"I want to remind you as i like to do not to call yourself a caucasian sister because by people won't like that am. It's not a good idea. I need you guys to use your white girl magic right another time that you should not use and i need you to use your what girl magic and use all the energy you may use to talk about the flat. Perfecto or broken faberge eggs. I just imagined that's what happens. I don't know i've not been white match or like how the temperature in your pilates class like. That's i assume how it goes like like these. Poached poached eggs Too cold you're on. The money does the dea okay cool coach thrown around their us that energy right to speak up for someone else. You've got to redirect that energy because you've got loads of it right and let's dismantle some things and of course with a new judah do i like to say said it before i'll say it again is to not talk to me about Straight white men right. Because i'm not bone in them. And if you're a straight white woman then you're closer to the problem than i am. And i say don't disassociate yourself from the problem okay. Own up on it Because you know who stood by what men will they were doing all those things my man. That's what i say. The women no one ever says it. Some as if you're not proud we know that being boom white is not the issue. White supremacy is the issue we know the being a man is not the issue of the patriot. Is the issue. An straight white men are so bad than straight women while you still dating dan or todd or been or chester. Do you know what i'm talking about. Yeah yeah i guess. What i'm saying is the next time that the patriot. Who tries to get you down. You know don't go down on you take that moment and you sees it okay because arguably that's a moment when the white man is at his weakest okay you have got the man in the palm of your hand okay so while you got him there you grab that shaft and you tell him about how much less people have been shafted. You tell him. Oh i know your hard. Yeah you're so hard but being born into a society the judge you based off the color of your skin. It's even harder Michael kazin sister instead of making him come. I want you to make him come to terms with his privilege. Okay challenged yet. Thank you very much. That was very strong. Just different stuff very strong very strong. It started off Strange and then it less strange. I thought it was over strong on going to compete with that. But i'm going to do it anyway. Okay you okay. Ready come into the stage with the best standup you've ever heard in your entire life. It's deborah francis was already stand up. It's just a piece is sort of what. I call a piece to camera that i wrote right so i wrote this all in one thing and it's on the theme of in your corner. Sometimes i feel like the patriarchy painted us into a corner where we'd feel trapped and like the good resources went for us like the cake on the table in the middle is for the important people who are very sure how things should be run because men like them have been running things for a long time and so they're the ones with the experience people painted into corners. Don't have the access to the right information or the experience necessary to make excellent decisions the decisions that the men who make work keep on making that the people who live painted into corners should stay there because.

"Grace Patriot. Deborah Francis White's thank you so much been grace. Yeah, very well. I think it's been very very hot here in Leicester, so we've just been in the garden all day having Jeez, but I think I'm I think I'm capable of? Song for. Fourth of July is what American Independence Day, but it's also British pub Independence Day as well. Will you be heading for the scared that it'll be overcrowded? No, I did amen, I just think. I love the pub more than anyone. Maybe you've ever met I'm like some of my best friends are. The. A Course Johnson on the news today. Literally being like you know we're going to open the pub on a reduced staff and we're going to take names and we're going to take details when you come in. Just feel like that is surely an admission that it's just not safe to open the pop guys. I think it's just not safe. Even the pub and they're gonNA take names. It's the I i. am like this cast of cheers, I want to go where nobody knows. Clear about that. I don't WanNa be where. Gene and we've got a of GIN in this house, so I'm going be I'm going to be fine you all the pub, you. Need to plan. B. The puppy wished to see. Live laugh. Shall we shall we sing you something? Is that the plan? We, would absolutely nothing. So I've Sung this song on the podcast before I decided to do it today. Because as we say in record, we are still in pride month and. Goodness me what pride month it is so I'm assist gender, but sh- lesbian is something that actually has been my business I. Suppose integrate sources. Shame in my life I think for many many years obvious very shamed of being Butch I. Think of what all of you wonderful people have said on the conversation evening. Resonated with me. Think especially about you know the way. The paycheck. He wants us to feel about things and and I think it's at me an awful long time. It's only lawyers to sort of become comfortable with WHO and how I present and how I look in the world, analysis gender which. Is something that is a constant source. Of heartbreak and of enrage meant to me to see transfer beer used in the name ostensibly furthering the cause of butch lesbians, and that not something to identify with many many many many many butch, lesbian friends identify with and you know we'd coming off the back of unfortunately another couple of weeks of tremendously transphobic headlines here in the UK people using their gigantic platforms in ways to further unscientific rhetoric which is it serves the purpose of whipping at Patriots Against Trans People and Non Binary people. That's what we know that does. That's what that's proven to be doing on. You know I think unfortunately you know. We have a conversation about this today. When we were having a drink in the garden that I think for US I. Think Particularly Space as a lot of white people. We've taken for granted. The as we move through this world, and as time goes by, we take for granted. The world is getting better in the world is getting more progressive place and I. Think catch the that is not something that I've necessarily seen in my lifetime, and in the last couple of weeks, across both sides the Atlantic. TRANSPHOBIC legislation. Come in, we're seeing the people who are supposed to be looking out for the rights of lgbtq people, nine toy spectrum that entire every single in that spectrum is equally valid, and we're seeing legislation being rolled back on the people who have the biggest platform sadly are standing up, and saying false things, supposedly in the name of Butch Lesbians to further gender transfer Beer and so I thought I'd sing this song that you are very well acquainted with the I've Sung so many times said. Song a couple years ago, called black tie, and it's about being a butch lesbian, and it's about you know the idea that. I know that there are people in the world. He believed that there is a conflict between women's interests as they would describe it between the interests of lesbians and the LGBT community say and I think it is so important you know we move forward in these incredibly unprecedented in divisive times, I think it is so important more important than ever to me anyway I think it's so obvious to me that you. We are only as strong as we are united and I think that. It's. The end of the day. We won't Survive I. Think these incredibly challenging times if we don't have solaris between our minority communities. Might transistors on my sisters, my brothers, my brothers, mine on blind siblings or my siblings, and there is absolutely.

"Earlier. Today I referred to an attractive woman as Millfield Cougar. Yes play do you know. What do you know the person I mean? Friend of a friend you could set. I'd love it might lead bloody love it. Should I signed into that dams and call them a? Yeah I'm a feminist but I would love to and having said that my husband is six years younger than me so maybe I am eligible for the Milstein unless you put a baby now. That actually doesn't feel as good as I thought it was. GonNa Fail Hot Young. Perky thing I promise you. I'm a feminist spot. I love showing pictures of my wedding dress to pay. So here's the thing. I don't know if I ever told you this but I was very staunchly. Never going to get a white wedding dress. I was going to have something colorful. I thought traditional wedding dresses were fine for other people not for me because I'm special and interesting and exhausting so I went on this I was gonna say an endless mission. I didn't I went to a couple of shops and I couldn't find anything and then it was getting closer and closer to the day and all my friends in Edinburgh. My family went he yet. I felt really sad. I didn't know what to do and I- plays let me tell you. There is zero things sad than shopping for a wedding dress yourself. Trying on wedding dresses by ourselves is lock your having a divorce like you're already divorced so my friend said look. Let's go and look at all these vintage shops. So we'll say can get you at least a vintage wedding dress. Try them alone. They smell like moths and armpits and none of them fit right and then just as the day is nearly over. She said there's a proper bottle store around the corner. Can I please just take you to one because watching a lot of say yes to the dress consequence. Shut my favorite reality show. I don't really like reality but say the dress. I go for my kids as well at Iowa ever seen episode on Friday. Yeah Monterey pates this tree cheese in my book about whether there's a feminist on because say yes to the dress don't even care you know what I don't careful I don't give a shit about the bridesmaids episode? Yeah I don't care if they're arguing. I'm not here for colors. I don't care about the different shapes and that your friends having a bad time I WANNA say disappointed families. I WANNA say. Shattered lives lifting moment at the end okay. I love women. Take power even if it's only address anyway so you went to this bridal shop. I call the Barato shop and they're like do you have an appointment. I'm like no no like well. We've had one cancelation on spot left the softener. It's fifty pounds. I'm like what what block. Maybe IT WAS THIRTY POUNDS. I had to pay for it. I was not happy about it but I paid for it. 'cause I was both so you get used to have an appointment at an appointment. Deborah Francis Block. You get that back. If you buy dress of -rageous alley right. That's not that's if you're outraged by the process paid for the appointment you wait till I get to the price of the dress so shit. We turn up to thirty quit. It was a couple of pounds bowl. We turn up. I cannot tell you how ugly wedding dresses are. When they're not on your body. They look on so revolting. So is an expensive shop. Is All of these dresses in the front that I'm like am I? Nine hundred ninety s prom. Is this a prank show? We go in and they say oh you know until my name and they said when's your wedding and I said it's in four and a half wakes time they throat goes dry. They look very judgy and they like you can only look at the sample sizes because we can't get anything made for you in that time. You can only look at sample sizes in my head. I'm like don't worry I'm not going to buy anything so I'll try on whatever the fuck I want. Betas aspects at eight pounds on an apartment. You know there's lots of finger wagging a lot of showed up. I'm being very sesame in my mind but very compliant and almost apologetic in real life. Grab a bunch of shoulder in the finger where in your head of ever her yet but I showed them the shoulder. The finger in my head out. I was nodding putting my head on the side in a classic submission posts Nate's addresses that looked disgusting. Put them on Iraq. My friend came in. We were pretending to be who say yes to the dress. Anyway I dress on ZIP it up. It fits like a fucking dream like well. I didn't expect that open the curtain. Show my friend. She's like Oh went. It Looks Pretty Nice question mark and I said to the lady who is helping US said how much is this and she said it's fifteen hundred pounds. I'm like I think I'll be taking this one off. Thanks very much. But that's no so then I try the next one on and the first thing I say out loud is and then I pulled the curtain back and I showed my friend and she gasped and then I asked for a pair of heels. That's how they fucking get. You asked for a pair of heels champagne because they do. That is for thirteen years. Maybe my friend has. This was the time you fell off the wagon. I got interest absolutely. I'm not allowed back in that shop anymore. So I try the heels on. Show my friend Laura and we are both taken aback back and then I said something. I don't believe I've ever said in my life I said. Do you have something like a flower crown. Oh moon begging for him and this a spot I lower so she has these little like it's just a pace of Nice twisted metal and it's got little white flowers on put it in my head. I start crying Deborah Francis what can I say? How much is this dress? And she says more than the last one and they she said it's from Spain it might be on the market for six more months. No one will have it but if you WANNA get it sent. It's going to cost four hundred pounds express post because we won't be able to get it for a feeding otherwise so I paid a lot of money for address I was never gonNa buy and I will put a picture up if you tell me when this ghost air. Oh put a picture up that day of the wedding dress in Newark Yeah it's I would never have guessed not from crumbled like Renee Zellweger in a row. Mccall mate I was out. I'm Femina spot. I did not pan almost math. Whitting dress I went to strata. I wanted my mom and my sister to come shopping with me. We went to a sort of big Muriel's wedding. I O bridal shop where they put your still staff and tried to stress on and it was like on twenty five percent it was sort of like you only pay twenty five percent of the price or something like that so it was sort of the opposite experience and everyone said look awfully and they did have time to a justice to me but I sent it back says too worried about damaging it by bringing it on the plane and putting up a pattern someone brings up on top of it or whatever and when it got back here. I got hit with an enormous tax bill for it. I'd pay the sales tax in Australia but I had to pay import tax and thought I should have brought the plane and they said you would still have had to pay tax because they have got you at the other end that they would have said like if you're carrying a box like that. They said the only way you could have not paid tax easy. If you'd worn it back on the plane and I thought I could have done that. That would have been quite fun at would've looked like I've done a runner at the altar. Or You'd been list and on honeymoon by yourself. Yes sitting on my own on a plane just like watching a movie. Yeah thanks very much have could I could. I have a tonic. Thanks very much she had done. I think I would have committed a more one fail. I didn't have available to guard Vail. It would have been great. It would have been great. And that's I ended up pay tax because it's worn well through international travelers d- once again eight. Okay I better not A. I'm a feminist bought. I insisted on having the flattering ring lights on. You know that that is cramming fluids. Ring Light Tom's got one of those and I put false eyelashes on even though. This is a podcast. Nobody's GONNA say some. I was so sick feeling like I had made. No minimum an honestly. It's taken so long in lockdown for me to think to myself but on Sunday I had to make a video and so I did a face mask because I felt very dehydrated and I bothered to play trauma Makeup on I was like God there I am. I also thought that person was gone honestly last week. I was crying a bit looking at an old picture of myself out dressed up and I said I'll never be up. Pretty again will never be over. I've lost it. I've missed the turnoff. Its own and then on Sunday just off of this video and I was like I remember this past season. And so today for you for you. Felicity Ward and guests. I have done. I was laid off as cool to be honest because look at these eyelashes. That's what I was doing on a feminist but as soon as I fell pregnant I wanted to stop working. I was just like oh I get it. Yep I've got a lotta couch time. I'm really looking forward to that. Maybe I do like cooking cleaning that Kinda Shit turns out. I don't like cooking cleaning. But it's a very fondly cuts to be the least bit surprised that I know you have another one I too. Oh yeah this is really hard. And I'm so sorry I'm a feminist. But I've been wearing a BRA during lockdown. I'm sorry sorry. I possibly shocked races across to stop at what's made the best month for me. In in my off months of ninety burning in my defense I breastfed for three months. I was A oh. What's it he. Thirty six.

"I am a feminist but today Yoga I overheard a woman in the shoe area saying will men men like to claim this way but women to scrub. That's the difference between men and women how they clean and I wanted to say. Excuse me I don't want to be rude. But these binary ways that we talk about men and women do invite a certain culture that says that somehow Manohla always like this and women are like this best you kind of know to cleaning trend. You kind of noted agenda trend. Don't undermine that but saying men do and women do that. It's actually not that helpful but what I wanted to say. Even more was how common link to clean because I missed that pond. I heard that women's scrubbing wing section. How to clean because as far as I can make out not at all but what I did say was nothing talk? Get involved in this lady's life I don't know she doesn't need be tapping around the shoulder and telling her about does not but it's annoying. That would have been really fun though. So if you just gone up and being excuse me I don't think you should prescribed a cleaning gender binary now must stay and then just like and then like the little bells you know the the meditation Gong goes off and then you just evaporate. That bowl sounds off bowl. That could've been my interruption. Maybe it could have Donald Binary that yeah. I must not do that because I feel. It's going to be steeply culturally insensitive. I don't think we should throw that right. I'm a feminist but the last time I I was on the guilty feminist podcast I tweeted about it. I put it on instagram. I shared it on facebook and my mother called me and said congratulations nations. I've listened to the PODCAST. It's very good. You're very funny. Deborah's a lovely person. I just need you to know that you spelled feminists wrong in every single one of your posts. Oh every single. Oh No I cry ball. TURNS ZACK turns out. YOU DON'T SPELL FEMINISTS DEMAND S. I think you put a man into feminist. Yeah stop it right now. It's very on brand for me. I can't spell it the best time I remember in the second grade we were allowed to pick five words to be on our own spelling tests. That were special to us that we needed to learn how to spell so I had to put my name on spelling second grade. I was like nine and I still was like no the nine in the second grade. I think so are nine and six. Are you six. I think I'm nine and everything when in doubt I'm always like when I was nine number you would not nine. I'm a feminist but if I had to give up feminism or yoga for one week it'd depend where my head was Some weeks I really need yoga. I get it. I'm the same way I mean it's only a week. I wouldn't actively anti-feminist but if I had to rest all NAMA state I get it. I am a feminist but whenever I wear a crop top onstage to show my stomach and a fellow curvy woman comes up to me after the show and touches me lightly on the Elbow Elbow and goes I love your body positively. I WANNA puncher. That is the exact same thing as a guy coming up to me. Going your your tits. Look good in that top. It is not to be discussed. It is only to be enjoyed in silence. Yeah I agree because on the live tour I had this this big green sequent Cape and one night. I happened to be walking posted on summers and they had the same green sequence in full please swimsuit saw so. I thought pretty funny if I had that on them with trousers over the tall swimsuit was like a body suit type thing green sequence and I thought it was funny and kind of cabaret but look good and then afterwards one of the other acts message me and said I just want to say that my friend was in the audience tonight and you really inspired her to buy a swimsuit because she didn't WanNa buy some soup for holidays and you're such an inspiration to she. Thought if Debra can do it also the swimsuit so let me a fucking swimsuit inspiration. Yeah I want people look at me and think I can't do that. Why was it no look at the swimsuit go? I would never be able to pull it off. Don't find inspiration in my no. I wanted to have it. What does that mean? Yeah I've been able to let it go. I've not been able to let it go. I'm feminist bus. I saw a cat dressed two two two so that it looks like it had arms coming out of it cites it was like a front only situation like a babe but it looks at the front like the cat is wearing wearing a pink Tutu with point shoes and my first thought was. Where can I get one of those for toast? It's not a feminist outfit. Not Not that balance isn't feminist but to address your cat in. I guess well we have to question the agency of the cat at this point. Yeah does does the CAT WANNA be in sequence toast would no. I'm a feminist but I think top gear in the grand tour. Where are the best television? I've ever seen I genuinely think Jeremy Clarkson and may make the best. Tell you Joe Kendo thank you thank you. I thought I would be a really alone in that like so much okay. I'm a feminist. But if someone was like would you you like to sit down and Rewatch fleabag or the grand tour. GRANDPA I love it. Yeah Yeah Oh no no no no no no no no. I'm not saying it's hotter. I'm not better. I'm not saying it's better than flashback. Because they are completely different things but I am saying as far as entertainment easily consumable television grant towards like Doritos. Just can't get enough from the customer spontaneity shop. That's the best. It Guest Co host Avocados special guest. This is the guilty feminist. The podcast in which we explore on noble goals was twenty-first-century feminists hypocrisies and insecurities which undermine them. I'm I'm Deborah Francis. Mike with me is Gosh. Amman on we're talking about lemonade lemonade. When life she lemons make lemonade? Yup the beyond say album of the same name and I think think that applies to women a lot applies to feminists allot. I was thinking about brexit being such a thing if life she lemons we might have to make celebrity and then I thought who am I. Kidding is if we're going to have access to fresh citrus. We're not GONNA have any. I read something today where they Sainsbury said that. There's going to be like like gaps on the shelves. They're just not gonna be able to get stuff in the brexit well. I was just thinking when it comes to Brexit when life gives you limit your like yeah we have lemons. Yes turned turn. It can't wait when life gives you lemons at least you won't have scurvy is very much the brexit no deal slogan hope. Boris puts it on a bus US going to campaign to say. Hey We got through the blitz. That's basically what is going to be. But I always think because people do say we got through the blitz bursting but we didn't vote for the blitz and if we had accidentally voted for the blades we would have had a second referendum and said. Aw please so I'm saying blitz. I think that should be the new BREXIT HASHTAG DOC is Hashtag nope blitz absolutely so my story in terms of Lemons and lemonade. I think my whole career is actually lemonade. That I've made the lemon of

"Fuck thought that this was a good idea idea Richard Harris and Deborah Francis what waging for fluid on interrupted because now I'm the problem this to do offline I'll ask you to merge the question asks because I'm image questions are available to everyone so I'm not even going to list what it is just in case I say except for one question I have which is for men only really yes people we only well how do I say well we don't equate masculinity with people with that's why I say Oh yes sorry sorry I need to go into a food happier which I'm not going to us I have you ever tried Concoc- I mean you can answer yes but in this Edinburgh I came up with one is exclusive for persons who have vaginas excellent cow fucking because of news stories about women putting things in their giant Britain a giant slalom there was a new to begin with isolates don't put ice lollies in your vaginas feeling hot I would just say don't put anything in your vaginas even the things that you think might be all right up that don't none of his very nice well there are some things who says yeah pitas is horrible things should be hidden away what about rampant Roberts yeah those are okay the the robotic things associate to have sex with a robot is as long as that bill and throw the rest of the man away it's not fair obviously you should never put an Ice Lolly in your vaginal laziness but if you had to ah which is slowly would you put in your vagina feminists fuck no no no no nothing to wash situation wouldn't the enemy to grab a via NASA now choice a very nice little now yeah that's probably not bad if you put it up cone I don't think you know what did I say or co Netto yeah our whole uh of all the yeah that's the end of that discussion but don't do it if anyone is sitting at home it's not it's not good for you I've got a question which rather have a handmade have him or equality handmade I've got question it goes without saying Schivonne and rich all three of us have read the dialectic of sex the case for the feminist revolution in nineteen seventy by radical feminists schilling with firestone twenty-five well nearly twenty six but yeah ah so you'll assigned do that it's been described as a classic of feminist thought and firestone argues that sexual class system predates and runs deeper than any other form of oppression that the ratification of sex require radical reordering of society given sexism also exists in the Animal Kingdom of course the goal of the feminist revolution must be not just the elimination of privilege but if the sex distinction itself would you agree with natural I mean rich to you what are you doing to reduce gender differences so they no longer have widespread cultural significance and what are you doing to reduce the cultural significance of differences in your daily life yeah what are you doing Miami I is slowly questions this does not diminish the distinction when you focus on China's penis or in fact as a wide and the distortion which a sexy I'm while I'm doing it I mean you didn't put the white and I've got emergency question Uber got run rich would you rather have a miniature suffragette attached to your shoulder as second head all would you rather have your own fist punch in the face if you were ever to say do anything or even think anything that was on feminist and this is caveat the miniature suffragette doesn't know women have the vote social keeps going on saying you keep expanding we have votes for women nuts women can vote and she won't hear that so that's annoying but also the fist which sentient punch I know why it's not on feminist but e can't explain sort of like Deborah Frances white fistful Eh stop was saying the exact just unthinking things I was thinking well say for the suffrage it yeah well this is your lucky night the jets pretty cool yeah yeah as long as she doesn't throw in front of a horse while she's attached to me when most people think most suffragettes at the time and suffrage at scholars think that she didn't mean to seek I mean she meant she was trying to the banner out with something wasn't Jay and then she she she didn't do very well to do it I've got another emergency question the rich if you were sleeping with a sex robot would you program her software with the principles of feminism so she I had the right to consent and from then on would almost certainly reject advance making her existence void even if you've paid a lot of money for her Uh it's an interesting question robot sex thing is a very interesting question over overall someone was saying today in the paper today that there's a good chance that the sex robots will kill the people having sex with that you can you can hack them all sorts of things also maybe they'll gain consciousness and kill it just adds the excitement somebody that that could happen so I mean also you asked me if it's your idea this question about nuns in a minute for me in original sex robots let me when I was single man seduction was always you know and and consent was also the thing that was exciting and amazed me the anyone really nice though that excited you that someone wanted to yeah because I just had very low self esteem I stand up Ah your sister Michael Chevron on your famous for playing not only knows to an op assist Michael in Dera goals absolutely that's what we didn't ask how many people are not here for is around here because of Derry goals are any I'm cold James Oh already james's cain dairy girl's life was your name James Are you one of the James he's one of the void yeah you wounded the ones with the girlfriend yeah okay Oh and it doesn't make it better makes it worse from Ballerina you deserve something who's looking good James the ship famous for places to Michael in Dera goals I'm famous for playing a non which is exactly how I thought my life would uh-huh so becoming a non was one of the only professions women could pursue before accessible birth control it gave them autonomy a career and in many cases allow them to be educated and become an educator have you found a coded or even a feminism and playing sister Michael Reading it as if I'm gonNA give her a punchline radius if you're gonNA give a luck answer review in fairness I do think apart from nurse to she is without I'm serious she is without a doubt I think the sex CEOS'd character I've played and good night James Hello Josephine when I looked the obviously I don't think she is bus when I'm playing her at the idea of being that confidence and not giving a fuck and just walking into every room and being that utterly tired avant to be alone except in a car accident wearing habits I it's eighty liberation to play that especially as an actress you're always like you are always playing second fiddle to to nurse the second fiddle but yes she is a feminist character because she is a woman who knows her mind and speaks it has like none a feminist throat in this much as the people she builds her power over a young women and in fact a goals.

"Hollow guilty feminists. This is our second crossover episode this week. We've teamed up with our friends at no such thing as a fish to make no such thing as the guilty feminist. We hope you enjoy and just let you know before you get to the podcast. The guilty feminist is coming to America. The first date is Saturday. The Fourth of January at gramercy theatre in New York advanced sales start today Wednesday the eighteenth of September at ten. Am Eastern in time for the link and a special presale code would look in the show notes or go to guilty feminist dot com now. That's the regular guilty guilty feminist but back to the crossover season. We've got more of these episodes coming out on Wednesdays as well as the regular guilty feminist every Monday. This episode was tons of fun and we were joined by special guest Athenee Cabrini enjoy. I'm a feminist Bart. I was truly delighted when when back stage Dan Schreiber looked around and says where's Anna. She always brings my beer onstage. I have to give my Hana. She carries it out onto the stage for me and I looked at him and he went oh no like yeah but in a good way the and in a good way and are always waits on me brings me alcoholic beverages women finishing school men that I'm very good at carrying those extremely evenly. I think it's a real show oh of trust knowing the way the on the go through beer. I'm a feminist but just a few minutes ago. I learned that I'm not yeah. We've been telling you for years and you never listened life. Should I'm a feminist but when a woman once asked me out the only reason I said yes was I was new to stand up and and badly needed material yeah but unfortunately I didn't actually get any material out of it. She on the other hand loved hearing about stand up comedy took it up and ended up performing and the claim show at the Edinburgh fringe all about me the revenge s revenge and who will stop talking to say Joan rivers. I would love it if Joan rivers had asked you out and you'd gone yeah I would have gone out of. Journalism asked me out on a date. I definitely would have yeah absolutely. She firstly very sexy second. You're all right. They would be good material sadly way out of your league so I dream on okay. I'm a feminist but every single teddy I've ever owned has been male I realize and my own a lot of tennis still have a functioning menagerie of Teddy's what do you mean by functioning. I mean I definitely have a Menagerie. I definitely talked to them on a regular basis and that's what we in the industry go to functioning. Definitely only of human sometimes wants to sleep in my bed. I Say I'm afraid you can't because there are too many teddy's in that sounds like a shinning are even the feminist but I went to the women's World Cup this year which I call the women's World Cup sometimes and I was in the crowd and which was basically made up of lots of women and girls not many men there and loudly mums planed that the referee had stupidly got a very very simple rule wrong and it turned out when I got home and I google that they changed the rule this year and I was completely wrong. Did she shout the REF must be girl while the ref was ago but that that was clear to everyone in the Audience Huxley and Actually Doc Collecting Audience. Do you think Lewis what a great audience we had tonight. I loved a lot not dykes when I full. I called an interval and that's not right back will and I also said we had very seats in the stalls at at the front and they said No. I'm a feminist but my fiancee has so far done eighty percent of the planning for our wedding. I have a sneaking suspicion that by the time of the day that will be more like ninety percent sometimes organizes events for work not not that it's work being engaged to me although sometimes it could arguably be defined as that it's always good so so it's good to end on the type of parts of the wedding. Are you doing book the photographer. Sorry I can't make that day. All I do. Is that you do yeah. Are you writing your vows all we she's gone yeah. I think we're letting planning taking care of itself as she's just we had a good brought it. I'm so excited. I'm no longer the answer that the table today. I'm a feminist potus dangerous game to play. Oh it's just throwing matches and watching your fingers burn. I'm a feminist but I really wanted to hold Dan's Beer uh-huh. I've another real one feminist spot to wear a nice evening gown for party. I refuse to a maternity Bra thought when when when my posh Nice Bras from pre baby only when everyone was being really friendly to me. I realized that's because my boobs are hanging out because I was wearing inappropriate underwear so I'm a feminist by flash people by accident with a maternity Bra because it pops down though 'cause I should have been wearing a bra fit me but I was like I want to wear a bra so it looks nice if my dress but unfortunately it was so pretty my breasts can awaits with scape from with partners at your friends realize because I can so you nipples k. oh okay elegant hello and welcome to the very first episode of no such thing as a guilty feminist coming to you live from King's place. My name is Dan Schreiber. I am sitting here with Ana Ski. Deborah Francis why Athena Andrew Hunter Murray and James Harkin and once once again we have gathered round the microphones with our four favourite facts from the last seven days and in no particular order here we go starting with you Athena. She'll the holy warriors whenever they left their compound followed. West Servant. You rang a bell. This alerted meant to keep their distance and avert their eyes at all times to bring that in comedy you want to avert their eyes as you're performing you know. I want men in the green room to avert their eyes when female comedians approach and I think we should have a bell. Yes someone in front of us. I told these three act so inappropriately in the green room this of all places. I believe with bellwether problem. We've got the Bell I'm not surprised by because he's warriors incredibly fierce battle hardened desensitized to other people's pains they would like throw the enemies of like buildings and onto spikes and things like that which is really interesting because probably the avoid eye contact with them anyway the bill. Is it true that if you touch them. US Census to death. I was entirely true so again again. You wouldn't need the bill. It would have been extremely frazzled. People standing he likes is up again. They were amazing. I didn't know about these people so they're in modern day. Benin yeah what's known. It's sort of country. She was known as the homie which is more than they've been. You're right. We call them on his own unions. This is a misappropriation they were from the phone people of the home but we say Amazon's because of the fiction people and Europeans like to do stuff like that. I guess just raise. Just the thing happens a lot retreat now. Apparently it's not really matriarch. It was just because the holy people outnumbered by the people around them so specifically the Europeans who used to beat them up all the time because they were outnumbered and population about by about ten to one so how can we have a big army and that's why they recruited women and they were we face and they're really feared so feared in fact that they even almost the French he wants. Colorado's the land there with a lot of people standing. It was just incredible. The last feats day accomplished I guess before canonisation was to kidnap French soldiers or lure with them into their tents and then stabbed them with their own nets or the twentieth century even but some survived to you just when you centuries I think the loss of I've been to the seventy s which is incredible feel very suspicious though is a French soldier if a woman was trying to lear you into her tent and you say uh-huh.

I haven't thrown out of podcasting awhile and we're back back baby and we're going to be born she and hitting hod so the good people these all about surrounding you and me with the right people to help us US Barth bar so that we can go through this journey kind of growing and learning at a foster pay so the three areas that I'm focusing on this podcast creativity adventure and purpose and today's guests hits all of them are really really strongly so names colleague Jacobs She's actually Horn podcast for self improvement junkies and its code straight and curly so if you haven't heard about this podcast they do experiments <hes> we health and they and they go on these personal growth journeys. He's along with their listeners. So if you haven't heard her this podcast you definitely need to check it out but today shot with Collie we're actually touch with topics like health S- looking at self-improvement as journey rather than rather than just kind of like a one time thing social media eighty or in technology day toxin had go about doing those and you know moving forward and looking at morning routines for you just go. Hey if stops that are that really going to help you grow as a person so please stay tuned for that before we move onto the podcast Kosta I've recently sold oh my things and I'm traveling around the world slowly and creatively and mindfully and spiritually so if that's what you might be into then I'm recording my whole journey on Youtube on my youtube channel today drama. It's all one on Word T. O. D. A. Y.. Dreamer on Youtube so please check out my channel. Show me some support. Show me some love. Ill only take you a few moments <hes> but yeah I'm excited to have you guys back with me. I'm excited to be pushing out some more podcasts and without further ado he's my chat with Collie. Thanks for coming on the show that I Kali. I really do appreciate you being he out of your podcast before when I really enjoy it I'm really in the personal growth and development space at the moment and undoing a couple of projects based in that space a really came to chat with you today so it could you stop by maybe telling us a little bit about the straight and Kelly podcasts and how it will begin of call us Sarah. I am a freelance Russia aw Blah Blah and Internet type Hessen. I started looking at smuggled dot com. It's close to eleven years ago. Now and Kelly Exa is my car host of straightened curly sorry Padre Frog my trip art and ways what boy thrashing in the self-improvement Spice <hes> writing things about food and organization exercise mental health that kind of stuff and then a few years ago we just kind of sort of been wanting to work together for quite some time and then all of a sudden. We just kind of went well. Why don't we start a podcast because we both wanted to podcast? We had a lot of stuff that we wanted to chat about and she covers slightly different stuff to May and yeah it was just a really natural progression in in Al kind of because we would professionally sort of side by side for so many years and it just felt like a natural thing to just join forces and so we did that two years ago and it'll be trees in next January very actually. That's a that's a really long time and seems like you. Do you feel like you have grown since you began this and do you think that the price of studying podcast about this topic has helped you in any way yeah definitely I think that's the reason why we started doing because even though I'm still blocking it smuggled dot COM <hes> and that's <hes> you know life improvement stalled blog and even though my traffic hasn't dropped and I'm still getting just as much engagement and <hes> sorry just is not traffic. The engagement has dropped off quite a lot on the actual blog itself so I I think that's kind of true of most blogs in moist industries. <hes> most of the conversations that happen around the rushing that I do on smuggle happens on facebook spoke through instagram so there's not a lot actually happening on the blog and I also found that particularly with podcasts. It's just this different level of super engaged audiences so when I'm doing questions like because I have people ask me questions questions about stuff that I've put out that wake most of the questions that I feel h wake come from straighten carelessness though bailout all what was that Olsen movie that you mentioned all what was that cool kitchen gadget that you were talking about and that kind of interaction dropped off a few years ago with the blog so it's really interesting having that kind of <hes> engagement back again and also as a hardcore punk coxless Nah I really feel way more connected to the people that I listen to podcasts than I joined the people whose blogs irate for sure so you're hardcore podcast listen. That's interesting any recommendations. Yes <hes> not necessarily in self-improvement. I don't listen to a lot of self-improvement podcasts. Are there's a great one by Jimmy Stein's cold ladies we need talk this basically about women's stuff but it's just cool like pregnancy and <hes> motherhood and mental health and divorced dating and stuff like that and it's very very funny. They have a lot of good guests on it. I I also love the guilty feminist podcast which sounds really really heavy but it's actually really really funny. It's by a British Comedian Deborah Francis why and she's Hilarious and I also love true crime podcasts the ones that kind of get most walk out on my podcast up I guy so coming back to personal development and growth and improving yourself. Do you feel like is anything over the over the years over all your conversations that Spain supremely common famous something that's come up repeatedly. I think one thing that comes up repeatedly is just how it's never ending journey of self improvement. I think people have to get over that Barrio all of our Hi Chi while I'm GonNa do this boot camp and then my fitness will be sorted. I'm going to follow this diet for eight weeks and then I'll be really healthy again. I think people look at self-improvement. Sometimes in terms of quick fixes says oil <hes> things that you period of time and then whatever it is that you're doing is fixed <hes> and also I think people look for answers all the time and that kind of aunt any answers so I've written a lot about <hes> diets and white loss because I struggle quite a lot with my wife and I have done for years. I like a winning the bashful I have to reiterate to people that I you know I mean like I'm a very average-sized Piston but I constantly reiterate to people that I don't look like this by accident. I work very very hard to look like a girl who enjoys a good fade so a lot of my rate is being on that Jenny with May as well and I'll find a diet that works for bid and then I'll change something else and I'll get a lot of questions being like all but I thought that was is really working and the whole point is that yes it was working for that period of time. It's no longer working now. So I'm moving onto something else so it's it's much more of a journey than it is finding the particular answers to things and that is huge thing that comes up with people the people being comfortable with learning thing and then on learning it and finding you is to do something that was working in the Pasta. He's no longer working. Now I think Wassall about that loss like I guess all about adapting to change and kind of moving moving with the flow of things and if something's not working trying somebody else until you know and learning from your mistakes figure it out and I totally agree with what you said in terms of you know there's no quick fix for anything and and <hes> I'd really personally really believe in consistency ivory intensity anyways I think that if you can make something fun and look at it as a long-term Kinda thing rather than a short term fix than you're gonNA get much better results yeah absolutely yeah ah yeah <hes> so how could it I guess it all begins with Bokke Star inhabit rot so <hes> you create one habit and then you move on and you build on that but once you've got the discipline down and you kind of no <hes> the way to do it then things become easier as guard and that first steps always the hottest so how can people make it easy for themselves to create a good habit in the first place and eliminate bad ones in your opinion. I think the best thing to start with these health always health we <hes> Kelly recorded in episode quite recently on the full. Ben Is theory way you have <hes> you have to imagine you'll life as a star talk burner and therefore different burners health family what and friends so those are the full Ben is and you can only have one been on effectively or you can have to on less effectively in than every time you add another bone on it decreases the the power of the other bonus or it's just basically a theory about how to Balance Life and how to not burn out one burner and <hes> yeah be unable to lie again and one of my theories is that I think he's you find a way to get your health buna burning without much and without much maintenance than it's much easier to deal with the rest of your burners so I spent a lot of my time coming up with a really good plan of aiding well and exercising to the point where it's Brian and now so so I go to the gym five to six times a week and I have a very solid diet plan that I just stick to all the time and don't even have to think about it anymore and I just think that if people can really nail the health that is the one thing that will really really set them up for being artistic sated other things okay so sullen smoker and their little bit every way and they go to gee. Maybe once or twice a week. We'll maybe not at all. How do they stop this? How do they start the plan? How do they get the information and like what's the first step? Excuse me the hottest one right eighties yeah. The the first thing too is to start with one thing you won't be able to fix you able to quit smoking. Stop aiding really well and stop increasing your fitness Ole in one Gar in that particular Pistons Case Hi so definitely start with the quitting of marking <hes> and that is definitely something that is doable. I actually used to be a social smoker which is just not aligned with WHO I am in any way shape or form but I was actually able to quit like five have used to be honest. I was never pro every day. Kind of smart was just like have a cheeky cigarette with my girlfriend's on a Saturday night kind of thing and I'd go months without smoking but then I would go out with some nights and potty and have like five cigarettes and it just got to the point where I was thinking. This is disgusting. It's not who I am at all and I was going to the gym like five or six times awake and you know really like just health across the board in all otherwise now thinking this is really not on brand so yeah. Oh you know it was actually a little bit hotter to to quit than I thought it was going to bay but I actually guys myself a year. I was like if I can quit smoking for a year in a year's time. I can have another cigarette and I just didn't any time. I didn't feel like it and it's been five years now. Sorry Yeah I'm not one of bars. Are you can be healthy. You can do it to people who has just been born with a Silva health spoon in my mouth like I've gone through a lot of the challenges that a lot of other people guard through as well and it is one hundred percent doable so yeah I would start with acquitting of the spiking then acing under control particularly. If <hes> white losses a forecast <hes> eighty percent of white loss happens in the kitchen <hes> and so once you start doing that makes it easier to then move onto exercise of Christ fat sorry in that particular. That's what I recommend for that person and I feel like once you'll bodies in order once your health is kind of own point. We'll at least <hes> better than where it was a lot of other things thought flowing in your life and you get more motivation you get more energy and you just feel like an I am doing more with your life. I feel like a lot of these kind of things. A quicken easy dopamine heats but they really <hes> bring down <hes> what you could be doing in half passionately. You could be leaving your lot. That's my personal belief. I completely agree yeah. I mean it's easy to get these little fixes but they become like addictions rather than <hes>. You know Tom Spout well because you've only got one life so why not leave it as best as you can and I think it all starts with your body and and feeling balanced with <hes> and just feeling connected to your body while like yoga meditation really helps me and a lot of other people I know and and <hes> you diet and like you said getting rid.

Also this Friday night. I am comparing a really really brilliant evening. It's cold beloved Clara. And it's about the little known Clarice Chaman. Her husband was Robert Schuman, a Casco composer, you probably know. And this is going to be an incredible compelling story one that's very feminist on veiled through music and readings from the wonderful. Juliet Stevenson, who you will know from the guilty feminist and a plethora of films and television shows most famously truly madly deeply and the incredible Samuel west. Who has also been a guest on the guilty feminist on that amazing episode? We did about the play the writer and Hayes also in every film and television show you've ever heard of it's going to be a really special night, and I'm opening and closing it. I'm doing some comedy. "Esteem chair person owner Bill members of the proposition members of the opposition on our lovely unattractive audience. How are you? Are you having a brilliant time? I'm having a birdie time, I am really enjoying listening to the proposition. They are take unfunny, and they have lovely hair, FEC and Justice. Seriously, where is this world that they are describing that has been changed? So amazingly by comedy because I recognize it to you. I mean, I think they are gas. I think they are trying to make you miss remember centuries of tragic human history. I mean, d you remember when a knock knock joke stops the holocaust because I don't and Jews are some of the funniest people. We have they should have been safe. Remember when a man stood in the middle of chinaman square and stopped the Turks with a Bora impression. Do you remember when they craft to the Universal Declaration of human rights, and then stuffed it full of hilarious. Simpson's memes. No because it didn't happen. If comedy could change the world than Martin Luther King would never have given his famous. I have a dream speech. He wanted to tight ten minutes on is another knowing when people tell you about their dreams. We have heard some nonsense from the proposition tonight. My friends. I wasted patiently waited patiently for the end of route Wells' speech. So that she could explain how comedy could change everything for the good for the body to stay the same can't define emotion. Like that. You can't have your cake and eat, which is a phrase. I hate by the way, because we're all adults bigger cake. Roots Welch also stood up. Karen said that laughter is the best medicine. That's very dangerous thing to say, no wonder she has academic, Dr not a real one. Let's see ward stood up here. Untold for is. No, what must have been forty five minutes. To be honest again, I just don't know slice spread farts in elevators lollipop whistles. You can't debase nonsense. So instead, I'm just going to refute claims with her favourite medium of mine. Pointed listener is on the putt cast. Thank you, not yet. We have I said, no, thank you. Not yet for the lesser is on the podcast. I would like to make a clear. No, thank you. My sit down. I'll tell you when I'm ready. I would like to make clear that I just mind the universes new these chair, please. Could you the proposition to behave? Comedy conscious things just not the world on we can change the world just note with comedy if comedy could change the world, then the prime minister of the UK wouldn't be serious boring person. Theresa may. Is hilarious and adorable. Scarlet from. On the fast is that you thought I would like to live in order to talk about changing the world. We I must look at the stage of the world. And as we say Dublin when somebody looks awful because I don't know they're wearing talk nod or something this danger of the accident second-stage on the world is in a state. My friends there are currently sixty four point eight million refugees displaced around the world. Experts say, no, thank you. I'm in the middle of a point tell you when I'm ready. Experts say that by twenty fifty there will be more plastic in our worlds oceans than fish on currently eight white men, hold as much of the world's wealth as half of the world's population. That's eight white men as rich as three point five billion people on you just know that one of those white men is comedian, Michael McIntyre. Maybe all the world's money as he keeps in his mind drawer. I'm talking point male comedians. Are they doing anything to redress this balance? Michael mucking tire as making wins jokes paprika and his spice cupboard that sounds very different to the Cuban. Yeah. Lovely observation comedies. I she s is borderline racist. Now, there are some amazing comics in this room that I love dearly. I mean, like all of you. I basically worship at the altar of Deborah Francis. Weiss? I replaced the forty five minutes a week that I used to spend going to mass with listening to the guilty feminists podcasts on my only regress. My only regret is Pershing minutes in Deborah doesn't give me a little Jesus way for it to snack on. But think about the incredible.

"So where comedy intends to make someone laugh a funny comedian can make someone laugh late say, which one I am. China Ghanem sideboard. I looked up this debating template and said that United to define every word in the. Mind, you it also told me not to mention Hitler Mother, Theresa we'd le- specific. And defining changing the world will that's relative a lot of comics Bahia, they'll get up here and try to convince you with their words and their intellect and their fax typical lefty snowflakes. What I'm gonna do is highlight. What a bunch of absolute hypocrites, I'm up against hypocrite hypocrite hypocrite now, I don't actually know what hypocrite Maine's. But I'm sure I'm about to find out. We the affirmative team believe nut night. No that this statement is true. This house believes that comedy can change the world. What would you say is the world the internet civil rights protests sliced bread? Apparently. I mean, you saying this nothing better all worse before or after slots with still talking about. Okay, that's Gresham, but is is changing. The lower changing the world, maybe is changing Taya changing the world. No. That's a different thing. Changing the world is a sliding scale. It's like one of those little, you know, those lollipop whistles. It's a sliding scale. Couldn't promise you that wasn't gonna be would ply. Many years ago. Someone in a strike did a in an elevator up. And the recipients have said fob vote. It was so unfunny. I wrote a stock casting simile about it. Now, the person who did the fought they didn't know that that was going to happen. The phrase was born though because of what they did the fries was born your about as funny as a thought in an elevator. I didn't know that we're going to change language forever that day. But I did just by doing something that you and I do eight food pasta. It's used by dight and then get some bad wind. And changing the world is even about definitions. It's about hope do we as a group in principle. Agree that changing the world can begin with one person. Do we agree that? Yes. If you disagree with euro misogynist. You'll be asked to leave and we will ban you from the building. So I was just testing out what it feels like to be an actual feminazi. Got a site. Still doesn't make me wanna be hit LA broken debating role. So we agree changing the world can begin with one person. Then on we also saying that changing the world could begin with one comedian. It's terrifying. I know, but I didn't pick the subject. So now, we look at actual comedians doing comedy changing the world ten night change the world. I'm going to come out it just feels right? I. I mean, look at these legs them behind a podium. I don't think so anyway. I am I'm wearing black pants safety first safety post. They go by. So there is. Cop cars, what an animal? I'm so. Sorry. Doc in days anyway. I there is special on Netflix at the moment cold and a net by a comedian called Hannah Gadsby. You might have heard. Deborah francis. Talking about it on the guilty feminists. Now, one might say it's actually changing the world of comedy. But don't take my word for it. Here's some of the quotes from reviews of that comedy show. The cot says the power of performance sets example for future young women deciding how they want to tell their stories to the world, I don't know opposing team. Do you want to set an example future young women deciding how they tell stories or if you want to be a big old fascist and stick guns because of a comedy to donate into that? It's a rhetorical question. The Atlantic says gets Sibylla designed to comedy to maybe even changed the world is what leaves and the net ending on. I mean, that's just a desire to change the world that does mean the actually thinks she can change the world. That's just what they're saying. Finally, I didn't get pasta headline of refineries Twenty-nine article because it simply said net is the Netflix special that's going to change comedy. And. So I want it's just one comedian just an isolated incident that doesn't mean comedy can county general except that it did there's a comedian called Hannibal Barassie who brought Bill Cosby's alleged assault back in two thousand fourteen. Ray kindled the groundswell of movement. Brian Logan of the guardian said allegations that had been discussed before had never stock until a standup chose to let rip a.

"Like even that song work from home by fifth harmony the years ago, I'm obsessed with that. Look, here's the thing I would like more celebrities. Let's all do the thing. I'm not a celebrity so negative, say, let's, but if you're a celebrity about me then, okay, Brian, if you're celebrity does not if sorry, Brian, when you're selling dope. Brian, you find you are a celebrity. Well, obviously you got the fucking NBC discount training mate, Brian, your celebrity and what I really need from you is to not do it, prince did and die. Having been this like pied piper of hope and and opportunity for kids who don't have any in their life. I need you to brag his out the huts. Yes. Oh, that turned out. He was like paying for all this. Yes. And so like you heard that because if you're your groups that you've circles you run in celebrity, that's right. I, here's why heard it from Donna right backstage at MTV right before Shimon out to distribute, oh, was it right before she kissed. Okay. Yeah. I need it not because I think we honestly just go around bragging about it, but I need because if she sets an example for other celebrities should be embarrassing, not to be involved in stuff. See when I was in London. He was in London. I got to see one show which was the jungle, which was about the refugee crisis and about a real place named the jungle in France where all of these refugees were stuck at this camp. First of all, the lead characters in the show was Syrian name Safi. No shit. SAF. I first name the first name Musavi. Wow. And it was truly what if you're in London is one of the most moving? I was it was one of those things where like from the jump, the second started I was crying and just kind of immerse it is it's immersive like from the very beginning, I would just like, and it just stayed that way the entire time where you sitting next to strain everyone crying. Yeah, I was sitting next to, I don't know. I didn't really by or like I'm sitting next to the villain, or excuse me, the person they're trying to find in the goonies. Is that right? No, they come upon a skeleton and that he was like an old explorer and they're like, oh, no, this is the body of Chester copper pot. This too. Two way Steven Spielberg show the audience. This is a dangerous journey. Icy, don't worry children will win. Right. So I, I just thought it was the first question about the show is if I sat next to Chester copper is just the first. It was only most British name. I could think of a good name is good, a good British. But anyway, I kept thinking like, and it was funny because they in this in the jungle. They had like the British. It's also a commentary and how the UK really didn't. In. Yeah, and it was about it was just funny watching the dynamics of like the people who were there to help from the UK and just sort of how clueless they were, and all really well intentioned. Actually, the comedy came from them in the show because there was just like, oh, I can't imagine, oh my God, I can't imagine. But you really can't imagine all I could think was like, why have I not spent a summer or a few weeks at a refugee camp? That's all I could think was like, I don't take that much time off, but I can. And that would be worthwhile. And I'm going through. Massive depression right now. Unlike some anything I've ever felt that show got me out of my head and feeling nothing gets out of your head like getting treatment. Of course, that's the most important thing, but also doing something for someone else. Absolutely. Absolutely. Deborah, Francis white on guilty feminist talks a lot about that show because she used to do comedy shows there, and she was constantly saying on the show, like even if your yoga teacher, you can contribute anything..

Yeah, if you do if any other categories him, but I don't know what we're going to do about all of this. I just really want about to happen, and I will make it my life's mission. I want to keep doing what I'm doing, but every time I find something new, I then it's like another door opens and it's like suffragette and working with refugees or whatever. And I'm getting to the point now where I have to do the things I'm already doing well and try stop, opening new Dole's and it's very difficult because you open a new media personally find anything, and then you want to run down that path. So I think my thing is do four things incredibly well on assume inspiration, and you have access and you know, like people that can make things happen.
