But NASDAQ has really had a big year this year, but One thing that took a big hit for me today, which was kind of surprising and I can't figure out what is Debbie Debbie Debbie. Debbie like lost almost three bucks a share. Today. I have no idea why they had good earnings reports now. They They exceeded expectations for per share. But there was some revenues that were down. But they said with their cutbacks, everything else that there No, everything was good, and it was actually not a bad report. But for whatever reason, and stock just dropped. I could never figure these things out. If they get a good something gets a good report. Stuff will go down something. It's a bad report. People want to buy. Now it looks like I thought a red that AMC has secured financing and things like that to get it through the next few months and stuff like that it'll movie theatres opened back up. So it's probably gonna guess that Amazon is not going to be in the business of buying. Um, AMC. You know, we talked about last week that the company that owns belts is going by. Looks like it's going by, too. Auction's going. Bye, Penny. It will assume all their debt and everything like that. So they they look like they have some new ownership. But looks like AMC is going to stick around. They're gonna hang on. I'm gonna watch their stock. I'm curious about What that's going to do, because it's really bottom and lingered out on his movie is services, streaming services and stuff like that have gone up and I remember they had the angst about everybody released their movies, digital and stuff like that. Better Communication Through Letters

"Debbie Ronca is President of Sequoia coaching a Certified Life Coach. Speaker and disc profile trainer with John Maxwell team she is also the author of the family letter how to intentionally develop a culture of honor encouragement and value with your loved ones a bestseller in nine relationship in Harrington Categories Ronco wants start a global movement. So other families also benefit on the family wetter. We're going to talk about this today with Debbie. Debbie welcome to the show. Thank you so much for coming on. You are locked them. And thank you for having me of course so debbie for a lot of our listeners. That might not know what a family letter is. Could you go ahead and tell them what the impact of a family letter is and really what they could get out of it? That's a great question. Read on the family letter was basically something that we started as a tradition in our family years ago when our kids were growing up we had the intention of teaching them how to use their words To be encouraged others to be able to use the words to bless another person. And you know. Sometimes it's really hard for kids especially to verbalize. They feel a little embarrassed or uncomfortable. So we've found that using a letter was the safe way to go. That's great So I myself actually have done something like a family letter before in my family. It's not quite what you do But it really helped teach me how to express myself to my family in a healthy way and really be able to communicate and open wider doors. Is that the same hope that you are looking for with your letter. Absolutely the whole intent really is to let the other person know why their loved valued in celebrated and when you hear that from other family members it really just builds wonderful foundation of trust and connection and a bond and read what we did specifically is. We made it a tradition on our birthdays. We thought why not birthdays the day. Everyone is celebrated right so why not let that be the day that we received this letter and so we taught our children from the time they were young and of course we made the what the intent that had to be in the letter? Simple so they could do it and you know when I speak at women's events I always tell the moms don't worry about the grammar. Don't worry about the punctuation year teaching them how you used the words and you don't ever want to make them feel it has to be perfect because it's coming from their heart and of course as our family grew and I say read. We've been doing this now for over thirty years and after thirty years our children thirty eight thirty seven and thirty five. They still want their letters. I mean it is a big tradition in our house. Love that I love that. That's fantastic. Could you dive a little deeper into the content of these family letters absolutely well like in the beginning we make it really simple for the kids because we want them to right so it really? You need to not just tell the person you love them but why because when you specifically say why it goes deeper you know. It's just not the Cliche I love you but when you hear why and then you want to celebrate their gifts and talents you wanNA recognize Any celebrations in their life and of course as we got older we expanded that. So Ah Chris. Reflecting on the past year of this person's life were on their birthday. And you know everybody walks through a dark time trial a difficulty and we write about that in the letter like Geez. Jonathan I remember when you were going through that difficult relationship and the way that you handle bit really made us proud of you. You showed a lot of kindness and compassion and so we actually recognize encourage. The person helping walk through difficult times as well. That's really nice to hear. I think a struggle that a lot of families go through not just with something like this but milestones for any of their children is. When do we start you know? When do we put him on a bike? When do we teach them how to do this? When would you say is a good time to get your children to start being engaged in this? When we started the letter read. Our children were five and seven while and then we had an remind you that the letters were short but they were learning how to communicate and we had our third child when he turned five. We would always do this moment of re writing letters and reading the letters at our dining room table so he grew up here in his father received letters his mother his brother and sister so when he turned five he said. I WANNA DO LETTERS. I want in and so he actually turned from the Observer to the writer so he started as early as five and I believe the power in at read is the consistency like we chose birthdays. And so we know every birthday we're gonNA gather and have letters and of course being a mother and a father. We've added the mother and father's day letter in there too. Oh of course you have to make sure that you've got a little extra recognition for all the hard work you do for raising your children It's the best gift. Jerry Seib really love those letters absolutely so I think like anybody else. Not all of our lives are rainbows and lollipops. Right kind of goes through a hard time and sometimes that hard time is reflected onto our family. How can the letter be used as a catalyst for accomplishing forgiveness? Or even reconciling some things in the past one of the best ways that I think he can open up. The line of Communications is through the power of a letter. I would think that you would agree with me read. Don't you feel that when a relationship is broken? One of the most difficult things is to be able to come back and talk face to face because there's so much hurt and there's so much wounding and you still wind up fighting and you don't reconcile but I feel when you can write in a letter. What you like about that person. What you love about that person that you've missed the relationship that you're sorry that they disagreed you know. Can we start again? I believe you can maybe crack a door open. That has been slammed shut for years and that could be the beginning of the communication. Because it's a safe place to see if you can open that door again and we have a great story with our children. They were seven and five at the time at that time. We were doing Christmas letters as well. And you know how children are they. Can they argue? They fight and they wrote their letters and nobody knows what's written in the letter to you. Read it and my daughter wrote a letter to her brother saying that she was so sorry that he was mean to her and he she wished that he could be a nicer brother and my son and in his letter to his sister wrote. I know I haven't been a great brother and I know I've been hard on you. I'm really sorry. When they both read their letters. They looked at each other and they ran over and they hugged each other and Oracle. The letter gave the voice to the prop room. And so I know children can do that. I really believe adults can do that. And you know in this crisis time read. I'm really thinking hearts are being tender is D- A lot of people are klaren teen. A lot of people are thinking about really what is important in life now. This may be a great time to write that letter to that broken relationship and try to restore it absolutely. I think as many people would agree with me. A family is very important especially during these times. That's really who you're GONNA hold dear. You have close. I know I personally have been talking to my mother way more than I have before during this little walk down. I'm sure this letter can go even further pass. Your family can not absolutely you know. I believe everybody in life should receive a letter from someone so I really think if you sat down and thought about it you may have that teacher that mentor that business partner that neighbor that Fran and somebody who's impacted your life that you could just take time and write them a letter to let them know how they impacted your life. It would mean the world to them

"Debbie Debbie thanks for calling six ten W. TV hi I do work for us all and I think it would be kind of scary but I the tent is an absolutely necessary thing to do but you know you think what is absolutely necessary I didn't I I couldn't hear I check I at least they should pretend at a young age but I don't know all of that I think high schoolers are great for that project but you know so you're Latium or whatever but I don't know it is it it's a tough one but I would say if we're not prepared then wow but you save lives it you can't prepare but not easy you can prepare it's just that you prepare in a different fashion you you you don't do it as if there's an actual lunatic in the school shooting people you know you you could call it just it in emergency drill and you could run the kids to the pace is just saying Hey you know we we got to go hide behind a desk I I don't know that you really need to tell us you know a first or second grader that there's a madman loose in the school with a gun and we all got a height if if you put it under the guise of it's an emergency task it could be a tornado drill anything like that but I I just think that you know I'll tell you Debbie I appreciate your call thank you for chime in and do something that happened I was here at the station last weekend and and I came in to do some work and I brought my dog along I've got this really chill chocolate lab that they came in with me and there is some somebody else arrived here with a very young daughter and they came walking in and I had no idea that their daughter was freaked out by dogs and they came walking through the doors and my dog was there saw this little girl and went kinda trotting up to her that girl was terrified I mean she was terrified and I felt absolutely horrible I I never expected that something like that would happen her mom's like it's okay she's afraid of everything she over reacts whatever my point is is to see the actual look of terror on that girls face just by seeing my dog I just don't see the wisdom in scaring young children in into doing an active shooter drilled they don't know it's a drill and then you you scare the crap out of them your run him into the safe room or whatever it is that you do and you got all that was just a drill everything's okay there is no bogeyman out there I think for the younger kids you you you have to call it something else and and and once again I'm not talking about not doing a drill in general but I'm saying when when you have somebody come into the school and active they act like there is an active shooter drill the teachers don't know this is going on the kids don't know what's going on I think that's a recipe for disaster John thanks for calling this expected no so I mean arm was in elementary school in the seventies and what was truly frightening words we had to do drills like fallout shelter drills where you get under your desk can cover your ad and prepare for nuclear all and are we turned out okay I mean are you sure you turned out okay but I mean did you the number one when when you did it you did it under the guise of a drill right they they didn't say we are under attack you've got to get under your desk today not all but they are different really starting to a second or third grader is Hey we're gonna do this drill because are you know there's a Cold War going on and and Russia might almost with nuclear weapons I don't just but but John my my point is it's too drastically different things you knew it was a drill they didn't say Russia has just launched nukes we got to get under our desks because of the bombs are gonna start dropping they didn't play it off as being a real active situation you you went through a training drill I don't know that we need to see how the kids were yeah in the situation if it ever really does sound and then one day of doing it I see your point is well all right John thank you I think you could achieve the same thing without you know again if it's high schoolers so maybe seventh grade on up middle school I I think that they can probably digests this a little bit more but I don't think real young kids need to to go through that is it change change thanks for calling six ten WTVN Hey what's going on so yeah I remember when I was in you know grade school they would say that we're doing you know tornado drills need to grab a grab a book in the hallway get the fetal position put over the back your hat but yeah like like you were saying never once did they say okay there's a tornado common you gotta go you know like get in there so yeah I think it's a real bad idea for them to actually have somebody come in because I have a my son is in fourth grade my daughter is in fifth grade they just had this drill I want to say two days ago and they said at the time they didn't know what was going on they said they knew there was quote on quote some drill that what's going to happen but they don't say it and then they said when the the teacher was like okay well we got a lock the door turn the lights off you know get a get one back to the wall and like my son was like yeah you think you didn't everybody was just like what's going on why are we doing that so I mean as a the bad but you know like you know like you know going back to like when I was in grade school you know never once were they like those are tornado comment everybody go everybody knew okay this is a drill let's go but we all knew what to do if it ever happened sure so I don't see the point of them happy in an active shooter to say Hey if a bad person ever comes into the school in this in this situation this is what we're gonna do but yeah I mean I actually have some guy run into the school because in you know chaos Jess and for a drill no I don't think it's a good idea change pretty shitty on the call the traffic.

She was an easy going child and very affectionate with their family so an sometimes took sue along with her or even under dates. And it wasn't a problem you know at least not for. I don't know maybe the guys didn't like it but her thinking maybe one time time okay. Circumstance are less date well. After an moved away for college she frequently had sue. Come visit her on the weekends. The other students at our school loved sue. She was like everyone's little sister. susie big brother Harley had a daughter named Kristen when Assu was just five years old and when Kristen stayed with her grandparents they paid sued to keep her busy but as they got older the age difference really diminished and soon became good friends with her niece. Kristen Sumit her best friend when she was thirteen years old sandy row. Sandy and sewer inseparable spending spending time hanging out at a local bakery and attending high school classes together. Su worked as a lifeguard at a hotel. Swimming Pool in the Summers and Sandy would sit by the pool with earn play cards when the pool was busy so sue was just an upbeat energetic type of person she was always busy doing something finer bonner. Planning something fun. One thing the girls left to do was to shop. They could shop for hours and not even spend much money they also like go to the movies. Sue Play tennis but Sandy never got good at sport. Even though she tried sue was a really busy kit. She ice skated. She was a hockey cheerleader. And she also served on the student council the PEP club and the French club. She was also a really big reader sometimes sometimes reading one or two novels a week even during the school year but suicide human half draw and certainly far from perfect especially as a teen. She could be rebellious. She sometimes with skipped class or went home for lunch and just didn't bother returning to school after lunch but she got away with a lot. She was talented at making elaborate excuses. That are teachers and parents usually believed so sue and sandy graduated high school together in nineteen eighteen. Seventy seven sue then went to a private girls' college in Fulton Missouri. Sandy stayed in Saint Louis and went to Washington University so they are less. Listen two hours apart. So they're able to visit each other pretty often. Yeah but when sue announce she was majoring in accounting. Her friends were pretty surprised. She seemed to fund fund to be a serious number crunching office person but sue really enjoyed accounting. She was fun and adventurous but she also was very disciplined organized also. She really admired her dad. who had an accounting degree? So after graduating in the top of her class suit took a position with Santa the energy in Amarillo Texas while she was working there she got her. CPA and the next summer. She traveled to Saint Louis to be Sandy's maid definer Sandy's marriage would last only four years but soon would always be there to listen to her and give her advice then ensued took a second job after working for a while with Santa Fe energy. She moved to Midland Texas and had a position with N run run. Yes the notorious company but at the time it was well respected. It was a good company. This is before they had their slippery slide. Yes now after six months of working with Enron. She is transferred to their headquarters in Houston and in Houston. Sue spent a lot of time with her former sister-in-law. Debbie Debbie had had been married and divorced. Sue's older brother Pete. Souza would go to her nephew soccer games and she had shopped the Debbie on the weekends she left to shop for clothing and and she dressed nicely so she set up an exchange with your friends and Murillo so that they ought quadruple their wardrobes by sharing so in nineteen eighty seven. Sue took took a position with southwestern Bell Corporation in Saint Louis her position and the people she worked among their lead her into a more glamorous life if she started attending charity Events Dinner Parties and Gallery openings and she was happy to be back living near her friend Sandy. They began spending more and more time together having lunch taking aerobics classes which was a big thing at the time she was also reunited with her niece Kristin during this time they were only a few years apart and became good friends so they went out on the weekend nights and sue was happy to pay kristen's way because Sumeida good it. Salary and Kristen was still struggling but a suge close to thirty. She began to worry about finding a partner and having a family. She told a French French. She wanted to have kits and she'd like to stay home and raise them while loving husband would work to support them and they live in a nice suburban house and and then she met Rick Mcfarland and he seemed to fit the bill of the Kinda guy she wanted at least to begin with. Yeah so rick was the second son of Dick and and Mona McFarland of Kirkwood Missouri. When he is a young kid the family moved to Saint? Louis he grew up in webster groves with his two brothers. David David and done in high school. He is a big water polo player and he worked on the staff of the school newspaper. He went to southwest South West Missouri State University in Springfield after high school but had difficulty concentrating so while he was here his diagnosed with attention deficit disorder and put on medication. And with the mets he was able to maintain a B average so he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration nation and got a job with stockbrokerage company. Shearson Lehman. I did pretty well. There drove a beamer. Had a carriage Charles lived in an upscale port town right so from just hearing that you'd say Oh this is a pretty great guy. Why would you because he's got a BMW BMW? Well it seems like a good prospect. He's got a job right. He's having heard anything. Says he's a jerk right. That's what I'm saying but you know like everybody else. He did have issues but he was pretty good at hiding them for most people. He did get in trouble one time in college for stealing but the charges were dismissed. One of his former dates said that rick made her very uncomfortable after they had two dates his because she told him she didn't want to see him anymore but he persisted calling her to the point where she was afraid of him and then she caught him hiding in the bushes outside of her house stalking getting her concern. Yes but of course. Sued doesn't know about any of this right and sue and Rick had actually attended the same high school all but they didn't really meet each other until they bumped into each other at a party in Saint Louis. Rick was much quieter than Su so they seemed like kind of unlikely unlikely couple when they began dating but to sue she felt like she hit it off with him again. Not not to demean sue. But we've already talked about how she's hitting thirty and she's thinking like time is running out so maybe she settled for something not quite the top of her list list. Yeah that's what a lot of people close to her. Actually thought bird. No he review would do in a pinch enough. I'd go that far but I guess she didn't seem like she was head over heels like he was you know her prince charming but thought he would do you would do when he seemed like a nice stable guy but he wasn't nearly as clever or witty. Assu you know sue was really fun but you know. Rick seemed like he could be a good match for her. She could be the outgoing one and he could keep her grounded but still sandy and kristen thought that sue probably was settling a bit with Rick just because she wanted to start a family and she was getting being older

She's like Debbie's the one who paid for the trip basically and Debbie's boring no-one having an I'm not having any money the right always people just sitting around the lounge. Debbie's reading the brothers Karamazov Alad deck at night in the dark. But no Debbie has that encounter honor with the cat on the deck. And it's this total over-reaction why didn't she bring tolstoy onto a boat with her because she's wearing glasses in nineteen nineteen seventies movies which means to the elephant man ugly and she's really smart. This ultra exactly one prop changes your whole character. You know the cat shows up and like did she loses her Goddamn Mike mm-hmm and those red eyes are never got that made for TV movie..

"Time is things because he wanted to do some stuff at bananas. So my husband was gone, and then my kid has night classes. So he didn't come home he stayed and he went I think he went to the gym. And he went back and pick this kit picked his. They took his kid to dinner and the house to yourself all day all afternoon, I was alone. And. Well, I was hanging out with my sister-in-law. Oh, I wasn't alone. But she said she was gonna, you know, poking around the house, it all of a sudden my here the back gate open. That's how they get to our house, and I had the back gate open. And I look out the door and my brothers starts singing tag, gather nez, and he's got like a carafe of whatever booze. He's put together for the night because that's. Glasses. And I'm like, all right. I'm going to go out there, and he pours me like pineapple concoction pineapple vodka thing. And I'm like, hey, how about a game of cribbage, and we go in the house, and we're playing some cribbage and drinking the three, you know, just me, and John I and Debbie Debbie was over at the house. She was listing. She's she's doing work on my site. She's she does a family business. Unbelievable. She is I even had a dream the other night that they moved away. And I was able to close my shot down. Like, oh, thank God. I don't have to do this anymore. Well, finish your story. But we've got a job reports still to come right? Oh. Or you said he was the final interviews gig. He may get that gig. His he really wants this job up in Petaluma. So he's been doing work for them. And you know, so they pay him are related you these projects or whatever. And they love him and he loves them like he loved any loves Petaluma. Like, he's so he's like, we gotta go Petaluma go to dinner like every place. I go to is better than the last places. He's like freaking out. He loves Luma. Hey petaluma. And so he's you know, he drives up there almost every day. He's been doing tons of projects for them. And they're trying to figure out a way apparently to get them. So I guess cash who is his the woman who originally contacted are like she's he loves her. She loves this show. He's a huge Seren Vinnie fan. Nothing wrong with that at all. So so anyway, he'd come home from that. Or you know, I think he was there. I'm not sure. So it's four o'clock, and we're drinking day drinking, which they're such a bad influence on me. Like I have for years and years and years and years and years never had a drop to drink during the week. I just don't do it. Because anything that's going to make it harder for me to get up in the morning. Utterly reject. It's already hard enough. So then we're like, okay. Well, what are we going to do for dinner because it's just the three of us? Let's go get sushi and in John's hot sake, hot sake, hot sake sake. So he's chanting that as we walk over. And by the way, I'm already lit. You know, we've crossed the we actually.

"Shows like a super spectrum with a lot of hunger guys out there, giving it to rawal and trying to put on a good show for everybody, and you know, get that world title shot down lunch time. I'm looking forward to watching this event, not not all these guys or Indy wrestlers. Some of them are. And so just in my conversations, like with the Gregory is with George analysis, you know, I've always been a federation gab always been in a minor or major wrestling company, so I'm not real knowledgeable by the indie scene, but after talking, some guys have really kind of focused a lot of my time and effort into watching more stuff on YouTube and now give me room. Amen. Debbie Debbie that that's being that's more power to them. And that's, that's where I come from paid my dues and smaller veterans. So it's really refreshing to see a lot of these guys out there in these different diverse wrestling backgrounds and stuff like that. So I'm excited. I, I got a chance to watch these guys on YouTube and research them and see what they're bringing to the table. So I'm looking forward to watching the event just, you know, it's something is something different. I think you hit it right on the head. I think you've got a great talent. Roster some some great individual in tag team match ups, and you've got a lot of guys there that can work. There s often I'm looking forward to it. So tell me one more time court. I'm over here in west coast, California, when you watch it and where it's going to be at and plug the show live for the people tonight you'll be able to watch it July twenty seven next Friday. "A lot i want i that's a lot the process i want you to maybe just explain a little bit about this reduction in the balance sheet and whether we're going to get any more questionmarks prep positions commas mean what should be be looking for them what a people really need need to know question marks will be the most important thing with respect to balance sheet policy so the fed uh very successfully communicated uh that they were going to work will say a pull the ripcord on the balance sheet in it has a very organized step unwind strategy which they laid out well in advance talk about enough numbers behind just love uganda's stand a little bit about what's what is going to happen just to give us a refresh if you don't mind right so what every quarter uh they will basically increase the amount of assets running off both treasuries and mortgagebacked securities and then they'll la increase that so we're five consecutive quarters to basically unwind the balance sheet at a faster pace so the the real question in the minutes here because they did pull it off very smoothly is if there was any reservation from policymakers either that any sense of hesitant said that that was the appropriate time to start the unwind which i don't think we'll see that they all new yellen's term was coming to an end and that was the opportune time to do it but more importantly al focus on out what could potentially lead them to revisit the speed of the unwind debbie debbie's they really want this to operate in their words passively uh so in that glide path whether or not tinkering with the pace due to fluctuations in the economy nonetheless they said if things get bad enough they certainly could rein in that unwind unwinding cell was a little more exploration of that conditions under which they'd be willing to do that would be insightful curl a right now i'm looking at the implied expectation of december fed rate hike based on fed fund features and it's nearly eighty percent chance of a rate hike next say in december and i'm wondering from your perspective does it matter because prior rate hikes went off without a hitch and had a pretty muted effect on markets and the overall economy is this time differ well as we get closer and closer to the.
