Desmond baines scored 23 points as the Memphis Grizzlies completed a two game sweep of the Dallas Mavericks, one O four 88. The bears are set to give linebacker tremaine Edmonds a four year $72 million contract and the Steelers are bringing on three time all pro corner Patrick Peterson for a two year deal. "Where are you able to kind of hide him? Is he guarding threes? He's too small to really guard fours. I don't know if the feet are good enough to guard threes. If you have some shot blockers, if you have some guys rotationally, that'll help mask a little bit. He has some intriguing offensive tools that are funky. They are. And they'll be able to put the pressure on the opposing team by using that funkiness. You're up. You're on the clock here. I hope this is laughing. No, I haven't said it. I didn't see that. I just didn't see it. I didn't see that coming out of Adam silver smile. I'm surprised, more than anything. Yeah, this one is not one that I like. Look, I like the idea of David roddy as a player. I really want to root for him. He's exceptionally fun as a player as well. It is cool to watch a guy who is 6 foot 5, 260 pounds with like extremely low body fat, use angles and be able to just create separation with spin moves and like leverage. Is a baller, like he is a hooper in every sense of the word. And like I actually really buy him offensively to be honest. I think it's going to work offensively. He is a 40% three point shooter. He looks like a 40% three point shooter when he is shooting from a sandstone. I don't think he, I don't know who he defends. Colorado saves horrible defensively this year. He is not very good defensively. It's going to be a challenge. But you know what? We just talked about this with Jake laravia, like this is a team that figures it out on that end because they have jaren Jackson and they have great institutional knowledge. I am a fan of Memphis. I am confused by this one, I guess, is what I would say just because I wonder if you could have gotten him at like 40 as opposed to moving the other part of this is moving dancing melting for him and that I just, I can't get behind that at all. Because I like the Anthony, I'm not quite as high as like the analytics, basketball community is on the Anthony, but I think he is like a very impactful 6th man. And I worry about David Ron being this, but Memphis has their board. They stick to their board and they don't give a shit what anyone else thinks..

"Stevens of dnv broncos zach before we bust into all things von miller and trade deadline. All the broncos of course seeing the news about henry rugs. I mean it doesn't matter if he's in the division. nfl whatever. This is always just a really really tough story. To take that henry rugs was involved in charged with a d you with dui resulting in death That's a it's a tough story man. Yeah i mean a story that you never wanna see regardless of you know if it's even in a sport let alone in the nfl or let alone within the broncos division just a terrible situation where you know he's being charged with a dui resulting in depth like you said And it's it's awful that that that happened and just this morning. That happened but Yeah i mean it. Obviously impacts the the broncos in the football. I in the raiders as well because broncos still have another game against the raiders and man i. I wouldn't think with this at least that the broncos will be playing against henry rugs this year. Yeah no doubt about it and again it just seems to be part of not that they're comparable but just in another situation for the raiders to try to have to figure out it seems like it's been that way for for a few years now but we'll We'll keep our eyes peeled to see what this guy's they said. It's an ongoing investigation. So sure maybe more will come out on the story. Zak stevens joining us from dnv broncos zach. Yesterday was a was a pretty big day for the broncos So well apparently they're you know vic fangio now they had a you know we moved on from von which is bittersweet. Because i think if you're looking at it from if just a straight up fan person van boy finger whatever your because my wife looked at me she goes. Wow that's so sad. Why would we do that. And you know my wife's not digging into the xs and owes of it guys like us act sophisticated guys of course Look at that and say man. Second third round. Pick for a team. That's probably not going anywhere. I i'll tell you that. Yeah and and you know i. It was a tough day yesterday for emotions brady and you're exactly right Just on the surface. It's tough to see von miller traded. But when you dive into it the broncos did really good in this trade by getting a second and a third round packing me back and yes they are paying nine million dollars salary but brady the broncos are we're going to pay nine point seven million dollars of the rest of his salary this year if he stayed on the team anyway so it doesn't really impact them. They have the money they have the cap space anyways. So i loved at the broncos paid that salary in order to get even bigger return for von miller and look brady if the past the first month of the season it really looked like von had an opportunity to retire as bronco. Look he one. Afc defensive player of the month in september four sacks and three games the broncos were three you know it seemed like i could finally see situation in which he was going to be a bronco for the rest of his career but then this past month completely derailed. That von was struggling. The broncos were struggling. And i just did not see a situation where von was going to stay a bronco for life..

"Which is the perfect kinda coach. Isn't that definitely. Yeah he can. He can definitely turned the tables real quick and get very very intense and very loud. But you know. Coach is is one of the You know adjustable coaches that i've met. He's one of the smartest coaches i've met as well. he adjusts on the fly which makes him a a really great coach. Exit knows and as well as you know. He's an empathetic coaches. Well he understands you know. There's a life beyond basketball that you know that we would. We live so You know he takes us inside and say hey how you doing off the court and is everything all good if if you know we aren't planning to the level that we're supposed to or anything like that. He doesn't really get on you for that. Yeah he he challenges you. In in hold you accountable. But after that he really talks you say it has anything anything i can do to help you and everything. So he's definitely a great mentor for me. It seems like a great mix. It really does speaking of life outside basketball. You and i talked a lot your rocker. Which makes me extremely happy. Because it's the only kind of music. I listened to my wife's versatile she'll listen to a bunch of stuff but i'm a rocker. So meeting a fellow rockers. Going to be exciting. Yeah yeah my music. Taste is pretty versatile. I think that comes from my father playing it before you know. Pop warner games as well as just the football mindset really is just a lot of rock music around me so i've become grown is grown on me a lot so you like some of the stuff i sent over to you fosse. That was pretty good. Those pretty good good as well keep can keep sending these for sure. There's gonna be. Mrs i'm sure and you're going to be like I'm going to be like. Why is he still screaming. "So you know coach and you know aaron katz who has done an amazing job with scheduling this year. I'm just super super excited to be in big games all the time. That's really what what we signed up for. I keep coming back to that. you know. that's really what you know. We we strive to be as a program and know. Hopefully we can win big games and you know we're putting that situation so super super exciting david. We're in a day and age in college sports where there's the well obviously then l stuff. There's the transfer portal stuff. i mean. You're seeing players football basketball. Whatever into this thing. I just picture it like people going through portals left and right and it's hard to keep track of. That's not the case with colorado state basketball. What is it is it because you see the opportunities in front of you. to achieve greatness. The coaching staff is the togetherness is at fort collins. What is it. I think it's really every everything You know the the coaching staff has done an amazing job of being transparent with everybody. You know they don't promise anything they say. Hey you know if you come in and perform well you'll play But you gotta understand your role on the team and you know it's just it's just the the high character guys that we have on the team as well you know understanding their role and understanding. Hey you know you might not play as much this year but you know in two years from now. This conference is yours so You know just having the right group of guys and again the right community. The amazing fans and culture around four collins and see issue is just you know why leave when you can do something special here rather than just being acog and other wheel at a at a big school or you're one of those guys. Stevens is one of those guys that got opportunities and you just sprinted with those opportunities so that's got to be an encouraging things for young players that look at that and say maybe not scheduled to get some playing time right off the bat but look at these guys. Now they're superstars right. Yeah just trusting the process and and working everyday that's and being consistent. That's the biggest thing i can you know share with the with the younger is is just understanding your role. And you know. We'll we all played the role Before so you just have to. you know. "You know he's a good shooter and everything. But i got how. How rare is it to have the relationship like you guys. Have it again from what you see from other guys in different on different teams. I mean i. I saw in the off season as your ended up. Some offseason stuff you guys ended up just having like a fun day. A kick ball and all that stuff. How rare is that. Do you see that all the time or is this kind of a rarity for this program. It's pretty cool. I feel like it's slightly a rarity. I know about a few other programs that do it as well. But you know just having that funday of you know clearing your mind and understanding like hey. It's still the summer you guys can still you know. Enjoy your time. I feel like that's the biggest thing is finding that balance especially in the summer because we came off of a disappointing ending to the season last year. But you know we capitalized on it. And that's really was our main focus over the summer was to get better and grind. But you gotta understand you gotta take. Time like hey. You're a college student as well and you can. You can have fun. You can go out with your friends as well and kickball was just one of the you know good staples look what style kick ball was it. Because there's the regular that's like baseball style. But then there's always a kangaroo kickball it was the regular style. I think the the match ups were weird. Though it was like a bunch of people on each team it was like ten on each team so Took forever together forever to get up every time you hit the ball it was just be out because it will just land in someone's hand so this pretty frustrating remember jake. Denison actually almost hit her home. Run with with it so he definitely helped our team win. Would that be your secondary sport. Well no secondary sport would be football right right right. I mean every broadcast by the way you know this right. You've heard us every tv broadcast angel. I'm telling you that you watched colorado state play. I'm gonna. I'm gonna start doing like an over under thing. How many times will they mention that. David roddy also played football. Also pretty damn good and there's also an over under how many. How many bits of footage will they show of some of those. I haven't seen any footage it. I've definitely heard it usually in the beginning. Middle and end of games your weather. I'm trying to watch film as well with ali and he has a sound on. It's like oh check out. His football highlights. The sound like do like haven't played football in two and a half years two and a half years of college basketball. And you guys want to bring that up but you know it's it's it's an interesting facet to to my life as well you know. I was a three sport athlete in high school. So you know. I was must have been pretty good to be talked about all the time. But it's just an interesting nugget for them and i'm fine with it. Positions are always different from high school transitioning into college. If you were playing football today what position do you think. You play if i if i chose full bob. You playing quarterback you would be playing stick with with what you know for sure..

But you know just having that fun day of you know clearing your mind and understanding like hey. It's still the summer you guys can. Still you know. enjoy your time. I feel like that's the biggest thing is finding that balance especially in the summer because you know we came off of a disappointing ending to the season last year. But we capitalized on it. And that's really was our main focus over the summer was to get better and grind. But you gotta understand you gotta take. Time like hey. You're a college student as well and you can. You can have fun. You can go out with your friends as well and kickball was just one of the you know good staples look what style kick ball was it. Because there's the regular that's like baseball style. And there's a kangaroo kickball it was the regular style. I think the the matchups were weird. Though it was like a bunch of people on each team it was like ten on each team so forever together forever to get up every time you hit the ball it was just be out because it will just land in someone's hand so this pretty frustrating. I remember jake denison actually almost hit a home run with with it so he definitely helped our team win. Would that be your secondary sport. Well no your secondary sport football right right right. I mean every broadcast by the way you you've heard every tv broadcast angel. I'm telling you you watch colorado state play. I'm gonna. I'm going to start doing like an over under thing. How many times will they mentioned that. David roddy also played football. Also pretty damn good and there's also over under how many. How many bits of footage will they show of some of those. Haven't seen any footage it. I've definitely heard it usually in the beginning. Middle and end of games your weather. I'm trying to watch film as well with all ali and he has a sound on. It's like oh checkout football highlights as the sound like do like. I haven't played football in two and a half years and a half years of college basketball. And you guys want to bring that up but you know it's it's a it's an interesting facet to to my life as well you know. I was a three sport athlete in high school. So must have been pretty good to be talked about all the time. But it's just an interesting nugget for them. And i'm fine with it. Positions are always different from high school transitioning into college. If you were playing football today what position do you think you play. If i if. I chose bob playing quarterback stick with what you know for sure. People will definitely drool over the idea of me playing tight end. But you know. I feel like i'm a better quarterback than tight end. I only played tight end one year of my life which was in seventh grade. "Day by day But it's definitely it's a huge thing for me is as well as the team is. Just you know. We're getting our respect now and now we just have to acknowledge that and just again take a day by day as it feel any different than any season before or is it just like no. It's the same thing too. We're not talking about that or does it feel different. Do you kind of walk around going. Yeah i mean. We're expected to be the best in this conference. I feel like it hasn't changed anything. Our approach is still the same. We're still very hungry. Every single practice and we work extremely hard and we compete even harder so You know we just we understand you know where we are in in the conference and we expect to win a lot of games a season. But you know again. It's just we have to a deliberate mindset each practice. Yeah i think i to me. It's been just such a joy to watch you know talking to coach medved from when we started. And you know i mean he's his record has just gone up with you guys going up and it is a fun thing to watch you all grow together and it's a unique feel to it and i don't just say that because you're in here and you're much bigger than me david. It's a unique feel to this program. Where yes you're talented. But you're also so all of you guys are so likable head. Coaching staffs likable. I mean i've talked to several the assistance there likable. It's just a good group to get behind it to me when you are trying to put a program on the map. Yes you have to have skill but having that personnel those personalities. It's just second to none. Yeah it just builds the culture that we're trying to build you know with adam thistle but income a more starting it out and then you know the the huge recruiting group of of my class with john. And you started going through everybody on that roster man and he was genuine and you see it and i told coach and he's like all that's awesome.
