We're gonna do million dollar picks. And then old friend Seth Meyers talking about a whole bunch of stuff. So really good podcast. It's all next. First, our friends from Pro Jam. What's up? All right, I'm taping this on Thursday afternoon. Normally when there's a big MBA trade, I always do the emergency trade reaction right after the podcast. But we just put up a podcast on Tuesday. So I decided to play it a little differently this time. I wanted a little distance, I wanted to listen to stuff, read stuff, and try to form some big picture opinions coming out of this. So I have four smaller ones, then one big one. First one, I thought Portland did an incredible job with this trade. I really liked this trade, especially everyone was trying to bully them in June and July about, oh, you got to take Miami's offer. You just got to. It's where he wants to go. It's the only offer you're going to get. And guess what? They waited. They played it perfectly. They stared Miami down, and they got a much better deal. First of all, they get the Drew Holiday piece that they can flip into a bunch out of their stuff, which we'll talk about in one second. I love the DeAndre Ayton gamble. As you know, on this podcast, I am a big DeAndre Ayton guy. Not in the sense of I'm the biggest fan of his in the world, but I'm a fan of the asset. I just think I love the valued assets, no matter what it is. Whatever market we're talking about, DeAndre Ayton, 18 and 10 for his career, 60 % field goals percentage, 25 years old. He's played in 45 playoff games. He played four rounds in the 2021 finals. Last year, he got his ass kicked by Jokic. Oh, sorry. Like, that never happens. And Phoenix just sold on him, which I can't wait to talk about. But just from a Portland standpoint, they not only get Ayton in whatever they get for holiday, they get the 29 first, they get the two swaps, and they dump Nurkic. Nurkic hasn't had a healthy start to finish all the way through the playoffs here since 2018, which I'm positive was a long time ago. He's basically 12 and 8. He's, you know, a 50 % shooter. I made a list of the top 30 centers. I encourage you to do this at home, because what's more fun than making lists of NBA centers? I can't imagine anything. I made a list of who I thought were the best assets of the center position for talent, contract, everything. He was 29th on my list. The only person I had ahead of him who's technically a starter, unless you start talking about the Detroit or Charlotte guys, was Zubats on the Clippers. I thought he was the 29th best center asset in the league. And Phoenix, you know, just quickly to go to them, they're trying to win this year. They got worse. They turned Ayton's money into Nurkic and Grayson Allen and Nasir Little. Grayson Allen, we already know with him, he can't play in playoff series. We saw him 22. We saw it last year. I heard and read in some places like that, I got two rotation players. Did they? Is Nurkic a playoff rotation player? Is Grayson Allen a playoff rotation player? Because I'm positive he's not. So for the same money that they were spending on Ayton, they got three guys that I don't think are going to help them. In 25, the money comes down a little bit to 23 million just for Nurkic and Little, which is 7 million less than Ayton. And then in 26, that money goes up to 25 .5. But I don't understand what Phoenix was doing. Why not wait to see if Ayton clicks with Vogel? Vogel has such a good history with centers. He rejuvenated Dwight Howard on the 2020 Lakers. He basically created Roy Hibbert's career in 2013 with the defense verticality thing. I thought he was going to do a good job with Ayton. I'm stunned that they gave up on him. I'm almost waiting for one of those, now they tell us stories when, you know, that's where Brian Curtis calls them, where like a week after something happens, there's this kind of notebook dump where it's like, here's seven terrible DeAndre Ayton stories. So maybe that'll happen. But for Phoenix just to be like, cool, we locked this down, man. We got Nurkic. You're trying to win the title. You have KD and Booker and Beal. And like, what are you guys doing? Anyway, from Portland's standpoint, I love the Ayton thing. I love that they didn't get bullied. And I know they're going to turn Drew Holliday into something. So this to me was at least an A minus for them, for where they were two months ago, where Dave's like, I want to go to Miami. That's it. And if you don't trade me there, that's kind of fucked up. And they made this work as it got reported that, uh, I think in the athletic, that he expanded his list to Brooklyn and to Milwaukee in the last two weeks. And that's what Portland was waiting on. You know, they were banking on the fact that he's a competitive dude. He's one of the best 75 pairs ever. He wanted a situation settled. So, you know, you wait, you wait, you wait, they expand the list and then you go. Uh, there's a Drew Holliday piece to this. That's awesome. He becomes a contender prize. I wouldn't call this a Drew Holliday sweepstakes. I reserved sweepstakes for the superstars, but it's a mini sweepstakes. This is somebody that could have a huge impact on the playoff race. You know, not only the usual suspects, everybody's talking about Boston, ironically, Miami is a really good fit for him. And in some ways, um, I'm a little more scared of them with Miami than Dame in some ways, especially at a much cheaper contract with giving up less and keeping some of their assets. Philly, if they could pull it off, they have to be in there in Golden State, Minnesota. I think I have to mention Sacramento, I think is a team that if they could figure out how to get Drew without giving up their core, which is basically Keegan Murray and Sabonis and Fox, like that's, you know, could Davion Mitchell be in that trade with some, with a salary and some picks, who knows. The team that I love for Drew Holliday is OKC. I have OKC, you know, I started doing my MBA research for the over -under spot and I haven't landed on a number for them yet, but to me, they feel like a high forties team with Chet and with the growth of their young guys. And if you just like, let's say they traded Lou Dort and a bunch of their picks, maybe two firsts and two of their lesser picks or three firsts and a second, whatever it is. And they just say, fuck it. And they get Drew and you put him with Giddy and SGA and Jalen fucking awesome Williams and Chet Holmgren and all these other dudes they have, that might be a top three team in the West. I mean, that, that's starting to give me some early 2010s OKC vibes. So where he goes is going to be important. I just feel like there was so much Drew Holliday slander the last couple of days. You know, he's one of my favorite players. Even Haralabob, who was the chairman of the board of the Drew Holliday fan club for years and would have the benefit dinners there and, you know, just did a lot of yeoman's work on that front. And even he was like, yeah, yeah, Dame's better than Drew. That trade makes sense for Milwaukee. I was hurt, Haralabob. I was 100 % hurt by that. But you know, Drew got his ass kicked by Jimmy Butler in the playoffs last year. I get it. It happens. Jimmy was unbelievable. I feel like he would have kicked anybody's ass. By the way, why is Drew Holliday guarding Jimmy Butler? That speaks more to some of the issues with Milwaukee. He was never supposed to be a point guard and a creator. I think he was always better as an off -the -ball guy. We saw that with Rondo and New Orleans and just in general. I want to see him with a point guard. I want to see him just being unleashed, not having the ball a lot, just worrying about hitting threes, being an occasional, you know, make -shit -happen guy and being like the third or fourth best guy on a team without having the offensive responsibility to have. All their half court issues got blamed on him for the last couple of years. And I get it. They weren't like an awesome half -court team, even the other one in the finals, but I really value that dude. I had him, even I did the trade value list in August and I had him 37th and I had Dame 23rd. I think he's one of the best 30 players in the league still. He's 33 years old, which, you know, I'm going to talk in a second about when guards hit their mid -30s, but just in general, I think he's a real asset. If he goes to a team like the Celtics and they can keep Derek White and Tatum and Brown in the center, it's like, look out, man. So little mini sweepstakes, rarely do we get the trade, but then we still get another asset to talk about. Thank you for everyone involved in the trade. And then the fourth small point is just that, you know, not rocket science, Milwaukee bought some Giannis time here. They have one of the best 20 players of all time. They were staring down the barrel of a situation that was not good. I was talking about it on this podcast in late June and early July. I thought he was going to put them on the clock. I thought Mark Lasry selling his stake was a really bad sign for all of this because that dude is smart. As I laid out in June, that guy is really smart. And if he's feeling like, you know what, it's time for me to sell my buck stock, that makes me nervous. And then all the stuff that Giannis said and did, which I thought he did really fairly and really smartly. And I think that dude's about titles and that's it. And I know we say that about players, but I think in his case, I don't think he cares about, you know, what's my legacy, how do I compare against Dirk DeWhisky, any of that stuff. I just think he wants more rings. I mean, think about the guys who have won two rings out of the best 35 guys on my list of my pyramid. Those are all guys in my top 35 that won multiple wings. You go to the one -ring side, Jerry West, Oscar, Moses, Dirk, Jokic, Giannis, Pettit, Garnett, Kawhi, Rick Barry. That's the list he's on now. I certainly don't think he's looking at that list going, I got to get away from these guys, but it's a slightly different list. I think when you win multiple rings in multiple situations, it elevates you in a certain way. I think he fundamentally understands that at least a little bit. I want to be the best player since LeBron James. I think that's a thing that he wants. How am I going to do that? I need more rings. I need more finals trips. He knew from last year and maybe even the Boston series that they just weren't good enough. Whether this trade is going to be the thing that propels them, we'll find out, but he's been in the league 10 years, two MVPs, five first teams, two second teams, and now we have this little two -year window. Kawhi and the Raptors was a one -year window. This is a two -year window, I feel like. With Giannis, he's got two years left in his deals. So does Lopez. Middleton has two in a player option. Dame's got two, and then this crazy $120 million player option extension thingy that he has that just keeps going and going. It's probably two years. There's a world where this could go terribly this season, at least for what the expectations are, and then maybe it becomes Kawhi, Raptors. Maybe Giannis is like, you know what? That didn't work. Trade me. And the Bucks, who have no picks left and no future, they look at it next summer, and they go, all right. We tried it. Giannis, what can we get for you? Dame, what can we get? And they just do a reboot, rehaul. Remember, they won in 2021, which just takes so much pressure out of this. It's so much different than the Clippers situation, where they went all in on Kawhi and Paul George. They give up all those picks and SGA, and they've gotten nothing out of it. They haven't even made the finals. So it's got to happen. I think they at least probably have to make the finals. If they get bounced in round two, do I think Giannis is going to stay because they made this Dame -Mower trade? Probably not. So that leads to the big question, is how good of a trade was this? So there's a big picture angle on Dame, and it's going to sound negative, but I really don't want it to sound negative because I think Dame, I voted for him for NBA Top 75. I think he's been one of the best guards in the last 15 years. I think there's a ton of great things you can say, and there's a chance that he goes to Milwaukee, and this thing is fucking awesome. I know any Celtic fan I've talked to, including Isaiah, who's helping produce this podcast today, the Giannis -Dame pick and roll is just terrifying. Other than Jokic and Murray, it's going to be the single most unstoppable offensive play in the league. It is. We are conceding that point. The spot Dame is in right now, big picture -wise, it's weird. He's a superstar, but he's not, and we've seen guys like this before. I judge superstars by, do you have the resume statistically, and is your team succeeding consistently at a certain level? You can't totally say that about Dame. He's never been on a 55 -win team. He's missed the playoffs completely four times in 11 years. He said three first -round exits. He made the Final Four once in 2019, which was really lucky because Golden State and Houston were the two best teams, and then they got smoked. He's never been on a true contender ever. Instinctively, you go, well, that's not his fault. Who's he played with? Well, he played with LaMarcus Aldridge and CJ McCollum and a couple other guys, but not really anybody. The reason I'm putting this up is there's a success element that he has not had yet that for somebody with his resume is actually kind of unusual. I went and I looked up how many guards in the history of the league averaged 22 points a game for their career and played at least 700 games. I thought the list would be like 20. I didn't know. I didn't know what I was walking into. Only I think 75 guys have averaged 22 a game. So I went and I looked up the list, and it was 10 guys, 700 games, 22 a game for their career. There were some guys who came close like David Thompson, who I think is one of the best guards I've seen in the last 45 years, but had a short career and had some drug issues. He didn't make it. He didn't play enough games. Pete Maravich, 24 .2 points a game, but he didn't play enough games. Kyrie hasn't played enough games yet. Bradley Beale is five games away. I'm actually kind of glad the cutoff's at 700 so we don't have to talk about him. And then Mitchell and Trey Young aren't there yet. There's only 10 guys that made it, and the 10 guys are all fucking awesome. And again, I mentioned this in the context of Dame, who we think he is versus the success he's had. So the 10 guys, Michael Jordan, 30 .1, Jerry West, 27 .1, Allen Averson, 26 .7, George Gervin, 26 .2, Oscar Robertson, 25 .7, Kobe, 25 .0, Harden, 24 .7, Curry, 24 .6, Wade, 22, barely made it, and Russ, 22 .4, and then Dame is at 25 again. All right, what does he not have that those other guys have? Well, MJ, don't need to talk about him. Don't need to talk about Jerry West, who's the freaking logo. Allen Averson, pretty good comparison, right? Big stats, really memorable player, but not a ton of success. Here's the difference. Averson made the finals once. He won an MVP. Dame has done neither of those things. George Gervin was the best scoring guard of the 70s. He made two final fours. He had some bad luck. He really, in 79, really should have came close. And some of it's on him, right? He could have come through. Bobby Dandridge is the one that ended up coming through for the Bullets. They lose. But two final fours, he had four top five MVP finishes, five first teams, four second teams. He was just unassailably the best guard in the league until MJ. Oscar Robertson, don't need to go through him, but he won a ring and an MVP. Kobe, five rings and an MVP. Eleven first teams for Kobe, by the way. James Harden, three final fours, an MVP, six top five MVP finishes, six first team MBAs. And even though Harden has never made the finals as the best guy, he made it with OKC as the sixth man, you could build a contender around Harden. We saw it. We haven't really seen it with Dame. I think that's a fair thing to bring up. Curry, four rings, two MVPs, you know, the Curry thing. Dwayne Wade, three rings, two top five MVPs, two first teams, three second teams. He's more in the Dame waters a little bit, but he had the 2006 finals and he was the second best guy with LeBron on those heat teams. And then Westbrook, who you would say, well, Dame had a better career than Westbrook. Did he? Westbrook made the finals in 2012. He was second best guy on that team. Almost made the finals in 2016. He won an MVP. He had two first teams and five second teams. It's at least like a real argument. And I think when you look at Dame, he only had that one 2019 round three, got bounced. He's only had one top five MVP finish. He's only had one first team MBA and four second team MBAs. Really, really good top 75 career. But the piece that's missing is, have you been on a really good team? Have you made a real run at it? Which is why, you know, I think this Milwaukee trade is so much fun. This is his real chance. I get nervous about a couple things with this trade. One is that, you know, if you look at the 33 and older guards who average 22 points a game in a season. Jordan did it twice. Curry did it twice. Still going. Kobe did it three times. Jerry West twice. Sam Jones once. Hal Greer once. That's the entire list. Now the NBA is different. We have more three -pointers now. It's easier to score. Scoring is the easiest it's ever been. Guys can play at a longer age. So I'm not ruling out Dane being good for the next three years. But just pointing out, history is saying, be a little nervous. In general with guards, like Chris Paul, we saw from age 35 to 36 to 37, like it just dropped. But that's two years older than Dane. Maybe it's fine. I just worry about guards. We have not a lot of instances with guards in their mid -30s of them either peaking as players or being able to sustain whatever success they had during their prime. It always starts to go down with really no exceptions, except for Steph Curry. He's the only non -exception. So if your case is Dane's as good as Steph Curry, or Dane can be as potent as Steph Curry on a winning team, like, you know, Steph Curry is better than Dane, but I'm not going to argue that he couldn't do a lot of the stuff that Curry did in Golden State. The bigger issue for me, the age I'm definitely worried about. Dane has not been healthy the last couple of years, and we have not seen him play nine straight months at playoff basketball with a big bullseye on his back. Everybody coming after you, you're the best team. We haven't seen him do that ever, much less than the last couple of seasons. So can he stay up? Can he stay healthy? That's one thing. The defense with Dane just got kind of swept under the rug the last couple days, and I don't really understand it because there's five categories of defensive player I feel like. There's excellent, there's good, there's average, there's not so good, and then there's bad. And I think Dane's a bad defender. I think the stats back it up. Like, his defensive rating last year was 245 out of the guards. He's the 245th guard for defensive rating. You know, 117 .4 individual defensive rating is 483 overall. Portland's team's always defensively, it was the Achilles heel for them. Partly because of Dane, because he couldn't guard anybody. He's too small. And, you know, think about what we saw from the playoffs the last couple years. I think about the 2020 bubble Celtics playoffs, not infrequently, because I think that team had a chance to potentially win a title. What happened? Everyone hunted Kemba Walker. It was hunting season. It's like, where is he? Got to get a switch. Got to get Kemba Walker guarding somebody who's bigger, or got to beat him off the dribble, and it just became a hunt session with him. And basically, he got played out of the league. He's not in the league anymore. You know, we had this with Isaiah Thomas, too, in the mid -2010s. I think it's been an issue with Kyrie Irving. The Celtics certainly went at him in the playoff series with Brooklyn a couple years ago. Curry, you saw, who I think is a better defender than people give him credit for, but the And he's a much better defender than Dame is. Jordan Poole is somebody that got hunted in playoff series recently. Chris Paul, obviously, is a big one. Jalen Brunson, remember what the Heat did to him? Mitchell, when he was on Utah, this was a huge issue. And then Trae Young, obviously. My fear with Dame is he's a DH, and I think in Portland, part of the reasons he was able to put up the stats he did was because he wasn't playing defense, right? It was just, how many points can I score? My team isn't very good, and I'm just going to do my thing. He's an incredible offensive player. But how much of a trade -off is the defense, right? Well, you think, all right, well, Milwaukee, they're really good defensively. They'll be able to protect him. Here's the team. Giannis, Dame, Lopez, Portis, Middleton, Conaton, Beauchamp, Crowder. Who's guarding Trae Young on this team? Who's guarding Jason Tatum? Here's a partial list of guys that I don't think this team will be able to guard this season. Devin Booker, Tatum, Butler, Trae Young, Kyrie, Curry. Who's going to be chasing Curry around the screens? Dame lowered? Good luck. SGA, Luca, Mitchell, Murray, Edwards, Brunson, Ja, Garland, Fox, Halburn. Are they going to be able to cover Derek White? I don't know. The way this team is constructed, they are not going to have the ability to guard other guards at all, which means they're just going to have to be in a shooting match with them, right? It's going to be not much different than what's going to happen with Phoenix, where they're just literally going to have to outscore the other team. I've just watched too much playoff basketball over the last couple years, where it's like, if you have that weak link on defense, and you're playing a team that's smart enough, they're going to go after that weak link. Like, think about them against the Lakers, right? The Lakers figure their crunch time. Let's say they make the finals. It's Milwaukee and the Lakers, and Lakers crunch time. They're going to have LeBron and Davis and Austin Reeves and, I don't know, a shooter and a point guard, whatever. All they're going to be doing is trying to find where Dame is on the court and going after him. What about when they play Boston? Boston puts out White and Brogdon and Tatum and Brown and a center, and all they're going to be doing is trying to make sure Dame is covering somebody who has the ball who's now torturing him. I think it's a real problem for them. And what's funny is they gave up Drew's defense and, you know, they, what they gave up on defense, which is significant, and they gained an offense, it might end up just being a wash and they might just be a different version of the same team where they still have a huge flaw. It's just on the other end of the court. I'm just shocked that nobody brought up the defense. I agree he's an amazing offensive player and what's cool about this trade and what I'm excited about as a basketball fan is, can he go up a level? Right? A lot of these stats he put up, especially the last couple years. They didn't mean anything. They were, he was on bad teams. Like, who cares? Ultimately, Bradley Beal scored 30 points a game on the Wizards. Who cares? I think most really good offensive players, if they're on a bad team, can get between 25 and 30 a night. Can you do it nine months in a row? Can you do it when you're getting hunted on defense all over the place? How much can Milwaukee protect him? And what does he have in the tank at age 33 with 900 plus games on the O 'Dominor already? I'm still afraid of the Bucks, but people have, like, FanDuel had them as best odds in basketball and I think most people feel like they're the favorite now. I don't feel like there's a favorite. I think you can go through every team. Boston, I could, I'm scared of Porzingis. What's going to happen with Jalen Brown out there? He has contracts. Can Peyton Pritchard, all these different things. Philly, God only knows. Miami, they're unquestionably worse. Yeah, Milwaukee is going to be really good, but depending where Holiday lands and how this all plays out, I just think it's still wide open. And the other piece, so if you're just talking Boston, Miami, Tatum kills Milwaukee. I have no idea why. Boston is kind of built to at least stay with Dame and, you know, Derek White is about as good of a person you're going to have to try to keep Dame in check, at least. And Boston's done a really good job of guarding Giannis over the years. They don't have Grant Williams this year, but I just don't think, I think there's as many ways this goes wrong as it goes right, I guess would be my final thought on this because for what they gave up, especially with that 29 unprotected and the two swaps and, you know, they are all in on this team. And you know my theory, when you go all in on a team, you better think you can win. Not positive, but it's an awesome trade. It really is. It makes the league so much more fun. Dame and Giannis together. I'm going to enjoy watching Portland. I still have my eating stock. Watching Phoenix fans slowly realize that Derkiszna isn't the answer is going to be fun and then we'll see where Drew Holliday goes. So really fun trade. We're going to talk about it a little bit more with Die Hard Bucks fan, Ben Thompson in one second. Let's take a break.

Middleton hit Lopez for the go ahead basket. This is just a huge threat offensively. And so they knew it they had a plan like that. You know, go contest that shot and he's a great playmaker. He sees everything. So he saw him step up and a great play. Devin Booker scored 24 points and Deandre ayton had 22 with 11 rebounds for the sons. I'm Dave ferry.

Booker says he's feeling stronger after missing 21 games with a left groin strain. You know, after the first week, it's kind of like, I am here now to get the most out of it. So a lot of strength training, a lot of leg work can, you know, tonight at the field. I feel really good. Chris Paul had a season high 19 assists and 17 points for the sons who are now 32 and 27. "That would have matched the tyrese Halliburton. Asset. But I agree with you. Oh my God, it would have been the most fun basketball ecosystem that I can remember. And they would have figured it out. Like I'm so glad that you mentioned the idea of them playing higher in ball screens with the modest because I didn't even notice the stuff where they were playing just fool on hedging, but I did notice them playing a lot flatter at the level in terms of demonstration being able to just like, okay, we're going to play you flat at the level. You're going to recover back onto the big. At least corral this guy for a little while, make sure your guard recovers, make sure that you're in the gap. He's just so smart at using his body at the end of the day to be able to play the gap to be able to stop cutting down angles for guards to be able to make those high level passing reads to the roller. He's just I really, really like the modest. It took me a while to like, it took me probably a year and a half after his breakout to really really wrap my head around all of it. And I still think he's probably more of like a top 40 player as opposed to like a top 25 player in the league, but he is so good. He's so, so good. And like people who think he's worse than Deandre ayton, he's definitely better in Deandre ayton. He's just so much more versatile. Yeah, because the thing is, is it's like, I don't think people realize how bad the pacers surrounding shooting was around the time when he got traded. Like they ranked 25th in the NBA. Justin holiday I think was the only player shooting above 36% and like literally they played a game against the Phoenix Suns and you could hear Chris Paul on the broadcast, look at their bench and say back up they can't effing shoot. So there was games where you would be seeing sabonis getting defended by three people. And for him to be putting up those numbers while that was happening. I mean, there would be times where you're running a double drag and like in defense of Malcolm Brogdon and some of his playmaking. When you're running a double drag and like miles guy has one foot in the paint and TJ McConnell's in the corner and there's two people just waiting for sabonis to roll and he's still getting what type of numbers he was getting. And then when he got traded over to Sacramento, they're shooting situation was equally bad. Like they ranked 25th in the NBA over the back end of the season. And Justin wasn't even shooting as well for them. So for them to now upgrade what the shooting situation is that so many different positions going into it. I'm very curious to see what that will do for him and how much easier his life will be once he doesn't have it's really funny. If you watch the pacers play the Toronto Raptors, for instance, there were games up there in Toronto where he would literally have.

"There's always a chance it could expand. You could have something where the sun's this guy no longer really fits with us. What do you think about this deal? And then you send this back to us or something like that. I've seen people's annual, what if it was, buddy healed involved in J crowd or in somebody we're headed off to the other way. I think Jay Crowder and Landry shamit, one of the players thrown out their not recommended with thrown out there. So we'll see. I was hoping that that ping was in. It's that time of year, where every time you hear something go off, you rush and you check it out, but that was not it. I was hoping. I was hoping. But yeah, so I'm not sure where this is going to go for now. I think we'll see in the next couple of days, wouldn't surprise me if it's made into a bigger deal where there's more pieces moving around or it could be very simple and straightforward. But I think Indiana now really makes the most sense as the landing spot for 8. Well, let's assume this goes down. Miles Turner for Deandre ayton, the next guy we need to talk about is Kevin Durant. What does this mean for the sons and their pursuit of Katie? I don't know that it really changes all that much to be quite honest. I think a lot of people went initially to oh, Deandre ayton, but there were just a million challenges with 8 and going to Brooklyn. One is, again, there's that base here compensation stuff. Duran obviously makes way more money. Then there's also the hard cap issues because that would trigger the hard cap and the nets are way, they can't even see it anymore. They're so far past the hard cap line. So I think we're in a position where that one never really felt all that realistic just from a salary cap mechanics side. And then we start again reports that nets weren't really that high on bringing in ayton, which I guess would maybe make sense and they did just resign Nick claxton to a nice contract about 17 million or so 20 million if he hits a couple bonuses. So I think what we're going to see there is if that deal still gets done, there are other avenues towards it. It might mean a three for one kind of trade or something like that. But that's part of it and we're hearing through the reports again, Brian windhorst. I believe this was on the hoop collective, but I think you did touch on it on a get up as well. We've heard woj mentioned it is in passing two or in reporting is that it's the market is just not necessarily what the nets thought it would be for KD. They thought there was going to be, hey, we're going to get this massive return and let's go. And I think there's just a lot of complications that I just don't know that some teams are really ready to meet in a Kevin Durant, Kevin Durant trade. I'm going to keep doing the Kevin Garnett. I don't know why. I just have a mental block on that. It's okay. It's okay. It's right up there with how many times we were calling. And now we can do it, but we kept saying this summer when we were dealing with COVID years and it wasn't really the off season in the summer and all that. Exactly, yeah. Yeah, it was like right. That's what it's going to be.

"Like something like that is interesting for me from a fit perspective. Yeah. That to me just feels like another floor razor and not necessarily a ceiling razor for me. You know what I mean? I don't know. You tell me that the hawks could be you could do Trae Young dejante Murray Deandre hunter John Collins, miles Turner. Yeah? That's a fun team. That's a really fun team. The top of the east is so good though now. You've got to kind of you got to make a pretty ballsy move. If you're Atlanta, or you just have to slow play it a little bit more, which I feel like they push the button too fast. Where maybe they could have had a better draft pick. In a year, last season other than, but I don't know. I don't love what they've done. Getting all these players that kind of raise their floor a little bit too fast. I think you've got to let it marinate a little bit. Deandre does fit the age timeline for Trey and Dijon, though. In Deandre hunter, which is yeah, he does. And they're all mature enough to wear their past the youth of it all. Which is interesting. Yeah, now, if I was Atlanta, I think I agree with you. I'd go for Deandre. But yeah, the fact that Deandre ayton has struggled this much to get like $30 million a year is kind of baffling to me, especially given the way that the money is supposed to rise in the next couple of years due to TV contracts. Yeah, I was going to say this Mac contract is not going to look like a max and three years. Yeah, it's a minimax. It's a 25% max. It's bizarre. Yes. These are the times that you get guys on max contracts. And you feel very good about it. Yes. Pay the money. Robert sarver for the love of God just pay the money. Like, I just don't own the team anymore. I mean, I'm sure I know that sun's fans have been beating that drum for however long. He's on the team, but you hate that to be the reason why teams don't make it. Or that players don't get signed. Because of ownership, like those are the worst situations in the MBA. Maybe it's not maybe James Jones just doesn't have faith in Deandre anymore. Or maybe like the core pieces have been like, we don't we don't love Deandre anymore. I don't know that. I'm speculating on potential other reasons. It could be based on. The Phoenix. Deandre ayton. Right. I'd almost rather be that situation where it's like personality wise, this isn't going to work. It's just too baffling to me. Otherwise. And Deandre, it seems like it's just like a dude that like hang out and play video games and like, seems like a pretty good dude. So I don't know. Maybe he's like ready to move into a bigger role. I get that, but you're going to be able to move into a bigger role. Because this Chris Paul team's almost I could not last forever. He's 37. Yeah, no. I agree. It's weird. Andrew, we've gone for an hour, 15, I don't really want to go much longer than this. Tell the people what's going on. Tell the people where they can find you. "A little bit better next year, but man, if I'm Phoenix, I'm thinking, Chris Paul's 37. How much longer, I just can't, to me, I can't throw guys like miles Turner or whoever at this team trying to make it better today. When you have an option that keeps you good today and good in 5 years and you're giving that away so that you can maybe be slightly better for one year. Aiden could be a lot better than mouse Turner next year. He's 23. You know? By the time he's 25, it could be like, man, I can not believe that they traded mouse Turner for Deandre Aiden. He's averaging 2012 and two blocks a game. And he's just crushing it for the pacers. The other one that I've been trying to figure out is could this be a place for if Toronto decides they don't want to put Scotty Barnes in a Kevin Durant deal. Maybe Deandre makes sense there. Like trying to figure out like, okay, we sign in trade, Gary Trent, or something like that. We signed a trade, you know, precious and Gary Trent for Deandre ayton or something like that. And again, that makes Phoenix worse. I don't like that deal. I think it's a dumb ass idea. Yeah. But if they're just like set on fuck it, we don't want Deandre anymore for some reason. It's just such a wild situation. I feel like I have incomplete information on what's happening with Deandre and Phoenix. Look, I think that, look, I've talked to people and I still just don't, I think it comes down to ownership at the end of the day. That doesn't come like, don't. Robert sarver for a long time has been a very cheap owner. And I think that if this was a owner that was willing to consistently pay the tax and has proven that over a long period of time, they would have extended Deandre at the deadline. There are like at the extension deadline back in October. Coming off of a fucking finals run where he played better than Nikola Jokić for a full series. And that's the other thing about it with Deandre. That's the crazier thing. Outside of this Dallas series where he was not very good, right? And they got beat. Yeah, yeah. He's been playoff proven. Like he's been good. This is not a situation where you have to play him off. He's 20 player off the court. He's 23. 23 year olds have bad playoff series. Yeah. That happens every single year. And to act like, oh, okay, well, he's just cooked. No. He's still approaching his prime. He's still not even close to his prime. It's just, it's a weird time to trade a guy who was the number one pick who has performed well. Like you said, and helps you get to the NBA Finals. And I don't know. To me, they just act a little bit like, I don't know. They're not a team that has just been in the playoffs. You're in year out. And a franchise that's just had such stability. Sign Deandre, make him happy, stabilize your franchise for a little bit longer before you start making wild decisions. If Deandre ayton in a year is unhappy,

"Deandre ayton, the logistics of a trade because look, it's coming now from multiple sources. We talk about smoke. We've got a lot of people talking now about Deandre ayton, he's probably done with the sons. He's going to go somewhere else, but trading him, particularly because it's probably going to be a sign and trade. He's going to be a restricted free agent. The sons, they're going to want something back for him. So the fact that he's going to be in a sign and trade scenario, that adds some complications plus base here that's going to complicate things as well. So what does this look like? Because I know fans of a lot of teams around the NBA right now are thinking, um, could we get Deandre ayton, but it's not quite as easy as just trade player a and B in exchange for Deandre. Correct. So let's assume Deandre leaves us on. And let's just assume it's a max deal. That is signing somewhere else. Because if not, it's going to be really, really close. The reason why I'm saying that is, that makes a math very easy on me. To do the math. So let's just say the max deal, let's just say it's 30 million even. It's really 30.5, but 30 million just to make it easy. What that means is that basically three teams can in range being able to trade for him. Being able to sign him rather outright, that's the Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers and possibly Orlando Magic. The magic you're going to be in line to draft a little bit three bigs in the draft with the number one overall pick. They've got one to a Carter junior. They're probably not going that direction. The pacers, maybe miles Turner, they do something different and they want to go that way. Maybe. We could see that. In the pistons, sure, right? They're fully there and if the pistons want to go that will grow, they can't. Anybody else, it's going to have to be a sign.

So come join us on playback, use the link in the description below, Keith, I had to do it because every day you know behind the scenes, whenever we try to plan one of these things, I forget to say it. So I had to make sure that I threw it in here at the beginning. But how are you doing man? And are you feeling good now that your Celtics have tied it up too too? Yeah, I'll take full ownership for no show yesterday. Yeah, things were a disaster around the smith house house. We had a dog that was sick and was fortunate. He was coming out of all ends on all over the house, which was never fun while we also had a major plumbing issues for the second time in a week. So yeah, not great, but we got through that and everything now seems to be let me knock on wood very heavily here seems to be good. So yeah, but I mean, these playoffs have been something else, we're now up to it's like 22 blowouts of 20 or more points in the playoffs that's more a believe anyone has said than in any kind of recent history, at least. Which is tough. And this heat Celtic series in a way feels query them a little bit biased. But when Boston doesn't throw the ball away over and over and over again, they are the better team. Did he need those 15 to 20 turnovers to get their offense going? Because they just can't score in the half court. Against the Celtics, even in the games they've won, they struggled in half court offense. So yeah, I feel confident is much as you can two two with two games left on the road and potential loss, 7 game series, but we'll see..

"It might be midway through the second quarter of game three before he breaks it up, but there's going to be something at some point that the Celtics have not seen. And that's going to be maybe the difference in this. Series the heat side. I think overall it all kind of, I know we'll do pics at the end, but I'll step on my pick here because it's already out there. A number of places, but I picked Celtics to win in 6. In my biggest reason why is I think Miami plays in almost all lineups, one player you can isolate and attack. Whether that's max, he's a good defender, but he's not great. And especially if they get him on jaylen Brown or Jason Tatum, it can be trouble. But it could be Tyler hero. If Duncan Robinson shows up in this series, Gabe Vincent just standpoint of his size at the point guard position and he's not Kyle Lowry. Oh, we should mention that Kyle Lowry was offering lease game one. If not beyond, we'll see what happens there. But the Celtics don't do that. They don't play guys that you can attack. People go to paint and Pritchard, but the Celtics are so good about getting him out of mismatches. In making sure he's in a position where what he has to do is defend on the perimeter on ball, where he's fine and his height doesn't work against him. So that's, I think, the difference. I think blossom will be able to score just enough easier than Miami. Throughout the course of this series and that'll get them to win in 6. So what I'm looking at the series and I was just digging into some of the stats here that Miami Heat are playing at the 12th fastest pace. It's a pretty low in the NBA playoffs right now. Surprisingly, the Mavs are actually pretty low in pace as well. But they're not a team that's going to run the ball up and down the floor. The Celtics are 7, so that's a bit quicker. I think it's something that is from transition play, though, getting steels turnovers, things like that. I think that you're going to see there's a lot of pressure put on, like you said, that other defender in Miami, whether it's max screws or whoever it is, I think there is going to be some sort of surprise. I wonder how big of a factor spoelstra versus email email DOCA is going to be. That's one of my big question marks going into this series. I think email DOCA is absolutely fantastic, but I think Eric spoelstra might be the best coach in the NBA. So I think it is going to, that's going to show up at some point in this series. Will it matter enough to change the outcome? I'm not sure, but I think that's going to be a factor at some point in this series. And again, I don't think email Doc is a bad coach, I think it's a very good coach. But I think we've got to give it the edge there. Sorry, let me jump in real quick just because I wrote this for Celtics blog in my series preview..

"8 inside, the understanding will be, hey, if we're going to do a sign and trade, I want that max offer. That's what he wanted last year. Didn't get it. Willing to go there. If they sign and trade him, you've got to find a team that's willing to give him that backs offer and then his willing to give stuff to the sons in exchange in a sign and trade type deal. It'll be interesting to see if anybody just throws out a full max like the spurs or someone like that throws out a full max offer. And what the sun's doing in that scenario, but I think going in, the suns will have a good idea of what's going to happen. And so I think the most likely outcome here is now a sign and trade that sends him somewhere else. And complete agreement, I think that's where it's going to go because I don't think the sons have any desire to just let him leave for nothing. So even if it's, let's just say the Detroit Pistons who project have the most cap space go all in on an offer sheet. I think Phoenix would match it if for no other reason to retain control of the asset. So what I think is potentially likely here, different players, different situation, but remember when Malcolm Brogdon left the box for the producers, he agreed to that deal with the pacers and then the buck said, hey, we're not let's not mess around with an offer sheet. Let's make this a sign and trade and get this done. So we don't have to go through all the jumping through all the offer sheet hoops of we're going to make you wait and all this stuff will make it a sign and trade. Mutually beneficial for both. That's kind of how I now expect us to play out. For the suns is it'll be our you pick your spot and as long as something works, it's not going to be doing it and we get back for crappy contracts for him or something. They're not going to do that. But yeah, but if they can get into a position to do that and then get it into a spa where it is going to be mutually beneficial in the sun skin can get back something there. I think they'll do because I think too if you're the songs, Deandre ayton is really, really good. Don't get me wrong. But I think the songs are like, hey, we did all right with JaVale McGee when he played. It is place. We did fine. We're bizmac beyond when he played in his place. You know, do we have to really go this direction? And that's where I think you get a little tricky on that one. Now, there's challenges with a sign and trade. There are things on base share compensation. Issues that can be a problem. There are things with hard caps for the team acquiring them. That can be issues. But that's all stuff that can be worked around. There, so yeah, it'll be a situation where they can make this stuff happen and get it done. So I'm with you. That was a very long way of saying, I think he is signed and traded away from the Phoenix Suns at some point this off season. What's the best landing spot for him? And I know there's 30 different 29 possibilities there..

"Hello, everybody. Welcome and to the NBA front office show preseason as often running. We had a lot of games on the schedule last night. We're going to break down some of those. Plus, get into some news. The suns, maybe at odds with big man Deandre ayton, a lot to talk about there. Keith, let's just start with X, that's the big story of the day. The suns, not willing to give a max deal to Deandre ayden. That doesn't seem like a great look for the Phoenix. I mean, to me, this should just be automatic. I'm not overvaluing Deandre ayton here, am I? No, I mean, I'm with you on that one. I think he is worth a max in the context of guys like him, get max deals now. That's just the reality of it. If they won't do it somebody else is going to. And a lot of people have thrown my way, so then let somebody do it in restricted free agency. Well, the reality of that is, if you do that, you run the risk of them. It's probably going to be a three plus one. That you're going to match if you want to. And then you're going to lose them in at least the most after three seasons because now you've made them angry, you need to go out and take less money and just have a contract match. So I would get this done. I would not give him a player option. I would not give him the escalator language that would bump him up to 30%. But the 25% max over 5 years, get it done, then get Mikael bridges sign and now he's got your core of Booker eating and bridges locked in and you've got a Chris Paul for a couple more years. If they don't do this, this is a sign that they're not fully committed to trying to win a championship. You know, he shot, I can tell you from that first round series against the Lakers. He shot roughly a 175% from the field. It was incredible. He just did not did not miss anything. He played great. It was phenomenal. And you look at his peers, they're all getting deals right now. So of course he's gonna feel like he should also get one of those. Now you can say maybe he's not in the same tier as Luca, but look at what Michael Porter junior just got. A max and this is what gets me. I see people all the time on social media that say, oh, well, he's not really a max player. No, we're not understanding the concept of a max player well enough because we're forgetting that the guys who we see as max guys, your LeBron, Kevin Durant, the top top tier guys in the NBA. Giannis, those guys actually should be higher than a max. Just the CBA restricts them from getting more than that. So they're bargains on those contracts. They are not the only guys who get max. Max isn't given to a guy who's a generational talent. That's not what it takes in order to get to that level. So some people see max and they just assume, oh, that means the guys just this transcended superstar, but that's not really the way the max salaries work. No, not at all. It's not even close to the way it works. And that's the day like you said, that's the unfortunate thing here. The misunderstanding of, it's not a vacuum. You exist in a world where there's 29 other teams. And if one of them just one of them is willing to give him a max, then he should get the max. And let's be fully understanding. We're not talking the Luka Dončić probably young max that gets him over 200 million over the 5 years. We're talking a 172.5 million, that shake. It'll just Alexander go. I'm fine if you want to push it like he did with my competitor junior, like Denver did, and maybe do a non guarantee on the end or something like that or some language that, hey, you keep improving. But I go back to a lot of people were like, oh man, the hoxton, so good to lock up, couldn't compel it to a two year extension worth about 45 million or so. And it's not that they didn't. I think they did great to lock him up, but I'm sorry, ings younger. And giving him 6 million more, a year or so. That's fine. I have no issue with that at all. You know, cappella is now what he's 27. So he'll turn 28 right towards the end of sometime in the playoffs, maybe Alan will still be in that or not. And nobody's screaming a yelling about that, that when he's in his 30s, he should everybody's fine with him getting 22 and 23 million. Hayden just turned, I think 23. I think it is. So I just, I don't understand this if you're the songs to me if I was on fans. I would be absolutely livid. If they don't just mess around here because people are screaming, well, you know, you can't expect a team to spend that kind of money. Sure you can. Yeah. Do you want to win a championship? That's what you do. The Milwaukee Bucks just want to title what did they do? They've gone deeper into the luxury tax than they've ever gone. Before this year to try and defend it. Lakers clippers nets warriors. You don't need to get stupid like a couple of those teams and be 40 million over the luxury tax line. But tripping into the tax, that's how you win titles. You got to get it done. I mean, look, if you were to put every GM in the NBA in a room and you said, raise your hand if you would give Deandre a max. How many hands do you think go up? At least 20. Yeah. Right? And that's all that matters. That's all that matters. If he was on the market, most teams would indeed do that. Now, I will say though, he's not going anywhere. He's not going to this isn't going to get to the point where the sun say, you know what? We're just not going to give you this contract. Go ahead, hit restricted free agency, and then maybe we'll let you go. I don't think it's getting to that point. And that's maybe why this is even more confusing. You're going to regardless of what happens here. You're going to keep this guy around. Do you really want that bad vibe of? Well, we tried to strong arm you here into a contract that's based on what your peers got probably less than what you're worth? You know what? I wonder is he the guy that ten times the qualifying offer his qualifying offers 16.4 million. So it's a pretty good sized number compared to where those qualifying offers usually come in. And then he'd be an unrestricted free agent in 2023. And then he can do whatever he wants. So I wonder if he looks out and says, you're going to make me go out and sign a deal with another team that you're just going to match and then you're going to have kind of control over this process for the next few years? Nah, I'll sign the qualifying offer. I'll play it out on that. But on myself and then I'll go get paid from whoever it is I want to be with the next year. And I think the other thing is to I learned today on Twitter. A lot of people don't fully realize how good Deandre Eaton has, but also true. He's a walking double double. This guy shows up and he's 15 and ten. Every night, it's just, you know, it's kind of ridiculous that we're here. Andy's become a pretty good defender. So just you got to get this one done if you're the sons. That would be a first, wouldn't it? If a guy was to turn down big money in order to take the qualifying offer. But that's interesting. Because it hasn't happened. I don't even have that as like a thought in my head as a possibility, but you're right, if that qualifying offer is 16 million, maybe that is it. Maybe that is the path we go. And that would be disastrous for the Phoenix Suns. If that's what if that's what? Yeah, that's why you can't push this. Don't mess around. Just get it done. It's not going to it's not going to be a bad contract. You'll be fine. You know, he's going to be a top 5 to 8 center in the league for the life of whatever his next deal is. Assuming it's four or 5 years, just get it done. It's still the center position is not dead. People may make go too far with that in the NBA. So but yeah, yeah, I don't know. And I get it, you got to also think about paying Mikael bridges. And he's probably gonna push somewhere between 15 to 20 million a year as my guess. But Garrett lock it in, spend a whole bunch of money. I mean, part of the whole thing with Chris Paul was, he's only on the big contract for one more year after this. And then everything dips into being partially guaranteed. So you can get out of that if you're really need to into much cheaper money you got Cameron Payne on a nice deal. Jay Crowder's only got a year left. So you're really only looking at a huge tax bill for probably a year or two. And do it. You're a title contender. You're right there. You went to game 6 of the finals. In a two O series lead, you know, if things had gone right, you might have been able to win it, but we'll see, you know, I don't have a lot of faith that ownership is going to.

"Succeed a last year. Well that that's also do to you know, the Lakers defense how they keep doubling hardening recovering to their Shooters, right. But I think in a regular season this year, with the Bucs have done, was they put Drew in the dunker spot and Brook Lopez on a perimeter that way they bring the big out of the paint while also offer having 5l spacing wild rooms man is the rim protector and that's why this regular season. They they've actually had some success that and they actually haven't been doing it in the playoffs home. So I think they should start doing that and maybe they can win a game game. That's you. And yeah that's fascinating. I mean I'm trying to picture that in my head right now. I mean I certainly can picture Brook Lopez facing to the wing or to the core birth. And getting out of the perimeter, but I'm trying to picture through holiday in the junker spot. That's that's really interesting and yeah, that for sure. We, we saw that tonight actually a little bit where they were but they would run like a fan pick-and-roll. Sun's finally ran a little bit more with Chris Paul out there and what they were doing was yeah, they were luring the the small guard to have to be the guy who protected the rim and they they simply wasn't going to work and then they got a lot of easy shots that way. So off the sons, did that now the books. Wow. I haven't. I can't picture that. That's a great call. All the dive into the footage and try and sign find that. Yeah, I've actually seen that from the channel, half-court Hoops with Coach gave. All right, we'll give him a shout out for sure. Yeah. So I've seen that. Yeah, yeah so that that's just my thought of on the, on the game and then some questions about, you know, being better as a player. So I've been like trying to train having a tighter handle as a guard. So the seat for like the secret to a tight handle. Is it dead? What is it is it is it hand eye coordination? Is it like Kirby for example he has small hands, right? You know, Katie right? Well I you know, I've had a fair amount of experience working with players and trying to improve their hand at the high school level and doing what we did for decades and decades like a lot of time doesn't really help. And so when you're talking about developing in the things you should do to get better at dribbling that's like that's why I could weigh in on any kind of static dribbling where you're standing still doing it. It's worthless and I know we're Sakura, do all that stuff. Whatever, I would argue that a lot of the things he does two balls rules in place aren't really for the dribbling part. It's much for the hand eye coordination it for the pick up into the shot that to me is really where he fitting from that drill specifically. So when I've had success with a lot of different players improving their handles when we got them up and moving so that they can now recreate a game situation a lot better and I certainly do. Don't like the notion of the machine-gunning where you're doing as low as you possibly can, as hard as you can. That's not how the best dribblers dribble. It. It's a lot higher by the waist, it's by the side of your body and it goes backwards and forwards. That, that motion, there is a really key thing to be able to handle a new watch these guys tonight. They pull the ball back, Booker's awesome at it. They're reaching in there, trying to pressure him and he's just brings the ball back with the five behind him behind his waist, but but near the size and it's all you have to do. You don't need to have every kind of fancy version of, you know, through the legs crossed over behind the back stuff..

"Mix it up a little bit, what they did let tonight giving up a hundred eighteen points. I think it was a pretty slow paced game in fact wage. Me, see if I can call call us up right now. I want to know what the offensive rating was really quickly. Teams, traditional Advanced, bear with me for 1. Second Advanced, playoffs, all games last game, Phoenix Suns, they're offering this one 38.3. So they actually. Yeah. And but the pace I think was yeah, the pace is really slow. So they they give them everything they wanted. They did. The the box is completely ineffectual and that's what's going to kill them. So they gotta be able to do something else Zone. Even I don't know what try something. Well, I think they've definitely played Brook Lopez and basically, Bobby, Portis walk off the court, I think they have to, they have to play Yiannis, big minutes? Yeah. If they want to win the series, which is tough considering that he he breaks down his knee but it's tough. It's tough. Absolutely. It is it's going to have their work cut out for my coach bugs going to do that. Coaching thing that we you know, we talked about all the times but yeah, I thought the books wage Some pretty bad shots. I didn't like it was basically Middleton taking a bunch of contested long twos. Yiannis wasn't doing much too hot. I mean you were talking about earlier. Also, Brook Lopez and Jana speaking out. There may be limited your holiday and what you can do. Yeah, yeah. That might be part of the focus of the of the video for tomorrow is wide through holiday struggled so much. It might be interesting segment. I'll be the first one to watch it. Awesome. Well, thank you. I appreciate it. One more question. One more question is a little sign though, but I was hearing some rumors, about a DeMar DeRozan, trade to Lakers. They were talking about college, treze and first-round pick. I personally hate it for the Lakers of someone that wants to see LeBron, win his fifth ring. I don't like it. I think he's a horrible fit for the Lakers. What do you think? Well let's see here. Listen, I liked how kuzma was developing..

"The first thing I want to talk about is, how am I know you had a bit of issues in the game? I am flexible was the youngest of excluded up to the cause, like, a week ago, we had 36 years was gone and like today, it was, it was to play game, five minutes and, and was affected, not unusual level by was quite effective. And I'd like to get some parts for that a second. I want to talk about this and eight. I feel like right now after, like, Thursday is the best players in produced you guys, cuz I feel like, I feel like kill small, small, small bowl lineups. And it's good enough against deadlines of trash like, after MB, the new kids, probably him for the playoffs. I mean, like a full 80 to regular. Oh, well yeah, I can go with that. I kinda want to look at the playoffs down and make sure we're not forgetting any other centers. But yeah, I mean you know, you gotta put yokich ahead of them, although again, you know, agents better defensively than jokic by far. But but okay. So you'll get, you'll get the nod because the offense and then obviously MB the same way. And beans defense is probably is as good, if not, you know, better than Aiden. So yeah, I can't think of anybody else go Bears. Certainly not who are the other centers that were forgetting right now that were in the playoffs this year? I guess it was porzingis Zuppa. Yeah. I don't think any of them a better than either. Yeah. All good calls. Absolutely. Let's see, can I actually call the seasons summary? Whereas it's playoffs. Where the playoffs in the summer. He's here wage. Yeah, so yeah, nobody on Brooklyn. The Miami Heat. I mean, you got ban Mai Dubai. Oh but no, I mean I think anything's better than bam at this point. Although, bam passes a lot better but yeah, it's kind of funny. It's a resurgence. Sub centers. Now in a way where we thought, you know, point guards were going to take over the league and now we got these centers who are doing really well too. So it's a weird I think we're going to interesting, you know, path on the NBA. We're we're all you know that the ratings are down probably because we're not used to seeing the style of basketball as we're moving to something else, and we're all going to catch up and I think it's just going to explode again. I'm going to final question. Right. Sure. You think do you think okay, I personally believe in the long-term the NFL removed from the force, more of a sensible where you can actually walk log in the name for him and find out. What do you think about that? Yeah, I think I think what we saw in that first quarter he went like five or six all posts up space ups and they know what he could stop or down there. Yeah, I mean listen he doesn't shoot the ball..

"Future. Yeah, it's to the top writers can be. I would anticipate them, you know, getting to a lot more Conference Finals and getting some finals. You know, with the next couple of years, I really do all right coach. And then lastly do you you have the songs when the series right after this today, or do you think the Bucks you make some adjustments? I have a son's, I mean, I had two sons winning it for sure offer. And, you know, I don't know how many games it's easier. Now to say after they won the first one, I would say me to be safe. I'd say this one's and six six. Yeah, absolutely size. Okay, cuz thank you so much my man, osseous, great. Thank you, you too, all righty. There goes, Kevin. Great call. Let's do, let's bring an atom. Let's see here. Adam, are you there? I'm going to got Adam, I got Dila, Saya. I got rich and Daniel, I guess in that order. As long as these things stay, in the same order, then I'll do it that way. But Adam, what's happening, man? What's up coach? Nick, how're you doing tonight? I'm doing well, how are you doing? I'm doing pretty well, as, you know, two out of fun, time watching the game. It's nice live stream. I do have a question. I just wanted to say, I know you remember me, shouting out DeAndre ayton for finals MVP before this stream. So, I'm glad that the game Chris Paul stole is twenty-twenty but I don't know if you saw the stat with him and cream. Yep. Before he, you know, switch to Islam but like I do. I do believe it. It's either him a crisp offer phones that he did if they win. Yeah. Oh listen. He was hoovering up. All those rebounds to be who's the he was anchored. They weren't getting I mean, how many offensive boards they get? They got nine. The Bucks did, I mean, I came in picture any of them at this point and maybe they probably all were gotten when he was on the bench because everything else he just grabbed. He ended up with money. 15 17. Rebounds total fifteen defense. If I mean he was just a just a vacuum down there..

"But but they have someone special, there's no question. 18, the special Okay. I just have one more question. Obviously Donte, divincenzo is not playing. He's been out for a lot of the playoffs. He's actually like the advanced statistics love him on defense like they even like him maybe lights just like with Jrue Holiday than ecstatic as good as reality. Do you think that like that would actually make a difference in series? You think that? I mean look the injuries been have been changing the whole playoffs. Yeah. You could actually put the Box on the in in favor position or not that much of it. Yeah I think it makes a difference in a couple of ways. First of all, he's a starter and that hurts any team to take a starter off. No matter how good the starter is in the hierarchy, but also it seems we see Jeff Teague, and if you go to play Jeff Teague, ten minutes in the finals game and you got to play Bryn Forbes, 20. What did he, what did Bryn Forbes play? For informed play around 12. It's not too much but you know what I mean, it's in place 28th, but that's really weird in there in the fourth. Yeah, I don't know. It felt like you play more minutes but I mean it's not pretty know. He had one dog. Or he, he like, put the ball in the ground and then just try to shoot a mid-range. I don't know what he was doing, but when you had to have him in there in a crunch time, that's that's when you need what you need divincenzo and that's what really hurts them. So without question, it's a thing, the sons are the most healthy team and that's probably why they're going to win. Okay. Well, thank you so much coach. I love your content. Hey, I appreciate the first to watch your videos like first-ever like that way back. Know, I'm always the first on, like I'm not sure I get a notification. I put right on YouTube. Awesome. Well, thank you so much anytime like a back on. All right, okay, thanks so much. You got it. So there goes that and then that was Eli. Let me close that button. Okay. I got fiber jet. Thank you so much. The real Ian is from, is sending me Super Chat from England? I believe it's the pound symbol coach. Can you believe how late coach? But maybe adjustment in went for the small ball life? He let the game get away from us. Also, why can't he get Drew to perform at his best when you noticed on the court? That's interesting..

"Not just one. Yeah. Well, Millicent, Kobe was the best worst shot maker of all time and so he would make these shots like oh that was just like what are you even trying that shot for? And so as a coach it was always a little frustrating. As a fan, totally get it like he's the Mamba and he was you know you worthy of off of all that respects. But you know there was always this notion of if you just would let the offense work for him, more than his, his field goal percentage would be higher and then employers he might even you know maybe the team would flow a little better around. So it's either very polarized and guy it's always hard to deal with it. I don't I just don't get that same. My my Spidey Sense doesn't single as much when I'm watching Booker take his shots, they're a little bit more, you know, in the flow. And as a result I think you know he shoots it actually is interesting to see if we compared Booker's field goal percentage cuz it wasn't always that great either. But he's he's fingers and things out. It's great to see. I just want to say, I really love your show, man. I love your content and, and it's good to talk with you and chop it up for a bit. Well, I appreciate it, makes me feel really great to hear that cuz, you know, sometimes I get people screaming in the off, the author of the comments and it's nice to hear some people actually enjoy it. So thank you. No problem man. I love like watching it. And you breaking down and like it helps me learn everything about the game of basketball, so much off. Awesome. Well that's great. That's that's why we're here and please feel free to come back anytime. Well well you have a good show you too. Thanks, Jacob. All right, let's bring in Eli cuz I know he's been patiently waiting. I can see how long must be on a Droid Eli. Come on in, hit that button and I don't know you might get broadcast to YouTube. I don't know though because sometimes it doesn't just give you the voice but let's see what's happening, my man. A coach, how you doing? I'm good, I'm good. How are you doing? I'm good. I just have a little bit of an echo. I'm not sure what's happening. I'm going to ask you about the Andre in cuz you just mentioned it. This thing. I know if you listen to Bill Simmons podcast, but everyone has been talking about the under-18 is playing really well, the playoff game, who are saying that like maybe now he's a top 40 player but bothers me about that or maybe or a really big asset in a playoff team or whatever. But bothers me more. Is that like, I don't know how to read off the future. I don't really see him as a shot-creator on his own. So I don't really ever really seen being an All-Star, anything like that. I think that this is his like, perfect position, where he's like the third, like the fact go through the best player. We don't actually the score and its field goal. Percentage is unbelievable, but I think it's more cuz he's getting easy shots from Chris Paul. Well, that's a great thing. I mentioned it a minute or two ago about how I thought Ada newest were the MVP of the game. So it's weird, right? Because he plays like, you know, a 90 Center, and this is the modern MBTA aren't supposed to be able to do that, but what does work for him? He's got amazing hands off. Great touch around the rim, a Rolls hard. So the very least against the Bucs specifically, he's going to look like a top twenty player because the books are so concerned with shots around the rim. But they're going to collapse on that and that's going to open up everything for everybody else..

"Game one am. I'm ready for the season to kind of get to the, you know, the, the end of it and, and see what's going to happen. Waiting for so long. First off absolute miracle from the gods that somehow Jonas was able, and actually looked really good. They threw up a lot to him on a pick-and-roll and he went up and dunked it. Now, it wasn't exactly maybe as high as he normally get, but he looked really, really good that knee. Didn't seem to affect him too much. He had one point where he planted, you know what, it's his right knee. They did it right, but he planted in my mind, I'm thinking my plan of the left knee and then he kind of came up, really hobbling a minute there, but then seemed to snap back into action. So truly remarkable that he was able to be as effective as he was. I mean, we can go to the the real quickly, the box for numbers to see but based off. Giannis went six 4:11. He hit a three. He had four assists and 17, rebounds and twenty points. Total. He had three turnovers and a couple of those were inopportune ones, but they weren't out of the ordinary as far as what he would normally do. He'd sometimes will struggle and get the ball knocked away from him. And that happens, no matter whether his knee is bad or not. But for the most part he looked, you know, pretty much the way he would. Normally look is a little bit slightly slower as late as aggressive and a little bit more Earthbound. Barely but I mean, that's pretty effective for what they needed. Obviously the, the big story line for off-site is going to be for the Brook Lopez issue because obviously that's going to be a huge problem for them if they're like, based on what we saw last night that in a minute. But I also want to remind you guys that over on the hot mic app which should be in the description below. The Jump

"Right very similar to chris. Paul and devon booker. Then you have a big that can be dominant in in brook lopez very similar to what you have in debt downgrade now. Obviously they're different but when you look at their strong points of all of both teams it's to be matchup like it's all about matchup you got to win your matchup in. The bench has to outplayed the suns bench. But the approach for milwaukee is going to be very similar for the suns. You gotta have balance. You gotta get a lot of people involved. You gotta involve your big. And then you're going to need big players to step up in big moments. And i think that was going to be needed for both of these teams because they are so similar right and let the official injury with honest with the bucks or listing him as a hyperextended left. May now we at chris bosh on the show last week. He said he had that same injury. He would not expect you honest to come back in these playoffs at all but on the other hand the bucks for the last couple of games of listed him as doubtful at least for the last game they did. Now i don't know if that's gamesmanship or if there really was possibly a chance that he could have made it back out onto the court. We don't know how they're going to list him pre-game tomorrow but look we all know how competitive kubo is. We know that he has been since he won his first. Mvp he said you can't really call me an mvp. Until i win a title that he knows the importance of winning in the nba and for him not to be able to just automatically be. They're on that floor with them today. It just must be so different. His left leg as take off leg. Just understand that. That's a little different when it's your dominant all those euros all that long when you're doing those euros your knees not as stable. So that's something that how he plays can also contribute to how quickly he can come back and it's balanced too though right because kendrick. We remember kevin durant in the nba finals. Two years ago. Where i think. Kevin was putting pressure on himself to play. In addition to any outside pressure he kevin durant wants to be there for his team. He wants to show up. He is always shown for his teams. We know that so. He like any athlete at that level. Wanted to give it a go and we know what happens. So i'm sure there's a little bit of trepidation there with the honest on the one hand it's the nba finals. Yanez worked his literally his whole life to get here. But you don't want him injuring something else right and then possibly being out for an entire year next year the way you saw with kevin durant. It's very difficult point. And i always say as i tell people time and time again. That is hard to win the nba championship. But don't take for granted getting to the nba finals. Like you don't never know if you ever give back in your career plan on the biggest stage being able to be a part of you. Know the whole. Abc experience the media. Experience the whole driving from the hotel where you're on the road with the security like all that matters and i think you know you don't want to take it for granted because you just never know what's the possibility of you getting back to look. We're going to have to wait and see what happens with janas. I do want to discuss. What's still going on with the atlanta hawks. Though coming up guys..
