revisionist history slave drama that would explore a nation that saw the south wind its fight to secede from the union is officially dead the drama that was in development from game of thrones showrunners David Benioff thanks and DB Weiss was met with toxic reaction when word spread about the project for all the latest headlines information tune the SportsCenter on ESPN radio all throughout the day UFC two forty six is this Saturday night you could street stream the fight live on ESPN plus I'm sure Dana white is grateful for the return of Conor McGregor thank you Dana for being on with us in terms of money makers for you guys who set the ratings bar among Ronda Rousey Brock Lesnar and McGregor who is best and is there anyone in their company yeah what we do when you think about when you talk about McGregor being at a huge superstar here's one of the biggest superstar in combat sports history with them Mayweather Holyfield sugar ray Leonard he's at that level and when you look at it you have the number one biggest people people of all time right in the may well they can be used against how many of the top ten the guys the global map of super star one of the biggest did you see I've heard and read about you being interested in becoming a boxing promoter legit and I I'm sure you've been in this particular job for a long time so I'm sure you crave new challenges all the time I'm curious though if your dealing with making McGregor Mayweather happen is the thing that has led you to say Hey I can do this too I want to be a boxing promoter well I I mean originally what I was getting into the business what what my partner Lorenzo and I were going to get in the box that's what we were going to do and then the this whole you know we started taking you just fell in love with the sport started to meet some of the athletes and then this whole you let me think if that happened yeah and you know we come up with okay with it but we were always going to get involved in boxes and so when's that going to happen what's gonna look like when Dana white is doing boxing promoter what have no you know grand illusions that I either I'm gonna I brought it in six the sport ginger I think that it's going to take time just like this did you know I I'd like a a five to seven year plan for for the marketing side and I'm sort I'm not head first and bike fell within a number you know see what I can do you just want to take Oscar de la Hoya's money don't you that's what it is you hate to our are you **** idiot were you feuding with these days that's higher on the list and della holy nobody the fight but everybody there is but a lot Gail longhorn is just a bad guy he's a lot higher maybe just an all around from a guy as you feel about your red Sox cheating not a lot the manager with a lot of your would you prefer we talk about your patriots to everybody loves to hate on Boston because all we do is when and she UFC two port where do you because you cheat one Saturday night stream the fight live on ESPN plus do you remember her story you remember a climb like Jorge mas the dolls in your history in the sport when you're talking about a lifetime grinder all of a sudden becoming a star yeah you know what's crazy about him so when I first started computers care of like that and if you have talent with the fifty kids there is going to be really good are you going to be a world champion all this stuff and he always had this career where he works what about your role in and somebody you would never expect them to lose grip and then all of a sudden you know this kid became exactly who we thought he was going to be you know six years ago it's amazing yeah he told us the last time he was through here that on his last fight he got a cut of pay per view in a way that didn't sound like it had a lot of precedent you're good negotiator what happened there to make that so because I would assume that you don't like to do that very often Robert looking to catch both of those kids have been here as you know where the main event and a very successful event that you know getting the whole thing so yeah they got what they deserved and and dot I was very happy with the you know the success of that event and you know how well they did can you tell us is there been any sort of changing your thought that Jorge mas with all is too big for Conor McGregor yeah yeah I think I think there are all these guys with a hundred seventy pounds are are too big for part of the record this is not correct when I say that but you know this guy one of one hundred forty five problem World Championship right then we moved up to a hundred fifty five pounds everybody was like Eddie Alvarez is too big too strong he had still hard and he well much better wrestlers in Qatar Qatar knocked him out usually made it look easy in the first round at a hundred seventy pounds Qatar has won one and lost another good to great discrepancies between a hundred and forty five and a hundred seventy dollars problem meeting here got a hundred seventy pounds.

"The parent company of ABC news and I got the chance to sit down and talk with the boss about his new memoir the ride of a lifetime. stations we discussed his path to the top and where he sees the company going in the future including the role that audio will happen the Walt Disney company as it continues to grow but we started off talking about statues that you get if you worked here long enough I've worked here for eighteen years one statue of Mickey Mouse next up December I'm honored to to sit and talk with you have worked for Disney for eighteen years soul I my last statue was Mickey Mouse the the sorcerer's apprentice. to get Simba is. one is number twenty is Simba so I although I think that you should make it nala because we'll symbol was there you know fighting in her corner Mantoloking nala was back with all the hyenas doing the real work by the way I few saw the new line king that we brought out and you compared to the older one which is a phenomenal movie nala as role in the movie was more significant more powerful than the first one which is a reflection of our desire to update the quality of our story time and there really is how you have been doing things when you talk about inclusion you you mentioned that a lot and and and hoping to get even more of it in the Walt Disney company especially at the higher echelons how are we moving to do that here it is well it is vital for a company's success particular global company in today's world to reflect the world the customers that you're trying to reach a world has never been as diverse and that's not only caught on camera or in our films with characters but it's behind the camera from executives to creators and so we work very hard add in fusing a culture that accepts the you know the basically the of the importance of the value of inclusion and there are a number of areas I point to right away that I'm extremely proud of that just looking at the women who are directing upcoming films of the company including Marvel's two new big films coming up one of them is the a Charles with women directors as a good example of that or the show the Mandalorian which is on Disney plus a Star Wars or is in the women directors that are directing that or Ryan Coogler who directed Black Panther so I think we've made a lot of progress there's definitely room for a lot more progress though one of the one of the things that was said about the the Disney it because it's gotten so huge especially recently in variety saying something hello there is now a monopoly on mythology and and and you're not a believer in that at all I mean there's. the stories out there to be told is in there I think that's one of the most wonderful parts of our lives and our world is just how many stories there are to be told and no one entity will ever have a monopoly on storytellers or storytelling and look I even room in my life I obviously I I consume a lot of Disney but there are other stories that I've consumed I just adore game of thrones would be a great example that I watched every single episode of those nothing to do with Disney and they'll always be that what you think in the last episode the last season I was a fan I we work yes I was an express that to to DB Weiss and and David Benioff yeah I thought they had an impossible task of wrapping up that multi season multi season opus and serving all the characters and all the stories and all and fans and you can't please everybody all the time I thought they did a great job so I want to ask you about the the future of of the company and the future of audio specifically here we are we re banned branded ourselves as ABC audio we've taken the radio out radio still a very important part of what we do but audio is sort of where we tell stories and how we tell stories and the development of podcasting and how do you see that going and fitting into the larger picture of Disney do you I've always believe that technology is one of the most powerful tools in the hands of a great storyteller and then you think about let's just take Steve Jobs as an example and. what the inventions that he's responsible for starting with the I pod is a for instance obviously the iPhone and what that has done in terms of people's ability to access entertainment information each other story telling weather is video visual form or audio for and I think it's great being platform agnostic which when you take the word radio out you really doing that you're saying we're not just radio we're sound or audio and we want it we want to tell our stories to you with sound however you want to receive it whether it's on your iPhone or some other than some other fashion so I think it's a very exciting time I happen to believe that storytelling weather is visual plus sound or just sound is going to be a core part of the who the Walt Disney company is for very long time expanding into the podcast world as we know we've seen great expansion is an exciting venture for us and for ABC news yeah exactly how how about Disney plus I've talked to so many parents especially young parents who are super excited for this there like November twelfth is that the date the date that it's coming out of that I haven't had that to the net but I'm probably I'm probably more efficient if I did your forehead so the exactly you getting our stars content into different platforms again at the basis of all of it is the story and that's just what we just talked about with audio to its worst were telling great stories with the TV shows or whether they're movies and we're making them accessible on new platforms for people to access or or consume how they want to when they want to where they want and so as we look at this it's a if it's a necessary in next step for us not just to keep our product relevant but to serve consumers in more compelling way is using technology it was a core principle my when I got the job it's one tell great stories infused store. retailers with all the resources necessary to make them great Pixar Marvel Lucas Star Wars they're all great examples of that but then use technology to not only make the stories better more compelling but the reach more people and more innovative and relevant ways well Bob I heard the big boss man here Disney thank you I appreciate it nice to be here coming up we'll sit down with Rachel den Hollander. the first person to publicly accused gymnastics Dr Larry Nasser of abuse she discusses coming forward.

It's a bit of a late movie schedule, though this week. Isn't it Dwayne check? We're kinda year before the summer. Memorial day. So there's not much go see event it again. But there are a few things General Magic. It's a indie film, but it's at the oriental theater, it won the Milwaukee film festival's best of fast was considered one of the best defense last year. And it's really interesting. It's, it's about a tech company. It's a it's a documentary about the tech company you never heard of that was developing phones and pocket computers before apple ever got into the business. All apple store thunder and many of the founders went to work for companies like Google and Twitter and Samsung. So doc is described as a history of Silicon Valley and the early tech revolution. And then the time cinema has kind of a a an outlier as well. It's called Charlie says, it's at the time cinema is a dramatic portrait of the women who fell under the spell of Charlie Manson, Leslie Van Houten Patricia carry one goal. Susan Atkins, Matt Smith. Who was Dr Who plays Manson? And I it's a story of a psychologist trying to rehabilitate the women while they're in prison. It's it's being described as a feminist portrait of, of, of the Manson murders and John wick his movie theaters. They've stumbled on something with this John wicks series, heaven. They have haven't they extreme violence and killer, is, is it is kinda cool. He's a cool guy. And he's got a good reputation as an action hero. And this is called, para ballum that said subtitle, he plays, a super assassin and in a hurry, I movie this is the third. I think they killed his dog, and I it's sort of been a revenge wick ever since now. Is he plays this assassin with a price on his head? I could buy a guy named CHAD'S to house gave stunt man turned director and member of you called it a gun violence fantasy with a video game pair of and primal, film Noir. So, yeah, fan of John wick are up there dog journey also opens. If you wanna little up Alec. Glenn. From the movie violence to sequel dog's purpose about a multiple incarnation. Dog was fishing, it is to protect human, Matt's. Also opening this open this week. There's a lot to get to on the TV side of things starting tonight. You're as big game of thrones fan, as I know the valley tonight, just tell us the details about your own viewing party. And when we should show up I don't even party. My party will be turn on the wake my way. But basically, I I'm going to be there with everybody else's van I think during seventeen eighteen million viewers every week with these slash websites. And, of course, as you say tonight is finale, I have to admit they've dug themselves a bit of a whole story wise, and it's going to be hard to see how they hide altogether. Never going to be a lot of, of quarterback money quarterbacking after emperor happens. There's already been a backlash a half a million people find a petition online to remake the houses now. We just, you know. Ludicrous on the basement, extreme fans have this title minute disappointed with the turn of events in the last week's episode and other things last week this character who was. Kind of a hero hero of the peace you just write this whole community with their fire-breathing dragon. So I think a lot of people are thinking that they that they are old something a little better, and we'll see if they you know, are happier with the with the final episode of tonight. And, and meanwhile the show winners from game of thrones, David Begnaud off DB Weiss are going down. It was just announced this week to, to, to buy Disney to carry on the Star Wars film franchise into a to two thousand twenty two and beyond. So, you know, they're doing okay, even though man's don't seem to, like the way that game of thrones is ended up. We'll see if the finale can live up to the hype. They rarely rarely do also tonight on real Jeffrey Dahmer a documentary that again. And you mentioned Manson earlier with that movie. That is out. There's some fairly. Yeah, there's something about that. Would you say genre or just those individuals that are captivating decades decades later? Well, you know, there's also making a murder on links in there as well tonight, it's a downward documentary on the real cable channel, whatever that is. I guess I, I don't know. Is it a movie channel? I don't get wheels. There's an endless fascination with this story story of, of the Milwaukee cannibal Charlie Manson, as I mentioned making a murder, and I'm thinking of the other one that's just on that plex about another serial killer. And these things just have a life of their own. And there is a genre of crime fans, which I understand if it's a story. Well told I don't hear what the what it's about. But there does seem to be a lot of reputation when it comes to something like the Dahmer thing on the other hand is a Megan Markle documentary out tonight as well. It's the complete other end it on ABC tonight, so you could either particular point Bodo give us a little bit of a run through the thumbnail of the week ahead including something Wednesday night that you and I talked about a couple of weeks ago, and I'm really excited about it. See all in the family, Jefferson's, remake Jimmy Kimmel's producing it. It's going to be a live broadcast on Wednesday night. They're doing the premiere episodes of both the jeffersons and the on the family with all your generation SARS. It's on ABC. Woody Harrelson is gonna play. "Last week, we had the series finale of veep last night. The big bang theory wrapped up rather, well, by all accounts. I think I was looking at the press this morning. Yeah. Fans and critics alike seem to like it. Now, the biggest one of all this month is happening on Sunday. The wrap up of the game of thrones on HBO and dawn. Take it away. Some fun facts. Fun facts, three here that might just make people laugh of this isn't going to spoil anything. But if you watch the show, you know, that you hate a guy named you're on great joy, how can anybody like him. He just showed up on the scene. You know this last season, and into this one just to recap EQ. He is basically took over the throne the iron islands, which is the great joy family just showed up, he was off gallivanting his whole life, and then just took it away from theon in his sister. So he is a villain on the show. So I found this little tidbit that the actor who? Who is on the show and actually this last episode had a big fight with Jamie, Lancaster if you remember. Oh, yeah. Yep. Won't say anything more about that, but he actually in real life was Jamie Lancaster's family nanny. So you're on grey joy used to watch Jamie Lancaster's kids. Yes, he was. He was his Manny. Yeah. I wonder if that helped him get the role. I mean, maybe. Yeah. So anyway, this kind of a weird little tidbit there and they obviously, on the show, don't like each other. But, you know, in real life, they're pretty good friends say, Manny. Wow. That is a fun fact isn't it? Wow. Okay. Another fun. Okay, another fun. Fact, is that Searcy Lancaster? She, of course we all another villain on the show that her, she never appeared on screen with the character. Braun. If you remember. Okay, Braun is sort of a vagabond. He helps Tyrian Lancaster escape and was just sort of a character that, either you like him, but you also hate him at times. Yeah, they were real life, a real life couple for years, so Searcy and Braun. And they actually hate each other, and they have never appeared on screen together because of this. Yes. Yes. Yes. So they dated before game of thrones then. Yeah, exactly. Whole. Okay. It's like Juliana Margulis and. Oh, what was her name on the good wife? Yes. Oh, she played oh my goodness. Oh, yeah. They hated each other. Yes. Okay. And then my third fun. Fact that you probably already know, but it sort of goes with this theory that things are rushed in the, the end of this series, always talking about this yesterday that the creators, David benef-, and db Weiss, the show runners behind the show. The reason why the series is rushed, and it's we're not getting all the episodes is because they want to move on. It was announced in February by Lucasfilm that they have hired those two creators to do the Star Wars, spin off, so they are they're making Star Wars films, and they're done with game of thrones. They wanna move on and do the three films that they have been commissioned to make so. That's why they're like they don't want to do the series. They wanted to end it in a lot of the, the actors are like, well, I wish my wish this could have gone on longer a lot of people, George Martin, as expressed that he wanted more of the story in. So that's the real reason. Why all of this is sloppy because they have already moved on to working on Star Wars. Oh. They're done with it. And they just don't really they're not putting their best effort into it..

"And so that slow just as many people are theorizing that he's the one training with Ray when she's doing all this hopeful think, they really want them to smash shipping and shipping them berry. I it's troubling. How attractive he is for how damage to you. Like, I think most women go like this isn't good that I feel this. So I hope they person. I hope they don't pursue that. I hope they don't pursue pursue the redemption. Ark either I based on where we left Kylo in last Jedi. Even though I'm I think they did some interesting things with the character in terms of his arc in that movie. But I'm left in a place where I don't see how Kylo can operate within the story in a satisfying way. Without something guiding him, you know, like I don't want to see a third movie in this trilogy with him just kind of like going around. However, he pleases trying to you know, wreak havoc on the galaxy or something he needs he needs something to be pulling him forward. And I think that in this case it's going to be the emperor. Oh, boy gets more. We're not done talking about us Star Wars right now. But I do have to remind you we're gonna take your live Twitter questions at the end of the show, send them in using the hashtag collider movie talk. All right rolling into story. Number three. Now, this is yet another Star Wars story, and it's an update so recently as last week. We had Disney CEO, Bob, I reveal that after Skywalker. The films are going to be taking a little bit of a hiatus. But when the movies are back, they are probably going to come back strong. Because while speaking to e w Kathleen Kennedy said the following. We're not just looking at what the next three movies might be or talking about this in terms of a trilogy. We're looking at what is the next decade of storytelling? So Kathleen Kennedy said that the creative brain trust behind. These movies are going to be mapping out strategy and central to that strategy are a new film series from Ryan Johnson. And also game of thrones show runners David Benny off and db Weiss. They were all hired separately. But Kennedy also told he w that they're actually working together to plan out the future of the franchise. She said as they finished game of thrones. They're going to segue into Star Wars, they're working very closely with Ryan. All right. I backing up a little to the hiatus Haley. Do you think that's a good idea where you're surprised that? I had said that. Yes. Good idea. No, not surprised. I think that it's natural given the course that this franchise has taken since Disney brought it back, and how the response has been across the board that there's. Wise to take some time to now plan your next leg out more than you planned out the first one. And I think Disney having seen how well that works in the MC. You is it's not surprising that they'd go. Hey, maybe we try that instead of the breaking bad method where we just kind of do it as we go along. I think it's not going to be super long hiatus because there's a lot of money in Star Wars, and they already have these people writing them and by saying there's a hiatus they get to immediately amp up the hype surrounding the next one. Why always want to call it the Skywalker instead of the rise of skywalk? Rise of these Skywalker. You'll have to check my articles for Typos all the time. But I think that that instantly generates like a lot more interest because it's like, oh the last one you're going to get for a while. So you'd better save her show up. It's smart. It's smart across the board. It doesn't surprise me. I think it's just the right thing to do. I figured they were going to do this as well. But you know, it made me happy to hear you just say that it's not going to be that long of a hiatus because it really it shouldn't be. I mean, and it's also it's not like we're in the position right now. Even though who knows what could be going on behind closed doors where we have more than just the Mandal orient coming to Disney. Plus, it's like if the Mandal Laurean is going strong between episode nine and whatever comes next in the film franchise. Yeah. I'll be happy. But I need that entire gap filled. And I have a feeling a lot of other people out. There are going to want that gap filled. And you know, I know there's still there's comics there's books there's the clone wars series. You name it. There's a lot of other material out there. But I do think there's a significant amount of the crowd that specifically. Goes movies, and then a maybe factoring Mandal oriented at this point. So I just I hope they closed that gap pretty quickly Roka. I'm curious what you make of this idea of the game of thrones show runners working with Ryan Johnson. Because I think maybe it's a sign that even if they are developing separate trilogies, maybe from story perspective. They

"And if you're just joining us, my guest is Henry Winkler who got his start playing the funds on happy days which made him famous around the world. And now he's on TV on HBO in the series. Barry, which was co created by Bill Hader who also stars in it. He plays hitman and acting student and Henry Winkler plays his acting teacher. So in addition to your acting, you also have co-authored a series of novels about a boy named Hank who has dyslexia as do. And it's in a special typeface, which I thought was really. Dyslexic people. What there wasn't an dad in Holland came up with it and the publisher penguin Putnam chose the typeface. It was the first time it was ever used in America. And I have to say I am so proud because I could've used it. It just makes the I track so much more easily across the page. You'll what makes it different. The the sending line of the t the descending line of the g the c is there's a different distance in the in the in the opening of the c they are more weighted at the bottom of the letter. So they sit more comfortably on the line. So that they don't float there are so many things he was a he is a graphic designer. And he's like his children are dyslexic. And when you look at the novel itself when you look at the page go, I get it. It's just so much more friendly. There's a little more space between the letters to. So that it's yeah. It's easier the letters. Yeah. And it slows down I think the slows down the speed that you have to read because there's fewer letters and words on the page. So well, let me just. Yeah. I need to slow it down because it's so difficult for me. Even today. I cannot sound words out the word schedule is written out and taped to my computer because I use it all the time. And if it wasn't there, I cannot sound out the word or visualize spelling words, you know, how you said earlier that used to embarrass yourself at the Monday, readings happy because he had such trouble reading a new script. Yes. There's a similar thing happen when you're reading berry. Yes. We're sitting around the table. And sometimes they people who sit next to me have to point out that I have dropped a line that I just missed it on the page. And I'm sitting there thinking, oh, God, I wonder whose line is. There's a big silence here. It turns out. It's may. So is still embarrassing. Can you just say like I have to do it more? Slowly, I can say that. And I'm still embarrassed. Yeah. You know and not like that. But also, I want to be perfect, and I hate when I missed the timing or I screw another actress timing because I have screwed the lineup so badly or I have to go back again or I hate it. Sometimes I just I hate my brain. Well, let's not healthy to hit your brain. No. Well, I'm not healthy. So you know, I can't end the interview without asking about jumping the shark. Sorry. Sure. You're you're tired of talking about this. I'm not not not with you. Thank you. So the expression has come to mean win. Some thing has kind of ended when it's time is over. So I want you to describe the scene in happy days where you literally water ski over a shark. That's kind of confined in a lake that you're water skiing on. Okay. So three facts one. My father the short German said to me every day for years to Galle more shows that you've Otis keep adad. I don't think I'm going to do that Notaro. Tell him you water skis, valium portent. I finally tell Gary wants you to know I water ski. Okay. That's number one. Number two. I was a water ski instructor at blue mountain camps. In Strasburg, Pennsylvania. And I loved water skiing. We we water skied on male pack lake just north of New York, and I did all the water skiing except for the jump itself, which they I I don't know how to do that stunt and they brought somebody in from Sarasota springs, Florida. When I hit the beach at the end when I've jumped the shark I land on the beach, and I step out of my skis. And I'm smiling. I'm thinking is great half, the smile is Henry going. Oh my God. I can't believe you did that and the other is the funds going right here. I am. I did it. I'm very cool. What was it about that scene or that episode that came to signify when something's time is up when it's over, you know, what I don't know. To them of the fawns water skiing was just like the last straw. The only thing is it wasn't to the audience 'cause we were number one for years after that. So it didn't much Matt anybody I should mention that senior wearing your leather jacket over your SIM, the the lining is ripped out. And I think I had very nice legs at that time. So how does it make you feel that you're seeing came to define it's over? Okay. Here's the truth. Are you ready? Yes, I'm ready. I don't care. Okay. I think it is wonderful, and we're still talking about it in two thousand nineteen. I think this is all great. This is America. Henry winkler. It's been great to talk with you. Thank you.
