"With Danny and Chris I'm David Caplan. 3123323776 is our phone number. So California is a state where weed is legal. Illinois is a state where recreational weed is legal. I don't know if it's legal in Florida. But An overwhelming percentage of N ba players do use wheat. Do you guys think the n BA should be facilitating it or looking the other way so that players can get their weed into the bubble? Here's the Thing Capital Not legal in Florida. It's Lee legal medically, but it's not decriminalized like it here is here in Illinois, where you could just go in the store and buy it. I think that would be the problem for the N B. A. The N B. A is not above the law. Since they're in Orlando. They have to follow the laws of that, said state. Pat had they had the bubble here in Chicago, and it was completely legal. Yes, I think that the en bas should. If the players shows to use marijuana and their teams were cool with it should facilitate it because there are some very big health benefits to smoking marijuana what it could do for the mind and the body. But because they're in Florida, I just don't think the n BA can go down that road. So I listened to this really awesome podcast while I was on vacation. I would go do these long walks, which has told you is underrated, and I'm talking like 2 2.5 hour walks. And so I would listen to you guys and I would listen to his podcast called the armchair nutritionist. That's a good one. It's a really good podcast. And on the podcast. The host, my friend Danny interviewed John Salley. John Salley. Said that he was turned on to the use of weed when he was playing and it changed his life. Pain went away a now owns weed company with his daughter. And he said, a lot of guys in the league use it, not because they want to get high. They want the pain that they deal with the pounding and the travel and the everything playing year after year in the N B, a And I've got to think that the N B A before they sent these guys there. Had this discussion, like Put it in your carry on bag. Go get your supply and bring it down there. We're not going to facilitate because it's illegal down here unless you've got a medical card. But I got to think some of these guys have medical cards too, right? Yeah, but I got it. I don't know if they have medical cards. I mean, unless they might. Who knows you could get a medical card for almost anything Nowadays, you don't need one. Luckily here in Illinois, I think the N B A is probably doing what they do all season long if it wasn't under a pandemic is just looking the other way. You know if you know a player smokes marijuana because it helps them with their body or their mind. It's not having an effect on their plan. The court they're not showing up late to practice they're doing all the responsibility is the way that they need to be done. They kind of look the other way. I'm sure if a few players brought in some marijuana into the bubble into their room brought in some mandibles, and it's not affecting the way they go about their business. There's just going to continue to look the other way. I don't think what they want is to have bond rips sessions. Everybody come into somebody's room and let's pass the ball. I don't think you know, I don't think the N B A is going to be to fund of that happening. No, and I'm not saying that, but if they said John Doe player on X team, and he said, Look My body is banged up. My back hurts my feet hurt of it playing year after year competitive basketball, and that's how I medicate because I don't want to use opioids. You're goes on vacation. But you guys have heard your talk about it on the air. How much he feels it helps his body from what he played nine years in the National Football League 10 years. His body is banged up and Maurren. More states are starting to say. Yeah, we probably should legalize this. Most have legalized. In fact, I think all almost all have legalized for medical use. Not all Florida being one of them for recreational use. But I've got to think that was something that was discussed. Don't you guys believe that? Gotta be. Gotta be something that was discussed. Let's take a quick time out. We could get back into this as well. 3123323776 This is ESPN. You're.

"1000 Danny Butterman, Christopher Black. David Caplan 3123323776 So the Bulls may not play a meaningful N BA game for nine months. They also are not part of the cool crowd done in Orlando in the bubble. Bryan win horse had some very interesting comments yesterday what might happen with players who are currently in the bubble. It's not like I think that tampering is on everyone's mind. I think it's something that happens naturally, like like any friendships would form. All right. And this is what is You know, there's going to be stuff that happens out of this bubble where guys spend time together and become friends, and it affects things that happen down the line and what you're describing what you saw guys even did it with each other. It's a part of that. Okay, So Brian is say, Danny. Correct me if I'm wrong. Brian truly believes or feels like there's this chance that like what happened with LeBron Wade Bosch teaming up we could see Groups of guys going, You want to have dinner and then three months later, love enjoyed hanging out with Danny and Chris. Why don't we all team up Because we've been bowling together and fishing together and hanging out the bubble together and going through all of this. We all have all played together while the Chicago Bulls are back in their either the Advocate center or each guys at home, and they're not part of those discussions. Do you believe that? Yeah, I mean, absolutely. He said there that friendships made in the bubble could eventually lead to players teaming up. We all know the story about LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris brought Bosch. They were together on that Olympic team, and that's where the whole idea kind of was created. That they were going to form the big three and play together. And I know Carmelo Anthony was part of that also, which never came to fruition. The point is, these guys are going to be in that bubble for eight weeks, nine weeks. 12 weeks altogether, hanging out with nothing but time on their hands. You're telling me they can't come up with a plan to Hey, we should play together. Hey, Anthony Davis. Your contract's up at the end of next year. What do you say? You come over here to Milwaukee? I known Milwaukee's not the most glamorous city in the world. But, you know, come play with me that that Johannes talking Anthony Davis. Totally 100% possible now. Zack Levine's not in that bubble. He can't recruit anyone to the Bulls. Kobe lights. Not in that bubble. He can't be recruiting anyone to come to the Bulls. First of all. First of all. And again. This might be my optimistic Chicago centric. Look at things like I've been doing with the football team. I get it. It's going to depend on how much salary space you have. Is your owner willing to write a check for a big contract following a global pandemic where you have no fans. And I look at a Chicago opportunity where you've got a new GM and mark adversely who has all these great ties because of 10 years as a Nike employee and a player relations Rep. All these guys were represented by the same handful of agents, whether it's an ARN Tellem or a clutch sports or a mark Bartelstein Ora Bill Duffy. I mean, you're talking about All of the elite guys Goto, 97% had the same agents. So In the end if the Bulls can create salary cap space, I'm not talking about this summer the end of this truncated season. A year from now They're going to have an opportunity with this new front office to go out and strike and hit the home run. They've got to be good in the draft. I've got to get some breaks in the draft. They've been picket seventh for ever. It seems like they also have to do a way way better job at player development, and that's all being overhauled so that Kobe White takes the next step in Zach Levine takes the next step and Lowry market It takes like eight steps, and Wendell Carter takes another step. I understand where Brian's coming from, but in the end, you've got to be able to write the check. Or it doesn't matter how much guys like hanging out in the bubble. Do you agree, Chris? Yeah. So? So you're talking just overall, The outlook is positive. I agree. But I think Teo the conversation about the MBA bubble, there's there's a few things in play. One being. I think there is merit to individuals bonding in a adverse situation and a different situation that could lead to friendships in the future. Thus I could see guys coming together and Just having a different bond. Because of this experience they're going to go through and the Bulls are not included in this experience. I would also then layer in there that You're looking into free agency and where guys are going to, you know, sign as pairing up a cz duos or or three guys coming together and trying to pick a team. I would say it's unlikely to suggest that the Bulls are just immediately in that that field because it would be likely that the good teams would be the teams that would be able to sign multiple top level players and convince skies to go there. So thus, the Bulls are on the outside looking in again because the best teams in the league are in the N B, a bubble. So like I get when when horses saying a situation like this, you look back in the past. It's been when guys air together away from their normal teams. They're normal settings. The Olympics team U S a other situations. That's when these individuals bond so I could see it happening in the MBA bubble. Yeah. The Bulls have a positive outlook. If you're just looking at the organization overall and trying to restructure and reshape everything going forward, but specifically with the MBA bubble, what's going to take place here? Yeah, I think it's It would have benefited the Bulls to be involved. But then, then they would have had to been a better team last season to be invited cap. You're talking about how the Poles will have the opportunity if they can clear cap space, and they can write the checks and mark ever. Sully has the relationships that's all fine and good, But being in the bubble gives a team an advantage because it's time spent together. And all the things Mark Evers we could do with his connections with agents are fine, but we're seeing more and more n ba players are choosing their destinations. They're making the choices. The agents are just there to facilitate that so all Mark Evers Lee's relationships with agents that's going to be great for us, but Zach Lavine being in that bubble hanging out with guys lorry market and being in that bubble, talking to guys hanging out with guys being with them, those air the relationships that would give the Bulls an advantage when it came time to signing free agents. Not just a blank check and money to spend. I don't disagree with you. But if Danny's betterment is down in the bubble, and he and I are hanging out and I go, dude, you've got to come play with me and we become really, really close down there like we have a good friendship. But now we go through this global pandemic together and we get through it. And we hang out and we're eating our meals together, and I'm like, Dude, you're gonna be a free agent complain with us and someone says to you Danny. I know you want to go play with cap in would pick the city Portland. They could pay you.

Good. I called because I heard the cups coach. I got really angry and emotional because this is really thing. And you know, I'm a father to two young kids. Especially living down here in Florida living if you gotta Man sport in seeing what's in our world. You have to see how our leaders You know, taking care of this happening? I'm gonna put you on hold. We can barely hear you, my friend, but I I get in, Of course in Miami in Florida. It's Things are not going in the right direction and let's let's not play too much politics here. Look a month from now it could be back here. I mean, that's the thing. It wasn't in Texas and Florida a month ago. It is as much as it is now. Maybe it always was there, but you know it's spreading now and it may spread back here. I mean, there's there's some rhyme or reason to it, but not clear on the timing of it. You know why I did it, Spike there. We opened up in a few places. I get that. But Wisconsin opened up and I don't hear a ton. Going on there, right? Yeah, it's a good point. And we're opening up here and so far so good. Well, right now you have to check, but we're three weeks, but we require masks. We require mats where the Mass and some of those places don't Yeah, that might be it. Joe. In Naperville, You're on ESPN 1000. What's up, Joe? A curse Ajax. I think you guys are doing a great job. Thanks, man. So I work in a shop 80 people who started We know we're getting a bunch of covert cases. Simply changed social distancing used. Things have been a lot better here until you're in the situation. I just feel like that people take it for granted, for example, had a truck driver coming today. Told us you would never wear a mask Go in the store. He'll throw a fit, Just mind blowing to me. How like Jesse says we're not playing politics were just playing safe and not states and being realistic, And that's the way to go. It's proven my facility where 80 people We're on a mission. I just don't get even if you disagree with its just a mass. They're not asking, like for your first born like that's a part of you wants next. The government's going toe. You know, that's where masks so hopefully we're all alive, right? I mean, I would help. It's what that doctor said earlier. I mean the sacrifice were asking. Granted when it was staying home. Lose your job. That was a bigger sacrifice that losing your job thing not to stay home. Watch Netflix. But now we're saying Goto work. Just wear a mask, right? Doesn't seem like that big of a sacrifice. If the facts prove that it works, and apparently it does, And I guess the thing that sticks out in my head. The crazy aspect of it is that we've seen a road map word. This has been somewhat successful. Remember at the very start of all this in March early March. What were the stories leading the news now on Lee that's taking place here. But Italy is in. This was a disaster major disaster. Italy is starting to get Control over it. It's not going. It's not gonna be gone anywhere. But there are countries in Europe that have figured out they have everyone kind of buys in with the social distancing you can limit Attraction that the virus can get. So you're right. It's crazy. Me, they just just by in a little bit, and they're not asking for a whole lot Respond. Jesse Rogers in for David Kaplan here on ESPN 1000 and ESPN Chicago out. We'll continue taking your phone calls that Tommy had Aviv audio is just Got retching is sad to hear. It's something that sticks out on May makes me think at least like, um I doing the right thing. But today in baseball is a very big important day. Just me and I feel like it is something that we says with tongue firmly in cheek.
