"Am your host. Lv along with me for the ride is always as will the thrill alert. Everybody and tj to the deuce. Yeah hey hey hey so There's reason why mr t. j. two did not crack open his usual drank. We do have a trigger warning on this episode. This episode is going to be dealing with not only addiction with suicide. And if any of those things trigger you guys please. We completely understand if you turn this off and join us next week. Where we talk about christine. Grammy that's pretty much what we do. We do know that. That's a very heavy subject. We know a lot of people especially right now during fourteen and the holidays dealing with a lot of things right now but we certainly don't want anyone to feel alienated or Be put into a place that is not mentally healthy so we completely understand if you guys cut this off and then This week we we lost someone. It totally sucks that we lost. We lost since darth vader. We lost david kraus. He was the body for. Where's the physical the physical raider. I believe he was a weightlifter. Is that correct. And he professional body everybody really. Yeah wow so wouldn't have picked professional bodybuilder for darth. i'm maybe for chewy. But yeah you're may he was like seven four or something crazy like that and they were talking about how he actually got the part because he was sitting in his chair. When a george. Lucas walked into the room and went up. He stood up to shake his hand and he looked from the chair. All the way up the wall to almost the ceiling. And he's like i think we got our chewy. No that's a terrible loss because star wars at. This point is not just a part of of your childhood. It's it's essentially a part of your life and ongoing an ongoing part of your life. it was actually we. We the last movie that we saw before lockdown was the rise of skywalker that was the last movie is like that is forever. Encapsulated in now is almost a year ago. I because we don't make it to the theater a lot because it requires putting on pants and everybody knows. I don't like doing that. So but but yeah like star wars. I won't say was the first movie i ever saw vote. It was certainly one of the first movies that i saw visit. It came out seventy seven so it came out two years before i was born so i know that you know you probably were watching it when i was in the cradle return. I was the first movie. I saw in theaters while the last movie i saw before. Quarantine covid lockdown was probably honey. I blew up the baby. I don't go to the theater very often. Awhile that's why. That's why. I give actually christmas present every year of taking her to the movies right. Because i don't think there's one other are appeal to throw out there that bang. How catch them artist country artists from the nineties. Had i think seventeen top forty hits most from early nineties to about ninety nine two thousand. He was such he was such a good songwriter and he was such a gifted vocalist. He stood out. People have very strong opinions one way or the other about nineties country. At the time. I worked in country radio and a lot of people. Thought this sucks. This is all pop and rock and roll. And i don't like compared to what we have. Now it's a freaking gold mine honest and i. I don't hate everything now. But there's there's not a ton that i love. I know l. d. you like a little more than i do but of what's out there right now but i mean like maybe florida georgia line. We now you like them and there's a few others. I mean i i like chris stapleton alike Stargell sampson a lot and a few others but Casey most gripes huge fan. Her but he's great. Yeah but you know early. Mid nineties is actually. I think it's a little Milan unfairly because there was actually still a good bit of variety available for you. You had the traditional sounding. People the neo the neo traditionalist. I called jackson. Clint black randy travis. People like that. And you didn't have to find that ring in pop and you had like travis trip bringing in like a southern rock vob and people like the mavericks doing to hano and some cuban sounds than we kind of. We've in that end. Those tomatoes still a good. Bit of variety. Cow catch him. Sounded like a seventy singer-songwriter. He sounded like james taylor. Yeah absolutely yeah and he had that yeah like you said that cadence of sort of the i don't want to say soak but that's sort of now. That's that's very that's very accurate and interesting. He was from new york. Thanks from greenwich new york. And he has his his entire career is a study in persistence and not given up on your dreams. He was at it for twenty years before he got a record deal cheese. He was a carpenter. Who who would play those wherever he could play shows making a few bucks if he can make it. I'm just gonna say you can listen to the song small town saturday night and it doesn't sound like where you grew up and you recognize any of the people in that song and you don't hear yourself in that song you're not from a small town. It's it is a perfect summation of growing up in a little tiny town where there's nothing to do and the line about how the world drops off at the at the edge of town and stuff like that. It's it's it's. It's phenomenal songwriting. When i saw that he passed away. That's one of those that like. I was sad that he passed away. And i was equally said that more people didn't realize how bad that sucked because he was such a talented dude so or to him. And then you get like the tit for tat though when you find out dali pardon help fund the covid vaccine. There's not. I'm not convinced she's human. I'm not convinced that there are human beings as good as she is at a being person. I feel like we might have a three way fight. Who gets her episode. But i do feel like if it comes down to bare knuckle brawl and to you. I'm going win. I could see dirty but dolly dolly. Don't ever die someone. Please rapper in bubble wrap and keep her in fort knox full of whatever she's eight and right now and whatever she needs has damned jam national treasurer before she. Yes an absolute national treasure in one. Funny line before we jump into a pretty dark and pretty serious episode here mentioned casey must gripes. Did you see the crossroads that she did with katy perry. Now okay you know. See him as a show called crossroads where they take a country artist and they not country artists and they just thrown together and they do a concert in the in the court in the course of doing the show. Katy perry referred to casey muss graves as dolly parton with smaller boobs very big tremendous compliment and it's accurate in terms of getting a songwriter. It's dead on the money. Yeah so and then. I guess the last thing to wrap up is that yes. I did open up my oetzi shop europe so i got my first order from someone. That wasn't a friend or family member which is thrown off so it's called cinema sense and it's moving sat inspired candles so i have have a never ending story. I have the goonies. I have a supernatural line. So if any fans of supernatural are on there because you guys know. I'm a supernatural fan. We have gone with the wind. We have steel magnolias. We've got a christmas line. That's happening right now. So we've got white christmas a christmas store not niagara story prisons vacation and scrooge scrooge is my personal favorite not just for the film but for the as well and then for disney files we have a the little mermaid and also have love actually which can be considered a christmas candle..

"It sounds like the president elect teddy tough saturday when he was playing with his dog. Major joe biden slipped and suffered a hairline fracture in his mid foot according to his personal doctor. Dr kevin o'connor he said that he expects the president to be in a walking boot for several weeks. Meaning there's an outside. Chance will still be in at during the inauguration. But i guess it's kind of two months away at this point so who knows honestly i'm just glad you didn't do this during the campaign and all i mean. Can you imagine at fox news would have been like tucker. Carlson would have been interviewing anybody he could. Who would say that. This means that joe biden is dying like join me here tonight. Is bob smith. I mean we actually found at the gun section in walmart. Now bob does. This broken foot mean. The joe biden is actually suffering from a new form of dementia also. Isn't this transparency. Kind of weird. Like wait a minute. The president is supposed to be open and honest with the american people. Here she serves. I mean get out of here with that crazy. Talk on another note biden. Didn't stop over the weekend. And he added people to his communications team. Cape battlefield will serve as the white house communications director after she was his campaign calms director. So shifting over there jen. Psaki will serve as press secretary. Andy might recognize that name from her time on obama's comms team as the director. According to yahoo news. This means that four of the seven top communication roles at the white house will be filled by women of color. And it's the first time that the entire senior white house. Communications team will be entirely made of women. There were also a number of people porn into his team as well as komo harris's communications team you can find the full listing at the who source in the show notes in the description. There biden also announced that near tannin will be his director of the office of management and budget. She was the president and ceo of the liberal. Think tank center for american progress. This is actually turning into a weirdly divisive pick so far because the folks who identify as democratic socialists seem to not like her at all and republicans are already trying to make seem like a bad pick. I think time will tell in this one. How little turnout. But it's not like she's unqualified or anything like that. It's looking like maybe some of for old tweets in positions are a little bit controversial. So i wonder how much that will develop. However an msnbc today mike mentally had a great point about senate republicans let's take a listen and secondly and in case you know this better than anybody a lot of senate republicans who for some reason never seem to manage to see. President trump and his tweets are highlighting. A lot of attendance tweets as well this morning so this is a sign that they are ready. They are ready for a fight. If it comes to in wisconsin we powered through the holiday weekend. Inefficiently finished the presidential recount. That trump requested it was an absolute shocker. Joe biden still one dane county where madison is located reported a net gain of trouble. Please forty five votes for trump the county. That's home to milwaukee milwaukee county found a net gain of one hundred. Thirty two votes for joe biden. Meeting trump is now going to lose the state by eighty seven more votes than he was. Before in total joe biden one st by about twenty thousand six hundred votes. So what's next for these results. Well the certification deadline is on tuesday. The certification is performed by the chair of the wisconsin election commission who was a democrat. The group however is bipartisan. We'll see how that goes tomorrow. But i think it should be pretty clear especially since wisconsin's results don't even really mean anything in the grand scheme of things anymore. Trump has pledged of course to fight these in court which he said before the recount was even done because that makes sense he's fails in every case but one so far which didn't even mean anything. So i wouldn't be holding your breath in wisconsin. Either out of these contested states and there are big big air quotes around contested. Pennsylvania nevada georgia michigan and arizona as of today have already certified which will put biden over the to seventy mark when all the other state certify if you look up the current totals. The trump states have certified much faster than more democratic states like washington. New york california etcetera. So that's what. Trump has about one hundred sixty electoral votes. Compared to biden's i guess with arizona. It's up to like one. Sixteen one seventeen so joe has about one eighty nine one ninety somewhere in that range of electoral votes to be counted for him. Donald has just seventy two for star wars fans out there. We lost familiar name this weekend. David prowse proud was the physical actor for darth vader. In most of the original trilogy. James earl jones is of course the iconic voice of darth vader that they dubbed overprice. There's actually just a bit of footage out there that i found a proust on the set actually performing the lines. So let's take a listen to that. Finding the right voice for darth vader was another challenge. Lucas had never intended to use the onset. Vocal performance of david. Kraus talk the night. I can still hear david. Prowse's accent in the darth vader mask muffled because he would do the real dialogue trying to curse. Carrie fisher something now blackjack. Member of imperial senate on diplomatic. You are author grow. It was hilarious and terrifying at the same time. Because we didn't know what dr sound like. That was the first time we heard him is that it prowse's voice would later be replaced with a more menacing performance provided by classically trained stage and film actor james earl jones. I want to know what happened to the plans sent you. I don't know what you're talking about. I'm a member of the imperial senate on a diplomatic mission to alder on who a lot of a rebel lions. Take it away. Krause was actually a former bodybuilder. Who is six feet six inches tall. So he made darth vader a really intimidating figure. Interestingly enough he actually helped christopher reeve trained to become superman also pros would suffer from arth rightous in his later life so he spent a lot of time campaign to raise money for research into the disease in nineteen ninety nine. He was made a member of the order of the british empire by queen elizabeth the second for his services to charity and road safety road. Safety intimately haven't heard of that much as for his relationship with star wars over the years he enjoyed. Lucas always had sort of a weird relationship. That was on again off again. But georgia was gracious over the weekend and said in a statement that quote. He made darth vader leap off the page onto the big screen with an imposing stature in movement performance to match the intensity and undercurrent evaders presence mark hamill who played luke skywalker tweeted. That process was quote a kind man and much more than darth vader. In that he quote loved his fans as much as they loved him. End quote. so let's.

I was like many many many other folks that ended up in the short-term vacation rental industry an accidental rental Noor And seven years ago at a small little budding Real Estate Development Company in was renovating condos in Boston. Had this chunk of time on that I needed to get myself move to Dallas Texas and I was either going to eat three grand on an empty condo furnished. It was under agreement and I looked on craigslist and then listed on Airbnb for the first time to say whatever POPs up. We'll make a decision to see. Now I want to handle this short vacancy period and six thousand guests later I am probably one of you know they say expert is. Somebody's made all the mistakes. You can make a narrow field. I am an expert trial by fire and done a number of other things but responsibly. At this oriented Is My love and passion and we can go through the hell. We got there as well. But I I bleed short term rentals right now so you started in the trenches renting out your own property. Now do you still have multiple properties or are you kind of more just into the advocacy side of Ryan responsibly? Great Question I had the I would just call it. A an unreal moment almost sublime wear. I realized in when I turned one property. That's an act of short term rental. But I turned it over to a manager because I I was a longer going to be in Allison as somebody who was proximate to my properties. That distanced real remote management. Just didn't make comfortable so I found that local manager and I turn my phone off as the point of contact for the first time in seven years and I didn't realize I was even on duty for seven years straight. Yeah but I was in Nam. No longer on duty got somebody in between me and the property but still involve just in a different way awesome. I love it. So start from the trenches. Now too you know handing off the keys to somebody else. Now talk about how you got to rent responsibly. What was the I guess like? You said the Aha moment. The the sublime moment where. You're like this needs to happen. And what is rent responsibly? Because I think like you said when we were talking on the phone yesterday. This started last year like early. Two thousand are late. Two Thousand Nineteen pre-match beginning twenty twenty. Were you form Brent responsibly? So what is it? What was the moment that created it? And let's kind of dive into what the fine details are with. That sure will as a as I mentioned a moment ago as an accidental rental preneurs I think my entire career over the last seven years feels like a series of accidents that I just thought. Hey there's gotta be a better way to do this. Yeah and then when you discover there is not actually a better way to do something. I call that the donut hole in the universe. Right like you got all this stuff. But there's a big hole right in the middle that you need to fill and so in both cases In both being the the company I started in between being a host in response called noise. Aware my co-founder Andrew. Andrew Schultz and I took on the challenge of solving annoys issues in noise nuisance issues which is obviously a proxy for parties. Yeah oftentimes in in the I'll just take it in a chronological order as quickly as I can But you know as a host you run into problems and when I started my hosting journey most of property management software systems didn't exist yet most pricing tools didn't exist I invariably the tools are better now one. Such tool. That didn't exist. Was anything to deal with noise. Nuisance Route Privacy safe noise management and so we built the first one but it in my unit turned it into a small business. It's now thriving and in doing fantastically well But speeding along rent responsibly. In that noise management product development cycle. We realize that short-term owners managers in host have myriad problems that there are tools for art tools for or they just hacked. You know something together that works for them and in many many cases been number one problem that we that I discovered that our customers at that point had was in City in regulatory relations You could argue that. The entire industry the entire space in our community. That is our number one problem. Yeah AIRBNB CONSTANTLY. Said they were going to go public. And then you look on the list of reasons they didn't end regulation in the regulatory environment was always Either a warner one one B right. Yeah so I just look at this space of. How do we manage internally in the industry right the concepts of what are the rules would have standards? What are the expectations of everybody in our community? 'cause we're tied together. We are with one wide brush when it comes down to it in the media and then from the city perspective you know. We can't rely cities to innovate their way into a reasonable and sustainable rules. Regulations that being Frederick it in the premises Last year in September. I graduated from a fulltime job at at at noise aware after four years. I'm still still on the board there but I said you know this regulatory situation and.
