"David Laura, errands, probably you've seen it's an app or you see it on Facebook. Sometimes where you can kind of snap a picture of yourself. Right. And somehow that there's a program or whatever that extrapolates out. You know, what you're gonna look. Like ten years from now. And our thirty years from now and so forth. And so on. Look. Yes. Yeah. So that's why I got my like silver FOX wig. And I was this. Right. That's what I remember. That's right. Go like what she's got this jet black hair? She had the silver wig on actually in touch with my future self. I said, and this this way, I can actually visualize what my life long, there's some benefits to this. Okay. To do this when it comes to financial planning, and I have a clip that I wanna share clip number three. Studies which I think really fascinating one was by Eva hall, Vidor MIT, and they look what seem payment why don't young people commit. And they did a study where they took an image of oneself at about twenty. And and slowly aged it said he is. So you get a sense of what you might not like what they discovered his people are much more likely to commit to a financial plan in that moment because they feel emotionally connected to the cousin. They will become now do you have to be British in order to do that? But she's absolutely right. I was reading those studies in my psychology courses. I'm so surprised. Okay. Yes. You know, what this is really cool stuff? Right. So when you think about it as a financial planner, I have a client come into my office. Would it be a good idea to have that program? Maybe some like big wide screen television. Right. Back bay snap a picture. Okay. Let's take a look down the road. What's going to happen here? Well, you know, are you might enemies at the time. But nobody that makes a lot of sense. And so as we see ourselves older than we're more likely to plan, and that's the great great thing. So, you know, I think sometimes as an adviser it's important for us. Not only to be to be optimistic. Right. But we also have to look at planning for the worst case scenario. Right. So, you know, you need to show sometimes people what failure would look like. And you know, because you know, if you don't see what can happen, right? Maybe then that may be a motivation for making some plans now. Doing some things now that will prevent you know, some of the worst case things I mean, what what are the worst things that can happen when with a retirement plan? I mean is that that you don't run out of money? So Dave, I think you're absolutely right. It's we have such a short memory. You know, we have all these past few years have been great, you know, in terms of stock returns, or what have you well last year, but the point is. We kind are have a short memory. But if you look back and say, hey, what would have happened if I retired right at two thousand eight what if I was one of those that lost thirty percent of my net. Take and then I had to retire. Right. Then what would happen would I have to go back to work because now they didn't have enough money to push forward to the future. Or what if it happened in two thousand two thousand one thousand same story. So we have to remind ourselves that we need to protect ourselves against roses. And I think a lot of times if we haven't personally tasted defeat, right when it comes to our finances and so forth. Well, then maybe we just have faith that somehow things are all going to work out. And of course, we know that that's not necessarily the case. So this is why it's so important to have your needs met Lord. I mean, when we s financial planners when we sit down with a client, we want our our think our most important thing that we can do is identify. Okay. What are your future needs? What? What is it that you're going? What is your future? Look like, how do you want to live? What is know? How do you see are you going to be, you know, downsizing, or are you going to be moving to another state? Are you going to continue to experience good health? And what if you don't? And so what do your future needs look like, and then how much money are we going to need to make those future needs come to fruition or to to reality. And now we need to take care of those future needs through an income stream of one sort or another that we can't outlive. No matter how long we some of the happiest conversations I've had with our listeners is that for example, last week talking to a listener who she really didn't think she had enough money to ever even go on a trip or a cruiser. If you remember that she was so thrilled because I said, no you actually have enough money. You have this money on the side that you can go just spend this fifty thousand dollars on trips or having fun. That was because you took care of her. Yes. Writes. Yes, because now she can start drawing about seven percent every year out of her account versus what her other financial planner was saying she can only take three or four percent she she could barely enough to live on. So you need to get your own illustration. So that you can understand what pocket of money, can I actually spend and have fun with and what is going to take care of my daily needs..
