"Trump speak with reporters there on the lawn of the White House on his way to marine one I believe yeah and what that meant start right and what we heard him talk a lot about was a lot of questions about his back and forth with the democratic Congress woman but on the news discussing what he thought about the latest actions in Iran and specifically the president saying he will work with the U. K. government on a response Teheran seizure of a British oil tanker in the strait of her movies we've been covering that he says with a very close alliance with the U. K. I will be working with the United Kingdom but keep in mind the news around revolutionary guard corps announcing that it sees the tanker today escalating tensions are really one of the world's critical energy checkpoints all right let's check in with David Marino he is will bring his team leader of oil trading America's he turns on the phone from New York City and David great to have you with us thanks for joining us at the last minute here busy Friday afternoon I know for you so what's going on and what has been the U. S. reaction so far I was just point out that crude oil has jumped about one point four percent so we did see some reaction go ahead David yes will lose according to the telegraph so usually telegraph Iran confirms using a second tanker me in the Persian Gulf and that should make a second so we make a right turn towards towards Iran suddenly this afternoon and and at this point were waiting for more or solid response from the U. S. but the US is working with the U. K. to respond to the tanker incidents a sense of kind of the news you've gotten throughout the week because at one point it did seem like around was offering up an olive branch trying to figure this out willing to you know agreed to you know moderate in terms of its nuclear program and ambitions we're like I'm trying to make sense of the back and forth that we've seen throughout the week it's hard to say what this strategy is here and this seems to be a constant ping pong of more dovish and more hawkish news coming from coming from Iran and the U. S. on you know some of the tensions men for June first two certainly send deal market has shrugged off some of this stuff but with the seizure of the two tankers since really started to push prices a bit higher and so what we see from here David what's your best guess on who started the next move goes to and what the oil market may be more most importantly for your team is going to be looking at well what oil traders will be looking at is anything that indicates the shipping is constrained key of the ships are going to move to the state or was that that would be that would be the big thing and if ships are avoiding going through there or if they're slow down going through there at that could affect prices so this is probably already built into the price David Marino thank you so much Bloomberg news team leader of oil trading America's on the phone in New York as we mentioned right now crude oil just up about one point four percent alright let's get a check on the market reaction to that news and more for that we go to trial thank you very much and here's what's going on we have got stocks trading lower now with the down the S. and P. and nasdaq all in retreat stay with Bloomberg for the latest on the seizure that British tango right now the S. and P. is down fourteen at twenty nine eighty across their of five tenths of one percent the Dow lower by twenty six down one tenth of one percent nasdaq down fifty a drop there of six tenths of one percent ten years down six thirty seconds with the yield of two point oh four percent gold remaining on the minus side down one point four percent fourteen twenty five the ounce again worth repeating on crude oil up one point four percent fifty six oh nine a barrel Brent crude is up one point nine percent sixty three eleven apparel we've got ten minutes to go ahead of the close again recapping SMP down fourteen to drop their of five tenths of one.

"Our global look ahead at the top stories for investors in the coming week. I'm Bob moon in New York top executives in the oil industry are gathering in Houston for a major conference and Bloomberg daybreak television anchor. Alix steel will be there. She joins us now for a preview, and Alex tell us about this gopher so they're letting me in the studio it's going to be a big deal have allowed to go. So basically this happens everywhere year, it's called Sarah week is in Houston, and it's all the major players in the oil industry, whether or not you're an oil executive or allow the energy ministers like Nigeria are coming out of other countries there to like the Israeli energy minister is also going to be there. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo seems to be there. We head. Rick Perry will be there. So it's it feels like a lot of politics this year in the oil community different than say last year where I feel like it was a lot about sort of shale producers, then tell us about some of the things to your expected. So what I think we're going to hear a lot of is the confluence between say President Trump and OPEC and sort of who has control over the oil price, and what rhetoric sort of wins, President Trump, you know, a couple of weeks ago said that OPEC needs to relax that they don't need to cut oil so much and then Saudi Arabia energy minister, the next day was basically like, Nope. Sorry, where we see the US brimming with supplies were still cutting and that conflict kind of setting up the narrative for Sarah week, and then as an oil producer. What do you do with that? I mean, some of the things are going to be idiosyncratic to the US like if you're pipeline operator. Right. You got a lot of supply in the Permian you're gonna want to get it out. But if you're a total what do you do with that kind of pushing poll, but these two huge superpower. When you have US Russia and Saudi Arabia, the trip three top producers and two of them are still going at each other on this. It looks like the US is just a wash in oil right now. Does that continue? I. Yeah. I it's. Okay. So short term the answer. Easy answer. Be. Yes. The longer term the answer is I'm not sure you years ago, if you'd have asked me that question, I would have been like you bet. I mean, not only do we have a lot of oil, but there's so much money in technology are India right now to get the oil out used to be concentrated in the actual drilling. Like how you drill and sort of cool technology related to that. Now, the cool technology is going to be how do you improve the recovery ratio and get more oil out of what you're already getting out of the ground. That said what's really interesting now, the senior get nerdy guys into it is that there's this thing called parent child wells. So it kind of is what it is. It's well it's been there for a while. And then you frac a new kind of close to it. And what we've noticed is that the interfere with each other. And so companies had come out and said things like, hey, we're going to build, you know, we're gonna drill seventeen wells. It's going to be amazing. And now they have to come back and say actually, we can only drill ten and that winds up reducing production. Profile. So that's sort of like a question in the market that no one seems to know how to answer. So that's interesting on the flip side, you have the majors like shell like Chevron Exxon are literally all in let me throw a ringer in here. What is the future of OPEC? What's your timeframe? Does it ever reemerge? Let me put it that way. I don't think it can in the same way. It's always going to be some kind of moderator in the market just because they have the third largest producer Saudi Arabia. They're always going to control the marginal barrel to some extent. Even if it's in the us, they're always going to have control on that. But if you do notice is that Saudi Arabia's talking up gas A lot cutter left OPEC, many say that's because they want to focus on gas and not oil Israel is going to be at Sarah week talking about how to get basically international national money into Israel because they have a ton of gas deposits, and they want to develop them. So it feels like the future will be gas. Then everyone knows that. It's just a matter of who's going to win in that. And then what comes next? So what interview are you looking forward to in the coming week? I'm talking to the CEO of Phillips kind of go has a really interesting Alaskan deposit that we're going to talk a lot about interviewing the Tata. Head of exploration and production, basically, the number two to the CEO fatigue. You're all is ahead. We're going to have two thousand nine hundred outlook from them shell a free port Ellen g which is an export of Ellen g also going to be talking to Ecuador which really has led the way when it comes to oil and climate change. They changed their name Cassatt oil from Ecuador. So they're really the guys who want to be paying attention to also energy secretary, Rick Perry Israeli, energy minister and also talking to Bob Dudley, BP and traffic Gura, which never gives interviews that's one of the major trading houses out there. So that's going to be super cool. So I'm pretty pumped about that quite a slate. And you'll hear that of course on Bloomberg television and radio in the coming week. Our thanks to Bloomberg daybreak television anchor Alex Steele. Let's see what else is going on in the commodity space. And for that we bring in Bloomberg's Jessica summers. Jessica, Bob US. Crude exports are near record highs, and the US and China may be nearing a deal that could lead to China buying eighteen billion dollars of fuel from a major US. Gas exports. Her Bloomberg's oil trading, America's team leader. David Marino joins me here in New York to discuss the outlook on domestic exports. Great to have you here. Dave, thanks. So let's talk us. Crude exports shipments were above three million barrels a day at the end of last month, and we have many pipeline operators in the process of building new lines that will allow oil to be shipped from the Cushing area down to the Gulf Coast. Do you think this will encourage producers to just go ahead and pump more knowing their crew can be exported more easily? Yes is the surgeon crew production isn't over by any means in most of it will need to be exported. So the additional lines from both Cushing and west Texas to the Gulf Coast will allow that to happen. We're at the point where more oil is needed from the US, and we even saw supertankers footing empty to the US Gulf earlier this year as OPEC's shipments decreased and was still growing demand for US oil. And so what impact will grow in US? Crude exports have on the global oil market place in general. The shelve who has already affected oil we've seen the US become a net. Oil and products exporter for brief periods of time. And it puts more pressure on OPEC to continue and extend their output cuts and to keep barrels off the market and avoid club. And at the same time as OPEC takes heavier, higher sulfur oil off and the US adds more lighter. Low-sulphur fuel on it creates a bit of an imbalance that upsets normal pressure relationships. Now, I also want to bring up US liquefied natural gas exports. The international Energy Agency's fatty bureaus spoke to Bloomberg on the topic. Let's take a listen. US exports are growing very strongly shade guys and Jeep run after under projects you can get to China. China import needs are growing double digit growth said there are reports that a deal between the US and China could include a commitment from China to by eighteen billion dollars of fuel from senior energy, which is really one of the pioneers of US natural gas exports. So what would this mean for Chenier, and what's expected in terms of Ellen g exports to China in the future? I know China is the fastest growing market for Ellen g any times a supplier can cemented deal and increase a deal with the biggest customer in the world. They're going to be very happy about that. And we've seen the company's shares jumped on news that Ellen g was considered to be a big part of the trade deal. So it won't be just she near. But other companies that are exporting as US production keeps growing we'll be looking to Asia to lineup deals. Very interesting. Dave, thanks very much for joining me. This is one of the topics were watching and commodities for the week ahead in New York. I'm jessica. Summers. Bob. Thank you. Jessica coming up on Bloomberg daybreak weekend..
