Cornelia Police were alerted to be on the lookout for a woman thought to be driving under the influence. Police caught up with the driver later identified as Ashley Sofia Tolbert of Dawsonville and conducted a traffic stop. The officers performed a field sobriety test determined Tolbert was intoxicated. But when they told her she was being arrested, she fled the scene. An officer shot at a tire on Tolbert's vehicle. As she drove away, she continued to drive away and hit another vehicle. She was arrested the scene of the crash. The FBI is investigating since the officer fired a shot at the vehicle. A rape in county woman is in jail after she led three law enforcement agencies on a wrong way chase in Athens. 53 year old Ann Marie Hicks was first spotted driving the wrong way on the state route 10 and her loop near Oglethorpe Avenue around 3 30 Monday morning. Report from the Athens Clarke County police departments as an officer stopped Hicks, but she took off and continue driving the wrong way. Officers again tried to stop picks with stop sticks at the exit ramp to Timothy Road. The stakes deflated the front left tire of Hicks's Toyota Corolla. But again she didn't stop the state Patrol The Oconee County sheriff's office using a pit maneuver to stop picks his car near college station road, she was arrested and faces. No, I think you're right. Fed up with on both sides. I think you're right and the needless hypocrisy and remember, the people that show up at meetings are about 10% of the people that go out to vote. And if you are focusing all of your efforts on making that 10% happy, I don't care if it's Democrat meeting Republican meeting Liberty Syrian, you know, adopt a pet meeting. Okay, people that actually go to meetings are about 10%. If you are focusing all of your efforts to those people, you're going to leave out a bunch of people you are. But the reality is those are the 10% that the tail that wags the dog. Yes, there's a wag the dog. Exactly. All right. Martha. Now let's move ahead as we get set for a brand new day and was he mentioned warmer today than yesterday, although not this time. In the morning from where we were yesterday. Little bit cooler, But summer temperatures gotta be headed our way this weekend and into next week. Matter fact Sunday into Thursday, we're expecting highs in the low nineties. You might wonder. Well, what is? What does that mean for June, July, August? What does mean we get the summer months? Are we really gonna be cooking? Well, that's a question that our own access Wdun Austin Eller was curious about. So he spoke with the state climatologist earlier this week and asked him what the climate looks like in our area over the next few months to kind of get us ready for it, and he actually quite a lot to say about it. I still say kind of typical conditions, summer like conditions. Um, you know, we're heading in the summer now where we're going to see someone days coming up and even hot days next week. Um, you know, especially Red T o the way it's men this past month in May, which which has been, you know, with that below normal temperatures for gains will for the month of May, But, um, yes. So how did the warmer conditions in the near term and then wrote political someone life conditions? Um, you know, I think you know what we're gonna lose. You know where I'm gonna have the You know the fast moving front of systems like we've had in the active severe weather season. We're kind of trailing in off of that, and we're going to war into a summertime pattern. That's Bill Murphy State climatologist with Georgia's Environmental Protection Division. He says the warm temperatures will start seeing this weekend could break some records. Maybe just a Reuben on but I think we could like to say that we could see some daily record. Max is possibly next week in some location. Since, um you know Manning Roland will be close to games was record for Tuesday to should be right on it. I believe so. Yeah, I could see some some records being broken, Um, in in some areas, Murphy says. There's really nothing to worry about in terms of the heat this summer, But what about tropical activity? So its various tropical activity goes? No just came out with. There's actually today. Um, so for the Atlantic Basin, um they're projecting 13. 20 name storms and 14 is the average actually. Um and then 6 to 10 hurricanes. 16 of those would be hurricanes. So and the average typically seven so and then 3 to 5, major hurricanes, and the average typically is around three. So really about normal tropical activity is expected. Also for this year death I don't think we're gonna have the 30 we had last year, remember, we Hurricane season of 30 Tropical cyclones. As far as drought conditions go, Murphy says Things have been good so far currently That's that's you know, rapidly drying souls. Basically, that's one of the big characteristics for that. So the good news over it was like I said, up to this point and a zit this week. If you look at today's US trapped miner for Georgia, Um we had no color on the map in a lot of that's just got to do the marble him private. We've had on the topic of rainfall on a local level, Murphy says. Precipitation levels are looking good in Gainesville. So with those current precipitation levels, Murphy says he's hopeful any upcoming drought conditions are short term.
