It was directed by denis villeneuve. I like that last. Name villa new. I've heard this director mentioned a bunch of times and this is the first film of actually watched From him so i'm excited to talk about today. It stars jake jillian hall as detective. Loki hugh jackman as keller dover paul dottino as alex jones maria bello as gray stover terrence howard as franklin birch melissa leo as holly jones viola davis as nancy birch. David dust malkin as bob taylor. That name always a little bit and dylan. Monette as ralph dover okay. So movie is absolutely nuts It's set during the time of thanksgiving which innocence creeds time restrictions versus the cold weather because as will come to find out There's a lot of outdoor searching. So i the big fear here is that you know. They need to do a certain something before snowfall or before christmas as as they say in the movie. Now during this thanksgiving what whether it's dinner lunch whatever during this outing between the family and the dover family who are. I don't know where their connection comes from. But we know that these two families very close. It's pretty common to see on thanksgiving to families coming together. Like that and Yeah two little girls anna enjoy. Go missing. I think go and they go to look for a red whistle. And that's like the safety whistle or something. They go to go to look for it. And they don't know where the where the girls went and they look all over and eventually with the consensus has come to Because ralph dover and his friend. I believe it was like elisa That you don't really hear from either of them too much throughout the film. But they say that. When they took the girls for a walk earlier they were climbing on this. Rv and now the rv's gone so they're assuming that the guy that was in the rv probably took the kids so yeah a whole thing happens from there but then we meet our other protagonists of the story for our other. I guess main of eyes and ears so to speak detective loki who is assigned this case and apparently he doesn't ever lose cases he he's he's a very good detective now. Keller dover who is played by hugh jackman feels Things can be done much faster in his very impatient but understandably so considering that this is his daughter. He's worried about here And he decided to take matters into his own hands and Use actually begins to torture. He he kidnaps alex and he starts a torture because he's trying to get answers. So franklin Is actually helping. Keller doing this at first But upon learning of their actions His wife. Nancy convinces franklin that while they will no longer Aid in keller. or sorry. they'll no longer aid. Keller in his efforts. They're not going to do anything to stop him from. Acting on his own but They're not the they're not going to stop them but they don't want to help them anymore. And i it's it's immoral thing. I suppose because they feel bad about what they're doing so they're gonna stop but they're not going to prevent him from doing it. Which i i just don't see how that makes it any better on them. But i do kind of understand where they're coming from there so there's that Okay let's take another look here. So loki follows another lead W- there is a little bit of a vigil for these girls missing a few days at this point quite a few days and he chases suspect. Brian taylor. This random guy with a hood just comes up weirdly touches the teddy bear at the at the visual and then he makes eye contact with the policemen and they started little chase and Things are getting kinda crazy over there. Now it's in this guy's house where eventually detective lookie will find the bloodied clothes of anna enjoy And it causes all parties to the to feel a great sense of defeat. Everyone is just assuming now that the kids are dead. They've been killed. And this is going to be the end of the girls and this is gonna be a very sad ending to the story now. Eventually we learn. Both alex and brian taylor were innocent of this crime and furthermore victims of the same crime when they were children. So what we ended up finding out was that Their mother or the person that was thought to be alex's mother was actually not out his real mother but was the actual kidnapper and have been trapping kids for plenty of years with her husband. Who is now at this point deceased. But she had been trapped catching kids with her husband and alex and bryan were both two children that at some point one you know at one point or another they actually were able to capture those two kids and the way that they capture them as they catch them and then they put them in this maze. And if they're able to get out of the maze then they're able to go free and that's not without its own personal trauma which i'm sure that the two little girls. I mean they do end up getting out and I'm sure that they will have their share of trauma. However i guess the on the bright new or the bright side here is that both girls do ended up surviving and none of our main cast is killed. Although it looks like huge akrons character might get killed but We'll touch on that a little bit later. This movie was was very hard to watch at times. And there was so much grit and real nece with the dialogue and the imagery that it actually made me both sad and angry. That cases like this aren't unheard of so let me reiterate that because i i am sticking to my notes but at the same time Stuff like this does happen in real life. unfortunately and that is what makes me sad angry. And it's the fact that this movie. I mean granted. This movie i believe is fictional. what's not fictional. Is the fact that stuff like this does exist. So this movie was able to not i. I can't say beautifully portrays it but it accurately portrays what this situation would really look like. They really show the grief of the parents in the different stages and reactions from all the parents and How the police officers feel in this moment. And how messed up that the.

What up film fans and we got raymond louw and i'm actually pretty excited to talk about another superhero film. I know we've talked in the past about having marvel fatigue but now we're going to jump to the other biggie which is dc. We're gonna be talking about the new. Thus suicide squad written and directed by james gunn starring. Everybody idris elba margot robbie. John sina joachim. In silvestre stallone hollow does a great fucking job. Viola davis peter. Cappelli danielle milky. Or and. I hope i'm saying this gentleman's name because i actually fucking love him but david dust malkin and yeah so what we'll do is let's go around. Let's do this. Let's go round and do a first impressions on this. I'm assuming we've all only seen at one time. Let's talk about it in contradistinction to the last one The first film suicide squad. Just really briefly. Let's not do like a big diatribe on it. But what are your impressions of this film. Just kind of brief first impressions. And what do you think of it as a sequel In relation to the last film. That didn't do so great. Let's start with raymond. This is really a sequel. Though right they're billing it just their billing as a sequel yeah it's kind of sequel re recall folks renewable yet gone yet. Another thing to add to the the vocabulary i thought about this movie was a very pleasant surprise..
