"Did try to get the. Supreme Court to ignore the whole ballot in case clash with the attorney general and it's a crazy thing we've been talking. We've been keeping up with this. Because, we WANNA, make sure that when it comes to the balloting, we don't have any kind of shenanigans like we did in twenty sixteen evenly like we did recently. In the center ring of the conservative circus, we have a David Stevens he's the he's county recorder a right off the Bat. What do you make of the fact that our secretary of state refused to defend Arizona Law in court in the recent voter registration extension case. Well. Thank you Jim Cheap and me on. The actually goes beyond that. She failed to notify us as it was going to happen There's fifteen elected officials that actually do this work. We weren't there at the first case we weren't there second attempt they. She initially wasn't going to appeal the ruling which which vacated the state laws around the nineties about the twenty nine day closer. So. we decided as counties where we're going to start doing our own thing and the suggestion came out one. We just all jumped on the and Meka spree the governor. But. Ironically, only ten recorders jumped onto that reporters chose not to just say neutral or be in favor of vacating the state law. So that went through and the original date was the twenty third The sector safe filed a brief after she got four semi she got forced into it 'cause the attorney general the governor got involved and she came out with this. Well, let's cancel on the sixteenth. And our question we've been on two phone calls this week where did the sixteenth come from? We were pressing her some of us were on these answers. Well, she came up with out of out of the blue. Like who have you talked about this nobody she hasn't talked to any recorder. She just made up the day out out of out of thin air, but she wanted to make it sixteen. For the tissues grace, period and thank goodness..

You can have it if you want them for them to go, you know, do whatever I have the sexy one Hold on playing like you guys can we can do that. I caught it because we can't do that. Um, this is kind of amazing When someone retires after many years with the company. They typically get a gift from the employer, right? I don't know if you do hear, I don't think you do. I think it's double the door hit you on the way out of anything. But the boss of one UK company is the one handing out gifts on his way out the door. His name is David Stevens, chief executive of Admiral, which is a car insurance company. He's retiring from the business. He started with a team of just 57 back in 2000, for they've now grown to 10,500 employees worldwide, and he's giving them $12.7 million to split. Now That doesn't mean a lot for each individual person. But I think it means 1200 bucks for each full timer and 635 for each part timer, But he could just keep it right. 12 million bucks. Just be like your marriage. She is 20 million Mohr, you know, put in my P. J. Let's ride into the sunset or whatever, but he wanted to say thank you to all the admiral staff. He said. This was the right thing to do. We're proud, unfortunate to have worked with such a special group of people because you people leave are they get canned? And then they get like these golden parachutes of gazillion dollars or whatever. And he gave it back was nice in that nice man. Me and maybe we should play the sexy women seem way here. Yeah, Mama takes, you know 45 minutes to live instead actually get an email. Fred show is on one of three..

"Of sense of ways I think how do you feel about the event this week how it's all played out? Yeah. I mean you kind of you said that I have. Never really been a fan of political pageantry, I. Think at best is kitsch worst. It looks quite fascist. So I'm kinda relieved to see less of the performance cervitti fewer people standing in front of banks of. Stars and Stripes flags although that's more of a Republican vibe I admit. I think you know what we need. The moment is very serious contemplation of the issues America and really the Western World Faces and how we can start to resolve those and I think that a platform without the cheering crowds where carefully thought through statements and sentiments can be allowed can be digested where they can be left to resonate is probably of more use than baying mobs in whatever political leaning kind of. "Think a minute during a football game I'm of Augsburg University in America Augsburg was losing but late in the game defensive tackle David Stevens came off the bench and sparked a comeback in his teammates he made two important tackles and recovered a fumble to get the ball back for his team. The crowd cheered and roared as he held the ball up high to inspire his team David Stevens was born to a woman who had taken an anti nausea drug for pregnant women in the early nineteen sixties but the drug ended up causing terrible birth defects so David was born with no legs David's mother then abandoning making his tragic young life even worse but then David was adopted bill and be Stevens David new father and mother loved him very much they supported and encouraged him as well as challenged him to do his very best to reach his full potential even though he had no legs they made him learn to do things for himself and they never put him in a wheelchair instead when David was three years old they had special artificial legs made for him in school David became a student leader made good grades and had many friends in fact he not only played football also basketball baseball and hockey he even became a champion wrestler when he started driving a car the license bureau offered him handicapped license plates but he politely refused saying those are for people who really need them I'm not disabled you see from the time he was young David was taught never to think of himself as disadvantaged or a cripple instead he learned to discipline and train himself so he was able to do so much more than anyone ever thought he could and whatever problem or obstacle might be facing youtube can discipline yourself to either rise above it or push right through it to achieve your life goals and dreams so today why not ask Jesus give you free wrong attitudes and way of living than ask him to take control of your heart and character so no matter what difficulties you face he'll help you with his power to start disciplining in training yourself to reach your full potential and fulfill all the great plans he has for you just think a minute thank him in it short to the point thought provoking and memorable this came on the radio in the morning while I was on the way into the office I can see myself turning up the volume a little leaning in then when I get to the office saying hey did you hear about that football player I'm thinking today in radio seconds count ten seconds for the intro then Jan talked for about two minutes ten seconds been an invitation to their worship services or pointless interest to a website then they do their own tagline the end why people's church crafting a two messages usually quite a bit more challenging than writing a thirty minute message it's like every word has to count and we know how many signs it can be and yeah so it is it is it is tough I mean you can put in a lot than intro with humor with illustrations with points with a closing all in two minutes the Gettysburg address was two minutes long and considered probably the most the greatest and most effective speech in American history by any means we're going to get to where this all started but now today thinking is global it's used by local churches to connect with nonbelievers through radio also other formats like tv daily newspaper columns and English teaching outreach I think a minute has a presence at least thirty eight countries thirty eight let me just give you a few on the list the Philippines Thailand Japan Uganda Ethiopia Germany Croatia Spain Argentina Mexico and Sri Lanka Dijon Wickramaratne E radio on five stations three times a day top FM stations and about two million people listening it's become very very popular in the capital of and they have about one hundred thousand people getting the messages by text SMS text.

"He what he wanted was to foster understanding which he says is another word for love. He says, sort of evil comes out when we have sort of these ideas about other people. So I think it, you know, as VR is sort of the ultimate VR empathy machine, but he does it so artfully and convincing. Did you did you. You think things about that experience that you hadn't previously thought or consider perspectives you hadn't previously considered? Of course, I mean, I have to tell you the whole thing was sort of like is still with me. It's been two days. I right. The news I read for the news and you, you know you, you're writing about them. And like, even though if you have a lot of sympathy for people you're writing about, you're never really in their shoes and you're never really in their spots. And somehow we tend to conceptualize the sort of very hard issues but sort of being in the VR experienced, you're basically one of them and you're crossing the border, and you know a gun is being a pointed at you and you, you're in this sort of like cook, very panic situation. So to to be there sort of. Absolutely. It's it's sort of like gives. "The the target is I mentioned at the beginning is to have all of France's plastic recycled by twenty twenty five. Now the current figure is about a quarter that's a very ambitious target to massively increase the amount of recycled plastic and use in in just seven years. Yeah. Yeah, you're right. And and I think it will only be possible if if we also work on on waste reduction, especially since some some kinds of plastics are not recyclable now. So those plastic that that we can recycle. This should be totally from bidden. It's the only way to to reach this ambitious target Mike every country that's struggling with this issue. I suppose that's a balance between the extent to which you appeal to the better nature of consumers and businesses and hope that they will want to do what's. It's rights and the extent to which you do impose charges and taxes. Yeah, yeah, of course. And it's a balance between what consumers can do, what the industry should do and what the government can do. And then the municipalities as well because of course, we didn't day for from all the people and we, we need them to move forward at the same time, which is a difficult thing to you. Mobis the attitude in from two cools to consumers, what's there after Jude to the coals to do more to be cycled plastic to avoid waste. I think that consumers I really asking for change, especially in plastic. The last six months of been a very invents with with some consumers doing even said some plastic attacks. I don't know if there's been some coverage in in England that, but I think. There is really a a real change in the way we think about the plastic and plastic items and placing packaging, which might in a way the best way to persuade businesses to change their behavior. If they actually if they think there's more money in meeting that consumer demand to be more environmentally friendly thought might have more of an impact than imposing charges on them. I actually, I think that's a really, that's that's something that consumers should think of when they're doing shopping and the choices did the consumers are making when they're buying some food are really important to move industry towards more recycling and less packaging, which is the priority. From zero waste, FRANZ. Thank you very much for your time, this evening, and that is it for this edition of the monocle daily. "Basically, they are already emulating the exact same model that had old Hollywood really propped up and made it bulletproof. It's already happening now. It happens already all Ghibli insofar as the number of big cinema makers now is so small. Now, the little lots and lots of small production houses have been swallowed up by the big base anyway is actually a need for this lowers it's just happened organically. Anyway. I do think that's what they're going to find out. So so the the plan here for the Justice department is that they're going to have a period of consultation. So various different stakeholders will be able to have their voices heard. And I think quite clearly, you're going to have people from these companies. He basically telling the government that this Lori is old fashioned that has. No place in in today's in today's marketplace. And it doesn't make any sense for something like Warner Brothers and universal to be governed under this law from nineteen forty eight, the underpinnings of which actually stretched way back to a lull from eighteen ninety. That's how far back in history where talking here it doesn't make any sense for them to be governed by this and for other companies that have just been shooting through the roof, Netflix and Amazon and all the rest of them for them to be able to just go about their business on Turbe by any sort of legal ramifications.
