Bruins rout Sabres 7-1, become fastest team to 100 points

"The bruins hammered the saber 7 one to become the fastest team in NHL history to reach 100 points. David pastrnak had a goal and two assists, hours after signing an 8 year $90 million contract extension. Very thankful to be part of this organization and sign another extension. It's been a home for us. So we're really excited as a family to stay here. Jakob lako scored twice. Dimitri orlov added a goal and two assists, and Jeremy swayman stopped 26 shots in Boston's knife consecutive win. I'm Dave ferry.

"The player he is right now. What do you have in David pasternak? And you said at the start, a really interesting thing that they kind of know what they have and what he's trending towards as a player. I think the year he's having in this context gives you a lot more confidence moving forward and whatever that deal's going to be. Yeah, and I think two years ago, if you ask the bruins, are David pastor and I can Charlie mcavoy going to be your team going forward? Are they going to be the forces around this whole thing that drive this whole thing? I think they would have said yes, but I think it would have come with a little bit of trepidation, you know, is David pastrnak somebody you can build a franchise around. I think he's showing yes. I think that if you're getting into David Foster Knox age, 30, 31, 32 seasons. He's going to be the central figure here. There's going to be no more, no more, no more bergeron, Martian is going to be maybe the second or third line guy at that point you would think based on Asian curves. But I mean, he is that guy. And one of the things that he's done this year by playing the way he has is brought David Gracie back from check to the NHL, seamlessly. He was so excited to play with him the way that they think the game together and kind of the little touch plays that they like to make, you know, they always seem to find each other. They loved playing together on national teams going back to 5 or 6 years. And then you had Pavel Zach into the mix who loves both of their games has always grown up watching David creche, David pasternak, a year ahead of him in check, so he's looking up to him, you know, how does he do things? So then he gets a chance to play with those guys, and he becomes the offensive player that I think everybody wanted him to be in Jersey. I shouldn't probably shouldn't say that he's there yet, but certainly he's trending in a much better direction offensively. And it's been there's been some missed opportunities though. Yeah, absolutely. But they're trying so much out there. That line of zaka and creatine pasternak are trying these little, these little touch plays, you know, these little kind of like they're almost like chipping it around in certain points like thinking that the other player will get to epoch or make a play quickly with a quick move against the defender. They're allowed to try that much. Obviously, because you could use them as just a scoring line, and that's it. Just put them out there in purely offensive situations and nothing else because you know you have the Berger online. You know you have Charlie Coyle's line with Taylor hall on it. To handle so much of the heavy work, it's just a great situation for them.

"The bruins are 12 and two after Charlie mcavoy scored the tie breaking goal in a three to one victory against the flames Not how to preseason to get ready so it was a little definitely nervous that I all day to day and excited the good kind of nerves Mac voice snapped a one to one deadlock with one 33 left in the second period David pastrnak had an empty netter and assist for the top team in the Eastern Conference Connor Clifton also scored in Lena's ulmar made 31 saves blanking Calgary after Noah hanifin opened the scoring four 33 into the game The flames went zero for 6 on the power play and fell to O 5 and two in their last 7 games since a 5 in one start I'm Jane ferry

"Where are you going to be starting from? Like, again, if you're around 500, yes, you could absolutely go on a second half run there. It seems like the brooms do it every single year where they get hot in February and March and April and kind of get rolling to the playoffs. But where are you going to be sat in front? That's going to be the issue because you better be hoping that either swayman and Omar are locked in at the start or pasta knock and hall and some of these other guys are leading the way because it's going to be tough. There's going to be some rough stretches, I think, especially in October, November, in early December where we're going to have quite a few podcasts of us just being like, we'll see what happens. I really don't have a great this team right now. They're missing arguably the best all around left wing in the game and what I think we should say is a top three defense in the league. Yes. Yeah. No, I mean, it is brutal. I also think it goes to show you and this is just another reminder of how far the bruins are away from contending for a cop away. And again, I separate contending for a playoff spot from contending for a cup. Lots of teams make them playoffs. Did the capitals have a sniff at the cup this year? No. Like there are so many teams like that that, you know, they get in. Like the predators when they got in this year and I had to face the abs. That's stupid. Like, yeah, you could play off game tickets, but what cost? You could have dealt at home and forsberg in the past bunch of years. But you look at like this stretch. You know, are they close to Tampa? No, Florida, no, Caroline, a really not at all. Colorado, no. Vegas even know. Like in Vegas has to figure out their net situation. So that's a whole different can of worms, but still that roster should be a lot better than it has been. And oh, by the way, they have Bruce Cassidy coaching the team. So you can probably expect they're going to at least be in the playoff picture. And then Arizona's Arizona, whatever. There'll be an ASU. Maybe we'll go out there and pretend we're in college again. Just for that. But yeah, rough, rough, rough ass schedule. Especially in that stretch. And by the way, every team goes through that. But for them to have that, it's such a dire time with their roster. Not great for them. Not too great. Anyways. Yes. Anyways, well, the bruins don't have a first round pick. At least as of as of recording this, they don't have a first round pick. They do have multiple day two picks in the second through 7th round. Day two prospects. Obviously everybody looks at centers, you got like Jack Hughes and northeastern, that's the big one that everybody loves. You wrote about him saying that, you know, he checks all the boxes. He's a local kid. Thanks for hockey. You know that if they draft a Jack Hughes, all the Bernie Sanders just be like, another freaking local kid that we got to hear about. But he's good. He's very good.

"A lot of guys would kill to have regular minutes next to Berger on a march end, but he made the most of it in that situation. So I think for debris, it wasn't just the fact that that friction with Cassidy and those things. But I think for him, probably a lot of what was the writing on the wall for him was probably the Taylor hall trade where he probably looked at them and be like, all right, well I'm not. So planting hall, I'm not supplanting marsh hand. Am I just going to be a third line guy now? Because that's where I don't want to be. Especially you mean you look at that previous UT, you spent time on the third line on the right side too. You even had like Nick Ritchie in front of him on the depth chart. So I look at this situation now where if you can keep him in that top 6 spot, whether it's on the top line for the first month when Martians out or then you switch them over to the right side and like Montgomery wants to keep marchand bergeron and de brusque and then Paul pasternak and creature, whoever, pretty good top 6 and one, you're going to get a lot of production from both those lines and you're going to have a very happy Jake de brus because I think if he plays a full season with those two guys, you're probably getting 25, 30 goals. So right now it seems like it's more or less a win win. I know this bruins fans will probably upset that a lot of the comments I've seen on my stories or the general reaction is some people are happy. Some people are like, oh, you go out his way. I don't even want him on the team. Got to take the long look here. You've got a guy who can give you 25, 30 goals even. It was one of the few guys that has, even though he's inconsistent, has had a knack for giving you even strength offense, something that this team does not usually have. Any sign for 4 million a year. So I think you look at this team and if this is a team that is looking to build or at least run it back next year, you need a guy like the bras. That's why even when we talked about trading back into the first round. Yeah, brassicas and obvious fit there, but if you're looking at this bruins team and what they need, I don't think you're moving a guy like the brass for what he can give you now that he's bought in for a guy for a pick that gets you what the 21st overall pick or something like that. You don't want to get really moves the needle, especially. So again, I don't think it was just falls on Cassidy, I think for de Broglie's kind of realizing that he's fallen into a pretty good situation here. If he's guaranteed those top 6 minutes, so I think both him and the team really can't be upset with how things have played out now, especially to bras. If you keep him with Berger on a Martian for another year or two, who knows along bergeron, it's going to play her if he's back, but

"You'd rather have a young guy in your own system who's cheaper, development may be become, again, like if you get like a guy like Yamamoto or Appleton, what's like their ceiling, right? 30 point guy, ten, 15 goals, maybe you hope Steen becomes that. Maybe that's just jumping the gun for a guy with a small sample size, but I think if you're the broods, you'd much rather use a trade chip in Nebraska as part of a larger package to get. Again, guys, we've said countless signs are for a hurdle, a guy on defense. I think he'd rather do that. And if a guy like stinky kind of plug in that hole in that third line and be another productive middle 6 guy that can chip in offensively, then maybe that's a solid solution there to replace Deborah's in terms of just his spot in the lineup. Yes. And one thing about depth players is they're going to need them and this I'm coming stretch. 5 games in 7 days starting today Thursday. The wild, then you go to Tampa, then you go to Washington, then you come home against Montreal, you're then home again against Philly and your home against Nashville, but that's not exactly in the 5 days, 7 days span, but it's still a game coming up. And it's like a 7 7 game home stand. So yeah, the schedule ramps up. And they still haven't even announced where these new games are going until like February. You click ahead to February and it's still nothing. No, I didn't. I didn't even realize they're home a bunch. Yeah. A ton. I was just looking at the opponents I wasn't looking at the I'm on a daily basis here. I'm not looking at the time as a flat circle. Yeah, time doesn't exist anymore. But they are going to be jam packed with games. Which is why, again, I think there's a huge stretch for Oscar steam, where you can carve out a legit role for yourself in these next few games. And also with the goaltending too, because January 12th is coming up soon, which is the date that they kind of had circle for two to ask another thing we have to watch. So this upcoming strategy is going to be very, very fun. Lots of things to watch for and games to watch. You know, it's funny, it's a complete opposite of December, where we were kind of sitting at home December nights being like, what do we do? Now it's like, well, don't we do? There's so many things to do. So anyways, Connor, before we go, what can the people look forward to over at BSG? Yeah, it's obviously been a very busy week. We've been breaking down all of the key moments from the bruins winning streak. We looked at secondary scoring expectations for Oscar Steen. I'm sure we'll see more guys get reps going forward..

"Speaking of Boston accents, how about Brian Kelly? Yeah. Dropping that dude. Some people were like, oh, maybe it's a joke. And I was like, that was not said as a joke. That was not completely serious. And that dude's just like completely frazzled going down there. He probably thinks like going to Louisiana's like going to like the Popeyes over by Fenway. And it's far from it, pal. So you go from, where's it even from Chelsea? He's from Chelsea, right? Yeah, he's from mass. I know that. So he goes from that to having like Caleb crawdad on like that awful introduction he had for the basketball game that then doubling down about Boston on having accents. Like, dude, literally like, if you ask people, what's maybe the most discernible accent? It's like probably the New York of Boston, right? What do you do 100%? You idiot. That dude just southern's pretty discernible too. Like this, you know? That sounds like a molasses. I love me some Popeyes fried chicken. Yeah. You did a frigging bed of job than Brian Kelly doing his introduction down to the basketball game. I'm so ready to get some Reddit down here real soon. It's like shut up. Brian Kelly lost his fan banner captain privileges by disrespecting the entire Commonwealth of Massachusetts. So yes, you mentioned how you mentioned you mentioned Chelsea. It is not Chelsea. It's Everett. Everett. He's actually denied he's denied access to the Texas roadhouse and Everett now. His face. Or encore. Yes. Can't go to court anymore. He's done. No, I'm totally for banishing him from any he's a Massachusetts history or anything. I mean, ridiculous. By the way, I work in Atlanta technically, so I technically can do a southern accent. That's like part of my thing. Part of my thing. I say y'all now, even though I'm working for my fucking Brian Kelly as well. I'm going to tell you. I'm a complete fraud. I hope no one clips that. Anyways, I loved Sarah's reply to Brian Kelly's thing that you had to go to REI the other day, which must have just put your tongue in a pretzel. Yeah, it's not. It's not fun to say it. It was one of the first catch my catch myself and try not to do it now. That your RA on your dorm floor, like I can't say that. Yeah, it's bad. It's really, really bad. So, Brian Kelly, audio. Speaking of the accents, it's funny last night I was gonna tweet this and I didn't because I was like, oh, that's kinda lame. But do you remember a few years ago they did like a funny or die skit with Tom Brady? Yeah, if you're from Boston and he's clearly doesn't have an accent. I was like, I actually this clip is not as funny as I remember it when I was watching it when I was like 14 years old. That was like Brody started actually doing ads though. So you're like, oh, like breaking through anything now. That's like oat milk and I'll retweet it. I mean, I got when I was like, when I was like a freshman in high school. I got egg dress shoes because Tom Brady got them. Honest to God though they are so comfortable. I feel weird. I believe it. Yeah, no, I mean like complete corporate shell for that, but so competition. Yeah, no. When your feet feel good, everything feels good..

"Just off I 91 beside the MGM casino. Mentioned that I said to stop by for a sweet T-shirt for a penny for one penny or go to insta dot com or call 8 7 7 500 ensa, again, when you go, mention we sent you, you get for a penny. You get a T-shirt. Now, they sent me some of these t-shirts. Logan, they're actually pretty freaking cool. That's very cool. They actually are very cool. And I wear them a lot. So I highly recommend going and checking it out. It's a good time. And most importantly, the t-shirts rock. And they're great guys. So go support them. Okay, so finally, one of the biggest storylines coming into this year was on defense. They won't get Derrick forbert. What are the pairings going to be? Looks like it's going to be mcevoy to begin the year. And then that'd be grizzly and Clifford on the third pairing. Quickly, Cassidy is switched to kind of grizzly mcavoy pretty early on, which is great, right? They have good offensive zone time. They have good shot share, all these good stats. The double edged sword part of that is the flip side is you have Clifton and forever who are not so great on that they're bearing who have not been amazing. I mean, that's supported by not just stats. Like just watch the game. It's just not like watch the goals give it up. This has been a lot of breakdowns. What do you see this changing? Well, I first would like to say that if I have to see one more take that mcavoy forward is better than mcavoy grizzling. I'm burning my phone to leading Twitter and doing Twitter with Apple worst thing in the world. I should do that in the world. I'm going into complete solitude. It literally makes me it takes everything in my power to not just do natural stat trick. The numbers are so the numbers I tested every single way. Support the fact that mcavoy and grizzly should be together. Everything except this idea of the grip factor, which is the dumbest shit I've ever heard is supports the fact that grisly and mcavoy should be together. I get the drawback of putting forward with Clifton. At the same time, I think you're kind of stuck because they are supposed to be your third pairing, right? And, you know, they're not supposed to be complete world beaters, but they've got to be better than what they are. And this is probably more an indictment of four birth than anything, right? Because you can sit there and you can say, well, he played with true dowdy for a while. He played with Neil piano and Winnipeg. You know, he knows how to support those guys, to me, I'm starting to sit here and think, well, okay, sure, maybe there's also probably a much easier argument to be made, which is he was playing with Norris trophy caliber players, and they were probably bringing them along a little bit, right? And so when you put them with Conor Clifton, no disrespect. Norris trophy. He's not Charlie mcavoy, then he's probably going to get exposed way more than he would with Charlie mcavoy's shouldering the load on that pairing. So I think in a way you have to kind of ride it out with former Clifton and see how bad things would get. You know, because where you put forward with Carlo, I don't know and put Mike Riley with Clifton, that's probably not the most sound offensive pairing Riley Clifton. But if the thing is, you can't have three, just good but not great defensive pairings. Like if they're all going to be relatively average because you're putting forward with mcavoy, for example, then at a certain point you're just kind of rudderless and spinning your wheels. So that's why I'm a proponent of, well, you know that grids like mcavoy, I test and analytics will tell you, they are one of the best defensive pairings in the NHL, then you need to ride that out. Like if nothing else have an elite top pairing a pretty good slash good decent second pairing. And then the third pairing you man the harpoons and pray for the best. A lot of teams approach things that way. Right or wrong, but you have to kind of deal with a personnel that you have and to me it's like, why bogged down Charlie mcavoy with anything less than a player that's going to get the absolute best then and out of them. And that's kind of the approach that they've done. So I think they need to just suck it up and see what they have a little bit longer with a former Clifton pairing. Yeah, and also you can change pairings mid game. It's not like it's set in stone. You can switch things around. It's funny. You mentioned flipping for but with Riley. And I don't hate for Burton and Carlo, 'cause I think you use them in defense situations. I like Carl obviously. But putting Mike Riley with Clifton would scare the hell out of me. That would be a that would be a legitimate roller coaster. So I don't know if that would I don't know if that would fly. I think that would last maybe like two shifts and cast to be like, no. This is not happening. But I mean, I think the thing with Clifton is Clifton has to be a little more responsible. You know, we always say the cliffy hockey experience. And it was always kind of like this fun loving thing in the early days. But now that it's become like, you know, he's a regular. Like he's supposed to be in the lineup every night. You need him to be a little more responsible. So I think that has to happen. And then you're right. Is definitely getting exposed. But I expect him to get better. I don't expect former like to be a complete bust. I think it's, again, it's early on. He knew new signing, like, you know, things take time. I'm willing to wait it out, but you're right. I don't want to see him with mcavoy full time, especially considering it's Charlie mcavoy. You want to get the best out of him. You don't want mcavoy, you know, mcavoy's still only what he's 23. You don't want him lugging along his defensive partner. You want him to freaking have someone who's next to him who is getting the best out of him and he's getting the best out of them. So it's the grizzlies too. It's mutually. Yes. Like you're a better team when you're getting more out of matrix than when you're getting more out of Derek forbert. Oh, yes. And also, by the way, I don't want to see these beat, I don't want to see B you get more clout for stuff. If I don't want to see it, you and I can both agree we're both in different schools, but we both don't want to see B you get all this good press. But nonetheless, they are looking for a good pairing. They work well together. And they get the best out of each other. So that's who should be the top pairing. And you're right. I mean, the whole idea of like, oh, you know, they don't have enough grit. Grizzly doesn't have enough grit. It's like, well, you know, I would weigh rather have Chris look out there in certain situations because he can break the puck out. You know how many times I see, you know, Derek forbert, flip it up the wall or just not be able to get out of his own zone or those bigger guys, just kind of like mess up the breakout. It's infuriating. Nobody's better escaping pressure than grizzly. So I am all in on those two being the top pairing for sure. But anyways, Logan, the I cosign Logan, thank you for joining from your car. Before you go, what can the listeners look out for from you? What should they do? Listeners can look out for the Ness and bruins podcasts ever. Yes. Tuesday on.

"And we're here with Logan Mullen, Logan, what is up? What's up, Evan? I'm good. Nothing's up. Not exactly. You're in your car, though. Something's highly up. I am in my car. This was the best place for me to record today. So I am outside of a stop and shop in Rockville, Connecticut right now. Well, that's all that matters, I guess. You know, hey, it seems like it's good Wi-Fi. You could connection? Yeah, it's actually the hotspot on my phone. So as long as the connection's good, that's all that matters. So AT&T is doing its job. Well, you and you in people love doing brune's beat from your car because I had Andrew raycroft on a few weeks ago and he came right from his car. And it was actually like it was weirdly good. I was like, I was kinda worried 'cause no one had ever done one in their car before for bruins beat. Yeah. And I was like, wait a second. I'm kind of worried and I don't know him as well as I know you. So I could I feel like I could say to you, you know, hey, can you go inside or something, but it's Andrew raycroft? And I can't kick celeb. I can't be, you know. Yeah. Awesome. Good acoustics and everything. Nice natural lighting. It's a little humid in here, especially since I'm just like mouth breathing right now, but we're making it more. It's okay. It's okay. But anyways, speaking of annoying things, the bruins, weird schedule, do not play until Thursday, the fourth. Which is much later this week. So another big long break in between. And then so they play like four games in 6 days next week and then between the 14th and the 20th they don't play. What is with this weird ass schedule? I mean, there's no real reason for it. It's just odd. Yeah, I don't know. I've tried to figure out why it's so weird. And I have not been successful. And it's gonna be a mess too when they end up playing back to backs and every other night in April while they're trying to make a stretch run. This is gonna come back and be a storyline again and four months. Well, it's like when they did that people if people remember right, the longest break to burns have had in between games in the past three years, was that break between game four of the Eastern Conference final in 2019. And then the Stanley Cup, and I remember people saying, oh, the lay off the layoff. It's gonna become a story after. And lo and behold it did. It became a storyline. Well, Marshawn heard his hand because they had to play that scrimmage, right? And that was when Marshall heard his hand. Yep, that was that screw. I remember that screwed. That place was packed. It was kind of a lit scrip. I mean, the place was bumping because people could afford to go to games. Yes, yes, it was in $700 a ticket. Okay, so let's get into real brewing storylines that we can really talk about and have real analysis for. And the biggest storyline from this past batch of bruins games. Wasn't all that great. They obviously won the game against Florida, most recently, tough road swing down south. But Bruce Cassidy finally switched up the top two lines. He did midway through against Florida on Saturday. He he switched Craig Smith and David posternak, but it was different. I mean, I think going into what you would think, he'd want to get the second line going, but it was really to get those top line guys going. What were your initial takes on that whole? Switch. Well, I wish he had listened to the guy who was behind the bench during the was it the Carolina game who was saying yes or with bergeron and impostor knock, unfortunately he didn't do that. I understand it from the standpoint of having Craig Smith on the first line allows Brad Marshawn to not have to do quite as much dirty work. Infantry spurs are on for that matter. It's sort of akin to putting a Carson coolman on a line, right, where you get to put a guy there that just hunts pox and then we'll try and make things happen for his line. Mates who are more offensively gifted players. So in a vacuum, I understand the logic. At the same time, it's probably more of a referendum on poster knock than it is on anything Craig Smith is going to bring to that line. I mean, in an ideal world, you're probably keeping Craig Smith on the second or third line and lighting them just settle in, but I don't know. They had to figure out some way to get past or not going. And I don't know. I'm not exactly a proponent of moving them to the second line and thing that that'll work because it's not like he's playing with crazy again. He's playing with Charlie Coyle. So I don't know. I guess right now I was indifferent on it. It seems like Bruce cas wasn't that impressed with what he saw because the next day in practice he changed it right back, right? But I think it's more a matter of, you know, the ruins are pre beating down with injuries. When you have Curtis Lazar and your third line of fine player to be sure, but probably going to stagnate some of your other lines. And so a lot of the offensive burden was on the top 6. And when they couldn't get things going, I think they were at a place where they just had to tinker with a bunch of stuff to see if they could figure out what to JumpStart. Yeah, it's funny. I said before the year, you know, it would be a cool idea to try pasta down with hall and coil because I like the idea of the skills between hall and posture. Those are two very skilled guys. But then again, you mentioned the aspect of you like to have a guy in there that hunts for goes to the dirty areas, right? Martian is pretty good at that. Craig Smith, that's his thing. So to have hall with posture, you do miss a little bit of that, but there was a play, it's funny in the Saturday game. I don't know if you remember where it was sort of a pass between all three guys where they're coming up the boards. And I think he went from pastor knock to Coyle and then Coyle sauced it over to hall right in front of the Florida net. And it just went over Paul's stick. And I was thinking, if he just finished that play, that's so indicative for that line because that's kind of the skill plays they can make. 'cause Coyle hasn't been bad. No, it's not good. Coil's been fine. I think you coils done a lot better than most people thought early on. It's been sort of the injuries that have plagued sort of that whole middle 6. But I don't hate the idea of moving pasternak down temporarily. And we can get into the whole study of thing after. But what do you think is up with posture a? Is it just a just a slow kind of area or what's the deal? Yeah, I mean, I think it's probably more of just that he goes through these stretches like this. A lot of people are freaking out about it, but I mean, last year, he got off to that red hot start and once after he missed the first few weeks of the season, and then he was scoring like a menace for the first couple of weeks. And then he really leveled off. And he had some really cold stretches last season and he can be pretty hot and cold. And so I'm not really willing to go to a place where I'm concerned about him because short of one or two games he hasn't looked that great. I mean, I think it's probably just taking him a little bit to get going. I couldn't tell you why, but that happens for some guys. I think it's more concerning because historically that has not been as MO. So if you're not going to get the ups that usually come with them and you're only getting the downs.

It is freaking November, which is wild to me. And was even more wild as the bruins don't play for another like hundred years. Another hundred years, which I was just great. Great job by the schedule makers to just completely have the bruins have these weird breaks in between games, but they do not play. Again, until November 4th. And to talk about everything bruins. Had on my good friend Logan Mullen of Ness and dot com and we discussed the changes with the top lines that Bruce Cassidy made in the last game in the last couple of games. We talked about David pasternak, worry is there something wrong? We get into Jax te nika and what's it going to take for him to get going and maybe earn a spot in the lineup? And then we got into the fun of the musical chairs that is the defensive pairings. Who pairs with who? What is going to get Derek for Burke to get going? And we discussed all of those things and more. And today's episode, by the way, it's brought to you by bet online and go to both of those places more details later in this episode on both. "I'm not going to start her vacation off at this bad mojo here like a wallow in it myself and I think yeah, I think Alex and I had I think we were like nine and o or like eight an hour or something covered games together after that Bruins win streak just was that was that was like all you and me and then it was so funny that it was like Sean was on a game and I didn't even want to mention it. I just was kind of watching from afar and then I saw they lose and that Sean's doing the notes and the rap not like that's pretty funny. I don't know that's weird to me. But hey, I mean like still like wage we have like two losses between the two like we're still ride in the South. This is a run and I think only ones a regulation loss which is the one I did so my it's really not that bad still and I guess she was having three regulation losses and US accounting for one of them when we do the coverage isn't all that bad. So I'm going to take it and I'm going to ride this right to the Stanley Cup Final where they will go and we're things will be normal birth. Then we'll be on site again. It's going to be going to be fantastic. But seriously, like they really are playing so well and it's been a joy to like have a break from Celtics coverage when I get thrown on Bruins games because I don't know what they're starting to feel like they have that type of chemistry that can make them help them make another one of those deep runs that we've kind of grown like a costume to every year but last season the season just got squandered right and it just like got weird in the bubble and all that momentum. They built in the season was just lost but this year kind of feels a little more reminiscent of their Stanley Cup run a few years ago to me and especially with stuff like this. It's like Lake Tahoe trip. Let's start there. It was so fun just to watch a show up in ninety s gear just like it's fun. Like they did it with the when they did the Winter Classic when they showed peaky blinders gear like it's it's just a lot of fun and it kind of gets like the the dog And set for the game beforehand. I was like, oh no way. The Bruins are losing this game just the scenery alone and that came with beautiful the sunset and just the mountains and the trees and the lake. It was just like they need to do this every year with or without fans. Cuz that was just unbelievably amazing and then the game itself. I mean I expected a lot of goals, but I didn't think it would be so one-sided. I know that the Bruins have not lost to the Flyers this year, but I was like one of these days they're going to lose like they're not going to win all eight games. They very well may at this point, they're five and O against them, but it was just a lot of goals David pastrnak as clearly as healthy as he's ever been the team's clicking and they're doing it without well, they did it without Kevin Miller and Matt grzelcyk wage not having grzelcyk was huge cuz they missed his pocket movement. They saw that in 2019 in the Stanley Cup Final and he was out with a concussion for those couple of games..

We just kind of accept that he's nasty but it's like well, what does it all mean? Why you know, what where does he rank among other top Bruins stars of the past 20 to 30 years and how does he rank in the city, you know is is he number one as he number two behind Jack? Tatum where Xander Bogaerts and that so we kind of get in to discussion on that in the value that a guy like Poshmark brings and just how rare a guy like this comes along and rejuvenates a team and rejuvenates a franchise. So we get into that quite a bit. We also discussed the Bruins loving comebacks. That's the new thing they love come back so we get into what that means for them. Potentially be nice big Stanley Cup favorite. I know it's early but I think we're 20% to the season. They're doing well. They're doing well. If you remember last Bruins beat episode, I had Connor Ryan on and Connor and I kind of dragged on the five-on-five scoring. When is this team going to turn round? What's the deal? I think we even questioned if they were going to be a playoff team and this episode is pretty much a complete 180 from that this episode is everything's going right including David having David pastrnak back and he is the subject of a lot of this episode and the ramifications of having him back and who gets pumped out of the lineup and sort of where the Bruins go from here. And I think you know, it's very interesting. It's it's definitely good to listen to cuz it's a lot of its positive. And so unless you're the person getting bumped out of the lineup which we get into dead. "And and join up with him and send him an email. If you need something for your fan cave because he's got some unbelievable stuff and we're going to continue to give birth jerseys away every month of this year. Hopefully, so keep those patreon contributions coming in and we'll keep on buying more jerseys and other Bruins related stuff to win. So excellent off next item on the agenda David pastrnak joined the skate on January 12th and huge in Bruce Cassidy anticipate that he'll be in full practice mode after the road trip. This is a little bit earlier. Yep. Thought which is good, you know, he's he is coming ahead of schedule. Some Bruins could absolutely hundred percent needed as they've lost their top three right Wings. They don't offer a Sonata car show or Smith. So I saw we were just looking at map Porters tweet about the practice lines and Par Lindholm was out there sharing time with Jake debrusk on the first line. I thought to myself there's a guy we haven't even mentioned. You know, why cuz I haven't seen him for two games Jake debrusk. He's a ghost out there again, and this is becoming a trend with him and he said all the right things when he's going to try to be a more consistent player and this-that-and-the-other-thing but that's a guy who should be getting in front of the net but I digress David pastrnak coming back much-needed. So heavier thoughts on pasta and it will it change Enough of the five-on-five problems. They have it's good to see pasta pasta and glad that he's going to be fully integrated. But no because he's been there the whole time we've always had five-on-five problems. I think it might help our power play, you know what I mean and getting those opportunities but in the end, I don't that's just going to shift it back to we had the Top Line scoring and maybe krejci and you know, whatever making some things happen too. So what I'm concerned about is just you know, don't rush it like Mark always says it's better to be 100% off like you have to come back like knowing this shortened season. We need you if it takes you till February 15th to get back like we need you to slow and steady it cuz we're going to need you to push and in the playoffs and all of that so long. I mean, I'm happy to see him back. He has a little ahead of schedule as I said, but who knows what that really means but it's not going to solve the five-on-five because we're not a good five-on-five team. Anyways, you know when pasta is in the line of church So as a matter of fact when he's not on he's very often sometimes impedes that process so not on him. But I mean he he was better about it last year, but he was also hurt for a while last year too and it took him a little bit to get back. So that's just my thoughts happy to have him back. We absolutely need him in our lineup. He's one of our offensive one of the only true superstars on this team like league-wide recognize supervisor are so that's just my thoughts Mark anything on pasta. Hopefully he gets back soon. We need a scoring touch 5.5 is disaster as we keep saying today on this show off. Yeah. We just we need it by committee to just not one guy coming into the line..

"Could be like if we want to go there this could be the second most pivotal offseason. Don Sweeney's tenure is Jim Morrison would be I mean, yeah, we obviously know what the the first one was some hits some misses I'll defend on Thursday and say people forget the meal music trade was was very solid but should it be his want this could be kind of the offseason wear off he shakes it up and there's been there's been little shit shaking in the Don Sweeney tenure really other than that 2015 offseason where he kind of came in and moved Hamilton moved Lucic got the Draft Picks 6 in the first two rounds. We all know the story there but dead. This could be like the next kind of version of that obviously not as big but like if you look at where the Bruins are, I mean what happens with Krug? What happens with Chara those to move up itself are pretty franchised altering. And then from there there's obviously been the the Rask rumors. I I wouldn't be surprised if something happened with Rask because we we should never be surprised by anything that happens with Rask anymore. And this point that's the case. This was like a weird enough year and obviously with it happened in the the postseason like There's so much uncertainty surrounding that player that that nothing that happens with him with surprise me. So yeah between Krug we think departing who knows what happens with Chara. I think the flu tone made a really great point that was sort of an obvious point that we've all been kind of sleeping on like it is possible that Chara reaches free agency and who knows if the Bruins have or anything with him maybe a team jumps in and they're like, hey, man, you're the missing piece like this is your what what we need and maybe yeah, maybe he just maybe he departs so possibilities are plentiful and I haven't even gotten to the Do they make like a real hockey trade? Do they trade Jake debrusk? They trade Brandon Carlo. My pie-in-the-sky thing that will never happen is like they find a way to make Carlos the centerpiece of a Patrick line a deal which financially and for other reasons just does not seem like something they would do but oh my God, I have been banging the table to get more scores on this team and if they found a way even if it's losing Carlo in an offseason where you also lose Krug, like imagine if I thought they had Patrick lyonnet David pastrnak and like imagine having three of the best goal scorers in the planet on your team

David Pastrnak Missing Game 2 For Boston Bruins, Deemed ‘Unfit To Participate’

"Bruins on their Twitter page just put out a tweet, saying David Pasternack will not play in tonight's game. You know what they put us to why he will not play. He went and had dinner with his family. They put unfit to participate. What does that mean? That's what they tweeted David Pasternak and then in quotes, unfit to participate that will not play in tonight's game. Is that the nice way to say he's too fat tonight? I mean, by the way for you non Bruin fans, he is the Bruins top score. Oh, Well, that would be fun to watch.

David Pastrnak, Ondrej Kase deemed ‘unfit to participate’ in Bruins’ practice

"The 1st 2 days of training camp because of league protocols and finally getting back on the ice yesterday, both David Pasternak and Andres Kotcher were absent from Bruins practice this morning. According to coach Bruce Cassidy, the tour unfit to participate in practice right now, But the coach couldn't discuss the situation any further due to NHL protocols. So obviously missing two guys that play up in your lineup and a guy like David that you're, you know, leading score. You want him in there? You want to get back into condition you are returning to the ice and being with his team mates, so He's not. So it does allow you to do some other things, but obviously would prefer have both those guys back there.
