"That Long he's younger than me Longer ago he was with the Davidson wildcats getting things done And I was enjoying the last time we had a bond market like this which is 78 79 Volker bob what do you do to claw back to 2025 What is the attitude you take Where you're down 10% 13% 16% four years coupon and I got a clawback out three years What's the strategy Great question Tom You know the interesting thing is there is some value that's starting to be created in the U.S. fixed income market Let's just stay there for the time being Please At wider at wider spreads recently some of the spread products whether it's securitized CMBS CLO et cetera or even high yield and the triple-b IG stuff started to look started to look reasonable Now Fred snapped in pretty aggressively in the last couple of weeks I wouldn't be surprised if we get another bite at the apple but at these forward rates in treasuries we think rates probably go a bit higher specifically out in the term structure of rates probably goes a bit higher but we're starting to get to levels where you can build a portfolio that probably earns three to four maybe even 5% in certain scenario over the next couple of years Of the Frank fabozzi Of the Frank fabozzi variables can you extend duration That seems to be the biggest risk right now So that's a tricky one right I think the consensus view is yes and for a reason that I agree with which is treasuries now do have some portfolio hedge capabilities or properties which they didn't have a year ago or two years ago because the levels were so low the yield levels were so low So yes in an absolute crisis treasuries are going to rally a lot from these valuations But I'm in the camp that thinks there are a number of longer term more secular perhaps influences that are likely going to work to push the term structure of rates a bit higher over the next couple of years Things like all of two of the three G three central banks abandoning QE and the fed now starting to allow runoff Things like Europe pursuing energy and security independence will require a tremendous amount of investment slash borrowing If the world actually does become genuinely motivated to pursue net zero that's going to require a massive CAPEX program around the world over a couple of decades that will likely lead to a higher term structure of rate So there are a number of things that kind of lean in that direction They're not near term catalysts at all But I think the term structure could probably I think we could have a steeper curve for the same level of inflation and same level of growth over the next couple of years Bob early this year people looked every morning at the fed funds futures and when the fed would raise rates what the things were gained out how much rate fear was there currently in the market We've shifted Now people are looking at economic indicators and it's less about the fed parlor game as Tom likes to say But more about the fundamentals some of the secular changes that you're talking about as well as whether the U.S. economy is accelerating or actually experiencing certain stagflationary types of dynamics What do you look at every morning when you come out with a near term and a midterm view of those yields So Lisa the tricky thing is that financial conditions in the U.S. have tightened a fair amount The impulse the magnitude of tightening from very accommodative levels is sizable on a historical basis So it's possible that FCI that financial conditions have tightened enough to allow the fed to achieve its target with respect to inflation The challenge is you actually have to deliver the forwards in order to get that tightening right So or it has to come through other channels that are less favorable So the forwards as you said are priced for very specifically for three 50s and two 25s over the next 5 meetings I think that's probably sufficient And we're also priced for a three and a quarter terminal rate a year from now That may well be sufficient It's just that you've actually got to deliver that in order to get there So in the U.S. has started to come down and that's probably a durable trend It's not going to it's not going to collapse But realized and implied volatility has started to come down because we've kind of settled into as you said at the beginning when we were talking before the show we've settled into a little bit of fatigue with respect to the fed and the forward seem pretty fairly priced for what we know today It's the part of the conversation we should take life to wear Just later in the commercial breaks and the world what she really thinks about everything If you thought the stuff on it if you thought the stuff on air was punchy the stuff in the commercial break is so much better Bob Miller thank you sir of BlackRock I could have read a black rock on Friday and something you said is just stayed with me over the weekend and into this week as well Just turned around off the back of the payrolls report and just said John that's the last strong one I think that's the last strong one and Tom perhaps a negative threat And I'm going to take from Rick rieder for a BlackRock This bet is out there and let me say John I have an immense respect for people and equity is a bond that actually have to run money There was way more discussion of the bond bear market at the end of the 70s into Volcker than there is now There's like this secret this is just going to go away somehow I'm looking on the Bloomberg in R squared's way above .90 Sharpe ratios that are unmeasurable and I'm sorry double digit losses in bonds with coupons of 4% And we're not talking about it Tell them that sentiment that it's just going to go away I think that extends to so many things at the moment Yeah I think a lot of people would watch this program and say I was so gloomy Most of the guests still believe the fed backs away By the end of the year Oh yeah okay I would just go away Is she still hoping She's still getting her way Let's make this one work This is at least my sweatshirts fed Now the latest news from New York City and around the world here's Michael Barr Tom Lisa John.

"Was like, we got Dale curry son, instead of Michael Jordan stuff. Sucks. So immediately, immediately, you are underwhelmed not every possible level. Right. Because well, David, paint the picture for people who don't remember or never got to see what Steph looked like at that time because when you say a child genius, like you're not really exaggerating. He did not look like a college kid. And his Jersey was baggy, was hanging off of him. And you know, he had the baby face thing as like sort of popular now, but then he really looked like a kid. And you know, there were no high expectations for Davidson basketball. Like we would get into the tournament and then lose in the first round and it'd be sort of cool. I used to be able to just walk up to the games. You know, like, I would just be like, oh, there's a game going, just walk up and sit shorter in the front. And watch. Steph Curry in this empty jip. Yeah, like I would just go and be like, oh, there's a game going and we'd watch, and you know, traditionally before it would be like, you know, good Chris ball movement, back screens, jumpers, that was the game, right? And so this kid comes in at the red white game, you know, a little pre season scrimmage thing to sort of get the season started. And he drops 25 points in the first half. What is going on? What is happening shooting from all over the court? And again, still the smallest kid out there, and they would, you know, I remember when you would play the Waffen or whoever at Davidson and everybody would just chant he's a freshman. And then, you know, they put like a big wing on him and you'd be like, what can this kid do? And he was just dropping ridiculous amounts of points. Like I used to watch him in pseudo empty gyms, do some of the most incredible stuff you'll ever see. It was like watching like Mike with Bow Wow. It's like kind of watching John Lennon at some bar and Liverpool where nobody knows what the hell he's going to be. Right, yeah, yeah. I mean, because all through it, it was just like, this is a good story, but there was never NBA talk. Well, so Davidson, right? I understand, obviously, a mostly white school. I know it's a liberal arts college. I know it's relatively small, but give us sort of like the lay of the land here. Where is it? What do people need to know about your Alma mater here? The Soviet Davidson is right outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, about 20 minutes outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. Very, very small about 2000 students, liberal arts school in the city of Davidson, which had, you know, to all sort of brick, everything's brick. It's one of those things that has like a city ordinance that things have to be ahead at the time, the things that had to be brick. There was a controversy about should they bring a subway to the subway sandwiches, Tuesday, which I'm like mostly white. I think like 85% white students, all the black kids, a Davidson, know each other, but it's tremendous school, like it's a wonderful liberal arts college. I love my time at Davidson, love my professors and everything. It was just like extremely rigorous, challenging, school, and at the same time you just have this really cool story of a basketball team like coach mckillop had been there forever is always on the kill up. Yeah, like kind of a hero among small college college coaches. Yeah, and Davidson was in the southern conference at the times. They were going to win the so con. You go to the tournament, you get beat in the first round by some juggernaut team, and that's like a really cool story. And that was really what Davidson Davidson was. Yeah, I was looking up like the last NBA player before Steph to make it out of that city that had, I guess, congressional meetings about whether you want $5 footlongs. And it was this dude Mike malloy, who got drafted in the tenth round in 1970. That was sort of the gap between Steph and the last guy in terms of basketball culture at your school. Yeah, I mean, we love the basketball team, but it wasn't like the community. People didn't come to watch Davis and I mean, you know, they used to have to pass out the players with Steph Curry's passing out tickets himself to games. You know, like there was in bilk arena, there was like a little gym, like a place you could work out that so I would sometimes go in and to do a little workout. I'm like, oh, Davidson's playing. Just like, go walk into the game. Just like sit like three rows from the front and just watch Davidson play basketball. The idea that Steph Curry at one point was just knocking on the doors around around your school to get people to come to games and now obviously like you go on StubHub and you got a mortgage your house to watch him do anything. It's sort of my, it's not sort of. It is straight up mind-blowing, David. And I guess I actually want to recall with you here, the first time your mind got blown watching him shoot. I remember being in the gym like shooting just shooting around on a court that was like sort of next to them while they were playing basketball. They were like, you know, having practice. And I just remember him just empty gym doing around the world drills and I don't think he missed for like 15 minutes. And I was just sort of like, what is like, what is this? And it feels like at normal like athletic powerhouses, right? Like those kids, those prospects, those players, they live kind of on their own away from the rest of the student body. They have their own like athlete housing and stuff, but you're sort of describing a school where that may not have necessarily been the case with you guys. Yeah, no, he was just around. Basketball players were just around. You know, Stephan was around and you would just see him. We just hang out. So he just studying after March Madness, we were in the library and he was like, you know, you go Facebook and in the corner, it has like, you have 5 Facebook requests or whatever back then, right? And so his Facebook friend request had infinity sign? A literal literal infinity design as opposed to a number. He was just like, this is very strange right now. Okay, so we've got to talk about this elite 8 run that you're referencing in 2008, David. The thing that sprung Steph Curry towards infinity because it is his sophomore year, and this is when I remember first hearing about Steph Curry and I remember this like I was there because this is how it's saying in the run was, right? I mean, this was one of the most memorable NCAA tournament runs ever because your Davidson wildcats, your a ten seed, and with all due respect to the other kids on this team, it is basically Steph Curry against the world, right? I mean, he drops 40.

"In Connecticut, clean shaven if you're watching on YouTube, I'm in New York City after a late night in studio, CBS Sports Network. Quadruple header. Oh boy. First post and we're not post pandemic. Not even close. But first, since the pandemic started at first quadruple header, I've had to deal with. That took some and was it a wild Tuesday or was it a wild Tuesday? On Tuesday morning, we had two undefeated teams left individual men's college basketball. It was of course Baylor and USC. Now it's Wednesday morning. We have zero and that's because number 5 USC lost at Stanford 75 69 and then top ranked Baylor Boston home to Texas tech 65 62 dead leg. I know 'cause I remember a conversation that in the preseason, you didn't think we'd have an undefeated team this deep into the season. But once we did, I can't imagine you thought we'd lose them. The last two both of them yesterday did. It happened so fast. It was over. So abruptly. It did happen abruptly. We have a trivia time off the top, let's go. You ready? I mean, probably not, but we'll give it our best shot. I think you might have a shot here. All right, so Baylor loses USC loses on Tuesday. There are no more defeated teams, but also that means the two longest win streaks are now in the previous longest win streaks are now gone. So, with those teams losing, what teams currently and they have the same number, obviously, there are two teams hold the longest active win streaks in men's college basketball. I'll go auburn for one. Auburn is one of them. And it's a 12 game winning streak. Oh, we'll get to that in a second. We will. And who has the second longest winning streak? I haven't checked your top 25 on one. I am prone to believe that you have not put this team in your top 25 and one, but I would think that you have considered them. Is it Texas a and M? It is not Texas a and M as the former in person MC pre-pandemic of a ten media day. Davidson, wildcats. Davidson, you do not have Davidson ranked. No, but I have considered it. That's bob McCulloch. Davidson wildcats led by foster lawyer, who didn't place a well Tuesday night, but entering that game was shooting 52% from three average in 16 points per game after three years as a role player at Michigan state. Yeah, weirdly enough and we'll get to bailing probably about 17 seconds here. We had a dribble handoff on Tuesday where you highlighted foster lawyer. Coincidentally enough, I had a small thing planned in the court report about foster lawyer, but I was like, ah, GP took care of it. So yeah, Davidson and auburn, both on 12 game wins. Those are your longest current active ones in men's college basketball, but let's start with that Baylor Texas tech game GP because listen, great win for tech becomes just the 13 credit to ESPN research where I saw this, just the third team, Texas tech was to come back from 15 down on the road against the number one ranked team that I believe was also undefeated and win the game. They get it done. I had coincidentally enough I had talked to a couple of coaches earlier this season that had faced Texas tech and had given Mark Adams's proper due. Again, this is well in advance of Texas tech's past two wins, which have been fantastic. But basically saying, listen, the style that he has built that Texas tech program around, when he was serving under Chris beard now as I had coach, it's a style that's not easily one that can be adapted into your own program, but still, there are a lot of teams that are playing to that. And there are pros and cons of that overall. But for tech, big time. Tuesday was an awesome awesome night of college basketball across the sport. It's called troops. I thought it was a top three top four day Texas tech winning is the highlight and I don't know. I couldn't find this. I want to know the last time a team did and I'm sure it's happened somewhat recently, but Texas tech has got back to back wins here GP against top 5. Technically, Kansas is now dropped out of the top 5 in Ken palm, but at the time it was Kansas was top 5 Baylor's top 5 in Ken palm. So back to back wins, top 5 Ken pump teams with at least one of them being on the road. Not an easy feat to do. Red raiders are now 12 and three and where do you have them in your Wednesday morning, top 25 and one? They moved up to 16th in the top 25 and one, one spot behind Mike's just duke blue Devils. If you hadn't heard and you just start to listen to the podcast, coach K is retiring at the end of the season. That's correct. We reported that a long time ago. You're damn right we did. You just want to make every term everybody knows. No, no, no. Listen, there are people the college football season is over. Yeah. And although I always laugh at this idea that it's so insulting to the general sports audience that they don't have the attention capacity to possibly follow college basketball when you know there's been three college football games in the past 8 days. People get into college basketball. They have at least tuned in and checked in. They don't wait until the second the national college football championship game ends to suddenly be like, who's the best team? So anyway, big for yourself. That's what I do. I just started paying attention to college basketball yesterday. And yet you knew this podcast delivered the news. This might just be final season. I picked that up. I picked that up along the way. But now I'm laser focused now. I'm ready to go. Let's get this college basketball season in our class. Going. What are your thoughts on what we saw there with Baylor and tech? Because one, that's the best win of any team so far this year. In terms of value overall, no one can say they have a better win than tech on the road at Baylor, a team that's going to likely be a number one overall seat. So that was my biggest takeaway. What about you? Well, slow down. We can't go with Baylor's likely going to be the number one overall seed. We don't know that. I'm at number one. If I said overall number one, I'm excited to gab with you here on a Wednesday morning after a great Tuesday. But how about this? They're on pace to be they're on track to be a number one seed and perhaps the number one overall seed. By the way, I only drop Baylor to number two in the top 25 and one. I think that's fair. They've got this, they've still arguably got the best resume in the country, but they've certainly got the second best resume in the country. They're still 15 and one overall. 7 and one in the first two quadrants, they've got four quadrant one wins. Nobody in the country has got more than four as of this morning. So if you follow the top 25 and one at all, you know auburn is now number one. Baylor is now number two. And I was texting with you and not a last night and I was like, as I've said many times, I don't really root for any particular teams, but I do root for the top 25 and one. I want it to be as uncomplicated as possible each and every morning. And so I found myself in a little bit of a tough position 'cause Baylor loses, that's number one team. And then I had auburn number two, but auburn technically an underdog on the road at Alabama. And at number three, I have UCLA followed by Gonzaga at number four. And I was like, okay, Bailey loses. Now, if auburn loses, do I really have to elevate UCLA the number one? 'cause that's not gonna go. I've been doing this long enough. I know what goes over well and what doesn't. And UCLA with a blowout loss to Gonzaga, be a number one and they barely play their off nearly a month. That's gonna get is gonna light my mentions up. And I had reached the point and this is not something AP voters would do. I believe it is something I've done before, but I had reached the point where Baylor loses auburn loses. I just keep Baylor number one. And I make the argument, they've still got the best resume in the country even after a three point loss to Texas tech. And I think I could have made that still number one at Ken palm. I think I could have made that argument pretty easily. So the bears are still fine. They've got double digit wins over Michigan state Villanova. Like I said, still, I think, in my opinion, second best resume in the country. To me, the story was Texas tech. You know, they're missing a key player..

"Every game. And like, Steve Kerr made this point Tuesday night. He said tonight in this game, Nick's warriors, there was like 81, three pointers taken. There might have been something around there. And he was like, that Steph Curry. Steph Curry changed the way we played basketball. He changed the way you say he became this thing of this iconic figure in this franchise. I think it's more than that. I think he goes down in history as somebody who changed the sport that he plays. Will Chamberlain, like Babe Ruth, it's wild to think about, but he changed the way basketball is play. Do people do not play basketball anymore the way they used to play basketball, and it is largely because of Steph Curry, which is wild. Yeah. And I love the fact that it happened from a player out of Davidson. I don't know. I think that's completely awesome. Damian Lillard could ultimately go down as a top 5 shooter, certainly one of the best longest in shooters. He is a four year player out of we were stage. I love that basketball allows for those kind of things to happen there. By the way, kind of wrap it up and tied to the college stuff. Everyone talks about the 2008 elite 8 run, which they should, Davidson made it. Steph Curry's freshman season as well. They were 13 seeds. So they were a high end mid major out of the so con. And remember, it's because of Steph Curry that Davidson's even in the a ten now. He propelled that program to new heights. And then although it happened afterward, I think you can easily make the case that a Steph Curry never plays at Davidson. David, it's not in the a ten. Now, but since then, who was in the building bob and killed his coach was in the building at MSG on Tuesday night because the way this all was actually fortuitous for him there in the midst of a long break because the final so he was able to screwed up. He's from New York, by the way in the caliph is. He still has that accent. If you ever talk to him, David has made the tournament four times since, but Davidson has yet to win an installed tournament game since curry got them to the elite 8 in 2008. As we sit right now, bob mckillop, Davidson wildcats are 7 and two, overall, and they have a home game against Radford on Saturday. Won't quite have the fanfare as what we saw in Manhattan on Tuesday night. Well, first, Obama killer, awesome. Love bomber killer. And you mentioned how small of an enrollment Davidson has. Do you know this? I didn't know this until about Tom. We were talking PCM, I guess it was. I know what you're about to say. Say it and see. Davison doesn't have a grad school. Isn't that wild? So I was like, I was like, I was like, oh man, you know, I'm happy for Grady that he could get to play Kentucky, but I hate that for you because I know how much time you put in. And I know that must be a gut punch on some level. And he's like, no, Kelly couldn't stay with us. What do you mean? He's like, he had no, we don't have a grad school. That's a real disadvantage. Yep. Like, you can't, you can't keep killing Grady because he's got nowhere to get nothing to enroll in. David, in fact, Davidson has never had a grant transfer. "The report of the goddess time out is called by god it is their final timeout and the red planet Davidson Wildcats turn the fans other three and ask for more noise fifty eight seconds remaining and who now is thirty seven point ten is made eight of them please the game has just put Davidson ahead of P. seventy seven seventy four now what's a good day to do it well good very good news with the more they can do to get started all along portions the bowlers will bowl of Parker's trail park over there seems to be looking to score a lot more because they've been anticipating this proliferation in particular about I wouldn't be surprised if possible would be the recipient of the shop right now they were serviceable Davison defensively as well look to help out transaction will run their stuff this is a poll by Zacks if you live in the situation fifty eight seconds to go they're in a great position there that don't have any reason to panic at the school D. homebuyer IBM's bargain something over with the match ball those guys on the David said about the way he's defending the inbounds pass by Matt Bouldin here we go fifty eight seconds inbounds it is Matt Baldwin in the upper right hand corner to give the Fargo fifty four seconds Davidson by three of all the orders with W. two worlds and mostly look for the shot if he hasn't so far go to the right baseline outside day face the three steps out Mrs suits no well Hey do you want to roll the whole term many took the shot at the pharmacy there was only by the local reason he ran to the corner picked up a loose ball scored his results with the use of you got that good defense you rebel running from the outside so he's still in his role it's actually Andrew luck bales thirteen rebound and he's playing with four fouls he's the leading rebounder in the game and now he's at the line any shooting one and one but if you wanted somebody at the he used the word you want to live if you do post good lord would you just made that that was a huge because it makes it a two possession game reviews very seventy eight seventy four Polish doesn't comes up puts his hand on the back lot bills and whispers in his ear well Dale with another one coming pushed the ball to get it out there going to push it quickly going to take a radical shot but they're going to look for shot with thirty seven seconds of the game Davidson seventy eight seventy four Lovedale the free Grover Davidson seven seven four this time it is David C. one of the remaining available time outs his name was led by yeah forty one thirty six and literally Stephan has shot Davidson back in again close to a question about the the movie did with everybody with Jim Norton believes will take their shots and his ability to move without the basketball version of his father with more similar to Reggie Miller from what I've seen I've always put the red raiders receivers of a basketball a lot of kids talk about being able to shoot the ball would receive in the basketball's modern to itself is certainly been told well buys the all of the great finish transaction volume they are down five thirty seven seconds here we go what Hargrove noted the key out the great divide by Richard twenty five seconds we are the right bike right no cancel rebelled the floor against Davidson it's going to go against next call is because it's going to put it at the foul line for two shots with twenty three seconds left this comes back to what you spoke about earlier the team is for her and always wants to score points with the part about moving Austin Davis six ten freshmen from Irvine California at the line to the first free throw is yeah that's the reason we need to make a this young man it says six ten any could be twelve feet tall is that long and he's just a baby well you know most of the job of the top of his head by the length of those arms in this guy's got extremely low or that's why he's related to both of those three seconds is no good we got a lane violation hello the world wouldn't hello it's going to be able to fall on the foul before the free throw attempts wow Davidson's ball in five point lead twenty three seconds to curry the backboard great total three point seventeen seconds no well opportunities David Silva won a game in the NCAA tournament I was in nineteen sixty nine when they beat St John's in Raleigh I would certainly would love to learn with it was a good visit wherever they play wherever they play they deserved this win because of the holiday William Curtis young man on the line when you notice the Davis and fed up with the ball in the new home sales put it in free throw is good this is thirty eight point his second highest game of the year and now solves both teams fourteen seconds and Davidson has a six point lead and Stephan curry about to make it a three possession game if he makes the three leaders of the pro the I just sort of fathers Mr look for the great smile and very fourteen seconds in the front the baseline whistle of David well this is bird flu strain is why does with those those students Maddie diss while water we need this second vehicle in the Balkans you'll need to stop the car that floats Bob McKillop who's had such a great run nineteen years of Davidson had one let's see okay and he said to himself for that young writer for the fall fall this doesn't know what to do to me when you commit a silly foul and the you simply mix he lives in France will be room for you in the city of realistic mumble I'm going to say they might be for you BC are you might be with the second free throw good now it's a six point game nine point seven seconds left and sure bargains but we're not done yet the problem with the file Rossiter gets it in the curry who holds the ball seven seconds finally gets the whistle Stephan curry's at the line thirty nine point gain his season high is forty one the free flow is no good off the left those who may be going through the how did you got the perfect hurry today is fourteen of twenty two from the floor eight of ten from outside the arc and now he's a six when the power line the score forty points for the two obviously this is a funeral director said enough flooring how to receive these bridges and significant business BMW suitable rate of three point forty years it is what it is is there a whole the and they will wait for the town you will be seeing whether on Sunday what a great game as for the Davidson Wildcats eighty have a good day the Bulldogs seventy six well indefinitely so you would look at that site the best invigorated by those kids they deserve this because they have plenty of her bread it is very full details because I focused on Saturday even though they lost this game has done extremely well reporter Mister David a good second seed to be the most basic training for a good a good portion of the game they seem to be a little bit more and there's no way sometimes one guy who gets all the statistics is not in fact posted but there's no getting away from the fact that Steph curry simply Davidson it is very difficult well it's no question about that you know S. advertise with you specifically if you choose to use a good service he did it on purpose the circumstances which shows that not only is you have to choose a good is very capable of doing that in a very pressured situations.

"Is going to the line where he was four of five in the first half for Davidson they are down nine but now they're down eight Kirsten C. Davison makes this referral whether they'll go back to that little token pressure that was so effective form in the first time well he missed the free throw and the ball went out of bounds often zag I've been off the Davidson so we won't find out this time which is so important with the arts really because it would take about the three fourths but it's made the mantis not those older grades of the for a it is fifty one forty three Gonzaga and now is bold and tries to work the offense files called on Davidson's Adam Richards well that's three on the head of the snake the man who operates the point for the Davidson Wildcats Jason Richards server for your computer the richest brown in about those coaches a lot of no I mean it was kind of those you gotta be kidding me love her against the inbounds pass sales will rebound misstep was mugged by part but no whistle you hear the Davidson fans reaction has been zagra brings up all the front court really looking to implement a part of me don't get excited about anything now the left hand corner the highveld back to Fargo three on the left perfect no he's he's fired up the verify the business of problems with it pretty soon because of that this is going to live a more port with a click of a profit yes they are with an eleven point lead and now the curry on the left to the Keith kisses it off the glass and drew the foul brightest future because that is so much more liberal areas probably will have to step up to to really get this thing going from Vegas.

at seven early points for the Wildcats now let's rejoin Brad chairman John Thompson in Raleigh with just over eleven minutes left in the first half and get back over the early late twenty to fifteen three point shooting important Bergen's Agosto par John Thompson they are four of six from three point range and up there eight field goals four of them are three pointers Davidson is just one of those one at a whole lot to do our goal is always to try to fix it out he demands a lot of attention because of the privacy so strongly getting the trappings of the outside I'm surprised at the actors studio both of these teams all the talk about the position of office I've done a good job Zach I will have a high valve and day Margot and ray and down on the floor it is curry bar Sander Richard analog Dale back into the game for the Davidson Wildcats in red the can't say the Midwest region Davidson throw the ball in and underneath the Lovedale good inbounds play and what they opened with a layer of me almost missed it Ellen will use a low balls in this tournament almost broke down in the basket come out last night the same thing happened all over the country Gonzaga three point lead to the ball twenty to seventeen Fargo with curry on him no one can get open this is the defense John Tubbs is talking about both of Greensburg bird wrestled with that term they did a great job of games room officiated sometimes reunion CAA tournament games because of the pressure on the reservations about the let your voice did you ever say that as a coach I like the way this can happen a day after it now four Gonzaga jobs between the circles the downs quick dribble down the right sideline out the park go to the elbow on the right side over curry right away no good and the rebound good position by love Dale who saved her Davidson roadhouse in person but I love the most cuisines like one after the stop Richards now it's love Dale in the circle it would like a shot now they'll turn around take it no good back iron the structure of the global in the third row with yeah thank you shouldn't take the threat I felt got the rebound the best bargains that guy whose first job was correct day at the three point line website that's into the paint hanging off the glass no good hi well is there for the rebound for Gonzaga and one early indications are that the dragon may have a little bit of a length of vantage in late June I'm surprised you both are Davis who grew I look good too much of a jump start the repressive been put on the perimeter let me grow up bar Mr gray for Davidson with an air ball they get back to Steven gray hits his fourth three pointer for Gonzaga they go up twenty five seventeen and Davidson will call its first timeout rake in the action in the first half the score is good that you're twenty five and David's in seven days the on the glass Gonzaga has an eight to five advantage overall just look for the last couple of minutes with the substitutions that mark you have made John that he's got making some depth and length that Davidson might have a little trouble entering with the game on them and I think you were right to to start to kick in right now particularly the longer you go in the game tickling the substitute survey then you can find a place to toggle box out as much as you guys go to the boards will aggressively put a premium on Davidson to take absolutely the best shots they can and get jag is gone to a two three zone now here comes the Davidson Wildcats down the right hand corner Paul Scott was on the short with the jumper the rebound is pitch out of bounds off part goes ham Davidson will have a back in usually coaches who would usually come out of time out in the polls and coaching within all principle is you just put a little wrinkle you can expect the problem to go back to may as real soon Davidson made six of their first nine shots only one of their last seven and that's one reason they're down by eight points now as Richards operates a top that two three Gonzaga's owner is wanting Polish Gosselin to move on the left side over the right and crossed for the Balkans the Polish guys run back up top Richards now love Dale in the middle of the zone is cut off by day but I got two or three really long players down the bottom of that zone for Gonzaga list but the Booker everybody's totally curry is Richards missed a jumper from the right elbow and a long rebound comes down to good jacket day outlook the gray perfect from the line from the three point line his beat inside for hi that was knocked out of bounds by a Davidson defender Aniston's agas ball into the basket twenty eight to shoot eight forty six remaining in the half well there is a woman cool floral park trying to deny him the ball trying to force other players that have a downs takes the inbounds pass from Fargo and now Jeremy Pargo from Chicago operating at the point guard brigades I get between the circles with the double calls a play shot clock to fifteen models guys looking in right knee I shot clock comes with ten Margo's gonna handle this off the screen hi today he shoots water from Durham it's no good and the rebound swept up into the air volleyball style and one by downs Brigham zag back the gray another three up top that's what he wants to grow you talked about them live their lives not just helping guns that go on the boards is also your concert offices to those guys is so far above everybody curry misses from the right baseline for Davidson the other end Gonzaga missed an alley oop and the ball off the glass rebound the curry Hey bill goes to the Florida slap it loose he gets it back Richard trying to go out to you and day warm player steals the programs I guess now he runs he's filed by "Everybody Daniel, Jeremiah for move, the sticks. And I'm Bucky Brooks in this is Dana Jones three six. Keeps it goes off with a. Into zone when nominal John. I bought for those that are just checking out the three sixty series. Maybe they've missed some of the other ones we've already popped out there. Shame on you. First of all. But for those that aren't familiar with the three sixty series tell him what three sixty series is all about. And what we have coming up here with Daniel Jones today, you're going to hear from his parents, his sister who also was a college athlete his high school, and college coaches, and of course from the blue devils quarterback. Joe I gotta love these three sixties to get a chance to do a little bit of a deeper dive on an individual player in what get a chance to talk with. Daniel is great. But it's what we get from the people around him that know him best when you're talking about family members coaches guys that know, what makes him tick. This is what you would do on the scout inside goes back to our time as NFL scouts digging. A little bit deeper not just watching tape trying to learn about the person just a player. Yeah. The background information is certainly important. We can always figure out what God does on tape. But really is trying to figure out why you're the right way. Does he? Have the intangibles that you look for? And so these three sixties are fascinating. Especially when you're talking about a Duke quarterback that has overcome the things that Daniel has overcome. Yeah. And we look at him as a player, you know, things to like about Dana Jones. Let's start first of all with the size, the athlete's ability the intelligence the character. All those things are exceptional. Exactly. What you want from the position. Now does he have a huge power arm? No. I do think he possesses enough arm to make all the throws getting chance to go down there at his pro day. Maybe it was an exceptional day for him. He really spun the ball well showed that he could make some of those far hash throws. Maybe not completely flat ball, but he showed he can drive the ball when it's needed. So to me, I think he's he's got all the tools that you need. I think a little bit of a challenge in the evaluation what he played with in love to coach there and David cut cliff. But but he has not played with the draftable player in the last guys we drafted their lake in Tomlinson as well as you go to the slot receiver who's now up there with the New York Jets, James and Crowder that was two thousand fifteen. Leave so sixteen seventeen eighteen his three seasons as a starter. Duke haven't had a draftable player. So he's been fighting a little bit uphill battle there. He hasn't been find an uphill battle. But I give him credit. Some of the things that we like to see from quarterbacks. How did they handle the adversity? How do they handle situations where they don't have everything Londe up form with Dana Jones? We see that we see that play out on tape. You talked about him being smart tough. I think he's officiant solid. Underrated dual threat quarterback a guy that can do a lot of different things in a variety of different offenses in. So we can talk about his arm talent being maybe at a B plus level. But there are plenty of quarterbacks that have succeeded in National Football League. They didn't have the biggest arm. I think the big thing for Dana Jones is finding assistant neighborly plays to his strengths as really a complete playmaker from the pocket when I look at him. He reminds me a little bit of a mix of two players Alex Smith and Ryan tannehill in Alex Smith. I see the efficiency at sea to play make an ability. I see his ability to consistently connect the dots in. System where he's around about playmakers and Ryan tannehill I see a little bit of the F lettuces them a little bit of I will say some of the rawness that Ryan and he'll interleague in. And when he's played his best ten to hill has been a winning quarterback. And so somewhere in between Smith and tannehill. I believe is where Jones lies, but I think that's certainly good enough to be a starting quarterback that went to number games in the league. I actually use those names I had tannehill to me is is kind of the floor. That's what you're hoping. He's going to be the worst case scenario as you get somebody that can be a productive starter in the right system. Both very good athletes tannehill the former college wide receiver Daniel Jones, look at all of his testing number on the hi four six is very athletic. Great basketball players you're going to hear about a little bit later on in this episode. But the other thing that look if you're shooting for the moon, like what could he be if everything clicks everything goes perfect to me? Matt Ryan, here's the snap. Ryan. Matt looks left. Throws Jones to catch touchdown Atlanta. He's a little more than Matt Ryan. But I think size arm strength. You know, being a good decision maker that to me I think that's what you're hoping. If you drafting Jones in the first round, man, you're hoping that this is going to turn out to be another Matt Ryan in my opinion. I mean, I think that's a nice comparison. Because I think we can go back and look at Maryland's last year, Boston College. He didn't have the biggest arm. He had a ton of interceptions. But he was very very efficient. And we need is played at his best in Atlanta is because he is efficient and they've surrounding them with what I call a Mercedes Benz of office of weapons around him. And so if you finally get a chance to look at Daniel Jones with high level playmakers man who knows how good he could be. If you really ask them a+ weapons on the outside. So I think the mayor rang comparison is he's more athletic than Matt Ryan. But in terms of the way to place, I could certainly envision him rolling into a Matt Ryan type player in the right off. We're talking about him a little bit as a player. Let's learn about him as a person and who better to talk to that his parents. Well, buck as our own kids get older, I can't imagine being in the position that our next guests have been in to watch your son, go through the college football process and be right here on the doorstep of becoming an NFL player in Steve I want to start with you on this one just where would win was the first time with Daniel that you realize, you know, what this might not be a high school thing or a college thing, I might have a professional football player under my roof. Let's. That's not an easy question because it gets felt like. All along had and all this month. And but I guess the Notre Dame game that you mentioned the other day. Go in that place on that day that stage and. The big enough. Do you get the job done and enjoy it thoroughly enjoy it all aspects of it before during and after the game. I guess I felt like that day. He might have. He might be spelled shoot special enough. That makes sense absolutely is racist and talk through high school coach high school coach talked about he nicknamed him swag. And so on the outside end looks like a very very quiet kid doesn't say much kinda soft-spoken, but he talked about that confidence bubbling up. So when you guys watched him growing up how did that confidence of minute fest itself in the way that he played in participated in things. I think Bucky it was just the way he always approached every sport he played a main. He he always took things and the details of the sport very seriously from the beginning, whether it was basketball across and certainly football. But it was always something that meant a lot to him from how the gear was in being on time. And he just took everything very seriously the uniform had to be right sweatpants socks. You know? I didn't know that khloe Ted a little tool that you could use adjust them infest that it was just all along. It was a really interesting to watch him approach every practice every game that same way. Steve I want to get back to you on this one for those that don't know me buck. You've done our homework, and we know the background of athletics in your family. How important is and just all the athletes. You guys have there in the Jones family. So if you can just just let the folks at home know, what the athletic background is of the other children. And then how how competitive I would imagine it was pretty competitive, whether it's ping pong or or shooting hoops, playing horse whatever I'd imagine. It was a very competitive household. One of the best investments I ever made was seventy seventy two it's gorilla. Goal can allow concrete. Every every night, you know, just about every night, and they were all together after a certain age, even when ruin through very small a lot of to onto it was a lot of battling. And I think they all benefited from that type of play together. And they they get it and soccer and anything in New York that were so they each other on his mom said something earlier, and and it worked, you know, they were so from back to Liz. Maybe a junior how school of we read. The. Field hockey camp for extravaganza. And Phoenix she dad, I'm gonna play college feel hawk and I think when she she did play went on and play college field hockey, everybody saw that you know, I can do that too. After dateable the long thanking was his idea to play this far as long as far as he could play. But of course, they came along with the Davidson the play basketball, and that's working real. Well, he's having been a great experience for Bob McKillop them. The Davidson Wildcats. It's just a special thing and Ruthie
