"Blackout how the NFL blocks black coaches, the bottom line, two decades after the Rooney rule that was supposed to lead to more black coaches being hired in the NFL. They're still being denied the top jobs. This in the league were 60% of the players are black. The investigation by the post finding that there were numerous paths for white coaches to get the top spot, but not so for black coaches. Washington Post sports enterprise reporter Michael Lee joined our Dell Walters to discuss the post's findings. I think for some people, it's sort of status quo. It's not something you're conscious of or something you're aware of. I think that one of the things that we're going to examine through the course of this entire series is the biases that sort of lead to a lot of decisions that are made. I think one of the things we focused on is that this is a copycat league and in recent years, owners have tried to find the latest young offensive guru to sort of lead their franchise. You see the success of Sean mcvay and the owner just want to copy that and in the process of trying to find the next they look alike. You're not going to find a black person to fill their role. But the one thing that we really try to focus on is that obviously this year, with Brian Flores suing the NFL, this is sort of a monumental kind of moment where now the league is put on alert and everyone is sort of has to pay attention to what's been going on for a long time. You know, from our conversations and my conversation with a lot of coaches, the morale among black coaches is probably the lowest that it's been. You got to think back 20 years to the establishment of the Rooney rule. Which was the only black coach for a stretch. And Johnny Cochran and Cyrus Mary were prepared to sue the NFL. Because there was only one black coach. But let me ask you this. Because you mentioned Brian Flores, and with Brian Flores, you had a coach that took a team that was losing. The Miami Dolphins, and he turned them into a winning team, and he still lost his job. Yeah, because he wasn't playing along with the plan to tank and try to lose games. He actually did with the owner didn't want to do, which was that success. When I knew the situation, but the weird thing about Brian Flores situation two that he was given three seasons. And before this year, the previous 5 black coaches who were hired, three of them were only given two years or fewer. David culley was given one year, Steve will give one year advance Joseph was given two years. So when you look at the opportunities that black coaches are given is not even like they have an opportunity to build anything and have any success. So you've taken over rebuilding situations, teams where you're trying to draft the number one pick or and then you lose and you're basically just there as a place filler. That's what's been happening over the last decade. That is Washington Post sports enterprise reporter Michael Lee. Coming up right here on WTO, Jimmy G to the commanders. It reportedly almost happened. 1113 he knew

"Everyone can agree Doug Peterson is definitely definitely a massive, massive upgrade from urban Meyer last year in Jacksonville. The U.S. and Texans have hired levy Smith to be their next head coach. This one's kind of a head scratcher because it made firing David culley make even less sense. I still don't know why they fired David cully last year after one year when I thought he actually overachieved and did better than I thought he would. Lovely Smith is not a terrible coach. He once took the Chicago Bears to a Super Bowl, so I don't know. He also had a really, really legendary great defense back then. And the Texans do not have a great football team. And levy Smith was also a head coach in Tampa. That didn't work. He got fired after two years. He coached in college at Illinois, 5 years, never once had a winning record like, I don't know that he's the guy who's gonna turn around and save the Texans organization and I really think what happened was they fired David culley hoping to get a top coach and when they couldn't, they kind of panned and were like, well, what can we do? Well, hey, lovie Smith is our defensive coordinator last year. He's been a head coach before. Let's just promote levy Smith. I think that's literally what happened. They're like, well, we're not getting any of the names we want. I guess let's go and settle for lovey Smith. And it's not like they went out and found the guy. They didn't recruit and then it just kind of settled and it feels like lovely Smith was a backup plan, which makes me feel bad for lovey Smith because I don't think he was heavily wanted and I don't think he's being set up to win. So I just, I look at Houston and kind of cringe and go, oh, that's not a great situation and I don't feel good for him. In Houston. Finally, the Giants hired Brian dabel to be their next head coach. I absolutely love this hire. He was the office of the coordinator in Buffalo. He developed Josh Allen from a rookie into the elite quarterback he is today. And similar to Denver, the Giants need help with the quarterback position, Brian dabel, perfectly helps them address the quarterback position. I'm excited for that. I'm hopeful, I'm excited. All the guys in Buffalo loved Brian dabel and I think the Giants got it right this time. I feel pretty good about almost every hire. I've got concerns about Josh mcdaniel. Matt ebert flew, I feel bad for lovey Smith. I feel bad for Dennis Allen. Most of the coaches that were hired reflect the direction, the NFL is headed, which is the quarterback position is more important than ever in football and almost every coach that was hired. Was directly hired to address the quarterback position and that makes a lot of sense to me. I think that's a good school of thought. I think Kevin O'Connell's got a lot of potential Minnesota with good players there. And Kevin O'Connor really excited to meet Mike mcdaniel..

13 in his only season with the Texans Colleen had previously served as an assistant head coach of the Baltimore Ravens And Novak Djokovic has effort to play in the Australian open despite being unvaccinated for COVID-19 moved to a higher court as the number one ranked tennis player appealed the second cancellation of his Visa With the Bloomberg sports update I'm Tom Rogers This is masters in business with very revolts on Bloomberg radio My extra special guest this week is Jim mckelvey He is the cofounder of square along with his colleague Jack Dorsey He is an independent director at the Federal Reserve bank in St. Louis He is also the author of a book the innovation stack building an unbeatable business one crazy idea at a time Jim mckelvey welcome to Bloomberg Thank you Barry Actually I'm now the chair of the St. Louis fed You are the chair of the president Not the president No I don't get to vote on that interest rate I get to vote on the little interest rate That's fascinating We'll talk about that in a bit but let's start out with your background and I have to begin by asking you a question What's the difference between an entrepreneur and a business person These days nothing because the word is the same But originally the word entrepreneur meant somebody in business who was doing something different Very different So we're talking about the Wright brothers trying to build the first airplane or somebody who you thought was crazy These days entrepreneur has sort of lost that original meaning and it means just anybody who starts a business But the problem with that is that you can't then talk about how different it is to do something where you're not copying what everybody else is doing and trying to invent something yourself So let's stay with that theme because if I were to go to Jim mckelvey dot com on your site there's a big banner that says do something that has never been done Explain what you mean by that Yeah so there's a lot of talk about how we like to be innovative and how we like to be creative and people are supposed to like that And I've never been comfortable doing that although I've done it occasionally And I wanted to address the fact that it's actually really scary to do something where you don't have any peers where you don't have any validation where you don't have anybody else when you look around and say well they're doing it too so it must be sort of okay If you're doing entrepreneurship in its classical definition you're doing something that is going to be very very scary to you on almost a biological level because humans are hurt animals We like to be in a group right I was a big fan of mutual of Omaha's wild kingdom Yes And there was always that shot of the herd of whoever gazelles zebra that one zebra on the outskirts of you know what happens It was me I was I was always away from the herd and lunch for the Lions Yeah My schooling So that raises a lot of really interesting questions Beginning with why is silicon's focus on disruption so misguided I think looking at disruption which is this term that we really use to death in Silicon Valley is it's a bad focus because if you're looking to disrupt it puts your eye on the thing you're trying to disrupt So we're going to disrupt healthcare Okay yeah there's a lot of stuff wrong with healthcare What do you want to disrupt But if you spend your time looking at what you want to destroy it triggers that copying function in your head that says oh I should do this I should do that And you start becoming indoctrinated into the thing that you're trying to destroy And so I believe you should kind of ignore the thing that you are replacing and just focus on the problem that you're trying to solve And then you get this sort of weird thing because you know square which we now call block has always been called a very disruptive company but I actually ran the numbers on the number of companies that we wiped out American Express Visa They're all make a card right You killed all of them We haven't disrupted anything We knocked a few isos into sort of more honestly pricing their products But even they're still around I mean we didn't destroy much What we did instead was we created a new market And we're going to talk a lot about square coming up but here's another quote of yours I really enjoyed chaos is a good thing Explain Chaos is where you get new ideas Chaos is that it's this moment that it puts your brain into a different form of thinking So if you've got a pattern matcher which we're all pattern matches and you see these patterns and you don't think you do the things automatically You go through most of life on autopilot As you should But occasionally something goes wrong And it's weird And things are not working like they should be And that puts your brain into this different state And so I say chaos because it's a little scared to think of chaos but it's also a very good creative place That makes a lot of sense Let me give you one other quote of yours reward loyal customers now or risk losing them Tell us what that means and then I'll share an anecdote with this So there's a different pricing power.

"Clear respect there was between Georgia and Alabama the entire game and the entire year. And that moment, if you know, I'm not a huge Kirby smart fan. I think it's kind of the way he speaks. And so something about him, I'm not very interested in. But that was a moment where he showed his true character and I was like, oh, oh wow. Like that's a guy who, you know, he didn't put himself first when he could have been celebrating a national championship victory. He was actually picking up an opponent and it gives me goosebumps to think about, wow, wow, we learned a lot about Kirby smart at that moment. It's unbelievable. Hey, what other moment I want to talk about? There was a moment where as Jalen hurts was leaving the field against Washington earlier this year. The stands, he's walking starting to walk through the tunnel and the stands to his left collapse and fall at his feet and he actually almost got like maybe a career ending injury where if that lands on his leg, he's done so. And now, thankfully, he avoided the hit, and then what happened was there was a bunch of fans now eagles fans, by the way, laying on the ground. Probably in pain, they fell 5 feet on their side. It's kind of crazy and that's a massive problem. The state of up here is to be falling apart in Washington. But I want to give a lot of credit to Jalen hurts because in that moment, it's a stressful moment. It's a high tense moment. Do you know how strangers falling at your feet and you almost got your leg clipped? And what jaylen did was diffuse the situation. He was gracious. He was kind. He ended up helping up eagles fans, giving them a hug and turned him up could have been a very scary alarming high tense stressful situation. Jalen hurts, calmed it down. And handled it well and positively. And if that doesn't say a lot about who he is as a quarterback, beyond his accuracy and decision making, but how he handles that kind of moment. That's the kind of guy I want to my quarterback. A guy who doesn't panic who doesn't run away, but instead it's not only his immediate reaction was to be calm, collected, empathetic, he diffused a very tense situation and it says a lot about him as a quarterback and as a person. And it's a highlight of the year for me watching Jalen hurts that I haven't had a chance to talk about, 'cause it's kind of a weird moment, but I really was like, wow. It's a very, very impressive thing to see from the eagles quarterback, Jalen hurts. Guys, I love you. I appreciate you. Thank you for listening. I've now talked for 40 something minutes. That's the whole show for the day for today. I love you. I appreciate you have a great day, but I'm bam, we are done..

I don't know why. I don't know what's going on. Maybe just because I talk all the time all day long, I have no idea I really don't. But today's episode 445, let's jump in. I want to talk about wild card weekend. There are 6 games this weekend to kick off the NFL playoffs. I want to make my predictions tell you who I think will win each game. First, there are two games on Saturday, the Raiders that Cincinnati and the Patriots at buffalo. Now, the Raiders have had a wild year. It's been kind of a magical run. They've overcome a lot of really hard stuff to deal with as a team. Unfortunately, because I like them. I got nothing but love for the Raiders and what they've done and the way they've overcome everything. Unfortunately, the magical run is gonna come to an end on Saturday. I believe the Bengals will beat the Raiders the Raiders secondary is the main concern to me. I think Cincinnati is going to light them up. Joe burrow, the starting quarterback in Cincinnati, who is very quickly becoming a top 5 quarterback in the NFL. He's going to have a big day. He's got Jamar chase, T Higgins, Tyler Boyd. It's going to be a fun matchup to watch. I guess really the Bengals defensive line. Against the Raiders offensive line. That's the Raiders D line is good. I'm curious how the Raiders often like can handle them. But Cincinnati is going to win on Saturday. Excuse me, games on Saturday. And Jamar chase, man, it's going to have a really big day. Unless all the Bengals receivers get injured and something crazy happens Cincinnati should win this game on Saturday. Number two, the Patriots at buffalo. This is my only pick from wildcard weekend that you.

"All. He could play the Z to X zebra do it. Whatever you want him to play the F he does all many different things. So we talked about Mike Evans and go around. We talked about hunter run phone and his ability to win one on one routes in the red zone. Cooper Cup in the choice route. This is him. You're gonna get that motion key to go bunch left, F right now. This is him on that choice right, okay? Sets the defender inside, breaks away. Now you got to teach us. What is he doing in this choice route that is so important? Well, he's getting leverage, but he also understands what the defense of trying to do. Okay, okay. He understands patience. He didn't blow. He kind of took his time. Why is he taking his time? Well, because he wants everything to separate. Okay. What's this defender to get to his third? He wants to find out if he's coming to the flat. He's moving to the flat slope. If he decides to go right now? Yeah. Cooper Cup make fake out of go back in. Okay. He understands that that's the patience of the beauty of a smart route runner. Well, it's funny right after the catch is even more impressive. It's funny that you talked about that defender because now you've got Cooper Cup. This is going to be him on the right side again. Yeah. And you've got that very similar formation and that defender is going to be in a very similar place. Yes. That defender was for San Francisco. Tell me the difference now. Now, this defender goes across his face now? The defendant thinks I'm really smart I watch film. Oh, I know what this is. I've seen this personnel grouping. I've seen this formation. Now all he's running in F angle gives him just a little bit. See what I told you before? Yeah. He's going to do what I need him to do like a trained dog. Right. Simply, bam cope puts that there across his face. The rest is history. So he goes bang and instead of going out so he said you're saying like he sets him out, but instead of going there, take the defender where you kind of want him to go? Yes. And then win? Yes. What's the difference though for you guys when you're running that choice route running off of leverage or getting you in the leverage that exactly wants you to be? Getting in the leverage that I need you to be. Okay. You're gonna do it, I take it with my body. Even if you inside and I need to set you up, I'm a go inside, set you up and break up. Vice versa. Mike Evans undergo renfrow winning down in the red zone. We need to get you an untucked sponsorship. That's what we need. Hey, Keith starting to sweat over there. By the way, the DV's watching this are like, what? What's he talking about? Let's get to the chiefs who face off against the Steelers this weekend. Patrick Mahomes is one 9 of the last ten games to finish the regular season after a tough start to the year. One of those wins at 36 to ten victory over Pittsburgh back in week 16 mahomes was asked how he's getting ready for the rematch. Obviously, they're going to take away the stuff that they did good against us. And then they're going to try to change stuff that they didn't have as much success with. So, I mean, they have a lot of good, really good coaches over there. They have a lot of really good players. And they've played and playoff games. They understand that how to change stuff up. They understand that go back to what they're great at. And so we're expecting a battle. We'll be ready to go. And we're going to try to find answers for everything because they're going to throw all different pitches to us. And we have to be able to respond and have success as much as possible. Marcus steelers well aware of the tall task ahead of them with this chief's offense. If they want to have a chance on Sunday, what do they have to do defensively against mahomes? But give me and you started on SEC nation together a long time ago. And I'm about to say something you real familiar with. If you have to blitz, you're dead, okay? That's the bottom line and the Pittsburgh Steelers will have to be able to get after the passer with four man rush. I know we say it a lot. It's simplicity in that, but that is the best course of action. They tried to get after Patrick Mahomes and send extra pressure and he gutted them to the 230 plus points, but if you know these guys are friends, the onus is on TJ watt defensive player of the year. The onus is on cam Haywood. The onus is on high Smith. They have to wreak as much havoc against this offensive line when it's a dropback pass situation in order to let minka Rome a little bit. Mika Fitzpatrick, the safety for the Steelers, let him roam a little bit use them as a robber use them as a guy to show disguise. But if they got to bring him down in that box. And if they got to add a 6 man to the pressure on 7 man to the pressure to try to generate getting Patrick Mahomes on the ground, we'll be saying by the Big Bang y'all. Hey, this season, though, Patrick Mahomes threw 7 interceptions under pressure that's tied for the most in the NFL. Yeah. All right, let's talk about some coach openings. Currently, 6 teams around the NFL actively searching for the next head coach, the dolphins, Jags, Broncos, giants, Vikings, and bears, there's actually 7 teams because this afternoon we added the Houston Texans to that list. Adam Schefter is back with us here. Adam, what led to the decision to fire David culley in Houston? Well, you didn't include the Las Vegas Raiders either Laura who were on their intermittent coach rich pistachio making it 8 right now. There's a lot and there could be more. Who knows, we'll see what happens here moving forward, but essentially the Houston Texans fired David culley today. They had the worst offense in the league, but the truth matters, he was set up to fail. He didn't have his quarterback deshaun Watson this year. He didn't play for that team. And if you don't have your star quarterback and you're not going to play him when he's under contract, the coach is in position to fail. And the Texans knew that when they hired David culley, it was advertised as a 5 year contract. They guaranteed only two years worth of money and there were multiple people around the league who believed that David culley was brought in as a bridge a placeholder. Somebody to just keep the seat warm until the Texans could go higher. The head coach that they wanted to hire, whether that's Brian Flores, whether that's drawed mail, whether that's Josh McDaniels, we'll see what the Texans decide to do. They're also people who believe that they waited this long because they wouldn't have made the move unless they knew that they had a good handle on the head coach that they did want to hire eventually, which is why today, four days after the season ended, they moved on from David culley at this point in time. They also fired his offensive coordinator Tim Kelly, who David culley wanted to keep on staff, but the Texans didn't want Tim Kelly either. So they fired him. They fired David culley and an organization that's been unstable in recent seasons continues to be that way around the NFL. Also, what's the news out of the Vikings GM search? Well, if Viking gyms are they have cast a wide net at this point in time Laura, they've reached out to a number of candidates. The most notable candidate that they've reached out to his Catherine rache are the Philadelphia Eagles front office. She now becomes the first woman believed to interview for a general manager job, which is saying something we've seen the strides that woman have begun to start making in the NFL officiating, coaching, front offices. Well, now they've reached out to Catherine Reich in the eagles for an office. She is going to be interviewing for the Vikings, general manager job, certainly notable that they will be bringing her in and talking to her. There's been one other female general manager in 1983, the eagles, but that was the daughter of the owner. So I don't know that it counts quite the same as this particular interview that's being arranged. Yeah, slightly different there. I got to tell you, I got chills the second that you said that news about Catherine Rach and everybody in here is saying that's really cool. So great news there, Adam, thanks so much. I had on NFL live. We got more coming from Dan and Marcus. They're going to hit the touch screen, show us what the forty-niners are doing in the trenches to slow down offenses and why that may matter this weekend. "Don't think this is going to look a whole lot like what people think it's going to look like. As far as the Texans go, I mean, look, it's a strange place that they find themselves in. We'll see what they do with the coach, but it seems like they found the quarterback or not necessarily a franchise quarterback, but the quarterback you go into next year starting and you know sort of keeping open mind to this guy might be our franchise quarterback. Yeah, I thought that was, you know, at the beginning of the year when we were all doing our season preview stuff, I said that if the Texans won more than a game and they were able to leave going, okay, we can keep Davis mills on the roster. I think that was a huge victory. Especially if they had to play Davis mills a lot. But I think he's good. And if the plan is what, you know, it seems like the plan in Houston, which is either to, you know, maybe they'll keep David culley. I mean, we'll probably know as soon as the podcast is posted in the morning. But if they don't to bring in a patriots esque assistant familiar with that kind of erhard Perkins, offense, he gets rid of the ball really quickly. You know, I think there is, you know, it's weird. It's like a it's like a tall, I don't know, like I haven't seen a player like him where it's like a really quick release. It's a solid frame. You sort of unique in that way. But I think there's something something there. I mean, you know, he's not going to be able to evade pressure really well. We saw that a couple of times actually during this game. But there's something there. I mean, you know, New England's doing it with Mac Jones. I think that, you know, I think the Texans could move the ball with Davis mills. It's just like if you dropped him into this draft class coming up and I don't want to sort of make a final say on this drive class and whatever day this is January 10th. But yeah, I just don't see a prospect coming out this year and I watch the fair amount of those guys at this point. I don't see a prospect coming out this year where you say, okay, this guy is a better chance of basically surpassing Davis mills. I think there are guys who can look at and say, ceiling is higher, but I don't think like percentage chance of becoming a franchise quarterback. I don't think you're gonna top Davis mills with any of the guys in this year's class. No, I agree. I mean, it makes sense. I mean, you know, I think you could see why he fell to the third round there. I think it was a nice value pick up by the Texans at the time, was really, I mean, that was the only pick they could have made. I mean, it didn't look like they really had any other options with what Deshawn Watson in that situation looked like at the draft at that point. And so I thought it was one of those things where it kind of fell into their laps. It looked good at the time. And it ended up working out. I mean, Tim Kelly, too, you know, I got a few eye rolls at this, but you know I had him on my preseason future head coaches list..

"And he like shows up at a boat. And he's like, come on with me, and I'll show you three islands today that you can purchase, you know? Where are they? Where do they do this? Where are these islands? I mean, everywhere, like in the in the Caribbean. There's just a lot of violence. I think there was one, I want to say it was somewhere off the coast of Maine. Okay, like maybe off in the Chesapeake somewhere, you know, but yeah, like people purchasing their own islands for recreational usage. And then I guess like the real meat of the show is how they get all the every show is like, oh I can't get lumber here because I like trying to live on an island, but that's the hook. You know, I can't get electricity here, I'm angry and it's like, well, you're living in the middle of the ocean. It's like, yeah, it seems like there are a lot of logistical issues that you should have considered before you did that. We'll see how David culley approaches it in a year or two. Season 13 or 14. Yeah. But yeah, I think I almost think you had to. If you were Nick casario, right? You approached this as, I mean, nobody's going to get in my face for two years here. This thing is as bad as bad can get. And then if I don't know who it is, you know, I think everybody's just kind of assuming it's Josh McDaniels because and they're creating patriot south down there. I don't know. I mean, I think Brian dabel has worked with the Patriots and Nick casario. I think that could be a guy. I think he interviewed for the job last year too if I'm not mistaken along with Leslie Frazier. But I think that there's a reality here that if you're casario, it's probably like, okay, I've got to say in things here, I'm running things kind of the way I want them. This guy way over coached this team to where Rex burkhead is mashing the Chargers. Like let's just hold on to him for one more year and then maybe this windfall of other, you know, maybe it makes the job a little bit more attractive and we see what we have in Davis mills and we can go from there. But I wouldn't surprise me if there was like a patriot adjacent. Person there that they were just like, all right, let's just make sure this guy's ready to roll. Seattle is another one that, you know, look, if Russell Wilson does go, does Pete Carroll want to be there for like a two or three year rebuild when he is over the age of 70 at this point. So that might open up for that reason. I'm not even sure where they go at this point. If the court running the coach leave, you have a full on reset because I don't know, I don't know what that roster's identity is if you take Russell Wilson away from it. Yeah, I mean, I wrote this, I think it was the game that Russell Wilson hurt his hand and first got the fracture. What was the name of the fractured?.

"It's kind of funny to think about. But that kind is what it feels like. Yeah, I would assume that this isn't necessarily a game plan where the Patriots are gonna feel like they need to blitz a ton to affect Davis mills. I think Davis mills is gonna give it up to them regardless of they put a ton of pressure on them or not. So maybe a game plan where they're similar to what they did last week against Tampa Bay, honestly, where they have the safety in the middle of the field and the deep middle and they have another player in the middle of the field, the rat defender, if you will, whether it's from the linebacker level or another safety like miles Bryant rotating into the box into that role. You put two kind of help defenders in the middle of the field so that all JC Jackson has to do is play bump and run on the outside and make sure that Brandon cooks doesn't beat him on a go ball. That's pretty much all he's got to worry about. He's got help in the middle of the field at both the intermediate and deep levels. Sharp Brandon cooks could catch a little drag rat or a three step slant or something like that underneath the defense, but then you just make the tackle. So that to me is probably going to be a similar game plan as to what it was. Last week, the Patriots really putting a lot of praise on this Tampa Bay are this Houston receiving corpse. They blow smoke up the opponent every single week. So this is something else, though. I think they said it was the best one of the best receiving groups are gonna face all year or something like that. So yeah I look great at cooks next is as much as the next guy, but it's calmed out. Yeah. So it was a weird typical ballot check pumping up the opponent type stuff. So yeah, I think this is gonna be a very big one rat type of coverage for the Patriots. JC Jackson just jam Brandon cooks and make sure you don't get beat on the go ball. And you'll have help to the inside on some of the other in breaking stuff that they run with Brandon cooks, posts, deep overs, things like that. And just make Davis mills look like Davis mills, right? That's really all it has to happen here in this game and they probably win this game. Regardless of what is offensive line. Right. If they lose it's because it's a massive breakdown upfront offensively. Anything short of that, there's no reason for them to lose this game. Yeah. They will have to worry a little bit about outside zone running in this game. David culley coming from Baltimore, knows how to scheme it up in the run game from being with Lamar Jackson and the ravens. He obviously doesn't have Lamar Jackson. Texans had Tyrod Taylor starting in this game and be a lot more interesting to be honest with you..

"Real quick, let's talk about the Texans head coach. David culley. I remember David culley. The first time I heard his name as a potential hire for the Houston Texans, I was like, oh, the heck is this guy? What's happening? And I remember dogging on the guy 'cause his name was not in the conversation with any other NFL teams. And he was the passing game coordinator in Baltimore, and I remember thinking, well, Paul tumor doesn't even throw the ball very well. Why are we, how is this guy getting elevated? And then last week I watched David culley make a really weird call in game where they chose to just someone can look it up. It was like a third and 15, they got a penalty. It's just bizarre in game decision for David Coley against Cleveland and I'm like, I can't tell if David culley is gonna be a good coach. I just really I look at what he's done, I look at who he is. I'm like, I just, I don't know yet. But what I can say is the more I watch and listen to David culley as a human being, the way he interacts with his players on the sideline. The more I listen to him and observe him, the more I like him. David culley seems like the kind of guy I'd want to play for. I mean, really, I love the way it interacts with this player is with his young quarterback Davis mills is getting in his head. I'm pumping him up. I got really, that's awesome. And clearly, David Coley cares a lot about winning about his players about relationships. I like seeing that. And again, I can't tell yet if David culley is going to be a good NFL hit coach. I don't know. But I find myself more and more just rooting for him. He seems like a really likeable human being. And he gave a great quote, I don't know if it's because he plans on retiring after the Houston Texas opportunity. I don't know if I don't know what his plan is. But he said, I'm done being an assistant coach. He told John harbor, the coach and Baltimore when he left, he said, you're the last time I'll ever be. You're the last coach you'll ever be an assistant to. So David Coley is getting to the end of his career. I think if he gets fired by Houston, he probably just retire based on that, quote. And I think he's got like, I got nothing to lose. I'm taking one last shot at it going for my career having this amazing opportunity to be an NFL head coach and I got a kind of admire the guy for his spirit the way he goes about it. And like I said, that quote, saying, I'm not going to be an assistant head coach ever again. I think that's very telling a David culley sees us as his final opportunity to make kind of a lasting impact in the NFL, whether it works or not..

"I just think the Patriots have the ability and I don't think they're quite as buffaloes quite as talented at the linebacker position as everyone makes them out to be, to be a really great defense. And I think the Patriots have had the ability with Joshua Daniels and their scheme to really do some damage against that defense. Talked about it last night. I've got buffalo. Let's go to the AFC north overrated. Jadeveon Clowney's impact on the brown's defense. I can't believe people still talk about Clowney. I mean, like he's some sort of impact player. But when has he ever made an impact? Where? Like, what has he done? And I'm reading, I'm doing research last night. I'm reading stories about the browns and people are bringing up, oh yeah. Clowney on the other side of miles Garrett and, you know, this and that and like, dude, he's gonna be hurt half the season. He's gonna play like 6 games. He's gonna cash checks. That's what he's good at, he's good at cashing checks, and I can't believe people keep giving him chances over and over again to really be a starter, but yeah, he's in a good position. It could this finally be the year where he delivers on his talent? Yeah, but at this point you kind of who you are who you are. And to me, that's wildly overrated. Mike Tomlin. I've been saying it for years. Mike, Tomlin. On the road against mediocre teams that they should beat. Look at the collapses in the last three to 5 years. I mean, it has become a trend for the Steelers to get off to a very good start to only stink it up in the end, getting blown out at home last year by the Cleveland Browns, Mike Tomlin's overrated. Underrated Greg. Underrated. How over his head, David culley is actually I mean, we haven't seen like hold on. Hold on, that's AFC south. We're the north. Oh, sorry. When are we in the north? We're in the north. No, no. Oh, yeah, yeah. Okay, sorry underweight. Sorry, I jumped ahead. We all feel bad for David Kelly. We'll get to that in a couple minutes. Yeah, we'll get to that in a second..

You know when you have major football decisions you should be hearing from the person in charge of football and that nick caserio And i expect him to take the reigns and run with it both today And in the future. Nick should be their social cal. So so is this normal. I mean when's the last time. An owner of some sort wasn't in a press conference for a new coach. Sixty five years old getting his first chance on a franchise. It's in disarray. Why wouldn't the owner show up and and put his arm around him and show support I think because this is.
