"Do you know what? It's a tough one. I think I just wonder if they looked at the pandemic as not fully representative. Some of those early results this season not represent the entire season. The way they ended the last season wasn't the best, where they began this wasn't the best integrating new players. And they just felt it was time for something someone new because even even it's not scientific, you know, the kind of responses on Twitter with it. There's a sense with the villa fans of devastated really sad. We get it, but we're also so sad because some made a beautiful point and they said, the combination of Grealish and Dean Smith two people that absolutely love the clock was so special to come up from the championship with them at the helm was so special we might never see that again. So there's a kind of having said that can I say this to villa fans? I disagree with that. I'd be more optimistic because given the quality of the youth coming through at villa that I've seen, I'm so excited by the villain. So I think you might have a deans with character. And I think it's possible that you can promote within. So I don't think it's in the short term I get to be despondent, but the villa fans I saw on Twitter generally were kind of like just really gutted about it. I could see the reasoning for it, but also like, let's take a moment to just acknowledge the contribution. Because again, this is the thing you get Barcelona, it's a silly comparison that may seem to draw, but villa have such a football identity, right? People don't really always read it, but they'll have a very particular side identity of playing a way of playing, which in its own ways is important to them as bars.

North Carolina Tar Heels basketball coach Roy Williams retires

"North Carolina coach Roy Williams announced his retirement after 18 seasons coaching the Tar Heels. I feel very fortunate that we've had him for so long, it's such a high level. One of the great coaches in the game of basketball more reaction to the retirement of UNC legend Roy Williams with over 900 wins and three national championships to his name. When asked about why he chose to retire now, Williams said, quote every time somebody asked me how long I was going to go. I'd always say as long as my health allows me to do it, But deep down inside, I knew the only thing that would speed that up. Was if I did not feel that I was any longer the right man for the job. I no longer feel that I'm the right man for the job. Williams went unbeaten in March Madness first round matchups. 29 You know until this year, the first round loss to Wisconsin breaking the streak. Sixers Garden national champion with UNC Danny Greene talked on Keyshawn J. Will and Zubin about his former coach, and what made him so legendary. He's been doing a strong as I've been alive and he's been a legend since then, since before probably I was born and he's a legendary stuff before me and during my time there and after He's one. You know a number of championships, and that's not even that doesn't speak on his success to me what he's done off the court and what he's pledged that school in other schools, eyes helped out in the community there, North Carolina and you know not just there, but many places in the world. So to me, that just speaks legendary. You know, outside the court just many ways you could be, um You know, a legend is many ways. You can be a hero. As many ways you could be a champion and world wins is the definition of all those. Those things even said the in before I was born. ESPN College basketball analyst Jay Billa spoke on Spain and Fitz about who could be a successor to Williams at UNC. I think it'll have to be somebody within the Carolina family. So the first thing you think of his Hubert Davis, who played there for Dean Smith, that has been a system under Roy Williams, the last 89 years. Some like that, and Um, you know, the only the only thing that people would bring up with Hubert is he has not yet been a head coach, but he's played a million years. The MBA there, you know, Roy Williams had never been a head coach when he took over Kansas, so I'm not all hung up on this head Coach thing. I think it's great. I'd rather I'd rather have Ah, someone with head coaching experience that not, But when you got somebody's got his Hubert, I wouldn't hesitate to make that higher. But also that the other one that I think Will be right in the mix of those West Miller, the head coach of UNC Greensboro, He played for Roy Williams on the 05 National championship team as backup guard and he's been an outstanding music, really young head coach. UNC Greensboro, and he's done really well there, but for the last couple of tournaments that were held, and he had a really good team this year with Isaiah Miller is his best player, making the double A. So he's He's another really good option

"Words. But he mostly just kind of students, you know, basically like you're just making a fool of yourself, which I was at the time so And then I turned around, walked out and as I was walking out, I put both my fist up over my head like a heel wrestler and walked out the tunnel and left the building. And that was the only time I've ever getting kicked out. How much was the fine? What was it 1000? Maybe it was like 500 for the 1st 500 For the second. It was deep. Yeah, Maybe it's like 2 55 100 or 2 57 50. Somebody had 2 50 for the first technical I want to say it's maybe the 7 57 50 total, So, Yeah, it wasn't that expensive. It wasn't like I was thrilled to get docked. Almost $1000. But yeah, it wasn't It wasn't something where you actually thought about it like if you wanted to do it. Oh, you were going to do it. And if you made those guys who made money, they didn't care at all. Tease. We're like tip money for them. I was like no big deal it all now they're a little more. Everybody's making a lot more to so Yeah, I didn't think about it. Then afterwards, I was like what? I was kind of stupid that that was that was gonna stupid, And that's when I knew because I knew after I did it, and I was walking out of the hands of my head and everything, and I was like God, this is stupid. You know, I just I just felt like you is something you want to do. It is like child. It's like dumb and Just basically it was all the pent up anger head over being a Clipper. All year long, and I was just frustrated with the whole season. That'll do it. And then and then being back in Oakland, where, you know I loved plan, and I love being part of that team and fans and everything. I was just like that socks. You know, we come here, get her ass kicked and this is where I was playing a couple years ago, and I'm not playing here. Anymore. So as I'm walking off the court, uh, with with my hands up us like that, Just go your fool. Let just keep one. Keep your hands up, Keep walking and just suck it up, and that's when I knew. Yeah. So? So I'm thinking I'm like an idiot. Right? You do? That was just stupid. I just foolish and this giving my first inkling as to Ah, Who Chris. Whoever might end up being seems like a rookie on that team that year, and after the game, he comes out. He finally I came up to me walked by each other, and, uh, in the hallway as I was getting ready to go on the bus. He becomes a tree goes, Dude, that was really cool. That was really cool. Like I was like, What's wrong with you? Cool made a fool of myself up there Cool, like, Oh, that was a glimpse into the future. Right there. Easily entertained. Uh, do you want to know what Aston Villa manager Dean Smith, by the way? His real name. I thought you were making a funny now find out now. These actual name is Dean Smith. Do you want to know what he said to the guy? I have a guess It was an effort to pee in there, but I'm not sure that's what I That's what I thought I lip read. But what do you think so? This comment was so good. And so just Just just cut to the core that he said it to the touchline official. Which the guy on the literally the line that has the flag that goes up for offsides. Okay, And then he said it to the actual referee. Oh, that's in charge of the cards and all that kind of stuff. What he said to both of those men and I'm just gonna go ahead and say it while cautioning people you're going to hear something that is going to it's going to take you to his core to your court. Um Dean Smith said to these two men He asked them if they received juggling balls for Christmas. Jesus Christ, this guy being Smith is just out of his mind. He's a savage. I just This guy here is just like this. He kissed his mother with that mouth. I mean, how do you ask two grown men if they receive juggling balls for Christmas? So what do I know what juggling balls are? I have no clue. No clue. Oh, you better believe it means something different over there that it doesn't. That's what makes this so sinister, right? I know we don't want to know the answer to this kind of call them everything but a child of God. But he said no. I'm gonna ask these two chaps if they got juggling balls for Christmas. Oh,.

"Love the college of perspective with dean Smith it was great to hear him again a Roy Williams and just seeing that old footage Josh reminds me too with a tweet just now another great line from that section of the of the last dance I was better than Michael for about two weeks that was James worthy because the coach's challenge him Roy Williams challenged him to push himself harder than he ever had before to work harder than anybody else and he was like Hey I mean I worked hard all through high school and Roy said to M. well you did say you want to be the best right and so from that point on Michael was a workhorse and never stopped working and Dr James worthy among others that they all recognize that he was the top player on that team just a couple weeks and and so we are yeah the the beginning of it what is that I mean I thought it was such a great set up and then of course we get into more about that particular season ninety seven ninety eight which was termed the last dance so anyway I love to hear your thoughts many of you are finding me on Twitter a little radio also on our Facebook page it's all read some of your your responses I hope that you like it if you didn't see it apparently it's on Netflix already because I'm about to tell everybody I know my brother probably doesn't he doesn't watch TV a lot on Sunday night and so I'm going to tell him that he needs to go and get it from Netflix because he and I used to watch the NBA together we are growing up in the late eighties and the nineties that was R. "Overall the NBA draft that was pretty much a no brainer the trailblazers at number two takes employee Michael Jordan winds up going number three to the Chicago Bulls and then of course he goes on to become Michael Jordan following Sunday's debut of the last dance documentary Jaylen Jacoby chatting with the director Jason air he killed in college made a big time Simon championship game play with James worthy future hall of fame and I was the number one Hey Sam Perkins big smooth when number five played for dean Smith and then he got to the league I appreciate the role trip when they were in the hotel he went out and the team is allowed him to come in and he said he saw a lot of drugs that he'd never seen before it does seem to be a turning point as it related to how he wanted to be a leader so very young in his NBA career he said you know that I had to lead I couldn't leave with my voice because I had no voice at that point he was in his third pick in the draft no one at that point knew that he was going to become Michael Jordan everybody knew that he was maybe the most electric player in that draft and he was a college player of the year before but no one knew what he was going to become so he didn't have enough clout to six two two it wasn't so much leadership bye certainly by local leadership it was saying I mean I have nothing to do with this at that point you didn't even drink alcohol so he would literally hang out in his apartment all day long watch movies the airport table yet a pacman machine that you invite people over to play didn't drink didn't smoke nothing none of that was all basketball all the time he was a gym rat Jason it was one time he said that he didn't go to nightclubs and you tell me that he didn't drink habits change what does he do you think that he loosens up some of these restrictions I don't hang out with them we'll make your first and winds distant second I'm not invited to so what I think rudimentary Google search will probably answer that question to cobra you sound like someone who's still getting emails from of the people involved with Michael Jordan and the process is not done yet we have not delivered the final episode well one day U. S. mismatch but people like me that remember this and live this of course but one thing this film is so good it is just filling in those little gaps in your members to this did happen quite sometime ago and you forget little things and one of the sort of the the the thing that kind of gets washed away over the hips over sort of time in the history of your mind and what you can just remember is relationship between this team and front office and ownership and very early in this film used Abbas Krause as sort of some of the players and someone who is at odds with Michael Jordan self and that must be a very difficult thing to depict using those bites and knowing what you know about the story how did you sort of approach that when it came to his character in this bill well if there is one person I couldn't use it for this film and didn't it would be Jerry Krause Jerry passed away four months before we started shooting but he obviously was at the center of that fire storm that created the last dance scenario that season so he's a polarizing figure and it's easy to cast him as the villain I consider him more of a foil to Michael's zero because I think you have to give Jerry credit and as you see later on the series when we when we go deeper into it you'll see him get more credit and be credited with being the architect of those teams Jerry came after Michael Jordan but everything you know about that bulls dynasty besides Michael Jordan was put in place from a managerial perspective by Jerry Krause and Jerry Reinsdorf so we had to I felt I owed it to Jerry to tread lightly and and to involve him to have his voice in the stock as much as possible with archival footage well we also had to depict accurately how much the villain I assume in that locker room and what an object of ridicule he was and how much Jerry had to indoor from these guys who were you know the cool kids they were gonna pick on the guy who wanted to hang out with them all the time on the bus which he literally did mmhm so it was it was a delicate balance of giving Jerry some respect but also telling the story in an accurate way I really like how you did that because uniquely playing against those teams and then later being traded to the bulls by Jerry Krause rest in peace having the chance to spend time with him it was really unfortunate that he couldn't allow the credit to happen on the court we feel it just so happened to be all time greatness happens he left a one stop more so that wasn't a good decision the bulls man M. J. go he should be in ownership additionally with Chicago shouldn't have to go to Washington even play saying was guiding taking victory laps for not paying and Reinsdorf allow them to do that so it's really unfortunate did they feel regretful that it seems like he's the one person that destroyed the largest dynasty in the history of NBA basketball I didn't sense any lingering resentment I think that in many respects the ISIS thought over the years which is one of many reasons why it's a good time to tell the story with enough distance and guys can be honest and and you know conversations happen Adams for behind closed doors for the last twenty years it is thought that ice but at the time certainly there was there was a lot of resentment towards the front office and George Jerry Krause's office in particular you see Michael literally glance up and indicate that that's the most that's when he's asked by the press most difficult part of the season he looks up at Jerry's office Jerry was definitely the scapegoat for a lot of attention that was in that locker room but Phil Jackson wanted credit to Michael Jordan is not as as vocal about deserving credit because it's it's demonstrable when he's on the court that he deserves the credit for the bulls dynasty but there's a lot of people who had rightful claims to being the main reason why that team was what they work with Jerry Krause I mean he gets booed at the end of episode one when he goes out to accept his fifth championship grammar is solid being to be fun for the city of Chicago every story needs a hero and a villain and he was a polarizing guy and he certainly wasn't going to be cast as the hero to Michael's villains so there was no place to go but down for Jerry unfortunately and also.

"Going on the Michael Jordan documentary is ouch I have yet to see the last dance however headlines that the Chicago Bulls were termed a traveling cocaine circus before Michael Jordan got there Michael Jordan of course came to the university of North Carolina dean Smith and dean Smith you know very conservative when it came to the way he ran his team that dean Smith the late dean Smith was famously liberal when it came to politics and social issues however very intolerance of of of drug use and other things that we're going on in the NBA at that time and Jordan talks about being in Peoria and a hotel trying to find his teammates and he started knocking on doors as was in his rookie season after one door and you could hear someone say signs outside the city voices so is it and he says Sanjay in these ads yeah just a rookie don't worry about it so they open up the door he walks and practically the whole team is in there and is things he'd never seen in his life as a young kid you got your lines over there weed smokers over here women over here he tells the interviewer that an article called the bulls are traveling cocaine circus erupts into laughter but at the time it was a major shock coming from the button W. NC program and it led him to live a separate life from his teammates and his earlier career he said the first thing he said was out because all I can think about is if they come and raid this place right now I'm as guilty as everybody else in the room so from that point on he was more or less on his own so he spent much of his spare time playing cards watching movies his mother was a frequent guest to his townhouse never went to clubs at the time he didn't even drink he said whatever somebody else might have been doing off the court party you know whatever that wasn't part of what he wanted to do he was orange juice and seven up that was his go to it wasn't until his third regular season game that he says he earned his stripes with his teammates against the box which was the bowls nemesis at that time Chicago was down nine going into the fourth quarter and Jordan erupted finishing with thirty seven points the bulls came back to win by a score of one sixteen to one ten so last dance Michael Jordan airs on Sunday nights a little bit earlier so next Sunday night want to catch another edition of that that's when you can catch Michael Jordan and certainly if you're a New York fan it's a reminder across some tough times because the New York Knicks were very very good during those years of Patrick Ewing and Charles Oakley and on and on and yet they never won a championship and usually the guy standing in the way it was number twenty three Mister Jordan terms.

"When he was with was a North Carolina in a disciple and he'd spent all these years under dean Smith and when he came to us with the like a very interesting you know background for sure and and he factored was the national coach of the year ninety three at the Indian and one of them left to go to South Carolina were quite honestly he didn't have the good instinct to get any no no no he did not yeah Eddie Fogler I remember the ninety three team you know and and who was the guard Billy McCaffrey was a chance do great player yeah he was he was tough and they had another transfer from Indiana and Chris Lawson yep and then they have some this other players and it stuck around there were there were very good for those to transfer coupled with what they already had party won the SEC change but your sons got drought who was Dixie heights board plated highlands high school and dad probably should have been recruited by UK but for some reason the apple fell the Vanderbilt I don't know how that how the hell that happened but I mentioned the career three point field goal percentage that record that you sat and held for years after you graduated Scott because I was hearing somebody talk can I previewing one of the players are this year's U. K. squad and said well you know he could probably he could probably hit thirty percent from three thirty percent seven seven times you're drawing on you got the wrong angle on the backboard or you or shoot an air ball what do you mean three out of ten is good this guy this guy talking to hit over fifty percent every time he squared up beyond that arch no they're they're moving it back a foot this year that's gonna be weird isn't you know what it is going to be interesting that that's one of the of the of the biggest rules changes this year that we have an impact on the game for sure so you know it's interesting and search in eighty six and eighty seven and came out at nineteen nine and then you know like in eight oh nine they moved back a foot the twenty nine in the now nineteen twenty it's like twenty one and one and three fourths of where they come up with these exact answers here Jeff I have no idea you know they're they're the kind of bizarre but but the you know it did certainly the the percentages are bound to decrease somewhat you know I had a father shot and in the end it's going to make it a little bit more complicated in the corners now with the international range because he had just left based on on the side in order to you know to to measure up all right let's talk this season real quick here for a couple of minutes anyway I was got drought watching U. K. last night take on and beat the preseason number one in that tournament Michigan state anytime you be Tom Izzo's team you know you got something going on but as I mentioned to somebody else is a UK fan I said it's not how you started so you finish and sometimes you know what that very true that had a great one left but for sure the the maxi kid can really play you know just a it's just a big time playmaker he wants the ball in his hand when it when it matters most but glee and hang in there also great for us and for U. K. but they also have four returning players from lectures came with right out of unusual for Kentucky so they have a night went really of of the incoming freshmen which they always have been gas of office stuck around so should be really interesting here in Lexington never handy camping do today to who are also participated in that tournament and it looks like coach case got another solid squad again what do is always going to be great medical course anymore they're just like Kentucky yeah they rely on so many freshmen incoming freshmen in order to to fill their roster you know in making great like they usually are so you know for years and years Calipari was the only guy who got the gonna let the the negativity per record all the stress of that certainly right there with them now yeah no doubt about it with my friend always used to make fun of Dick fi tell Ducas took their own TV more than re runs a leave it to be able to sensational all right we're talking with Scott drought back after a break on seven hundred WLW time for Willys fun facts John Adams and Thomas Jefferson signed the declaration of independence but George Washington did not it's true and.

"Compared to what he's been. All right. Let me do the dudes one eleven hundred games. I guess. That happens when you coach forty years. I mean, I think he's up argument. What he bet he's been. I think I mean, you're starting to see it without Zion. He's still got arguably three first round draft picks. And what's how would you grade the performance the quality that dukes played without Zion? The last five games. How would you where would you stack ring Duke nationally, five games, and they have three first round draft picks on that team? There are major contributors. Well, not counting Zion. They got three. Yeah. Yeah. I would say they're are in listed. I'm not saying that the coach K's doing some fantastic coaching job. And I think duke's probably five to ten where I would powering them without Zay on. But I I still I don't think you can say coach K's, suddenly like a bad Xs and os coach. I mean, this guy has done things that how many gold medals does does John wooden have how many gold medals does Jim boeheim or Dean Smith have this guy has done a lot in this sport. Oh, man. He's like Brian. I mean, that's what I'm saying is I'm not I don't think Mike Shosh ski has to worry about what his legacy is. I think more people than not think that Mike Szumowski. I mean, he he's how many more wins. Does he have than the next closest guy at two hundred two hundred more wins than Bobby Knight? Does I Don where's Jim bay? I don't know if Jim boeheim how many he's lost or away from him. But tracking that, but he's he's got a lot more than him. I mean, nobody has done what Mike shoshefsky is done. And I I mean, yes, he's done it for forty years. But he did it army, and he did it at Duke, and for people who don't know Duke before my chefs got their Duke might as well have been, you know, Tennessee Chattanooga. So this is a this. This is a guy who to me his legacy. What if he if he doesn't win a title this year? I don't think it affects his legacy. One bit legacy is cement. Agree with that. Do you think there's anybody who if they lost their best player that we like is there any coach who if you say oh your best player? Just got hurt. He's he's done for the season. If they don't win you go. Oh what a poor coaching job. That's never happened in the history of sports like if Bill Belichick lost a Super Bowl without Tom Brady. It's not like people would go. That's a big hit for Bella chicks legacy. No one would say that. Because it's absurd. I'm just saying no, no other team has three first round draft picks, and he's still going out there. I mean, what would the narrative be had an eighty percent shot went in with wake force. Tell me that that that's my opinion. It would already started in. I agree with AJ in this his legacies. Not whatever happens in this year. AJ's perfectly right on that one. His legacy cement and all I'm saying is right now in two thousand nineteen Mike. Chef ski accident owes is not dialing them up anywhere near what he was ten fifteen twenty. Years ago, and his best assistant coaches, he's had some really good assistant coaches. They're not with them. Won't you ask us that Marquette doing a great job capable his best recruiter that he's had the guy who recruited these players to be here. He's at Pittsburgh right now. So i'll. How many games in the ACC two games designed first year? Did you watch Pittsburgh basketball last year? But you here's that I'll say you does he have three NCW or three NBA first rounders on that team without zone..
