You think I want to get on another airplane and wear a mask? What do you do? What are you going to do when you go to work and your office says you got to wear a mask to walk into the building? I don't know why I keep having this flashback to this screaming match I got into with somebody at my at my office in Florida when somebody said you got to wear a mask to walk, you know, 30 steps from your car to through the empty building into your empty studio. I said, this is insane. You better do it or we're not going to allow you in the building. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed at the time. And the consensus, not that I'm any big deal, I'm not trying to brag here, but the consensus was if Mike doesn't wear a mask, we're not going to wear him wear a mask. But see, I'm in an unusual position. I'm in an unusual place. I'm fortunate and privileged to be in a position where I kind of get to do that. Although I suppose if my company really wanted to be hardcore about it, they could have said, Mike, you want to lose your job over this? OK, but nice knowing you. And listen to the way the Democrats brag about it. Listen to the way the Democrats are so they love they want these mask mandates so badly. This was something called the Freedom to Breathe Act, which would have prohibited any federal mask mandate from being imposed on an airplane, a public transit system or school. J .D. The tour de france is carbon footprint and the impact on the environment and last year. I made an episode of kilometers era about this very subject and in the process of researching and speaking to climb experts. I realized that there are two sides to the equation. One is cycling's impact on the environment and the other is the environment likely future impact on a sport like cycling as temperatures. Roy's now i've been doing some research into what's cold wet bulb temperatures and this is pretty steep learning curve for me up in reading about and talking to people. It's basically an expression of both temperature and humidity and a wet bulb temperature of about thirty. Two degrees celsius is the point at which outdoor activity becomes impossible. Because the body simply can't cool down either by sweating or sheltering in the shade. And we're still a long way off that at the moment but the trend is upwards and wet bulb. Temperatures are likely to become something that impact on a sport like cycling in the future. But more on that another time. We have had some questions emailed in and this one by peter. Burgess is typical of the questions we get asked. He wants to know about the tools carbon footprint whether there are any initiatives to reduce the number of vehicles traveling with the rice. There's you do not own anything when it's all said and done other than the team bus and some whole jerseys in some bikes now also seems like there should be a pension system for riders. Because there's only a small portion of the the bike racers that are that are set for life when they retire and retiring at thirty five from the sport we saw it in. Nfl this slide. Also it's like it's like getting a car by getting a family wagon like a big nice family wagon that you can use for everything it's the same thing So yeah i mean it's it's a big. It's a nice initiative of like morton to raise money. And i think he's doing pretty well You know it's going to be a lot of new bags going to those to those kids and You know a side note here in this. This isn't about me. But this is how i i met. Which was when we were doing. Our heavy fundraising and not only had lance continued to come and sign autographs which helped our fundraising go through the roof He would have the whole team. Come down in the morning and we do these these broadcasts and you would always come in. That's where we first met. Many many many years ago and so the fourth for that was huge. Still know the name of the show. Yeah and sandy. That's right right right. We we did about a twenty year. Run in and raised Thanks to the help of of lance and postal just over two million dollars. I can buy most of these bikes right and the service that you were getting inexperienced you were getting was not matching now. I love dealers. I think there are some fantastic dealers. But then there's some less than fantastic dealers right so you might walk in by fifteen thousand dollar bike and not get that experience. The person that you're speaking with not very knowledgeable and so we wanted to own the whole ecosystem so we are responsible from the presale to the postel to delivery. And that's the other thing too. I'm looking at these fifteen thousand bikes and say something happens will. The dealer loves to blame the manufacturer the manufacturer to blame the dealer three weeks later. You still don't have a bike. That's a problem. That's not okay when you're spending that kind of money so i didn't think the service level was on par with the price tag. Another example is this is one of your listeners. One of your listeners.
