Had a week off last week during a little summer, but appreciate everyone coming back. This week after the week off, we have the great Peter Schrager from Good Morning Football and FOX on the show this week. Football quickly approaching, get into a lot of stuff with Peter about the upcoming season. Big media changes in terms of TV, broadcast stuff, Peter's crazy schedule, doing Good Morning Football every morning, Monday through Friday, and then off to California for FOX. So great stuff with Peter Schrager, always a great guest. And of course, following Peter, we have Salicata and Trainor Thoughts this week, where we get into a variety of topics, including the scandal with The Blind Side, a little bit of the Johnny Manziel documentary, talk about some NFL win total over-unders with Sal and much more. So Peter Schrager followed by Salicata on this episode. Quickly, if you missed it, two weeks ago, last guest was Christopher Maddog. Russo got tremendous feedback on that podcast. Everyone who listened to it seemed to have loved it. Really tremendous feedback with Maddog two weeks ago. So if you missed it, check that out. Bloomberg 99 one to Boston Bloomberg one O 6 one to San Francisco Bloomberg 9 60 to the country SiriusXM channel one 19 and around the globe the Bloomberg business app in Bloomberg radio dot com This is Bloomberg business week Our next guest is an entrepreneur in every sense of the word he wants ran his parallel operation out of his mother's basement Well now Damon John is a CEO of the multi-billion dollar lifestyle brand that he founded we're talking about fubu He's also CEO of the marketing firm the shark group and one of the stars of ABC's long running series Shark Tank It of course offers budding entrepreneurs the chance to secure business deals that could make them rich Well now Damon is combining his pension for investing with his love of board games and game shows by backing a new interactive streaming platform it is called game star plus You know what I think it is I think you know I think everything's going to be in the metaverse but I guess the simplest way to say it for all the listeners is kind of like Netflix for game night And me being a huge lower of games and I think board games I think through this last two years all of us have picked up some of that old love for board games This was just a new delivery of form of delivery of board games And that's why I thought it was an absolutely amazing investment So all right you made an investment like where's it going to go Tell us how it's going to play out here I'm thinking about our audience there investors and trying to understand as the technological world continues to really evolve Where do you see this all going Well I think that more people are going to start living in the metaverse and or online and doing what they're doing but you're bringing the simplicity of game night like a Netflix And I think that for the initial customer we're launching and we already launched family feud really great IP You have obviously Steve Harvey there After that we have seen it with Mario Lopez and jeopardy with Ken Jennings a wheel of fortune and there's so many more slated These are all titles that people really love You average out about anywhere from 15 to $20 for a game But this is a subscription of about $3 3.99 a month and you are going to get tons of games and this is definitely something that I think some of the streamers are going to want to acquire down the road because they need to get more eyeballs and keep more stickiness on their platforms And I think this is a way to do this without having to compete for more content from other streamers So talk to us about this platform You mentioned family feud that it is out there and it's streaming So how many consumers are using it What's the stickiness of someone who signed on and then stays with it Well it's too early to tell the stickiness because we just launched it and you can go to target dot com and get it or go into target because there are some physical components to the game some hard You may want to have but it's a little too early to look at that and listen after being on Shark Tank every year seeing people tell me how they're going to do a gajillion dollars in the first week I can not think about estimates like that How about half a kajillion Do you think it could be happening to you Yeah I like the fundamentals of knowing the IPs there knowing the celebrities that are knowing my reach is there knowing people are moving towards streaming in all different forms and knowing the metaverse is coming around I like all the different things that are in position for success So is the game right now Damon is it one that's meant to be played when people are physically together or is it to the point now where you can actually play with people who are not in the same space as you and you do this over the Internet Well out right now is going to be physically together but it's going to grow to that I mean there are games that exist in apps that exist They're all separate that obviously you can play separately That's nothing new But right now it's physically in the home because then you'll be able to stream all the games to that home and the physical components of there too a couple of those pieces So right now you need to be in the same household Hey David you know as you guys build this out content content content and we see it with the streaming services but that's going to be true for this platform as well Is it fair to say that it's going to there's going to be maybe as you guys build it out and add content in terms of profitability it may take a little while I would say so but listen the two founders come from both the board from the gaming world and from the licensing world I think that there's going to just be a lot of massive IP there And if I would have we already saw this years ago we thought the Netflix was something wasn't going to happen now You have Hulu Netflix and all these type of things I think this is going to be the new norm What other titles are you thinking of You mentioned that you have seen it with Mario Lopez jeopardy with Ken Jennings Wheel of fortune coming You already have family feud out How else are you thinking about I don't want to call it content necessarily It is content But it's a little different in the sense of like you know it's interactive Well we're looking at all IPs you know one of my favorite IPs is monopoly of course but deal or no deal or the price is right pyramid I think all of these IPs are going to be on there What's the acquisition process for getting that intellectual property Is it really tough to get monopoly It is really Well it's somewhat self when you have people like myself Steve Harvey the great founders who worked over at Sony and various other places We all have the right connections of Mattel and Hasbro and I think that they're always trying to expand their IP and put it in different hands as well So I don't think this one is going to be as challenging because we're kind of like in that blue ocean space with this and there's not too many other competitors in this area delivering it on the same platform So I think it's going to be fairly easy That's daymond John founder and CEO of fubu CEO of the shark group bestselling author and as you know him probably one of the stars of the Emmy Award winning Shark Tank on ABC I'm out I'm not investing I always love when they say that or not You're listening to Bloomberg businessweek coming up celebrated and inventor dean kamen is back with us Talking about how we got Disney and thousands of other companies to work with him I think this is going to be the new norm What other titles are you thinking of If you mentioned that you have seen it with Mario Lopez jeopardy with Ken Jennings Wheel of fortune coming You already have family feud out How else are you thinking about I don't want to call it content necessarily what it is content But it's a little different in the sense of like you know it's interactive Well we're looking at all IPs You know one of my favorite IPs is monopoly of course but a deal or no deal or the price is right pyramid I think all of these IPs are going to be on there What's the acquisition process for getting that intellectual property Is it really tough to get monopoly It is really well it's somewhat self when you have people like myself Steve Harvey the great founders who worked over at Sony and various other places We all have the right connections of Mattel and Hasbro And I think that they're always trying to expand their IP and put it in different hands as well So I don't think this one is going to be as challenging because we're kind of like in that blue ocean space with this And there's not too many other competitors in this area delivering it on the same platform So I think it's going to be fairly easy Well what's interesting too this whole idea of family game night right That I think about in terms of your potential audience has to make it even more attractive Yeah because listen you have three to four generations that can live in a household and still all love and value the same game I mean when we think about all the shows that are on wheel of fortune jeopardy and all these shows that are still on the list And I just did celebrity family feud the other day And it brought me back to my childhood I haven't watched family food in a family feud in a long time and I had the most amazing time And I think that when you bring in families around where all of them can appreciate these legendary IPs the legendary games I think it will be a new boost to the gaming market in this sense So the board game market.

"So when you do get through this You're not going to look back and kick yourself in the butt and say, You know what? I shouldn't have curled up in my house. I should have taken the opportunity to get my financial house in order because as Victoria, it's going to be beaten in your head. You're going to hear it going. Oh, she told me this too shall pass. I didn't believe it. But this too, shall pass. And it will. I can assure you of that. Let's talk about Eric, one of my favorite couples in Dallas as well. This is another Dallas client. Um And Eric has this situation. Um And what he has and he called about is that you know I have a pension and this is a very legitimate question For a lot of people. Damon, I have a pension with a lump sum value of, you know, 500,000 plus Plus, I have all these other assets of over 4.5 million And I don't know if I should take the pension, though in a lump sum. You know, and just take a stream of income like Social Security is a stream of income. An annuity is a stream of income. Should I take a pension with the stream of income? You know, or should. I mean is it And is that going to be enough? I mean, there's all these questions he has so You know? Do I take a lump sum? Do I take the income stream? I don't know what to do. And furthermore, I just got this document giving me choices because that's very kind of them. They give me choices. It's 15 pages. It's not a choice. It's a book. It's a manual little a little light reading a little light ready, You know, front and back, too, by the way of instructions of making and why you should make a decision and how you can make a decision And guess what. It's overwhelming. Of course, it's overwhelming. You tell him it's OK, Eric. You have every right to be overwhelmed, So he's smart enough. He's known as long enough to just call and go. Hey, hey, we had these other problems. You fix those for me little nagging things. You got my money that nobody would give me. Okay, you You've done that for us. Can you fix this problem? And of course we can. And the thing is, is we give you options but we can take The language, the overwhelming, you know, small reading this time because of this little light reading here front and back pages 15 pages of Greek and we can take it and we can translate it for you. When we don't know. What do we do? We get on the phone like Damon, If you just joined us, Damon talked about earlier. We get on the phone. And say, why. Are you not sending my people their money? That was, uh Another situation that was Margaret and Susan. It's their money. Why are you not sending it to him? What do we need to do? What? We need to get this done today? So in this case, Eric has to think through it, and we need to give him options, though of okay if you take the lump sum That you would want to look at different types of annuities to see what kind of income extreme is that going to bring you? And is that immediately today or later down. You know you want to hold it for five years. Do you need the income? Now? There's all these decisions you get to make. When do you want to turn on that income strength? There's and then there's the fact that you really do have to explain Damon. Um, the fact with a pension once you turn that on theirs, and you're talking to early, their young Yes, you're talking about 30 years. Not even 60. You're talking about 30 years. No inflation rider protection. Not on that money. No, that money in that pension once you decide That's all you're ever going to get. And you need to look at a projection to look at. You know, we can do that for you. We show a projection of you should include a minimum of 3% inflation. And right now, Hey, I'm going for 30 or 40. Daymond is just inflation is absolutely out of control as we all know, And that isn't that is a concern and it should be But you think Oh, this is great. We turn on this income and I get that every month. You must remember and keep in your mind and be aware that inflation is going to affect You get, you know we were talking about clients earlier $5000 a month right now. Well, that $5000 a month. Five years from now, It's not going to buy you the same stuff. Right? Yeah. I mean, if you've got real estate and you're charged, in fact, the only way the income goes up as if you raise the rent exactly. But if you've got income, that's your income. That's your inflation adjustment. But if you've got your money invested Well, now you kind of baked in those inflation adjustments because you know you're targeting rates of return that should be beating based on your risk tolerance anyway, should be beating inflation. In one of the things we told Eric was, Look, we've already got this money that that's invested. We've already got this income plan cooking for you and your and your wife, Kathy. So What we're going to do now is take a look at. Okay. What are the income options versus what if we took the lump sum now? Number one you don't want to just take the lump sum is one big just a distribution because it will be completely 100% taxable right then and there, so that's an option. Let's just get rid of it. Yeah. So your options are take is you can get people can I Can I do that? Well, sure you can. You can do it. Is it smart? No, that's double downing. That is double downing on stupid. That's right. So you know we're going to compare what if we roll over the lump sum into a traditional IRA and kept it invested and continue growing? Can we generate income with it? Absolutely. We can have income..

Margaret Susan Eric Dallas 15 pages 100% $5000 Kathy five years Victoria 60 3% 40 30 today over 4.5 million 500,000 plus one Damon about 30 years

Diy why customers while keeping our associates safe and another point. I want to add. Jim despise quarter. You'll we we had such success that we're able to pay out in our associate profit sharing program. This is specifically for hourly associates. Ninety one million dollars in bonuses just for the second quarter. That's twenty million dollars over to target payout level and we're going to be paying this to our hardworking associates out there just working every day to create this great environment for our customers and as a former hourly associate. I think it's a great gesture for all companies will do what we can take care of our sources doing these really difficult. Times does change the feel of stores and we know that. I know this is a day to celebrate. I know you've been taking some share from other people. don't get to rub your face him. But i cannot. I would be remiss not to talk about all the things you're doing for minority business people and i wanna know how that's going because it doesn't get touched on by the analysts yet in many ways it's heart and soul of lows. I sat down with bill. Bowes my head merchant marissa's stalberg my chief marketing and brand also and we came up with an idea of how we could do us in a way. That could be fun interesting. And engaging and we borrowed from the whole shark tank philosophy of having a pitch program so we're fortunate to get a daymond john from shark tank. He's working with us for the second year row. And we basically put out the word to all minority entrepreneurs if you have a product that you think can sell a lowe's environment in store online. We're giving them a chance to pitch this product last year. We had thousands of applicants. And we're able to narrow down to to the top five now beyond that we're able to select you know. Probably a dozen plus suppliers from this process that are working with us and now we have the second year in a row and we have over a thousand applicants. "Yeah wrestling at the barstool money to bring a trinity all does does it get annoying Do people like constantly say. Oh my god. You're so incredible like when you play football on time. Yeah and what's the answer to that. I mean you're doing pretty well with wrestling or is there some at some point. You might consider playing football because when you watch. You do a backflip afterwards. You're like this guy. You don't see anyone move like this. Maybe aaron donald like guys that big. Don't move like move. I mean i consider pointing football for the. I talked to actually coach flick of gopher football and he wanted to come out so before i went to be games. Who come come play for a little bit but let me games. I gave them a an official decision. So i'm considering playing football. I would i would hope one day to and get a trial with the nfl and I mean there's some teams that have came in have many to some some agencies have sparked just emmy so i mean it'll be cool to go to go out there and play football and being. Nfl for a little bit. I mean if abby okay. I got i got another row. I can hopefully take in. Hopefully everything will play on right. So you're you're six one two hundred sixty pounds. Do you have to cut way to get to two hundred sixty or wait. Could you put on. Do you think if you want to play football. I get up to eighty five with the right right meal. Plan right lifting. Maybe even pie to ninety. I mean my highest. I've been with to seventy two seventy five. So i've been up there. I mean i think i still keep that agility but with the right football training. They're trying to different ours with their program. I might might shoot up quick. What what about your like lifting regimen to put into perspective. What do you you know squat. I do bench. I don't even know if guys bench anymore like what. What do you usually do in terms of. Like max wait on all the big lifts i- longtime last time. I probably go was specific. Five-plus on squat dead lift Bench south listen about three. Seventy five is about a year ago What else is there. You can max. Cafes i mean. That's pretty impressive. I do. I get a pretty substantial cafes regiment going on right now. What's the what's the thousand club. What are the deadliest bench and squat. So you could almost get two thousand club without you can eliminate one of the lifts in almost two thousand club I can eliminate mention. I'm wondering what's it like. Just being For example in an airplane looking around and just knowing like i could kill anybody on this plane with bare hands like i am the champion of of every environment. I'm in owner. I haven't really thought like that. Oh out of it is. It is crazy like sometimes come to my mind link. They would like a random person this came up to me like flex some swing on me and debt. That is under thing about. But i've never thought about like the like walking around. I never have felt. Like i'm the baddest man anywhere. 'cause i like the i like to be a regular person so my time on a wrestling mat comes around mattis. I didn't like people will tell me. Outside of the outside of the gable your legend. You're like the battles person on earth. But when i go out places i this is regular me like i don't. I don't mentioned nothing about wrestling unless someone comes up to me. I hate Even talking about wrestling outside of it. I just like to. I like to taught me. I would rather talk about like war zone and analyst. Dan outside at. What do you think of the hacker shen warzone right. Now it's like it's you play the game anymore. You can't do again so good with that the wall hacks and aamodt's the controllers that are better hidden Then keyboard players to look at chief rossi teeth want them to talk about eight times. A day hidden sky shots in three sixes off the motorcycles in digital I'll play for fun. I played as enjoy myself. But there's some there's some good news. I watch but the hacking is garbage It's hard to get rid of but activists do something about it. Do you play with a controller control. Yeah i always feel like if you're using a keyboard and mouse like that's i i've done it a couple times just to see what it's like and the amount of like aim adjustment that you can make it so much more accurate to play with the mouse. But i have more fun playing with the controller. Control again it's more as it were the to play with the controller the mouses like like you see like the model affleck real quick. You can hit the shots easier. And you can get your. Your view is better. And if you've got a monitor your fbi says all that is way better so those those are some crazy teeth. You see this on a play one game which you make it happen. I agree though. The video games replayed with controllers I have a question about beef. do you still have beef with. Aj ferrari agent for. I have no beef I mean i squash when i saw him in person at the national tournament. Squad started be you know. I don't like i don't really do the internet talking. No more back. In the day. I used to but not only do on the internet talk. You know it gives people it gives people clout that's undeserved. Ns not work for us. So when i when i come to for wrestling mat to dominate in anita dawn internet. Talking you most on the mat and you'll see me for for six seven minutes on a wrestling mat. That i'm out of there. That must've felt good when you went up against Mason paris because he called you out and said he was going to embarrass you in the big ten finals and then you. You've beaten every time. You've wrestled him right. Yeah i mean that that was a really heartfelt. Won't because i mean i didn't russell mad at tournament all of a sudden it turned into i was dodging. You know me. Do i look like that. Most definitely and so his time came where he got hooked on live. Tv got made a fool of and why do it again. Most definitely not even hard him now. I love i love the. That's all so. Let me this just going. Based off your natural ability to just be like the baddest man in a room Which of these two names Would you rather work for a guy named vince. Or a guy named dana sch start the bidding war. Yeah let's go or guy name roger. Yeah yeah you got all the options. Now i got a lotta options in now is it is really crazy..

"You dedicated it to the breakfast club. Fifty life lessons for fifty. Yes well fifty life lessons. That i've learned because the older i'd get the more freedom i feel the more the older i get the more childish. I feel really to be honest with you. I think i'm going sort of in a reverse direction as far as aging so serious as a kid. I was so afraid as a kid. And now i feel like i have all these Playful opportunities to experience a pleasure purpose and peace within all that too. And i thought okay. If i'm doing something or got a way of doing this. I just want to share this with my friends with my clients With the world to say. I'm turning fifty dammit and here the fifty reasons why. We're really really really super happy about that. So i wrote this series. I made myself right. This series and kind of took on more than i could take on. Because i ended up. I mean they ended up being longer than i anticipated but it was fifty lessons and fifty days. I forced myself to write fifty lessons and fifty days. And they're currently up at the fifty lesson Sorry fifty lessons of fifty dot com. If you look at the number fifty fifty lessons of fifty dot com. And i hope they might do is if anyone thinking about this fearing getting older or disliking their body for any reason that they might go to this page and see if there's a few things that we can talk about that might change that daymond do feel that it's not particularly for gay men that there's an emphasis on on youth culture and not aging as opposed to the general population. Do think it's just kind of the same for everyone. Oh there's a strong strong pressure within the gay male community to not age. And i find that so ironic given that we are the generation. Those of us that are fifty and older. We're the generation that have now survived to pandemics. We survived the worst of the aids crisis. And now we've survived kobe. And i think that gives us a lot of reasons to be celebrate tori about the fact. We're still here. But so many facets of the culture informs.

One i'm just gonna keep changing my number one if you if you played fantasy saturday night live and you wrote those names down. You would have thought you had a super bowl team. Yeah but it once again i. It's it's fantastic as as headliners but collaboration wise. Yeah there's been a lot of people who've been super successful and been on saturday night. Live and bombed like sarah silverman and damon wayans. I love damian wayne. Yeah but on. Saturday night live no in love in living color. Daymond i can sit and watch all day actually. I really love that show. But he just couldn't do saturday night live for some reason. It didn't work for him. Ben stiller was on saturday on books. Little women little men lou. There's tons and tons of really talented people. I think it goes in. It goes definitely in waves. If you look at it and you go. They'll have a run of two three years sometimes five tops and you're like this is a fantastic ass and then you start bringing in some new talent you like it still works and then all of a sudden like a main key player. Lee is and you're just like how do we go from top to bottom within a season. 'cause if you at i mean think about it will look at the when the when sandler left. There's the whole bit. Their last bit is them going and jumping into the polar bear. And it's like him farley. Laid and i wanna see. There's one other person in the only person left mcdonald and nobody realized at the time that that was going to be their last bit. Saturday night live norm. Macdonald ranked really low. I love i love nor macdonald. Talk about one note. Sally mcdonough he is but when he like. It's the right roles for him like him as burt reynolds on their great him and weekend update he had his high notes. It was who who who was the weekend. Update i can't think of his name. Colin quinn. Yeah what can we name that. Colin quinn was really good at other than weekend. Update nothing remote control. And that's the thing is a lot of. Nobody knows that show. That's the thing was if you look at a lot of the weekend. Update people for the most part like a lot of them. One trick. tony's yes. I was going to say except for when they had like tina. Fey amy poehler. Dan ackroyd i like kevin nealon. Moore's royd player than a weekend. Update guy. I know. But i always look at him as weekend. Update because that's when. I really started watching for my age. And when i started getting into. Snl he was my weekend update anchor. Dennis miller has been my favorite weekend. I liked denison. Dennis miller worked. And that's why. When dennis miller got his own show on. Hbo and he pretty much did weekend. Update as a bit to start off It worked perfectly. Do i enjoyed. Amy poehler and tina fey. No the guy that replaced him. I got his own late night show. And i can't not jimmy fallon seth meyers seth buyers. Amy amy poehler. And seth meyers tina fey replace jimi jimi point out that jimmy fallon is essentially like he. All he wanted to do was be adam sandler throughout most of his career until he became like a host on weekend update. And here's the thing once again. yes i enjoy. You wanted to be adam sandler for most of his. Snl career but jimmy fallon link in all fairness a lot of his characters all his name and at some point he's going to crack up. He's not like he's not known for. But that's what makes it. A larry is is because of the fact that at some point he's just gonna lose it onset. Not all of you can be me and have your range of characters. And i didn't understand who is he is he andy gibbs. He does great with very gives really matter which gibbs brother well. That's the whole reason. I austin him and As i say him and rachel dra- ch. I think we're still will forever. Be debbie downer. Mom i think. I'm going to have to cut this last bit out of the podcast and save it for when we visit the life planet. Be good because guess what things don't change in space we still get squirrelled. Speaking to be squirrelled whereabout up at our our. You got any other quick thing. Quick one of think he did all of them. She's right Just gonna send would end post spectacular spot man one hundred forty eight the night of the living. Ned which has gotta get gotta get an award for the tato right there. I think it was. it was pretty fun overall. Man i do every now and again i guess you you come across. They social issues and they the so good this refreshing So this issue predominantly being led by to just normal people surrounded by very chaotic slash demonic environments. And it's just basically to normal people of doing very heroic things are really did. enjoy it. in fact even that we don't really see the real the real spiderman we say bit of him which was good but a may not necessary. I think i think perhaps maybe in the day Would have been a little bit of uproar if it was not an appearance. Bottom at all in an issue but anyway. I think it's it's quite a a bright thing to do. But if you pulled off it which really well so. I really enjoyed this issue. they'll flesh in the pen ury clash thompson doing these griping but even more may betty brant she's Gaining some redeeming qualities. I guess from. I mean not so much that she's been bad but she's really had a rough trot And she really does get to feis her In the most literal wise it was. I mean again. The whole idea was it was pretty simple thing. I mean david running around till the morning to play with their pri- people that ate them. So that kinda conjure up davis doc august insecurities that betty flash have It's not that. I think it detracts from it but out the may refer point the other night. I was assuming it would be more kind of bessie entry. Connor become the the hero at the end the plan and she was the orchestrator of the climax with gas hate. So that's pretty cool. But while i was reading through it at the beginning of all flash centric go ogle. Betty had had the real damon's in a closet and when we say flash Up against a awards a spot that insults him i felt. Oh that's nowhere near as You the problems. That betty had with losing ned and losing her brother To the to the battle between Inspired men as mentioned. And there's losing ned Over in berlin Was we'd lead with clash Having said that it was really fun to see him Same stick up for himself against the daymond use whatever walls he could to try and try and beat the damon unloved the. Id conway's go really fun. Id's the idea of that. Damon spiderman ass stringing up flash and taking away the lightning rods of the buildings. And then how you know with the storm coming having potentially electrocuted of other very kind of morbid and Very dareus i look upon code to send someone But yeah the was fantastic as well. I i think a lot of people may not like celebration is odd but do love storytelling aspects to it. I was thinking about even There was some script by conway flesh just thinking to himself and visually see flash bringing the planks preparing the apartment block to be boarded up against the inferno outside at just a small touch. I thought that was just really well-considered In my head cannon nothing that was sal coming out with the layouts that just jerry's words and who knows maybe conway. Why did lay out the penalty for that as well. But i think is just really good. Making something up if you just look at the words of it's very nondescript and actually adding adding value to it by by telling a very small story of just flush going around the building The shot they may very reminiscent of from able dead. I love it. The silhouette in the doorway just those little things anyway As you can tell. I really did enjoy it. It's i'll give it a solid baby maybe a b. plus Just really enjoyed this. Very honest tyke and an insight into flash and betty and Although it was essentially i guess it's a nothing story on the other hand. You could argue that. It isn't the fact that betty really does turn a corner in in her law because she had been through such a nervous breakdown and all that sort of thing And this was the wife of her to kind of get beyond that and at and you know her and flash seem to be doing very well indeed yes so b plus to me for this really cool odds really storytelling by gerry conway. He's a very solid rider. I think especially during this era But yet anyway. I'm gonna put i i seriously because Those that great lenten one while ago. I'll really enjoyed it by the apparently wasn't it wasn't a good one. I'm hyping this one because yale accidentally anyway catch a lotta.

"In that world. Rise above all else. Literally black on a financial report is critical. It's saying that the business energy who's making money and it's profitable The color red on a financial report signifies losses. Business is losing money, and it's not recorded a profit. From a financial perspective those of the two colors that watch more carefully than any other but from a practical perspective and in life, the best color in the U. S of a His green the color of money. That is the show tonight the color of money. I suppose when you come down to it, the color of money is my favorite color. Have a story about color. You ever think about it? There's no prejudice when it comes to green. Cash is King and money is green. No more so in business at the Magic show in California. There was one of the world's greatest trade shows. In California who's called Magic, the Men's Apparel Guild in California. The acronym Magic Men's Apparel Guild in California. Bunch of suppliers got together and banded together show kept growing and growing and growing until the filter convention center in California. It was amazing to see I'll never forget. You know, I get invited to the magic show on because I was very, very heavy and advertising. Conde Nast GQ, I forget which one of the magazines during the Magic show decided to have a party at the Playboy Mansion. I was invited. I'll never forget walking in and saying to my wife. Hey, Sue, You're not gonna believe it. I was invited to the Playboy mansion in California. When I'm there. I can't wait to go and she looked at me. You're not going e grew up my whole life reading Playboy looking at the pictures. I'm not going to the Playboy mansion. But you're not. You're not going. You're married man. You're not going to listen, so I'm going And you're not going We left it that way. The minute I got to California that night, I picked up a friend who I hadn't seen in a long time ago. I named Richard Baron. He was out in California trying to be an actor, and I went I said, I'm gonna pick you up. I had a limo. Set up by the magazines and I went to the Playboy Mansion. It was the coolest thing in the world to be in the Playboy mansion. If I tell you I never been in more boring place in my life. All the fun was stripped out of their to make for an interesting, boring business meeting. There were no bunnies running around. No, there was no nothing. You know Why Why Mommy called the Playboy mansion. She called you have to herself and said, Behave, huh? Look between this story and the one from last week where you're talking about getting massages in Hong Kong. I don't even know what to think of you. Japan, Japan you whatever. You know what I'm talking about. Well, you have to think about what I'm telling you. It was a boring party anyway. Make a long story Short the show got so big That California's convention center couldn't have it and the powers to be shopped it around and thought Vegas would be the perfect place to go. There's some great parties. I also sponsored one night Rod Stewart. Everyone in the world is that the Rod Stewart concert Because my company pvh at the time sponsored Rod Stewart to talk. It was great in the scope of the show turned out to be amazing. But I have a story because tonight we're talking about the color of money, not just investing it in performances, but about Business in general to see what's the name of the guy on the shark tank. You know, the guy who was in the fashion business. Oh, from food. Boo Daymond John Food boo for us by us. Represented a black entrepreneur building, a company that represented the black culture. Cuba was hot. It was one of those exciting companies in the world and everyone wanted a piece of it, and everybody wanted to wear their clothes while they were running and I'll never forget. As a company. We read the largest pressure company in the world at the time. Amongst some other businesses, we said Wouldn't we love to be a part of food Boo and have dress shirts with the food blue label? So we sent in our head of dress shirts, and he went negotiated with food. Boo and sure enough, we got the license the right to manufacture and sell dress shirts with the food boo name. And sure enough, and Lo and behold, the first time we were going to show the food Boo dress shirt line was that the magic show in Las Vegas the food will company to their great credit, took a huge booth. And put applied ALS. They're different businesses and all the different licenses to come and show their wares. And in my case, the food blue dress shirt light and it was an amazing event. And here's what I learned about it when you walked in there. You sore people of color, thousands of them. You saw people that will cook Asians, Hispanics black, all working together. There was an energy in that booth the likes of which I have never seen before in my life. And it was all together. We were all together. There was no color. We're all working towards success. There was no nonsense there was on Lee one color in the world at magic at that time. And that color was green. It's interesting. How work and economics and the opportunity to improve your life and make a living. And focus on Green eliminates racism. I'll never forget how I enjoyed that feeling in there how I felt the common good. There's something about that we should all remember in life. Should never forget it. Jobs, the ability to make money. Crosses all boundaries. Prior to the craziness of Cove. It When the economy was booming..

It doesn't mean that anything wrong. It just means that you want to make sure that there isn't anything. I think that makes perfect sense in our listeners. I'm sure would agree the number again. Seven eight one eight three six four two one four to Make that strategy call to find out more and retire. South shore dot com. Now one of the things. We thought we do today is is in explore what some of the vehicles are. The people are asking you about and We'll get to things like fixed annuities and cd rates this. Your basic opinion. But i i wanted to ask you about the idea of debts down paying things off That is an issue that especially at the first of the year people start to consider what are what are we talking about here. It is i. Try to put myself in a client's tradition and ensure have had this conversation with them before you know a lot of advisors would say well why would you pay that off because i can make more money in if we invest the money and i'll just make more than the debt costs you but you know there's a lot to be said about putting your head on the below at night knowing that you're debt free I'd rather not have the data at all and if you're growing the money with the ultimate intention that it's going to be used to pay the debt. Wouldn't you rather just cut out the middleman and get rid of the debt. And the reason that i bring it up is that you know. Sometimes we talked to a lady last week. She said i have a cd and come and do in. February and see rates are pretty dismal. I was looking at create back in november in a one year. She rate is point. Six five percent a five-year. Cd rate is one percent and it's not a lot of money to be had there through no fault of anyone. It's just the way the market is in. The world is right so it is a good opportunity for people to kind of clear up. You know big car debt that might have four or five percent fixed interest by our interest rate on it Credit card debt. No matter how good your credit is you're paying pretty significant credit card. Apr's of what they call them So yeah does does make sense to a certain degree to get rid of some debt. You don't wanna do it A bite your nose off despite your face. We're all about having balanced so when we're talking to clients. We would look at that from a balance perspective. Let's get rid of a little bit of that. It's make sure that we still have a cushion and an emergency fund. We have some safe money. We have some money that's protected.
