"david building" Discussed on Pray the Word with David Platt

"Pray the word with David Platt is a resource from radical .NET. I want to read two different verses or sections of first chronicles chapter 21 today and pray accordingly. The first is first chronicles 21 14. So the lord sent a pestilence on Israel and 70,000 men of Israel fell. So this is pause and think about this. This is the consequence of David's prideful sin in ordering a census. The lord sent a pestilence on Israel and 70 thousand men fell. Ah, the effects of a leader's sin on those whom he or she leads can not be underestimated overestimated you really looking to look at it from both perspectives, like the seriousness of leadership before a holy God, and the effects of that leadership on those they lead. I just think about any one of us in any kind of leadership position in our homes as a husband, leading a wife as a mom or dad leading children, even as an older child leading other children in different ways or in work, any leadership we might have in church any leadership we might have any leadership influence in our lives. Gotta help us to be humble in our use of it to be wholly as leaders. And to lead others for their good, knowing that our sin doesn't just affect us, but our sin affects others. I mean, all that leads then to first chronicles chapter 21 versus 25 through 27. So David paid or in 600 shekels of gold by weight for the site, and David built there an altar to the lord and presented burn offerings in peace offerings and called on the lord and the lord answered him with fire from heaven upon the altar of burnt offering. Then the lord commanded the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath. I just want to read that passage too because of this picture that first chronicles 21 gives us of sacrifice averting death when David builds this altar and presents these sacrifices, the lord responds, puts his sword back into its sheath and more people are saved from dying in this picture that we see all throughout the Old Testament that sacrifice averts and first chronicles 21 to use the language here. The sword of God's wrath upon people and in reading both of these passages can't help but to praise Jesus as the perfect leader whose sacrifice averts the wrath that you and I deserve and depress Jesus for the cross that averts our death and makes the way for us to experience life to put first chronicles 21 versus 14 and 25 through 27 together. And we pray lord Jesus. We exhale you as the perfect holy humble leader. And we pray, Jesus that you would help us to lead like you lead, help us to be wholly like you help us to be humble like you help us to lead for the good of others God help us to turn from sin in our lives that we might lead in a way that reflects the love and leadership of Jesus. And even as we pray for this in our lives, we praise you that we even have life. Jesus we praise you for dying on the cross for our sins for paying the price we deserve for all of our prideful sin against you. Jesus, we love you. We worship you today. We pray you help us to exalt you help us to share you today, help us to point others who are under your inner sin to you right around us, got all around the world we pray for more Sikh men and women and children, hundreds of thousands of people in India God we pray that they would know the good news of Jesus love for them. Jesus died on a cross to purchase people from India for your glory by your grace, we pray that you would cause this good news of your sacrifice for sense. We may known among all the people's of the world. Jesus, you are the perfect holy humble leader. We worship you and we pray you to help us to be like you that you would help our lives and specifically our leadership to be a reflection of your life and your leadership. We pray this, according to first chronicles 21 and Jesus name..

"Apps here at one password Thanks chris thanks for having us this is i mean i had to learn what a twitter space was but once started like this So there's there's the story that i had that i sort of tell everybody that i interviewed a club. Join join my team. And it's that you know if you go back to the beginning of one pass. It started as you know. Dave and rousson built this thing in a cave out of spare parts You know wait way back. When as a mac app rate and it was they built it to solve a problem that they were having as they were developing websites. Which was rousson was with david building sign informs and contact forms and head to keep typing stuff in and they were like is right at that. Does this for us. This is ridiculous. We'll do that. We'll take a weekend. We'll do that put up. Some you know. Version tracker and mac update and. Then we'll get back to work and of course you know blew up and it went from there so started as a backup when the iphone. Sdk came out. It became an iphone app. We hired a windows developer. An android developer at at some point along the way and literally like one of each and said hey like. Here's what the iphone app looks like. Here's what the mac app looks like. We'd go ahead go. Go build yourself a win passer nap and your fearsome hits. Here's a designer that that can help you with some of it. And we sort of went and we had separate teams that were building all our apps and building them in parallel and at the time like they were we were using dropbox to sync your data or we were using i cloud if you're on apple platforms and was fine and it works. Well we certainly had a lot of success there because we're still here today. But even when i was running the apple team a few years ago i would find out stuff that the windows team did like when i read about it on our blog. Right like like. Oh that's cool. The windows team added this new feature people. Are we talking about by the way. Like how big are these teams like. Five people eat. Oh okay so sewing problem yes exactly no it certainly it. It shouldn't have been but nonetheless like we were all dependent. You know we were like that. We've got our roadmap building are cool features. The other teams are building their cool features. No no big deal and if someone is one of the other teams added a feature that we thought was cool like we go and build it and but we do it from scratch. Do it our own way right. Make make our own thing and and so we ended up in this space where we just had separate teams building separate things even though they were all one password apps and even when we introduced like six years ago when we introduced one password dot com we still built the support for the service into the client apps separately and so we had effectively five. Four or five full implementations from back end to front end of a one password at and including the communication all the code and other logic and everything for communicating with the server. And we tried to do a much better job of of documented. The api's documenting the database structures and everything and still we ended up differences among the clients that when it came time to change things you know our our server lead would come to us and say hey like it's time to add this do feature to your apps wind. Can you get this to us and myself and every other platform lead would say the same thing which was like. I don't know man like now's a good time. I'm busy like maybe in a few weeks and like everybody's st weeks was different than everybody else's few weeks and it just started paralyze us like we just couldn't move. We were so excited service. But we couldn't move fast to save our lives. Because like i said different codes stacks so we sit our. Let's timeout like this is ridiculous. Like let's let's take a step back and so we started to look at options for creating a shared code library. Et back was the ultimate When did you was two three years ago. Two and a half hours ago. Okay okay yes i we had. We did have a false start where we try to think. It didn't work out and we had to sort of stop and start lowering. We've used multiple languages to learn new things along the way so i won't go into all the super details of that. So but at a certain point like so in earnest back at the big at the end of twenty nineteen leaning into twenty twenty. We restarted to build this back end. Common being the one password core which is just. It's a headless one password. Outright it encapsulates. All the logic of what makes it one password. App a one passer. so everything about the cryptography. Everything about communicating with the server the database code the the logic for enforcing permissions up to the front ends. That says like this person can edit an item but this person's in read only mode all of that stuff lives in one spot and the goal being that if we consolidate the bulk of the one pastor tap into one spot then when it comes time for the server teams to tell a look. We're we're making a change cool. We can have one person potentially go and make that change and we redeploy that all of our apps at the same time and so. That's where we sort of. We did a thing that you're never supposed to do in software. Which is we all of our apps. We hit we hit file new project in five on five platforms simply right like we said. Okay we're going to build What we're going to build a lennox app because we've we've had customers asking for that for ten years now so we think we can build a lennox. Let's do that and we're going to build a new windows absolutes do that. We're going to build a new mac app and In fact we said. We're going to build two new maps. And i'll get to that in a second. We're going to build an ios app. We're gonna build android app. But since they're all based on this core we can have these stimuli wrappers around the bulk of the one password like the noted this headless one to have and it should be easy to build. We should be able to move pretty quickly. We should be able to get these out the door and move on. And now we've we've resets so as we go forward when one build new features and solve new problems and stuff. We have this incredibly strong base to do this on. So what you're seeing now with. The launch of one password for links back in may One passage for windows early access June and then today one passing early access for mac. These are the first three of the new core apps. What you're going to see next is one passenger..

"Garrett as the closer. He wants it and To winning guys. He scares me is a two winning guy. Multi any guy, but for one inning I'll put some money on him. You find me a guy in Major League baseball that has more tenacity than a mere Garrett and I'll show you a guy that doesn't exist because I think he's the most tenacious reliever, especially in the game of baseball. Also, Lucas Sims can push a for that job is the closer or the ace of the bullpen when it comes to The talent. The first guy you want to see out in the toughest situation. Amir Garrett Lucas Sims are too great starting points for David Building work with. Oh, man. I love Lucas Simms. I wouldn't make that. Wouldn't make that trade again or I would make it again. Put it that way. I wouldn't take it back. In other words, because Yeah, that worked out really? Well, you know it did because the Atlanta Braves got a quality Left fielder with a lot of power, and he had a great year. I think too much. We always want our team to just absolutely win the trade and rip off another team. But honestly, I'm okay if it's 50 50, and I think that's the way this went with this. We got a really great reliever and Lucas and who has the ability if they need him to They didn't really ask him to last season, but he still has the ability to stretch out and become a spot starter. Catholic What Michael Lorenzen did last year so and I'd be interested to see how that continues to develop because he has shown to be a really interesting investment. These first two seasons. You know, opposition? It's just getting a lot of talk is, you know his shortstop and when I interviewed David Bell in the virtual Reds fast You know, he kind of pushed some chips toward the middle of the table on Jose Garcia. Yeah. And He's going to. He's the stud of the future. But how soon will the future be? You know he got the he got the feel for it this this past season. Is he ready? That's that's the question Mark. It looks like the Reds will sign a Another short stop. Who is that going to be? Who knows? I know Reports where they reached out to D. D. Gregorius is agent. I think there's about a week ago, so they may be starting that process with Dede. I agree. I think that you get a guy at least for this season. If not for the next two seasons, simply because you want Jose Garcia to be ready. You don't want to push him. Don't want to get him to the point where he has to come up and give you good at bats. And if he doesn't, then you're putting way too much pressure on the kid. So I think that you give them A year or maybe a majority of this season in Triple A to kind of Honus skills of the plate. Remember, he never had and a bat and triple A before coming up last season. Wow. That's exactly right. You know, it really is. CD. We've heard him a lot to a pushing his. You know his agenda and would love to see him back. What a trade. That was when he left Cincinnati Shin Soo Choo and Trevor Bauer went from Arizona to Cleveland. That's right. That was a heck of a three way deal there. You know, it really was Shin Soo just here for a year. And then they You know, put all their hopes and dreams on Billy Hamilton in center field. After that, it's funny cause hindsight's 2020 which, by the way, we need to figure out a new saying for that, cause I don't want to remember 2020 after this, but I looking back on it. You wish the Reds would have had more time with Shin Soo choo because he was a heck of a dude in the leadoff spot. He had amazing on base skills, and he had some pop, too. And he was all right defensively in center field, So I think I look at that. And I say that would have been nice. But honestly, the way that everything Moved was you know this for a reason? They thought they had their leadoff guy, the future and Billy Hamilton. You had to find out. No doubt and Adam to fall was the you know, is the player in that Lucas since trade Who's you know with the Atlanta Braves and his had some success there and The Braves just pitch so well. I mean, it's the Reds were incredible. The pitching staff toe lose two games like that. That's got to No, it's got to eat it the Reds this offseason. That was something I heard A lot of after that Syriza was the Reds have way more talented pitchers in the Braves. It's like, well, but the Braves just pitched 20 to shut down any. So what are we talking about? No doubt. Yeah. Absolutely. What do you think the rotation will look like here? Oh, I know that there's a lot of rumors When it comes to Sonny Gray and Luis Castillo. His name is popped up in rumors. I think that that's more just net crawl, doing his due diligence late if general manager from another team calls in and like, Hey, what about this guy? And you know the common denominator in all of those rumors? Has been One. Dude, we're talking about Jon Heyman. He's reporting all this stuff and he's not reporting false things. You know, If that guy's name came up in a trade discussion, then it came up. It's not as if he's out the door. So I think we're looking at Sonny Gray, Luis Castillo. Tyler Malli. I like Wade. Miley. The more more that I think about Wade. Miley is actually really good friends with Bronson Arroyo. They're very Similar in the way that they attack a season so we didn't really get to see the full Wade Miley. Because that was a short season he has built for a long season. I think he's going to be a solid for and then the number five spot. You've got a lot of interesting options. I think at the end of the day I would love the sea Michael Lorenzen in that spot. I think he's more valuable to the team is the star. I think I think any pictures more valuable to a team as a starter than a reliever, But I think especially for him because During his in between days. He could be a pensioner for you. He could be a dude that plays out in the field for you. Not necessarily that you need him, too. But you have that option well, and if the Jeff cars with us talking Reds baseball locked on Reds podcast You can hear it anywhere, And it's free where podcasts can be heard every single spot..

"There you go okay and i was like this sounds fun i want to spend all i'm just and it was like all you did was go shows like that was the class i love and i did a lot of them at. Nyu found things that like. Were classes that ultimately you could just like go see and do things that was like a did so lucky when you found those got it was incredible. I found by the time it was a senior. I found a class where you study about a place and then you go to the place. I went to vietnam after i graduated. I wish i act like wow. Wow oh yeah you can. You can go. They would take you to like south africa. They went to ghana. They went to south africa. They went to china Truly the most incredible course at nyu. I don't know why everybody didn't try and take that class. No one knew about it. Wow how do you fall into like experiential journey so easily. I seek them out. I look for that is that is that just like a magical coincidence that happens in your life or did you know going in that there were like at the end. You're going to go to vietnam new to pay pay extra for the so. You're like actively like you are hunting to live in a lot of ways like you are looking right right. Yeah i'm still like that. I think But yeah i mean. I was trying to travel and i I guess i. I can't remember who told me about this class. I know there's a. There's a friend of mine name. Our lady who was in new. twa is taking it. Maybe she told me about it she yes. She's an incredible actress. Also but i basically. I was already going w. but i took this summer course in. I met a boy named will debt of sin. Who was in playwrights horizons. And he was starting that summer she was starting an experimental devised theatre company. And i had no idea with tobias theater was what does that mean. All theater is an old theater device. Bright exactly and then we made this. It was like it was like fourteen or fifteen people in the cat asked in the company and we made this ridiculous show called televise. This in the show is problematic. And not you know. Obviously we were like you know kids making this thing funny enough. Actually konya west ended up coming to the show randomly. How did he find out about this. The other connection another friend of mining. Sarah her boyfriend was living in a building. He was dating stating amber rose at the time. And i guess. Ambrose like lived in this guy david's building and they were coming downstairs and like basically cognac. Waiting for amber was vamos. Obviously keep waiting in the vestibule for his girlfriend just like chilling because his girlfriend was taken a long time to get ready allopathic and basically like struck up a conversation and was like you know they were like. Oh you know we're big fans wherever you go where you had in like. Oh we're going to see this lake. Our friend is doing this. Leonardo sort of weird show that nyu and we were going. And connie i was like can i were like totally. And he came for like the first act. Wait a minute wait a minute. Do you think this. I act had made an impact on his bid for presidency. I don't wanna. I don't wanna be intertwined at all with any conquest gas one hundred percent absolutely kanye west. I rose sound bite right now. You are directly responsible. Had not seen the first forty minutes of are ridiculous show. He would have never gone to do anything he did responsible for as long as yes gentlemen basically it. We ended up part of the cedar company. And it really was my introduction into the downtown theater scene and we ended up doing shows at la mama and all these other things and and then. I ended up moving to london once. I really started doing music. And i was going to all these kind of like house parties in london and the box is over there too like i went to the box over there before i went to the box here in new york. Like it's over there with that stuff. I think the box in new york is more is has more of that sort of experimental stuff going on but they yes they have all they have all sorts of different things there. Nightlife is like a whole other vibe. And i was kind of going all these parties in east london where my friends were in bands in like the music scene narrow. I was really writing. I was working as a songwriter. I was living in london. And i ended up kind of these places and it was it was sort of like the melding of the two things and then my friends were also actors and performers and dancers. So i had friends and sleep. No more new york and like all of my friends were sort of working in these immersive theatre. Things you know. The team was not the team yet. the team ultimately like of rachel chapter who is a part of the Who's like one of the founding members of the team has gone on to win a tony award. She directed big twelve haiti's town and and they've really like pioneer kind of like sort of like underground device eater movements so like all of that stuff was happening at the same time and i didn't realize i'm not i'm not involved in. I don't know those people. But i was a part of seeing all of that and i knew a lot of the kids that were like taught by those people and it was sort of it was sort of. In my periphery. And so when i went in select completely different saying i went into music. I was just still surrounded by it. Because i love theatre and all my friends are still you know performers so i was just seeing my friends and foes before sleep. No more was like really dislike. Big sort of immersive theatre event in new york. And there's this There's this event in. London called on my god my brain secret cinema where they take movies and they. They recreate like the entire film set. And you buy a ticket and you have to get you get dressed like as a character in the movie and they send out like they send out like who you who you are and like i love that it was really incredible and they. They took over an old printing factory that they signed like a like a three or four year lease on it and they did back to the future they did. I went to the star. Wars one was the first one that i went to An recreated like all of tatsumi and then they would show the movie and it was incredible. And like i was sort of seeing all the stuff pop up around me and i was living in london at the time but coming back to new york law. 'cause my family's here and my friends here and it was sort of like a mix of everything stirred together. It was like being part of all of that in a small way coming out of school and then seeing all of these house parties and stuff in london seeing kind of the way.

"More as he is he gets to the prize. I in the prize is but he gets the fried attempt to implement that at some point i people in chat get the prize with that brother. I'm sorry that's okay said maybe a free bag of to row pop survey ego. Why not maybe. It should be listener choice. Good morning of other stuff. I don good to see you all right. People starting to file in this great again. Sorry for the late start Totally totally on my end but man. There's a lot of stuff going on in this country. When isn't there. But what can i say. What can i say it is america so it is. I think i think we have been forever changed in more ways than one and in more places than one morning tim tim tim. Good morning starting to come in. We appreciate that on a saturday. And we're like okay. Who's next what do we do. what are we saying. what are we talking about. Oh yeah facebook. Go ahead good rather now. I was just thinking about the the storm that's floating around out in the gulf or we'll be floating around out in the gulf. They change the forecast on it. We may be getting some of that yes. I saw that it decided to corkscrew. Run you now. It's heading directly at you. Is it not. i mean. Literally live will south. I'm just north of south florida. But i'll get some of the residuals. I think we may get tropical storm force winds which is good. You better better than this is true. Better than the full brunt. Yeah no doubt when we get the full monty here. It's kind of like a cold slap in the face with a frozen wet dish towel. Always worry about if for you guys knew in particular brother because uh for for newer listeners. David built his own house with his own hands. By the way and In blessing you need a frigging storm to come in and do something bad to that you end to you guys so yeah it's thankfully it's made out of block so as a nursery go. The wolf can hold them in your house down. You built out of blocks so the only damage that may result from a really really strong system is the roof but once the roof sleep gone everything inside his ruined. So it's kind of like gay. You've got to block out but everything else now. It's just a big swimming pool. Definitely alright well. Hunker down brother. Oh yeah. I think we're just gonna get you know. Brush from it actually okay. So he could use the rain though. So i'll be thankful for the rain. Yeah we've We've been trying to benefit from You know glancing blows from storms at a ridge nate from your areas and and in other southern regions and And then Come up here and try to give us a little bit of moisture but look. It's you know it hasn't it hasn't always happened are not always know is true. It's been pretty bad here but can i. Can i do a couple of technology rants. Sure the mind you pay your show to all right i one. I'm going to level some criticism at my alternator which is apple guys if anybody is listening to this show and they work for apple. I used to work for apple but I no longer an influential force. Apparently not that. I ever was but if anybody could has connections to apple developers and stuff. Here's the thing guys. You guys put forward a a new feature that we call them features on the apple iphone that has to do with it sort of relates to do not disturb and the way this works is they thought it was a great idea for you and on our behalf kind of annoys me. But that if someone isn't on your contact list or in your contact list. They thought it was a great idea. Like let's not disturb somebody and we won't bring the phone but we'll put we'll display a message that says silence call. I find this completely annoying in. I don't appreciate it I like it the old way where your phone would light up. And i could say unknown caller or maybe it's somebody that you do know but at least it would let me know that it call came in sometimes. I don't see the message if my phone is upside down. You know the screen down until much later and there might be an important call. That i need and i don't think i should have to go through sixty steps inside of settings to adjust just so i can get calls. What is that. A is an automatic feature or something. You add something on by default and when you go into the settings you actually can't even turn it completely off well and you know i don't know if other apple users are taking the same position i am but it's kind of like you know again. It's one of these things once in a while. Apple does this and it's sort of the downside of the platform in my opinion where they think most people are going to appreciate a feature without really asking us and they just do it and and for me. That's kind of a problem. So i don't know if there's any iphone users out there that that have been experiencing that but but anyway If you wanna comment you can email me back or both of us back. Don't email because he's a android guy. And this is why speaking of android we. We've had that feature for awhile and we can. We can activated or deactivated manually. Yeah it's it's a little more granular than that with this phone. But i don't know. I just like we need to get our calls. You know and it should be up to us if we want to silence a particular call or not you know But anyway that's that's number. One number two is a little longer and has to do with our friends at facebook who are not our friends by the way the border. I was locked out of my facebook account again. And i know that's not unique. Other people will get locked out but here in it was unintentionally self-imposed explain and this.

"Of Presidents who Nick has spent the last few days with and they went to a meal. And I think that my go shouts in Teaneck and front even given the hour Of the day probably make him all hungry. So we have to fill this, but he's a vegan, so it has a vegan should buy way should fill him in that the food is unusual. Because it all has a history or if that's true, and you can be a tradition that won't have a story told over it, And it's amazing. I experienced it in such a from even you know, the beginning of, you know, sharing the songs and washing your hands. I was like these. These traditions are outstanding. And you know, as someone Studying theology. It takes you right back to understanding why why one would commune in such a way? The dinner that Malcolm took me a Shabbat dinner. In Jerusalem months in a fabulous facility that I think had been either an embassy or a compound of the British at some point There was an elaborate It looks like a golden. It lets you wash your hands and you recall Malcolm and a room full of people that I've I felt so much the outsider because they didn't know what to do. Only for a few minutes. Didn't know I didn't know whether I should follow Malcolm. He's off talking to his friend and I was sitting at a table and everybody seems to know exactly what service is going to look like what you're going to eat. Well, I don't know what the food is on. I can't raise my hand. Say, Malcolm, What am I eating here? So I imitated Markham. I went to wash my hands. I came back and I sat down and they serve some soup with things floating in it. What was it was it was it was? It must monosyllables which, if you told me that there was meat inside, I would've known What I was going to eat. And I tell the story, Nick because all these traditions are amazing to people who didn't grow up with him, he went. I didn't grow up with him right up in a different household. Indeed, Eso it's striking when you come upon them first time When you visit Israel, you'll see Everything has a story If Every stone has a story. But Nick, he wanted things People don't know, I think is that Nick is studying for a PhD in theology. Which makes all these John's comments especially relevant. What what motivates you to go into in Howard to do a PhD eventually enough I come from, you know, a householder of ministers and theologians. Ah, from my father, My mother's father. Ah, ahs. Well as my great grandmother, so many in its, you know, So the language of theology is like almost like talking about sports around the house, and I always wanted to get in on the debate. Azad kid, I wanted to be able to You know, talk about the origins of this and why we believe this and why we study that in the the journeys of Noah Abraham Moses. I wanted to be anything but and as a kid, I would challenge it. Because, you know, there was a lot of rules and regulations and discipline. So I'm like, Oh, I can't. I do that If my friends could do this, and it always will revert back to the Bible. And so it would get to that space of, you know, challenging my father challenging my grandfather and then they were like There's a calling he he has it and I was like I do way too much sinning. Teo be appreciated. But I was still that the desire was inside of me to understand into really did to help people and to be somewhat of a light in somewhat Ah, conduit, Tio bringing people closer together, so you know, going instead of preaching, I became entertainer became a stand up comedian. Position so many different things, but that desire for education specifically in the space of religion in theology and spirituality, So you know 2016. I ended up going back to school and to you know, the historic Black College and University of Howard University and Through that I kind of re engaged in the space of you know what? I've been learning all my life. But now to really get a degree in it in this journey of theology, so and brings us here today, and ironically, like the things that got me in trouble, or whether things that I was studying already and it probably why I was speaking so passionately and so With so much conviction is because, you know, I'm reading books daily about the subject matters in learning and in and hearing new revelations. So now to be able T be thrown in the midst of this and and to hear different perspectives and get you know Others truths in that way, Ah, and staying away from the tropes. That's why Salvan desire ing to stay away from tropes and only focus on truth, and I think that's what's going to bring us closer together now. Tell Nick about the city of David. That he will be able to walk in. Well, I think it's transformative and especially for somebody like you. I mean, you're one of the most spiritual people I've met and whether you're still a sinner or not, But you, you really even my grandchildren felt it that the night at my daughter's home. But the city of David is a stamp area right on the that goes from the old city of Jerusalem out, and it's where David built the original city of Jerusalem and you know, in the Middle East, they didn't destroy they just built on top on top on the top. So when We went for an excavation. His son actually worked in in the parking lot, just in the parking lot of the city of David Museum. They started digging and they found second Temple Period Village..

"Ghost towns and interviews with people have had their own experiences at these sites will include our own expeditions with Vira paranormal adventure machine. A forty foot class. Aarp scary stories from around the world and from here in the states look what we and others have experienced in our small towns Charleston. Millville and the battle of the Bulls Arizona territory. So let's do this in chronological order or will be jumping around in the space of about forty years or so. The Mormon Battalion was only religion-based unit in. Us military industry the unit served from July of eighteen forty six to July eighteen forty seven during the Mexican American war. The battalion was a group of around five hundred sixty or so latter day saint men. They were led by Mormon officers who are under the command of regular army officers during the year that they were in service they marched over two thousand miles from Illinois to Council Bluffs Iowa to San Diego California via Kansas City Santa Fe and Tucson. Their March opened a southern wagon route that aided in America's westward expansion three hundred of the Mormon Battalion arrived in the small Mexican town of San Diego. After about a six month march the rest of the battalion wore out sick and in need of rest in medical attention had been sent to Pueblo Colorado for the winter all the women and children that had been traveling with them were sent there as well. They eventually made their way to Salt Lake City Valley on the way to San Diego. The battalion made a dip to the south near Present Day Sierra Vista as they built a wagon trail westward. Along the San Pedro River. They had their one and only armed conflict. Abet one sided with a bunch of bulls stampeded started and the animals were on the run. The Mormon Battalion shot ten to fifteen in the wild beasts and two of their battalion were injured during the fray. Today there's historical marker along Charleston Road at the San Pedro River. Memorialize the battle in San Diego at Rosecrans Park Point Loma and San Bernardino at Glen Helen. Regional Park there are memorials to the Mormon Battalion and all that they did help with America's westward expansion about three quarters of a mile to the north and a little over thirty years after the battle of the Bulls Shit the ghost towns of Charleston and Millville Arizona. They're separated by the San Pedro River near Charleston was the place where the mill workers and support folk lived. They worked The two mills located across the river to the East and Millville these mills owned by the Tombstone Mailing Mining Company and the Corbin million mining company crushed or stamped your into a fine powder. That was then run through a smelter. Smelting is a heat process. That with the right chemicals is used to reduce the ore to decompose it. So the base metal silver in this case can be separated. The mill started operation in eighteen. Seventy nine and between them they produced one point four million dollars in silver Bouillon and just over a year. There wasn't enough water in the San Pedro River to run one mill properly. Let alone to that. Were set up there. So it was decided the dam would be built debt gird et Al Jefflin's business partner was the man that started the stamp mill. Millville so it was up to him to take care of the damn issue. He made a contract with the Mormons in the town of Saint David about twenty miles north of Charleston to bring oxen and hard rock to begin to dam the river. The men of Saint David built a mile and a half of ditching bloom to get the water from the lake to the ten stamp mill. It was a bit lopsided because they needed the mill to be built so there was a reason for the dam and it wasn't made yet. The mill required the water to run as soon as it was built. There wasn't enough lumber to build the mill either. So Gertz people set up sawmills what Yuka mountains about ten miles away to bring enough lumber to construct the tombstone mill and then the Corbin Mel there would eventually be six mills pounding away. Twenty four seven long San Pedro River. The water was used in the mill and then return to little tunnel back the riverbed to continue downstream once everything was an operation the or made its way from the tough nut and lucky cuss minds in tombstone on wagons pulled by sixteen mule teams once the order was run through the stamp mill and smelled it. The resulting Bouillon was loaded into wagons drawn by four horses..
