Um, David, we used to go all the time. And I remember you in several Plays and in consecutive summers, I think, beginning in 76 I remember the most trapped very clearly, uh, and several other romantic comedy and most of them being comedies, But I wondered if you remember them if you remember playing Cape Cod. In the seventies and early eighties. And if you did theater, remember a series that didn't work? Uh, called the invisible man, and I think It had a short run of 13 weeks or less. And maybe this is because you participated in summer stock. Or did you do this theater just to recharge your batteries or as an exercise? I mentioned the invisible man when I introduced David, but Uh, David, if you could answer his question. Well, invisible man is one story completely separate had nothing to do with summer stock. Summer stock was some of the some of the most wonderful years or months that we spent together as a family. The Children were very young. We had a lot of friends along the routes in theaters were great. I love playing Dennis, Massachusetts with the best And, you know, one night Hawk crew when a record a lot of fish and that this big table always big fish on them, and I didn't know what to do with them. So I was the one that was again did the life because I know how to feel the efficient get it ready cooking and then they cooked it and then a great time. I think was a bit oily, and they should guide But no, we had a wonderful, wonderful that every year many, many different place, I think Curl. Shelley and I held the record for the number of times going back to that circuit. And there was Dennis, Massachusetts, We went down to Palm Beach. Um, that I think when I started, there were about 12 years. Maybe more. And then it's slowly dwindled over the years, the theater's closed Until there were only there was Westport. But with the pandemic and with the budget for the keeping the whole crew safe testing and everything to CVS, and everybody has had to cut down on the number of shows. They produced and ducky is a character is very interesting, but I think the younger and the new members and the people that are coming in now Two NC A as the program. Semi documentary story about what the true and CIA agents do in order to keep the Marines and the others were with the Marines safe and Healthfully, and I would, you know, prosecute them when they commit crimes, And that's what the story is all about. The man from Uncle was a fictitious thing on NBC way back in the past. Friend had nothing to do with then CIA on nothing to do with reality for that matchup jump from one convention to another just for oil. It's a was sort of cheap joke. As far as I'm concerned, which people loved Until I was proved wrong in the end. Well, let me ask this and then I'll take my break. The movie that came out about four or five years ago. With Henry Cavil and Army actor. They brought back The title. The man from Uncle There were very few similarities and that movement and that team spoke to Robert or I or anybody else associated with the show. They just when did that movie and they did a very like job. She was beautiful and gorgeous and wonderful, knew how to wear all those clothes. But Apart from that, you know, there wasn't nothing extra special about it, and certainly no reference to what we did. And I didn't. "However, A small movie a long time. A girl. It was cold Day to remember. Yes, and and you played the system Wireless operator on the top Katic. There are I believe it was the first review made about the Titanic. And But it was just very, uh, like like old movies, and that's one of my favorite and there you did very well on that movie. As was interesting concert. Remember it well. Um, I ran because I drove out to Pinewood and they had built a huge section of the ship on the back lock, but the angle it was when it was sinking, and it was the most Impressive said I think I've ever seen in my life, uh, even better than the sets on Cleopatra, but that sure so real so real. Because I heard that they used the new technology in order to fill those, uh, parts, you know, with the Dutch chairs, removing as a secret Chevy as ship was seeking. You have the And the chairs and the tables in the dining room. It was very Breathtaking, I guess, but it was clear the movie people saw the other Titanic. Um, it's a very interesting and sobering, um, difference to actually sit down and watch. Tonight's remember and those people that liked the film that Titanic should actually watch, and I remember because it's it's very educational and teaches you a great deal. And a night to remember depended much more on acting. I'm not knocking Leonardo, the Caprio and Bill easing or any of the other performance that made that movie, But they didn't have the special effects available to them in 1959, so they depended on acting. What a novel idea. Yes, well, yeah. They had an extraordinary group of special effects people that created the images and remember which are quite defying. And of course, when we were in the water, you know, bride is one of the people who survived, so he managed to get himself onto the an upturned lifeboat. And we shot it in the rice. That leader which is the little reservoir in the north of London, and it was only about 10 degrees warmer than it was in the Atlantic and the ship sank. Remember being very, very cold in that water. You know? Wow. Yeah, because I heard that they used to do kind of technology to film. Those scenes with the The first ER drifting up and back there. It's quite dramatic, and, uh, also were that, uh, the cast that already young and Bernard Fox with that movie, too? Yeah, That's how I don't know to remember. Yes, it's funny. You know, with the way I think you know, I'm an old man now, and I've And through some real real tough times. And I've seen the city girl I've seen people change and I've seen communities in transition. So you know you go with What is best for the collective good. No. Charlie Baker. Let me tell you something. When I was mayor of Boston, Charlie Baker was administration and finance. Under. I guess it was Bill Weld. And he came up to the apartment house. And he sat there and talked to me for about three hours. And he wanted to know what's going on the city because I had been an elected official in Boston for many years, both as a state representative and as a city councilor. Well, I talked to him. Principally above what I believe. And one of the things that I was talking about that had a big impact on him, apparently was my commitment to the homeless. I did a lot for the homeless people, not fan fears. I'm not Press releases are not any of that kind of stuff. Just I mentioned this guy that was the homeless guy. Any date. And I saw him die. His name was Jimmy the broom. If you check the paper, you'll see that Jimmy Broom was quite a tragic character home her every homeless person. Well, anyway, you know that was motivating factor with me, and I told Charlie Baker who's just coming in to be the top person under governor welds. And he said maybe 78 10 years later. He said, one of the things that have the greatest impact on his political life. Was listening to Mayor Ray Flynn. Talk about the homeless. He thought he was going to talk about finances because he was the head of administration and finance. Charlie was And he said he talked about the poor. He talked about the homeless. He talked about the needy. He talked about people didn't have any housing in all this. And and and Charlie almost started crying Really when he when he told me that story years later. And you know that we're like, What can you answer that? Can you answer the question? No, no, no. I mean the question. Not the way you wanted some way I want to wear you understand that. Well, it doesn't sound like stand. I'm not answering the question The way you wanted answered. I'm answering the question. I I vote for the person on their character. On their their what? What's important to them. I don't go checking around to see what their picture what their position is on income tax and and all these other things, they all change. Everybody kind of ever made sim kinda just goes and a lot of people have an opinion on him but everyone does met him kind of likes it. because he's very he's sort of built for what he does which is to make movies and be a big star and that seems to be his is rosen and he does it very very well and he's very generous and extremely professional and lovely and you kind of like you me him and you come away so i every time if ever he contacted me in any way of very sort of pigeon arrives with his little d- on i get very excited. Still busy is a mind-blowing blowing or is it just seemed natural to you that you are now in star trek and then obviously when doing spaced is all about paying homage. These genres is it. Mind or is it just happened and it happens over very long. Jump into a very hot bath without lowering yourself and your scream head off. If you lower yourself in very gently you'll just above. And i am a state of just because it's very strange but also you realize that it's just a business. I don't know it demoralizes itself as you enter into it so once you once you're sort of parts of star. Trek is amazing because the sets are incredible. And we're very excited about what we're doing because it's star trek and you know no one ever loses sigh of that but it is also a job and just sort of get on with it. I threw up on this on the last one. Really violently i was at twice actually was poisoning but i had to do a scene in the film where i had to run across this long space hangar and i have to sort of let kirk come about through this whole economy. I'm trying not to say that. And and i if it was benedict. Got an actor coming in and i had to sprint down and it was. It was a massive set in plyer in california where they where they they built. The spruce moose. This was what was it. Called with the preschools. This bs they build that plane there and it's a gigantic hanger and they build sets there. That are too big to go into film studios so we built the hangar of this ship. Vengeance and i had to run down and i i ran so fast and i just wanted to impress. Jj because he's back kind of guy because he he's very lovely man but you just want to do your best time. I sprinted down. And i fucking ran so fast and all the crew clapping and stuff and the little caught bike had to fight to keep up with me and i lied nailed it and it was like everyone's go like this at the end. And then jesuit man. That was great it again and again and then i had a little break and i recovered my heart rate. Went down to one hundred one thousand nine and then i did it again and by that time i was just letting. Jj we got we just do one more. We're going to change. Come in a bit closed. So i did it again and at the end of that i just went trailer for a quick and be back in a minute and i am against much just my lunch before. I didn't know we were doing this than i'd studying the whole plague of met say the catering america fantastic as a over there. I just because it might not happen. So so. i basically bombed up a lovely lunch ida very similar experience. How he's almost identical on this fister fund. There is to catch the boy who cried wolf. Yes i was routinely done for years and it was about a boy cried wolf and then it was delighting in making from run up the hill to and stuff. I just played one of the villages. I wasn't even made and we'd been out filming like we more place. We stayed in the hotel. And like i've got really pissed. I didn't do this all the time. We had to run up and down this hill so many times even just as the retail and then i wasn't even in the gender is as good story. I've seen a couple of interviews with the cast off. Because i think he should have scott. Powerfully this is how i get. The suicide confessions been kid who i am. You melted stephen fry. It seems like you have good. So cameraderie play playing practical jokes on each other on on the set of what. That wasn't that that i really like you hear about this. Sometimes you hear about the likes of clooney but pale playing jokes. And i'm not a big practical joker i don't like i don't like people. Get embarrassed lecomte watch any show. Anyone gets embarrassed like account. Watch any of the talent shows. Or i can't even watch strictly come dancing because i just don't like seeing people get embarrassed in any way and practical joke shows but i was i was in. We were filming at this nuclear facility in northern california coordinator if which is the national ignition facility where they are trying to create nuclear fusion by bombarding helium atoms with something and every seven hours. And they're trying to ignite a small son like in spite of onto which sounds quite dangerous but they they will when it happens. It will be a sustainable source of energy. Which will completely make. If it doesn't destroy the world doesn't suck us all in a war. I mentioned.
