Just this past year, that number is only 6% here in the U.S. right now. So why? Are we Americans seemingly so reluctant to buy electric cars, even though experts tell us we've got to stop burning that fuel if we are to curb climate change and cool the earth's temperature overall. So does put that question to our car guy, Mike Barrett there's the unknown. Also, what do you charge it? Sometimes it's charging infrastructure isn't the easiest, especially in some states in the U.S.. It's almost nonexistent compared to D.C., which has a little bit better than others, and certainly not anywhere, and you're like California. So yeah, that and people want SUVs. They want big SUVs like we've been looking at the last couple of weeks. And for right now, that's where people's money is going. And not really adapting to the electric car as fast as some other countries. Now, they do start to offer. I don't know about the biggest SUVs, electric, but you will be able to get something larger in an electric car or at least a hybrid. Yeah, definitely we'll be looking at some of those here very soon. We got the plugin hybrid seems to be where a lot of them are right now. Hybrids and plugin hybrids where you're getting 20, 30, 40 miles all electric power. And then it switches over to the gas engine, so it can be a lot more economical than saying the Cadillac or the big grain wagon you ever been looking at. So it's slowly but surely getting there, but still it's going to take a while to get that there and yeah, you still have to power those things. So it takes a lot more energy when you drive a bigger vehicle like that. So you need bigger battery packs, which adds more weight. So it's definitely it's a catching up game to the gas cars for sure. You're going to follow police direction to get around using some combination of Adam street northeast W street northeast third and fourth street store east I would assume to work around in any case you're following police direction. Rhode Island avenue northeast between third and fourth blocked for a crash investigation. The southeast Southwest freeway is quiet, the two 95s are issue free for the moment we will move to Virginia and the outer loop of the capitol, but you have to work still there, but the delays have more or less disappeared. It is still a slower ride through this work zone on the outer loop from the George Washington memorial Parkway all the way to the dulles toll road, single left to get by, but doing so with fair ease on 66, the only fly in the ointment right now of which we are wearing the main travel lanes is going to be the work zone we have eastbound between the Prince William Parkway and suddenly road two to the right getting by again with pretty fair ease on the dulles connector road. Traveling between I 66 and the capital beltway, watch for work that apparently has set up or has set up again just before you get to one 23 unclear which lanes are blocked if you've got eyes on this one because we have no camera here to help us out. Now beyond that, nothing else anyway all the way through rasa and the Roosevelt bridge, there are picking up the works on 66 westbound as you head west to route 7 to the bellway, that one just about wrapped up in clear so good news for folks traveling westbound early this morning. Virginia bellway, the added loop works out to the American legion bridge gone at least out of the travel portion all lanes are open. There's still some work on the shoulders there, but again, not blocking any lanes any longer. And if you're traveling on 95 in Virginia, the works on remains as you head south of Dale City toward the car rest area, although it looks like they're starting to pick that one up as well. No movement at the scene. I assume they're waiting for tow trucks. In the meantime, you're going to have to work your way around. Canal road, both directions blocked between chain bridge and Arizona avenue, northwest. The rest of the district is in good shape, Maryland, 50 westbound, the work zone after sandy point state park heading toward bay Dale drive. It's one to the right to get by, as you make your way from the bay bridge toward Annapolis past that, everything is good on the Virginia side. 66, lots of work I had, especially west bat coming out of the city, it begins just after exit 66 for route 7, it does not let up until exit 47, and that is suddenly road, and it's going to be a single file in various stretches of this 19 miles or 20 miles worth of roadway that you're going to have to negotiate. The ride is much better than it was, but it again is still a little bit of a nail biter. If you've got another way to get around from the beltway heading toward manassas, do that instead. Eastbound is your work is going to be after 28 Centreville. Right left lane getting by there. And then before and after route 50, right lane gets by the work. 66 express lane should be up and running and taking your tolls now to have gotten any official updates on this one yet, but they were supposed to turn on the transponders at midnight and start charging for drivers to use the express lanes between 29 centerville and 29 Gainesville. You will need an easy pass or an easy pass flex to negotiate those lanes. You can't find the new car you're looking for, try if it's way used car. Two right lanes pass and work some but as of late you've been getting by without delay and don't forget the analytic express lanes again unavailable between the entrance and Springfield 9 66, this part of the express lane project on 66. Now 66 westbound is your approach to the beltway, the only thing closed is the exit that takes you down to the adult final loop express lanes and off ramp is closed, but the true lanes are open. Further west on 66 between only street and one 23, the works on blocks of left lane, out Manas is approaching two 34 sadly roads, the single right land closed, and then between the Prince William park playing 29 games so single file left, get you by the road work, rich hunter W two traffic. Again, the road shut down in both directions due to emergency work. Best bet if you're trying to get to BWI early, 95 of the Baltimore Washington Parkway better options. There's also emergency work on 32 westbound right at the split for I 97 again if you're continuing on 32 west, you squeeze right past the emergency roadwork. Now works on it in place, George avenue, and both directions between New Hampshire avenue and Greg wrote the alternate traffic in one direction at times. It works out and on one O 8 between New Hampshire and Hawkins creamery road, again alternating traffic one direction at times it works out in college park route one northbound between lackawanna street and cherry hill road, a single right lane block by the water main break so again, stay left to get by there. Southern Malone sat down 5 point lookout road, near Clark's wrestling, redoubt to a single left lane that works on there, an update for folks on the Baltimore bellway, the crash on the inner loop just north of I 70, traffic now gets by two lanes to the left past the crash and delays are quickly easing, rich hundred WTO traffic. "Better us You're with dean lane Saturday morning April 23rd welcome to the weekend everybody Two 28 in the morning on WTO video Good morning to Ian Crawford in the WTO traffic center Okay now I will go along with you because you've got a little bit of good news from our work zone in Virginia On the outer loop of the bellway the work so it has contracted I should say it's now just blocking one left lane after one 23 maybe they are done with the tonight's version of the overhead work or the stuff that's going to go over the top of the main lanes of the capitol beltway The express lanes on the outer loop still blocked after west park boulevard but on the main line we've got three right lanes getting past the work on the outer loop On the rest of the beltway we are actually fairly quiet between McLean and Alexandria It has some crash activity reported on the outer loop going into this refueled interchange but I believe that was on the shoulder in May in fact now be gone On 66 the big works on is going to be eastbound on 66 diverting to exit 53 for route 28 take that northbound toward westfields boulevard then double back at westfield's boulevard onto southbound 28 follow the science at 66 eastbound back in business In Maryland I should say on the outer loop our crash activity before branch avenue looks like we've got some more lanes at our disposal At least one lane getting by the right maybe two now getting by the crash activity on the outer loop before branch avenue Ian Crawford WTO traffic Oh we're in a great streak of weather after what was a fantastic Friday high temperature of 77° pulling of sunshine your Saturday similar although slightly cooler with a few more clouds.

"With dean lane I'm WTO case Never miss a moment WTO P news 103.5 FM On Friday morning march 18th welcome to WTO P at four 38 Rich hunters with this in the WTO P traffic zone On the bellway in Maryland on the antelope approaching three 55 crash remains on the right shoulder all lanes are open to get by without delay Still cleaning up the single vehicle crash southbound two 70s further after democracy boulevard remains blocked for the moment as a result of that single vehicle crash tow trucks on the scene trying to recover the vehicle which was about 30 feet off the roadway So just be where it may take a few more minutes But the two lanes are two 70 themselves as you come down from Frederick and head on to the past old Georgetown road toward the interlude to bubble you're in good shape there as well No delay getting past democracy boulevard just sort of an annoyance for folks who want to exit there and won't be able to for the moment Now if you're traveling a 95 and the Baltimore Washington park where you're in good shape 50 from Annapolis all the way into northeast Washington you're in good shape and looks like even some of the heavy fog at the bay bridge has started to dissipate just a little bit Can't say the same about the 14th street bridge headed from Virginia and Maryland or vice versa I should say Virginia and to the district very heavy fog there and visibility of less than a quarter mile Please be careful crossing the bridge In either direction And once you're on the freeway in the district a little bit better out there but still you want to take it easy out there and remember low beams instead of high beams and reduce visibility The overnight utility work at constitution and third street that wrapped up in cleared all lanes have been reopened Rich hunter W two traffic Your Friday morning is starting off with very thick fog and low visibility across the area that dense fog advisory goes until 10 o'clock in the morning Once the fog melts.
