"Were still in the market when you had Brady and you still had some of the holdovers for you know, you saw it would tease you still had Paul Peirce and Kevin Garnett like they were all kind of in the mix. I think the fact that now I'm kind of this next wave and the two best players, you know, you got the NBA superstar number one makes total sense and he's very deserving of it. But the fact that you got an NHL player is probably your number two guy who is you know, not even I think just limited to boss and in terms of his appeal. I mean the NHL they were smart. We keep on knocking him and he's doing all these Duncan ads but he's a guy that's easy to market right? He scores goals. These are flashing. It's got a good personality. You know, it's those are the kind of guys that the NHL should be targeting like you gotta you gotta give Connor McDavid it is due because of how good he is, but it's not like he's the most part, you know engaging person the most, you know, the most conversation people have her head of a comic David was like death star. Yeah said he built like I was that was the number one drop at him like a scenario. You know, what what is he wearing what he says after a game, you know, just you know kind of his overall personality coupled with his skills. So yeah, I mean, I think it's definitely those two guys for the top down and Pasternak. I would still give Tatum by the slight Edge just based on the sport and overall appeal. But yeah, if you told someone, you know, even a few years back that like a broom it's going to be I think defectively probably number two in the city. I think people would take it. It's just I think it has to be maybe one to kind of the changing the god through all four Sports in Boston, but also I think it's, you know due to pop song. On personality and his skill and just as overall appeal. Yeah, and I think the thing with pastrnak is and and this I feel like this gets over looked alot how big of a generational peace he is dead. You really look at it and and and from all angles, you know, yes, you have the goalscoring but just like even you remember back with Sagan, you know, Sagan was good and saying a lot of points off at 11:12 season, obviously it has issues. But that was the thing yet is issues. He had you know tough a tough time kind of getting up into Boston's top six you can put that on quote if you'd like, but you know saying it's not as consistent as people might have wanted him to be in certain areas pastrnak has everything he does and that's something like Pluto had that feature on how he was drafted and and Thursdays is me that they got some of the guys who went before pastrnak went such as 120 D'Angelo 20 DJ Tony G. I mean, you know incredible that that guy who had racial slur problems in the OHL Got picked ahead of anybody. But whatever point is you look at the goalscoring you look at the the flashiness you look at the personality all we know dancing and interacting with fans when they're there and and you know engaging and fun to follow and likeable like that at that. You see what McDavid that is not something you get, you know, every couple of years or even ten years like that is a once in a 25-year star you picked up and like maybe the.

"And welcome back to the Bruins speed on Ceylon s media. My name is Devon marinoff screen up against having a great great week surviving the snow which is coming down like crazy of late here at least in the Northeast. I know a lot of listeners from other parts of the country, you know lots Parts would love to hear where people are from who listen to this if you want to send me a message or tweet at me or you know, shoot me a message on Facebook page if you're not from the Northeast where you where you listed from cuz it's cool to see where people are we, you know make a map out of everybody but at any rate on this episode I had on Conor Ryan again, and I wanted to go deep on David pastrnak because I feel a lot of times. We just kind of accept that he's nasty but it's like well, what does it all mean? Why you know, what where does he rank among other top Bruins stars of the past 20 to 30 years and how does he rank in the city, you know is is he number one as he number two behind Jack? Tatum where Xander Bogaerts and that so we kind of get in to discussion on that in the value that a guy like Poshmark brings and just how rare a guy like this comes along and rejuvenates a team and rejuvenates a franchise. So we get into that quite a bit. We also discussed the Bruins loving comebacks. That's the new thing they love come back so we get into what that means for them. Potentially be nice big Stanley Cup favorite. I know it's early but I think we're 20% to the season. So we get into that obviously no real games to talk about concerning this to Savers games got canceled. So this is good or they got postponed at least, you know that it's good cuz we can catch up on other stuff and and talk about some other topics and then we get into what happens when girls that comes back in the lineup who who is the odd man out so to speak cuz I don't think there's a clear One Soul into that in this episode before we get into the episode first, make sure to go subscribe to Bruins ringside. There's been a lot of Support over there. It's been really fun. As I said, we're going to really start getting things going over there. I think it's in it's over 650 subscribers at the time of recording this so it's grown fast. It is growing very very quickly. "A quicker skater with the brush with him and see how that works cuz they tried that last year putting the brush with coil in it. Looks like it had a few good a few good games together. So that could be a situation where I mean, you could have or Richie krejci deneka or or kasho depending on when he returns which is no timeline yet and then debrusk coil and Smith so that could be the case and then you bump Frederick back down to the fourth line now granted Frederick work great on the 3rd line. So this is a good problem to have here the Bruins. I mean, this is we've talked about this even for the season start of that. You know, you look up front for this team. It's the best it's been in years where you have a dilemma not in terms of who you are slotting out per se but you have a guy like Frederick who has a good kind of wherever you put him in the lineup so long will make for a couple of interesting decisions for Cassidy, but I think that the biggest hurdle in terms of who goes out of the lineup. It seems pretty cut-and-dry that it's probably Bjork. Yeah, and the thing is it's tough cuz we've been waiting for Bjork to come off. And and be you know the player that we all thought he could be in the Bruins. It could be and it hasn't been that those far. He's you know, it's hard to notice him cast whenever caste shortens his bench. Usually Bjork isn't getting time off games. So that seems like a guy who I thought was a trade piece last year. Definitely a guy you'd leave open for the expansion. Honestly would do would probably benefit from the time in Seattle. Like I think he's a guy he is a very good example of someone who could absolutely use a change of scenery, especially in a place like with the Seattle crack and I love my sweatshirt on today for the Kraken but you know, I think underscore fit fit well over there. It's funny you mention the trend Fredrick thing. I think it's really interesting because it's been a while where the Bruins have had a forward come up wage who's projected to be a third or fourth-liner who's a young Prospect and really succeeded the way that Frederick has it's been a while like think of all the guys that they've rotated through Thurs. There who just haven't panned out or haven't worked or haven't stuck and Fredrick was one of those guys for a while. That was Frederick you'd like nineteen or Twenty games in the NHL a few years ago found was, you know aside from killing Brandon tanev was fairly irrelevant to the to the game. Yeah, not the case anymore. Yeah. No, I mean you looked at what you were expecting from Africa. Now this point I think everyone knows what Frederick brings in terms of his size and physicality The Faculty can drop the gloves and probably win most sites, but I think the most encouraging thing it's just everything else is doing I think March and said after the game on Saturday, it's just that you know, he may not do kind of the big things in a game just every thing asked of him correctly. So, I mean the fact that I think he's leading the Bruins in terms of drawing penalties the was tormenting Freeman and that game on Saturday sent him into the box twice once a month..

"I think on Sunday afternoon, like checking out the ice and like is we're going to have a Bruins be tomorrow or is that going to be like the host or is it or am I going to be happy to take over something? I was worried to fall through but it's good to see you here in one piece. Glad you started your day off with a good skate. So, you know happy we talking Bruins again with you. Oh, yeah. I I've knock on wood. I've never fallen through its birth for a long time. Typically. I feel like I have a good sense about the ice like yesterday. I stepped out and this is like tree that goes into the into the water. I usually walk out on and then step onto the ice and write off. It it wasn't Frozen. And so yesterday I figured well, it probably isn't good enough to skate on but I felt like I could walk on it check it out and walked across and the edges of course were like kind of watery. So but Monday, it's great in the mornings. It's so cold. I was out there. It was like 18 degrees was perfect very refreshing but speaking of big things speaking of people returning to the iceberg on Monday David pastrnak made or didn't return to the ice, but returned to the ice and a white jersey, which for those who don't know means you're good to go. You're not you're not you're not non-contact, which is those maroon and red jerseys but Poshmark out in a white jersey looks to be coming back before maybe we thought he was going to come back which is huge cuz I know we were both saying during the off-season. It could be a month. It doesn't seem like that's going to be the case. Yeah. No, I mean the original projections. I think had him for mid February and I mean just the fact that one he's even birth. No full participants during practices now is like a huge step forward for him and he looks good. I mean you have to expect especially once again to a game setting it's going to shake a lot of rust off in term, you know, I'm in terms of getting back up to speed hasn't played in months. Now he mentioned today, you know, it's first time he was getting hit in months and yes, it was just for that. So, you know, if he's cleared to play later this wage Cassidy said that probably won't play Tuesday today or he won't play Thursday against the Penguins what he could return on Saturday, which it's a good welcome back right is playing chora Tom Wilson and those guys that's oh yeah exactly, but it looks good. I mean the hands look good. He had a he dangled one-pass..

"Welcome into the Bruins beat on ceiling Us Media. My name is Evan marinoff. Ski, hope you guys are having a great great day. Great great week obviously so nice so nice to have the Bruins back. They're doing well. They're doing well. If you remember last Bruins beat episode, I had Connor Ryan on and Connor and I kind of dragged on the five-on-five scoring. When is this team going to turn round? What's the deal? I think we even questioned if they were going to be a playoff team and this episode is pretty much a complete 180 from that this episode is everything's going right including David having David pastrnak back and he is the subject of a lot of this episode and the ramifications of having him back and who gets pumped out of the lineup and sort of where the Bruins go from here. And I think you know, it's very interesting. It's it's definitely good to listen to cuz it's a lot of its positive. And so unless you're the person getting bumped out of the lineup which we get into dead. In-depth in this episode but yes, there is a lot going on a Bruins land and Connor and I covered it all in this episode as we always do I also would like to say thank you to everyone who subscribed and has been watching and interacting with the Bruins ringside YouTube channel. It's been great over there. I see a lot of people have been commenting. We we've just recently got over 500 subscribers. So yes that was quick. So thank you to everyone who subscribed go subscribe. If you haven't if you're just watching the videos subscribe, it's free why not but it's been fun over there. And as time goes along them more live podcasts and live Q&A days and interviews and stuff. The reason it hasn't happened yet is just because the season just started and we're all trying to get into kind of the groove of what days are morning skate what days can we record obviously during the offseason it's pretty open so Connor I can record whenever but when the season starts it's different because we're all on different schedules and everything. Things are always changing. So those will happen at some point. I promise cuz I want to do a live podcast and I want to do live Q&A is and stuff. I want to get you guys involved in the show more. So those things happen. That's what I promise you. I promise those will happen. They'll happen very soon. So I'm very excited about that and I'm very excited how fast the channels growing. It's fun over there. I also the comments sections are fun too cuz wage not like hate comments or you know, stupid comments people are commenting like real things and good things..

"Bergeron, there we go. Yeah David pastrnak who does not have a gnome close until the previous year. However, do parts are not going anywhere either March and not going anywhere either Charlie Coyle also has a no-movement clause, so he's not going anywhere. But again, they're not after signing into that contract what his role should be going forward, especially with you. Don't really know what's going on with David. Krejci coils not going anywhere either after that. You're probably looking at the Press Club. I think we're just going to assume his back probably on average deal. I would assume but it's not quite like a gardener. Yeah, I mean hopefully not but again, he's a guy who had the very least he's going to age twenty goals and as much as he's knocked for consistency problems. He's still a guy think you can pencil in for that base line of production. And again, he's a few bounces away from being at twenty five five potentially dirty goal scorer. So I remember any given up a guy like him, especially for free, especially considering that I don't think his new contracts really going to break the bank anyway, so then you kind of are stuck in this spot right above where your you pretty much have two more spots to go with like three possible guys. I think three guys are Craig Smith who I think we're both high on he's a guy who shouldn't do what kind of wherever they put him next year, you know ideal situation would be he'd be with coil probably on that third line, but I my expectation is he's going to get a lot of top six law. Especially to stop here right with pastrnak and marching both out. But so you got him who is probably going to produce try going to help out this team a lot. He's going to he's Thirty-One this year. So maybe we'll see how that kind of factors into whether you cut bait after a year or something with it. But ideally the Bruins signing up to a three-year deal at good value. You don't want to give a guy like came up. So you got him you've got Andre Kasha who's a restricted free agent after next year is going to be turning 25. I think pretty soon. If not by the end of the lease is up coming year long. We all kind of know the book on Kasha. The metrics fantastic needs to actually sat finishing more but like a lot of players on the Bruins. Yeah, exactly. It's going to be the other guy we talked about but at least you look at Kasia right and how he play with krejci, even if the production wasn't there..

Could this offseason be pivotal for Don Sweeney?

"Could be like if we want to go there this could be the second most pivotal offseason. Don Sweeney's tenure is Jim Morrison would be I mean, yeah, we obviously know what the the first one was some hits some misses I'll defend on Thursday and say people forget the meal music trade was was very solid but should it be his want this could be kind of the offseason wear off he shakes it up and there's been there's been little shit shaking in the Don Sweeney tenure really other than that 2015 offseason where he kind of came in and moved Hamilton moved Lucic got the Draft Picks 6 in the first two rounds. We all know the story there but dead. This could be like the next kind of version of that obviously not as big but like if you look at where the Bruins are, I mean what happens with Krug? What happens with Chara those to move up itself are pretty franchised altering. And then from there there's obviously been the the Rask rumors. I I wouldn't be surprised if something happened with Rask because we we should never be surprised by anything that happens with Rask anymore. And this point that's the case. This was like a weird enough year and obviously with it happened in the the postseason like There's so much uncertainty surrounding that player that that nothing that happens with him with surprise me. So yeah between Krug we think departing who knows what happens with Chara. I think the flu tone made a really great point that was sort of an obvious point that we've all been kind of sleeping on like it is possible that Chara reaches free agency and who knows if the Bruins have or anything with him maybe a team jumps in and they're like, hey, man, you're the missing piece like this is your what what we need and maybe yeah, maybe he just maybe he departs so possibilities are plentiful and I haven't even gotten to the Do they make like a real hockey trade? Do they trade Jake debrusk? They trade Brandon Carlo. My pie-in-the-sky thing that will never happen is like they find a way to make Carlos the centerpiece of a Patrick line a deal which financially and for other reasons just does not seem like something they would do but oh my God, I have been banging the table to get more scores on this team and if they found a way even if it's losing Carlo in an offseason where you also lose Krug, like imagine if I thought they had Patrick lyonnet David pastrnak and like imagine having three of the best goal scorers in the planet on your team

"Bruins on their Twitter page just put out a tweet, saying David Pasternack will not play in tonight's game. You know what they put us to why he will not play. He went and had dinner with his family. They put unfit to participate. What does that mean? That's what they tweeted David Pasternak and then in quotes, unfit to participate that will not play in tonight's game. Is that the nice way to say he's too fat tonight? I mean, by the way for you non Bruin fans, he is the Bruins top score. Oh, Well, that would be fun to watch.

"Going to be trying to take is out at the buffet. You know what's the deal with this? So I just wonder what happens with that. And how that all sort of plays out guys hate Tom Wilson heat him zooming. Marshawn marshes cleaned up his act, but They're still that hate from around the league I think with him. Interesting to see how that all goes down in other news. Awards awards might get handed out to Bruins. We have to go rask with the president. We have bruce cast Jag Adams. I'll be honest. I don't think either one of them and I. Don't think it's. I, think to has a good shot of winning the VEZINA but A. Ultimately if I had pick out, choose hello book and and I think that he would be the more appropriate choice, but I do think that there's a significant chance that that good does sort of steel that one. We'll because a lot of people voting for it. Might not know of advance stats. Just look at save percentage and goals against average. Oh Chewbacca was basically the best and both to grasp like. It's funny. When the season was announced, officially ended, I tweeted stupidly Oh rascal win the VEZINA which was dumb, because I kind of forgot about the rest of the League and then I actually went and looked at you know evolving hockey I went and looked at natural sad trick, and the numbers for Hell Bucker Insane, especially, considering the circumstances. I'm a huge circumstance guy when it comes to these awards Taylor Hall in the NBA PF years ago, it was one hundred percent right guy is carried his team and Halibut candidate, the same this I mean hell I think you wrote. This have has a chance at MVP like. In theory, I mean Hell. Was that good? That jets team should have been terrible in a defense of. They lost everybody at last offseason. And by every stretch of the imagination should have been certainly not one of the original playoff teams if the season ended normally and they were I. think they were wildcard team. They were right on the bubble. I. Believe in so I think they've finished his like the the eighth. They were either nine seed so it was right there right there and I mean they were trying in the wrong direction, but I mean the fact that they're even in the conversation with the League's worst defense and how many? Many draw tunes. They're giving up like they just hung that guy out to dry all season long, and he put up unbelievable numbers so I I mean I i. said that he should be the MVP conversation especially like if you're going to look at a guy like our Timmy Pinera and we're like you're taking him out of the conversation. If if if the Rangers don't get in the playoffs, and now you're putting him back in the conversation, because the the field is expanded..

David Pastrnak, Ondrej Kase deemed ‘unfit to participate’ in Bruins’ practice

"The 1st 2 days of training camp because of league protocols and finally getting back on the ice yesterday, both David Pasternak and Andres Kotcher were absent from Bruins practice this morning. According to coach Bruce Cassidy, the tour unfit to participate in practice right now, But the coach couldn't discuss the situation any further due to NHL protocols. So obviously missing two guys that play up in your lineup and a guy like David that you're, you know, leading score. You want him in there? You want to get back into condition you are returning to the ice and being with his team mates, so He's not. So it does allow you to do some other things, but obviously would prefer have both those guys back there.

"And it's funny that we had the conversation last episode with talking about these skilled guys come at a junior who can just do whatever the fuck they want because they're so talented. But now everybody. Sharing the ice at the NHL level is as well. And you have to be able to add to your bag and learn the professional game as far as structure and way, you should be taking those risks offensively. Or when you should just be managing the puck later in games where you're like, you know, what it's not worth it to me. Turn this puck over here. Trying to move off because I'm gonna put my team at risk for getting scored against and then and ultimately a bunch of other things that you need to learn to become a professional hockey player. People people will look at my career and be like man that guy was dog shit. As far as the skills were concerned. And I'm gonna look and say, yeah, I know, but I learned all the little intangibles about what I had to in order to be successful and not be ally ability on the ice, and and certain guys who don't even have that type of skill level and up making a career for themselves because they filter into positions where they're able to to contribute to the team. Now, it sees if though declares not type of guy. That can stick as a top six because time has told me that and he's on his fourteen to me if he is going to be maybe a second minor looks as though maybe he's a third line Fillon guy where if there's injuries later in the year he can jump up to those top lines. He needs to learn how to do all those other things. And if he's not gonna do it, then he's going to end up fucking in a cage like read system or the Super League. Wherever the fuck. He was planned so and I would say this to declare face to I love the kid. He's a great guy and a locker room. So he has a lot of things going for him. I I just hope he figures out, and I'm sure he will because he's a smart kid. So I hope I didn't come off to negative and if he does hear this. I hope he's not mad at me. But just I you gotta you gotta daft. I'm not going to sit here and say, I know the guys running out of lives. I mean, the NHL just what happens when you keep getting traded. But when you tell me, even though we had a great. Like me and towards got a riff, you know, he should on me. And it's funny. The boys love it. That's not ideal. He he had a good start the season and in meetings. He would like poke fun. He pokes fun at all of everyone. I had a coach Mike stutters in the H L junior as well do in meetings. He would just unleash on guys. And it was a laugh factory. The guy should have been at fucking, savannah. Stan. And nothing's wrong. "Time, the Portland pirates in on the midst of this Dr I break out in hives, and I get the mumps do it was the fucking worst four five days stretch, remind fire light, I no word of a lie. I'm gonna look at my phone and send Grenell picture picture. If I still have as he can post or set at the spit chiklis means I looked like quagmire my jaw was like. Yes. And so so things in the locker room will spread and obviously more so than maybe even a working environment 'cause you're in constant contact with these guys you're giving the hat Nockles all the time and you're getting your shit wash. So and you're also in the weight room sharing weights. So that's my little rant on on your fake fungus accusations. Fair enough. I think when you go over the top like that then people really like, oh, wow. Toward said shit and everyone gets flabbergasted by that. Meanwhile, he's fucking home plan. Experts waiting to get fucking treated. I love it. Let's break this break. The news at towards his lying. See how that turns out? Yeah. And again, I'm not I know you call somebody lights. Often going on give us the juice more. Give us the juicy quote towards that about Anthony do clear. Correct. Yeah. Anti declared the guys, you know, bounced around each I believe on his fourth team torch was asked whether Anthony declare is a slow learner. It was simply stubborn and twits. He said, quote, I don't think he knows how to play it seems to me. He's a player who feels he can get the puck because he's tremendously skilled he can skate. He has all those things you guys know. I just think he he thinks he can do whatever the hell he wants to do on the ice. You can't do it in the National Hockey League. We've spent a lot of time trying to teach him trying to teach him situational play away from the park. All the stuff we do with players. Sometimes it looks like he's understanding. So to answer your question. I don't know. I don't know if he can't comprehend it or if he's just stubbing, but he is running out of time. I think it's worth it with them because there is tremendous upside. But here we are his fourth team in other coach pecinin moan about him scratching benching. Him somewhere along the line? I think he has to understand I have to be more attentive. And I have to be more consistent sewing around about way. I don't know what he is. I thought I was learning him. That's the actual quote. I don't know what he is. So Twitter all emphasize, it's not just one aspect of his game lens. Trouble and wash quote. It depends on what day it is. You can give me a list, and I can check them off the thing that aggravates me the most is we want to stay with it. Because there is something at the end of the tunnel here of me right now, he's off the rails. I'm not so sure if we're going to spend a lot more time trying to get him back on the rails. I think he can do so much to help us to I have seen it. I've coached the number of plays, and you try to push them and get them, right? He's been a challenge because you never know which one you checking off that day as far as that list. So those are some pretty pointed words from a coach men or for things, I that read was unbelievable. That would took me six months. Second of all. Anthony, you Clair's. Awesome guy. Really? Well liked by teammates. He was everywhere. He was like he was like everywhere he went and was traded to. But that seems to be the problem. It keeps moving around a lot. And I would agree in a sense where he'll have flashes of brilliance where you're like. Okay. Here we go. He's figuring it out. But then you're like, oh my God. Where this guy goal. I didn't even know. He was in the line of the last five games. He came into Columbus shared. He had a great start and got right and towards his good books and even talking the declared. He's like, yeah. Like like towards shirt, me and meetings and the boy love it. We have a the boys. Love it. We have a little bit of a rift. But but but things were good at the time. "Team that don't feel like they're part of the team. Like, how are they gonna contribute on the ice? And how are they going to be like those guys that are better? You know, saying I'm gonna go to war for you like those. I like you get it like probably after that night that we went there to the casino your probably like Madam part of the team though. And all of a sudden, you're ready to ready to go to war for the team. And as that you're doing the same thing that you get some young guy. And I again, I've always said this like they're gonna get there somehow one way or another they're going to get to the NHL. They're good enough. You may as well make them feel like part of the team right away. And and then when they're part of the team, they're going to be like, the probably gonna nowadays that, you know, the kid comes into the league, he's you know, got a couple years under under his belt. He scores like fifty points is making like five million dollars a year now. So you he's going to be on the team like law, make me friend. Yeah. Exactly. So would you rather have that guy like, you know, playing on the second line and hate you? Or would you rather? Have that guy? Second line going on that guy went to bat for me simmer. That's like one thing that when I looked back being drafted by Pittsburgh is the way they treated their American Hockey League. I would call it. It's own organization because they Jeff back at the gate parrot show to him and that whole staff I was a piece of shit when I went in there. I was a little punk. But but none the less like Elaine Nazar dean, Chris Keller than his Bobby like those guys taught me what it was like to be like a vet handle your fucking business. The like, Elaine Nazar wasn't rushing to be my buddy. There was an aide shepper Asian, but and you kind of looked at him like almost like a father figure with that major respect for him. But he would still time. Visit you'll what'd you get into last night voice. Find trouble guys delay like and then boom right back to his business where you felt like that time special. There was order and it was a team environment. And I took it. That's how I learned. How to be a good teammate. I finally figured it out the Pittsburgh organization. And I think it's almost like we talk about all the time. It gets a little cliche. But the culture thing is huge in some teams habits on teams don't that's why they've been shit something's been shipped for a long time. Now, saying, you're right. You're we gotta get onto the Russian stories because people are fucking drooling at this point for them. Well, before my sim before you go. So when I was in the gauge I'll people need to know, it was the cage L, it was a they tried to make it much much more officially they tried to rival the NHL. It was never going to happen. But you were there when it was the Super League. And that makes it seem at least from what I've heard the complete wild wild west. When I thought I was already in eighteen fifty when I was over there. I don't even know where to start when it comes to this. Because I I when I. I remember it was a lockout right after the year. I played in in wilksbury. And I was gonna actually I was going to get into coaching. And I had an interview with Mike Milbury in New York with the islanders in the summer. And I flew out to LA went to went skating with all my friends, like pamper, son, and Jerry bruckheimer, Sheldon Surrey and all those like us one of my best friend, Sheldon. And we we went out there to skate and show like, you know, we get into this like that that skate they have in LA with all the actors and all the guys that, you know, the hockey people from from LA, and and and. "I got a good shot went down like audio. But my whole mind was on. Yeah. Exactly my whole mind knowing we're playing he was playing for the hawks at the time. I was like almost like over tonight. I can't wait up over. And and then the next thing I know suze come into the penalty box like ProVia had a smile on his face. Like that was like I'm gonna kill you kind of like smile, and he was like he's doing the old Irish like, you know, do kind of thing and I'm looking on on holy shit. This is the real deal. And then he threw the first punchy grab me. And he threw the first punch, and I literally felt my whole body like swing backwards, and I'm like Oli shit. Don't let them with one of those punches and just started going toe to toe with thinking like pleased on plead on any never. Luckily, luckily, never ended up being one of my best friends like as I got traded oxyde couple months later, and he was my roommate and never you never gonna meet a better guy about propert. But he was he was one of the best year ever going to be re you spend some time with the devils. Is Asian you played for the great Jacques Lemaire has head coach and you also had spot Stevens via Kaplan. I what was it like playing Jack LeMay, I think he's a guy comes under the radar a little bit of coaches and as far as Stevens. He more of a quiet guy who led by doing owes. He is intense and practices as we've used seeing them in games. Yeah. You got it right there. Like, he like Jok was one of those guys that you just walked in the room, and he kind of Merck on his face, and I was a young guy. So I just be sweet. I just basically did whatever they asked me to do kind of thing. I'm like, okay. I just wanna stay league. I think my first year with them. I play twenty three games was healthy scratch where all the rest, and I was just like thank you for letting me play in your league. Great hollick. Thank you. As the best thing. We wanna road trips. I remember guy. Kevin dean was my a good friend of mine. He coaches in Boston. And we we went on a road trip. One time to like Calgary Vancouver. I mean to did that little circuit out there. We didn't play one game. And we we started like we started like joking about the fact that we're like we're on a fantasy trip with the New Jersey Devils 'cause we got them practice with the devils. We got to like we got to stay in the same old tell the devils. We got the pregame meal it devils. It was unreal. But we'd like honoring easily. Yeah. Yeah. We're just like we're just hanging out with the devils after the game. Like, we're like like I remember him. And I were talking about it one time after we're like, you know, how much people paid like be on this team to be on this fantasy trip with devils that we're like we're basically on, but we're winning all the time. And you know, we just want to cut the before. And we're just like, hey, listen, like, I don't know a guy we've all played a little bit in the minors. And you know, that's that's really fun. I played four enough years in the minors for actually gonna chance. But always looked like you're in the NHL, then just stay there. There's find a way to stay there biz. You know, exactly what I'm talking about. Like, you're like this plan. We want to be using the locker room filling water bottles up. Yeah. I was going to get killed either go on six dates days. So I must have a kill. The boys story like I was about. Yeah. Exactly anything he could do to stay in the league. Like, you know that. And that's the way I looked at it too. I was just like we were just talking about it actually the other day. I was talking about it with one of the scouts them. Like like, I would like I would do anything to just be on team. Like, whatever you guys want..

"Let's just because that's what's fun. It was like the Sam kind of thing in baseball. And some guys turned into players. I got there was a hell of a lot more. You know, there's a hub law guys that were way better hockey players at me. And I think what when ends up happening is you just you got it. It out you just keep playing and the next thing, you know, like, you said, you just you're in the NHL or like they get here read when you did break in the NHL. It was still a pretty tough place. There was still a fair amount. The fight going on back then a fair amount. Well, compared to the I guess you fought some bad animals. I'd pro Cosa the grim reaper, Stu Grimson. I mean was was Bob pro the baddest Mamma Jim you of scrap it. And if it wasn't him who was it. He was definitely he was definitely the guy. Like I remember coming into the league in like, I got a few games in Minnesota. I got a game in with Philadelphia early. And I'm talking Philly. My first camp in Philly. I fought like nine times the first day like that was like, and but I had to go through a list of guys like Craig booby, Terry Cartner, Jeff chicken retarget Murray, baron. I mean, I literally like went through the whole group of guys. And I remember like it was Paul homegrown was the palm the coach at the time. And I came out on the ice. And there was this guy from the western league named Tony horrid shock, right? So I'm stretching out and there's maybe like maybe like seventy guys in the ice stretching all during the old like, you know, hamstring stretch where? Yeah. And this guy comes by the he looks at me. And he's there bucket you're up today. Like, what does that mean? What was he talking about? So I get up and they kind of fall round the ranking. I'm like, well, I mean, you wanna go and he's like trying to turn on looks. I go let's do it right now. And there was literally seven guys on the ice. And and I'm like just start going toe to toe with this guy, and the coaches comes screaming out there like breaking it up and they're like spinning apart. And I'm like any any hit me pretty good. I remember my nose is bleeding all bit of other that that guy like that. So now the practice starts, and we're sitting there, and we do the first drill. And we're getting drink water. I'm like the whole teams on the ice now. And I and I will let's do this again. Good. Are you crazy like so he goes go there and go to center I so now very first day of practice in Philadelphia on my squared off this guy at center ice. All because of like, I thought that he was like I thought he was calling me on and like, you know, basically up. So now, we we punch each other out at center ice. And I'm like, okay, I'm going to the whole team today. And that's basically what I did. And I'm like that if you're gonna get noticed. That's that's the way they noticed. I guess. You know that you you. You're right on the tail end of it. There's I was. was just going to go into it. Even when I was breaking in like, yeah. It was a little intense. There was a little bit of sizing going on between the vets and the rookies coming nowadays you go to training camp. Everyone's fucking buddy buddy out there. I mean, it's a lot way intense, but back then like you said you walk at a training cat like Rick, talk and shit. Like, you up is they're not allowed to talk going on between you and these other guys will back in the day. Like, I know like Billy. They would let the team up. They wouldn't even let the rookie on the ice with the with the vet because they knew that was happening. Right. So I remember my second year. I get there and they bring in Dave Brown back to the flyers. Right. I'm like all God. Here we go. This guy's because the king right here. I gotta get after this guy..

"And we had a bench clearing brawl about sixteen seconds into the game. Underhill. How many how many fights at night we haven't fighting more than once a night was it like two three fights night back then. Back in the day. If you didn't get it. I mean, here's the thing. If you didn't if you didn't the best thing about hockey is like if you didn't you wanted to contribute as you do go out there, and like give a guy spearing balls and be like, okay, that's cool. So you always had a way to contribute. I've been here. I've heard a ton of fun flawn stories like what's like one that stands out because they used to have a junior team. And they used to have some like epic brawls that they're not. I remember one time I came out to the rink. And like there was you know, you come out late half hour later, we came into the parking lot. And there was still literally like a huge broad on fans in the parking lot. I walked out, and you could kind of walk out of the rink minus forty degrees. And and there's literally people with no shirts on beating the crap. But if each other like from the other town, we're we're actually I remember this pretty clearly we were playing we're playing the homo Broncos. It was a it was like literally a bench clearing brawl in the parking lot with with every fan that at Trump to game. But it was then that was just what it was like I mean, and then everyone would the bar down the street and have like twenty five beers with each other after the game. Go win for and who else who else played in the NHL from there. What are some other names that would people would recognize? Well, the the guy that was right before me was Kim Bumgarner again young guys, you know, him. He he was a Boston Bruin for a while. Bobby Clark was from their only going up. He was like he was I remember growing up we used to fall. And my my parents were friends with them. And it's kind of it's kind of weird because I like, I don't think where I grew up in you know, where any kid from a small town in northern Canada. Like, you just kinda grow up thinking like a love playing hockey so much, but you don't have like the NHL is not your. It's not like your goal. You just kinda think like, okay, it's possible because you know, people that are playing there in the summertime, you know, a lot of people would come back from you know, wherever they were playing. And you know, I remember when I was like ten years old, and they said Bobby Clark would come back and be like, oh, he's the shell. And they'd be like Philadelphia warehousing bell share like you don't even it's on another planet. You know what I mean? Like, you don't even really. You don't even really feel like it's it's it's it's possible. But it is possible. Does that make sense, you know, and lead sense? And I think now though, I think now it's I think it's changed just because of the internet, and you know, Instagram, and all this stuff, you can re but back when you were playing it's like you couldn't read up on teams. You didn't even know who won the night time. No. Like, it was like hockey night in Canada's that like, you know, Saturday night at, you know, six seven o'clock at night, and you got to watch Montreal Canadian's play the Tronto may beliefs. And that was like you're kind of extent of knowing what the NHL was. But it wasn't like a wasn't like you're sitting around dreaming about it like everybody played hockey like the neighborhood at eight in the morning on a Saturday. You know, there'd be twenty five kids just show up and everyone would just play till till like eight o'clock at night and everyone wanted to play and everyone had a great time plan. But you never really thought about you never really thought about like playing in each all, you just you just were like, okay..

"Yeah. I think that could be the case a lot of times. But there is offense of upside there. And sometimes we always say it, you know, just changing changing scenery can just do do a lot of good. And I just I root I root for both. Those guys is Donald possibly our first the first chiklis guests that's been traded. Is that a crazy idea for me to throw that out there? My forgetting someone has to be somebody else. I know it's I I figured the same. But I started racking my brain Ryan Boyle. He's not great Brian Boyle traded. He he was on the show and then go that's why that's why I'm not memory. What about NATO kiss is? They they stick or they don't that wanting to Nikki bones. I think traded to right there could be fifteen guys said. You know who else got traded Dylan Strom? Of the pocket. There could be fifteen guys we need granola to chime in one now. So everybody gets the play. Shit was like the Bruins windows. Now, they gotta go for it now, and it sucks Duluth prospect dot, but I just mentioned Metron Tronto. And there's a kid who the Bruins, you know, probably Show Low on and he's got twenty goals this shit thirty three point seven himself a nice little season. So like you said, which don't be surprised to see D'amoto having a nice season from self ony thirteen twenty and thirteen that's young material in the next Nita Lowey irate over that for that. And also to one of the note data was a restricted free agent this summer to just an additional regarding the contract as far as Minnesota, man. Like, you said, what's I feel bad? We never really have anything much positive to say. But when the general manager is crying himself to sleep at night. It's things probably going so well and that was the quote the exact quote from GM Paul fence of the athletics. Michael Russo quote, it hasn't been a lot of fun trying to go to sleep at night when I do go to sleep. I find myself crying like a baby, and quote, and why the month of February the wild played ten games this month, and they have one. Exactly one game for to win in New Jersey back on February. Nice. They've lost six others outright. They've lost five in a row nine of ten since the all-star break, and they've been shut out and back to back games for the first time at three is Reuss. Boudreau sounds like he's just about had hit a thirty six. Second press scrum last night in this still what I think a point two two other playoff spot. It's incredible. That these teams actually Ministro there in the eight spot right now. Minnesota in Anaheim had such awful stretches in this still right in the playoff on which take on on. Minnesota's crying GM biz your a six and three in their last ten after having a bit of a tough stressor. Bruce Fujio guaranteed a playoff spot before that Saint Louis game. They got smoked four nothing at home. Got booed off off the ice after the second period and basically booth out of the building after the game. Then they followed up with a four nothing loss at home against the ducks. Which of all teams, I mean to lose to the ducks for. Nothing with with all their problems. Devon, doug. Nick is struggling. I mean are sure you got stats on Nick. But just a tough situation and especially with Buju guaranteeing playoffs. They got four teams right behind him at fifty nine points in the Colorado Avalanche of Arizona coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks and forgetting that fourth team. I'm sure you guys will be able to think of Chicago. I already said them Jesus, Christ pulp abroad home. I supposed to know a random four team. I don't know Hoover or. Yeah. Because I because I was looking at my notes here Vancouver's a lot of the fourth team. So there's there's four teams chopping at their heels. And I have no I have no confidence that they're going to maintain that that last spot in the Western Conference. I was really interesting to see Bruce Boudreau guarantee. We're gonna make the playoffs, and we're gonna get in and nobody's gonna wanna face..

"In twenty thousand nine hundred fifth round coil. Compla- Senate you could play right wing. He's got one more year left at three point two million at ten goals, eighteen assists in sixty games. Played this year is a big he's gerbil. He's only missed sixteen games over the last five seasons responsible. Both ends. He's gonna be twenty seven months. So he's extensively in his prime right now and wherever Bruce Cassidy decides to employ him. He's gonna make the middle six. The Bruins that much better with a ripple effect wrote the lineup, and you got a magic on freight swing the Stott by far the Nado, tons of upside. Nice kid tough to see it didn't work out a little better farm here. Hannah reminds me a little Frank for Trento wits whale. Like, he's got a lot. Offense of upside. But he hasn't learned the two hundred foot game. But you know, he could still have a nice career show. It's an interesting trade not a blockbuster about which you take what's while? No, both guys. And you know, people already saying to me all a width gonna love coil is going to be petting. His be you stuff terrier. He's going to be talking about the good old days coils at byu for a Cup of coffee and took off the major junior. So that that doesn't mean anything to do with it. I know and respect that guy because he trains as as hard harder. If not as hard as anyone in the league, I mean, his summer programs are insane. He's a beast in the gym, very dedicated very professional ofensive the last couple years. It's just kind of been a little bit of a struggle. Whereas for a little while, you know, I think I wasn't the only one think it could be thirty goal year type player. Now. Maybe he finds that in Boston. But you understand why things are you know, Minnesota moved on. But a nice cap it for a guy who could get hot and really be a beast in the playoffs. I think it's three and a half million ish right around there. Q three three point dos. Three point two. So could could make make a splash on the Bruins because they are so not so much but more talented than Minnesota offensively. Minnesota's just we've talked before, you know, a little bland there's not a ton of offense there. So maybe he gets playing with crazy gets on that line. I also don't think the Bruins are done, by the way, I think they're really going to be in on Mark stone. If that's a possibility, but I like the move. I mean for Ryan auto, it could be a trade where you know, down the line Bruins fans like we treated this guy. You know, he's got that ability that shot to be a big time offense if player, but like you said, you gotta learn to play the whole way, I think he knows how but coming from college. It's a big jump. He's going to have a long career. But right now, I can see why they're going to do what they can in terms of moving guys who aren't a part of the team who aren't apart of the everyday roster because they're trying to win a Cup. The Bruins wind. Ios, you know, getting a little smaller. And so they're going to do what they can to move guys that are impacting right now to try to get a guy who they think can where say big reason for him being healthy is is the fact that he's in the gym you mentioned he's a bit of a gym rat this kind of I guess poses the question. I wonder if if the press tried to get him because not to take anything away from oil. It might have to do with the financials of in Boyle may be making less money. But to me a little bit more upside offensively from coil, and they gave up what they gave up a first rounder to get boil. Correct Bill tech and all they gave up a second. Okay. I'm curious to know of that would have been a bit enough to get the job done for coil. But nonetheless, I think this is a big pickup for the B's gives them a little depth that center ice if that's where they're going to use them. And I think just a guy who needed a change of scenery..
