"There's plenty of sci-fi visions that go the other direction. I think it's time for ri read of the moon is a harsh mistress. I think we're reaching that point. I don't think so. I think seeing that attempting to run asteroid mining company is a way to lose a lot of money. We are a long way away from anybody being able to have the leverage to be independent in space. And so it's going to unfold in slow motion and the laws. In this case, I feel confident we'll be able to stay ahead of our expansion into the solar system. And I think the hope is that we continue to use the Antarctic treaty as the outer space treaty as a model for how to share this resource and try to minimize the tragedy of the comments that always seems to happen. I hope we have your future. All right. We'll find out together. All right. It's true. Thanks, pebble. Thank you, Razer. "Me. If they get David Gates and bread out there, then I'll be like, if a bitch would be to thousand words. Then why can't I be you? Maybe 'cause you don't know how to paint. It's a dumb question. Why should I be able to paint you just because a picture paints a thousand words? Why does that have to do with me? David, in fact, let's get him on the phone. He's no. So anyway, that's enough for the Super Bowl. What do you think? Did you enjoy the game at least? Here's what, oh, I forgot to tell you guys this. This is fake. What is it? This is about the Super Bowl. Plus 11. 7 pointees. I took the Bengals plus four and I added 7 to it. And I took the over and -7, which put it to 42 and a half. Okay. What was the final score? 43 20. I tease it to 42 and a half. So anything over 42 and a half. By a half point, I took the double hit on the parlay teased, and I won. I put 41 big ones down. Wow. $4100. It was all I had in my savings account. I got 7600. So you bet the ranch and you won. I bet the rent. Now I get two inches. And ranch dressing. So you didn't enjoy the Super Bowl yet you made a lot of money. That's right. So I didn't get the game was pretty good. And so what did you enjoy? Okay, I can totally understand why you didn't enjoy the app. I'm sure. Snoop Dogg smoked, weed before he went out. Oh, really? Wow. That's a surprise. He smokes green crack, by the way, which I have some of, right? Right here in my pocket. It's not crack. No, just so the thing. No, it's my crack. And it's all green, but it's called green. That's different. We don't smoke that. We're silly. Okay, I have a million different things to talk about. But first, what do we do this with quiz, see how you guys tell? Smith, we have a smith quiz. In honor of smitty? Is this a Smith off? Oh man. Okay, I'm gonna give you a point to the person who names this, you have to give me the first name of this person named Smith. Okay. These are all famous people. And I'm just gonna give you a pretty big family. Quick clues, I'm gonna yell them out and you have the first guy's buzzes in with the right knee. Okay, ready? Yeah. Ten of these. Cardinals shortstop, Ozzy. That's Ben's point. Yay. Yeah, okay, good. Charlie's angel. Jacqueline. That's yours. That's right. Fresh prince will, well, I beat you, you did. CBS journalist. Named Smith bob. Why not Bob Schieffer? Frank. Harry Smith, you've seen him. Come on. So it's still two to one me. Yeah. Yes. Cowboys running back. Emmett. Wow. Three to one, Benny. Famous economist, Adam. Yeah. Dead, big boobed model. And in a cold. Quick isn't it? I think he's doing diet pills. I'm asleep. Gay anchorman. Oh, what's his name from Fox? Shep, shepherd. Smith. Good. He's cute. Drummer for the red hot chili pepper chat. I'm telling you he's on fire. 6 to two. And former bears coach, lovey? Yes. Yes. You know, after all this from Ben. He got to think he must admire anyone named Smith. Yeah, I would think so very much that way. Yeah, it seems that way. In the old days, he probably would have loved the neighborhood black smith. The village smithy. Yeah. That's how he got his name? And these days at the great great great great great great great great great great great great grandfather was a blacksmith. The hot tub, he probably looked cock Smith. That's right. That was pretty good that he got all that. Thanks, man. Adam Smith, what's he famous for? Oh, he's the economy. But I know I said that. I already gave it his economic theories. Yeah. Well, what was this big theory? The one that rules the whole economic world is about economics. It's called the invisible hand the invisible hand that's right. Yeah, you know what? That's how I grew up people on buses. I get away with it too. I had a teacher named doctor. My economics teacher was a Pakistani gentleman named doctor Muhammad zahir. And me and Benji, who was my classmate. Before we go out and smoke weed during a class break, we call him doctor mosey. Doctor Muhammad zahir and he was talking about the invisible hand. It's to say Adam speed media original hand. We've got what is he saying? He'd write it on the board, then we go, oh, and we said, okay. And so it wasn't really invisible, but it was what determines the supply and demand of the crossbars. When I got let go, he didn't even come and he was afraid to come confront me and tell me you've been let go. He probably feels Zachary. Who's also a pussy? No. Yes, he is. No, he's a great guy. Phil zachery and Kevin Graham, who were running the ship at EEI when I got so unceremoniously dumped thanks to mutt and minahan. Guts to say, oh, well, you know, good luck. No, nothing. They hid their offices. And they locked me out with my key card so I couldn't go in there and piss on their desks. You know all that old stuff is gone. Now we get new leadership new management and they're doing a good job. I'm glad they are for your sake and for all my friends that are still there. Both my friends that are still there. Is there anybody still there that's my friend? That's us? Just us. That's it. Do they say bad things about me behind my back? No, in the bathroom. In English in the stalls, it's your name is still there. Says aim here. I'd like to, if I could. I'd like to just go off for a moment on a sense of Valentine's Day was yesterday. Yes. I'd like to ask you guys because this is an interesting topic. Yeah. Do you remember your first love? Yes. The first girl you fell in love with way back when I was a little kid. How old were you? I was in the 7th grade. It was doreen maloney. You waited that long? Yeah. 7th grade, but she was the love of my life and she didn't even have bips yet. She and her family moved to Augsburg, Germany. And we wrote back and forth for the law. He was with the CIA, I think. We wrote back and forth letters. So you write to hammer to her. No, to her, handwritten letters. And then suddenly the letters stopped and I have never think about her. He killed him. He killed her because she knew too much cheese. Could you did Bill? I know. This is why you don't love. Gets people killed. She glocks his spiel. Why do you ask this question? Bill? I mean, Ben,.

"Switch has been flying under the radar, Brad. They have they've been kind of cold too, bro they been cold for a while, I'm like, poker, they came up with Pokémon, what else they came and went. Multiple Pokémon game, Pokémon united. Mario party. Yeah, Mario party finally, that Mario golf died pretty quickly. Yeah, it's been a while. I'm not a lot of going back to the PF 5. This is the first time that I really like got into the hype. And honestly, I was kind of worried because of pandemic and the shortages of stuff, so this is legit the first console that I bought day one. I've never bought a council in my entire life day one. So I definitely been into the hype and it's just in here. So it is what it is, but it hopefully in 2022 will actually get some mega, but I'm pretty much the same way as TBH. It really hasn't been that one title that I'm like, damn, this is why I bought my P at 5. It just been like, I played, you know, some of the exclusives they came out and that's it. I tell you this much, I'm gonna be pissed if by the time they start Sony starts finally rolling out some exclusives or even like Xbox, they come out with like a slim version, but I'm like really, we waited two years for some games. They finally come out and then y'all drop a slim with better cooling it and shit. I'm gonna be annoyed. Got this brick just sitting here. But yeah, that's our thoughts on the state of NexGen gaming. It'll be interesting to see how things turn out in year two. Hopefully they'll get better. We got The Game Awards coming up this week. So hopefully we'll get some decent announcements that'll become in the next gen, but for right now it's really not much to play. They're both like indie machines unless you haven't played the exclusives. So let's move on to the story portion of the podcast, the news section. First big story we got is it's rumored that Amazon is close to inking a deal with BioWare to produce a mass effect show. How we feeling about this ethos? You're the mass effect fangirl here. Fangirl. Yeah. Oh girl. Okay, now fanboy. That's problematic. What are you trying to say? What's wrong with being a fangirl? Women are strong. I don't identify myself as a woman. Oh, I'm just trying to make sure you all apologize mister G four. Mister G four. I like that. I like that. He'd like to see support because of people. I just like what the writers is or just in general. It just in general just that part. We can talk about that too. Yeah, so I like it. I think it's a great idea. We've seen other sci-fi shows come out recently lost in space and the expanse that I feel like are highly inspired by mass effect that I think a mass effect sci-fi series could work really well. I think Witcher is a great example of that of a success story of how you can translate the books in the games and mass effect has had such expanded media and expanded lore for such a long time that has like books. It doesn't even include the video games, like they even had an anime for mass effect that I totally could see it possible. I do know the concerns of, well, it is a player focused RPG and you pick your character and the choices you have, so how are you supposed to translate that? But I think that's like a narrow mindset. People need to understand that the massive universe is so vast that they don't need to focus, and I would hope they don't. They don't need to focus the TV show on shepherd's story. Actually, I would hope they don't do that. Because like you said, shepherd is such a unique character that's driven by player choice that obviously like if you try to focus it on shepherd, you know, you have to pick choices that other people might have not picked. I think it's way better if they pull back into the universe and literally do like a whole new story within that universe was like brand new characters and stuff like that. And maybe like cameos of like garrus and liar in them. I think that would be way better, kind of like Mandalorian does. So it doesn't focus on like Luke Skywalker, but there's a cameo of him later on, so. Yeah, I think if any, if any company has the budget to do it, it's Amazon. And I hope they put a budget behind it, 'cause it's that space shit. They're gonna need it. I don't wanna see no tacky special effects and shit. And then I also will be expanse. They back the expansion I'll tell you once they Amazon owned the expanse from sci-fi, like the budget went up astronomically and the show got really good because of the increased budget. So I think if they give mass effect the same respect that they gave the expanse, I think this could definitely be like tear Witcher. It could be definitely a banger. Yeah, I don't wanna see, I don't wanna see them try to recreate the shepherd's storyline. I wanna see them do something like some side lower some shit that was going on on the other side of the universe. Or they could do something where they explore the first contact war or something against the turns or something like that. I don't want the main storyline. I wanted to be something separate. It could be the universe. They could do like an entire arc on like when Gareth goes AWOL after the events of master. That would be fire. Yeah, what was he up to when he was on there? Do you remember who that is JJ? Archangel, you remember who that is? When omega? Apparently. Oh man. Oh my goodness. Sniper guy that's never done. Okay, but all right, but I'm actually surprised in both of you. I thought about that you would absolutely hate this. But you know you all the explanation. I think that that probably would be a better way to go about this because I am getting into what the dragon age BioWare guy said because he was like, this makes me cringe because he like, well, Italy, you're going to have to choose whether shepherd is going to be a male or a woman and yeah, I can see that, but I think that if you just don't focus on shepherd at all, don't even don't even put him in a story or her in the story, and just focus on all the other characters and all the other lore and all the math of a universe into the show, then I think that that would probably be a better way to go about it. But I thought that you all would be like, oh, hell, no. How am I gonna go about this? Like, I want shepherd to be bad, what if they don't make it shepherd good and making all the good choices? 'cause, you know, that would be oh no, this should trash. We gonna cook the fuck out of it. Don't get it twisted. They all are. They all are, but I just thought the y'all were easily like before, you know, anything you became, I would be like, I don't know about this. Like, don't mess with mass effect at all. I don't even wanna see this as to a series or a movie. I'm only open to it because a Amazon is like the richest company in the world so they have the budget for it and then B, they have a lot of heaters under the belt between the boys, man in the high castle. A couple other shows that I've seen invincible. Amazon has a ton of heaters so they have that proven track record where I'll trust them that they could come up with something dope. So one of the actual writers of mass effect the original trilogy David gate and he was kind of complaining and bring up some of the things that eat those was saying. He was basically saying that he thinks it's kind of cringey that they want to produce a show because shepherd is a blank slate, kind of what eat those was saying, but then also he was talking about the side characters. He went on a whole Twitter rant and here's one part that kind of stuck out to me where he said, you think I'm wrong considered just how much of the story is offloaded onto the companions. They are ciphers to which the player gets most of their emotional engagement from on their own. I think about the companions, I don't think that's a big deal, because literally you could just, 'cause the companion missions are like a big component of mass effect. You literally just have episodes dedicated to companions where you learn more about them, and they go on a fucking mission. And then at the end, at the end, they do their own TV suicide mission. I don't get what the big deal is there. Yeah, and another thing too is like they could totally do entire in the spirit of mass effect. That's the thing. It's like, I think he's just too stuck on. It has to have like all the original casts like you have to have cast a tally. You gotta cast like a garris. And it's like, you know, mass makes more than that. It's always been more than that. So I think that the universe has so much depth to it that why not make an entire new crew? Like kind of how Star Trek does it? Where they focus on different crew generations and it's still in the same universe, but it's a different entire crew. You could totally do an entire crew of like brand new types of individuals working together and stuff like that. There's a bunch of stuff that you can do. Yeah, so I need all my big titty cosplayers. This is your chance to shine. If you want to play the role as an asari, just put on some blue paint, hit the strip club, baby. You know what?.

"Pavlovsky is our guest, the pastor of ST Church, Alberta, Canada. Pastors. We're going to break I've made the point. My study of Paul Revealed to me that those were the epistles of Paul are letters written from a prison. The Lord was always very clear that as he suffered, we must suffer. This is suffering. You're going through at the hands of the state and I get the impression that you understand that and you embrace it. Yes, Jesus is very clear in his commandments, he says. If you love me, obey my commandments, and then she says, decaf you cross daily. That's just saying to me that there will be times when I will have to stand up for for my faith for my lords and pay the consequences for my sons. He says that they hated me. They will hate you. They persecuted me. They will persecute you. This is a promise. Unfortunately, people are evil. Many people are extremely evil, and they hate the truth. They hate the light. That is a huge corruption in the world. Greed, selfishness, So when a man of God or a woman of God rises up Shines on those evil people in the absolutely Hey did you know that video that I recorded chasing cleaning the temple overturning the tables if you will. Chasing those Highness out of the of the church. I posted it rather way on my Facebook page, and then I went to continue with my service and Washington. God, And I would never imagine that a little little video like this is going to become a symbol of resistance around the world. I He was told that that video was watched over a billion times. It was number one feed You played during the Easter weekend and I got tens of thousands of emails and phone calls on non stop people contacting me saying Thank you for showing us how it's done. And I say to people, and I said before, the only thing really we need to do is we have to say three words. No. That's the first one no to the globalist agenda. No to this abuse of power no to those low breakers because that's what they are. They're wearing uniforms in the name of the law, but they have become a muscle for biggest Matthew on the planet Earth. They're the real love breakfast right now. You have to say no to them, and you have to say, Get out. No and get out. That's How simple this is. Non compliance. Peaceful resistance, Civil rights movement, Martin Luther King Jr style We will not bow before you were humans. We have all being created equally. Who do you think you are? Just because we have given you the power to rule That doesn't mean you have to take our rights away. We have elected you to protect us. Not to enslave us and the police officers. We have given you a gun to protect us not to harass and intimidate us. Like who do you think you are? And I thought that this message was very clear. Leave me be. I'm not looking for trouble. I'm not looking for Fight with authorities, Politicians or police Department. I just wanna be left alone left alone to do what I am called to do They have a job there. The first responders. The doctor's got the job. The nurses, the paramedics saw the clergy mint. I have a job as important as they historically speaking always were soldiers. The doctors and the clergyman of the battlefield, assisting the dying and mending the wound. So off those there were heart. What happens? The lepers were always taking care of by the priests. And the and the nurses you know from the conference on business is being changed. So I thought they're going to leave me alone. I really thought that because of this international attention, they will get the picture back off. Leave me be However, last Last church service you you will not believe it. They're knocking on my door and I opened the door and there is a SWAT team. Slopped into a ministry to a pastor that has absolutely 00 evidence of violence for 22 years that I'm doing my work here. Public work in the city of Calgary. Master. Our tour of Lasky is our guest. Faster out. My question for you would be You have a flock. That you Sheppard, You have a congregation at your church? I'm sure you went into the pulpit. You're not a shot, man. And this as with every other thing you observe and you feel is part of the message you bring to your congregation. What was that message The Sunday following While I could not ignore what is happening, what I do, I try to always teach history Bible and make it relevant, relevant. For the people for what they are seeing around us. Of course I did. Made that sermon relevant to what we experience and I was teaching people about the story of Moses. Which his brother iron coming to the pharaoh and telling him Let my people go so they can worship me. That's the message I still have for those authorities for those wannabe ferrous Let my people go so they can wash it Got in peace. Let my people go so they can pray in peace so they can congregate in peace. Let my people go feral wannabe pharaohs. If not, you will pay the consequences for your actions because what I know from history, and what I know about my God is that is just a matter of time. When all of those villains evil people they're pushing their agendas against God's Children are going to pay a terrible price. I. The irony of this whole situation is that they came back with swatting. Gang suppression team. I mean, I was I was absolutely disgusted and they brought a document from the court and you will not believe this. You will not believe this. I didn't want to believe it. The judge that signed this order. Allowing them to force themselves in During church service. To a peaceful assembly. And Eve. Would not allow them. They can use any force necessary. The judge and the force necessary Come, so club me to death. If that's necessary or hanging off me arrest me so they can go and forced themselves to the pulpit. What's signed by a judge and listen to this. His name is David Gates. Can you imagine? Out of all the judges in this province. Gate. I don't know. Is he a family of Bill Gates? She That's his uncle, his cousin but David Gates. Signed the order breaking every rule. Historical and The rule of the Criminal Code of Canada that cross events interruption of the church service end. Rocket bids interruption of the clergymen while he's officiating. Is beauty. As in the capacity of a clergyman, and he signs that Unbelievable. And you have issued the clarion call, But I'll tell you where one of them is one man one leader. He's in the pulpit at the street Church, Alberta, Canada. Thank you for being who you are. Thank you for doing what you did. We want to have you back again. Thank you, sir. Thank you very much. Climate change denier, David Legates, appointed to NOAA, alarmists howl
"As hurricanes, Sally batters Gulf Coast and climate field wildfires continue to ravage the West we turn to look at how a well-known climate change denier has been tapped for a top position at Noah. That's the National Oceanic and atmospheric. Administration. University of Delaware Professor David Gates is written papers calling for more fossil fuel emissions has had his work supported by the Robert Mercer. Funded heartland institute coal, and Coke Industries, as well as major gas companies. In two thousand eleven he was pushed out of his role as Delaware State climatologist for his views on climate change which go against the scientific consensus in two thousand and eighteen same year. The intergovernmental panel on climate change warned humanity had only a dozen years to mitigate climate change your face global catastrophe David Lee Gates spoke at heartland. Institute. Conference on a panel called quote why co two emissions are not creating a climate crisis. We've all heard carbon dioxide of course, is a pollutant. It drives climate. It is the single most important factor that determines what the climate is going to be in the future and what the temperature is going to be and how much precipitation is going to be so much so that we have a danger sign on carbon dioxide. But the question I wanted to WanNa ask is, is it really a benefit? Not just simply? Has Gotten a bad rap but is it really something that we could do with a little bit more? So the answer my question is carbon dioxide, a pollutant or a benefit. Clearly isn't a pollutant is definitely a benefit and we can do with a little bit more of it. David La Gatesville serve as no as deputy assistant secretary of Commerce for Observation and prediction top climate scientists Michael Manteaux then pr he could not imagine quote immortal misguided decision than the appointment

Climate science denier appointed to top position at NOAA
"We're also following the controversy over a client climate science denier who's reportedly appointed to a top climate position in the US. Government C. N. N.'s Brian Todd is joining us right now Brian critics say this is a rather dangerous pick for such a key position right? Wolf critics including scientific watchdog groups are pouncing on this appointment tonight of David Lee Gates. Those critics say this appointment is especially troubling now in the middle of the wildfires, the hurricane season and the coronavirus pandemic. As record-setting wildfires. States as America's southern coast continued to get pounded by more frequent hurricanes. President trump continues his assault on climate science it'll start getting cooler. You just watch and the president's time is facing blistering criticism tonight for reportedly appointing a climate science denier to a top position at America's preeminent weather and climate agency David Lee. Gates has been tapped to be a top deputy at the National Oceanic atmospheric administration known as Noah that's according to NPR and the Washington Post. This is a dangerous pick for Noah because it threatens the thousands of Noah scientists who conduct and communicate climate science. Every day La- Gates has a long record of accepting fossil fuel industry funds and spreading disinformation about climate science according to the Post League Gates was once forced out of job as the state of Delaware's. climatologist because of his research paid for in part by the fossil fuel industry, which cast doubt on the science showing that the burning of coal and other fuels were main factors in climate change at a House hearing last year Lee Gates openly disputed the belief of many climate scientists that carbon dioxide is mainly responsible for heating up the planet that has little to do with carbon dioxide as the demise of the little ice age and warring conditions we've had due to increasing son according to NPR in two thousand, seven league gates helped author a paper funded partially by the oil industry that question scientific findings about the role, of climate change. In destroying polar bears habitats, he now heads to an agency Noah which watchdog groups say has a long history of nonpartisan, very credible work in providing the country with weather and climate information. What kind of effect could lead gates have it? Noah. One watchdog group sites the trump administration's appointments a former fossil fuel industry lobbyists to head the EPA and the Department of the Interior and they have retired there we've seen a altered of reunifications on climate change. We've seen climate websites removed. We've seen climate scientists gagged from communicating with the media and the public critics say this is only the latest move in trump's pattern of denying or trying. To suppress science, he announced that the US would withdraw from the Paris climate agreement. He's dismantled regulations on greenhouse gas and auto emissions Noah itself has at least once shown it couldn't withstand trump's pressure when a branch of the National Weather Service corrected trump's erroneous predictions for hurricane Doreen last year, which he later displayed with a sharpie threatening Alabama Noah disavowed that correction we have data wars going on data is being politicized, but one side of the other being weaponized and when you get into that point were the public can't tell who's telling the truth. It undermines democracy undermines a kind of trust that you need to make a democracy work. CNN reached out multiple times to David Lee Gates to know to the Commerce Department which oversees no and to the White House for response to the criticisms of La-. Gates's appointment. We didn't hear back from any of them but one board member of the conservative think tank the heartland institute which downplays the Climate Change Threat which David Gates is a member of told us that La- Gates will provide much-needed science sanity at Noah which this board member claims. has been taken over by quote climate
