"Over. Twenty twenty has been the most awful year ever. you know. i just can't wait for twenty twenty one and now we're finally here but before we take that bold step into the future. We've gotta take one step backwards one more time. We're dipping back in one last time before we move on to twenty twenty because despite all the bullshit that we went through this year there actually was some really really damn good albums that came out. Yeah and i posted on facebook the other day that you know like the i. I came up with around eighty albums. That were You know that. I considered you know attention worthy to look into and then i broke that down to thirty five saul you know thirty five albums that i really liked and then narrowed it down to the top fifteen and as i know you did as well. There was a ton of great stuff released last year. I don't even feel like. I've even scratched the surface. I mean 'cause if you came up with that kind of list my list was probably half of that and then whittled it down but as always this time of year we do this episode at the end of the year every year where we look back and pick out our favorite albums that came out that year. And you know it's it's kinda cool because it's an adventure for me. Because not only. Do i got the handful of ones that i know. I love the ones that i went out and bought on the day they came out you know and the ones that i was so happy with but also it's a chance for discovery too because i actually go back and i know you do the same thing go back through and say what did we miss. You know what's out there that we didn't catch this year. I don't want nothing to slip. Pass me and actually got a few debut albums from new bands that i'd never even heard of before that we're gonna talk about here today. We got all kinds of good stuff for you. Yeah there's there is the whole gamut of stuff released last year you've got you know classic bands that we all grew up on releasing new stuff. You got supergroup. You've got new bands. You've all kind of solo albums from certain artists and Man there's a ton of stuff in you know. We'll we'll go through as mitch as much as we can You know there's some great music for you so yeah there's a lot to cover so let's get it on well before we get to it. You know us. We take care of that business. We'll do it real quick because we got a lot albums to talk about fifteen piece. So let's take care of that business right now and our business is reviews. Podcast reviews yeah. We like them from apple like him from facebook. We like from pie chaser and anywhere else. You can think of that. You can leave your boys. The desk geek podcasts. A sweet sweet review. We sure do appreciate it. We appreciate it so much that every single week. We're gonna read them on the show when they're really good and we've got a couple of really really good ones here today. Let's start off with an apple. Podcast review this one's five stars and it's hot and it's fresh because it's talking about the best and worst of seventies judas priest. That was fun. Yes sure was gosal some like this loved. The judas priest episode. I have to listen to every one of those albums very soon. I also have a hard time picking anything off those albums. I don't like great episode of the best music. Podcasts out there for sure loved hearing some music clips in there to always makes my commute so much better keep up the great work guys and that comes to us from paul smith. It's an apple. Podcast review five stars. Only nice appreciate that and thanks to julian gil for being a part of that episode. He was great contributor to it. Yeah he was. I really enjoyed talking to him. Man blew my mind when he talked about flip flop in the album around. You know how side be should. Actually it makes so much sense. And that it's a concept record. I never. I'll never hear that that. I'll stained class at the same way again. I'll never listened to side a first ever four. Neither all right. That's cool man. Yeah so much fun last week. Love that early judas priest we got one more. If you got the time. I got the ability. Let's read it right here. Oh my goodness. It's a facebook recommendation. We haven't had one of these in a while. it's been a few months. Let's a good one. And it comes to us from stephen gallen very and he recommends the desk geek podcast. Because chris and aaron are knowledgeable hosts they know all deep cuts of the bands that i grew up with and love. Great show with interesting guests and topics rock and ron is the best mascot ever and he brings his own liquor to the party. A sure does great show been trying to catch up on some of the older episodes. That's an awesome dacian right there. Thank you steven for taking the time to do that for us. Thank you paul. For your awesome apple. Podcast review gays kick ass. We appreciate you very much guys. Wanna leave us a review somewhere and here read on the show. Give them all the stars. Facebook apple podcasts pod. Chaser you name. It will read it. Yeah thanks for those and keep them coming. And wow i didn't realize rock. And ron was a mascot. But he's right up there with the san diego chicken in my book. He's all alright. God oh man another way you can help us out every time we release an episode such as the one. You're about to hear today. We always make the official announcement on twitter or on facebook. If you re tweet that original tweet if you share that original facebook post and we see it on there we say. Oh there's your name your amongst the many the many awesome people that love this show they share it. They re tweet it and they become honorary geeks of the week. Luik this week. Or adam. cox ralph era. Kristen shimbun john phillips david glenn simon cat keith raw for jobs to capone bill mike cornell jeffrey mendenhall sit and spin with joe the bakery podcast aaron baker nuala vargo. Tom smoke bobby. Valentine army jeff taylor doug fox josh hamilton in obscurity podcast. Hockberg stott kiss. Faq allen. The sean marvin carter. Jj mcelhinney northern vet. Halen sean. Cullen audio is always the food or do we nail it. Probably not as close as we've ever come. Yeah hey tom. smoke is back. that's awesome. I've been watching for him on the backs. Milk cartons have you. That's cool awesome. Names come up and they come and go all friends longtime friends new friends. we appreciate. Y'all thanks to everybody. That sports the decibel geek podcasts. We've each got fifteen albums man. we'd better get to it. Yeah there's a lot to go through here so i yeah. Why don't you go ahead and start us out all right so My number fifteen or a record of twenty twenty is tyler bryant and the shakedowns pressure. Know much about this banner. What i do know is that. I've heard good things about him. People that are in our desperately geek. Community have been talking about this band I went ahead and check them out earlier in the year and thought they were pretty good Do to hell of a guitar player. I really don't know a lot about them. Well they Started out in. Two thousand nine tyler. Put the band together at the age of sixteen. So he's kind of like a teenage virtuoso. Formed here nashville. i'll cool. I do not know that yup and the lineup currently consists of tyler bryant lead guitar and vocals and needed do based on the new. So there between bass players graham whitford and caleb crosby and graham whitford sounds familiar yes. He is the son of brad. Whitford era okay. Right on so a lot of talent in this band They recorded this record in tyler basement during the lockdown and he was gonna do it as He was gonna do a song and then that turned into an ep. And next thing you knew he had a whole record put together. So it's a it's an and that was kind of our wish earlier this last year when all this stuff started was i wonder how much material is gonna come out of this and we're already seeing the fruit of that Previous releases of this ban had kind of a sameness to them for me but This album had a lot more diversity on it and showed some growth in in our good buddy de hud. He's he loves this ban and he's always been pushing me to get into and The that kinda changed twenty twenty. I got more into him. So yeah but like the.

"The co-hosts along with their honest holds no-holds-barred opinions are more than enough reason to give them a listen the running jokes and call backs to earlier conversations never failed to amuse me I love these guys and you should too but you can't love them before you like him. So get started now you've got some catching up to do. And that comes to us from Paul Corn and it's fucking awesome. We'll speak callback backs. Here's vinnie Vincent's musical output for this week. Long. I love stuff like that, and you know makes that really cool is that because Paul corn is such an old school listener that came in way back in two thousand twelve when we're doing our inside jokes I know that there's always a handful of people that get it. There's always a ton of people that don't have no idea what the fuck we're talking about but there's always that special handful of people that'll remember that throwback joke to episode one, hundred, eight or something like that. It's cool to have people that have been on board that far back like Paul and we'd love all you new listeners to hear from you as well. But. It's great to it's great to have such a almost a decade behind us now is really hard to fucking believe. So as awesome as at is would sweet sweet facebook recommendation from are awesome. Old School good brother Paul Corn. I also had kind of gathered up a couple of comments that we had about last week's episode. When we went on the ebay treasure hunt that I thought were pretty cool I got one from Scott Smith and this one was a reminder of how you know you and I were week to week. You know we're always thinking about the next thing we're never thinking about you know two three, four episodes back. We're always on the move but what you don't think about when you're doing a podcast is at a lot of people will do. The Binge listen you know where they'll list do a whole bunch of them get caught up stopped for awhile and then start again and get caught up again we got a cool message from Scott Smith on the facebook that said listening to episode three ninety of Decibel. Geek podcasts from earlier this year while working around the House Chris in Zach and Erin Camaro I nearly died laughing at your comments on David Lee Roth, first night of the Vegas residency and Van Halen I had completely forgotten about that and I had to until he mentioned it. I don't even remember what I said, but I'm. Saying. You were Silver Sassou about David Lee. Roth. But it was damn. Funny. Well, he's had a fucking terrible patio footage. Yeah he sure did. We got another one from Angie Jacob said, got a birthday. Shout on my favorite rock and metal podcast between that and half of four eleven reunion and not having vid fiftieth birthday week was pretty fucking good. I liked to hear that. And then I gotta say we talk about this being a rock community and what we've created in there. So many people that comment on the facebook page and get in on the conversation and stuff when it came to last week and what we asked for at the end of the episode, Grayson Gaydos said great episode you guys always come up with fun and creative topics. How about enough's enough with this one? Any posted a link to this poster. That is like a one of a kind is a nineteen, ninety, eight double door Chicago and it's for awesome man it's got a clown. He's balancing on one hand on a ball. In his butthole he's balancing one leg of a chair in onto that chairs tied a beautiful woman and on top it says, Noth- enough on the by Mrs April Twenty Fifth One Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety Eight, and I want that poster so bad but I. It's three, hundred, sixty, one dollars ninety, nine cents down. But that's what I'm talking about right there. That's kind of what we call out for at the end of last week's episode get online look up your favorite band and let us know something cool. You found in your Ebay treasure hunt and as far as I can tell Grayson the only one that was picking up we're putting down all come on people and a lot of you have really awesome collections show off what you. have so I mean there's that and that's awesome. So thank everybody that comments on these episodes when they hello and I thank everybody that shares them and re tweets him. But the glory is unto itself because the people who do that are Geeks of the week. Yeah. Game of the week this week are Kristen Back Mad Ashcroft. Mark. Taylor. Don't have the same vibe when when we do the mugere anymore I think that was as close as I've ever gotten having perfectly in synergy with you. Yeah. Pretty close but it's never going to be the perfect is when we can look each other in the is from cross the table and say the Mougar fooballer. But what are you GonNa do it's a quarantine. Yeah. Well, one thing that the quarantine can not stop. Is the return. Of Camaros cutout Ben if you're not familiar with this, let me reintroduce you to the concept. I am crazy. Ask My wife. She'll tell you when she standing in a music store that's got boxes random CD's, and she's been there for an hour and I'm going. Yeah. Hang on hang on hang on just give me a just give me a few more minutes. She knows I'm crazy when it comes to CDs, I will go anywhere if I think CDs, are sale. There I will pick through numerous boxes of bullshit to find one CD that I think might be cool and I go to all the good sales. We got great stores here, Nashville. I'M GONNA. Tell you about some of them here today because I picked up some awesome stuff going to a lot of different places and when it comes down to CDs that are dirt. Cheap. And I don't know if they rock or not. But I'm willing to give it a shot. Those are what makes up Camaros cut been. These are CDs that I probably spend no more than five dollars on in some cases twenty five cents will find out here today but these are cheap s CDs of bands that I'd never heard of and thought you know what for this price I'm willing to give it a shot. So every once in a great great wild, what I like to do is pull out a handful of.

"What we said we wanted to go viral. But not like this. Welcome to the Decibel Geek podcast. We are still in quarantine my name. Is Eric Camaro across a couple of counties? Away is Kristin Zach. How's it going brother how you doing stay alive? How are you good? I'm just staying home trying to stay out of the mess as best as I can. Yeah we're into the second week of this and who knows what the hell is going to stop. It's driving me crazy man. I'm so stir crazy. It's like I want to go out and do stuff. You know how bad I wanted to go to. The phone unlocks music store the other day as wanting to go buy a CD. And I know all them stores are closed and even if they are open. I wouldn't go. I went to a local restaurant because they're trying to support the small businesses and they were doing curbside takeout orders and like chorus. They were backed up super long. And I'm sitting in my car reading a book and thinking this is more fun than being Al's awaited like forty five minutes for my food. I was like this is still better than being at home or like. Normally you'd be pissed for having to wait that long but in the circumstance like wow this the most exciting thing that's happened all day ask. We got out drove just drove around the country because we just had to get out of the house but didn't say anything all that special what it was like. At least we got out of the alphabet. Something Nice well. We're coming into your house this week. Because hopefully that's where you're listening to the show and Yeah it's another quarantine session today. Chris's where he's at in studio see. I'm back here in studio but we're not going to deprive you guys of the show. So we're GONNA rock on with this and we're going to do some more quarantine sessions today. We're GONNA answer some more questions. I've got a big surprise. A big surprise. We're GONNA try an experiment before the end of the show. And I'm not even going to tell you Chris what it is but I think you're going to have a lot of fun and I think the listeners are GonNa Freak in love it. All we need to do is find a willing participant today. So see what we can come up with now. We've got a couple of friends joining us this week. Hopefully because he is back this week and because he helped us out so much last week with our quarantine sessions that hopefully he'll be my willing Guinea pig. We also got his co host. This week in Josh. Toomey old friend of the show. Yeah Awhile since. He's been on the show. So it'd be interesting screen refund. Ask those guys about new podcasts. The diplomat Focus podcast Geo. I think it's called about right. We'll we'll we'll ask them all about that. But before we get to all this and the fun festivities and the secret experiments today we got to take care of our business and our business. It's sweet reviews and recommendations. We got a good one here today. It's an apple. Podcast Review Entitled Keeping Rock Alive. Five stars right there Bam these guys know their stuff and dig deep love revisiting some of the classic records with them and learning about how they were made. Keep up the great work. Guys that comes to us from rat. Fink number two via apple podcasts. From a year in the USA RATPAC number two number two number one out there somewhere him. Nex A rat fink number. We don't hide how much it means to us. So keep them coming. We love to hear from you guys especially during trying times like this. And thanks for the feedback. We got on the corentin sessions volume one last week when I remember of it was awesome. But it'll be if we do this again this week and you guys seem to like kind of the loose format and we loved. Interact with fun. Yeah and one thing. I realized last week about that show is that the Decibel Geek hotline is awesome. But the way it's going to work best when this shit all blows over and you're able to come back over here to the studio sit across from me and you and I can be here and take phone calls that way because man we get too many on the line. It just messes things up for man. That was funny listening. Yeah what a mess. I think people were entertained by all the problems. We were happy with it. So there's that at least for sure. Yeah but the GIG awakenings people that shared on facebook twitter twitter last week's Corentin sessions volume. One thinks loic this week. Our Jeffrey Mendenhall Scrap Gino aims. Just share this week's episode quarantine sessions volume two. I'm sure you will because it's going to be a lot of fun. Well I guess we got to talk about it. Well I guess before we do. I should say we're playing some music today This is what I picked this. I just found this is one of my last finds before the quarantine began in all the music stores. Shut down the CDs called a tribute to pink. Floyd that's it. It's got some weird stuff on it. Another brick in the wall featuring fee waybill of the tubes run like hell featuring diesel Zappa and I think Glenn who sings on that one to note the dude from Chicago. This crazy album one. I'M GONNA out at the end of the show to awesome cover. Welcome to the sheen dig this featuring Doug Panic of Kings axe Gary Holy on guitar. Mike Caro formerly of toto on Bass Keyboards Derek. Charene and on Drums Greg Bissonnette. That's crazy grown for the end of the show. That'll be our playout song. Bob Kulich written all over it. Not this one actually really. I don't see no Bob Hewitt on here. Maybe somewhere on their hurt but junior eric singer plays on breathing. The air came out in two thousand four on platinum disc. Never heard of that so I dealt mad. Yes well start things off with the sad news brother. Make it a double official. GotTa say it. On the show I hate Saito loud mandate break smart Iraq and Pod is not happening in twenty twenty unfortunately damn you corona virus. I'll make it brief. I mean essentially. There was just a whole lot of factors that kind of came into making the decision. But they're all related to the pandemic and basically all the repercussions that come with a pandemic and things that fall in line on the business side just basically a bunch of Dominos started falling and it got to the point where it was like this. It's GONNA be disastrous. If we go forward and we were the success of it was gonNA be incredibly hamstrung between between South and being able to sell hotel rooms and also the touring. The industry has been turned inside out and even even in a good scenario A lot of the tours are GONNA get reschedule. Which means a lot of our guests would probably not going to be able to come. And as a promoter. You don't WanNa you don't WanNa promote a bunch of guests that are gonNA wind up dropping off and also You know people don't have disposable income so you know this is this is a situation has hit the economy hard and it's just one of the things took a step back and it's like okay. People's health is at risk. We don't know how long this is going to go on for and people are gonNA need every penny they can get going into the rest of this year so it just made the most sense to postpone the twenty twenty. One and I'm in talks with the hotel. Were hoping to make an agreement to do it there next year so we can just kind of keep the same set up. We were going to have But I'm waiting to hear back from them so stay but stay. Tuned refunds have already been processed. Everybody should get their money back soon and The that's where we're at now. I'm sorry it couldn't happen. You guys all know how much work we put into this thing. And it's heartbreaking but it just as the best decision right now I mean. What can you do man? I mean the they're telling us stay home don't congregate with people you know. And that's what rock and pot is a big congregation all kinds of people hanging out in the same place next to each other. Enjoying each other and that can happen with what's going on you know and even if it clears up tomorrow who knows how long until things get back to normal you know and I look things ain't going to be tomorrow so it's socks. I'm GonNa Miss so many of my friends that I was looking forward to seeing this summer. You know and a lot of people are going to be let down. Because they can't make it but I'm sure everybody's got to understand. Do you WANNA get on a plane. Right now really. Do you WanNa go to stay in a hotel room. I don't I don't want to do these things. It's just not safe out there so stay home and listen to podcasts sea. Yeah I mean every everybody that three act that has been very good about it from the castors to the to the guests that we had scheduled to the attendees at across the board. Everyone's been super understanding and and everyone that knows me and Erin know that you know. This event means a lot to us in. We love kind of being the the host of this thing every year so it hurts to not be able to put it on like you said. We're GONNA miss everybody this summer but you know we had that much more time to try to plant something really great.

"I'm Ryan Gorman with me in studio James Berliner and Katie boo Chino if it feels like to spend more time on the road here in Tampa Bay it's because you all are according to US census data released last week ten years ago about one in seven Tampa Bay area workers spend more than forty five minutes commuting to work. now it's approaching one in five you spend forty five minutes commuting right at least yeah it is that is that because of how far away you are or traffic or combination of well if I drive at three o'clock in the morning which I typically do it takes me about thirty five minutes if I drive okay any time a day after eight AM yeah it's usually about an hour and ten minutes right when when I come in if I'm doing and Tampa Bay or come in and super early so I'm coming in at that you know yeah four AM hour then and it takes me from Carol would about twenty five minutes straight up Dale Maybury. easy ride sailing yeah that time of day it when I'm normally come in for PM Tampa Bay it's usually between thirty five forty minutes depending and that's moving that's me moving on the veterans at a pretty good clip awful I for is just. that's where you're taking yeah I for in the Solomon nationally yeah it is most commuter still spend less than thirty minutes getting to work but the numbers are headed in the wrong direction in twenty ten it was sixty three percent now it's less than fifty six percent most people travel by car or truck and do so alone nearly four out of five trips in Tampa Bay area are solo commutes the numbers increase since the Great Recession remains higher than the national average car pulling is the number two option making up about nine percent of commutes down from ten years ago most are two person car pulls only a fraction involved for more people. the one thing I'm wondering here. when they say solo commutes in car pulls car pulls wouldn't be like a family right if you're driving with your kids that would be considered a solo commute yeah I would think so I think carpool means with other another person yeah could drive yeah. out walking stayed about the same making up about one point four percent of daily trips to work Walker's tend to be the youngest group of commuters with an average age of under thirty four. that's got to be rough especially during the summer months trying to walk to work on okay how close the job is even it's right around the corner yeah now the swan boats by time to get indoors the number of people cycling to work is fallen since two thousand ten what about one in every hundred fifty commutes was by bicycle now it's one in every two hundred. and to show how bad public transit is in the Tampa Bay area it's one of the worst in the country the twenty people who consistently walk to work each day out number the almost nineteen thousand who take public transit. nationwide about five percent of commuters use public transit here one point three percent. no surprise there really is no public transient out with how many options now one final item that stood out in the report is that in two thousand ten sixty thousand people work from home that number has now reached a hundred five thousand or about one out of every fourteen local workers which is higher than the Florida average and way higher than the national average. that's a compromise is some businesses are willing to look at yeah because transportation and ends the commutes are becoming so bad here in the Tampa Bay area it's like you know what just work from home we'll have more time because you're not on the road in our. to work in an hour active over us yeah not in the car you can get more done in the technologies there where it can be pretty seamless still some good news on the transportation front. when I saw this I was thrilled. the Florida department of transportation is chosen a plan for Tampa's downtown interchange also known as malfunction junction for good reason the requires far less land and property then the state's previous plans that they can fix this this has to be taken care of years ago district secretary David Glenn told the Hillsborough metropolitan planning organization did this preferred alternative isn't perfect but offers balance addressing traffic and safety concerns while minimizing the impact in the neighboring community it also would not include tolls that was an option that was being looked at the plan would add lanes and reduce merge points the cost will be about a hundred seventy five million and the three parts of the project would be billed separately over the next five years or so as money becomes available so that's the problem. this should be a top priority we got to get this done what is it not I mean they're talking about. being done over the course of the next five years or so in separate parts like a punch to the heart. you can't have a merge with one no it's so bad it's ridiculous and it backs up everything else it's a domino effect I like getting mad thinking about it like I'm getting aggravated this one of the reason I don't take two seventy five through downtown to the Salman to the station anymore from from the care what area is one of the reasons I take the I took the veterans battling it it's a nice it's malfunction junction that becomes the disaster. so here are the three parts. expanding the flyover ramp connecting southbound I. two seventy five to I. four from one lane two two and building a new offramp for eastbound I. for fourteenth and fifteenth street allowing easier access to eat more city. the biggest thing is you've got to make the flyover ramp two planes period. they also want to add a lane from west bound I for the I two seventy five north and add a ramp at fourteen street to goes exclusively to I two seventy five north to a couple of things that'll make all set up a lot easier and then in that they want to widen the ramp from westbound I. for the I two seventy five south to three lanes and they want to move the downtown exit further south to spread out exit points all of this sounds great the problem is not happening anytime soon. a public hearing is going to take place in February and then the state will submit the project federal highway administration for approval have you where just the public hearing. we have it like next week. is that impossible.

Hate speech hate speech is when you demean demean another person with your words. Okay. What that's not hate speech. That's just being rude. Yeah. So is it is it now a crime to be rude? They wanna lock people up for being rude. That's ridiculous. There is a definition in the dictionary of hate speech really really wanted. I'm not saying that it does means it exists. But if you do need if you do need to define it, the dictionary the dictionary, right? First of all, it's now n- abusive or threatening speech or writing that expressive prejudice against a particular group, especially the basis of race, religion or sexual orientation, and that's not a crime, hate speech. That's not a crime. Oh, another texture here. It's rude. It's it's disingenuous you shouldn't do it. You're you're in a whole if you say those kind of things, but it's not a crime another. Good work. New federal report says Austin's floods becoming more severe. Yeah. The home builder's association of a greater Austin area. Glad David Glenn says, this is this proposals floating around to beef up the areas plumbing an infrastructure requirements because of the flooding concerns concern is that a project is already underway. And so you have a very sick budget that you must have here too. When you factor out. These costs can be very difficult to make that project rival if rules are changed midstream. Yeah. Now, if these rules do get approved Glenn hopes that there is some grandfathering for the current projects. And if notch that can meet some longer, wait times bigger bills for many of the projects in the bottom line here. Basically some. New guidelines are about to be proposed by the city to deal with flood issues. Well, and it's going to add to the cost of building a home. Here's David again. Not really sure what kind of bothering be in there or because they don't have to. But we're hoping that do the relationships that we built with them over time kinda see our perspective. But we talk to David Glenn with a greater Austin homebuilders association about some of the factors that play a role in home prices in values, some of the factors value to continue to rise as Austin's courses today a place to live work. We have noticed that incomes are not creasing proportionately with the house, increasing. I think that factor is about three and a half times the house. Increasing house is increasing about three times income there are other factors to that that somebody can control things he can't control. So for example, a trade war with Canada or Mexico affects both president materials like lumber. And also the duty to have Margaret workers come and actually help build these homes things like interest rates, increasing with the feds that affects home. But then there are things that cities can't control like regulations, you know, the process process to build a house the time it takes to get a house approved and permanent proves we can actually begin construct. You know, like Austin, we often see what are getting intended regulations kind of tacked on piece by piece, and what we what we end up with the Whitney of regulations that are just really burdensome and in in in really unwieldy, and it's very difficult to navigate that regulatory environment. It's the densify thousand cuts type scenario where you know, a little regulation here a little -regulation their amount to a very complex code, which is what we have today. Do you go now code next is actually coming back? Oh, boy, there's something we heard from a couple of city council folks in transportation planners, and others and home builders that code next kind of flopped over the past year and the city council just kind of gave up, but they do want to rewrite all of our codes and restrictions for building anything in the city. The city of Austin is about to go through its second attempt to adjusting it landed on the code issue. Of course. Current code hasn't been updated almost thirty five years and the city took a swing at it about two years and ultimately failed mid June. And so with the new city manager in place in a new city council place. I think that there's one more energy behind the second code rewrites demand. You're of course, is designing the program and we're expecting him to reveal that for the next few weeks. We've been working closely with that office and some books on capitol pep them for that process. It's not easy to fifteen hundred page documents. But we think that allowing for more density in a in a smart way. And responsible way is gonna ultimately be one way that we can we can keep more affordable in Austin, we need to try and denser taller and trying to build more affordably from top to bottom. Whether that's, you know, land prices or regulation the dog. It's all connected. So we have to be really thoughtful. Yeah. So the goal is to build more dense living higher taller down. Town closer to the core city. So that you don't need a car and your stacked on top of people. That's the only way we're going to be able to make things more affordable. Pretty interesting red fin spotlights Rosedale riverside at northwest. Austin is some of the hottest neighborhoods for the Austin metro as we hit it at twenty one thousand nine and Glen says those that are priced out the families that are priced out of driving to the north of the south for homes, noting that Williamson in Hays counties rates are growing faster than Travis county for the first time in a while back permit quarterly permit reports Kensington. Yeah, you can kind of get a feel for where the growth is happening. And of course, whenever the use of aging that comes on line. You see a spike in those permit as begin construction. Typically, the more active cities are cedar park Leander area up in the north west. We're seeing a lot more gross out in a manner east of Austin. And I think the next big area. That's that will be coming soon is kind of south east part Dell valley area, of course, for the first time in a very long time. We've noticed that Williamson county and Hays county. Both growing at a rate faster than Travis county. So that's a really good indicator that we're seeing we're still seeing a lot of migration into this area, not necessarily an Austin, proper or even in the Travis county, but in the surrounding communities north and south of us there you go. So that's Glenn Glenn, David David, Glenn rather from the greater Austin home builder's association talking about code next that did not pass the first time. Nobody knew what the hell it was. But I'm trying to figure out how will the Austin? How did they get the and I'm not wanting this to pass? But how did they expect to get the Austin voter to be interested in this and to give a rip about who out there, the average voters going we really need to change the city codes here, we really do. I mean, I can understand peace ahead of most people. Sure, but not only over the heads. But who's gonna want it who's going to want that who's going to who could they want? What they don't even know what it is. Well, yeah, I got you. But, but even if they did know what it was who is thinking we've really got to change the. Roads, we got to change the way that things are built where they're built why they're built who is thinking about that other than other than anybody that will benefit financially firm it somehow six forty five traffic. Here's don. We do have a pretty bad wreck right now on southbound thirty five around McNeil, and that's backing things up past fourteen. Thirty one not a great way to start out the morning commute coming in from Georgetown around rock that is for sure typical as building elsewhere on your major thoroughfares right now. And a few other Rex to talk about we have one it's a cherry road, the southbound service road, a thirty five another one burn it at the northbound service wrote a one eighty three new one is popped up. This going to be FM may twelve at the northbound service road at one thirty and FM nine seventy three at eight twelve erector is well, Don proud with Austin's on town traffic.

"Fire inside some sort of tunnel. Yeah. For a bunch of homeless folks had been camping outlet mattresses and other debris caught fire. And and he was quite a mess. The fire department can't plug up that tunnel or block it off because it would be a flooding has house. The homeless is an Howard says, well, what we need to do is pump more money into the system. And this is just proof that we need more money to help get these people off the streets and got a phone call. And I guess he didn't want to stay on hold. He was mentioning mobile loaves and fishes that model works pretty good at helping keep people off the streets. Now, they feed a lot of folks that is for sure yes. How did they keep them off the streets that homeless encampment out on the east side of Travis county mobile loaves and fishes put that together. True community. I some of them. Yeah. It. It's I mean, we have all these little programs here another program here another program here, which is certainly making a dent. But the overall the overall disaster that we have here in Austin, Texas is a long way from being solved. It is six nineteen here on the Don show you jump in. Now, we talked earlier this week about electric vehicles. How the city is making a push to encourage car dealerships to talk more about electric vehicles. But potential buyers of vehicles trying to get people out of their gas guzzling cars into an electric vehicle, and you you highlighted at best these cars, just don't look cool. They gotta look cool before the average consumer's gonna want one. You know? I mean, there's some people that want to protect the environment and all that stuff. And so they go out and go looking for a any electric vehicle, but very few people walk on a dealership looking for a car onto the parking lot. And they ended up just walking away with an all electric vehicle. Right. It wasn't their intention. So it's it's odd to make that big switch. While you're there on the floor. Sure. But Porsche has come out with the vehicle, and this is beautiful Porsche plans to produce an impressive forty thousand all electric taken cars per year. Porsches reportedly doubling their plan production capacity for the taken TAY C, A N or Tyke. And I'm not sure how you say that its first all electric vehicle to a massive forty thousand units per year. This according to German reports now previously Porsche reportedly planned on building only about twenty thousand per year. But they're doubling that effort, and it doesn't sound like much of an increase. But it's it is. Yeah. Now, we previously reported that portion was considering an increase of the plan capacity production. But now they have apparently made that decision to double the number of cars. Well, I mean for those that ensure it'll be expensive as hell if it's Porsche, and it, you know, it. Yes, I'm sure it will look amazingly cool, but it won't be accessible to the majority of the consumers out there. And that's just like, you know, I mean. I think that that that that certainly the Tesla's look amazingly cool. I love those cars, but those aren't accessible to the majority of the public after they're expensive show. If soon as they get a three hundred forty thousand aren't they I well, I guess yeah. They have one that starts at forty thousand. I guess, but you know, if they have the one that looks cool, and you feel like you can go anywhere in it including cross country, and it just feels like something that's going to suit your lifestyle. You've got something there. That's for sure you're not going to buy one until they make one that looks like grandma's car. Something like a Buick something you can drive to luby's or on to church every Sunday again, I would go for an electric vehicle. I would I would go for something. In addition to my regular car, something I could just kind of drive around locally to the gym in the store and stuff. I I would go for that. Sure. I got if if if it wasn't too damn expensive. I gotcha. Yeah. So listen report. Report out from the national home builders association of shows. Austin's affordability crisis is getting worse the hba of the greater Austin areas. David Glenn says, the so-called priced out index in the metro has been growing for the past six years for the Austin round rock in that say that number actually is one thousand ninety households are priced out every one dollars added to the cost of. So every time the cost of the average home goes up a thousand dollars another one hundred thousand people are so are priced out. Glenn says this is caused by mixture of Boston's litany of building codes area. Incomes not keeping up with housing costs. And we've got this interest rate hike as well, not to mention trade tariffs things like that affecting lumber prices. We're going to hear more from him in just a few minutes coming up after the news at six thirty get some interesting insight into the hoops and hurdles that Austin puts in front of home builders, which leads to, you know, the price of a home going up, which leads to more people living in. Tunnels and caves on the bridges and things like that. According to an Howard. Well, that's that's that might be extreme. But it's it's it's, you know, those days of being able to get your starter home right in Austin right right in the middle of Austin. Those are long gone, man. It is now gonna be on the outskirts and trying to work your way in. But the thing why would you try to work your way in? Well, if you want to live if you want to live here. Cedar park round rock in the outskirts as you say, nothing nothing. No, no, no, no, no. Those are fine communities. No doubt about it. But if you if living in downtown or not downtown at least in the middle of Austin, Texas. As your starter home. Forget it. Now here are some of the hot spots serve. The where people are buying the most homes, or at least it's changing over the past few.
