drives early San Francisco got the running game going out of the gate with deebo Samuel But despite controlling the ball for nearly six minutes in their opening drive that drive only ends in a field goal the chiefs then come back to answer with a really strong drive heavily favoring Running back Damien Williams play action was really working for them in four achieves team. Who's WHO's running game isn't nearly as strong as San Francisco's? This was pretty key for them on that particular drive third and eleven and Patrick mahomes shows off the legs he takes off off and he appears to get the first down but then he fumbles after a hard hit pushes him back. So it's now fourth and one and Andy Reid. has this decision to make. Does he go for word on further on fourth and one it's early in the game. San Francisco's defense was the best in the league. This season on stopping fourth and one And kind of going into this game you know you don't really ever know what he's GonNa do on fourth down but he ends of going for it. And it's absolutely right call Damian Williams gets the first on a short run and Patrick mahomes eventually takes it into the end zone. Himself for the touchdown and the chiefs go up seven to three and early in the second. Quarter Jimmy Garoppolo threw an interception reception and the chiefs and up on a drive with another fourth and one and they go for it again. Yeah and it ends up being the right call again now. Let's remember that Andy. He read only went for it on fourth down ten times in the regular season and here he's gone for it twice in the first twenty minutes of the game so clearly. It's the Super Bowl. He's putting everything on the table and it ends up being the right. Call it results in points. The chiefs the cheesecake field goal. And they go up ten to three okay so at this point Jimmy. Garoppolo has just throw an interception. Forty niners are struggling a bit and it looks like they need a big drive to get back into the game and they get it they did. The the very next drive is really a statement driver San Francisco. The run game really got going. The five straight strong runs including a touchdown throw. Oh a play action pass to a very unlikely hero. Kyle used check the fullback. We got a fullback touchdown in the Super Bowl who also became the first player from Harvard? Ever to score touchdown in the Super

Duke vs. Virginia Tech: Predictions for March Madness Sweet 16 matchup
"Nick when I look at Duke, they showed some vulnerability in escaping by the slimmest margins against UCF. But this is a team that's lost. Only one game this year when Williamson RJ bear and Cam radish have been on the floor. They've been. Of the most proficient under teams from any side in the power five conferences, hitting sneer Lee. Seventy one percent of the games they've exceeded expectations from beyond the arc. But can that continue against buzz Peterson his hokey defense? The first thing you think about his Virginia Tech beat Duke earlier this year, but Zion didn't play and Justin Robinson point guard. Virginia Tech didn't play in that game either. So you kind of take anything from that game tangibly and throw it out. But I will say this. I think the intangible aspect of of hearkening back to that game matters because they're always as even for a conference Bove or Judy tuxedos Duke when you see Duke trot onto the floor in the NCAA tournament. One of the biggest things you have to overcome as intimidation, and you have to believe you can beat the big dog the big bully deebo on the block and Virginia Tech.

For Cal in the Big Game, its always maybe next year
"You're listening to the spoken edition of the San Francisco Chronicle. For Cal in the big game. It's always maybe next year. There are times when a habit never grows old Stanford's football program nose. The feeling no matter how often the cardinal beat cow, and that's nine street wins after Saturday's twenty three thirteen victory. There's an exhilarating freshness to carrying the axe around the field, and it's all the sweeter. If it happens in strawberry canyon. There wasn't much to say about the game. Not with the bears. Simply refusing to accept the golden opportunities coming their way, there were no trombone players on the field. No mud-soaked miracles or fond farewells Trump beloved coach, none of the vivid developments that have characterized the big games history. And it's not such a crushing development for the bears. Seven five who will feel better about things when they're bowl game to be determined. Sunday comes around later this month. Still nothing discuss Cal sporting community. Like the site of Stanford winning this game with the student section big. Sunlight people. Were in. No rush to leave not even after Paulson debates. Forty three yard interception return setup. Stanford's final score in the weaning minutes. This had been terrific day for attendance to the point where the announced figure of fifty seven thousand eight hundred fifty eight actually seemed a few thousand short making a pleasant. Contrast to the desolate Levi stadium Friday nights Pac twelve championship game, oddly, the only disappointing attendances you was on Stanford's end of the six sections set aside for the red-clad visitors in the stadium southeast corner. Some were notable for their vacancy, but the voices were loud and proud backed by the ever ninety Stanford band, and those people got a mighty reward at game's end heading their way trotting joyously across the field. We're seniors Jake Bailey. JJ Sega Whiteside and Ryan Beecher toting the weighty impressive acts as so many Stanford players have done before in a rivalry carrying this much tradition. You'd like to think they trade the thing off on occasion. But. This trophy has become strictly farm property. It's always maybe next year for cow. Always a sense of envy and regret. Nobody expected the bears passing game to even approach Stanford's high-powered attack led by quarterback cage Acosta. Hello and our Sega Whiteside who entered the game with fourteen touchdown catches. And yet the chances were there and roundly blown in the second quarter with Stanford leading ten three quarterback. Chase Garber had Jordan Dunkin open in the end zone on a third and five pass from the seven yard line. But overshot him Dunkin barely getting a fingertip on the ball the bear settled for another. Greg Thomas field goal wide receiver. Jeremiah Hawkins had a couple of nice catches on the day. But he'll mostly be remembered dropping a perfect pass along the right sideline in the third quarter costing the bears about a twenty yard play and killing Dr. Then there was a deebo spectacular end zone. Interception early in the fourth quarter. Notable by the fact that the intended receiver MO ways was nowhere near the ball. All when garbs finally connected on a touchdown. Throw an eleven yard Dunkin. There were just ten seconds left in the game. He's a younger player, and he's got to continue to improve coach Justin Wilcox that have gardeners. I thought he took a step forward. One hundred ninety seven yards passing to Custos two hundred thirty seven even though there were some opportunities. He would love to have back. You're going to have a tough time beating Stanford if you're not scoring touchdowns in describing the mood of his post game locker room Wilcox said everybody's kicked in the gut. And as the regular season ends that could apply in large part to the entire pack twelve aside from the lamentable TV contract and ever do be officiating. The championship game is an ongoing disaster Levi stadium with a contract running through next season and an option for twenty twenty beyond that it's likely to find a more lively neutral site home in Las Vegas. But if anyone's thinking clearly that game should be returned to the home fields of top seeded teams as it was in two thousand thirteen. In Stanford overcame, a hostile setting to win at Arizona state. Then again, it's tough for anyone to think clearly when packed off Commissioner Larry Scott seem so consistently misguided even the Washington and Utah fans were booing Scott during Friday nights postgame ceremony. But why so many reasons I'd start with the fact that college football, and especially the Pac twelve needs an eighteen playoff. While Scott preposterously insists that four is absolutely the right number as for the lingering mood after Saturday's big game. It was a time for Stanford's Victoria's chance and Cal second thoughts. There's nothing you can tell our guys right now that will make them feel better said Wilcox. There was deep appreciation. However for a home crowd that finally resembled a big time collegiate atmosphere gazing into the jam-packed eastern stands. I just stood there at enjoyed the moment said senior Maliki McMorris the rumble.
