"Absolutely. And by the way, check this one out. Real quick. This is my, this is my phone by my iPhone 13 with the whole cinematic mode, whatever. And so you know that the background when you get blurry on Zoom and it looks terrible. It's like a fake whatever they do. The edges of your head, whatever. I gotta tell you, this really does look, I really like how this looks. I wonder if I can affect how maybe it turned down the blur a little bit more, but anyway, thank you so much for that comment. And I also like it because it's a little bit lower. You know, my normal camera is like up this high, right? So it's always like higher and I'm looking up at you and I like this one where I'm a little bit like looking more straight at you. Anyway, what are we going to talk about? Well, you know, we've got to keep my eye on the time because we're going to get a little bit late in what I got to go soon. But what else can we talk about as you start to wrap this up? Coach Nick, we got to talk about you, man, because you brought all the smoke in your latest video. And you know, I don't even know if I want you to want to get into it because Twitter is a Twitter can be an awful place. Did you know that? Well, coach Nick, I mean, you had everybody's tweets up in the video. So what do you expect coach dick? You knew you were going to get a little feedback from that. Well, yeah, Jackson Frank, by the way, who wrote for B ball breakdown dot com back in the day. He got upset and I feel bad. I feel bad. I don't want him to be upset about it. But I also use the tweets that I use were all ones that got thousands of likes, right? And got a lot of traction. All of them being some sort of wolf. Look how awful Deandre Jordan was. How could you play in this and that, whatever. And it was weird that I was became the focus of slander because I tried to defend the player who got a lot of meritless slander. You know, in a way that maybe that maybe that is what is Twitter. That is Twitter, right? So in my attempt and by the way, people weren't coming at me, the bad people weren't coming at me because I put those tweets in the front of it. I don't think they were coming at me because they didn't like the take. They probably need to watch the video. So here's the thing. I saw, we all saw the plus minus in the net rating of Deandre Jordan in the 17 minutes he played in game one. And so I was like, oh, well, let's look at this. Let's find out. What did they do? It was so bad that led to an avalanche of scores and they couldn't score when he was out there. And you know what?.

"I mean, hardens the other is the other greatest heliocentric offensive player I think. I mean, obviously he has had his issues in the playoffs, but if we're just looking at overall as a heliocentric center of a team, he was so good for those rockets. Oh, now those teams are brutal. And then he conked out, and then he wouldn't be enough shit or whatever it is to be able to handle that load. And I agree. There's a real value to being able to generate easier shots, which is what the sun's offense does that for most of the game. So Booker, he's coming off those pin downs from the left block and having that office had been running for years for him. They're running horns, running pistol, they're running Spain pick and roll to no end. And so all these shots were easy. And then, okay, good the fourth quarter, Lucas talking crap to our plans. Okay, let's shut him up, basically, is what they wanted to do. And he was gasping for breath and just and the end of the game early early. And they have to be better. And they have to figure out a guard. The thing that is weird is that the Spain picking role, which is like the one I start with in the video, which I'll get to soon. I believe the Mavericks run it too. And yeah, but no one runs it like the suns. Fair enough. Oh, right. And the sun is disguised in a little bit. They'll do like a quick ball screen in the very beginning. And as kind of circling around in the basket and then he comes up to set the back screen. Really cool stuff. But even still, they're screwing up the switches that don't seem to know how they want to switch it. This is not Jason Kidd. They should know exactly how to do it. It should be the same way every time. And yet it's like different every time and no one seems to be able to communicate it properly. I guess you know what I should do is I should actually add that in the video explain exactly how you're supposed to defend it because it's not that hard, but you don't want to get into a complete mismatch on that center when he takes that back screen. So at any rate, that's a real problem. And obviously the Mavericks, I don't think they have a chance that maybe they win in one game in the series. I think it's four, but I could see it 5, but I think it's a sweep. I think a big part of it is that disguises, because I think because the Mavericks realize it's the Spain and royal too late, they haven't switched as they're supposed to or like whatever. I agree, it's on Jason Kidd, but it's also just like on the court very hard to recognize the way the sun suit. And they're so good at it. Yeah, fair enough combo. Anything you want to add? I mean, I think they've been running Spain pick a roll, Chris Paul, that is since the clipper days, right? Oh, you know, it's funny because it got really good for them for the suns when Chris Paul was injured in pain was doing it a lot. Wow. This call comes back. They didn't run it as much last year when I was doing all those breakdowns. But so I don't have, in my mind's eye, I can't picture them doing that. I remember, I remember Chris Paul like screening the screener and stuff. I don't know. Did the clippers have the knockdown shooter though? Because that's a big part of it. Like the Devin Booker spot. They had JJ. But it's weird. When it came to my attention around, what is it?.

"If he's claimed off of waivers, though, the Lakers are going to celebrate because then it doesn't look nearly as bad for the Lakers because the 76ers he's a veteran minimum of the 76ers will just assume that contract and the Lakers are off the hook. So if that's the case and maybe the Lakers caught wind of the 76ers are really looking for a bake and they might claim Deandre Jordan, maybe that was the impetus that caused the Lakers to say, yeah, let's do this then. Let's just wave him. Knowing that it's probably not going to cost us that much if the 76ers were really will use a waiver claim on them. Yeah, and I also think there's a part of this where, you know, we said a lot that, oh, they'll just attach some cash to Deandre Jordan and they'll pour them off at the deadline. Well, what if the teams that had the open roster spot said nah, we don't want cash. We want picks. We want a second round pick. The Lakers probably, you know, I don't want to give them too much credit, but they probably looked at it and said, well, if it's between eating the luxury tax on him by waving him or attaching a second round pick to get off of him, I'd rather hold on to the second round pick and eat the, you know, four or $5 million, whatever it is. That felt like what kind of went down and why it went this way. Yeah, I mean, if Philly claims him, great. That's best case scenario, right? And Philly will have gotten their guy that will have landed the big fish and Deandre Jordan, so good for them. Physically, big fish. That's what it is. He's actually, he's a big dude. So when we're looking at this with the Lakers, this whole situation, I could very well see where at the trade deadline, the Lakers, if they had the option of if teams and by the way, this has kind of been out there that a lot of the teams that had room wanted a lot for anybody who was going to use that room. So if the Lakers are staring down, do we part with the second round pick just in order to clear Deandre Jordan so that we can sign DJ Augustine. And I'm not going to disparage DJ Augustine here, but if is it worth a second round pick to go from Deandre Jordan to DJ Augustine? Probably not. Probably not. So that's where it makes sense from the Lakers standpoint to not do that to not try to clear up that roster spot. And now perhaps fortuitously, they heard, hey, the 76ers will indeed claim him so you go ahead and make that move. Now again, that's me speculating. I don't know if the Lakers actually heard that or not. I'm just saying if you connect the dots, it kind of makes some sense. Why suddenly this is happening. By the way, Deandre Jordan of course getting waived before the deadline, which is March 1st. Today now, before the deadline, which again makes him play off eligible. Had he been waved, say, march 2nd, then he would not be playoff eligible, which with whatever team signed him, which makes him much less desirable of a player to go inside..

"Can find me on Twitter at Trevor underscore lane or on Instagram at Trevor lane NBA. Got a lot to talk about today. We've got the Lakers actually making a move on the biome market. We've got fans Boeing at crypto dot com arena. I'm slowly getting used to saying that, but fans booing their Russell Westbrook reacting to it in a way that might make fans boo a little bit more. We'll talk a little bit about that. Plus we'll talk about the Lakers future and what that's going to look like moving forward as we prepare for. It's going to be a very eventful off season joining me today is veron government from Lakers nation dot com and the NBA front office show as well, which everyone should definitely go subscribe to. Run, welcome in. We've got a lot to talk about. It kind of cool that the Lakers actually made a move shortly before we sat down to record, which gives us even more to get into. Yeah, I don't know what this show would have looked like if they didn't make those two moves earlier today. I think it would have been I think it would have been pretty sad, just us for 30 minutes. Venting about how they can't beat the New Orleans pelicans at this point. So I don't know. This gives us something good to talk about. Is it something good? So they've waved Deandre Jordan and they are bringing it or they're going to bring in good. That's good. That's it. Good. They waved Deandre Jordan. Good. End of segment. Perfect. They waved Deandre Jordan. They're bringing in DJ Augustine. So we know that. There's also another move which I've yet to see it. So maybe you've seen it and I missed it. There are also bring in Wendy and Gabriel on a two way contract, but I've yet to see who they're waving in order to open up that two way contract, whether it's mason Jones, or a secret Dubois, but we'll get to that in a moment. Let's start with the bigger one here. DJ Augustine coming in, Deandre Jordan going out. What's your just surface level takeaway on that one? Surface level takeaway is I can't believe Deandre Jordan's going to get another shot in the NBA. I can't believe and for those who don't know the Philadelphia 76ers are, by the way, I laughed out loud when I saw this. Adrian will join tweeted the story link and the title was 76ers FrontRunner to land Deandre Jordan as if it's like as if it's a big free agent. The Brooklyn Nets landed Goran dragic. Deandre Jordan is going to stumble his way into the Philadelphia 76ers rotation. Like that, this is not a big moment for the sixers. I just can't believe he's getting another shot. It's nothing against him as a dude. He seems to be very well liked everywhere he goes. But I mean, he played yesterday. Or he played Sunday against the pelicans. He can't play anymore. He just can't play anymore. He threw a pass into the tenth row..

"They can. All right, we're going to do a few more, and then we will call it an evening. Somebody asking is Deandre Jordan signed already? No, not officially not yet. I think it's probably going to happen tomorrow, though. Brian is asking from YouTube. Can't wait. When is preseason, I believe I'll top my head first preseason game, I think is October 3rd. You guys can fact check me on that. But I believe it's October 3rd. Game one is October 19th. I'm already setting up my plans for that for the first game of the season, but October 3rd, I want to say is the first preseason game. And again, I'm sure the chat will fact. Check me there in case I'm off. It's the fourth or something like that. But I'm pretty sure it's the third. The training camp will start up in September though. Yep, I was right. It's the third. According to the chat. Somebody's asking, who is my second team? So my reserve unit. That's the problem, right? Because the Lakers do have so many talented players that it's hard to name a second unit because then it initially becomes, well, why isn't that guy part of the second unit? Because they have more than ten guys that we would like to see out on the floor. So I'm doing this off top of my head, but if my starters are Russ, bazemore, LeBron, AD, Dwight, if that's my starting unit, I guess my bench would wind up being none monk, THT. Mellow and Jordan, but then again, where's the reason? I already said he's part of my closing lineup. So that's the challenge, right? Is that you've got other players who should be playing? And I didn't even mention Ellington, right? Who's in there? There's other guys that should be getting minutes in there. But on top of my head, it would probably look something like that to combine some floor spacing with some defense and all the other things. And again, I didn't mention rondo either to handle the basketball as well. That's the problem, right? You name two different 5 man groups and no matter what, you're leaving out guys who can easily make an argument should be part of that second group. So that's what's gonna be fascinating. How does all this play out during training camp?.

"The bench guy. That's my take. Ashley Ralph said rondo and Howard played well together. I don't see Russ and Dwight not clicking. Yeah, look, that's the counterpoint, right? To me being concerned about the lack of three point shooting with Russ and Dwight on the floor together is that rondo and Dwight worked together. Part of that is rondo is really, really, really good at throwing lobs. And Dwight is really, really, really good at finishing loves. You know, who wasn't really good at throwing lobs? Then a schroder and that did not happen very often. But rondo's great at throwing them, I believe Russ can be good at that as well. Now Dwight Howard, I do think it's interesting, right? Dwight Howard Deandre Jordan, what do they provide? Law of threats. We're talking about what's called vertical spacing, okay? So we talk all the time about three point shooting. We talk about floor spacing, and essentially what you are trying to do with three point shooters is force the defense to get out of the paint, right? Force the defense out of the paint so that that opens up driving plates. But what a guy like Deandre Jordan, at least in his heyday, we'll see what he's got. What a guy like Dwight Howard can do. Is they create vertical spacing. In other words, there's such a threat to catch that lob and explode to the rim that they suck the defense in and open up kick out. So I'm talking about you again into a screen roll situation. Russell Westbrook drives Dwight Howard sets the screen Russ navigates that screen gets around Dwight is cutting to the basket. You're gonna draw the corner defender to come in to tag Dwight because they're gonna be so worried about that hammer dunk, and that's gonna open up the shooter in the corner. So it's vertical spacing. It's gravity, but in a different way than how we typically think of it. And that's something that the Lakers really valued. That's one of the benefits of getting a Deandre Jordan if he can still finish those lobs and then it's certainly the counterpoint again to my concern about the lack of three point shooting. If you can make Dwight a very consistent log thread if he's got that just kind of chemistry that tyreek hill Patrick Mahomes or Travis Kelce Patrick Mahomes, chemistry, where they've just got this mind meld and they can just get on the other end of these passes. That's where you can negate the lack of three point shooting in the half court if you can consistently get that lob thread at the rim. That's actually gonna open up shooters on the perimeter for you. So again, that's the counterpoint to my own.

"Somebody asks why have they announced the Deandre Jordan deal? It's a holiday. Flavor day. That's why. I really think it's that simple. Today's Labor Day. He has to officially clear waivers. I believe, and I don't quote me, but I believe league officers are close today. So I think it happens tomorrow. Marcus Frazier from Facebook, Trevor, do you believe AD will start at center this year and ariza and LeBron will be the two forwards? I think I don't think he's going to start there. I think he's going to play more minutes at center. But I don't think he's going to start at the center spot. I just think over the course of the entire season, the Lakers just saw what happens when AD breaks down when LeBron breaks down. They saw what happens in the playoffs. When that happens. And I know we've talked about ED playing more center, but I still think you hold that towards the end of the season for the playoff run. You can still give him more of his minutes at center, but I don't know that you starred him there. I think you still want somebody. You still want that buffer. Between AD and this full blown center minutes, banging against the other team's biggest stronger player night in and night out. And I think Dwight Howard can do that. I think Dwight Howard can do that. My only concern, though, with Dwight Howard starting is Russell Westbrook. You have two non shooters on the floor then in Russ and Dwight, although if you've seen the workout videos, bruss hit like 11 threes in a row in one of his recent workouts, he also dunked all over like his trainers and his trainers assistant in a video and was super fired up about it even though they looked like, I don't know, like high school players that he dunked on. But he was very fired up that he threw down this hammer dunk. Look, if Russ could somehow shoot league average from three, great, then that problem is certainly alleviated. But we're going to have to wait to see it. We're going to have to wait to see it actually happen. I'll also say NBA players as exciting as it is, oh my gosh, she made 11 threes in a row. That's great. But Dwight Howard hits the reason warm ups too. Like go watch. If you watch NBA players shoot around, like they rarely miss. When there's no defense, they rarely miss because this is just how ridiculously talented all of these guys are. Dwight Howard shoots threes as part of his warmup. Does he shoot very many threes in games? No. But he can hit him. So I don't fall in love with workout videos, just like, look, we've already seen footage of Ben Simmons, shooting threes and stuff in scrimmages. We've been seeing that for years. It doesn't mean he's suddenly going to start shooting threes. Just keep that in mind..

"I'm not a fan of seeing Marc Gasol go. I think his skill set is actually valuable for what the Lakers have right now in their roster in terms of a 5 that can shoot threes. But the silver lining is now they free up another roster spot. So maybe James Ennis still come on down. If Marc Gasol does indeed part ways where the Lakers, they can also hold that roster spot open in case somebody in training camp really impresses them. One of my favorites. Who knows? But the bottom line is that as of this moment, when Deandre Jordan signs, the Lakers are out of roster spots, assuming they stick with that plan of having 14 players and not 15. They have to have at least 14, sounds like that's going to be the plan, it makes all kinds of sense financially. It makes all kinds of sense in terms of having that spot open for the buyout market. So I do believe that's going to be the plan and if Marc Gasol does not leave if Marcus all stays, that means the Lakers roster is done. It's full. Until we get to the buyout market in March. Even if it's not officially because they will still have one open roster spot. Mob mentality from YouTube did ask if Gasol leaves willow roster spot be open. Yes, yeah. And that's what we were just just explaining there. Somebody said, hey Trevor, even if the Lakers get Deandre Jordan, they think they should get boogie cousins. No, look, if they already have a logjam with Gasol and Dwight and Deandre Jordan, it would be even worse with DeMarcus cousins. If Gasol lefty then bring in boogie, again, no, I don't see the point of having three true centers on the roster when Anthony Davis is going to get minutes at the center position anyway. I just don't see that. It doesn't make sense to me to go that route. I would focus on finding a wing player and I like boogie cousins. I really do. But I would like to see a wing be brought in because that's what I think is the biggest need for the Lakers. Kendall Schroeder from YouTube with a super chat. Thank you. I like our versatility, but do you see us playing any two way guys during resting games and against under 500 teams? Love the show, go Lakers. Hey, Kendall, thank you. Appreciate that. So any of the two way guys. So two ways we're talking about Austin Reeves and enjoy a yai as of this moment, although I will say, if you guys watch summer league, aya was not impressive. Now, I do want to kind of pump the brakes though and say it's very possible that he's just the kind of player that feeds off of playing with better players. Like he will look better playing with the Lakers than he would playing with the summer league team. That's entirely possible. So I want to kind of make sure that we put that out there for we pile on..

"Like, for example, opening night, how many minutes are we going to see, by the way, October 19th? How many minutes are we going to see Trevor ariza defending, say Andrew Wiggins? Who's, again, not their best player, but their best weighing score right now with Klay Thompson out. I think a reason is going to actually have to play a lot on Wiggins. Might get switched on a draymond a little bit. And that's because the Lakers don't have many guys that are of that size that can get out there and check people on the wing. So that's going to be the challenge for the Lakers this season and that's where I liked James Ennis as a target. We've seen him going around, commenting or liking the social media posts of fans, saying he should join the Lakers. But for whatever reason, has not happened yet. By the way, as of this moment, the Lakers, once they sign Deandre Jordan, that'll be 14. That's 14 players, and we've heard, they are not going to sign a 15th. And there's a reason for that. There's a few reasons for that actually. Number one, it would cost them a lot to sign that 15th because they were into the luxury tax, you're not talking about just, okay, we're signing that guy for a 2.6 ish $1 million veteran minimum. We're only gonna pay him 1.6 because the league actually pays for the rest of that. When you add in the luxury tax, you're talking about millions upon millions of dollars that you're paying in order to get that player. Now, we also know the Lakers are going to be a player on the buyout market. Okay, so come march. Players are going to start getting bought out and the Lakers are going to be one of the landing spots. So let's say you sign someone now to fill out 15th roster spot. And that player, you pay that player from now until March and you're paying the luxury tax on that contract and then somebody gets bought out that you really want. And then you have to turn around and just waive the guy that you signed to that 15th roster spot. And if the deal is guaranteed, you should probably would be, that means you're now paying that guy, the guy that you signed now for that 15th brasser spot, you're paying him all season, and then you're paying the rest of his contract because you wave him and then you have to sign the guy that got bought out and pay luxury taxes on that. That's where next thing you know. You're into 8 figures, terms of what it costs you to have a 15th man on your roster. That's where it gets to be too much, even for the Lakers. And so they say, okay, you know what? Let's just leave the 15 spot open. And then halfway through the season, when the buyout market hits, we're going to get a pro rated veteran minimum. Means we don't have to pay as much because as the season goes on, that figure gets prorated day by day by day. And so that's the plan right now. Leave that 15,000 spot open. So once Deandre Jordan signs, that's it. Unless Mark Gasol Mark Gasol goes and Davis painter perfect timing of the super chat from YouTube..

"If you go back and you look at the comments about Dwight Howard joining the Lakers when he did a couple of years ago, not even a couple of years ago a year and a half ago. When Dwight Howard joined the Lakers. A lot of the same concerns were held by pretty much everybody, right? About Dwight Howard as they are right now about Deandre Jordan in fact, you added character concerns with Dwight Howard. Now, I do think Dwight and the way it worked out so perfectly is more of an outlier. I don't think that's the norm. I don't think that's something that's going to happen every single time, but I'm saying, if we're looking at this from the well, it's going to happen. Let's try to find the silver lining. What is the glasses half full approach to this? That's it. That you're getting that center tandem again that you had a couple years ago. And this off season has been very much about putting the band back together, hasn't it? It's been about bringing back former Lakers. It's been about bringing back rondo bringing back Dwight Howard. The guys who won a championship with you. That's been a theme. And so you're bringing that familiar skill set back with Deandre Jordan. Was it the right move? Again, I still would prefer to go find a wing player. That was my priority. But from the Lakers side, that's the positive that they look at. Angel Torres from YouTube, but the superset super chat says truck driver watching right now. Thanks for helping keeping me up. You're welcome, but I hope you're not watching this while you're driving. Or at least just listen to the audio part of it because if you're on YouTube, that means you are, you are indeed watching the video here. All right, somebody said should have picked up Damien Jones. No, Damian Jones, he is under contract with the kings. So there was a $1.9 million team option on Damien Jones contract. And the assumption was the kings were going to decline that. But they surprised everybody and they picked it up. We thought they were declining it because they already had so many other centers. I mean, Marvin Bagley is probably more of a center than anything else right now. And then you've got Alex Lyon they had an interest in Thompson. They added other players too. So.

"Stuff happens and we go live and it'll be at kind of an odd time because we tend to jump on things right when news breaks. So make sure you are subscribed and turn on those notifications. Very important. And while you're at it, you might as well subscribe to the NBA front office show and turn on notifications there as well that show is growing like crazy. I'm so proud. We're about to hit 10,000 followers over there and Keith Smith and I just started up that show recently. So we've been having a lot of fun with that covering the entire NBA. But tonight, I want to start off with Deandre Jordan. Yeah, look, a lot of Lakers fans right now. Kinda on the fence at best at best about Deandre Jordan. I've got I put out the poll on Instagram. I put it up on the Lakers nation, Instagram account. I also put up a my Instagram account at at Trevor lane NBA. Asking whether people would rather have Damian Jones or Deandre Jordan. And Damian Jones on my account actually won on the Lakers nation account Deandre Jordan won because the Lakers according to Mark Stein wanted Damien Jones. Beginning of the summer, that was their plan. Was for Damian Jones to get well, have his option not picked up by the Sacramento Kings, and then they were going to bring them back. And didn't go the way they wanted it to. Sacramento picked up his option. Sacramento has, by the way, 5 centers, I believe on the roster right now crazy. But regardless, Sacramento picked up the option in the Lakers plan was foiled. Maybe Sacramento picked up the option just because they knew what the Lakers plan was. But regardless, the Lakers wanted Damian Jones. Instead, they're getting Deandre Jordan. And a lot of Lakers fans I've seen people making a lot of negative comments about this signing. And by the way, it's not officially done yet should be done any time now. You just have to clear way version remember today is a holiday. So in terms of getting business done, probably going to happen tomorrow. But anyway, Deandre Jordan coming to the Lakers. This is going to happen. And a lot of people are saying he's washed, right, based on what he did with the nets. He just doesn't have it anymore. And I think that's probably it's probably an honest assessment, right? When you look at what he provided last year for the nets, we think of Deandre Jordan in his prime. The best version of Deandre Jordan, just this lob threat at the rim and this great defensive presence blocking everything the nets were actually better defensively last season with Deandre Jordan.

DeAndre Jordan Intends to Sign With Los Angeles Lakers

"Let's shift some ears. Talk some basketball a monday morning. Because the veteran lakers about to get even more veteran e big men de'andre jordan intends to sign with the lakers after being traded and then bought out by the distance jordan would be the tenth laker h thirty two or older and six of those guys thirty five plus nick jordan on the same team. Never thought i'd see the day Do you like the lakers bringing in deandra jordan. Nice good line janna listen. We're still getting the edible arrangements in the sheri's berries my for apologies that were from the audience last week. But you can feel free to send more to me. And by the way if you're feeling generous include kenny atkinson who lost his job arguably because he saw what i saw in fall which is de'andre jordan's not great at the old basketball anymore and now the nets finally admitted as they say. Hey you can have deandre jordan in detroit says no. We don't want them feel like what did we include six million dollars. They're like us. Don't want what we include for. Second round picks like okay. We'll take him and then we'll ask him to leave and now the legs are gonna take them. So i i understand that folks probably expect me to say well with lebron on it. He'll be different exam while. I do believe that braun has the ability to get the most out of any and all teammates. He's played with for now. Eighteen plus years. There has to be something to be gotten and driving. This moves. the needle for the lakers. No

Los Angeles Lakers Could Fill out Roster With DeAndre Jordan

"Just give us a little on. What you think's going to happen with andre jordan was traded to the pistons. Everybody's yeah he's going to be out and that means he's going to be the next guy that the lakers will go get what do you say i think he is I think they're the most likely team to get him But there's just. I never say never with bio guys even because this is kind of been the rumor for three or four weeks at this point That this happened in brooklyn and it was just a matter of were they going to do the bio for him was he going to have to be traded. I if it say brooklyn a whole lot of money the fact that they they just save millions of dollars on their luxury tax bill by doing it this way. Also nicer de'andre like deandra got that because he was part of the kevin durant kyrie irving initial big three in in brooklyn and he was just. He's friends with all those guys. They played on team usa together and he was essential for them in signing with the nets. A little while back and it was a him signing that he gets paid twenty million a year that is not his market value. They overpaid for him. In the beginning as part of a like a sign let sign kevin durant and kyrie irving and it was you know finally worked out that way but at some point you make so much money and your they have a lot of guys at that position but they you know straight into detroit. They they They're going to do a buy out. He's going to give back a little bit of money. Detroit gets four second round out of it so they get something And also some other some other complicated salary cap things but we all thought lamarcus aldridge was going to miami. Last year on the market he ended up going to brooklyn so until he clears. Waivers and intel other teams have a chance to approach the andre. I wouldn't i wouldn't say it's likely or expected or anything like that. I would use much more. Vague words. you know. He fits with the lakers. He would fit in that role. I think would have a pretty well defined role and if you're on the buyout market and you're gonna sign for minimum like that's what you're looking for is someplace you can play.

"Don't have that. That was awful. There were so many games where we're doing the postgame show and we're talking about it. We're like, well, the Lakers won and overtime and the chat is angry so mad. And I was frustrated too. I was like, okay, they won, but how much damage did they just do to get a win over a team that they shouldn't have had to exert that much energy to beat? Yeah, that was frustrating. Let's not do that again. Sean mills with a super chat said, keep Gasol, but consider cousins, is he if he leaves, he's similar can deliver a hard foul and keep the pick and roll guy second guessing. So what do you think about that? DeMarcus cousins as if similar skill sets, if Gasol leaves, do you just call a boogie? If Gasol's leaving anyway, then that's an interesting option. Yeah. I wouldn't pick boogie cousins over Gasol because I just think they're very similar and Marc Gasol is just a little bit better. Marc Gasol's decline is due to age and DeMarcus cousins decline is due to the fact that he just was injured for like two years straight. And it's disappointing. I wish he could have stayed healthy because when he was a full strength, he was probably the best center in basketball. But injuries happen injuries durell careers and so I think at this point he's just not better than Marc Gasol. So there's no reason to replace one with the other, unless gazelle's already out. Agreed. Agreed. If Gasol is out and the Lakers are going, man, we really wanted a three point shooting big. Okay, boogie's probably the answer to that, right? But if that's not the case, I don't think you're going, hey, Mark, hit the road. We got boogie now. I don't see that playing out. Maverick from YouTube, the super chat said who will be the assist leader on the Lakers will be LeBron, rondo, Russell Westbrook. I'm going to eliminate rondo from that list. I don't think he's going to play enough minutes to be the assist leader. I don't see that happening. LeBron Westbrook, which one leads the team in assists. Westbrook. Okay. Just because just because they, when all the stories were coming out about how they put this trade together, the three of them, they put this together under the assumption that Russell Westbrook was playing the one. LeBron was going to start playing four more and Anthony diffs is going to start playing 5 more. So if they stick true to that, which I don't know if they will, because.

"A power forward. Which of those are you prioritizing, Braun, if you could pick one of those two things to add to this roster? Probably a wing because at this stage, Anthony Davis is going to play some power forward, of course. He's going to play a bulk of bulk minute amount of minutes of power forward. LeBron is going to play some power forward. That was the point of the Russell Westbrook condition was to shift LeBron to play some more power forward. And then you also have Carmelo who can play power forward at this stage in his career. He's no longer a small forward he's sort of a sort of an undersized four. So really, and then when you talk about wings, it's Trevor and Trevor risa and Trevor risa. So, I mean, LeBron. Yeah, but in the regular season, LeBron, he's made it pretty clear that he doesn't take those superstar matchups during the regular season he saves that for the playoffs, which all power to him, he absolutely should save it for the playoffs. But during the regular season, it's literally just Trevor ariza who's in charge of every wing superstar. And I don't necessarily love that because is it an upgrade over KCP? I don't know. KC's a better defender, but he's small. Yeah. It's fine, but I think they need one more guy that they can just reasonably throw at a wing superstar. Just one more person. So I mean, James Ennis has been going around liking all the posts on social media that have said he should be a Laker. I think he's making it pretty clear. He would like to get this spot. I mean, he's not like a lockdown, but there's no lockdown defenders out there. That guy does not exist right now. It's over. So, I mean, to me, to me, that's a no brainer. It's just a sign James. Unless the plan is just, we think somebody is getting bought out that people aren't anticipating. And so we're gonna hold this roster spot and see what happens. Okay, then I get that, but otherwise, I think James Ennis should be the pick to get that last roster spot. Yeah, James Dennis is, I think, like, 6, 7, two, 20, like that, fine. Like he's not a very good defender, but you're not getting any better at this point defensively with the players who were on the market. Go sign him, just throw them out there against opposing wings. I really think the priority with the one roster spot needs to be just another guy you can throw at wings. They have enough figs. They have, in my opinion, more than enough guards. More than half the roster is guards. So I just think one more wing would really help them to go a long way. Larry Wolfe, the second with the super chat from YouTube, so what do you guys think about Frank nila kina? They just don't need that. They just don't need what he would bring at this. They've got so many guards on the roster as it is. But you mentioned a wing, they cut Alfonso McKinney. I mean, should they have just hung on to him just because he at least fits with the size, the athleticism to potentially be able to defend some of these wing players at least competently. It's not like you're taking a guy who's 6 two when saying, hey, go defend Paul George or something like that..

"No, I think he absolutely can and will contribute to this Lakers team. I think we saw it in Portland. We saw the blueprint for how he's going to contribute. But I think because he's got the big name, he gets a little bit overhyped where people are expecting him to do these big things. Temper those expectations. If he scores in the double digits, I will be very happy, right? If he gives you ten points a game, even if it's just ten on the nose. I'd be pretty happy as long as it's efficiently. I think we have to focus more on just his efficiency. The fact that he can come in, be a scoring threat, don't assume he's going to come in, scoring 20 points per night or doing anything on the defensive end of the floor. Yes, he's got a big name, but he's 37 years old. He has made that transition to becoming a role player. And I think we have to make sure that we see him through that lens. He's a role player now at this point in his career. He's not your go to guy. I think you can give him the ball in crunch time in certain situations. If you can generate an open look, he can knock those down, but he's no longer the guy where you say the offense is in trouble. Here's the ball, you go figure it out. That's not his ideal role anymore. Yeah, it's the same way we talked about Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo in 2019, 2020, where when they came to the Lakers, it was, hey, these are big names. They are not the players they were anymore. They can still provide an impact, and here's the blueprint to do that. But don't expect that they are who they used to be. Because they're not. And that's okay. Guys slip, you know, lose a little lose a step here and there all the time. Carmelo is still going to be a pretty impactful player for the team, but he's not going to be Carmelo Anthony. All right, so I've got a lot of people that are on our chat right now talking about Mark Gasol. So let's dive into the right now, right? Most of the roster is set. However, there have been lingering rumors stemming from a couple of weeks ago, Mark Stein mentioned that Marc Gasol might still leave the Lakers. And then the whole Deandre Jordan thing popped up and now the nets suddenly have Millsap, potentially Aldridge. It seems like the Andre Jordan's on the way out the door. So where do you stand Ron on the Deandre Jordan versus Marc Gasol debate? Because it feels like you're probably not going to have both. I guess I'll let you respond. Do you think they could just keep all of them? Keep white, bringing Jordan and keep cassol?.

"You and I, Ron, we were both talking about how we were a little bit nervous. Like if we said that the nets should be, that that's right now are the betting favorite in Vegas. If we said the nets should be the betting favorite, would that would Lakers nation look upon that when an unkind way? Would they not be too thrilled with that? As it turns out, most of the responses that I got were that we didn't spend enough time talking about Carmelo Anthony and the impact Carmelo Anthony can have coming off the Lakers bench so I said, okay, okay. I was not expecting that response. But let's go ahead and write that wrong. Let's talk a little Carmelo Anthony. What kind of an impact are you expecting from him? I've had some Lakers fans. I think this is a bit overzealous. I've had some suggesting he could be in the starting lineup , but what do you see happening with Melo? Look, Carmelo Anthony, since he signed with Portland two seasons ago, he's kind of been the same guy. And this is a guy that can score. He can get you can get you very quick bucket on the offensive end. He can score from three at a pretty, pretty reasonable percentage he had over 40% this past season. He can score at all three phases. He's not quite as quick as he used to be, but he can still rise up and get those buckets. Defensively, he's providing you less than he ever has, and he never really provided all that much. He was never an all defensive caliber guy. And he slipped on that end too. So defensively, what he's providing, in Portland, when he provided was just being 6 foot 8, 6 foot 9, like he just provided being tall. And so the Lakers could use that because, you know, you can never have enough wing defense in the NBA. So carmella Anthony can certainly provide being tall, but he's not going to provide significant defensive reinforcement, but he will provide someone you can safely put on a basketball court offensively and they can kind of do their own thing and you know they're not going to run your offense into the ground. The way we've had some players on the Lakers in the past few years where if they were on the court by themselves, the offense kind of plummeted. Yeah, then that's just it. Like Carmelo Anthony, he's a guy you can put into the game and he can get you a bucket. Ten years from now. Carmelo Anthony, you can put him in a game and he can get you a bucket shooting doesn't tend to slip quite the way some of the other things do. So Carmelo Anthony, you know he can score. He's going to be doing it ten years from now in the YMCA. He's going to be putting up buckets, right? This is what he does. And I think it's so appropriate that Carmelo Anthony comes to the Lakers finally. After almost a decade of these two, you know, these two entities, right? The Lakers in carmela Anthony, like circling each other. He comes to the Lakers when Kyle Kuzma is on his way out. Because that was always our thing with mella was, well, Kyle Kuzma already kind of has the role that you would want for Carmelo Anthony. That's being your reserve power forward, come in and get you buckets, right? That was the ideal Kyle Kuzma roll in our minds. And now that Kuzma is gone, I think mello can fill that role very, very well. I think he's a guy that can come in that can score with the second unit. You look at the bench unit for the Lakers. Let's say Rajon Rondo was in there. Great, right?.

"How are you doing, man? Doing good. Yep, just getting through the NBA off season anyway we can football's about to start, which is obviously a big help, but yeah, we're just trying to get through it and get to these games. That's right. And it's not that far away. I mean, we're talking, not even months anymore. We're talking weeks. We are weeks away from the start of the NBA season where one week away from the start of the NFL season today. So we've got some good stuff coming up and I'm excited about that. I can't wait to see these Lakers take the floor. I posted to my Instagram account, which guys can go follow at Trevor lane NBA. Earlier today, a picture of Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook. And it's from an All-Star Game but AD's got his arm around Russ and it just, I came across the picture and I thought, man, I can't wait to see the Russell Westbrook Anthony Davis pick and roll. Like, I'm sure there's going to be some bumps in the road, but that might be the most exciting new thing that I'm looking forward to seeing on the offensive end of the floor. Yeah, Russell Westbrook has a history of just like unlocking big men and he's done it with a lot less talented players than AD. I mean, Steven Adams, you know, he was almost an alt like he was in the all star discussion like two years because of Russell Westbrook. He has an ability to unlock guys, clink capella got a huge contract because of because partially because of what Russell Westbrook did form. These guys really get unlocked with Russ Westbrook and I think Anthony Davis is just another guy that can get to a next level, but he's already starting from a top 7 player in basketball level. So that's really exciting. We talked about this earlier when we did a video about Anthony Davis and him being frustrated with Dennis Schroeder. What's the over under? How long is it gonna take for Russell Westbrook to break Dennis Schroeder's record in terms of lobs thrown to Anthony Davis? I've said it a lot. One quarter. One quarter because it was one. He had won. Last season, one lob the whole season. I think Russell Westbrook and AD are going to get that within the first few minutes. And I think they're going to break it within the first quarter. I would not surprise me, would not surprise me at all Dennis Schurter for whatever reason just did not like throwing that lob to Anthony Davis and AD was not too thrilled about that. Hey, apparently. Yeah, I guess. I guess. So, you know what? We did a video earlier. We talked about Lakers versus nets. And the nets it looks like they're going to get Lamarcus Aldridge, who's, by the way, that's a fantastic story that he's able to come back. I hope he can do it safely and then he is fully cleared that sounds like that's the way this is heading. But the nets getting Lamarcus Aldridge and of course getting Paul Millsap, we found out about that earlier today as well. And we did this whole breakdown and going into it..

I was company is improving the efficiency the safety the health and the environmental impact of his beyond meat. Production and the benefits are huge. We know that the average consumer even those who eat animal meat are aware and very concerned about these health and social issues. As Ethan says I believe there is a new dawn for American agriculture. And this conversation is our awakening our in fact just last week. Jim Cramer the host of mad money on. Cnbc said that beyond meat is a small company but so Amazon so was facebook and so was Google and then he goes on to say and I quote. It's all going beyond meets way and what is beyond me doing. They're cutting prices. I think the pandemic is saying start eating plant based Kramer continues to go on to say that the rising demand for plant based protein will not be a passing fad and that. Ethan Brown all right here. We are season two of the the plant. Strong podcast I am here with Ethan Brown. The CEO of beyond me. And I want you to know and I'm at World Headquarters for beyond me. Where exactly are we? So we're going to California el Segundo AB- like what two miles from the airport? Exactly yeah I mean it was the most. This is the easiest drive ever made from the airport and season to just so you know the whole theme is heart of a hero and we're really trying to identify People that are changing the game and and that's who were having an inviting on season two of the Pike Aston. You probably more than just about anybody. I know are changing the game in a multitude of ways and I and I wanna get into that so you are truly a game changer. Speaking of the game game changers. Have you seen the movie I have in before I even get into that? I mean I just WanNa share on August the impact you and your family out on my own life and just how much a fan of yours and incredibly sincere. I've watched forks over knives yet more times than I can count Shared it with more people than I can count And you don't want. We got a chance to connect few years back. It was a terrific thing for me. No I've been a big fan of yours for a long time to be here being everybody. You surreal well. I I'm flattered. Thank you and so in the game changers. You saw it. Did you like it. I love that movie. Yes in fact. You're so intimately viable that but I'm having to stop myself showing you a clip. Because it's almost every time someone comes to my office injured in this subject. But of course that would be lost on you because you set the record for most I think most downloaded most downloads of a documentary ever and they broke it in a little over a week. It's remarkable and it resonates so strongly with me for so many of the reasons that it also resonates with you of course But even as somebody's building business it was really important for me to see this You know growing up we were very much exposed to the got milk campaign. I mean that was something that was a big part of culture and and maybe less so today but you know the use of athletes to promote a particular type of animal-based protein with something the California Milk Board. Did you know very well And and that was something that because of my own background and interest in the milk industry. My family was doing I paid a lot of to the got milk campaign with came time for me to start my own company I. She hired the original sponsor of that campaign. I'm Jeff Manning on the California Milk Board. He had left since you grew up on a dairy farm. I grew up in the city. Okay on my dad's a professor and we He he didn't like being in the city and so he wanted to have a place to recreate because he grew up in the country and so got a farm Very early on in my childhood and he's kind of entrepreneurial so ultimately we get wholesale cattle there Dairy but but he rate so To went back and found the person who who wrote the original mandate for the got milk campaign of someone named Jeff Manning on the California Milk Board and that led to that campaign with milk mustache. And you know Bo Jackson Derek. Jeter et CETERA. And so I asked him to come work with me so we were together for a number of years creating the future protein campaign that we have here on the go beyond campaign and it's been been remarkable woman named Beth. Moskowitz has brought in more athletes. I can count Really remarkable career having or you know deandre Jordan Deandre Hopkins Chris Paul. They are now getting behind the idea. That a plant based Diet is the best performance and so game changers just nails that yeah and and there's a scene in there with the Tennessee. Titans football players and chastity. Morgan yes is cooking. I think some burgers on a grill. Those beyond Meat Burger. Yes we love the the Morgan's and all they're doing and I think that's just a great story and you're seeing that Clifford throughout the NFL particularly NBA. Where lightness quickness is so important you seeing so many. Nba Athletes turn to a plant based Diet for no other reason improve the performance. They also love the social aspect of it. They love the disruptive Challenger. Let's let's not do things the way we used to do. Let's bring something forward in this. World is a little better for for their kids. The challenge the status quo.
