"Showcasing on top of the book. So what does that mean near? Enemies from the government's they're finding AK forty seven and yet they deny it and tail reasons to certain times they hit you from all different five. Only remaining what they're saying. It's an old around other animals Russia. Well there you have it witness testimony about a gun battle and physical evidence that somebody was shooting the insurgents weapon of choice in Nisar Square. So how does this result in manslaughter or murder charges? We asked criminal defense lawyer. Joseph Low for some answers. Low is a former. Us Marine who defends servicemen and. Women accused of warcrimes. He is not involved in the Raven to three case but since his client was the only defendant to walk free in the Pendleton. Eight case and he represented the chief witness in the recent. Eddie Gallagher warcrimes trial. I figured he knew what he was talking about. He's also an instructor at the Academy in California. So you you have a client that comes in and says he's a soldier does just say soldier because look these guys were in a protective doing diplomat protection right keiser that they were came into art traffic circle right after a car bombing and they were supposed to clear out. This place called Nisar Square. They say that they were shot at. There's plenty of physical evidence that they were shot at and even though the government initially Said there were. There's no evidence they were shot at. They change their minds in two thousand seventeen and said that they were shot at so. What's your defense against manslaughter? And murder charges. What is a complete defense for manslaughter and murder charges in that situation? There's two defensive yourself defensive another or you can even say defensive property so if someone is shooting at you you can shoot back in kill them and be absolved of a conviction for murder because you defending yourself if they are shooting at one of your loved ones or one of your friends you can shoot back and kill them and being solved from that. Because you're descending another or they're coming in and shooting you WanNa steal your wallet you can shoot back and kill them in again The absolves of vertical fiction because you defending property. So it's pretty simple right yes on that same day A. US Army officer named colonel. David Bus Ligo told his men to Scour Nisar Square for evidence his men saw investigators picking up AK rounds at the treeline that Tommy Vargas mentioned in his Radio Calls. Remember too in the tree line but bustling. Oh testified it. All three trials that there was no evidence of an ambush. He admitted however that his Iraqi handlers wouldn't let him view the entire square and that they weren't looking for physical evidence anyway in the second trial bus Ligo actually admitted that he wasn't even in square when all this happened despite massive credibility issues. The government relied heavily on him during the trials. Here's an actor. Reading his testimony. I was only able to observe generally in the vicinity that we actually walked around with. General Hussein Al Wadi so I didn't go around the entire circle at that time there. Judicial System operate on confession based manner. That was all he cared about the idea of forensic evidence it. Sarah was something that the. Us forces was attempting to introduce to the Iraqi police in justice system but it was meeting with resistance. This is one of the many areas where people just scratched their heads and think we're back into conspiracy theories. Why would bus Lego Li- like that? And why did prosecutors rely on evidence that was so obviously tainted when they had clear evidence that the Raven to three convoy came under fire from enemy combatants will get into? Why later in this episode? Mike let's start with how how were American prosecutors able to ignore such overwhelming evidence of a gun battle? The answer? The man in charge of the investigation Colonel Karim declared upfront that there were no insurgents in Nisar Square but a helicopter crewman flying overhead saw something different gunmen dressed as Iraqi police. Just like the Raven to three men described. This is an actor reading helicopter. Crewman Timothy Spikes testimony in twenty fourteen. I did notice that several times. A blue shirted police officer would roll over the top of the haskell barrier cake shirt off drop his gun and walk away okay so you have insurgents dressed as Iraqi police on the scene tainted evidence lying witnesses and a complete defense against the charges. How could this case ever go to trial? What was the result? The government wanted. And why well Keith? George has an idea bat. He thought the reason for change in the investigation process with an Ambassador Ryan Crocker had taken over the US embassy in Baghdad of six months later and unlike his predecessor Crocker hadn't agenda to make it look like President Bush's surge was working and all of the reform actions taken to reform the Iraqi military and the Iraqi police working as well. Crocker apparently was willing to give away the farm.

"The radar of consciousness and result in the election of a pretty objectively. Nightmare. Idiots. Avenue and a British member parliament put this like, you know, Trump's in idiot. I've tried to use more parliamentary terms, but is in fact, just an idiot. You know, this is dicey territory. And I'm I know that this can easily be quote mind by those who are eager to misconstrue or misrepresent, but we'll just talk about it. Anyway, because that's how that's how you know knowledge works. Let's explore these issues, but the admiration. Of a woman in the direction of Donald Trump is that a flavor of. You know, the SP there's a specific let's say, there's a woman whose mother always said, you need a good catch you need somebody who's smart and has a good job and can take care of you who will buy you the big house and get you the car. I mean, this is a cliche, but the clay cliche exists kind of reason. There's a flavor of this at least in the culture that I come from here in the bible belt where if a woman is standing there, and she is. In the market for a companion, a life partner, a spouse and a guy pulls up seventy eight Pinto and the guy behind him pulls up Alexis with a silk suit, and obviously projecting wealth power. All that stuff. They're going to go for the guy in the Lexus in is that a little bit of the flavor of kind of what the appeal of Trump is I'm sure it's more complicated than that forgive the clumsy question. But no, I think you're you're onto something. I think I I let me let me just let me just speak to something. You just mentioned personally. I'm okay with with being, you know, kind of direct about Trump because I think the whole world knows it that will will knows skies in abomination of a leader. But but anyway to get your question except for my family Christmas time. Motivated reasoning is wrong. Interruption. Sorry. Forgive that diversion. Go ahead, please divert because because I have those relatives as well. And it's it's really encouraged me to look into like how what kind of excuses have to be made what kind of acrobatics mentally have to be made to to to justify a leader like him, especially if you're if you're an evangelical Christian eighty percent of the evangelical vote. I think his behavior seems to fly in the face of so many Christian values light. So with a handshake. You know, he grabs the hand and pulls the guy forward any he looms and gives you the stern LOKI Scott the thousand yard, well, it's more like a ten yard stare. This is all stuff. We would see in a tribe of primates out on the savannah, right? It's so primitive. It's so primitive. But I think you're right. I think wealth, you know, always has a certain appeal David bus and his book of Lucien of desire. If you want to read a really really amazing book on this topic. Does studies internationally across every culture across you know, across every continent across across cultures across languages across religions across socioeconomic status and found that women on average prefer. Wealth twice as much as men due in part because of the cost of trial during its its takes children human human, offspring are incredibly costly in terms of nurturance and support in care and protection. But there's more than that that I find so fascinating. There's this idea called the sexy son hypothesis, which I write about in both of my books, and that's the idea that women will seek traits in and men that result in their male offspring passing on their genes. More. In other words, having more reproductively successful male offering because you know, a woman can can reproduce her jeans through her son's exponentially at an exponentially higher rate than than her daughters. So mate copying is is a behavior seen across the animal world where certain females will only make. With with with males or will show a preference for males who have already made it because that shows good traits. That shows good traits that could be passed on to sons, right? If you wanna look for a trait in in in in reproductive partner, that's going to result in a lot of male offering you want somebody who appeals to to to females who wants to peel to the ladies, the sexy son, right because if your son can attract mates, it's gonna pass on your genes..

"I feel like Dr David bus. Thank you so much for coming on the show. There's so much here. I'd love to get into the jealousy stuff. And there's even things here about how women's behavior changes when they're ovulating. This is just fascinating material for me. So I really thank you for your time. And we'll we'll have to have you back again as well. Yeah. Great pleasure to talk to you. Time flies whenever I talked to that guy. Jason I'm telling you. It's just flies. He's got so many. I never get through my notes with David bus. No. We looked at it. We're like, oh, we're at fifty minutes. Maybe it's time to wrap. We only have six pages of notes left to go. Exactly. Yeah. I'd love to talk status. I mean that was my jam back when I was doing the whole dating thing. And it really when I was inventing, the advanced, human dynamics curriculum recently. I went through a lot of the status stuff that I teach to military intelligence agencies and things like that. And the roots are all in mating. They really are all in survival and reproduction we were talking offline off air with Dr David bus about this is what but self is our this is what Jim photos are about. This is what Instagram is in network is about and he took it one step further. Jason he was saying the entire internet is basically a dating app the whole universe is about dating and mating. Yeah. That was pretty amazing. I cannot wait to have him back onto discusses next book. That's. Out pretty soon. I think there's just so much every time. He drops a paper. I'm just like. Yep. In just inhale that thing Dr David bus, of course, will link to some resources for him in other books and things that he's authored in the show notes. Great big. Thank you to dodge. "Dot com slash level one. Now, here's Dr David bus. We've talked before. And I've kind of came up in my field. Reading your stuff. I not my field as a lawyer, of course. But my field as a as a dilatot unqualified evolutionary psych armchair evolutionary psychologists. I guess you could say somebody who's who was always interested in this. Because I thought if I can just like any good nerd if I can get to the bottom of why men and women do things from an evolutionary perspective. Maybe I'd have a chance of getting a stink in date in college or your head school. And I I can't be alone in that. I feel like a lot of people in in your field, professionally probably started off by going. That's why I'm single and then just going down the rabbit hole. Yeah. Well, or. You know? Yeah. If you understand basic, human, mating psychology or are adaptations for mating both in ourselves, and in the people that were trying to attract I mean that gives you a leg up in the mating game for sure. Yeah. And I thought that that would probably be something that wow. This the dating arena changes so much and one of the common objections that I had back when I was teaching guys about dating stuff years ago back in college in grad school and things like that people would say, well that won't work in Chicago or that won't work in my area. And of course, as my business grew it was well that won't work in my country. And what I realized was something that you come to the conclusion of years and years ago decades ago, probably which is a human biology pretty much the same all over the earth. You can't really say that won't work if we're talking about a biological explanation. So evolutionary psychology and the things that that you study, especially mating psychology. This is. Universal regardless of culture, or is that an overstatement? Well, it's largely true. It might be a tad of an overstatement in the sense that there is cultural variability, but a lot of that cultural variability is easily or action say easily, but it is explained on the basis of under our underlying evolutionary psychology. So for example, if you live in an environment where there is a scarcity of food resources than people tend to value plumpness in a potential made more than thinness, if you live in a culture within abundance of food, people value thinness over plumpness because plumpness in food scarce culture reveals that those who are a little plump are healthy, and they've been well nourished, and they have had enough to eat. And so there is predictable cultural variability, but at a fundamental level. We all have the same psychological architecture. Sure, we all have the same fundamental, mating psychology. You know what? This reminds me of David is have you ever seen? I'm going to butcher the name of the so in fact, I won't even try, but it's this phenomenon of this practice, I should say where it's like in Ethiopia Eritrea or something and women when they wanna get married they go to this camp for lack of a better word, and there's basically this old spinster there. And she feeds them this buttermilk kind of stuff seven times a day, and they just drink it over and over and over and they have to hold it down because your body wants to reject it because it's basically just pure fat. And you're drinking this over and over and over again, and you're trying to gain like thirty to sixty pounds. So that you look more attractive. So that a man will like you, and they go around interviewing these guys from whatever I I really want to say, it's the OPR somewhere, similar Somalia and the guys are like, yeah. The bigger the better, you know, and they're not joking. They're really showing a preference, and they studied and they look this preference. Is they want women who if? They were transplanted magically into Canada the United States somewhere else in the west. You'd say, hey, you know, you should probably lose a few dozen pounds your look a little unhealthy, and they're like, and you see the before picture, and you just go look at this beautiful young lady. And then you see the after picture, and you go why would you do that to yourself? What the heck is going on here. And I'm sure they say the same thing about crash diets and things in breast implants, or whatever we're doing and other parts of the world..

"Nobody talks about income and how to build your career correctly, and nobody talks about how to read people and nobody talks about psychology and practical psychology. Nobody talks I had to do your taxes like everything you'll have to do. Nobody tells you how to make good decisions. Nobody tells you how. Read whether you have exploitation of people are not understand personality types. These are the things that matter you think presidents determine any of this? No, no. And I repeat no. And anybody who wants to go down that long larva line of argument is just deluded. I mean, this is so the fact that some people argue with me, I I'm like, what are you talking about? I wanna meet the people that go January twenty sixteen December twenty. Sixteen my life was amazing. January twenty sixty just all went. Downhill. Boy Trump got in for. I mean just my life. It was amazing. I had a six pack. I had a happy marriage. I was making six figure income. I had passive and active income I had. And then new president came in all wiped out took about three days. Once he got an office boy declared an executive order, remove all happiness from bomb. No, there's no sir. Story about that ever by any president? No one ever life ever changes from December to January be, but there are things that will change your life which are broad demographic thing, stuff like that shifts in the world, and that's what I focus on. Most people want to focus on whatever's the loudest thing in the media. Basically, if you wanna live a good life, be cronk contrary. And if if the media's always talking about politics, then make that the least important part of your life. If the media never talks about self education, reading a book, if the media never talks about psychology, how to know who to marry and not to marry. You know, there's visual cues. Dr. David bus told me he can sit down with a couple before they're married and in fifteen minutes, tell you how long it'll take them to get divorced or if they'll stay together for life. That's a practical lesson that everybody should know head to be able to read. But dating situ. To know if it's gonna last, how to get out of toxic friendships, relationships, family associations, zero. That's what matters. That's what matters thou. That's what matters politics will come and go. And another caveat to remember is there's basically never been good politicians for the last two thousand years study history. I studied history allied star with the Caesar's. There was a few good Caesar's, and most of them were horrific. People who exploited their own people look around the world. Yes, every politician tells you how they're in it to serve mankind call give if you believe that you are the sucker in the room. Never be this sucker in a room. I mean, we win hasn't been good. When is the good old days was the good old days when Woodrow Wilson was running America. I don't know. A lot of people say was a horrible president. He started United Nations e- you know, put it this way for every president you could ABRAHAM LINCOLN people bring him up as the greatest president. I think he was a great president in certain ways, but he also definitely. Wasn't anti-slavery until. It helped his presidency. He didn't not. He ran, I believe, I'm correct at Santa's. He ran for president under a platform of I won't get rid of slavery..

"Just as far as before you, you have like any sort of damage like, you know, Barry, Sanders point gone like I, you know what that's going to do for the future of his health. Considering what seems what happens to a lot of these football players like Lynn Swann got out after ten years. He played ten seasons. Got four rings in in had the couple of huge hit so wherever their Super Bowl and it seemed like was he the one that was he took one Baverstock Samy way. Sammy white took that one hit when it see monkey died in the game. Oh yeah. Those old raider highlight. Oh my God. They just were punching guys in the head. Yeah. Like this one guy, he literally had like a cast and you'd catch the. He would let you catch the ball, and so he was new. To the side of the head, and you get knocked down in the act like that was a good hit. As I told you to sucker punch that guy and that was completely legal. Yeah. I remember a touchdown pass Terry Bradshaw through and he got knocked unconscious against the Cowboys. You get hit like two guys hit them at once. Yeah, he was completely unconscious. And he q. course because he's Terry through a strike Lynn Swann caught up for touchdown. And then Terry played the rest of the game, I believe didn't remember most of it. I mean, that was a, they don't let guys do that anymore. So that that that is that is a good thing. They don't let them do anything close to that were. Yeah. Now now they have not care, not just they care. Skew sued. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was saying to my pockets that what they should do is just like make them all sign a waiver kinda like, you know, if if the federal government imprisons you for thirty years and they find out you're innocent and they go, Kay, we'll let you out. But you have to sign this thing where you can't sue us. Yeah, they, whoever lawyer drew that up, the NFL should hire that person. And then when you come into the NFL, you decide that say, sign it. Here we go. This, this is what this is. I had my fantasy football draft choice, and we we have eleven teams, but only ten could be in the draft and the champ gets the vote somebody out. Okay. So the guy who was the champ, Dave damasec he drew up this legal document that I won't vote you out, but you can't vote me out for five years and we all had to sign it to avoid getting voted out. And then he ended up voting out this one person. But I thought like what you're saying. It really was. That's what this is it survivor. And it's caused a lot of tension and an angst in our group. I hate it. I'm afraid to yet, dude, you, you guys, you fucked up with that one. This is my friend. Cousin sows is obsessed with bike, the vote out and. You guys just you, you just eat away. Fucking with. That's like Woodrow Wilson when he realized that Federal Reserve was not a good deal. Now we're just stuck with it for the rest of and you gotta have your letter of regret are used what you'd be college football trip this year. I'm going to Michigan, Wisconsin in the big house and you have you done that one before the? I saw Michigan, Ohio, state back nineteen ninety nine. That's when like was David. Boston was playing and I forget about she says, yeah, longtime ago. Remember how big that guy got so jacked on the cardinals David bus that he was like the first football receiver members. I wa. I guess too big. He's that hurt. Yeah, that was that was a great error in the big ten that was before the SEC in their whole run, but my college football when like bass -chusetts at so not a thing I moved out here and that's what guy and the games came on. So early and and shows get a comedy shows got over so early. Like, you know, you used to work the weekends in New York me. You didn't get home till like three in the morning, and you did fall asleep to four four thirty. So. So I missed a lot of sports when I was there..

"Hey whether this is your first or 605 assode of the art of charm were glad to have you here with us we'd love to send you some top episodes and the abc toolbox that's where we study the science of people and discuss concepts like reading body language having charismatic nonverbal verbal communication negotiation techniques the science of attraction just like we're talking about right now here with david bus social engineering networking and influence strategies persuasion tactics and everything else that we teach here at the art of charm check that out of the art of trump dot com slash toolbox or in our iphone or android apps at the art of sharm dot com slash iphone or slash android also at the art of trump dot com you can find the full show notes were this and all previous episodes of the show thanks for listening and supporting the art of charm let's get back to jordan and david bus if you're a female or male for that matter and you find yourself in a particular context were situation in which you would be at a dating disadvantage so for example of your guy you're going to an engineering school there's three women in your class of sixty or whatever the ratio ends up being the timing is probably pretty poor for you to be selecting or to present yourself to be selected if we're gonna use the evolutionary psychology terminology near the timing is bad for you to lock something down you shouldn't baby wait or consider waiting until you are in a more advantageous position so if you graduate from that school you took a job in new york city that's a better time for you to put yourself out there and indulge in the dating pool because you're odds are going to be much higher that you're gonna get something that you're satisfied with longterm is that correct.

"Welcome to the art of charm i'm jordan harbinger on this episode we're talking with my friend david bus he's a professor of psychology at the university of texas at austin we're talking about one of my favorite topics anywhere evolutionary psychology david bus has more than three hundred scientific publications not bad obviously does a lot of riding in a lot of researching mostly on human mating strategies he's been cited as one of the thirty most influential living psychologist that is a big deal such a typical guy thinks about sex and mating all day long this stuff is crucial everyone should know what modern science tells us about human mating mating matters because the decisions we make about it affects nearly all aspects of our lives these blitz status and esteem in which we are held the health outcomes we attain how long we live the quality of our lives daytoday we're going to discuss the made in crisis among educated women this also greatly affects men because of how this works will explore all that will also explore how to select a good long term made and what leads to good longterm made selection as well as what leads to disasters now let's hear from david bus there's so many good places to start here because mating dating being with us significant other for a long period of time is something that people struggle with before they get there and struggle with during the relationship struggle that throughout pretty much every phase and and i say struggle because i think maybe that that might be too dramatic of a spin on it but i feel like people who are doing it right and people who are doing it wrong are always putting an energy into their relationships and that's just kind of how it works there's really no getting around it.
