"That brings us to our next question. Former 49er quarterbacks and where they are now and what's happening. I mean, you got Garoppolo, you got Purdy, you've got, uh, well, what's his name that got traded into Oblivion. Went to, did he go to Texan? Who are we talking about? Who is the quarterback in San Francisco who is all, everything. And they, Trent, uh, Oh, Trey Lance. Trey Lance. Oh, yeah. He's in the season. Everybody's forgotten about him already. Yes. Never going to play a football game. Okay. Question for both of you. Will Brock Purdy turn it around? And also number two, will the, will the Raiders get rid of Garoppolo? The Raiders will never get rid of Garoppolo cause he's too gorgeous. And, uh, Brock Purdy will turn it around. That team is way too talented for him not to turn it around. I agree. I actually agree with James on both of those. I think they're not only are they an incredible talented team, Brock Purdy's a good quarterback. He makes good decisions. Uh, it's tough to rattle him. Um, I, I believe if, if, I mean, losing Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel, I mean that that's a one, two punch that any quarterback's going to struggle with the kids going through some growing pains and he's finally facing some adversity in the NFL. I mean, it's about time he won his first eight, nine games, however many it was. So, you know, he, he just, he's come back down to earth and he looks human, but yeah, they're, they're going to make it better. And I hesitate to make any predictions about what the Las Vegas Raiders are ever going to do in the future. I love it. I love it. James, did you talk about my quarterback in Los Angeles? I mean, Las Vegas Raiders as being handsome. I don't, I don't care if he's rear end ugly. Okay. I want him to be able to throw the ball and not hit the barman in the back. But he's not ugly. And that's why he's still in Vegas. Listen, if there, listen, beautiful people get away with a lot of things, but Jimmy Garoppolo is on another level all the time. It's it's true though. Like he, I'm telling you, they, they probably, every team is like, you know, we got to get rid of this guy and then he walks into the room for negotiations and they're like, son of a, we can't let him go look at him face on all our billboards. Otherwise we're not going to have a female audience. I'm telling you right now, he is because he was, because he at some point with the 49ers obviously had some momentum and played okay. I guess, um, he just, he gets to stay and because there's so few good quarterbacks in this league, look how many teams are struggling because of

"Yeah, you know, the only thing I want to add to that is, like, you know, people talk about the 13 seconds against the Chiefs, and the Bills should know better, but I'm like, look at maybe your last couple games where Russell Wilson just, you know, threw a prayer down the field and got a DPI to set up a game-winning field where his time expired, like, why don't you just try that, you know, just throw it down there, and I really want to go into Sean McDermott's mind, I know he got asked questions about it, but I'm like, was that pick six Hail Mary on his mind from Black Friday, where like, yeah, you know what, I'd rather go for it than we lose a game, I'm like, you know, it's the Jets, have more faith in your team with that, I don't think that was a process, but I'm like, what's going on in his mind where you have Josh Allen, who might have the strongest arm in the NFL, just throw it up, it's okay, I think have some little faith in your players, but he's seen a lot of, you know, blown, you know, blown assignments and miscommunication, maybe he got scared, and I know people are talking about firing this time on your map, but, you know, I don't know, it might be time for, like you mentioned with Sean McDermott, he maxed his ceiling, he touched it, ready to go on, you did what you could, it hasn't worked out, so that might be one of these jobs where like, you did not maybe expect to be open, and it could be, and it could, you know, kind of throw a little wrench there for all the coaching candidates. Yeah, no, it's well said, and I think, well, before we move on to the Eagles and Niners, which are gonna preview that game, because you could make an argument, it's best game of the year, little news, as we're doing this, as we're recording this podcast on Wednesday, well, I guess for you it's morning, for me it's early afternoon, Aaron Rodgers, the 21 day window has opened for Aaron Rodgers as the Jets are giving him an opportunity to return to practice, and I don't know how you feel, I'll try to be succinct with this, what? Like what, you're four and seven, and your offensive line looks like me, Gilberto, and three guys off the street, and you're thinking it's a good idea to put this guy back out there right now. Like, my personal opinion of this, I think this is an, hey, look at me, I might be able to practice, look at me, make sure I'm in the newspaper, make sure I'm in the headlines, I think Aaron Rodgers, I don't think it's unfair to say, despite what he says, he likes the headlines and he likes a little bit of attention, and I think this is what this is about, if the Jets actually put him in a game, everybody should be fired, everybody. I don't care if he's healthy, even if he has a miraculous recovery and all that, which I don't think frankly is possible, but if he does, you're going to put him in there when they're five and ten? I mean, what is the point of this? So I don't get it, I think the Jets are just trying to placate him at this point, but I also think it's insane that there's any idea that he might come back this season. Yeah, you know, I had a couple mixed feelings about this, like a couple weeks ago I'm like, you know what, it's been such a miserable season for the Jets, Aaron Rodgers, play a game for next year, it's been such a terrible year, maybe you need something good like that. And then the more they watch this team, and I see Tim Boyle struggle, Zach Wilson, Daniel Hackett, Randall Cobb can't play, Adam Lazar is not even doing anything, he's getting in trouble with the team already, it's like, these are all the choices from Aaron Rodgers, so if Aaron Rodgers plays, and he does well, and you win a couple of meaningless games, it's kind of like, it's an insurance for the franchise, Joe Douglas and Robert Salah, see, we got the right guy, it just didn't work out, and everything he's saying is telling us, it's true, it's okay, let's keep listening to the guy, and it's like, stop giving Aaron Rodgers everything that he wants, I get it, he came to your franchise to try to help you, but you tried it his way, and it didn't work out unfortunately because he's not available, but you gotta have some backup options, you gotta have a roster that could implement, just in case a 40-year-old quarterback gets hurt again next year, we should have a different backup who's more competent, stop getting your boys Aaron Rodgers, or get a wide receiver, or an OC who can work on the fly and just kind of call it a nice game to help out your backup, nothing has worked out with Aaron Rodgers' choices, I'm like, if he plays and he does well, it's more like, see, we did everything right, it just didn't work out, so let's keep doing everything we're doing right now with the healthy Rodgers, and it's like, no, you don't need that, have a couple, plan B, plan C, and try to figure out, because you gotta expect the worst when it comes to this franchise. Yeah, I just, I'm sorry, can you imagine what this is gonna be like if he comes back and blows his Achilles out again? Then what? Then when's he coming back? Like, if the Jets trot Aaron Rodgers out on the field, I don't care what he says, I don't care if he sits behind the scenes saying, look, I wanna be out there, and if I'm not out there, it's gonna be a problem, fine, then it's a problem, I'm not playing you, this is crazy, this is insane, it's like if Joe Burrow, like let's, and I honestly, I know he just had surgery, I'm not sure exactly what the timeline is, but let's say his timeline was four months to recover, and Joe Burrow was like, listen, I know we're hopelessly out of the playoff race, and it's week 17, and my wrist is basically, has like spaghetti tendons at the moment, but you know what I love to do? I like to go out and play against Kansas City on New Year's Eve because it's a rivalry, and I'm feeling like I oughta be out there. Like, there's no world where Zach Taylor's like, yeah, listen, Joe, that sounds like a good idea, let's do that. Like, at some point, you just have to shut him down. I can understand this to some extent, man, if they were in the playoff race or something, okay, you're still taking a huge chance, but I get it, you're four and seven and can't block anybody, you know? I mean, hell, you mentioned Allen Lazard, they signed him to a four-year deal, and Sala, in the presser the other day, is talking about how, yeah, you know, we've got Allen for another year and a half, he's already thinking about cutting him after two years. Let's go to a team that wears green that actually has a clue. The Eagles, who are 10 and 1. They're hosting the 49ers. They have won games against Dallas, Kansas City and the Bills the last three weeks. All of which are very entertaining games. Now they take on the Niners. We'll get to the line in a little bit here because we're going to talk about it one more time here at the end. The Niners are favored in this game and yet it's in Philadelphia. If the Eagles win this game, they're essentially the one seed. I don't know that there's any way that they're not. They'd be three up with a breaker on the Niners. They're two up on the Lions right now already. And the Eagles, they're scheduled after this stretch is not that hard. They play Dallas again but after they get the Giants twice and they have Arizona. They're going to win these games. What are you looking for in this game more than anything else? You know just kind of the intensity level increasing and you know I keep trying to find a game where the Eagles are going to be like okay you know all right that game against the Bills feels like a trap game. You had so much emotion in that Arrowhead game against the Chiefs. You came back. You won. It was a Monday short week. You're kind of due for a track against the Bills. It almost came to fruition but they went to overtime and that's what they do man. They find the way to win and like you were mentioning people are saying well they haven't played their best and I'm like I bet the opponents of the Eagles are thinking yeah that means there's room for improvement. They're 10 and 1. They could get better. That's a scary sight for the rest of the NFL. So you know I keep trying to find a way okay there's got to be a letdown game for this team. Like you know hurts could be sometimes up and down. The secondary is terrible but not this week. They're like that there's such a rivalry there from from last year's you know what could have been should have been and I love this Hunter Redick's quote man I don't be caught it was like a lot of boohoo over there in San Francisco saying what if what could have been well come over to Philly and get it done. So that tells them they're gonna be hyped up for that game and and just say all right you know we want you to stop crying stop complaining we're gonna you know you know come to our house we're gonna show you a physical game and you know I'm just worried about the 49ers being so surprised man that they're actually we're gonna do our picks later but they're the favorites they're like minus two and a half or minus three in Philly but to me it's like this game I think the Eagles have circled it for the entire year whenever the counter came out so I think the intensity level is going to be high for this one and I can't wait for it. The Niners have spent the entire last nine months whining about the fact that they're a better team they should have won this game and look maybe I get it if you're a Niners player you're probably incredibly disappointed you get all the way to that game and then you have no shot I get it like I understand the feelings but when you spend nine months just constantly complaining about the situation like yeah that other team is going to be hyped up to the hilt for this game and by the way so are those fans so that is going to be an interesting spot. I'll give my pick later I'm looking forward to seeing how Purdy plays against the secondary because the Eagles one thing about him this year you can throw the ball all over I mean that they have not stopped teams from throwing the football I'm curious in this game can Purdy who as we just laid out he didn't play really what you play one series in the AFC title game I should have got knocked out the elbow injury like I'm curious what he does against the secondary this is the secondary you can throw the ball on so if the Niners are going to win this game that's how they're doing it they're going to be able they're going to be able to get the ball at you get the kiddo and the debo and on and on and on the flip side can the Niners get a pass rush against that Eagles offensive line Lane Johnson said he's going to be back it's a great front you know now we saw the Chiefs get five sacks and a half it gets felt off you but they play a little differently they bring a lot of different blitz packages can the Niners with that front four with Chase Young now can they get home that's those on both sides of the ball those are the two matchups I'm looking at um I think especially the latter one to me is fascinating who wins that matchup I think it's probably the point of the game yeah I think for me for in terms of matchup wise like what are the four Niners fall behind and the Eagles are just kind of controlling the the game script the tempo the pace whatever it is just being physical having long drives with the tush push fourth and one and Brock Purdy on the sideline cold uh you know Deebo can't get going seems he can't going so and we we know the stats about Kyle Shannon well I don't remember the stat but it's something terrible where like you fall behind the fourth quarter although like 36 or something yeah so I kind of want to see that play out and I think the 49ers need that for the like the last kind of check mark okay are you going to be are you are you finally going to win the Super Bowl we're going to Philly had kind of a physical gritty game maybe it's raining like just kind of have the worst conditions ever and come back and that game and then you go into the playoffs feeling good like right now the 49ers are playing the best football in the NFL this last three game stretch here to forget about the three game winning streak you know you know they should be ranked number one but it's just that that like people like to say the DNA of winning finding a way to do it the Eagles have that they're so talented and that's the scariest side like I mentioned they have room for improvement and they're 10 and 1 so they could get better and I feel like they might get better in this game because of all the crying the last nine months but I kind of want to see the Eagles having their pace and say you're here you're in our home try to win this way because the 49ers that's kind of their thing like they're a little they're physical on defense the second there's a little thin but that offense to me just feels like it's like a like a boxing match you know power against skill and you know what's going to win yeah I am fascinated I mean it also I'm curious in this game like how big of a loss is a funga in this game you know that's not going to show up when you're playing bad teams does it show up on Sunday all right real quick before we get into our bigger story and then the five lines as well of course so right now we talk playoff picture at the beginning of the show which team can be the conference who's on the outside of the playoff picture right now do you think will find their way into the playoffs so okay so a team though it's outside right now that will make it in you know keep looking at the Broncos like I kind of have like the soft spot for the Texans and that's why this game is so big we're gonna we're gonna do our picks here Broncos and the Texans but I keep having an eye on the Broncos man that defense you know I think they had with 14 takeaways in this game this fight game win this referee what it is but there was like a three game stretch where they had 12 oh my that's insane there so playing well defensively and then you know I'm gonna give credit to Sean Payne like you know Sean Payton it was his fault for you know yapping before the season and kind of putting a bullseye on his back and pretty much going to you know what it's a quick fix not gonna hack it and those guys they couldn't do anything watch me do it and they get you know rocked seven to twenty they're one to five but champagne is a good coach and I think if you just kind of didn't talk so much it's like okay all right let's have a process here it's our first year we're gonna get it done we're gonna figure out this roster from the previous regime these players do we like them that we don't and they've kind of gotten past that point okay let's see what we do our way and credit to Sean Payton you know being patient with Vance Joseph and such in this era where people are so impatient and just fire everybody he could easily fire Vance Joseph after September it was it was that bad and they're one of the best defensive units in the NFL and Sean Payne is doing an built-in offense it's kind of like all right Russell you're not the same dude but just play safe protect the ball just give it to your running backs throw it to courtland study whenever we need a ball to be thrown for third or one or or red zone target and it's getting it's working so you know I want to see this defense against CJ Stroud and I think that I'll be the way my pick will kind of turn out I don't want to take the easy route so I'll go with the Broncos but those two teams are in my radar well it works out it's funny I'm actually gonna go with Houston so I think Houston I think Houston's gonna get to 11 wins I think Houston's gonna their schedule's a joke I mean they beat Denver their schedule's really easy down the stretch now I will say Houston's a young team and Houston is the reason Carolina is not winless okay and they lost to Atlanta like they can lose some games they shouldn't but I am taking my feeling on this give me the best quarterback it's not in the playoffs right now and for me Stroud is that kind you could argue Stafford that's fine and maybe we're both dumb for not taking an NFC team because the NFC is such a wreck but I I'll go Stroud I'll go Stroud and the Texans I think they'll they'll find their way in so that that Houston game with Denver as you say huge game major importance real quick actually before we get to the five best games bigger story look we got to bring it up even though the Panthers are 110 right now Frank Reich fired after 11 games I mean that's unheard of Nathaniel Hackett got more games than that Urban Meyer got more games than that Frank Reich universally respected in the NFL one of the good guys by every account and yet he's gone after 11 games one and ten David Tepper moving on couldn't even pronounce his name right in the press conference kept saying I kept saying it wrong what is the bigger story moving forward for the Panthers is it the struggles of Bryce Young was nine touchdowns eight picks this year including a bunch of pick sixes or is it David Tepper's inability to stay out of the football side of operations yeah that's a good question I'm gonna go with Bryce Young let's just help David Tepper figures out oh crap I told people to pick Bryce Young or I didn't say I kind of just initiated or just kind of hinted hey keep keep going with that guy over there instead of CJ Stroud so maybe he feels like all right I effed up here but we got to go work on on the pick that I made so you know I'm gonna go with Bryce Young he like I'm gonna be honest he looks terrible it looks bad doesn't look like he belongs out there and you know the size you know every time I watch him play I'm like he's small out there and you gotta you gotta build a better roster to help him out you can't be a creator away from the pocket that's that was one of the skills of Alabama if you don't have a good offensive line if you don't have any weapons either and you know I'm so mad at myself for thinking this team's gonna be decent in the off season I'm like Miles Sanders not bad dealing mingo okay and I'm like what was I thinking I'm giving this offense a chance and the other part too man it's like you know Tepper building this all-star coaching staff okay they could probably do something here with Frank Wright and I should have known the second that they missed out on Ben Johnson and Frank Wright was prize number two and Tepper was meddling with the coaching staff that's probably not a good recipe to building a good coach over there so but they're stuck with Bryce Young you don't have a first round pick because you gave it away to the Bears you don't have a number one wide receiver because you gave them to the Bears with DJ Moore so and you thought this offensive line bringing them back was the answer it wasn't so you got to rebuild the offensive line get weapons get a good running back and help out your quarterback so I think until then until they do that and get the right personnel I don't want to write off Bryce Young again this in this era people are very impatient it's not looking good I'm not going to deny that but you got to go and somehow give Bryce Young a fighting chance he was your number one pick that you gave up a whole boat load of picks and DJ Moore for so make it work so yeah look you could go either way here I'll always take the temper angle just because you want Bryce Young look I have been a fan of teams that have bad ownership and you're just screwed like there is no way around it okay I am a Knicks fan I have gone through my entire life of James Dolan just getting in the way and finally it appears that he's so tired of being in the way that he's finally just sat down and oh look at that the Knicks are probably going to win 50 games this year okay like it's it is the worst thing that can happen in your franchise okay I for years and years and years my entire life I was an Oakland A's fan in baseball like they've literally gotten me to the point I don't even watch baseball anymore like I hate the owners so much excuse me John Fisher I cannot stand them with such a passion that I will not room for them and I've gotten to know some people in the Brewers organization I'm like yeah that's fine them never thought it was possible I was never somebody who could ever change teams the ownership actually forced me to do it I worry that Tepper is one of these owners who just can't get out of his own way he just cannot like look man I don't care where you made your billions I don't care you didn't make them in the NFL you don't know you don't know and that's a problem like in the NFL guys come in from all walks of life from all types of businesses where they've made their fortunes and of course wherever they were they were extremely successful the problem with that becomes a lot of these guys didn't think well then I'll be successful doing this I know what I'm doing the NFL is a different beast and excuse me and with that some guys learn okay I gotta be more hands-off here and I gotta hire people to do the job and get out of their way and some people never learn that I mean Jerry Jones has been Jerry Jones's entire tenure as the owner of the Cowboys the only thing that saved him early was Jimmy Johnson the second Jimmy Johnson got run off how's that been going I mean you know look you look at Daniel Snyder in Washington the train wreck forever the best owners in the NFL are the ones who hire football people and get out of the has not been able to do that we'll see maybe he'll learn maybe he'll grow he's a young owner but my concern is that Tepper's just going to be one of these guys who's constantly involved the good news is for the pants is I think he's willing to spend the money I think he wants to win but none of that matters if he's the one constantly making the football's decisions and that is where right now from Carolina I'm concerned yeah if you don't get a wake-up call and look yourself in the mirror after this the way it turned out with the number one pick and this whole hiring process with Frank Wright and then also meddling and saying hey pick these guys it's also our team then he's probably gonna learn for a long time and you're probably right there like that's kind of a scary sight to know that this guy could be around for 10 20 years and still be meddling and and just kind of say you know what do that and do that and that could be a whole issue and you know and real quick credit to Albert Breer and Connor Orr for I checked on Monday show and you know one thing that I forgot about like the Panthers can't figure out if they want to start winning now or rebuilding like they trade CMC they keep Brian Burns like they trade DJ Moore you know and think and they go spend money in the opposite thing for Bryson like figure out a route for his path and stay committed and see what happens oh great points by those guys very true um all right let's get in to the week 13 lines as always got a five pack of them uh we're gonna start with Thursday night's game Seattle coming off of a couple of losses now at Dallas, Dallas Satan 3 trying to stay near Philadelphia trying to make that rematch at home matter with the Eagles um the Cowboys are laying nine and a half a huge line and they have been great at home this year they've destroyed teams um they've also played the commanders and the Giants and the Jets and the Pats at home so the Seahawks a little bit of a step up in class but the Seahawks struggling nonetheless you liked uh Dallas here and if you do do you like him by the full nine and a half yeah I'm glad you asked that last part because for some reason I keep believing the Seahawks are gonna make games close like I gave them the the seven points against the 49ers I gave them the seven points against the Ravens getting beat down and I think I'm gonna give them the eight and a half points and Dallas wins a lot at home and I don't know why I keep believing in Seattle but obviously the pick is a cowboy I'm not gonna go away from that it's gonna be the Cowboys but eight and a half is a lot of points and they're just too talented and I just don't learn my lesson went to the Seahawks team and Matt maybe maybe we jinxed ourselves when you're brought up the other day hey we actually picked the Seahawks to be in Super Bowl one of our I guess our previews way back in April and they've been terrible ever since so you know I'll just say this real quick I know we didn't get a chance to talk about the NMC when it came to you know teams making the playoffs but if the Seahawks go 0-4 which they're they're 1-0 or 0-1 already because the 49ers they lose to the Cowboys lose to the 49ers lose to the Eagles again I don't want to see you in the playoffs you you don't belong in the playoffs you can't compete with these top dogs at least maybe the Rams or the Packers get a sniff here because at least the Packers are just gonna beat the Lions and you know the the Rams beat the Seahawks twice I don't want to see you in the playoffs so unless you if you go on four here in this stretch here you don't belong in it so show me some fight and I'm gonna take the eight and a half points in the Seahawks for my last kind of like all right don't fool me anymore one more try here but I'm taking the Cowboys okay I'm taking the Cowboys and I'm swallowing the points because I have been like you I have picked Seattle to cover I feel like every game and I'm just tired of it I'm tired of watching Seattle I'm like hey man I I wrote like we do our our best picks of the week every every week with Craig Ellenport and I I remember writing very strongly when I'm like why are the Seahawks big dogs against Baltimore this is stupid and I beat by like 40 points and I was like all right you know listen I guess we're all bound to have those days but that hurts and then I picked them to cover against San Francisco and that game was it was a killing so I'm not going to go that route I like Dallas in this game I think Dallas is playing great football Dak is playing excellent football some of the best of his career the last couple months I always worry about Dallas when they play really good teams but I think Seattle at this point is a decent team so I think they will handle business I think they will win at home it's a short week but it's not really because both of them played last Thursday so you know it really is a full week of practice for both sides of course Dallas getting the comfy confines I I like the Cowboys in this game something like 30 to 20 I think it's right around the number but if I have to go one way or the other on the number I will take Dallas who who has been blowing teams out so give them credit all right on the ASG side as we mentioned earlier a couple times really important game in Houston haven't been able to say that in a long time but this year the Texans are much better they are six and five Denver is six and five on a five-game winning streak Denver is weird in the sense that you watch these games and you're never like yeah Denver looks great but they just keep finding a way to win and give them credit some of those wins are coming it's really good football teams shout out to the Bills who can't count and the the Texans laying three and a half at home in what is not only a big games is for the for record but for tiebreaker as well here a huge game do you like Denver or Houston uh in energy stadium it's a tough one and I know earlier in the show I I picked the Broncos or against the team to probably make it in the playoffs and it won't make sense because I'm going with the Texans here and I just realized that because I also did it on our mmqb pickums and I hate to change and like when people ask me to make picks I just keep them all the same I hate to lose track and whether they choose either so it doesn't make sense I picked the Broncos earlier but I'm gonna go with the Texans to win this game here and you know they're home I go with the Bronx I think the Broncos could cover that three and a half there you know it should be a close game could be one of these one-point games or one of these close games like as time expires the field will kind of thing so you know I do like the Broncos defense you know but it's CJ straight out kind of gets on a hot stretch there with tank there or Nico Collins and scores a couple touchdowns do we trust Russell Wilson and kind of you know get a couple scores going from playing from behind like they've benefited from short fields from all these takeaways too so you know I gave Sean Payton his credit earlier and Russell Wilson but if Stroud gets back in a heater and it's kind of a little he was a little quiet for his standards which says a lot for rookie last week against the Jaguars like he had a couple big plays to tank there and he kind of was a little quiet in the fourth quarter but he set it up for that field goal and they missed it but you know I think CJ Stroud being at home and just being able to put up points that's why I leaned with the Texans but I expect a close game yes I'm gonna take the Texans all again I'll swallow the three and a half points look I think Denver deserves all the credit in the world for one five straight here they could have folded the tent they could have sold off half the team they didn't do that and they've won five straight kudos to them the problem I have is a lot of these games have been like hey we've gotten eight turnovers from the other team I mean the Bills and the Chiefs basically were like here's the game beat us and both those games came down to it I mean even though the Chiefs lost 24 to 9 I think it was 14 9 with five minutes left and the Chiefs fumbled a punt return so they're on five yard line that was the game and we all saw the Bills game which is one of the most ridiculous football games of the year I feel like Denver deserves credit and yet at the same point it also deserves a little bit of like closer analysis Minnesota did the same thing Minnesota turned the ball over a million times and and yet barely lost and then last week it's like Dorian Thompson Robinson quarterback I don't know I I feel like if Houston doesn't turn the ball over three or four times away in this game so I will take Houston Denver by the way is a huge stretch for them five in a row but now three game road swing Texans Chargers Lions you got to win two of them you got to win two of them you're gonna make the playoffs you got to win two of these games they could beat the Chargers hell everybody can beat the Chargers but like can you win one of those two others and can you handle business against LA that's a question for me I like the Texans in this game I do think it's somewhere in that range give me Houston the new CNN prime time is where the truth shines taking And every single person on the Seahawks offense is sprinting to try to catch up with deebo Samuel and they don't even see it like Brock purdy's already thrown the ball. And they're still chasing deebo Samuel. And it was, oh God, it was so cool. I think they gained like, I think in like 12 or 13 yards on that play, but just beautiful. But you hate to bring it down to like, this almost parcels you in thing. But if you're face, if you're preparing to face this team in the playoffs, what are you doing during the week outside of bringing in, I don't know, like importing a bunch of bears and trying to fight them in cages. Like, I don't know. I don't know how you prepare yourself for something like this. If they run into a team that has some game records on defense, if they run into, I don't think eagles are a great matchup for them. I don't either. I do think the cowboys are a little bit better for a matchup. They have up front. There's no, there's no rams. There's no Aaron Donald coming at some point this postseason. Because that's really what it was. You know, if you rewind to last year, you know, the offense was not in as good a shade. There's no Chris McCaffrey, so I don't want to I don't want to make a one to one comparison, but they threw some sort of misdirection, some stuff that they had, you plant a seed on a play that the one that sticks out to me was late in the rams game. They had a third in short, and they ran that Trent Williams motion that everyone loved and where and it's like, yeah, currently there's a motion, of course, they're gonna give it to him. And then it was a hand up up the middle to Kyle U shit, but didn't work. Because the rams just made a good play because they have good players on their defensive line. And it was kind of like, oh, all right, well, we have exhausted our bag here. So they punted and, you know, you know how the rest of it worked out. It just doesn't feel like it is, it doesn't feel like there are anywhere near running out of things to do. And things to reach into and throw out there just because you have so many different weapons at this point. I watched the entire game back yesterday, and they're up ten nothing when deebo fun moves that ball. And then it just goes complete. They're up ten, nothing. And that's the thing what I always thought was give this kid a little bit of a lead. And it's over. And it's not, though. That scares me. And I know I'm going to be with you on this one. That's an asterisk game. It was in pouring rain. But do you think he's an incredible athlete? Because I think in my head, I thought he was going to be this like Michael Vick level runner, and I don't think he is. I haven't seen it yet. And Kyle Kyle is a better athlete than him. He had a shot, he got close, but that makes me sad. So that's wish number one. One of those two guys, I wish it had, we would view Carson poem are so differently, if he'd won a Super Bowl in his career. I really believe that. I thought he was hamstrung by a bad organization in Cincinnati. It's a different Cincinnati now apparently. But man, oh man, I so badly would love to see one of those two legendary quarterbacks. "Would be throwing passes to Julio Jones, my head would have exploded. I would have been so excited. And like I said, I'll repeat it again. It's weird to me that his time in Tennessee was a letdown. I don't know why that was. Was it the quarterback wasn't very good? Was it the system wasn't very good for him? Was he just hurt? The obvious thing to believe from that is that, well, Julio Jones must not be very good. He must be washed up. He's too old, he can't play. I'm a skeptical of Julio Jones going to Tampa. I don't know that he can play. I don't know that he's going to be very good. But I'm also hopeful. My fingers are crossed and I wanted to go well. That's a huge fan of Julio. A guy who admires him. I want it to go well. And I think it might. And I certainly want to at least acknowledge that Julio Jones is now going to Tampa on a roster that's really good. With a team that has Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, were potentially, it's kind of like in basketball, actually, you know, John wall went to LA clippers where they got Paul George and Kawhi Leonard and you're like, well, hey, the third best offender is now guarding John wall. That's a good matchup for John wall. Well, if you got Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, your third best cover corner, then is potentially guarding Julio Jones. That's a good matchup in my opinion. I think still, it's not quite that simple. That's an over simplification of that. But my point is that maybe having good receivers around him and Tom Brady could remind the world how good Julio Jones once was and he could give us a little bit of really good stuff. And I certainly hope that is possible because I would love to see Julio Jones catching touchdown passes from Tom Brady and looking really good. That excites me a lot and I have my fingers crossed. I'm sure you're going to see DK Metcalf bluffed to Seattle. DK Metcalf finally can be honest here to see headlines like that all over the sports world. Blown out of proportion again, because I think the reality was, he just felt like a lump in his throat wanting to be able to tell everybody, hey, I like it here. I want to be here and he felt like he couldn't because he was negotiating. And I don't know, man, I'm really glad that both DK Metcalf and deebo Sam got paid. Well deserving and both making good money and I'm happy for them. Now here's what fires me up today. I keep seeing rumors of a potential trade sending veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo from the forty-niners to Seattle. By the way, that would be a trade within their division. First of all, this potential trade doesn't make sense to me. I hate that it's out there. I don't believe it's going to happen. It's slightly infuriating to me, actually. People like the idea because Seattle is basically the only place Jimmy Garoppolo could go. And also compete for a starting job immediately. Now, Seattle should not trade for Jimmy Garoppolo. He's a known entity. He's a solid quarterback. He's fine. He's not great. He's not horrible. He's solid. You have Jimmy Garoppolo? And you probably go if Seattle brings in Jimmy G, you go 8 and 9. Maybe 9 and 8 with him. And that's fair enough? Okay. But that doesn't help Seattle at all. Because you need to find out if your young quarterback drew lock is any good. Drew lock is 25 years old. He's either going to show you this year that he's really good. And then you continue to build around him and use your draft picks to help him, or if he's bad, Seattle is going to have a bad year, have a high draft pick, it can use that draft pick to draft a quarterback in the next NFL Draft. So the only way moving forward for Seattle right now is to figure out if drew lock is good. Wasting time in Jimmy Garoppolo doesn't help you. You got to figure out your next superstar franchise quarterback.

"Football, like I said, it makes me uncomfortable. That this is the world we live in. There's not much more that he said there. Hey man, be very careful how you treat. People and if deshaun Watson is truly actually innocent, which I don't, I think like I said, I think what happened was he tried to have sex with a lot of people in a workplace environment, which is deeply inappropriate. And coerce them using his power as NFL player. Let's say all of that out loud, let's get it out there. That's what I think happened. My theory, my belief. And what I would say to everybody is, hey, young men with money, but really anybody. Be very careful when you're in a room alone with someone. And especially at the doors locked, that's terrifying to me. And if they're just accusations, I don't know why he was ever alone in a room with them. He should always have someone with him. If they're not accusations and that really happened, that's horrifying. And. I don't know man, this is not why I cover football. I cover football to talk about football. I can't wait. We're about to hit the NFL season. Games are going to happen. It's going to be really fun. This is the dark side of covering professional sports that I don't like at all. And like I said, the entire situation makes me uncomfortable the fact that he's playing this year makes me uncomfortable the fact that he only got a 6 game suspension makes me uncomfortable. And there's not much more to be said there than that. All right, how about a story that we had to, like I said, I have to talk about that. I can't ignore that story. It's one of the biggest stories in the football world right now. But I don't have much more to say beyond that. So we did it. We talked about it. Let's move on. Here's something that excited me. In the last few days, two young talented NFL receivers got paid in Seattle on Thursday, DK Metcalf got a three year contract extension worth 72 $1 million with a 58.2 $1 million guaranteed contract. So what am I saying? $58.2 million fully guaranteed there and a $30 million signing bonus. That was on Thursday. DK Metcalf got paid. Then on Sunday, forty-niners receiver, deebo Samuel, got a three year $73.5 million deal with 58.1 $1 million guaranteed. I love to see them get paid. This makes me very happy. Deebo Samuel is 26 years old. He was a second round pick in 2019. DK Metcalf in Seattle's even younger. He's 24 years old. He was also a second round pick in 2019. How important is debo Samuel to you? Is he worth two first round picks? The price, the price for tyrique, the price for devonta Adams, it's like floating between like a first and a second. Other guys like Jamal Adams is worth two first rounders. Does he wear two first rounders to you? I think the tricky thing is that it's so hard to divorce him from Shanahan and the forty-niners in my mind. I feel like to the forty-niners, yes, kind of, because we just watched the playoffs and debo was, he made me feel like I was watching the past the football in the future at the same moment. I feel like it's like Jim Thorpe or something. Someone playing every position at once, but also really I think debo, it reminded me actually of like Joel embiid, the 7 footer who's knocking down three pointers at the end of the game. It's like, how do you guard him? Who do you put on him? Doesn't matter what you do you're wrong. That's what deebo is, where you treat them like a running back, will they shift them out to receive? He establishes himself as the best player in its position in the country. He wins a national title, and now he has to buy his time for two more years and basically not suffer a catastrophic injury, how much of this was just kind of him protecting himself. And again, that's guesswork on our part, but, you know, I can't necessarily hold it against him for not wanting to go out there and play in the gosh. What's a, you know, whatever the Bitcoin, I don't know, Arby's bowl, or whatever LSU ended up in. Yeah, I'm trying to think of like, I'm trying to think of like a really good like the calgon bowl or something. Yeah, there were a lot of dot coms that came up at some point. There was, of course, the Papa John's dot com bowl university Connecticut champions one year of the Papa John's dot com bowl. Pets dot com bowl. Remember pets dot com? Yeah. Oh yeah. Like we saw back in the 70s or something transitory, which you can brush off. So where does today's inflation really fall and how should you account for it? Listen to the wise investor show at the wise investor group dot com or find us on your favorite podcast app. The other cornerback I want to touch on here is Trent mcduffie out of Washington who, I don't know, it gets kind of stale after a while because literally every one of these watching guys who comes out is undersized, but really really Gritty and just they just play at such a higher level than you'd think by just going on the I test here. Mcduffie is, I mean look, what, 5, ten and a half here, I'm reading the combine measurements. 5, ten and a half, 29 and three quarters for arm length. It's a little bit problematic, but you can certainly play him inside. He's incredibly competitive. So yeah, you could probably get away with him playing outside too, but whatever, you're not gonna put him on a 6 three receiver and expect him to hold up there. On top of that, he can play inside because he's incredibly physical as a tackler. So you trust him and run support. It's just, it's gonna be a problem with some matchups. And I wonder if it becomes a bigger problem as more and more teams seem to be going with their big slot receipts here or moving their number one receiver inside to take advantage of some of these size matchups. Yeah, I mean, I've viewed him as a late first round pick. I mean, I view him as sort of he's your finisher, right? Like if you're the bills, for example, like you take him because you literally don't have needs anywhere else. And he puts you in a position where like, you know, you're matching a third or fourth wide receiver more adequately than anybody else's matching like a second receiver in the NFL. You know, I think that's really what you would do at the end of the day with him. That said, I mean, you know, incredibly gifted player like, you know, it just seems like, it's so smooth. It was just like, his anticipatory skills are really good. His breaking skills are really good, you know, so those ten yard outs to the sidelines or whatever, you know, he's gonna be in on all that kind of stuff. But, you know, you worry about the size a little bit, but I think if you have the right setup, really what you're hoping from your cornerbacks at best is to extend the quarterback's time in the pocket by like a quarter of a second. And I think he can do that. Talking about two safeties before we wrap up here, Kyle Hamilton, obviously top 5 pick potentially, I guess it's a two part question here. Number one, do you consider safety a premium position in the NFL now? We've seen teams that use safeties well, really get a lot of value out of them. There are also a lot of teams that don't use safeties very well. So it's kind of like, well, you're not going to spend an early pick on one. But Hamilton incredibly versatile here. And again, you don't want to go nuts with measurables, but when you're 6 four and you have 33 inch arms, and you are as instinctive as he is, you just sort of get to places on the field. You get your hands on passes that other guys can't get their hands on. So just phenomenal range, obviously a really physical player as well. You could probably play in some snaps that line back if you really wanted to. But yeah, is the team that drafts him going to find the right way to use him? Yeah, I mean, I would argue that there is a thing going to the Vikings. And I think the reason for that is you could say that safety is not a premium position, but I really think you'd be suffering from a lack of premium coaching, right? I mean, I think Todd Bowles certainly use the safety position really well when he's with the jets. And I would say that Pete Carroll hasn't, really. Lately. But the bills have made up for or have bolstered their cornerback play via the safety position for years, you know? And with two players that quite honestly, you know, they haven't made the Pro Bowl until this year, but didn't have any accolades before really coming to buffalo. And so I would say that any player that you draft certainly is a reflection of your coaching staff and not really the other way around, but Kyle Hamilton is just, you know, I think you have to look at it from a traits perspective. It's like, who else is this size and can do all these things? And you make it work. You find a spot. I mean, the chiefs put tyrann Mathieu everywhere, and I think that you could have a similar kind of vibe with Kyle Hamilton. The other guy I want to talk about is daxton hill, who he reminds me so much of Malcolm Jenkins coming out of Ohio State here. I know part of that's just the Big Ten connection here. But the mission guy, he's going to play that overhang spot. You can play him over the slot. I think he can hang with a lot of receivers there. Probably more of a probably more of a split safety type of guy if you're going to play him play him back as opposed to a single high guy, though no one really plays single high anymore anyway. I shouldn't say no one, but that is that is not cool kids. Yeah, not the cool defense anymore. You're going to get pointed and laughed at if you try and play some single high stuff in 2022. So he fits in there. Again, is this what you consider a premium role on your team? I think that's the only reason you wouldn't take him in the first round, but gosh, it just seems, it just seems like he's going to be a really good player for a long time. Wonder if he's available for the ravens at some point, you know, like he's just such a great blitzer. You know, he's so he's more than adequate coming off the line, but it's just everywhere, you know? Plays the run really well too. And it's just that aggressive forceful at the line type of presence that, again, not everybody wants, right? But if you like the idea of your safety's kind of coming into the backfield and penetrating and being a part of that quarterback disruption process, if you run a lot of simulated pressure stuff, like I think.

I like how we brought in Tyrod Taylor this off season because I feel like he will really push DJ during camp and Tyrod has proven he can be a serviceable quarterback in this league if DJ doesn't work out. I personally think Daniel Jones can improve and be a good quarterback if given better protection and if our weapons around him can stay healthy. Example, Sterling shepherds take on Berkeley, Kenny gallaudet, Carrie Tony. I truly believe that if we moved off of Daniel Jones, he could go somewhere and have a Ryan Tannehill like resurgence. What are your thoughts on this statement? And keep up the great content mate, I appreciate you. Okay, here's what I'll say. Dana Jones has a ton of potential. I think you're right about that. I see a possibility where Daniel Jones becomes the franchise guy that we think he could become in New York. He's a great athlete, he's a smart guy. I'm very excited to see what Brian dabel can do with him. Brian Davis, a head coach now in New York. He was the offensive coordinator in Buffalo with Josh Allen. He developed Josh Allen into an elite quarterback. And Josh Allen worked his butt off did a lot of stuff with Jordan Palmer. It's not all the credit going to the coach, but the coach did something right there. "Didn't get deserves it. He's being used as a running back and a receiver getting hit a bunch, wear and tear is being put onto his body. It's going to shorten his career. And by the way, football careers are already short. I understand wanting to make your money before you miss your opportunity. He wants to cash out. He wants to make sure that when he's done, he can look back and go, I'm set for life. I took care of my family, took care of my kids, take care of my mother, my family, whatever. And he's on a rookie contract. He's made, I mean, for you and me, good money, but for an NFL player, he's nowhere near. The top. And he's playing like it. I support his desire to want to be set for life. I'm like, yeah, he deserves it. Pay him the money. Here's the problem. I don't think he's going to get paid his worth in San Francisco. There's basically no other player like him, and I think in order to get paid the way that's comparable to his special skill set. To get paid his worth is going to have to get traded. These guys are two different quarterbacks but hell he extended placed where he didn't get sacked could have been eight yard play but instead it wasn't and that's where i was really really satisfied with jimmy garoppolo's play besides the downfield throw. I'm so happy. He took that shot to deebo samuel. Sometimes as a quarterback you gotta let your receivers work and find the ball in the air because in the nfl. A receivers in be generally better at tracking the ball in the air than a db would unless a db's like a jalen ramsey. So you know someone who could play both sides of the ball. I get excited about seeing him in the third tier of the defense in trying to break those tackles and look what happens when you get deebo downfield. He can't separate and run it. In for a touchdown and he showed that yesterday. This isn't a guy that you need to get on the jet. Sweep and get ten yards fifteen yards get twenty yards. This is the guy you can throw the ball to fifteen yards down the field and now you ended up with a thirty yard play with a whole lot less of body of work on depots body. Then you would. if you're handing it to him say two yards. Behind the line of scrimmage. Now you're now you're exercising. His body a whole lot. Single day has been all about those huge numbers that show the reach of china's internet giants. This time though that may be seen as more of a riskier. Flex justice singles was getting underway. Beijing's antitrust watchdog put countries tech giant's notice issuing draft rules aimed at rooting out monopolistic practices. Now the news hits the biggest names. Not just alibaba tencent. Jd dot com as well in hong kong by between seven and ten percent in. Just one session now. Alibaba is you know has already been under pressure. Since aunt groups halted ipo. The fintech also faces a changing regulatory landscape. More broadly guys regulatory pressure could be signaling. A new era for chinese tech. Not unlike what we're seeing for our own. American tech companies alibaba president michael evans told me earlier today. That transparency will be key. We need regulatory transparency. So that investors the company regulators. Everyone else can see the transparency and understand the rules by which the game will be played. That's where we're at over the last decade or more. They're coming and yes they'll be competitive Influences but i think this is an opportunity but still the context of this is that these tech regulations came a week after the government forces suspension of the ant financial ipo karen which forced you as an investor in alibaba to actually reevaluate because it. It changed the rules to the point. Where aunt may not be as valuable as it once was. I think that's true. I think aunt will be unlikely in the short term to be as valuables. It was the very best cases. there's no new regulations. I don't think that's the most likely outcome. But you gotta think about how far the stock has fallen. And i think you know i agree with just about everything tim said of them. Being national champions. I think they're trying to this is really a spanking for jack. Ma and i think that ultimately i don't know how much of a difference it'll make in their in how powerful they are so when i look at how much the stock has come down if i own none. I would buy it right here. I don't own none. I own a fair amount. So i didn't add today. My next by next action probably would be to add. And i think that i don't know how long it's gonna take to resolve this but in my experience. Panicking on news like this has never been the right thing to do. So maybe this time it is the right thing to do but we look at what happened with the the internet companies. The gdp are we looked at having the antitrust with google stock traded up. Uber and Lyft ordered to classify drivers as employees
"Are following a developing story and Uber lift both stocks are on the move following California court ruling Deirdre has got the very latest deirdre. The court's ruling is stayed for ten days to allow Uber to appeal but it would force the ride sharing companies to immediately we classify their drivers as employees in California in a statement Uber says quote when three million Californians are without a job our elected leaders should be focused on creating work trying to shut down an entire industry during an economic depression lift for its part said quote drivers do not want to be employees full stop will immediately appeal this ruling and continue to fight for their independence. If the appeal is not granted or there's no further stay, there is a chance. Melissa that. Could shut down their APPs entirely in California Uber keeping. Mind has over one hundred, thousand drivers in the state and bringing them on his employees I'm told would be nearly impossible. Now, the other option is that they continue to operate and risk legal liability as you were saying, shares of Uber and lift their down about one and a half and two and a half percent respectively in the after hours investors, they do know very. Well that regulatory pressures had been building, but as I said, Melissa, this was a key battle in one of the most one of their most important markets and it comes as other states from New York to Illinois Massachusetts are looking at similar legislation and to be clear this doesn't just affect ridesharing Uber's pivoting towards food delivery. But I'll just mentioned this at a seven and a half billion dollar enterprise value lift is way too cheap an asset even with all the losses that they have right now ridesharing whether these gig economy workers are employers are not is here to stay in Google wants fitbit for two billion dollars for their data. So many certainly wants lift yeah. I would also think that these drivers in during a time of pandemic one job whether it be classified as a contractor or full employees. I'm sure they're not that picky at this point, Tim? I think there's a lot of folks that enjoy being an independent contractor gives a lot of flexibility not only with how they live their days and how they deal with their families and what they can do. But also from a tax perspective and I I agree with what dancing and there's a lot of these guys at work for multiple a rideshare companies and also agree that I've said this before if you WanNa hail a cab in a major urban center now good luck it's not happening and rideshare is here. There's arguments that this did not do things for pricing for people all around the country, but but the reality is I love Uber here but I look at the chart and yes, they've had about a fifteen, a little twelve, thirteen percent pullbacks, their numbers. But at the bottom here of this rain been in around thirty three bucks, this is a stock that takes you back to a level where I think it's it's found support and you've priced in a lot of bad news. This post mates acquisition gives them thirty seven percent essentially delivery of the food business. And I think it's something that ultimately allows them to leverage their platform don't love the stock, but there's a lot of bad news in here and I think most of that bad news has been priced in.
