"Of things. And it's much easier to match defenseman against boards than it is against forwards against sports. So Tampa will be easier for them to get McDonald's or neck out there. But if I could on whistles and situational times, that's the matchup I'd be more concerned about if I'm Toronto than I would be with Matthews playing up against kucherov and stamkos or whoever. Yeah, what's interesting is the lightning fairly recently decided to finally break up point and kucherov after basically having them together for years now. And kuchar was not close have been dynamite together if I went 5, I made an stamp closest 26 points in his last 9 games or whatever. They've been preposterously good. And I love how kucherov looks for stamkos and kind of makes his life easier as a shooter. But the trickle down effect of that is now Tampa Bay all of a sudden getting point away from kind of that quote unquote scoring line. All of a sudden it gives them a bit more versatility as well where you've got point and he's playing with whatever Hegel or Paul Weber's wingers are going to be. But then you've also got sorelli who kind of had like a if it weren't for Patrice bergeron a potentially selkie caliber season. So Tampa Bay all of a sudden has now a bit more forward flexibility as well as opposed to being kind of box data with like, all right, we've got all our best players on one line and then we kind of have to figure it out with the rest. Right, but in the playoffs past has been like a massive difference maker offensively. Yeah. And while he has just on our point of game this year, you want her playing with Paul or Colton or whoever, aside from the power play, as I'm with 5 O 5, can he be that kind of difference maker for a Tampa? Scoring. I get it, totally versatile, like down the line, as far as match ups on the road, you're more comfortable with point, sorelli and then Sam gross playing with Pilate and Gujarat where if that's what top. But it's been a different kind of year for point where he hasn't been quite to the extremely high standard that he has set for himself prior to this year. So yeah, that'll be something to watch. I mean, it's going to be something to watch how that works. And I'm glad and sorelli is he's such a good player, he's such an effective player. And he allowed coming back to Toronto and playing around throttle. So yeah, he might end up having a pretty big say of the series as well. Okay, this is my last question for you here with the leafs. What is their optimal defensive combination? Because assuming sandin comes back here at some point, it is healthy to play I'm not sure what his status is either, but you figure they basically have 8 guys that they would probably want to have in the lineup with Riley labouche and Brody, muzzin, little grand Giordano and then hall and sandin. What's your optimal way to which 6 guys you play in and then how are you constructing that defensive depth chart?.

"Opening night. Scores. There's the first goal of the new season and it's Jonathan drew in. Kind of a fitting one two punch there. Drew and all this troubles he had last year stepping away from the team. One of his biggest supporters with Josh Anderson both emotionally physically helping him back, but it's a turnover here by muzzin. Now you've got a two on one and how about the patience of Anderson? Just wait until high. Committed himself and went down. I just think that organization's been through a lot and you know, he's a number one center. He's going to be a number one center for a long time, and I think it was a positive vibe for the organization. You know, that's interesting. The idea of the asparagus Carcano offers sheet hastening along and it's Suzuki deal. I can remember on this podcast, you and I talking about this, you know, what effect is this gonna have on Nick Suzuki, like is Nick Suzuki gonna make sure he sends just very cut, can you hear me a Christmas card? Because that offer sheet like to your point about Montreal, you know, if they had matched, would Carolina just turn around and do the same thing with Nick Suzuki the following season or some other team, do the same thing with Nick Suzuki, the following seasons. I think that's a really interesting comment. Could you imagine if they offer shoot each other in perpetuity? So next year, it's Montreal's turn. Then the year after its Carolinas term. I love what we're like that. Don't you? I think the whole thing's hilarious. You know what? You need villains. It's good for the sport. I don't know if. Version of things is hilarious is the rest of us do, but you need villains because it's good for entertainment. I think it would be fantastic. But we know how the NHL operates and teams just won't do it. It's a rare bird, the offer sheet, which is what made the cut canyon situation. That much more special. Charlie mcavoy speaking of special, special defenseman with the Boston Bruins. And as we know, the Boston Bruins have a long history of getting players to come in under market value and whether it's, you know, with this team, Patrice bergeron or Brad marchand or David pasternak, the idea is very much the collective we over me. Does that streak again now with Charlie mcavoy? Is Charlie mcavoy the Boston Bruin player that finally says no, I want to earn what I'm worth. Thank you very much. Okay, so again, until this is a done deal, please don't take this as a report. I'm just using the old Doug McLean line. I'm not saying it's true. I'm telling you what I heard. And I think the information is reasonably solid, and I'm going to give you the process. So everybody kind of understands what I'm thinking here. There was a podcast we tape. I think it was our first news podcast in September, where I said, I think the bruins do a big run at getting Charlie mcavoy done before the season. And what I've been told was that they were working on an 8 year extension with mcavoy and the number was above warski, which is 9.5 plus. And after we recorded it, I got a call and I got some dispute on how close it was. And so I just wasn't sure and I didn't want to get well instead of podcasting. Or instead of radioed, I didn't want to get podcasted. I told them to take it out because I just had some uncertainty and if I could take it out, take it out before I'm really ready to defend myself if anyone challenges me on this. But that's what I'd heard and someone just said it's not close. I don't know if I'd go with that yet. So now cam newly comes out the other day and says they're working on it. And again, if it's an 8 year deal, I think the number is going to be very big. I know some people are guesstimating ten. I don't know that it's gonna get to ten. But I had heard 8 times 9.5 plus. And again, I'm not reporting that's a fact. I'm just telling you what the rumor is out there and the dispute I got was how close it was. So I think there's a chance to be a very big deal. It's obviously getting closer. The best I can tell is, I think they're kind of working on how the whole structure of it might be working. All I was told was there's work to do, but it's getting there. I always wonder what effect that has in the locker room because obviously for the longest time, the idea of the local discount was very much a thing in that room. Not unlike what it was like in Tampa as well with all of those discounts. You know, once that ends, it kind of ends for everybody, right? It's tough to sell the hometown discount when one player says, nah, I'm not gonna take that. I think it's yes and I think there's no, because we work in a team concept too, right, Jeff and we have something in contracts that says we're not allowed to discuss our contract negotiations with each other. But I think you kind of know, right? I think I kind of have a feeling about where I am in relation to some of my coworkers, for example. This is why Elliott talks down to me. That's right. That's right. You're even lucky to allow you on the same podcast. But the thing is, I've always looked at negotiations with this and I realized I'm not the same as everyone else. Once I sign my deal, you know, I can't be angry about it anymore. I agreed to the deal. And the good things that happen out of it and the bad.

Ah, Roger, stop because I think because what he did for our military I always rape people and what they do for America as well. And you can't take anything from Roger. Roger was actually incredible. Now, what about a CE Faras? The great 30 for Walter Payton. Or Herschel Walker before we talk about Paula, We gotta talk about politics. Not until I get to talk to Herschel Walker, the great Georgia as Faras. The greatest 34 of all time. Water, Peyton or Herschel Walker. Well, this was fun. I'm always educating myself and tell people something they may not know. I'ma pick Walter Payton because people know Walter Payton world First team running back He was the 13 quarterback. He was a second team ponder and that means that he meant a lot to the team's ongoing Walter Payton. Wow. All right, let's talk about a little bit about politics. The presidents of Platinum plan promises to build about a $500 billion investment. After years and liked by Democratic politicians, Black Americans have finally found true advocate and President Trump. According to the polling, Herschel and the last election 2016 the president, the Trumpster got about 8% of the vote. And now some of the numbers I see and raise Muzzin and elsewhere. Has, um, approval rating of 50% among African Americans and among African American males. It's even higher. So speak to those 11 Cincinnati and Columbus and Lexington in Chicago to those 11 Washington, D, C. Or Philadelphia now a riot mode as to why African Americans should vote for the president. Well, The reason I'm goingto Ted after America vote for the president is the lie that they've been here that he's a racist is not true. I've known President Front for 30 37 years, 30 years. He is not a racist and you can see if you go back over time. See that He's more a lot of wars but a different thing he done in Africa America communities and wanted to think that he's doing now. People don't want to given knowledge for us. He's wanted on the president to fund the historical black colleges. Whenever the president has an opportunity to do it, Even we had a black president had two terms and he didn't even do it. But this president to fund a historical black colleges, and then he's won. It brought prison reform in and he didn't do it. Trying to get a boat that was so interested in. He wouldn't pandering to get a vote. Like most people doing today, they're pendant to get a vote. He did it because it was a right pain and do it. Prison reform. He's was one that went on in heat stored opportunity zone. We're trying to empower the African American community, and now he put together platinum plan that he's trying to empower communities. Not time to panic to get a boat. These doing it because it's the right thing to do when he talked about creating three million new jobs over 500,000 new black owned businesses, and he got to do $500 billion in the next four years. Where he wanted to be a doctors and lawyers and educators by giving better education by giving better police and by giving an opportunity for AH African American community to get fun, and I don't know why. Ah people cannot mourn a vote for this president calls he's done what he say he's going to do, even though he's many obstacles in his way with everyone trying to do impeach him. It one talking about legal everyone doing this here. But his president had been getting the job done time in and time out. You know her, So the amazing thing is with the president before he ran for office. He received basically every award. That African American or black organizations could give someone close friend of Al Sharpton. Jesse Jackson gave money to then double P. All of a sudden he starts running for president. He's a racist, which is the go to card for all Democrats. If someone is successful, and they were in the Republican Party, they call them racist. How ridiculous is that? Where that has told his dad is very sad, because when you call a white person all races that they could say you don't want to come back and try to argue with that, And that's the reason I say that you gotta remove politics from sports, You know, think about they would have wiped players in the NFL right now. They don't support a narrative off what the commissioners putting out all of them. There will be called races, so they got to go along with that is cool. I don't think that's right. You know, it's not Santa to just call. You disagree with something over me your raises. I know racism, meals, and it is not nothing like that. "You'd report him. Sure you go right to the league. Oh, look at this guy's this guy's a freak. But walking off man walked off you're making millions of dollars. We're trying to win the Stanley Cup. You've done. You know you're big boy. Let's get the big boy shoes on. You're going to take it once in a while. Really makes them unique coach but I I really only mean at the NHL level. Sure. Sure and it certainly. I don't think it's acceptable anywhere, but it's at least. A, little more reasonable when you're talking about multimillionaires who are adult men it is certainly workable there but I still think it's a lazy way out. You know you've got you've got other hammers. You've got the hammer of ice time have a seat there. There's this pointing and screaming, I think it's to the guys detriment. I think embarrassing a player, one of your key guys by the way embarrassing a player like that. That's not good for you. Either and the guys around him WHO Dubois, they're not feeling real good about the coach either if you're coming unhinged like that, you're sending a real bad subconscious message to the entire team that year coming apart now Dubois had some glitches in that game. The first goal the leafs gone in that Game Dubois is like the last man back as the leafs are scoring, Dubois is closer to the. Toronto Net than his own and that never goes over well to a coach I get that and certainly a little bit of a little bit of a quick little bark at the end of the world. But a screaming match like that Nah I? I'm not a fan. There may be a method to what he's doing. They're saying okay I. This is how I got to work this guy over, and this guy is is is how I'm going to work him. Some may be tough love some maybe bartering border bordering on abusive and other guys be different you know so I don't know. Could be yeah, I mean maybe method to the madness I just see too much fury there for me to say that that's tactical and not just venting that feels good for me to vent on you. I've got a position of power I'm going to wield it. I'm GONNA give to you I'm pissed off a useful I'm GONNA scream at you like a little kid might out somebody that's how I feel when I see John Tortorella doing that because if it was tactical yeah, I guess I get my head around it by just don't see it. A. Little over the top in my opinion. What do you think of the on -Tario Hockey League deciding to return to play they made that announcement today they'll return around the same time. The NHL begins its next regular season. December first is what they're shooting for. Obviously you know they want everything to be kind of in place at that stage They say as long as the player's fan staff and community are able to play in a ten game safely. Kind of goes without saying I would say, but they've gone ahead and. decided on their return to play plan the difference here is that unlike everything else we've generally been talking about what were the return from covid these are amateurs these are kids and he surprised that the decided to do this well I listen I have no issue. With with people saying, here's our plan. Amongst Covet. What we're GONNA. Do I understand that I understand that that? You. Know everyone wants to know what's up here. Okay. What's going to happen here and in this case with junior hockey? Really to be honest though Steve, what what they should be doing as well. We're unable to make a plan. Okay, we can't we can't. We can't. We can't give you a definitive date. and. They shouldn't be doing that. They should say there's no plan to start hockey here until we get this thing under control. Yeah. I think they I think they will pull the plug if there is a scenario where it's unsafe to play just I found it interesting that it's a you know you've got the pros and that's what I've always said is like the biggest overriding thing here is they don't want to lose the billions of dollars that are on the table while there are billions of dollars at stake here but they decided to go in set a date largely because I think they just You know they want to prepare for the best case scenario and if it's not there, I have a feeling ill, just say, okay, this is not going to happen after all. There is one hockey Colbert angle that I wanted to see what you thought about. Back to Jake. Muslin. Fra Second Again, he had to go to the hospital after that hit we talked about. what if he could play like he's out for the series but what if he determined fit to play his Stinger right ear those Stinger Time Oh my God I can't move my arm. It's a an Oh it's fine now I'm one hundred percent I can go. All right. What if he could play? Would you make an exception for Muslin after he had to leave the bubble to go to the hospital or would you say Matt Sorry, you left the bubble therefore you now must undergo the quarantine process you are not eligible to play. That's what you're supposed to do. Right by why everything I know and understand. But it's more sanitary to go to a hospital versus it gets a little different than say if you go back to Europe to see your wife who's giving birth and then being around all these other people in another country, very much not in the bubble and then trying to come back to the NHL after that this is a little different in the US kind of probably went up the street in an ambulance in the very sanitary conditions of the hospital and then back to the hotel. Well I think you're misinformed if you think the hospitals are the most sanitary. I couldn't think. They're not because there's a hospital here I live around the corner from it the Misericordia Hospital. Here in Edmonton and that's shut down. Shut it down because the increase in case in covet. There's so much spreads around in hospitals a it's it's it's not the best place to be. It's not well, they shut down like they're not taking patients you'd know patients no paintings you got to go to a different hospital. Yeah. So you you you can't. Stephen Y'all bid big weekend again that that PJ thing just kinda snuck up on me. Like I never I never. Tells you actually how Little Network Television I watch? Probably like anybody else. I got a million. People I follow on twitter instagram facebook and. Anyway it's here. It's. I usually. I used to stevie calling sick. When majors were on. From work. A. You know that. You know that particularly particularly you know in the in the old days Steve many years ago. speaking of majors I would I would sit down with my dad in the living room. Sort of as a ten or eleven year old. And and my dad would be smoking a cigar. He bought one of the first lazy boy chairs that was ever out there on this thing was like he brought it into the house in this big chair sitting there, and then he goes now watch this and the thing rocks back Stevie and a you know in a little autumn in POPs up from underneath the chair. Oh my God that Jerome Jerome. got. Lazy, boy drums calculate. So he had that going with the big ashtray and cigar, and then he'd get up and turn the TV on, but it would only be to watch the masters. It was it was the week of the Masters Okay no coverage Stevie on. Thursday. No coverage on Friday and you would get a couple hours on Saturday and I believe the same thing on Sunday you get the back nine. On Sunday afternoon. Spin the spin the clock ahead stevie fifty years so. If I would have been eight fifty years ago and it's Wall-to-wall Wall to wall man particular major. A little golf all day all night a kind of a it's kind of neat how you know no matter. What age you are chances are if you're a sports fan, a lot of that love probably came from just sitting down and watching sports when you were real young through your formative years to sit with your dad and and watching sports I've been thinking a lot about my dad of late because unfortunately, he's gravely ill right now down sorry to hear the yeah. Thanks man I appreciate you've been really good about You know the weirdness of my schedule through all our other business ventures and Yeah, so I appreciate that but yeah, I mean, you just think about what makes you a big sports fan and I would hazard a guess that it's that time spent with your dad. That's a big part of why people are still sports fans well, totally totally right. If you if you. Always intrigued me when we did this show of course of you know a big part of it. Of course, is where Lee fans right where we had fun with them. They're everywhere Lee fans are everywhere not only throughout Canada right there. There's just turned festering the country, Steve. Okay, really but but through the world, right around the world that People Watch NHL Hockey the states you know you have been to la I see as many leaf's jerseys when I go, there's I do kings jerseys. So. It was always intriguing to me when we would have young people on the show. Okay. Say a calling when we did t gore and this kid would be twenty two or something like that. Okay and we'd say you know who you turn for. leafs baby leaves all the way and the kid lives in Ottawa. And I'm going well, who who, at that age I get a fifty year old Steve you know who says I grew up with the least just you know to your point I sat had these great memories of watching on Saturday night either the lead or the haves right is what you watched on the weekend. You're old enough to remember that and I'm going well, why would you not be cheering for the senators for God's sakes you were born ten minutes ago in town your hockey team well, my dad was right yeah, I know but you have. The sense we're here by then you know I get it in the win win the Ottawa senators didn't have team. You. Know thirty years ago or whenever it was. Come on dude you know. So it's really you know the the people relief fans. From from know from A. Point of view were doesn't make sense that you're Lee Fan. You know that's Why Great. Forgiveness for any fan who says that is like, well, my dad night or my mom whatever you know that's that we did together we did as a family in that I inherited that love the ones I don't get is like you know situations where you know the kid in the city of Ottawa just a you know shows up and you know he's a penguin fan or something like well, it is your mom or Dad Penguin Fan. No. No I dislike Sidney, Crosby, like what you've got a team and then h you love the NHL, you have a team in your town embrace that was the only those are the only bits of amnesty I give to hockey fans who live in Ottawa and cheer for other teams if their mom or dad kind of brainwash them early on and it was a lot of great memories around that team I get that but I don't get the other stuff. When we grew up, you know it was the same thing. Right? There was only the two teams. Montreal Toronto and Vancouver Right. When I was younger but no-one no-one Vancouver I don't even know where that is. A. Grew up in Sudbury Ontario. and. Yet. Or. Perhaps Fan you know my dad did we watched Leeson halves but My favorite team was Chicago and my brothers was was Boston. So. This sort of goes against the whole thing of the father thing we met Friends of my dad. Jimmy who played for Chicago's I had that connection you know but I remember. How you possibly not sharing for either Toronto Montreal and you're you're Canadian you know. If. I'm if I'm an owner of an NHL Franchise and I see. A scenario like that where guys twenty years old and says, you know what didn't really watch hockey in my household and stuff. But I'm a big Red Wings Fan. I would consider that if I owned the local NHL team here in Ottawa a failing by my organization for not you know getting that guy because it wasn't any family brainwashing going on or any great memories this this this fan just randomly decided on Detroit as his big team because he loved something about them. That to me is a failing of the franchise that is in that town. So just here here's the other thing. Okay. So, so the whole fan thing. Becomes becomes very curious just for the reasons we talked about. It's like. Okay the they've never WANNA cup. In not only in your lifetime almost in my lifetime. So you know generally oiler fans, flames, fans. Boston people hook into that and they're cup champions..

"The two teams had a good Rava replaying many years in Vegas for pre-seasons frozen. Fury should be fun that somebody else had mentioned that. I didn't read the tree twit Christina's. So I'm gonna give you the opportunity here that they did play. I think it was up until twenty sixteen that they did that. So there's odd. Always a reason. See we all think we were smarter than the average. Right. But when a league invests as much money. As much time and actually pay people oughta money to make those types of decisions. They usually have some information or inside dope. The we don't have. So or that we have but we chose to ignore and instead of Christine Oliver who nailed and some of the other people on Twitter the did the same. No question to me that that's a major reason why they're playing in the stadium series. And and I also looked at the stadium series is being more of a local thing than a national thing. And the reason I say that is because and this was an idea had for a long time. And maybe they heard me say and on NHL live back in the day. And they stole the idea is that there are certain teams that are never gonna play ever gonna play in the winter classic, right? But if you created a series in which you can play where it's more on the local side that may be that would give opportunities to teams like the Colorado Avalanche like a team like the Carolina Hurricanes or or the New Jersey Devils, the New York Islanders to get a chance to play outside. So the stadium series was just like that the couple of games the Yankee Stadium back in twenty four. Eighteen gave the islanders devils the chance to play outside. We saw the kings and the ducks play Dodger Stadium a few years ago. Many of the debt gives two teams that never played in winter classic. And may never get a chance to play in the winter classic a chance to play outside at least they've expanded their horizons a little bit for next year's winter classic with Dallas in Nashville playing each other publicity you ever see a scenario in which the hurricanes would play of the Columbus. Blue jackets would play in winter classic probably not but in a stadium series. Then I think there's a very good chance of it happening. So I don't get too caught up who plays in the stadium series as much as I do the winter classic. But a great job to see that they've expanded their horizons of the winter classic. Let's close it out with Troy says if the Los Angeles Kings were to move quick I could see him making a difference in Columbus. Of course. Columbus would have to move Broschi, but quick has been solid in the playoffs and Tortorella coached him before in the World Cup while a couple of things at play here. Quick has been banged up. So I'm not sure if on the blue jackets, I'm going to have faith the quick. Is going to stay healthy. So you're right. He's won a couple of cups. Something is not done because Borowski had his problems in the postseason. If you could tell me quick is healthy. I think that would make the Columbus blue jackets, maybe not necessarily better in the regular season. But I have more faith with them in the postseason. My problem is he's had to lower body injuries. Over the last year. Am I comfortable to know that he will be able to stay healthy for me? So that's something. I'd have to file away. And think about a lot of fun today. We got a couple of games to recap coming up tomorrow. "So I do I think the islanders winning a Stanley Cup is presently constituted. No. But do I think they can make a run. Absolutely. And if you look at Louis history, New Jersey when he believes the team you can make it run. He goes for it. I mean, he went out and got the Gilmore he went out and got Dave Andrew Chucky went on got Alexander Mogilny, you know, sometimes it works. Sometimes it didn't. But loo I think it's an unfair Rapa being conservative because he doesn't throw a lot of money around, but he can be very aggressive at the trading deadline. And I think the honors will make a deal, and I don't think they're gonna be scared off, you know, to to sell off ever leave. Because he's a free agent. If they believe he can help them in the Rondo keep them, and he'll run the risk of losing them. So I do think that they're gonna make a play ranger proud says should the Rangers. Invest and trade for Panara. And I say no because I think there's an excellent chance to get him in free agency. This is very similar to the shattenkirk situation. When the Rangers were a lot better. They could have got shattenkirk on a rental and then sign him full-time after the season or long-term they decided they did not want to lose the first round pick and waited and they ended up getting shattenkirk. I think they're going to do the same with Pinera. They know they're going to be a front runner for him. He's not going to be able to help them this year unless the Rangers go on a huge run and think they can make the playoffs. But as of right now that does not look like it's going to happen. So I think you probably wait Victor says which is more important leaves go for d with the trade of Muhsin or Panara and basically saying he's gone after the year, we should mention that penins agent, basically said no more conversations with the blue jackets. This guy is going to test free agency. So he's gone. I'm not sure the Columbus is still going to trade him because Columbus sits in a position where they can make a run Columbus probably thinking we can finish the top three spots avoid Tampa till the conference final. That's a team. That's never even been out of the first round in franchise history. So I'm not sure the Columbus is gonna trade Panara. And if they do a less your one hundred percent, sure, you're signing a long term. I'm not giving a ton forum now Toronto Chicago, the Rangers all teams that I think Panara will land, but he can't go at all of them. So Toronto is not guaranteed to get him. If they think they can make a run with him than I think they will try to make that run. If they want him long-term, they may wait and sign him in the off season. But be careful how much money do you think you can pay these players Matthews mourner kneeland or you just gave a big deal to? All right. You've got a lot of money that you're going to be allocating to young players negative bring Pinera knee, and he's going to demand a lot of money. Now, they've got room under the cap now. But I got to think about. The future and some of the players that they have a pucks in pug says just listen to Monday's podcast. What would you do in a game with the Sebastian Aho's? Great question, of course to Sebastian Aho's one was playing defense for the your calendars. And of course, one's a star on all star for the Columbus for the Carolina Hurricanes. That's a great question. I would I think you'd have to you have to acknowledge the team the islanders Sebastian Aho takes it up or since you're saying islanders hurricanes. The hurricanes auto the islanders Ohio that would be the way to do it. But boy, would that be a very very difficult thing to have to deal with Christina says just to put my two cents in about the kings being picked to play Colorado in the outdoor game..

"You've got to be leery of. So I don't I don't think we should take away the win because of that factor. I do think that there's some pressure being added by Fletcher saying that they're really no untouchables on the team. So a lot of the players are. Playing knowing that they may be acquired by other organizations. So I don't believe that. There's no pressure in Philadelphia. It is sometimes a little easier to play when it's four something personal rather than for the ultimate team goal of making the playoffs. But only anybody in that room is counting themselves out. Just yet. It's not even February. So I think there is a lot of value to Philadelphia's doing and congratulations to the way that they're playing. We'll see if they can keep it up. David Hynes says as a former devil fan, which uniform color scheme, you prefer the old red and green look or the current red and black. Well, unfortunately, the the green uniforms got dub Christmas trees, and you look back at them. And it's kind of an eyesore liked them at the time. But I do like the addition of black, and I'm not a big fan of of adding black to the jerseys the way all these teams do, but considering the devils have pretty much all of their success with those jerseys. And I think they do look a lot sharper than the Christmas tree jerseys. Although I do like the throwbacks when they do play them. It's very nostalgic, but I wouldn't want to see them. Go back to it full-time. Mark says are there are rumors that is looking to make a deadline deal for the islanders. What what have you heard? And what do you think he might do? Well, he'll do anything if he feels that this team can make a legitimate Ron now, I haven't heard any names specifically. But I believe they're going to be a buyer rather than a seller. Lou when he feels like he's got a good team. Why wouldn't you feel like he's got a good thing there in first place as we start play on January twenty ninth and they'll be in first place tomorrow because nobody's going to catch them with a three point bulge in one day. Is the fact that he sees an opportunity for this team to make a run. I think it's there. I don't think there's anybody. They can't beat Tampa. I would say probably not but everybody else in that given series. I give them a legitimate shot. The way they're playing away Barzel is playing away leaves playing and more importantly the way the goaltending has been and this team hasn't been out of the first round. But once in the lab. Twenty five years when they made that run to the conference final ninety three, you know, opening a new building soon trying to steal some attention. When it looks like the Rangers and devils are not gonna make the playoffs. If the islanders can have that stage by themselves for a month as their winning two series Lucy's value in that. And if you get to the conference final heck, why not Vasa left ski, Mike it hurt. Stamkos may get hurt. Kucherov might get hurt. Who knows we talked about Tampa Bay and the best team in the league? There's no guarantee they go to the conference final..

"Whether we're going off the post or the was saved by the goaltender sometimes trying to figure out where the puck is watching on television. It's been a bit of a problem. I thought FOX's was over the top. But that was twenty something years ago, and obviously back then the technology wasn't the same. So I do think there's some value to the glowing pock you don't lose it in certain areas that some of the angles it's behind the board. You can't see it. Or if the pucks underneath the goaltender where where it is in the the soup of bodies between the crease in the slot and in front of the goaltender. I just thought. Fox's was over the top as far as San Jose. We talked to EJ they did terrific job at thought the three on three was great. My only complaint is considering that it was played in the Pacific that the Pacific Division should went second. So you didn't have that awkwardness of those three shark players in Pevez sqi and burns. Not playing in the second game and then being gone right away. And in two games being played without all the sharks in the lineup. So I didn't like that. At all, Chris. Hey, Don, another impressive win for Carter heart last night. How much of his and the team's recent success is due to the pressure being off since they all but out of the playoff contention and the opposition overlooking them or is the team finally putting it together islander the opposition's. Overlooking them I mean, maybe you can make that case for Winnipeg. But I think going into Philadelphia's always kind of got people on guard because the history of it, and and I mentioned before Philadelphia may be struggling, but you still have Cluj through one of the best players in the league Fletcher said one of the best players in the history of the flyers organization. I wouldn't go that far. But he did say it, you know, and they've got nice players..

"I think's gonna be important. So when a plague Winnipeg will play the second back tobaks, they'll be in Boston tonight to take on the Bruins Bruins, of course. Coming off their bye as well. Their last game was way back earlier in the month when they lost to the Rangers that Saturday night at home sabres, they still have a chance to make the playoffs tough task that they're going to take on the Columbus. Blue jackets trying to make sure they could keep pace with the islanders for first place in the metro and the flyers and the Rangers Rangers kind of the same boat. It's Philadelphia doesn't look like it's going to happen this year. But the Rangers have won three in a row winnable game tonight with Philadelphia behind them in standings, second back to back for Philadelphia Rangers take on the New Jersey Devils coming up Thursday, and then a huge test on Saturday at home against the best team in the league the Tampa Bay Lightning but winning three in a row before the break Rangers playing a little bit better. Duke has been good, obviously, savannah Janet it's been good Rangers going to play with seven defensemen tonight because Pablo butchnevich has been benched as coach Quinn said he just didn't like the way he was playing a going into the break. So the Rangers for maybe the third or fourth time this year will go light at the forward position this time by choice. So Smith will be back in the lineup for the blue shirts as they try to make it four in a row. And again, even if it's just 'cause medically trying to show the fans what next year could be like zoo continues to play while certainly he'll be an ill be in a position where he can win some games for this organization. But also be trading piece. Same thing with Kevin Hayes as well as Kevin Hayes had not played the previous nine games going into the break because of the upper body injury. You know, the feeling is is that he's got a chance to get a little healthier here. And then once he does prove that he's healthy that he is going to be able to hit the ground running. And and be a trade bait for the Rangers. He is going to be in the lineup tonight. He is going to center the second line between VC and Houten. So the Rangers line are gonna be like this, of course, Zabana Jad and Kreider in cough, who's playing well in the first half of the season will now be on the top line Hayes between VC and how strong who's played well between heated and fast, and then it'll be McLeod, and and and Boonie EVA's rounding out the bottom part as the foot infection for Mazzarella was going to keep him out. So that's a bit of a problem as far as the tradings concern. Although he was red hot doesn't look like the foot infection is serious clayson still has the shoulder injury. So those are the banged up situation for the New York Rangers as they look for their foreign row and Philadelphia looking for their sixth in a row house here from you at down the Greco hashtag game has conduct on L says what up Don love your show. My question is how did you like the all star game this past weekend? Did you think San Jose did a good job? "That game misconduct podcast with Don league-record and welcome to the Tuesday edition of game is conduct. I am the Greg. Let's get right to it. Major trade the NHL last night Muhsin goes from Los Angeles to the Maple Leafs. And we've talked about it plenty of times drop the wants to make a serious run at a Stanley Cup. They had to improve their defense more. Specifically, a stay at home defenceman. We'll Muslim comes in. It's got twenty one points on the season. He's not slouches far as offenses concern, you know, play on top pairing with Riley. So there's a lot of production that that defensive units gonna give you, but they've gotta find somebody outside of Ron Hansie who's thirty seven years old that could be a guy that could stand up forwards at the blue line that can go after the best forward on the other team, matchup wise. I mean, they were gonna lose every match of Toronto in the playoffs. It gets really good team because they didn't have anybody to go up against you know, the top line for Boston team. They're likely going to play in the first round. How do you stop Sidney Crosby of getting Malik? And how do you stop Alexander Ovechkin and nNcholas Backstrom? How do you stop stamkos and kucherov? If you wanna make run to the Stanley Cup final. So I'm not saying that Muhsin cures all ills. But it makes a lot of sense now first round pick and some prospects. That's pretty juicy but Muslims under contract through next year. It's a management deal as far as the cap is concerned a four point six million dollars. And I'm sure the Toronto will consider after the nineteen twenty season. Whether they want to bring. Him back. We'll see where the calorie salary cap structure is going to be and what ends up happening with some of their free agents. But it's not like, it's a rental. You have them for a run this year and next year and may have the wherewithal to keep him around Muslim. Of course was part of to Stanley Cup championships with the Los Angeles Kings. So he's been there. He's done that. These are the types of moves teams have to make now on the surface. When you think about defense been that I want to make a run I'm not sure Jake Muhsin was on like the top list of fans out there who said that's going to be the difference between winning Stanley Cup or not. But certainly he had been on the radar of many general managers around the league Toronto makes the move. And now they've improved themselves with the acquisition of Taveras during the off season which bolstered their offense big time and has allowed them to fight through some of the injuries. They've had with Matthews with the holdout of Neil Lander. And now they get themselves study defenseman the acquisition of Hanes. He was also a good one last year. So you sprinkle in the offense with sites with Riley with Gardner, and now you've got. To stay at home guys. But Muslim as I said could produce some offense in any given year this guy that can give you forty fifty points on on Toronto. This is a guy that can be a stay at home defenseman that could score north of fifty points on this team. So I think the acquisition was good. We've seen in recent years that the trade deadline is just a mere suggestion that it seems like a lot of deals get done way before the deadline. So even before we get into February. We're seeing these deals get done so slightly under a month before the deadline Toronto, they sound the bell. I and now we'll see who else. Decides to follow will Boston trying to make a move now to try to keep up with Toronto to try to get that home ice advantage in the first round who else in the Eastern Conference is gonna make a deal. What's Pittsburgh going to do another loss for the penguins last night? They cannot beat the devils on a bet six Owen one New Jersey against Pittsburgh over the last couple of years, including all three meetings this year being devil wins. So just it's crazy that the devils a team. That listen last year. I guess it makes sense because they were a playoff team. But the doubles do not look like a playoff team this year and still own a playoff team. But this Pittsburgh think about making move to solidify a plow spot. What is Washington do as they seem to be in free fall?.
