"I guess the dumber they're willing to admit they are the more i'm willing to go with. It and i'm willing to say that if i were ranking it on the scale of fast and furious it would be on the higher end. I liked it better than at least three or four of them but i didn't want to do that again. I felt like this movie had an opportunity to be more by expanding the universe and i think that yeah if you go back and you redo genre genre they're so clearly in love with the eighties cop genre. You've got to do more with it. Hot fuzz did with you got to be smart. I get what you're saying stewart because i remember that was my disappointment with the expendable seemed ripe for some postmodern deconstruction with eighties action heroes and it gives you an eighties action film yeah. I don't think they're we do any better with this for all of their money and all the time spent they have some stars that i find more charismatic than the action human of the eighties but charisma only gets you so far and it. It doesn't get you a green from me. I wanted to recommend this film. I really did and that's why. I say i'm the audience for this. I was down for just some good action shen but man david leach let me down in this one i feel like he is brought more to every other production he did here. You know deadpool two this emphasis. This was not on action was not on practical effects by any means but what he did is he made it funny and he kept me going with the character and and it also had a story to which i actually felt a little bit invested with that kid who was despondent and wanted to burn down the school here the story. Let me down down and the action. Let me down. I ended up becoming pretty numb throwing the phil. I think that's a fair assessment. I again even knew jacob. Predict that in a couple years. Maybe maybe some of this charm. We'll have worn off. No i fully admit that in the moment and again. I agree if you like the trailer. It's a good indication whether you're going to enjoy the movie or not but i think the best stuff isn't the trailer. I think all you really need to see that scene of them. Walking down the hallways. You don't need two and a half hours. You need two and a half minutes yeah. That is the best thing that's the best and only thing they're going to do in the movie yeah. That's where i was at is. I liked the trailer. If the movie had been as good as the trailer then i would have recommended the ville well. We're still going to be getting more fast and furious. I predict we're going to get more hobson shaw but that is yet to be determined when they being counters way in they'll decide whether there's more in in the future for these two but they are not going to be participating in the movie coming out in two thousand twenty summer two thousand twenty you get fast and furious nine of course gonna have been diesel. Sergio rodriguez tirees ludicrous some old friends from previous. They're going to have charlie's their own back. They're apparently going to have the white guy from tokyo. Drift back really that's the rumor anyway and then the new guy they're bringing in makes sense another wrestler john cena fresh from bumblebee. Yeah i notice he's trying to have a career earlier now. He was in those daddy homes films. He was in blockers. I saw some firemen movie poster that he's going to be in so i guess he's trying to be the next raw believe it or not even for kathy lee gifford on the kathy lee show for a lap very straight. Oh wow okay. He has an outreach towards even female..

"We hear from the man who was responsible for the mayhem unleashed in fast and furious cohen hobbs amazon shore so it is david leach who of course is director of while co director john wick director of atomic blonde director of deadpool two and now director of the aforementioned movie that that i'm not going to say the name off because it is frankly very confusing and that's actually where we began. We began with the title of this movie an it's very clever way of circumventing the m._p._a._a.'s the a._a.'s f-bomb rule so here we go me talking to david leach do enjoy delighted to be joined on this very very special hobbs and shaw or do you call it. Fast and furious percents hopes insurance borders special david lynch. What are what are you. Thank you for the intro. Yes we call it. The fast and furious presents hobson shah. It's a mouthful isn't it is it is it is a sequel something like you know the fastest period presents hobson shop presents something yeah i think it's important didn't to connect to that world and to that fan base and i think it was always something you know. They really wanted to make sure that we we let people know that we're sort of entrenched trenched in situ beloved franchise. Maybe next up hobson show percents fast and furious nine. There's a i would love. I i would love that percents furious short presents we go. You know it's funny not to just talk to demonize demon have question looking out the window here and that is the building that we did the dissenter sequence on it's right there. It's pretty amazing. They yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. That's why because i've never been to the junk at this hotel yeah and i presume that's one of the reasons why did it so you can point at your actual locations eh around hall show. I won't reveal the name of the hotel that we're in. I always like to start these specials with the big question. That's on everybody's everybody's lips and in this case it is. How do you get round the m._p._a._a. With this movie because for the last few years as far as i understand it you're allowed one f-bomb ullman impeach thirteen correct. You rounded here by having to people say fuck at exactly the same time. Did you have any problems of the cia or we look at the m._p. A a is it's it's a sort of it's a difficult sort of a entity to work with but i think that ultimately if you look at it in a positive way they're trying to protect artists from future legislation so there's sort of a counseling body and saying hey you know we wanted just we wanna wanna make sure that you're not offending people because at some point than legislation comes in and makes it a hardcore demand the law and i think that that's a good thing that what they're doing. How do you get around it. Well you have conversations. You plant a lot more f bombs in your movie so you can take a bunch out on and that's exactly what you do. I mean i think you you submit the first pass with like what you'd really want you. You say we had a couple other f. Bombs in there and we even had the mouthing of a hobbs on the sender sequence in the actual online online trailer but then in the in the actual movie we had to spiderweb the glass so you can kind of see his mouth and that was the last negotiation and they're like you. Gotta get rid of the mouth thing of f you were like really but yes so we ended up getting away with two bombs as long as they're said a similar opinion so yes. I worked out great a very clever. I mean my experience on deadpool two. I learned a lot about the m._p._a._a. And especially when we did the christmas special yes because that was like an experiment of how do we cut this movie down. That's supposed to be our <hes> a- and make it into something that's p._g. Thirteen how would you lead character..

"And I don't think it's fourteen million. But otherwise that's pretty much at least the last half of chapter two. We talked about that film along with a sacred cow review of John wick a couple years ago. I'm not going to recite my reviews of either movie, but I'll say that I loved John wick I loved the first one it was pretty mixed onto and the primary reason was all the time. Time it devoted to the details of this underground world. It took what was so fascinating about the first one or at least a major part of. What was so fascinating about the first one some of the rules that apply to these assassins the currency? What's allowed, and what's forbidden? And it just got lost in all of those Macintoshes for me. I just got enough to latch onto in that first one. You got the sense that the world was so robust that the directors David Leach, and CHAD'S to Helsinki had created that they were just skimming the surface of it. But that again to me just made it even more intriguing in the more. We learned in chapter two the less intriguing. It was so I'm wondering if three is going to get even more lost. Or is it going to return to the simplicity of one? I'm a little worried after reading a few comments from chess to Helsinki who directed to solo and his directing three as well. He said as far as set pieces go we have a few more things we didn't use from number two. We want not so much to. Oh, bigger on the third one. And that's a great start. Yeah. Sounds good. Then he says, but instead to show you more of the intricacies of the world. I feel like there's all these different subtleties that I skipped over a number to that. I'd like to go back to a number three and show you the inner workings of different parts of New York rather than massive set pieces. I'd like to show you cooler more intricate ones, so intricate sounds okay? I'm certainly okay with not giving us massive set pieces. But I think that word subtleties. There is key. How subtle will it be with those world building and mythology details, and how much will it decide that? That's what makes John wick cool because it's really not John wick is just inherently cool. And I'm willing to follow him doing just about anything. It could be just him going to the grocery store for eighty five minutes. And I think I would be on board with a positive review. Yeah. There's been diminishing returns from the original to the follow up. I would agree. I liked the original maybe not quite as much as. As you did. But definitely one of the things that did was chief that balance of giving you just enough to believe in the world without getting lost in. So that's hard for subsequent installments to expand. Without overwhelming intrigued by this. I do feel like are. We just kind of at this point to committed to it because we were playing catch up with that with that sacred cow review. True, we had kind of missed out on the first enthusiasm for John wick and played catch up with John chapter two. So we'll see I guess we do have to round it out with three. Hopefully, it'll be a a move back in the right direction as seventeenth is win. John wick chapter three comes out my number one question for this summer movie season. Will I be team Hobbs her team shot? No way. Oh, yeah. You're not even going to see this movie. I'm calling shenanigan was I or was I not just in a theater with my wife where this trailer showed up. So obviously, she turned to be inside away. We're going to see that. At she's into Hobbs or Shaw or the violence, which is well when we did our speaking of another we Iran there. Dish. I don't know if they ask her that when we did the catch up to the fast and furious franchise..

"You are a fan of the franchise. I believe. Yeah. Yeah. I like I like the the French. French franchise franchises brought in five billion dollars. It's huge internationally. First of all, what did you think of this trailer? And is this smart spinoff of vested furious? It is smart because the rock and Jason Stefano are gigantic names and can carry movie on their own for sure, they always like the best parts of the movie, anyways, the rock has always been one of the better. Like, okay, when they added the rock in fast five bright that rejuvenated the series more than anything else. Okay. He was just it's that was the best part Jason state as all right? The weird thing about Jason stay is. He was the bad guy to films ago. Okay. And he did some really vile shit. And now he's like the good guy. It's kinda hard to like. Okay opera hand. But. They're like, yeah. They don't like each other Hobbes's the tank, and he's like the military guy and Shaw is the X criminal. That's a little bit more swath and stealthy as far as trailer. I mean, it's fucking ridiculous. But if you've followed fast and fierce up to this point, it's gotten more ridiculous as each movie has passed, but they've never done a enhanced bad, a straight up superhero. Idris Elba as a super soldier. Looks fucking amazing. Actually what the fuck like it's over the top. They don't give shit. I mean over the whole the whole seat at the end where they're falling writing down a building. And there's like like there's communication. He's in the elevator. They just constantly are running. How tall is this fucking building? For like a minute talking to each other not only that he's punching guys these guys. These mouthing swear words the day's pay the fucking great net girl is the girl of mission impossible fallout. Remember that girl? She was he saved her from the like that one nightclub the blonde girl. Remember, he's very attractive. I was like, oh, I remember that girl. So choose very good in that movie to she can fight. But yeah. Again, the car going under the semi truck I've always dreamed of actually doing that. Could you do that you compare Lee could do that? I don't know if you can do there's a lot of things that they in these movies that I'm one hundred percent positive. You can't do that. They're doing. I mean. It's it's the it's the superhero action movie without superheroes. With a super velit. And now it's the spin offs. I think you've gotta hit franchise here. I think he Got got there. there. Like multibillion got another another good thing going with this. I mean to be to be quite honest. Yeah. Although VIN diesel is the the face of fast and furious. He's probably the least charismatic Ana these actors. So. Which the rock them smart as Shah film? I mean, it's smart. I would wanna see been is one of these roles like how many times can we see VIN diesel and his family doing stuff like this is a good. That's every move segue. Yeah. Good split this directed by David Leach, deadpool two John lick David Leach. I I mean already you could tell the actions give each just fucking crazy over the top..

"So I think from from this report from deadline, they don't have a writer attached to this yet, but Leach who also directed or co directed the first John wick movie, and he was a stunt guy. He's also directing. Hobson Shaw, which is the first fast and furious spin off movie. He is now attached to direct this film. So I mean, he's obviously a guy who knows a lot about fight sequences and stunt choreography and stuff like that. So he makes a certain amount of sense for an enter the dragon remake. I know that a lot of people probably think that the idea of remaking enter the dragon which is like a nineteen Seventy-three. Bruce Lee martial arts movie might seem like a like a sacrilegious idea, but I haven't seen the movie in a long long time. But from what I remember of it, it's basically just like a martial arts competition movie. And we've seen so many of those over the years that it almost feels like this movie has been remade. Anyway, Chris, I think when this came up, you said something about how Bruce Lee was the reason that this movie succeeds right. Yeah, it's a weird idea to me. I mean, like you said, this idea has essentially been remade before. I mean, the mortal Kombat movie is a remake of this idea, but it just feels wrong to call it enter the dragon. Like I get why they would do that because it has, you know, brand recognition, that's all anyone cares about, but it just feels wrong because it just feels like that belongs so entirely too Bruce Lee and his legacy. Like I'm all for a martial arts movie directed by David Leach because that guy is great at directing action, but just, you know, call it something else. You could still dragging their title just call something. Yeah, it's interesting because I, when I was doing some research for this article, I saw that Kurt Sutter, who is the creator of the FX show, sons of anarchy was actually looking to make a an inter- the dragon remake his direct to'real debut back in two thousand nine. This is like almost ten years ago, and that version of the movie would have been called awaken the dragon. And it would have starred rain, the Korean pop star who is in movies, like a ninja assassin and he was like.

"Yes i did so yeah i i will flat out say i hate deadpool on i think it's a bad movie i don't think it's funny i think it's poorly directed i really didn't like it so i wasn't exactly excited to see this although i thought the trailer is made to look better than the first one but you know what it it got me i will say the script is very threadbare there's almost no character development for any of the new characters which is kind of a problem but the film is so consistently funny that it doesn't really matter the jokes all not all but ninety percent of the jokes work here and best of all is is the direction i'm i i again i know people love the first ed pool but i feel like that film is very poorly shot it's just has a very point and shoot look to it but this film directed by david leach say his name one of the directly john wick he directs the hell out of this movie it's gone a lot of style the action looks great so i thought i think that went a long way to making me like it whereas it was better directed and i don't know it's a good movie for when you need a pick me up like i don't wanna get too personal but i was having kind of a shitty week and watching this in a theater with people eating it up and laughing all jokes it just made me feel somewhat better after after kind of a crappy week so i don't know it's a good.

"I tell you this is going to be a good movie but i'm definitely going to see it and should come as no surprise deadpool two deadpool two may eighteenth i'm very nervous because david leach director is in tim miller directors out but he did atomic glove i know david lee has a couple of films under his belt unofficially the director of john wick and director of atomic blonde both of which i liked and like the more than i thought i would so a stunt coordinator and he's just done coordinator so there's a positive things going for it adding josh brolin to the cast as a sequel to the surprise twenty sixteen deadpool sequels you're betting against the house if you if you're taking the sequel but i'm hoping at least it'll be it'll be enjoyable you like the the guerrilla campaign in terms of the against the grain this time sheep sheep can't can't bob ross because that's deadpool is pool is is silly and irreverent and a little edgy so i'd i don't mind that affinity word is he show up there that would be really surprising why wouldn't show up he's part of the because i think he's sort of an outsider to that universe i don't know i i'm not i'm not uptodate almonte my avengers spoilers that i've not heard anything about deadpool avengers mature for me i see the the problem with doing it in this order because it leaves something to be desired for sendo for the climax on however these could be could be solid films.

"Sort of as we start sorta do we want to start moving yeah thing where you the segue into the dead pulled who trailer so yeah obviously we got a new deputy trailer this week which i think was a much much stronger trailer than the venom trailer i i will say though that i've i'm still a little wary of david leach doing this because i side atomic blonde this summer this past summer as not very impressed like there's some good action beats but other than that it's pretty you know pretty mediocre so i d i think the jury's sort of out on that but you know what we saw was very very fun leading sorta ryan reynolds do we think the whole toy story thing i was like in pieces and reward work cover commentary as that on disney though uh you know because now did that we should just remind you guys dead pool to is a fox movie is getting bought by disney it's not a done deal yet but i don't think it's any accident that they have this you know beloved disney character of woody of him dressed up as woody shoving his crouch in cables phase i feel like i got ta season nad stones very all an ice the ira guide to a guy that pine he really does sit next to me yes but you know i i feel like there was definitely some nontoosubtle commentary in that yeah yeah which is that's fun us light the trail enough it was hilarious i watched it multiple times and had this big stupid granada may face not normal different from my normal faces by it uh yeah i thought that it was really good is really strong a kind of did the thing where it showed you cable being a an awesome bad acid like totally dialed up to eleven like his gun goes right with the 90s extreme step yet it also wasn't afraid have fun with ahead with i do the pas thing like oh come on to the army those digil mustache removal oriana great i was hilarious so yeah and yet i it just i i do feel like confident about the movie.

"Um so obviously the entire production you know is is devastated by this news both ryan reynolds and director david leach have a really statements about a lena lamenting the accident at its just really tragic i i hope that this is an you know a a trend that's gonna be starting because stunts are getting bigger and uh stump people are getting more risky that we're going to see more tags accidents occur because that said it's not good for anybody in it should be mentioned dave leach uh got his start as a stuntman uh you can see him a believe david leach was the guy did atomic bhandari yes yes yes he you could see him in fight club uh falling down a set of stairs as tower stir dirty a stunt double so he he started stunned per person became a second this a second uh assist eric assistant director our second indrika rather uh and as director on this film so you can tell the he's probably taking it uh worse than anybody being responsible for that uh guys let's jump into the mail bag uh mitch from maryland whenever for our favorite uh listeners rates in with the following quote i've been a movie past subscriber for more than a year with a subscription price of thirty dollars a month based on my moviegoing habits are typically break even but occasionally do a little better in some of the movie heavy summer months needless to say i was a static when i heard you guys report that they were taking the price drop to nine 95 but now i'm reading the amc is trying to block movie pass and is even threatening legal action but i can't figure it y and improving you guys can help break it down for me to mitch has a bunch of questions how does movie passes subscription service negatively impact amc other statement points to sustainability of movie passed but i'm not sure why they would care in theory movie pass who drive more viewers to see the more movies who would then eat more popcorn which is what everyone wants rate and less empty is plenty launcher somewhere venture for a higher price why the move to block them honestly baffled in him curious your thoughts cheers.
