David Archer previews the Atlanta Falcons

"The Atlanta Falcons will do so with a former Falcons quarterback. Now he is their longtime color analysts on the radio network for Atlanta. And that is David Archer. David Hope all is. Well. Thanks for doing this. When we look at the Falcons, they made a big offseason acquisition getting Todd Gurley We don't know where the health is of Todd Gurley. What do you expect at a Todd Gurley coming over from l. A to Atlanta for this upcoming season? Well, be honest with you. I think we're expecting a lot of early and mainly in the Red zone. If you look at Todd Gurley's numbers, even with with so called quote unquote down near Around 900 yards rushing, still had 12 touchdowns. All 12 of those touchdowns came in the red Zone, and I think that Atlanta if they could find a way to run the football down close Help three up the talented weapons that Ryan has on the perimeter. Now, listen, you have a little bit more of a potent attack a little bit more looking a little bit more like what? You looked like a 16 when Avante Freeman and Tevin Coleman. We're carrying the ball down there close and created that problem in the run game. Atlanta has not had that over the last couple of seasons. I think that's where they expect Todd Gurley to make his main hey is down there in the red Zone. With the way that you probably have to manage his reps as a running back the rest of the running back room. Is there something that jumps out to you? Yeah, I think it's a good group. Really Do I think that when you look at Brian, Ill in the way, Brian Gillis Kamani together that Hawkins drafted a couple of years ago, Brian Handsome solid moments a year ago. Quadri Allyson. Kid at Pittsburgh rookie from a year ago. Uh, kind of woke himself. A little bit of a roll is a short yardage guy. £225 Goal line Guy, four touchdowns. Hopefully, you know, Smith can come back. He was injured in the game a year ago. I believe against the Rams in which he was trying to pick up a Blitzer, which he shouldn't be here should be doing, but he is an outstanding receiver out of the backfield. And a good change of pace back at the back, So they get to three young guys that I think you could lean on. And like you said, Take some of that. Load off. Assad, Girl. Let's get to the next down. And when we do so, we take a look at Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. The two big names in that organization. Do you still believe that this team could be a play off team once again with Matt Ryan and Julio Jones? I do, but it's you know, obviously, it's about you know your supporting cast and you do some things on the other side of the ball, and I'm sure there's a question you've got to worry about the defense's side the football, But there there's a little area in the offensive line. The left guard has been a little bit leaky, right guard's been a little bit leaky because of some injuries and things that they could shore up that into your part of the offensive line. Ryan's Like most classic quarterbacks climb in the pocket. They got to be able to give him that opportunity. Do so if you get into your pressure and accurate from problems, one game will help in that regard, but Yeah. Julio Jones, 16 seconds, 1300 yard seasons. Matt Ryan, nine consecutive 4000 yard seasons. I don't see the one those guys backing off. When you talk about that offensive line to follow up on that I'm a big fan of Matt Hennessy. Being a temple grad, really smart football player puts in a lot of work. Is he going to make an immediate impact in your number one? Yeah, There's always a question that he's certainly in the mix to be the starting guard. There's no question about that. I think that there's ah lot excitement around when he brings the table and and obviously the heir apparent, Alex Mack, probably its center. So Alex back in a little bit longer to still have a good football any But I need to put some guys around him that Khun taken, it could be in there and we had German Brown and James Carpenter guys that could not stay on the field. There was some solid moments from those two big veteran players, but they did not stay on the field and consistency. In the interior specialist that left guard spotted Kennedy ultimately will probably win that job and be the starter that guard let's get to the next down. All right, David Archer. When they flip the switch here and go to the other side of the ball defensively, it was an up and down year for the defense, but it seemed like they did finish in a better spot than what they did earlier on in the season. You could probably say that for the entire team with the Atlanta Falcons this division. Is loaded with offensive talent. You know what the Saints are. Now you have Tom Brady and the division with Tampa Bay, and I'll be curious to see what Teddy Bridgewater does with the Panthers. What's your read on the Falcons defense entering 2020 Well, it's an uncertain situation obviously went on God. Dante Fowler, Dad's pressure off the edge contact. McKinley realized what they thought they had when they drafted him a couple of years and the number one spot picked up Charles Haley, who, ironically, was in the same draft. And raided a route the same attack McKinley are Charles Harris. I'm sorry. Charles. Charles Charles Haley. Right way. I'd like to have the guy that was rushing the pastor there for both the Cowboys in the 40 Niners. That would be great, but Harris. He does have some raw talent there. Can't he realize that I'm the Falcon Tutelage will have to wait and see Grady dear. It's an emerging star in the tackle position and Marlon Davidson, Vienna and an interesting ad, a guy that has the versatility to play inside. Maybe in past situations and also play the perimeter as a 34 defensive didn't run down situations. The answer at all Burn second round draft pick of the fact that they think they've upgraded their defensive line. It'll have to be upgraded because you get extremely young secondary. Probably gonna have a rookie a corner starting your nickels, a second year guy in your other corners of third year, guys, So there's a lot of young players on the perimeter need to get some pass rush speed up the thought process for the quarterback. Let's get to the final down. Alright. I'm surprised that Dan Quinn is Bacca's the head football coach for the Lancer Falcons. What does he have to do this year to keep his job and Is that seats the warm because, like I said, I was surprised that they brought him back for this year. It is warm. I think that it's fortunate they brought him back because of the current situation with the pandemic and the uncertainties, so some continuity certainly has played into Atlanta Falcons off season. I think they've had a solid offseason, much as you can, with the limitations. They're attached to this year, So I think that it was good in retrospect that, uh, Mr Black decided to keep Dan Quint on, but I think he's got there. They've got a bit pushed for a playoff spot. I think they've got to be. They can't come out of the box one in seven. It's got to be a team. It's in the hunt of the entire way. As you said, it's going to be outstanding division with outstanding quarterback play, but they have to be in the hunt to be a part of the postseason play. If they do that. And I think the fans will be a little bit of stab on the wound for the fans. But if you get out to a slow start, it would not surprise me. If if Mr Blank made some kind of decision mid season on coach Boy and I think, coach when is the right guy for the job Now it's put up or shut up. He scored a touchdown will go for two here Oscar. One more question This team was 11 5 We all know the deal they were in the Super Bowl blew the 28 23 lead. The next year, they did go 10 and six, the last two years. It's seven and nine. If you had to identify the biggest reason why this team has regressed, and I know they've had some injuries to but overall if it's not the health of the team, what's the biggest thing that you look at? Why this team wasn't able to recreate that magic from 2016 and 2017? I think their inconsistency ball on both sides of the football in conversion, down situations and in the red zone. I think Atlanta's done a great job of moving the ball from 20 to 20 But when they get in the red zone, they bogged down and settle for too many threes. And I think in turn the defense's side of the football. What about 22 23 scoring defense coming up 25 points a game. They've got to find a way to get more stops in the red zone. That's probably the answer that you could probably get from all teams struggled and not made the playoff teams, but I certainly think That that's identifiable with the Falcons over the last couple years, the inability down deep in the red Zone both on offensive defense, Julio Jones, he's Ah Hall of Fame player. We all know that one of the better wide receivers in the league He's only had one year of double digit touchdowns, going back to 2012 when he had 10 TUC maybe 10 touchdowns in his fortunes this year. Well, I think he's certainly capable of it. But you got an outstanding receiver on the other side of Calvin Ridley, who's realized his abilities down in the red Zone Pretty close. I think Aidan hearse is going to be a seamless transition from Austin Hooper tight end spot So there are a lot of weapons from that Ryan to get the football too. Don't forget Todd Gurley and how good he is at the back catching the football as well. So I I would say no, I think he's going to be 89 touchdowns. I don't think he goes double digits, but I think there's a lot of guys around him. They're going to score touchdowns. Look for guys somewhere between 13 14 guys catch touchdown passes issue. Say that we appreciate it. Thanks so much. You be well, my

J.Crew Files For Bankruptcy. More Retailers Are Expected To Follow

"When J crew filed for bankruptcy yesterday it got a lot of attention in part. Because it's the first major retailer to fall prey to this pandemic. The company was forced to close five hundred stores and furlough all but two thousand of its thirteen thousand employees but this might not be the end. Other companies are very likely to go under in these times. And let's turn to David Wessel director of the Hutchins Center at Brookings Institution. David Hope you're well good morning so talk to me about J. crew going to bankruptcy court and what what exactly the company is going to be experiencing here well when a company files for protection of the Bankruptcy Court under chapter eleven of the law. It's allowed to not pay its debts. So it can continue to operate in business in the case of J. Crew which also owns a company called made. Well it worked out a deal with its creditors before it went to court. People who'd lent the company nearly two billion dollars essentially get control the company squeezing out to shareholders. Then it borrows more money about four hundred million dollars so we can keep going It's online businesses functioning. And it's planning to open. At least some of its stores. When the Corona virus receives the whole point of chapter eleven is to allow a debt laden company to reorganize and and stay in business. So is this an option that other retailers other companies are going to follow. We're GONNA see more. Companies seeking protection absolutely. American businesses borrowed a lot of money fifteen trillion dollars by one recent estimate when times were good. Many of them are going to have trouble keeping up the payment. It's hard to stay current on your debt when your revenues drive up. Gold's gym filed for bankruptcy this week already the Wall Street Journal says that both Neiman Marcus and JC. Penney have missed some interest payments. And they're talking to lenders about a bankruptcy filing hurts. The car rental company has hired advisors and in the oil and gas industry. Low Oil prices are pushing a lot of the little companies towards the bankruptcy court as well. David you've talked on a program about the hundreds of billions of dollars that Congress approve to try and help small businesses. Wasn't that supposed to try and avoid this. It was and all that aid is GONNA keep some companies out of bankruptcy. But it's not enough for all of them particularly that were already kind of over-borrowed before the corona virus hit and the problem here is this is going to overwhelm the bankruptcy courts. And that's going to have unfortunate side effects. Some companies are going to have trouble finding the money you need to borrow temporarily to keep going while you're in bankruptcy and history suggests when they're lots of business bankruptcies as I expect there will be. The courts tend to put their attention on reorganizing. The big ones and that means little people a little companies had filed for bankruptcy just end up liquidated they sell off their assets with the court supervision and essentially go out of business. What other options out there David to to try and save a company in these times? Well the best option. Of course we'll get the economy going when the virus receipt so they can start selling again. Joe Stiglitz Nobel laureate suggests a super chapter eleven kind of one size fits all plan. David scale a law professor at Paneth suggested that Congress legislate a moratorium on debt payments giving companies and even some families the immediate benefits of bankruptcy without having go through the court and Peter or Zag was the White House budget director in the Obama administration says that because bankruptcy can have such a big effect on suppliers. He suggests government lending to what he calls firms that are two connected to fail doing. Essentially what the government did for GM and Chrysler during the great recession? But none of this is painless. That that is that is true. As we know. David Wessel from the Hutchins Center Brookings. Thanks so much you're

"Agree with them. Releasing Cam Newton. But they did that. every franchise. We'll do that whether both parties agreed mutual separation or just comes about it the way it does however each team evaluates in one a new team when a new organization has a new owner and then eventually gets a new head. Coach transitions happen in each coach and owner? They want their guys whether people like it or not. That's just the way business. Goes you feel more comfortable. And you take the wins and unfortunately lumps of losses a little bit better when you have guys that she feel more comfortable with. That's wrong or indifferent that's just the way it is when you're talking about millions and billions of dollars in other men's Egos and perspective and I don't I as a player I didn't necessarily agree with and I didn't see it that way but now obviously has gotten older and seeing a lot of how things have transpired through the back through the channels of what's way businesses done in football and being a businessman or attempting to be a businessman like myself. I can respect not always agree. Respect the way things are done and understand that. Sometimes when money's involved egos things are gonNA get messy is teddy bridgewater a franchise quarterback. They picked him up in free agency and I look at free agency as a quick fix duct tape. That's for Free Agency is the draft is about getting long-term Acquisitions you do your homework. You do your you. You CHECK THEIR SOCIAL. You get their social security number. You get all of their information. That's what the draft is. Free Agency is it is really is. You're just far on someone for that amount of time. And then you get the guy that you want to draft or maybe to free agency ED or trade for young player. That's how you free agency and Teddy Bridgewater Ormat role in the Carolina. Panthers that's their guy for right now I think your take on. Espn RADIO THE ESPN APP. Espn news. I'm Jason Fitz. I think the panthers at one of the more compelling teams to look at right now trying to figure out what they do moving forward the shutdown obviously in the lack communication makes things difficult for Matt Rule and obviously they rebuild the organization but also how are they rebuilding the organization. What's the approach especially going into the draft where they have a high a high draft pick? What's their approach in looking impact versus looking at trades versus? Looking at how they're going to build. So what we like to do here. Espn radio presented by Progressive Insurance Progressive. Homequote explorer gives you multiple quote options. So you can pick what's right for you see for yourself of course dot com. We like to be a little progressive and take the QB continued series a step further and by by getting somebody to come on. That's an expert that can give us the current thoughts on all things panthers so ESPN Panthers reporter David. Newton joins us. David Hope you guys are safe and well and everybody's great. Thank you so much for taking the time. When you look at the approach for the panthers coming into this draft I mean we know the deal for Christian McCaffrey. We know Teddy Bridgewater. Are they viewing teddy bridgewater as the franchise quarterback that they're going to build around or they still looking for that? I came along where you said. Teddy Bridgewater as a quarterback or now I mean you look at it. He's got three or deal. The first two years A fairly team friendly but then that third year they're har we're teddy friendly but the third year you know the team wanted to get out of it and they could do that without you know. Really hurting them As far as just the salary cap so I totally ruled out that if the right quarterback with phone number seven did they would take a fire on that and say say say fell that far and you know to in these a year to still sit out and make sure he's completely healthy. I mean bridgewater. Be a pretty good person to the learn behind Yeah he's a generational type player. Bridgewater you kind of know what you got. He's he's solid. He's not spectacular. They were used to. It can't but he is solid and a guy that they can depend on but are they gonNA depend on him long term. I don't know that but I I just don't think they're going to build around in as much as they're going to build more around Christian McCaffrey and what he can do. Because that's why they're going to have the long term deal To kinda build around him and everything he's all about as far as Volta Dimensional player we're talking to ESPN panthers reporter. David Newton I take your take ESPN radio. I'm Jason Fitz. That's interesting to me. David because Christian McCaffrey you talk about having the seventh overall pick. How could they best use that to help Christian McCaffrey while they spent most of their free agency trying to do things to help Christian McCaffrey they? They got Russell. Welcome to come play. Tackle that's GONNA help him. It's GONNA help Teddy Bridgewater short-term because this is the last year of his deal and he's getting up there in Hey But they've got a couple of left tackle in the in the fold right now. They wanted to up. They think can can be that long term got Robbie Anderson from the jets. That's another player that they feel like it had mentioned that offense. Would that'll help McCaffrey where he doesn't have to do as much I think they're going to spend most of this draft onto defense. They didn't pay a lot of tension to that in the draft. They've got some it'll help but most of those are one or two. Your deals guys that are in. There just wanted to bridge the gap so to speak so I mean if they have the right defensive tackles was there and they're gonna be your defensive tackle. There I mean a lot of my Derrick Brooks There and I still got brown hair. And they don't want him to have a lot of interest in the in South Carolina. Kim Loss choice there and who knows even a guy like Isaiah? Feminism Clemson could ball and he can play as that Sweeney told him that improving Clinton. He said that's why getting three first round draft picks and all the positions. He can play. So He's the guy they could. They probably be able to fit right in. My rule likes the guy that he calls the position player where he's not defined by physician and the. Guy Likes Simmons would would be sad so I think they could set themselves up. They don't have to take a specific player Pacific position right now the draft. If there's somebody there. That kind of intrigues them. Where they say that we're in pretty good shape that Kinda build From where they are right. Now I think I think the plan so forth pretty good office could be competitive with anybody The defense right NARA. Thanks got still a lot of questions I take your take on. Espn RADIO WE'RE TALKING TO ESPN. Panthers reporter David Dayton. We've talked a lot about matt rule and trying to figure out what the identity for coach is. GonNa look like in the NFL coming away from Baylor defensively. What is their approach and plan for an identity? Looks like they're gonNA Kinda go back to more based four three. They switched over from four three two three four last year. Underrun reveal whether they identified strictly that they WANNA play a lot of multiple fronts and the caver for what Matt Rule wants to do. What you know still snow their defensive coordinator instead they WANNA be fast and get to the ball and very aggressive. So that's why they got shot constant outside linebacker play cow summers. They re signed him to a long term deal at the end of the season. And he's a guy that can play all over the place about several other players. That can do that. So they're gonNA build around speed and aggressiveness right now. Defense and just go after it right there so I I don't know if they're gonNA depend as much on this big bodies in the middle of a pretty good one coming back this year and K on short who missed last year with a you with a shoulder injury. I think David any panthers fan would absolutely be furious with us. If we didn't at least address and talk about the Christian McCaffrey contracting as you get into the draft and look at it and mean much has been made about his production but that production hasn't always equalled winds so given what they've given a Christian McCaffrey to come in and be with the team long-term how do they translate that production into more wins. Well first of all you got to have a defense a gives you can't stop. Anybody doesn't matter what Christian McCaffrey does. And the last couple of years they really have a hat on solid defense and as a quarterback play has got to be solid two and the last two years cam uses I the shoulder injury then. The foot injuries he. He's really been A. That's been a key spot so I think getting bridgewater in their battle. Solidify that part. That's going to help McCaffrey. And held the offense in general because they last year particularly they would depending on totally unproven players. That should help them. I really liked the deal. They made with him. I know the surface is What the highest paid running back in? Nfl history sixteen million dollars a year with the extension. But if you look at it over it's going to go over six years now four years 'cause including this year and next year which would have been the fifth year option so you spread it all out over six years. It's really only twelve and a half million dollars a year and that's pretty good deal for a guy that does all Christian. Mccaffrey any any chance in your mind that this team. That's basically going to put this season off to the side and try and find a way to get themselves to you know as we all hear the tank for Trevor. Now will be the big thing try and get themselves into a Trevor Lawrence type situation next year. It's hard to predict. You can actually get the win. Total two trevor. I think if they if they knew they could go into the tank and get trevor. Yeah but you'RE GONNA be bad too out there so I don't think they've completely given up on this season at all wrote to this morning. How Matt Rule has kind of that? He got with that one year with giants. From Jerry Reese or former. Gm where you kind of put yourself in position by the middle of the season or to end the number to make a run at the play offs and then if you do that make the Super Bowl if you remember that kind of what they did. The giants did back in two thousand eleven. They were six six at one point and then got hot into the season and got the Super Bowl and beat the Patriots. And and that was what rule was coming into that situation when he was there so. I think if you look what they've done a pencil as you know like they can be competitive and they feel like they got a couple of good pieces on some draft. They can raise that level where they could be competitive. I don't think they could get to the point where they can be a serious playoff contender. But we've seen in the past Kansas. You have low expectations of surprise and this league you just never know can follow him on twitter at D. Newton. Espn David Newton. David has always man. We appreciate your insight. Thank you so much for the time and hope you guys stay safe. Same View. I David makes a great point there because Look in my mind. The panthers are too good to be too bad. I mean Christian. Mccaffrey is going to make them good enough to win. A lot of football game so tanking isn't in the for them. The most interesting thing about the draft to me is their placement. You'RE GONNA find out a lot about what they think at quarterback when they're picking where they are because if you're looking at seven th pick in the first round of the draft. You're looking at the opportunity to get a tremendous impact player. But you're also looking just enough there. Did they could try and move up. If they want to try to move up for quarterback they could try and move down if they if they're more interested in accumulating so you get a real sense of what they actually think of. Teddy Bridgewater Bridgewater contract could either be viewed as taking a chance on a future franchise quarterback or it can be viewed as bridging the gap until. You actually find you. Got The money to Christian McCaffrey to me is as much about the production as much about the ability to give you results on the field as it is about giving you a reason to be relevant. I mean Christian. Mccaffrey is GONNA keep butts in the seats. He's going to make this team relevant. And that does matter at some level. So if you're the panthers who by the way picking at seven..

Games was racing video games. Played pretty much all bracing video games up through the eighties. The Ninety S and two thousand dollars so when I finally got my own car and realized hey I also like in real life. I quickly made up for lost time. I got in a race car two years after I got my license found. That was a lot of fun. Spend a couple of years just honing my skills that the local track and then the jump straight onto a track to get to the twenty dollars of law. I had long had a racing idol. The Guy Hooves one to twenty four hours of Lamont. The most most time in history nine times is a man named Tom. Kristensen was a day. Why watched win his first race? I think it was ninety nine or ninety seven and then just dominate that race through the two thousand and there's just something uniquely appealing about seeing your countrymen be able to do that. Denmark is as a small country. We're what five and a half million people there on sort of that many disciplines where you see just a bunch of Danes kicking ass right simply. That's just the math of the fact that like five million people I mean Chicago is twice the size of that. If you take the greatest Chicagoland area right and there aren't exactly just like tons of people from the greatest Chicagoland area who's internationally renowned race car drivers so the fact that there was this Dane Tom Kristensen who dominating this race which I thought was the most interesting appealing race in the world. World really wasn't inspiration so when I finally got to the point where hey happen driver's license. I'd had a taste of radio driving. I had the funds to do it because just let's be honest. I mean the only way you're getting to the twenty years of Lama as a racecar driver who started in their mid twenties. And we're trying to go professional is by you. You spend a lot of money so it required sort of a number of factors to be present than one of those factors was to have a business that was doing well enough that I could pay for that show. Oh so all those things came together and then two thousand twelve. I did twenty four hours of a mall for the first time. A knife done the race. Eight Times I've wanted in class once. I've been on the podium four times on the overall podium. I've been disqualified I've had my engine blow up in the middle of the night of the whole thing but Racing has it's just been for the past. Let's say ten twelve years a major part of my life in terms of a serious hobby outside of work. The really had nothing to to do with work. And this is one of those things. We've been big APP at base camp in one of the foundational ideas behind. It doesn't have to be crazy at work is that you can be more than one thing. You're not the fine by what you do for money right now. You're not defined by what your job is and you're actually better off if you don't let your job to find you you're better off if you to constrain your job to being example forty hours a week as we advocate in the book because then you have nights and weekends free. If I hadn't taken a a couple of years of spending every Saturday and Sunday at track no I wouldn't have become Skilled enough to drive a race car that I could compete at the twenty dollars. Salama and that has been the same factor in in other aspects of of my life and even more satisfying in many regards. The lives of everyone who works with me at Base Camp Camp. We're not just about that one thing. I'm not interested in just being the world's best programmer. The world's best business person that is is that level of specialization. Allies station has just zero.

"Ask The poll question of David Cone <hes> the rich Eisen Show poll question brought to you by man versus food on cooking channel Christopher. What do you have over there? David which current Major League player has the best chance to the unanimous hall of Famer. Someday Mike Trout Albert Pool Halls Clayton Kershaw Miguel Cabrera. I really believe it's my trout. I think universally people just realize that what he's doing is Mickey Mantle like you talk to your father or your grandfather and you say the the way they talk with reverence about Mickey Mantle and the greatest player ever saw or Willie mays in that category that's by trout. I mean everybody universally agrees with that and the other guys that you mentioned are all very deserving. I'm not sure there's venomous elections. Although it will be interesting in the future now that Mariano Rivera's broken that barrier to whether you know maybe the floodgates will open. Maybe we'll start to see more unanimous selections now that Mariana was the first and you know that to me that that's going to be an interesting watch but if you're comparing all those layers Mike Trout to me just stands head and shoulders above because he's a total ballplayer bache running defense homers average average <hes> all the way around <hes> the basis e Pete's he beat you and so many different ways. It's not one facet of the game that by Child Does Not Excel David. I gotTa tell you if there's one word to describe this. <hes> this interview I would say it savage. This was a savage interview right here. I love that t shirts are being made up now. They're savages in the box man that was that was something hey I've been texting with them but I'm sure you've been speaking with them or or or I don't know if he's speaking at all but send k. our best okay he's. Thanks for having me on you. Bet That's David Cone decode thirty six at decode thirty. He's never heard of savage edges in the box. These never heard that phrase before that t shirt is going to sell like hotcakes. David Cone was playing baseball probably when he was three. He's never even heard that man the giants. They have a serious conversation right now. He's I mean they. They've won nine of ten. They've won six in a row. They've got a hall of fame manager Bruce Bocce. He's already said he's hanging them up. Do they trade their future hall of Famer and Madison Bumgarner right now for the long term or do they hold on him run this thing out make the playoffs and see what can happen and boches final year. That is a big decision because I am sure Yanni's Red Sox. I'm sure even the as are out of the question because they're not gonna do anything across town but you know they're always aggressive would houston do anything would Washington step up lots of questions right there. Would anyone in the N._F._l.. Central I I would think they'd have to send him to another league..

"Those really fun chat with will end David hope you enjoyed it and consider checking out there show. So it's a conversation a little long. We're just gonna do one quick paleo pal from me before heading out for the day. And let's see. I have an Email from Susan kind of an older Email, but it actually responds to something we talked about in the episode just now. So I thought it was an appropriate one to read here. First of all, if you don't remember very long time ago, we had a conversation about why you never see people going to the bathroom in particular number two in movies, and my argument at the time. And I guess still is that it is not a thing you see because it is not typically relevant to forwarding the narrative, you know, maybe like a dumb and dumber exception there. But most of the time, the day-to-day bodily functions aren't represented in stories because they're not pertinent to the story. Same way you rarely see characters actually eating food on film because all. Eating food on film doesn't look cool unless you're Brad Pitt. So the Email from Susan, she thanks for asking a previous question and says, but Ryan, you and I are going to fight fording the narrative. We don't see our here humans, defecating stories because we know that they do. They are like us. They are species that we know nothing about save what is written about them. You have no more proof that they do delegate than I have proof that they don't. So she disagrees with me quite vehemently on that front and I'll just I'll leave it there. I don't think we need to discuss that any further. Secondly, in terms of teaching creationism in school, I'm with you guys. It's bad idea. My husband is an elementary school teacher and where we will lose this fight is in the curriculum. When the schools put standardized testing in place. My husband's job went from educating young minds to help them pass the test. My husband does not teach evolution because it is not on the test. Every time he spends teaching something that isn't on the tests. He runs the risk of lower test scores, which means less funding for the school and less privileges for the students at his school. There's already know recess and a forty five minute lunch and me Ryan. I just wanna remind you that. We're talking about an elementary school here. My husband hates it, but he isn't given a choice. Creationism was put on the standardized tests. I promise you teachers all over the country. We'll start teaching it and who creates the test. We don't know. He's not even supposed to ask if Tennessee can get creationism on the test as a quote, unquote weakness or whatever that is what will be taught. Just my thoughts on it. Keep up the great work Susan. So couple things in there. I actually think that's a really interesting point because that speaks to the power of standardized testing and how teachers don't really get to design the curriculum around what they do or don't believe in the first place. And so we talked a little bit about what people believe in the interview with will and David. But here, Susan kind of the point that that's not really super relevant when it's just about teaching to the test, which is frustrating for a lot of reasons. And I think this is another angle for why that is maybe not a great way to do public education, and I also didn't know the thing about not being allowed to ask who makes the tests. That's a really interesting point. I understand the need for secrecy. If you want to standardize the test and you have to keep. Parts of it hidden. I guess the more the system is the harder it is for people to figure out how to game not the seasons. Husband would try to game, but there are always bad actors every system who will try to take advantage of things if they can. So that's really interesting. I would love to hear from other teachers about similar experiences with the standardized testing world. Have things changed in the past few years since this Email was sent what's kind of the situation there. So if you were a teacher or recently experienced the wonderful world of standardized testing, maybe right in and contribute your thoughts on that topic? No, patriots this week because I am so low, but if you would like to get your own SO bachelor of science sort of you can go to patriot dot com slash science sort of sign up for the Godhra army level or higher and without. I think that's all we have for this week. So thanks for listening. Go check out the show for this episode.
