"So i mean that tells you just how much he's i he's been through it a. Coaching coaching on the defensive side of the ball. I will never criticize bringing someone in as a defensive or offensive assistant who has not much experience. Yeah is because it's different if it's like say a dirk koetter You bring him in as the offense coordinator and you know. He's not very good. He's experienced but he's if he has nobody above him which he did not offense he can be a detriment to the offense whereas you know someone like a friend bush. He's going to answer to dean pees who has even more experience. He's done a good job throughout his career had if he hadn't then he wouldn't have remained. You know in a position coach for as long as he has no. I'm very happy he was a four is a former defensive coordinator to with the with the texans coaching. The linebackers now end gonna have some real good linebackers to work with next year and moving forward and i'm excited to see what he can do with dion jones in with mike walker. No possibly even if we go for a guy like michael parsons in the draft is held. The linebackers are going to be leading this team possibly moving forward at least next year. And you know i can see what a what coach butch does does with them. Yeah he is. Fifty eight years old from athens georgia. So he's returning home. Went to athens clarke central high school. He is a former linebacker himself. So i think he is going to be coaching a position. He is intimately familiar with as you mentioned a non just extensive coaching experience. Going back to nineteen ninety-three Some more than two decades worth In the nfl. Which is again. I think you nailed it. I think when we're talking about you know this supporting staff the these assistance underneath. Ps i love the fact that these two guys are coming in Defensive line in linebackers coach. They're both coming in with just a ton of experience and a ton of experience at the positions that are being asked to to take lead up. So as you mentioned i think Especially with what we've seen under dean pees with what he does with the inside linebacker. I think we could see. Maybe another leap in performance hopefully For dion jones michael walker. lucon kuhn so really really interested to see how this experienced staff can transform the balcony. Defense right last name on the list. I think this is the name. I think people are gonna pay attention to for better for worse. Is a defensive assistant matt. Ps yes he is. The son of the defensive coordinator dean pees in twenty twenty. He was the finley high school head coach. You heard me correctly. He was in high school. He has high school head coach. Two thousand eighteen through two thousand nineteen he was the titans defensive quality control assistant and from two thousand sixteen through two thousand seventeen. He was the green mountain high school. Head coach. not a. This is the one position i think. Now we're we're we're hitting a clearly Not nearly as much experience from this defensive assistant that said he's not being put over A specific position group. I do wonder if this bit of nepotism was what convinced dean pees to come out of retirement and to come to atlanta so odd on all of that said whether your thoughts on matty's yeah absolutely was going to say this was probably one of those private conversations off the record where you know maybe arthur smith was like you know we have a steep assistant position open. If you come out of retirement you can bring your son with you. And you know wouldn't be the first time he was a on the titans defense stop technically under his dad and two thousand eighteen in two thousand nineteen You know it's it's something where i don't really have an issue over. It's not like he's being given The keys to like a coach linebacker Or the defensive line is just saw a general defensive assistant there to help out with whatever needs to be done a. He has head coaching experience in high school. But it's one of those things where i don't want specifically compared to kyle shanahan but know you can't help but look back at some of these coaches who were the sons of famous law coaches before like kyle and mike shannon. It's not the same as someone who wasn't the the son of prominent coordinator or coach. Could map keys. Was probably there with dean pees you know as a child of maybe you know in of those meeting. Rooms may be He was brought along with. He's been around the game of football his entire life. And you know possibly like I know there are some stories. About how kyle shanahan was brought in with mike and you know. He sat in in some of those like hopkins of meetings before as a child of so you know maybe map he does. Have you know a prominent future in the. Nfl learned a probably as much as he could from season. He's probably you know learning more and more from his dad moving forward especially being around an nfl. The way he was with the titans the way he will be with the falcons. And you know maybe he'll have Maybe offer dean pees retires map. Ps will be given like a shot not to be the defensive coordinator but to be know position. Coach Continue working his way out louder all on the defensive side of the ball. Yeah i think that's the thing will will pay attention to the next couple of years is to see what happens with this. Coaching staff. Ps comes in with the least amount of experience on the coaching staff. But again this is something to keep an eye on a again. I'm not a fan of nepotism in general. But if this got dean pees the door it may have been a move that was worth it just remains to be seen how he gets used in the impact. He has on the team as well. So i don't want to completely write it off. But i think some people were like little little bit uncomfortable with the move but it is what it is all right. Couple of special teams coaches brought in. First of all the the the falcons did hire as their new special teams coordinator marquees williams from two thousand eighteen to two thousand twenty. He was the assistant special teams coach with alliance in two thousand eighteen. He was the chargers defensive assistant and from two thousand sixteen two thousand seventeen. He was the chargers assistant special teams coach and then they bring in senior assistant. Steve hoffman. who is with the titans from two thousand sixteen to two thousand seventeen as our special teams coordinator two thousand thirteen through two thousand fifteen as their assistant special teams coordinator and was with the raiders in two thousand twelve as their special teams coach. What are your thoughts on these last two names as we round out the new coaching staff. While it can't be any worse than what our special teams has been like the past sard area very low you know. His unit can fall on an onside kick. Then i'll consider that a massive success. It'll be out with a marcus williams. He was aligned. Special teams coach past two years lines have been tenth in devi away on special teams. Devi away in two thousand nineteen and two thousand twenty. Which you know spoiler alert. Well ahead of the atlanta falcons who were in the bottom ten In devi away in twenty one thousand nine hundred twenty two well in twenty twenty. We were slightly better than in the bottom ten but still delights have been much better than us. I actually really liked the move to bring in. Steve hoffman As innocent because steve hoffman has been a special teams coach or an assistant special teams coach in some form or fashion since one thousand nine hundred eighty five in it says another one of those where bringing in a guy with a welfare wealth of.

"Losing to pre will eventually take a toll on the Steelers defense. I'm not sure I do think that it's problematic. They had to throw the ball 51 times against the B and C T Ravens defense yesterday. I don't know that that bodes well for January. I love me some Josh Allen. He plays a lot of hero ball, though. Um And I think we'll find a lot out about the Browns and the Titans this weekend in Tennessee defense that that's the story no one wants to talk about. It's not that good When you know when you start seeing the Dean Pees is ready to come out of retirement to save the day again. Headlines. I think it It kind of speaks to the fact that they have initially that that to me is the most fascinating game this week. The Browns and the Titans like the Browns come up in weight class, like beat someone other than the Colts. They did beat the cold, So I think people have forgotten that, but that that one's gonna be fun. You just were talking of THC, the NFC. I don't know how much it matters. But Seattle it was just announced got Josh Gordon back and they've already got a great receiver corps. So New Orleans there Packers of their How do you see that one? Um, I don't know, because I want to say that the same to them. They are the best team. They've won eight in a row, right? The same to the best shape, but Um, I don't think that the Saints can't be beaten by the Packers, Seahawks or even the Rams. If need be. I think they all could do it. I wouldn't put it past the Cardinals, either, but they have some issues. I think the NFC short answer is truly wide open. I think home field is going to matter. Um, but that's a huge question for the postseason. Does home field actually matter in the postseason if it hasn't mattered? In the regular season here, busy, man. We thank you for your time. He just got off NFL now. So you probably know more than we do is since we're not with the team anymore. They're down there in Glendale. But do you guys have a reporter? Either in the vicinity or camping out in Glendale. In this game, your whole thought on death. They're going to be up against it anyway, with all the injuries, but they're starting to get healthier and that ramp performance on Sunday Andrew was really impressive. Other was the the best performance. The two the two RAM wins, I think the best they played all year. So I just came here. Thoughts on what's going on with the 40. Niners. Do they have a shot to get in? Still, I think they have a shot. I think it's bad math form as you get a test, But, um, the idea that they're gonna play three games there, including the Cardinals Road game. Hopefully they get into a groove and find some comfort. It is really tough, and I think Volatile something at the end of the show today, we're Kyle had told the team Hey, look out for your teammates to make sure everyone, um, you know, is dealing with the mental health aspect to being away from your family and pick your pick Your brothers up. I think that's the biggest test guys just just how they deal with it, and I'm not trying to get overly political heir. But I do think it's It's a bit ridiculous that you know you're you're relocating a team to a city that actually has more Kobe cases and seemingly more community spread in the town. You're leaving. So it's It's rough on them, but, um, they have overcome so much, haven't they? It wouldn't surprise me if they get overcome this. They've got the Rams number. They prove that again. Now they've gotta prove that if you get some other teams, numbers as well. No doubt, Andrew always great to talk to you. Thanks, man. Likewise, I'm not going to eat a pizza announced it. You know, Once I go watch stepbrothers boat. Go watch, Okay, that's worth do that. Yeah. Go back. Thanks, man. Day, goats and hos hos. What he marriage was a scam. Yeah. He died like I do that Because once you go off the deep end like Yeah, yeah, That's the Riley, though, is sneaky geniuses. He's really good. Yeah, He's really a checks out very roles. He takes on some and will Ferrell as well. But I mean, John C. Reilly is a Complete actor. That guy he could, you know comedy as well as anybody, But then he can take out a meaty role. Heke is really good. And he had stepbrothers Ferrell is good, but I think I think I think John C. Reilly steals that film. He's great. Yeah, I think God just talking to guys back in student weaken. Do foreplay right here, Right. Do we have time or should we wait till 1 15? Let's not get out. All right, let's hit a starting times to be probably when she goes with us, you know, way tend to.

"Not as score you usually see associated with a Bill Belichick. New England Patriots team Bob Ryan what happened here. Well, there was an immediate immediate punch in the mouth. When the opening kickoff was returned fifty nine yards. And they cite titans had a seven nothing lead. Before the game was a little over four minutes old. They write down the field set the tone never looked back. It was one point with seventeen ten but not for long. They destroyed them. Both ends of the field. They moved the ball. Sometimes apparently at will. And on defense. The the the formula was not complicated. It was an execution of a formula that the New York Giants us twice to defeat the patriots in those two Super Bowl victories. And that is to put pressure on Brady up the middle. They came. Up the middle and they were able to overwhelm the patriots offensive line and get to Brady. And though he the numbers don't reflect in terms of total sacks and hits. And apparently, they're going to revise the look at the film. How many times he was actually hit? But he spent a miserable afternoon trying to generate offense thowing his worst percentage of the year. He is now going folks three weeks having thrown one touchdown pass total in three weeks. He he looks. I don't want to say old. He looks inefficient. He looks. If you didn't know better, you'd think he was some rookie that was trying to figure feel as way around. But he had an uncomfortable day to say the least Mike variable, by the way was the first time that Brady has ever coached against a a player he has coached against several assistance in the past. But this was the first, and he was absolutely positively outcoached by rebel and his. Offensive coordinator. Oh, yes. Another former patriot assistant dean pees. It was a mauling far more worse than the score indicated. Well, and Bob how and Mitch how long ago does that victory over Kansas City seem now, of course, three you know, forty three forty back its only October fourteenth. Don't don't run to the calendar. We it's not that far. But you know, at that point, you're thinking, well, that's that's going to be the, you know, the AFC championship game again and who's going to have home field. Well, now, you've got the old another thing coming here. And you know, what Rabaul did as you said going up against his his former coach knows him. Well knows Bella check. Well, as you said, you know, he's throwing in as he said afterwards fable and array of you know, he's got exotic blitzes. He's got delays anything as you said to catch Brady off guard and the second Terry's disguising coverages and switching at the last second all these things that people have done before. But it it works. So beautiful. Early. And of course, you've you've got immediately controversy afterwards. Right. Running running back. Dan Lewis talking about the patriots going cheap that it was personal for him. You also kind of had that that reminder again that Tom Brady is not twenty five or Saudi even thirty five. You've got the reverse pass play called in the Super Bowl. Tom Brady dropped that against the eagles against Tennessee. He caught it. But I'm sure most people saw that the stumbling and falling after six yards and then okay? The next play is a false start by the patriots just just oddest sink not on top of their game Brady and stuff going twenty one for forty one. Those are not Tom Brady numbers were used to especially as the season turns to November the the patriots. You mentioned the patriots still have a two game lead. So it's not as if you have to say, they're not gonna win the division. They're in good shape to win the division. But the question now. Tmz moving forward getting themselves ready for the postseason is this the way the patriots wanna go into the postseason? I think the answer right now clearly for Pella check is..

"It's not as if the patriots are some a bastion of value. They're not value. They are they are value lords. And they that was this misstep, but they lost by twenty four points to a team that has not looked like an NFL team some weeks. This is we're just we just talked about the Redskins. We talked about the Redskins style of winning game. Where Dave is hundred twenty yards today, creative. This is really good. Yeah. I wish he was on a team that allowed him to be really good all the time. He's a fantastically talented player. But this reminded me of a we're Redskins win in the sense that there were no changes. The no the. The titans defense is good pretty much every week. Yeah. They get a lot of stops. They're very talented. They've played extremely well. I think that dean pees is criminally underrated as as defense coordinator, again, just do, but they aren't good. It's the same thing with Washington. Every once in a while you're gonna have these games where the defense has a certain kind of a bar. They clear every week in terms of how well they play. And then every once in a while you also have NFL players on your offense and you're going to score some points. So that's what it reminded me. They're they're divas played well weaken and week out. They've they have not gotten blown out this tire season. And every once in a while an NFL offense is going to show up. I don't necessarily believe in the titans after this. But that's what it reminded me of. Did you see variable own ballot? Check on a double reverse thing. Now. So someone's very excited outside they're excited about our live show Sunday night. They're excited about our live show here Caesar's palace. So the the patriots ran to amateur hour reverse play, and I did see that. Yeah. And it was the one that we're not Brady caught a reverse pass today. Though ESO variable is asked why why he also ran a double reverse? And he said I wanted to see if it looked any better than theirs because Mariana caught that ball. Yeah. He sure did the same thing it again. I think their defense played extremely well. I think they have talent on defense. It really the only weak link has been Malcolm Butler is played terrible. But for the most part, they have a lot of competent guys on that side of the ball. And every once in a while, I think you're going to stumble into a game like this. I I didn't watch that game. In think this team is better than than the Texans that that was not might take. I just think that every once in a while when you're defenses good you can fall into. Game with us. Do you think that? Giving Tom Brady more targets and more receptions, rather than Chris HOGAN is a bad strategy. Yes. I do. Okay. Do do we want to talk about the titans chances or do we think this is like I need to see more? I mean, they beat a weird dead on arrival Cowboys team last week tonight. They're going to get Jason Garrett fired and the titans. Get you fired. It's essentially what's happening. Yeah. I don't excite over your Bill by I think Bill ballot. Check is every other team. The titans. Get you fired that they're that team this season. Yeah. I see more from the titans. I mean, he's still would you be more afraid of the Texans than you are the giants at this point. I guess what? I'd ask you would I be more afraid. AFC platinum if I'm an SE playoff team. I would rather play the titans because I think there's a Shawn Watson heat check. There's two Shawn Watson JJ watt element that does not exist. JJ watt wrecking your shit. Does. Shawn Watson inexplicably throwing six incredible forty yard touchdown where we're on the war on the same. Patriot. We've seen it before. Are you a quick break?.

"I believe he's that caliber of player like sometimes expectations for guys coming off of major knee injuries are a little bit out of, you know, out of sorts sometimes. And I think that he'll play better. You know the second. You're the last eight games of the season than he did. You know, for the few games we've seen so far this year, and I'm gonna say patient as well. Most the most talented team in the division and look. I know it's early and it's going to be a dogfight with all those guys really in the NFC east. But if the end of the day, it's still have a lot of faith in the in the eagles defense, and I know their offense will get better, get healthier as they move forward. They still need to protect a little bit more consistent than what I've seen on the season for you. I think anytime you have a quarterback change, if somebody new at that at the quarterback position from cadence on down, it's gonna be real. Yeah, I knew someone needed it figured it was. Alarm smoke, you are. Ninety. Telling Tim, we're talking about which is Super Bowl, Quinn double blow seventeen point. Fourth quarter doesn't blow seven point. Fourth quarter lead, how it locked games down with that defense with that pass, rush in the fourth quarter. That's what was most alarming about this game. Yeah. The past protections been issued. Jason Peters struggling physically. I think a little bit at this point. They don't have a downfield threat to keep defenses is they can make some trades and you know how we Roseman will. But I'm concerned that that defense wasn't able to put that game in its pocket. That to me is what stands out. And plus I keep hitting this point. This division hasn't had a repeat champion in fourteen years. It's not a coincidence. It's always competitive. It's always tough, and it's always unpredictable. Favorite stat? No, it's a good one. Not a bad one to us. We'll see. Well, if you will, the chargers survived the titans last week in London. Mike rebel opted to go for too late. Instead of kicking the extra point was after scoring a touchdown in the final minute of regulation, Marcus mariota and company could not convert on the two point try and therefore here we are again talking about these late game decisions. But in this case, Panicker patients on the titans, chances of winning their division be patient. My my, my answer is pretty simple. The division stinks, it's it's a division. No, you can't. And I think that when you look bad division and you look at, you know, the teams that can't run the football teams that are struggling with their quarterback player. They can't protect their quarterback for all of the problems that the titans have had offensively and they've been bad at. And for the most part, they've been bad on offense. They've got a quarterback that's got a unique skill set. He's hard to defend because he's such a good runner. And I think that defensively under dean pees, their defensive coordinator and some of the stuff that Mike variable do their the run game, we'll get going little bit, and I think the titans will be one of those teams that's hard to beat each and every week, even if it's. Go ahead. Well, I guess I'm gonna go. I'm gonna remain patient for a lot of series. He's talking about is again. I like Marcus mariota coming out of up and you know, van with Tedy Bruschi all year available with others. Alchemies guys can't score points. They not run the ball. They've got some pretty good skill. People in Marcus mariota has both very accurate as well as mobile and can avoid rushes of, you're right. BNP's is done a masterful job with the defense. And again, the divisions bad other, this whole divisions up in the air, and and these guys might as well. They have good chance anybody. And I liked the quarterback, I think makes the difference titans fans. They don't like the now you can grieve. Either they're going to be patient because looking at it isn't going to be it is going to be a close division, which music come down to tiebreakers two of the titans wins or against Houston and Jacksonville already..

"Team is just completely on with their offense and after watching them a couple of weeks ago, I'm so surprised that this is what they look like after they. I mean, they looked so good against the eagles and then the ravens come out and do this to them after that awful egg day. Last week. I mean, we're talking about the Jags we're talking about the bears, are the ravens really the best defense in the NFL. Yeah, you know, it's interesting because I brought this up earlier today and I said, you know if the Jaguars keep getting pasted, but they had the last two weeks and everyone keeps saying, oh, well, they're the best defense. The Cowboys pasted, the best defense, the chiefs put up over twenty points on the best defense. Well, it's simply they stopped being the best defense. That's how this works. And when he starts look around the NFL and it's kind of like what we talked about earlier in the show, every every defense has kind of a very strange on inconsistent resume and the new, the Baltimore Ravens. There are team is in the NFL turnovers last year, pretty consistent throughout. I love their coaching with Martin. Dale huge upgrade over dean pees when it was made. And I totally disagree with that, I think is a very good offensive coach. Well, I think for the ravens it was it was an upgrade. That's fine. I mean, I think they're unit was awesome. Last year. I mean they were a top three unity year ago. I think this defense is very good and has been very good for a couple of years. Sure. So they sack Marcus mariota eleven times who plays for the team around talking about anymore because they're just too boring. That was the last just, you know, the last time someone was sacked eleven times. No, I don't even know how it's possible. Well, it happened because I'm much tell you that was possible. The chargers did it to a quarterback in twenty twelve, not quarterback Greg McElroy for the jets. Yeah. Wow. Okay. So anyway, McElroy macaroni, eleven sacks..

"If there was any difference whatsoever in the game, winning chance Ben with the offense, four sacks defensive coordinator for the for the Tennessee titans, dean pees, who we talked about being aggressive. He was dialed in. We didn't make them pay when they blitz. He was bringing corner. He was pointing Corazon blitzes stunts twist. Linebacker blitz ac- was doing all types of stuff in the eagles offensive line was not prepared in the running backs, especially especially window. Small will criticize him here exceeded good day on the ground. Terrible day in pass, bro. And you know, overall Carson Wentz goes thirty three for fifty three forty eight touchdowns thought he played well thought he looked better that he did in the game last week against the Indianapolis Colts. You look at the receivers that we got back l. Sean, Jeffrey, obviously, making an impact on the outside. For the Philadelphia Eagles getting that stack and get one over the in. The bucket from from Carson Wentz were we haven't gotten that type plan. Any other receiver that. Who. Of course, the red zone touchdown, man. So eight catches one of five for touchdown for l. Sean, Jeffrey thought he played fantastic. Zachary was dominating the middle of the field, especially after wisdom would yard and Kenny Vaccaro for the titans went out with injuries. He was just dominating the middle of the field. Ten catches one hundred twelve yards. Nelson had a bad day so we can talk about either the offense of line not being prepared for the blitz or not being able to communicate at not being able to pick it up along with the lack of help from the running backs. We can talk about Nelson Adler struggling. We can talk about the penalties. We can talk about the fumbles. It was Loppy play from the offense at the end of the day that that halted some of their drives and led to them only being one for four in the red zone and ultimately not to affective. I still thought overall good day for the offense. Would you think then really great day for the offense until they got the ball in the fifteen yard line. Obviously, that's gonna cutting on. I mean, like, you know, eagles kicked three field goals with Jake Elliott on the roster and none of them are longer than forty, right? Like, that's, you know, that is now. Now what you would expect eagles kicked field goals of twenty seven thirty and thirty seven yards. Mike slows drives that ended at the ten, the thirteen and the twenty kicker is to those drives were end of half drives, right? So you're limited amount of time that you have, but both of them, it was the yonder Carter Dr starting to Tennessee thirty nine and then it was the turnover. The volunteer Matic interceptions I believe started at thirty three, maybe twenty seven or something like that. So two very short field both at the end of the game, both with huge momentum. Appoint swing opportunities and you had chip shot field goals out of those. The fact that the eagles struggled on the short feels Mike leads me to a take a, have a take. Are you prepared? Here we go, oh, we have a take. We have a take sound effect. I don't think we have to take effect pedal, have to put it in post, go pens, gonna take for the foreseeable future, not necessarily for the whole year for the foreseeable Congo's offense already putting conditions on it, Maury, like heading the bet. Eagles base. Offense should be hurry up. Oh, for sure. Teams should know the eagles will becoming out hurry up on. It shouldn't be used as like a all. We got a big play as long catch by alshon Jeffery. Let's get a move in. Then h should be every drive. We -ticipant the eagles to come out as a hurry up offense here my take, here's here's my might have number one, go ahead. I was shocked to hear. Daryl Johnston, say on the broadcast Peterson had told him directly like we don't wanna be thirteen personnel team, which is weird to me because Doug doesn't seem to me to be guys like I need to be in these personnels. Yes, let Doug is like I wanna be whatever's most effective. Thirteen personnel was affected sano fees, speeding Johnston, something on. I mean, he's just kind of talking nonsense, but the eagles have on their roster, especially when it's healthy..

"He missed it? Yes. When you start facing those live bullets, it is totally different. But the eagles would be different offense when they get the running backs back when they get Alcyone. Jeffries Zach urge cannot be their leading receiver. He's one of the three tight ends in Oakland and San Francisco that leaves their team in catches and in yard. So how explosive you going to be with Zach ertz I don't think that much so outshine Jeffries coming back will help out Carson in game number two as a starter and they're running backs. Philadelphia should be able to run the football. They are at their best when they can run the football last week, how were they doing that? Very, very limited with all the injuries. Chris and teams are having more success against the titans by running the football versus throwing a football dean pees, their defensive coordinator. I know he's gonna try to throw a lot of exotic pressures at Carson went so CTO point that run game is going to be important for the eagles to stay on schedule with that offense. Second at six better. Third and three are better not being obvious downs in distances where you have to throw the ball. All, and I think there's an opportunity for Doug Peterson to keep that titans defense off balance. You saw a little bit in that colts game. They had one word audibles, four Carson Wentz. He's barking at the line of scrimmage. I did like the innovation of being able to utilize that bubble screen off of the zone Reed action. That's something that we haven't seen from this eagles offense. So rather than have Carson Wentz being you're running through it if the defense over commits to that run game, then you can tell the bubble out there to the slot. So I think that's an inch to the little twist in this offense. But again, Doug Peterson showing you that he's got a lot of answers to be able to offset the deficiencies of Carson Wentz until he gets his legs back under him because one of the things that makes win special, is mobility. C brought it up at Shan Jeffrey. He is cleared for contact. He could play this weekend, Chris canny week four against the titans, which is a good game for him to come back to. What are you expecting from him? How much could he actually contribute again, another guy who hasn't played in in quite a long time. Well, I'm expecting this Philadelphia Eagles offense to finally get back on track. They haven't looked like themselves the entire season even in the preseason. So going up against the titans who's a team that I think is false flagging because you look at their first three opponents. You've got the dolphins the Texans in Jags, not exactly. Explosive offenses. I think this is going to be the biggest for them this season by far and I'm not sure that personnel wise they're going to be up to the challenge going against that eagles Spiegel skill position core. And even if you think the dolphins are actually more explosive offense, they're getting credit for that's team. They lost to the titans. They beat Houston. They beat Jacksonville in awful game. Don't realize that. No, I don't don't take time to watch that nine to six game, but your point on the eagles often to spot on how the eagles right now to in one because they have basically top ten every category defense, they've the number one, rush defense, they're numbered. I think eighth in points allowed ninth in yards. They have been excellent defensively ofensive -ly aside from red zone efficiency. They haven't done anything. Great. This seasonal -fensive -ly I think that can. Changes Carson and alshon Jeffery, which is a huge addition..

"So I was very encouraged by how he played particularly on that drive that salted the GameBoy. I've said this. Last couple of years Carson, he's a superstar. He didn't have to play well. And we number one for me to know that like, you know, the guys can play this game in which is can play it at a high level. Also, I think that we, we think that a knee injury is a major injury anymore, and it is really not especially for a quarterback. If you look at our top quarterbacks in this league that being Aaron Rodgers, he's had three knee procedures, Tom Brady shattered his knee in the pocket drew Brees. From other extent, he his, his shoulder had to be reconstructed. So a lot of times these injuries we as people covering game, we think that when was the last time we've seen a premier players career altered by an ACL. It's very, very rare. These are like normal surgeries now, so we should expect him to build a comeback and play at a high level. We shouldn't expect in the first game with no training camp, no preseason games and missing the type of action that he missed it. Yes. When you start facing those live bullets, it is totally dif-. But the eagles would be a different offense when they get the running backs back when they get Alcyone Jeffries Zach urged cannot be their leading receiver. He's one of the three tight ends in Oakland and San Francisco that leaves their team in catches and in yards. So how explosive you're going to be with Zach ertz. I don't think that much so out. Jefferies coming back will help out Carson in game number two as a starter and they're running backs. Philadelphia should be able to run the football. "Just feels like there's something stale with this whole organization. I think everyone inside and outside of football was shocked. They didn't make a at least a QB change or or 'specially a head coaching changes. You just to kind of push reset button and you had some assistant coaches defect from the Bengals. I think because of that they went on and took new jobs because it's just something that's gone a little bit stale in Cincinnati. Ravens. Obviously, if they beat the Bengals at home to finish last season, they end up make the playoffs. Gosh, how how? To how to ask this, this defense? I know you really liked the defense a lot of veteran talent on the defense. They seem to have really good games against really bad quarterbacks last year. And in the end they couldn't stop Andy Dalton in their own building to make the playoffs. Are we perhaps overrating the defense and going on the ravens reputation a little bit DC any problems with this team defensively, especially, you know, anticipating, they'll, they'll be, you know, maybe an average offense this year would be an optimistic look. I d I'm pretty high on the defense because they can do the, they don't have to blitz generate pressure, but they're one of the more creative better designed blitzing defenses in the league. We'll see what they are done. Martingale their new d. coordinator. He's going to take the same approach, philosophically that they're previ- previous coordinator, dean pees took Martingale. I don't believe he's been in, fell play caller before though, so we'll see how it goes. But I think the ravens are. They're always so fundamentally sound. They were not as consistent last year as other years on defense, but there's enough body of work with enough of these veterans. That's a pretty sound defense overall. Let's what do you think about the Browns by the way? What say, what would be a happy season for the Browns? What's what sort of the high end of their win total possibility here I picked him at four and twelve. I've said for years, if I thought they had six and ten type of talent there, not as they're not set offense or defensively. Got a lot of questions, of course, and what I really wonder about with them. And I'm curious to see how it goes now because they do have more players at this coaching staff has had the say over, they brought in some of their guys. Now it's not the previous front offices guys. What would the schematic approach p because this approach has not always matched what you want with your talent, and they've put some guys in some difficult positions, I think, but they've got good, proven coaches and Hugh Jackson, Greg Williams at d. coordinator there. So I'm curious to see how it goes now that those guys have some of the guys they want AFC south Jaguars the front runner. Again, I want to ask you one specific thing about the Texans to Shawn Watson, obviously, last year of had the breakout game in week three, the Texans change what they do. Offensively midstream. Last season. I think that was an advantage and as much as we saw very encouraging things from Watson that not only from the fact that they were they were sort of catching opponents off guard with the new stuff they were doing..

"Now we don't have to see it up in the booth, but I think Petten that that that's going to be a nice little element to Green Bay here. If that's at all works out, that's a team that well, they're always dangerous with their in Rogers, but I think I don't want to say making the defense less complex, but I think that's something else we brought up. Those certain coordinators have been around for so doggone long. It's like, man, we, we kinda have the book on you, and that's something Green Bay. I think they may be, you know, very glad they made that change come here in a few months. Yeah, in Green Bay also reuniting with you'll fill them to be the offensive coordinator this year. So when you look at the Packers, I mean, this wasn't team that had a ton of talent but had some holes, and maybe they didn't have guys. That were capable of maximizing the talent that was there, and I love that you brought up the offense of wine because that's one thing about Green Bay. We know Aaron Rodgers. I mean, he's phenomenal. He's elite. He's the best passer I've ever seen on the run. He can make wide receivers out of guys that are late round draft picks. But one of the big things that was holding Green Bay back was the health of that offensive line and now getting some more depth, not having through a guy like your backyard of finally stay healthy. That's something that's huge for them. When you give Aaron Rodgers time, we know he's gonna pick apart every defense in the league. It doesn't really matter who you are. So for Green Bay, I agree. There's a very, very bright by sign for the Packers here for the upcoming season. Let's say what the Baltimore Ravens they've already played do preseason games. They played the hall of fame game, then blew the Rams and the first teamers look strong in that one seventeen. Nothing exiting the first quarter against Los Angeles. And you know, I obviously, I realized we're bouncing back and forth between the north divisions of each conference, but you know, Baltimore's another one. Of these teams while maybe they haven't had the success and maybe you can blame that on Joe flacco. I don't know who wherever you want to put your blame on that one, they always find dudes. They always have good depth, good talent Ozzie Newsome and company draft really, really well. And it seems like the song remains the same this year. Yeah, and this is I'm sorry, but that nother coaching staff, I just love even though they changed, defensive coordinators are going on from dean pees. He mysteriously retired and then unretired and hours for Tennessee. I don't know what that's about, but Don wink. Martindale is a heck of a replacement. I love their line coach, Joe deal asandra just getting a chance, a couple of chances to watch him working up close. So it's like, man, this guy is intense intense cities and then tar ball. What else can you say mardi morning wig, I think, yeah, this is a team shirt. Last year was rough. I in other situation with injuries, not only up front but know outside that this is definitely a group needed a whole new whiteout room, say what you want this, John Brown supposedly just making noise every single practice. I'm here nothing but great things out of. Him and Crabtree looks pretty decent, but they exciting element has to be the Lamar. Just even that that that went front against the ran, the he, he makes three defenders miss and they had no chance of touching him. It was just he's, he's already in the matrix as soon as he decides to run. I think how he could have had that touchdown three different ways as what the reality is, and we just saw one way I, it's the that that's upside. He has, I think, is the real excitement here. And then the simple reality is, you know, just like the other rookies, you know, they kinda know what they have and in Griffin, I don't even know if makes it, but they're gonna wanna see more and more of Jackson and just kind of, you know, the like, like I said, just more exposure, the better at this point while the games don't count and at all, he looks really good again though..

"Are getting better hey the browns roster can't win i understand that i get it they got to win but i it's pretty strong right now what they've done the last two years it turned over the roster but i think going back to the afc south with the colts what's scary is the rest of the division got better i mean i think houston's going to be better with honey badger there of course i know the injury of the quarterback is going to be a big deal but they're going to invent a whole new offense around him the jags we know they're not going anywhere they got better this off season well good draft and then the tennessee titans i mean there another team dion lewis malcolm butler great draft you got ray bullet head coach dean pees coming as decoys leflore is the offense coordinator so that's where i look at the colts and go they'd better hope andrew luck's back because not only afc going to be better but they're their own divisions going to be a lot better and those three teams all in the range of twenty something to one to win the super bowl the jaguars twenty two one texans twenty two to one the titans twenty eight to one two of those three teams made it the final await the texans were foreign twelve and they're twenty two to one underdogs to win the super bowl and some would say at four and twelve how can we expect that to happen but if the shawn watson plays wiretowire like he did when we saw him at his best last year the texans will be a lot better health is going to be a key for the texas it's going to be important for every team we know injuries are going to happen we don't know who we don't know when we don't know how a team is going to respond to it will they have the depth to get it done but injuries will be the ultimate wildcard and if the texans can avoid them the texans can go deep into the post season we still have funny more to come we'll be back with more right after this.

"Hi like what they've done because they're going through a position change your scheme change and they're going to run the three four defense the dean pees is used to running you know dean pees was retired and mike vrabel sonny corleone him and pulled him back in so i think landry to me in a three four defense at six to two fifty two translates to that kind of stand up outside linebacker walk them up online scrimmage put his hand down on third down and let him pass rush i think he has the capability of developing into a good three down outside linebacker but it's gonna take a little bit probably needs to get a little bit stronger to be able to handle that outside spot but he's gonna play right away and i look rashawn evans i'm with you in a three four he's gonna play inside that's a guy who eventually will be able to call signals that was a big time pick and they screwed the page it's arguably jumping up in front of them to grab a guy like evans i think the patriots are pretty smart on as well so good job of john robinson the general manager there and mike gabel of maneuvering around the team who they thought was going to grab their player that's the that is the intrigue of the draft that's the whole okay you sacrificed a third round pick to be able to move up well what did you get from it there you go you went up and got a guy that you think is going to be starter and that's the reason why you move up in a draft to grab a guy dwayne is in detroit michigan next on the gresh show on cbs sports radio.

"Leads me to believe dean pees is going to blitz a lot so which means they don't edge rusher is not great on their team kevin dodd has not developed so i would normally say i probably another edge rusher can't have too many of them just like we've settled all day but if they're gonna blitz a lot then they might go safety they might go in inside linebacker they could use one of those with avery williamson gone maybe unmovable versatile interior middle of the field type of player who can expand their disguises in their blitz packages because that's what they should be doing with the corners they have yeah i mean look i think that's durin james i think that you wanted a guy who was a traditional linebacker traditional linebacker size you'd probably looking at a rashad evans from from alabama evans a three down guy as a prospect in the nfl like a good quality three down potential guy yeah yeah i think you know you you'd i i said vander is the consolation prize if you miss out on tremaine edmunds and i think evans is the consolation prize if you miss out on vandereycken what would give them evans yeah derwyn like durham i get why it's ridiculous he's not he'll probably be drafted by this point in real life and then our mom's not but tennessee there's they've got one of the seven or eight best starting safety tandems in the nfl it's hard to imagine them going after someone evans when they look at evan taken reason then he'll play sixty five snaps a game for us they took james they would say he probably gets thirty snaps because we're not going to have three on the field all game i mean maybe they would i don't know they deem did play with adam levine.

"Right i mean the titans culture with rabl and dean pees at d coordinator and matla fluor as the oc i mean i just really think that's a team that's on the rise say the rams with with sean mcclay and wade phillips they're they're on their closer they're all awesome i mean it saying to the collide yes and they they could probably use him more than anybody else right so where do you think he goes i think he's gonna go to the rams wow i think he's gonna go star power i think he's gonna go wade phillips in la all those last year you know he likes that aspect of it that just the one that to me it just seems to make the most sense that defense will be unseen evil insane wow i'm legitimately worried as an eagles fan yeah you should be they get him they're going to be in the conversations for the favorites too win the super bowl or at least one of the favorites to get there do you see how dramatic pause was i thought it was going to be like like the the chance to be superbowl all right so that will be obviously interesting to see with sue another defensive lineman sheldon richardson signs a one year deal with the vikings and i think in terms of talent this was actually bigger for the vikings than going from case keenum to kirk cousins i think getting a guy like sheldon richardson on the vikings d line where we know they've been insanely shallow and they have like they've had some talent but those guys everson griffen have been expensive to do so much i think is a huge move for sheldon they still need depth though on that those only word me about the kirk cousins conversation yet we you and i have talked about the vikings defense of front fizzling out that the end of the last two seasons and that's true i mean look at everson griffen sack production some of the guys individual production altogether yeah just lacks because they're on the field too much sheldon richardson though they needed that legit three technique they never really got that you got lynnville joseph is truly a he's a shade knows a nose tackle.
