"And I'm curious if that was him being like, you know, we're done baby and you like, this is a real thing. And not that they have a really baby Tim. I think broccoli's played really well. I think it's more like if we're gonna win the Super Bowl, you gotta be able to come out on that first drive and punch somebody in the face. And so we didn't necessarily see that now Chris McCaffrey had like that whatever that was that like 90 yard run or whatever that was on the second drive. But we didn't we didn't necessarily see Brock purdy Brock purdy until the second half, but by then, I mean, they were keeping pace with the Seahawks and then all of a sudden it was just, I mean, they turned around in the forty-niners were gone. And it's so impressive the way that they can do that. It's just the perfectly complimentary football team. And every facet. Yeah. I mean, looked at first half was offensively they weren't sharp. They were moving the ball, but they weren't sharp. Defensively, that was the, as you know, I'm the number one fan in the world of Travers ward, that I think was the worst game I've ever seen him play. And, you know, like just so many things went wrong in this game for the forty-niners, specifically in the first half, and they still end up with a decisive in the second half non competitive postseason victory. That's a tough matchup against DK though sometimes, you know, when you're getting bodied like that, it's just, it's just physicality. And in fairness to Brock purdy, I think, kind of a really good off schedule play that got the Christian McCaffrey touchdown in the first place, right? And there were some bad throws in the second half, but you're right. I think you saw the timidness really disappear. And all of a sudden, he just went back to Brock purdy. And I don't know. Do you feel like this is trending toward like a Jared Goff Super Bowl appearance, or do you feel like this is trending towards, I don't know, like a 2001 Tom Brady Super Bowl appearance. It feels more like the former. No, you know, I don't know, that's a really good question. It feels more, it feels more like the former the weaponry is so overwhelmingly good. It's almost like you have so many, you have so many like break glass in case of emergency type of type of options you can go to, where it's just like, eh, you know what? Whatever. Throw a three yard pass to debo Samuel or here's fly suite for Christian McCaffrey or is this something like that that just bust these big plays and that's kind of all you need? I wonder if you, as a defensive coordinator, what are you doing at this point because I hate, well, first off, let me talk about one of my favorite plays that I've seen all season. And it only gained like 8 yards. And then I'll move on to the second question. But the forty-niners at debo and Kyle use check in the backfield. It's a first and ten with like ten and a half minutes left in the second quarter. And they are

"We have to make a 6 yard play like a ten yard play. And I think Christian McCaffrey is the absolute prime example of that. He's been doing that with really crappy offenses for a really long time and it seems like, you know, even an 8 man boxes, he's able to do this. And now, with a little bit more space and I think a little bit more ingenuity, he's turned into quite a weapon and no, he's not gonna throw like 8 more touchdown passes this season, so like what we saw today is not like meaningful in that sense, but I think it is meaningful for them to, I thought this was a big information game, right? Because a lot of teams play the same kind of defenses Raheem Morris does in LA and what you're doing is you're kind of allowing Christian McCaffrey to start giving you information about how a lot of other teams on your schedule are going to play you. And I do think that that was interesting, right? So if I line them up wide if I'm putting them in this kind of motion, if I'm starting them sprinting before the snap, how is everybody going to kind of adjust to that? Are they going to cover him? Are they not going to cover him? And so I actually thought like the halfback pass was like a neat example of not necessarily that it was cool that he could throw the football. That is cool. But just like, how much respect are you going to have in these situations, right? Yep, and this was part of the answer is this is because if you have a Christian McCaffrey, you want to use him as being part of the solution for your office at this point. But also with debo Samuel out in this game, there was a little more of a need for him to do some of this stuff in this rams game, which they got done, the other thing I want to bring up for the forty-niners side is there's probably some hand wringing with this defense a little bit. I know by like halftime of this game, there are some hand rigging with the defense and what's happening here. I do think we underestimate linebackers when they are playing against really good offenses with a really good offensive architects. And the way I hate to say this about the reserve forty-niners linebackers, but the way you can kind of exploit weaker linebackers that we saw the chiefs do last week and we saw Sean mcvay do in the first half of this game. The rams ran, I don't know. If they ran 30 plays in the first half, I feel like 27 of them were some variation of a screenplay. It just kept on doing it. And then they got the touchdown to Cooper Cup, which was they went after or in Burke's. Who's filling in for Dre green law at this point. So Drake greenlaw has been out. I think it's a much different defense when you are missing a starter, but I think especially going up against the chiefs and the rams, that difference is really going to be exploited more than maybe it would be against sort of generic opponent X so I have a gripe on that front because we didn't talk, will you and I talk regularly, but we didn't talk and record it for a podcast after the Buccaneers after the Buccaneers Thursday Night Football loss.

"Disgusting. I don't think there's any way he throws that. He had nobody last year, guys. He was throwing to Marcus Callaway and Deontay hardy or said his name anymore. He has, it was Deontay hardy, and then it switched to anti Harris. Deontay Harris, or maybe the other way around. So I think if you look at the average points per game, he was 14th last year. So I think, yeah, like you said, and are saying if he can do that for an entire season, then he'll be in a good spot. Yeah, and he's being drafted around like hubie 20 somewhere around there right now. So I think that that's why it qualifies as a hot take if I have to justify that. I don't think I have to, but we got Jameis coming in as a top 12 quarterback, rob, what do you have, my friend? I'll go for a little bit more of a negative hot take, I guess. I'm going to say debo Samuel finish outside of the top 20 wide receivers this season. I kind of brought this up earlier already with my ranking of him at wide receiver 13. I'm not going to fully commit and put him outside my top 20 wide receivers, but this is a hot take segment. So we already talked about it. He asked for a trade. There's almost a 0% chance that he matches his rushing production from last year, especially considering he doesn't want to run the ball. If you look at his rushing stats from last year, 59 carries 365 yards and 8 touchdowns. He needed all of that to help boost his numbers up to be the wide receiver three and PPR last year. I don't know that you can count on that happening or even close to that happening again. So you won't see me ranking him up where most people are. If you look at his rookie year rushing stats, 14 carries a 159 yards and three touchdowns, maybe you get something close to that. His second season. Injury plague played in 7 games, he had 8 carries for 26 yards and no touchdowns. I think we get closer to those numbers and his production is going to leave a lot of fantasy managers wishing they selected somebody else.

"Of the Padres. Oh. Even better. Even better. So that's why he's about to do a fantasy. So now what are we going to have like what Joel embiid trolls, you know, whoever Jimmy faller, are we going to have those guys start slapping each other now? I mean, what is going on here? I'm assuming this lap was a combination of he thought he quote unquote cheated and then he sent the nasty GIF about the Padres so then he went and slapped them, which is can't we just go back to guys getting drilled? Like what happened to hey you know this guy screwed me over my fantasy league any sent me a bad name for them with a baseball? Do you still play fantasy football? No, I do not. I stopped about 5 or 6 years ago, top three decisions I've ever made in my life. I got sucked into some fantasy baseball league. I have no interest in. I don't even look at it. It's the worst thing ever. I think I did fantasy. I stopped for two for a few years. And then I got back after the pandemic I was starved and I was like, oh, you know what, let me do it. Instant regret. I want no part of it. I hate it. I hate fantasy football. Now listen, when this first came out, I tweeted who among us has never wanted to slap the shit out of someone who's taking too long to make a draft pick. Obviously, I don't condone violence. She's never slapped someone. But I guess this is the question. When you're doing a fantasy football draft, what is more annoying? The person who takes the longest to make picks or the person who picks a guy who's already been taken. I think that's the more annoying thing that somebody who steals your player right when you're ready to go. No, no, I'm talking about I'm talking about like you drafted. You drafted I'm talking about like you drafted debo's debo Samuel and then the guy two picks later tries to drift debo Samuel and not paying attention. I never had that experience. That's an in person draft thing, I guess? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, okay. And then I'll usually I'm doing it on Yahoo. I barely have enough time to do it on Yahoo. What are you kidding me in person, get together? There's no way. Right. It's kind of sad that this is the biggest baseball story of the year. It shows you they should broadcast Tommy fanbase shock Peterson on Friday night Apple, maybe somebody will watch it. Well, they should have them on fantasy football preview shows or something. They've got to do something with this. Good point, they give monetize it somehow. What made this, it wasn't. Tommy Pham slapping Jack Peterson made this just made it a ridiculous story that you couldn't believe. Like you had said initially. But what then made this hysterically.

"You know, he's an undersized guy. He's fast, but I didn't, I didn't like him when I watched more of him on film. I think that this is where you, yeah, you get an interior. To me, this is where you get maybe an interior offensive lineman. That can pop. I think that, you know, the Patriots will have their picks of guys like that, and I was just looking for my list of guards. So I would put. Marquis Hayes from Oklahoma is sort of in this realm. He's a guy that, you know, I think has a chance. Nick Ford from Utah. I really liked those guys have chances to contribute right away. And of course, you've got three 6 round picks and one 7th round pick. Listen, just give me BPA on these picks, guys that you think can actually make the team. Maybe a ponter. And of course, you pick up that extra 6 round pick. It's around pick people might wonder why you do that. It's in case you have somebody who you would be eyeing as a UDF a, but you don't want to battle another team to sign. So you have that kind of lotto ticket to draft those guys that in other situations, if you didn't have those picks, you would go into the UDF a market. I think that's why Belichick picks up those extra 6 and 7s to take flyers on cats. He's also hoping that a punter is there. Matt erase it from San Diego state. He's known as the punt God. He would replace Jake Bailey, but I think that him Ford, there's an offensive lineman named Zach Thomas that gives you some options. I think that Don terrio Drummond from old miss is a bit of a debo Samuel quarter L Patterson type of guy that you could get in this realm a pass catching back would be that type of guy also so yeah, you're on the right track there Nick. All right, Danny high Fitz is here in Craig world Beck is here from the ringer fantasy show, which is called the ringer draft show. It's got like two identities. Yeah, moonlights is a draft show. We're gonna play a game. We're trying to do this in 20 minutes or less. Let's see if we can pull it off. We're gonna do a game. All the running backs receivers and tight ends. What we think their value is as assets. So this is like a cousin of a trade barrier game. The reason we're doing this is because debo Samuel is available. And producer Steve Surrey was like, where does he rank? How important is it that deebo Samuel is available? So let's start with deebo and then we'll play the game. How important is debo Samuel to you? Is he worth two first round picks? The price, the price for tyrique, the price for devonta Adams, it's like floating between like a first and a second. Other guys like Jamal Adams is worth two first rounders. Does he wear two first rounders to you? I think the tricky thing is that it's so hard to divorce him from Shanahan and the forty-niners in my mind. I feel like to the forty-niners, yes, kind of, because we just watched the playoffs and debo was, he made me feel like I was watching the past the football in the future at the same moment. I feel like it's like Jim Thorpe or something. Someone playing every position at once, but also really I think debo, it reminded me actually of like Joel embiid, the 7 footer who's knocking down three pointers at the end of the game. It's like, how do you guard him? Who do you put on him? Doesn't matter what you do you're wrong. That's what deebo is, where you treat them like a running back, will they shift them out to receive? You treat them like a receiver, shift them in. He changes everything for defense. I just don't know if he's going to stay on the field. That's my concern. It's mine as well. What do you think, Craig? Yeah, I think there's some Shanahan cockiness to this where he's like, I can do this with anybody. So I don't need to pay you $25 million a year depot. I can draft treylon Burks and do it again. He had ten receiving touchdowns in his entire career. In 11 rushing touchdowns is an entire career. So 21 total, he missed some games in 2020. Last year is healthy, but took a lot of hits. You know, when you think about when you watch certain athletes, I remember Earl Campbell was.

"I don't even know. Oh, that's a different mock draft. Okay. This one's not happening. Like Travis Jones at 42. Yeah, we're going to end it there. We're going to end it on a high note. We got to end on a good one. All right, all right. Here's another one. Oh, okay. This is, okay, all right, now we're getting crazy. We're training for debo Samuel. You can on that one. Interesting. So the general consensus here, I guess we can end it this way. The general consensus here, Alex, is that everybody wants DB. Like I saw a few linebackers, right? There's a few linebackers at the top pick, right? I think we saw a couple of Chanel nicobi deans. Yeah, everybody's taking Dax hill. We saw a couple of key or elams. Not a whole defensive back is where the fans want to go. At least based off of this exercise. So get ready for a tackle. Okay. Yeah. I've been thinking about this, you know, kind of coming to a conclusion here with this draft. I think the most interesting thing for the Patriots and this kind of segues into our Thursday mothra show. What are they trying to accomplish at the top of the giraffe? Are they looking at multiyear needs? Are they looking at tackle? Are they looking at spots like that? Or are they literally just looking for a player to make it immediate day one impact that a position of need, right? Corner, linebacker, like those positions, wide receiver potentially, if they go tackled and they're more interested in 2023 than they are in 2022. At the top of the draft at least. That's the general consensus there. So that's going to be an interesting way to look at it and see where the Patriots are going with this. And Alice and I will take another stab on Thursday ourselves. Patriots mock trash will probably around the same time as tonight 8 o'clock and do a little bit later this week, but we'll have mod draft of 5 might be you finally the day that Alex gets draft matters up. So you definitely want to come back for that. And next week, we'll do a first round mock one through 32. And then we'll do another patriots final mock draft next week before the draft. And then during the draft, it's really quickly. We'll have recap shows after every single round the next day. So Thursday night we'll have one Friday morning and so on and so forth. But for the short term, Thursday, what you need to know, same time, same place, a mock draft, 5. And this was fun. I'm glad we did this. This was, I wish I could give credit. Somebody DMed me on Twitter with the idea for the show. Yeah. Whoever that was, that this might be a yearly thing. This was actually fun. So thank you for that idea. Yes, absolutely. So Alex and I will be back on Thursday. Like I said, mock draft 5. Right here on patriots press pass and patriot speed. Thank you so much to everybody that sent in their mock drafts. We tried to get to as many as we could. People that asked the questions in the chat, we appreciate you too, and we'll see everybody on Thursday night. Until next time, signing off for Alex barth I'm Evan Lazar. Thanks for watching everybody. Have a good one..

"To know that. I like that he's not offensive coach, but the one thing I love and I know it's gonna be fun at minimum. He's gonna give really fun, interesting answers that press conferences and I hope just lean into his personality. And I'm like, look, train record not whatever happens here. It's going to be entertaining. And that really, really excites me for Mike McDaniels. It might be Daniel. No S, Mike mcdaniel. Being the new head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Now, we have a question about this. Noah writes in and says, Noah writes in on Patreon as you can do Patreon dot com forward slash scholar. Noah says, hi Zack, I've been watching for over a year now. But this is my very first time writing, and thank you, welcome. This is a two parter at the end. I'm a dolphins fan and we just hired forty-niners offensive coordinator Mike mcdaniel. I'm not sure how I feel about this one, but one thing I'm interested in is how this will impact jaylen waddle. We saw what mcdaniel did with Devo Samuel this year, making him a focal point of the offense in the second half of the year in San Francisco. Do you think he could do something similar with Jalen waddle? Not necessarily utilize in the same fashion. They're not the same type of athlete. But having the offense go through him as opposed to a quarterback or running back and having special plays and or formations. Here are my questions. Number one is that something mcdaniel could try and do. And two could that work? So I don't think you're going to see Jalen waddle used exactly like debo Samuel. They're not the same athlete. That would be a fool's errand. But what's really encouraging about Mike mcdaniel coming to Miami is that what we saw with him in San Francisco is he found a way to best utilize the personnel they had. He got the best out of everybody there. He used debo sandbo like running back because debus Samuel basically is a running back who can catch and he's just crazy hybrid of a receiver and a running back. Jaylen waddle is really good with the ball in his hands and I don't think they're gonna use him running between the tackles up the middle. Certainly not at all. But they're gonna use him outside stretching. I think maybe more similar to the way tyreek hill is used in Kansas City. A lot of fly sweeps, a lot of stuff out wide. Get him in space with the football. And yeah, I think they're going to lean heavily on him. And even if they don't, what I'm trying to say here is that it's just encouraging. They're going to use Jalen waddle a lot, get the most out of him, but also might be gain as a smart dude who if he can get the most out of debo Samuel, it gives me confidence he can get the most out of everybody else in Miami as well. And man, I'm just really, really excited to see what happens. And I think he's going to get the most out of tua, the most out of Jalen waddle, and I am excited to see how the draft and what they do, but I just think that what Miami has not had for quite a while. It's a really good exciting offense. And I am so very much hoping that Mike mcdaniel can bring that to Miami. Okay. Let's talk about the senior bowl..

"When things are not going perfect around him, he's not the guy to lift up his team, the run game was nonexistent for San Francisco, which is, you know, a very different kind of thing for them. And I also agree with you about Shanahan, you know, you look at the run game, you look at the defense unable to make some key plays, the tart drop on the give me pick by Stafford. The only two sacks for that San Francisco defensive front, which is, you know, one of the best fronts in football, they were awful on third down. I think the rams were like 11 for 18 on third down. So the defense didn't show up as well as they usually do. The run game wasn't there like it's always been for Jimmy G and when it's on Jimmy G's shoulders, he just can't get it done. Shanahan, you know, George kittle at the end of the year, he was not utilized the way he should be. He was not targeted nearly enough. And this game he had two catches for 27 yards. What is that about? And, you know, the conservative play calling from Shanahan backfired. He's been conservative all year long. And on third and two to give the ball to you check up the middle when you have debo Samuel and Elijah Mitchell and George kittle. That's the wrong time there. And the fourth and two decision from the LA 45 in the fourth quarter to pump that football. Totally agree. That's what Shanahan's been all about. He's very similar to Belichick. Fourth down and around midfield, he gets a little bit concerned and conservative and he decided to punt when LA had momentum. So yeah, not great by them. Boy, there's a lot covered. "Tough to beat a team three times in a year. You know, I think that while I do not love Matthew Stafford and I did think he played well for him last week against the bucks, I don't think he'll be as good in this game. I just, you know, I don't like Jimmy against this kind of pressure against some of the coverage that the rams can generate. And what is the spread? It's three three and a half. Yep. So I'm gonna take I'm gonna laying the points. I'm gonna go with the rams by a field goal. They don't cover the three and a half. No, so you're taking the points. You're taking the time. If you were taking the rams, you're laying the point. You're giving the points. Okay. I think what you say, rams by a field goal? Yep. Yeah, I hate you. I was gonna say the same damn thing. I picked I swear to God we're like, we're right on the same page. I thought, you know, I picked the niners. I mean, I picked the rams last game. It was week 18. These teams just played in week 18. And the rams got out to like a 17 zip lead and the niners defense stepped up and they played better and somehow some way the niners were able to create some offense with debo Samuel and the run game and they came all the way back from 17 and it went into overtime. A bunch of crazy things happened in that game. I do think that niners defense will keep this close. But I think the ranch is just too talented. And I think OBJ is better than he's ever been. Over the last two or three years, I think getting out of Cleveland did him wonders. And I just think the rams will end up winning. But I think they do win by a field goal. I think it'll be a tight game. I think it'll be a physical game. But give me the rams by three. Boston will dot com ever question of the day. BSG, 39.99 on the annual plan..

"I think that he does that sometimes. And again, I don't know if I can blame Aaron Rodgers, you know? I don't want to get canceled. But, you know, I don't know what else, you know, I don't know what else to do. On one hand, you can't blame him. It's like, wouldn't you want the ball in the hands of your best player, but on the other, it's like, I know he hates sometimes the constraints that this system puts on him, but you got to commit, you know, you've got to really just fully commit to this. It was, look, if it was the last pass of a disappointing loss at the end of it, just wanting season or at least end to the season. It was just kind of it encompassed all of what you just talked about. Where you know, they had to play devonte Adams is freaking down the field, double covered, Alan lazard. I mean, the play design is to have Allen Lazar running wide open over the middle of the field 20 yards down for a wide open pitch and catch and that was it. And by the way, that's why I was hesitant to praise the Mika ryans who should be praised for this, but I hated that call. I think it didn't work at all. And it should have ended with the packers having a first and ten in plus territory and therefore driving for the winning score. But the play was there, and he chucked it for devonta Adams instead of taking the, I mean, gosh, that's a 92% chance you're completing that to the so open on that play. I actually just, it just came by on the old YouTube again. And it's jarring. And the dot, the dots were pretty bad, too. The dots of it were bad. Yep. The forty-niners keep going forward. Jimmy Garoppolo is his win percentage is so good, Connor. I don't know if he knew that. But they're moving on here. Debo Samuel, again, that was the other thing that's just going to ruin the next couple of months for the packers and the team and their fans. That debo Samuel will run on third and 7 to keep that drive alive. If they don't get that is Robbie gold hitting 55 yarder or so in those conditions, I don't know, but debo Samuel ends up converting that first down to keep that drive going. Jair Alexander just didn't get him on the ground when he had to. I don't know if that's just a product of a guy who hasn't been playing for three months and it's almost like a preseason type of game for him as far as the physicality goes. And he just wasn't up for it on that play, but boy, this forty-niners team, the defense and special teams, carrying them through this one. Yeah, the debo that debo run was awesome. I mean, just what an idea. You know, and it's cool like, this is what happens when, you know, you kind of can marry all of your ideas together, like the teams whose scouting department is pipelined into the coaching staff and it's not two groups of people who hate each other and are constantly politicking against each other. This is what happens when the coach goes to the meeting room and says, I want wide receivers that gets yards after the catch, right? It's like the scene in Moneyball. He gets on base. This is what I want..

"I don't know, I'm watching the end of the game approximately when you are, and when the rest of the world is. So you've deviated, yeah. So what's the point of that then? So you can no, now I can start later. Now I can have 3 o'clock kick-off today. I can whatever I can in theory do something with my kids like watch TV. And then we can watch a different kind of TV TV. Yeah. We can watch some Cartoon Network until 4 o'clock. And then I'll start the game. I see. Okay, that makes sense. And so here's to tie in because I knew we were going to talk about this game next. That would be the tie in like so whatever shall McVeigh does with cam Akers reminds me a lot of whatever Matt Lafleur was supposed to do with the special teams coordinator, you know? Because that was, you know, restraint was under fire all year, you know? And that was kind of that it was sort of that perpetual question is like, you know, you're going to change special teams coordinators, you're going to try to do something here. And if I was like, no, no, no, no, no. And now it's not second guessing, but it's like we're at the point now where does he wish he did something? You know? And it's like this weird, you know, it's this weird thing because it was so piss poor. Like performances from top to bottom, like there were just mile wide cracks left in gaps like guys were just being, you know, turned around and you could tell, I mean, you know, Kyle Shanahan knew that this was they were not the better team. And so it was almost like these guerrilla tactics to try to get back into stuff. And they took aim at special teams as an Achilles heel. And you know, they ended up massively successful, but blows my mind is like you go right from something like the blocked kick and then you come out at halftime and then you kick the ball right to debo Samuel and he runs the ball back to midfield and it's like how can you not go over and shake somebody on special teams and be like, we need to get this thing together because this is it wasn't just the big disasters. It was the very little disasters too that all added up. It was. And again, I think buck and Aikman sometime in the first half made some comment like, oh, Kyle Shanahan thinks he can really get an edge on special teams tonight. They can't always do that and et cetera, et cetera. And you just kind of roll your eyes because did you interview Joe judge or do you interview a college Shanahan? Pregame. But no, when Kyle Shanahan says it, it is true and it apparently just happens. But yeah, I mean, that was so obviously you had the punt block touchdown was the forty-niners loan touchdown. But you know that DO Samuel kick returned to open the second half. That set up the field goal that got the forty-niners on the board. I mean, I don't know, you know, I know the forty-niners score more than three or 6 points in that game without the special teams impact here for the forty-niners or if you're on the Packard side of it the negative side of it. We're going to get to Aaron Rodgers future in just a second. And I don't want to, I'd love tomika Ryan's and obviously he had another great night tonight..

"After that game, it was like they looked around and said, okay, it's time to get out of dime. Let's stop playing dime, you know? And they did. I mean, they moved into more of this defense. And it's funny. I mean, they lost to a forty-niners team that was running their offense. Yeah. The Tina created their offense. And so how did you go into that game back in 2019, thinking that you could handle that with such a light box and such light personnel? They've since changed things around obviously. They've gotten they've gotten a different identity defensively. I think they'll be better equipped to handle it. That said, the fact that Elijah Mitchell is rolling now, along with debo Samuel, you essentially have in the forty-niners maybe the best two back backfield remaining in the playoffs right now. I mean, outside of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, I mean, you really do have a whole lot of talent there. And it probably comes down to Jimmy Garoppolo, whether he's able to give you a professional grade performance or not. All right, let's continue our journey back in time to the early one on Sunday. Eagles Buccaneers. I don't know, Connor. I mean, we were looking forward to this one being a little more interesting than it actually was. And look, I was surprised, we did our mid week show and we talked a little bit about how the bucks run defense, maybe I slid back a little bit and Levante David has been out, et cetera, et cetera. And we'll not do David end up suiting up. And all of a sudden it looks like Todd Bowles has his full complement of players and as much as we look at his bucks team and say, oh, you know, Antonio Brown is going now and Chris Godwin's out for the year and they're running out of weapons, et cetera, et cetera, this was a team that rode to the Super Bowl on the strength of their defense last year. And now all of a sudden, for the first time, really since the season opener, Todd Bowles has his full complement of players back in the lineup. Yeah, and you're seeing them lean on those strengths and what was so interesting was not only were the Buccaneers kind of struggling, but the Buccaneers were struggling specifically against perimeter runs. And that was Philadelphia's bread and butter going into this game, which is why I thought no brainer. I mean, they're going to cover at the very least and they're going to give this team a game. And it was really, for those of you who didn't watch, I mean, it's 31 15. I mean, it was 31 nothing at half time. This game wasn't remotely close. And it was sorely disappointing because little peak behind the curtain. I had an eagles column that I really wanted to write an editor Mitch said I couldn't write it unless they got the game within ten points. And so I powdered and I powdered and I didn't want to write about the Buccaneers. And so it was a real bummer for me. But I ended up just writing about the Buccaneers anyway. But 8 rushes for 39 yards for Jalen hurts, miles Sanders to have 7 carries for 16 yards. That's a big boy performance from the Buccaneers and that that is what they do exceptionally well. In addition to have to have Vaughn come around in their own running game, I think adds a different dynamic there..

"But if the niners lose that, I actually think it's like 20% worse. I think it's worth it. Yeah, because they were up big and they deserve to win. Look, I'm not gonna cry about the refs in that game. They ran all over. Steve ball Samuel had 7 yards of carry. It was crazy. He should touch the ball every single time. I know. That's the guy. I'm a huge imagine, we talk about kittle, get a lot of one reception, I probably only like two or three targets the whole game. It doesn't even matter. They have like 5 playmakers. And Jimmy G, not even spectacular numbers. If you told me it was 16 for 25 for one 72 and interception, I'd be like, oh, how much did we win by? You know, but I don't know. They did enough. They're just a weird, weird team. And we'll talk about next week's games. It's a big third down throws. Kiddo was weirdly invisible. They didn't go to them that much. It was almost like they're using them more as a blocker. I mean, I had a lot of stuff on the niners. I'm not gonna lie. And I didn't tell you because what? Yeah, I'm sorry. Sorry. Yeah. Botha went down, then Warner wins. Bosa and Warner. Yeah. And at that point, I was like, wow, this is lined up for the all time Dallas comeback. And I was thinking about do I lie bet this and try to offload some of some of my niners worries. But it felt like if that game was one more quarter, you probably wouldn't buy ten. So that's super lining. Yeah, that's good. That's good. They should make them longer, longer, longer games, that's all. Yeah. 5 quarters. When they cut to McCarthy during a playoff game like that, and he's just staring out onto the field like somebody who doesn't know where he left his car in a garage. Like what are the emotions that run through knowing that that's your caretaker for your playoff destiny? I wish they wouldn't do it. I used to get that way with the Jones family when they cut to the Jones family. Cut it out. This is a jinx, and then it's like, oh, they have to show something, right? They have to show the sidelines, right? Maybe if Rommel is dating Carrie Underwood, although they would show her like I guess they have to show something and one of the misfits here and it has to be Mike McCarthy, who's just not prepared and even at 23 7, I was like, oh, I want to blame McCarthy for some time management thing or something. It's like, oh yeah, what about all these penalties? This is like pre snap penalties is a great sign of your team is just horribly coached. And there it was. It didn't even have to be. And then, of course, the game at the play at the end was terrible, too. But no, I was the coup de grace. I thought it would be next week. I'm like, oh, we got one with Shanahan against McCarthy. That's not too bad. We can win that matchup. Everything else equal, but I thought it'd be next week that he screwed it up. But yeah, they're all despicable characters, honestly. Can we stop with the Kellen Moore? What coaching job is he going to get? Yeah. Like, why don't why don't you go into these games the same way the niners going to games with debo Samuel or they're just like, this guy's getting touches. We're getting this guy the ball. He's leaving this game. He's going to touch the ball 12 to 15 times. He didn't have a catch until the fourth quarter. I know. I mean, he had a couple fair catches on punts, but it's just a weird that you have like these weapons that you're not necessarily using. And we should talk about the dak thing really quickly. I mean, that interception he had was a killer. It was like a B minus C plus game from him, but they needed him to be at least very good in that game. Sure. Yeah, so frustrating because he is, he looks like one of the best a lot of times, you know? And then he just can't get it done in a game like this. And I don't know would help that they could run, right? They were always better when Zeke was able to run. And then Zeke said today he was playing with a torn partially torn PCL. I don't know what he was talking about. What is the 2027 September? Week three,.

"Dan Dan. It's today Got Albert Breer Monday morning quarterback coming up in a couple of minutes. He's got a bid on Carson Wentz what he thinks the Eagles need to do right away. But another story, Doug the kind of crap Up this weekend in the hay. Oh, by the way, category. You and I were on the air Friday when, when Trevor Laurence had his big Pro day and he was as advertised through a couple of deep balls that looked phenomenal, and then we find out over the weekend. Yeah, I'm going to have that surgery on my left shoulder, not his throwing shoulder his left shoulder. And recovery time is 5 to 6 months. So now suddenly it's oh, not that it's going to stop the Jaguars from taking him. But what kind of rookie season? Is he gonna have? Five and six months could be a little bit longer. You're getting into the end of August beginning of September. I wonder, you know what kind of rookie year could Trevor Laurence have? Because this is a pretty big deal. You don't just drop. Oh, by the way, Hey five or six month recovery period. That's a pretty big deal. Now it is his non throwing shoulder right. This is very important to point out. But what happens when you can't use your non throwing shoulder is you can't bend. There's lots of things you can't do. Um, you can do the mental reps. You can't go into all the meetings. I do wonder how much he can throw, considering he's not using his is off arm. I don't know enough. Like when, in that 5 to 6 month recovery Can he start throwing Because you do use not just your hips, but you're all farm in terms of your movement. Um The other part to it, though, is I think this is a They're playing the long game. Not too short game in Jacksonville, like I don't think their intention was to be super hyper competitive. Season one and Good. One of the unspoken parts of what allowed the Francisco 49 hours to reach the Super Bowl a year ago was that Jimmy Garoppolo got hurt two years ago where, three years ago whatever it was Because that then the season and you know, crumbling up and they end up getting, uh, the second pick in the draft, which became Nick Bosa, who was the best player in Super Bowl. Up until you know a pup until Tyree kill broke loose, And, you know, then they got Debo Samuel the start of the second round as well so again, and it doesn't mean they necessarily tank but there could be reasonable expectations of season one and allow them to have a slow build, if you don't start him right away. Yeah, it's for me. I look at it as look at you. You can try to dress up all the controversy. Oh, it's Urban Meyer really know he's going to take Trevor Laurence number one. But what kind of rookie season is gonna be you? You want it to be a season? Where? Okay. If you're not going to compete, you want Trevor Laurence to be able to learn everything he needs to is a rookie. So we can it year to running and this is when now we're going to start making leaps. And, you know, I honestly think they're going to be in the Super Bowl the next in the next five years. They're gonna be there They have. They will take a huge jump because of Trevor Laurence. But now it's a rookie season. Where how much is he even gonna play and, you know, are you going to hold him out even longer? Let's just say he doesn't get the clean Bill of health until the beginning of September. Well, then he's missed the entire preseason and then, all right. He's not going to start to start the season. But then there's going to be a huge rush to get him in because he's the number one overall pick. He's going to start without a lot of reps. And then it's gonna be a rocky rookie season where you're coming out of it, and you're looking back saying Boy. I wish he had a different rookie season. I wish we were able to have a year where he took his lumps. He understood the game. He had a good year. But then we can get two year too. It's it's almost like you're one. You have to think that this could just be a lost season for him because you don't know how he's going to develop. Not clearly. Look, He's that kind of talented. He could show up. We wanna go. Yeah, I'm good. No training camp and throw four touchdowns week one. But this five or six months rehabilitation you talked about the things you can't do is I'm already thinking, Okay, this this season's going to be whatever it's going to be for the Jaguars and a lot of the excitement that's there. You have to, you know, kind of put a pin in it and go well. We may not see this guy in the field now until September. And remember, you know, many of these quarterbacks come out and the first year is not not a good one. I mean, Troy Aikman's obviously the most famous. But you kind of go through the kind of the living dead like Peyton Manning was terrible his first year as well. So it's you know, it's it's not. It doesn't mean your career is gonna be a disaster. If you have a shortened Khyber even disappointing first year Um So, yeah, but like, Look, it's it's interesting. It's something that's like now he through and through fine with it. You know, at his pro day, so I don't know how much would issue you know it should be. But it is at least interesting to see kind of this timeline, which is A much different timeline than many of us thought it would be Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith, Doug Gottlieb in four. Dan and Dan. It's today. So when you mentioned the Texans and what they have going on a few minutes ago about their situation, a quarterback and obviously to Shawn Watson is a big deal. But we're looking to see where JJ Watt is going to land. And right now there is some kind of interesting him. Look, the guy Three time defensive player of the year. He's a big name, and you know he's hoping for the Hey, can I get one last ride? You know, can I Can I hook up somewhere? Whether it's with my brothers and Pittsburgh or someplace else or Green Bay? Hey, can I get one last ride and maybe we get into the Super Bowl, But I think there's a deeper thing with JJ Watt when it comes to do Shawn Watson and as we continue to talk about the quarterbacks here Is that when you and I talked about this, he was let go in the middle of our show that we did on Friday, and already it was. It was positioned as boy. Did they cut him and we find out that he wanted to be released so we could go pursue a Super Bowl the last couple years. That's big PR that the Texans needed because the last thing I need is more bad optics as they're trying to deal with it to Shawn Watson situation and I think they got a lot back by saying hello. That was a nice thing. They did right. That was that was a big reaction. There's a nice thing they did They let they let JJ Watt go so we can go someplace else. And clearly, look, you know I didn't want to pay in that kind of money for being a guy that's that's not the player he used to be. But sometimes the optic is worth it. And they needed that because right now, with Shawn Watson things they're just to the point where both sides seemed dug in, and I feel like if you really want to bring your quarterback back and have him be part of the team and not have to trade him. You have to be doing things that's going to bring him back and not things that are gonna alienate him like the the sides aren't talking. And they fired the longtime equipment manager that both J. J Watt ended. Shawn Watson, Love and JJ What was very vocal on Twitter and you're firing the guy that we really liked. It's well respected as the Texans Just continue toe clean house here..

"Copes in the second quarter, right before the second goes to the Niners got the little circles and 1st and 10 on the 20 yard line that the chief's punted it into the end zone. So with one away to go, they took over on the 20. They ran Mostert for three. Okay, so now that clock moving here they didn't call from that was that was no joke. The next play was they ran most of for two with 27 seconds left the chief's called time out, thinking they had a chance. Then he threw the past Jeff Wilson and foremost want ego that got him all the way up to the 47 yard line. And they took a time out of 14 seconds ago. Then he throws a pass deep down the sideline to kill the one. I'm thinking over 42 yards, but they called offensive passenger pass it and then they just ran it right. Or do they just then? They just took a knee. That was it wasn't offensive. P I was in a bad call it I think it was a bad call wasn't a questionable offensive. Pia. Have I tapped out on the use chick touchdown. Yeah, And he just I just I gotta say, man, I know. Maybe it's just all the chatter about Jimmy that I was looking at him. And I was thinking you got a poison lens. Yeah, yeah, you want well. So what's the least of all his sucking His lens got poisoned, and I can't see it like he can't see Jimmy's true beauty anymore. He only seems like through the cracked one season lends. Yeah. Poison, my love. No, I'm the last guy out here, you know, And I'm not saying he's a God's answer to to the quarterback position. However, I am saying the guy wins most of the day and games he starts and got us in the Super Bowl, so I'm not. I mean, if if the Niners went into next season with Garoppolo, I'm telling you, it's not the end of the world. They might even have a good year. We've seen the end of the world. I wouldn't be thrilled. You know, what's the answer that for real like now that staffers out the answer was to continue to do these little tosses Debo Samuel. That was the answer What was running like a frickin stallion. So strong isn't he says, and they went away from in the second half. They were running the ball to him in the first half, and he was galloping up, and then they just kind of stopped it. I don't think I'd want to hit him either. Like I watched some of the babies like they really don't want to get near him when he's coming at him and said he was shot out of a cannon. Yeah, our staff. He said that when he was still with the way, which was bonkers to begin with, it was because I think he was about 39 at that time. And you still would think like, yeah, but this guy's a get away from like his career ending, which he still lives at any given point. One hit her nose career, everybody everything right? "The Raiders. Maybe there are a few teams that would kick their guide to the curb for a chance to sign Aaron Rodgers. Well, honestly, the Packers We're in the NFC championship two years in a row now. They've been in the NFC championship, and it's frustrating. For Aaron Rodgers that they haven't broken through. And a quarterback of Aaron Rodgers is elk. You would think why Drew Brees would have more than one Super Bowl title. To his name. In fact, a lot of people were bringing up the stat that Tom Brady has now won as many NFC championships in one year as Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers have in A decade or more. Get the frustration. But how many other places could Aaron Rodgers go to Where we he would have that much better of a chance. In Green Bay. A week ago. At this time. Was saying, and I wasn't the only one saying that the Packers are playing at a different level than everyone else in the playoffs, and it was true. They just didn't follow it up. With a similar I'll put Yesterday. Like the Green Bay Packers. So the bills Probably want to get rid of Josh Allen. Hey, the box have Tom Brady If Tom Brady retired. I'm sure the box would love Dav Aaron Rodgers. But as long as they have, Brady, they're not gonna bring in air Rogers the Chiefs are gonna bring in Aaron Rodgers. That's your final four teams. In the NFL this year. I know a lot of people like the idea of San Francisco because of his connections in Northern California. We know that the diners need an upgrade at quarterback. And it helps that the 40 Niners beat the Packers to go the Super Bowl last year. So you connect those dots and say, Well, he'd be much better would be much better off in San Francisco than Green Bay. Would be much better off I don't know they would I mean, if we're talking about being devoid of weapons That's the other thing. People are bringing up. How stupid do the Packers look again for drafting Jordan Love? Like Initially they looked on. And then they didn't look dumb for a while because the Packers were winning, and now they look dumb again. Because Aaron Rodgers all the sun again doesn't have any weapons. George Cattle. That's who. The 40 Niners after TiVo Samuel. Is that a far superior? You know, George Kendall is a much better time and then Robert Tanyon. Debo Samuel or any wide receiver that the 40 Niners have can't hold. The can build it, Davante Adams. Aaron Jones. That defense Overall. Don't know.

"Trent Williams dealt from the Redskins to the forty Niners for five today in a three next year and we're breaking it down as you just heard the guys drafted by Kyle Shanahan and Trent Williams is a talented guy and if you look at the forty niner list of to do list today are coming into this traffic should say replacement for Buckner check can log the impact wide receiver who can start opposite Deebo Samuel check brand in the UK left tackle replacement for Joe Staley check Trent Williams would yes thanks I I I mean it it's it's it's it's pretty awesome I mean I I'd be it can't be that simple I mean can you just can you just go in the draft in in it that you would think is what you're supposed to do you you you you talk about the team that you know the one that wins the NFC west you go to the Super Bowl you miss the Superbowl basically by one play and and and you want to get better and I think after the Superbowl in after free agency you you start thinking whether the team is not as good as they used to be I think if you look at the team now I mean you would have to think that you know they are as good or better then they were going to the Superbowl yeah I I mean you only hold off on saying that is because we haven't seen this combination of guys play together yet put Trent Williams is a like I just got a text from our buddy Kevin Francis a good pick great pick

The Lead
Hail to the Chiefs
"All right so this was an incredibly even matchup but at the end of the day a clear. Oh you're winner emerged Jaylo well and Shakira like let's let's give her due to Yemen Jaylo whatever. She's whatever over she's taking to look and move like that at fifty you know we can all take a lesson from her and And who knew she could move on a pole. It is kind of funny that you know. So how many years. After the wardrobe malfunction we now just have performers on stripper Poles. All right so let's talk about this remarkable game I What was the vibe in the stadium before kickoff? Yeah I mean listen. It's the Super Bowl right. People are excited. I will say that there were a lot more chiefs fans then niners fans and that was kind of to be expected. That's how it's been in Miami all week I think ESPN projected before the game that it was going to be sixty seven percent Kansas the city fans which would make it the most lopsided attendance in history and it really did man. It felt like achieves home game. You had the chance and you know it was a sea of red. Obviously because both nighters and she's fans where red but but chiefs fans definitely were taking over and you could tell when they did the introductory lineups? You could tell. Whenever they they showed chiefs players are coming through the tunnel the stadium which get loud And conversely a lot of booing being whenever the camera would focus on the niners. And you know we've talked a lot in the buildup to this game this week about Kobe. Bryant he just is looming over the world of sports so largely right now now and there was a beautiful tribute to him before the game began. Yeah so there was a moment of silence before America. The beautiful and national and the national anthem were song on Four Koby daughter Jonah and the other seven victims of the helicopter crash. Sure Sunday's they will never be for each of the teams Rosters were lined up on their own twenty four yard line. No Mosh to Kobe's number twenty four as the moment of silence happened and a few players were also wearing purple and gold cleats during warmups. All right so this was expected to be a close game and the first half was incredibly. Even what jumped out at you from that first half. Yeah I mean the first half was super even obviously. We went into to the second half tied at ten The first quarter kind of gave you a setup of how this of how you thought this game was going to go you know. Both teams had strong drives early San Francisco got the running game going out of the gate with deebo Samuel But despite controlling the ball for nearly six minutes in their opening drive that drive only ends in a field goal the chiefs then come back to answer with a really strong drive heavily favoring Running back Damien Williams play action was really working for them in four achieves team. Who's WHO's running game isn't nearly as strong as San Francisco's? This was pretty key for them on that particular drive third and eleven and Patrick mahomes shows off the legs he takes off off and he appears to get the first down but then he fumbles after a hard hit pushes him back. So it's now fourth and one and Andy Reid. has this decision to make. Does he go for word on further on fourth and one it's early in the game. San Francisco's defense was the best in the league. This season on stopping fourth and one And kind of going into this game you know you don't really ever know what he's GonNa do on fourth down but he ends of going for it. And it's absolutely right call Damian Williams gets the first on a short run and Patrick mahomes eventually takes it into the end zone. Himself for the touchdown and the chiefs go up seven to three and early in the second. Quarter Jimmy Garoppolo threw an interception reception and the chiefs and up on a drive with another fourth and one and they go for it again. Yeah and it ends up being the right call again now. Let's remember that Andy. He read only went for it on fourth down ten times in the regular season and here he's gone for it twice in the first twenty minutes of the game so clearly. It's the Super Bowl. He's putting everything on the table and it ends up being the right. Call it results in points. The chiefs the cheesecake field goal. And they go up ten to three okay so at this point Jimmy. Garoppolo has just throw an interception. Forty niners are struggling a bit and it looks like they need a big drive to get back into the game and they get it they did. The the very next drive is really a statement driver San Francisco. The run game really got going. The five straight strong runs including a touchdown throw. Oh a play action pass to a very unlikely hero. Kyle used check the fullback. We got a fullback touchdown in the Super Bowl who also became the first player from Harvard? Ever to score touchdown in the Super
