"They're great thrillers, but they're also wonderful travelogues because number one. I want to go back to Little Palm Island. Or would you really quickly want to hear why I left? Tell me because a little Palm Island you share a wall with the next unit. They're like little duplex is they're they're beautiful and you have to take a boat out to the island. It's very exclusive, very expensive. This years and years ago, But there was a guy in the next unit. We shared a wall in all night long this guy's hacking and reason I can't sleep. So next morning, I go to the front desk and I said, Hey, You gotta move me and they said we can't move you and I was there with a young lady because we're full and I said, Well, that's it. Then I'm going to. Ah, just check me out. We're going to go down to key west. I'm not going to spend this kind of money if I can't sleep. Because this guy was just he was some like he was. I don't know what was going on, but I want it out. So we we cut a deal, just like Scott did and I left and you know they ate the rest of my reservation, and I decided not to make a stink about it. And I heard as I was picking up my luggage to leave to get on the boat to go back to the keys. I heard the same hack and weeds and I turned and I looked across the lobby, and I immediately felt guilty for complaining because the man that was hacking and wheezing up along was David Brinkley of NBC News. Hey, on E thought he's sick. You know, I thought he was being rude. He wasn't being rude. The poor man. It was sick, and I think he passed away. Not long after that, But when I picked up your book near Dark, which is out today and reading the openly opening chapter from Little Palm Island, I was reminded of that episode. I felt like such a heel and I still do all these years later. You couldn't have known I would have done the same thing. But what a story. I can't believe that and the fact that my book opens with my guy getting tossed. He didn't even choose to leave. He gets thrown out. I wasn't thrown out, but I was done paying those prices if I couldn't sleep. Had nice catching up with you, sir. You too, my friend. Good luck. It's always exciting. Thank you. Brad. Thor, Take care. Okay, buddy. You get the book is near dark. It is out now. It is another terrific work from Brad. Thor. So go go by that you will not be disappointed. On the weekend.

"Be a good time to be at the beach right now. You don't get sucked out, of course, because it might be a bit under tow. They always have those tankards you can see in the background are often the distance. Yes, I guess they're either coming into the ship channel or they're just leaving one of the other. But what always amazes me is how long they'll be out there. Remember Cruise ship was coming in. Took a full day and a half from when you saw it. 20 finally docked. Well takes it. It's not like you could turn those things on a dime to big ass boat. Yeah, it is the guest boat. Biggest Gulf Anyway, you look at Big waves. I don't We're going to get anything or not. We might get a little bit of rain, but always keep waiting for one to just come up the pipe, you know, come up through Houston, Just go up by 45. Spill through d F W and move on in Oklahoma but never seemed to happen like that. They always curve off to the east. But anyway, we'll We'll keep an eye on it. Just in case you have friends and relatives down the coast. Are in Lisi Anna than they need to be alert. All right now I've got to be honest with you. I I'm not a big convention guy. I'm kind of I take the old David Brinkley, The old news guy from the From the early days of news, But in the 19 nineties, he sat at the I guess it was the 1990 60 the Republican or Democratic convention. Maybe both of them. But he was just complaining about the fact that nothing ever goes on at these conventions. Nothing ever happened. Not like the old days. You always hear the old guys talk about the old days. Not like the old days when they'd be back room deals and riots in the streets and people fighting on the floor. Nothing goes on at these things. It's a two hour infomercial, and who cares? And I kind of got this sense that most conventions really are kind of like that. They don't really offer anything new. They want to make sure that they're putting their best foot forward. That you're seeing only everybody together. All on the same page moving towards a common goal, and that's to bring the country together by telling half the country that they suck. Never quite understood that But at the Democratic convention last week that quite honestly was the most depressing thing I've ever seen, and it turns out that they are telling you that you suck that America sucks. Everything sucks. But if you'll vote for them, they'll make it suck less. I guess I'm not sure that's even possible. But that's what their plan is. Trump is going to be. He's already been re nominated. They didn't do a big roll call type thing. In fact, the press that even cover the roll call this morning they actually had people at the Charlotte Convention Center. And they did the usual kind of roll call. There was only 3 50 people. They're all socially distance, all wearing masks, and they all did the roll call, and there you go. I didn't see any of it on television. Nobody bothered to cover. Trump is now the official nominee, Mike Pence, the official Republican vice presidential nominee. It's done. Kind of anticlimactic When you get right down to it. There's not really much to it. There we go. We did that. And Apparently the president's going to be speaking all three nights. Never one for everyone to give up a spotlight. But the press already has been covering this in such a negative way already. You're starting to see them talk about the darkness of this campaign In the darkness of this convention. It's just a very dark tone. And I thought, you know what were you watching? Last week, man? That was the most dark thing I've ever seen in my life. They practically say the country sucks. No, but it was great man. They all got together and had a great time Now. ABC news was critical. Of the Trump campaign, but they have promised because they've been called out multiple times. This is ABC News. They've been called out multiple times. Because nobody has been questioning Joe Biden, Kamala Harris. I've got to be careful how you say Camilla because apparently, he's a kamala. That means that you're racist. That's according to the Democrats. So Camilla Harris, If that is how you pronounce her name? I want to make sure maybe I got it backwards. Maybe Kamala is the correct way. And Camilla's the wrong way. The racist way. I don't know. I don't care A this point. Miss Harris. They said We're going to ask him tough questions. Don't you worry. Once we get a chance to sit down with Joe Biden, we're gonna ask some tough, tough, tough questions. You, Khun bet on that. Well, they finally got a chance at ABC News to ask some tough questions here is Ah piece of that interview, And by the way, I would give you the whole thing is too long, but it doesn't get any better. These were the tough questions put before Joe Biden and Miss Harris. Mr Vice President, As you know, it was more than 30 years ago. You first ran for President 1987. It's now 2020. And you're the candidate of change. I wonder after dreaming of that moment for more than three decades. What It was like, Well, you know, Way talked about this a little bit..

"Shared destiny shared responsibility. Respect, sustainability. Oh, here something else, folks, And I said, I said this. I believe over the weekend or whatever was if I hear another talking had say, contextualized. And they couldn't take contextualized. I'm so that is such a hackneyed phrase. I mean, the people get on these things. You remember gravitas. I remember the first time I heard that was Mario Cuomo. Mario Cuomo was one on one of them. Sunday morning talk shows like this week without David Brinkley or one of these and he talked about George W. Lacking gravitas and by gosh within hours every I mean, David Gregory. Every reporter. Everybody everywhere was saying gravitas and they didn't even heard the word before, But they were all saying gravitas and they do this with contextualized and in this space and all the rest of them, and so they get these hackneyed phrases. What there was. There was one a couple of years ago that I think they've about stop. I don't want to mention it again, because if I mention again, they might start using it again. But they just go off. I'm going. Can you please be original with some of the things you say? How about bovine scatological? Let's get that going. So you had violent crime wave sweeping across America's and I say big cities was also a cost smaller places to like Greenville, South Carolina. And so the White House press secretary. Let me see if I can get down on one thing, okay? The White House. Press it there Kayleigh Mcenany today, admonishing the briefing room following the question and the answer session. The majority reporters chose to focus on a tweet the president earlier in the day tweeted about NASCAR and so and this was about the bubble. Wallace. We're going to get that to hold on one sec. I'm trying to back this up and stop it. Okay, let me see. I'm gonna try to play this for you and Johnny. You'll tell me if it's too soft or too loud or just writes like Goldilocks. Okay, Now I can hear the thing for crying out loud, okay? I am nothing where I think it's because I spilled coffee at the beginning of the show. Maybe that was it. Mary. Let's see if I got it. I got that up. That should be going. That's the year. Oh, I see. It's probably up here. Hold on. Yeah, I got that. No, no, it should be. Now it should be there. Okay, now it should play. This is Kayleigh Mcenany. You know, I was asked Probably 12 questions about the Confederate flag. This president's focused on action and a little dismayed that I didn't receive one question on the deaths that we've got in this country this weekend. I don't receive one question about New York City shootings, doubling for the third straight week and over the last seven days, shooting skyrocket by 142%. Not one question. I didn't receive one question about five Children who were killed and I'll leave you with this remark by a dad broke my heart. A dad of an eight year old lost in Atlanta this weekend. They say black lives matters. You killed a child. She didn't do nothing to nobody was his quote. We need to be focused on securing our streets, making sure no lies or lost because all black lives matter. Out of David Dorn and that of this eight year old girl. Thank you Owe Mike drop So she walks out and they're going. Believe me, Believe me, nobody would even know where to or too fixated on bubble Wallace. So what's up with the bubble? Wallace thing? Well, bubble Wallace's denouncing POTUS and the hate from POTUS. And this ladies and gentlemen, after back and forth during the president bubble, Wallace NASCAR's only black driver, by the way. Denouncing hate from the POTUS. After President Trump suggested that Wallace apologize for saying he was a victim of a hate crime. This is from the New York Post. Wallace. His teammates this year reported an apparent noose in his garage, stole that the FBI leading German was not a hate crime and had been in place there since October 2019. At least It was not the source of the original claim. Wallace's response to Trump came in a tweeted statement that is addressed to the next generation and little ones following my footsteps. All the haters he says they're doing is elevating your voice and platform to much greater heights. Calling for people to always deal with hate being thrown at you with love. Even when it's hate from POTUS. Love winds. What I mean, hate what they're trying to get you to his own up. Something that was stupid. You had a connection fit over what you called A noose straight up news even after it was determined that it was a garage door. Pull you said this was a straight up news. It was a garage door pull. Good grave. So in a morning suite this morning, Trump wrote as bubble while it's apologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers and officials who came to his aid, stood by his side and were willing to sacrifice everything for him on Lee to find out that the whole thing was just another hoax. That and flag decision has caused lowest ratings ever. So is this afternoon, the press conference, White House press secretary Kayleigh Mcenany said she spoke to Trump and that he clarified he wasn't taking a position on the display of the Confederate flags that races Which by the way, NASCAR's band and that he is expressing a generalized concerned about a rush to judgment in cases of alleged hate crimes, she says. I think it's important that we point out The fact that there was no hate crime. The FBI concluded that President Trump was merely saying that Mr Wallace should agree with that consensus, but he won't. He says this was a straight up news. What if it was a straight up news? Nooses are not racist. There was a straight up news and that had nothing to do with you or anybody was black. It had to do with pulling down the garage door. For the love of Peter, Paul and Mary. By the way, they called farmers. Ah, farmers not or whatever. But it's used.

"But let's get into because there's I wanna I wanna take Terry's call but not just yet because it's a huge other issue that I do want to talk about I think it's an important question but I want to get Larry calling from Florida online one all about the new stations and we're gonna take Lloyd Larry welcome to the show happy Friday to you hi Dana first off I just want to start off by saying not as far as I'm concerned real journalism is dead I studied it back in high school when we had to have to take the mandatory courses for in its own versus communism and we studied journalism and I learned all about tabloid tabloid the headlines in yellow journalism and basically that's what I mostly see nowadays on any kind of network news I stopped watching it years ago when it seemed like it was more of a performance and was all ratings based in I actually served on some newspaper review committees analyzing programming for viewers and and they didn't like my opinion on different stuff because we saw how a lot of stuff being directed so we mostly refer to our local newspaper which is very community oriented because this local news and then as far as regular news we listened programs like yours and now recently they've been getting into newsmax but I'm from that generation that was very dependent upon things like listening to David Brinkley and Huntley and and we we can get just the news or Walter Cronkite and none of that seems to exist anymore at all it totally all a show and it's hard to just get faction in even in newspapers nowadays that so it's such a it's a disturbing trend because of the history and I can see how a lot of it looks looks like it goes full circle to where so much of it is really yellow journalism that used to drive masses of people so you have right you have to really get a form for what you want to try to get into there's lots of brands out there but you you have to really you know you got to really see yes the sift through it yeah yeah get the meat that is awesome yeah exactly I appreciate the call and my friend it is tough it is incredibly tough with all of that for sure I we have Florida man coming up don't go anywhere because they're more open lines a four four three four four Dana to things that we're gonna get into this whole business with the senator Burr and waffler and the stock selling scandal we we need to talk about that I am one of the.

"Big part of this whole thing why did they give it to you cranium jump are you sure the David to Ukraine well that's what the word is this is a sectional novices this is being interested in propagated by the Russian security services themselves now house Democrats are moving forward on an impeachment report and the president has been reaching out to Republicans ahead of acetic try posting lawmakers for lunch is at the White House and weekends at camp David Brinkley I want to truck just a few weeks ago Senate Republicans appear divided about whether to target hunter Biden I tried to resist turning the send it into a circus I don't want to go after Joe and hunter Biden because people are mad that tribes not getting a fair deal in the house but now they're asking for documents and more the vice president's son was serving on the board that was run by the dirtiest guide the Ukraine I am disappointed quite frankly I'm angered by the fact he knows me she knows my son he knows there's nothing to this and joining me now is the chair of the house intelligence committee congressman Adam Schiff connection shift welcome back with plastic you virtually let me start with this you've said that you can continue to investigate while also compiling your report how did what does that look like and and and is or is it more for show or is there a we do have some evidence of one medications going to happen next week certainly not for show I mean there's more work to be done but at the same time we've already cumulated quite overwhelming evidence that the president once again sought for interference election conditioned official acts White House meeting that Ukraine desperately wanted as well as four hundred million dollars of bipartisan taxpayer funding to get these political investigations that he thought would help his reelection so you know we view this is urgent we have a another election in which the president is threatening more foreign interference but the same time there are still other witnesses other documents that we would like to obtain but we're not willing to go the months and months and months of rope a dope in the courts which Mister bush would more than love for us to do what you have somebody right now left part of the who according to his attorney this is one of these associates of Mr Giuliani that apparently was always with the money's Ukraine trips and and may have been involved in a campaign finance scheme that's being investigated right now he says he has some things to talk to Congress about you can hear from well we have already subpoenaed him for documents and we're in discussions with the Southern District of New York so we are pursuing it but at the same time we'd like to know well what the documents have to say before we make a decision about witnesses this is why we subpoenaed Pompeii for documents and others for documents as we saw during the hearings that we had yeah those documents can be awfully important to knowing the right questions some documents actually a four year investigation you know as a for a request by up by an outside group it ended up getting some documents that raised more questions the Thai Rudy Giuliani confirm some phone calls between green Giuliani and the secretary of state confirm of you know Newt gotten those articles that that that Giuliani was spreading around from the state department IG so there's more documents to get more evidence it let me I want to put you have all these open lead to just seems odd the church stopping well when I look at all these openly if you knew you had the energy deal that it's important we're not stopping but but it's also important of this truck in using knowledge this and and I find this remarkable the evidence is already overwhelmed right the evidence is already overwhelmed the question as a child in a court room you know that you know the political party of to me that's true that's true but the fact that Republicans may be derelict in their responsibility doesn't relieve us of our obligation to our constitutional duty and we feel an urgency about that so even as we compiled this report even as we submit evidence to the Judiciary Committee we're going to continue our investigation but we are not going to let the administration's stonewalling us stop us and if people are acknowledging and I think they're quite right that the evidence is overwhelming you have to ask one more would be necessary to show Republicans indeed is there anything that could move Republic when I do their duty let me give you one example because it's one that that that that a lot of Republicans are hanging their hat on that if there is one piece of evidence you have not been able to surface it is direct at it is this idea that the president when did he order that the aid itself was to be had with how as a quid pro quo the only importance online saying that we needed we have there was a meeting and he sounded you don't have the direct this is not that they're hanging their hat on I I realize that you know and I know you could say it's a thin reed but it is a read talk let's look at this firstly hung there had on there's no evidence of a quid pro quo then there was overwhelming evidence of quid pro quo now summer hang their hat on what what's your evidence of the present with held the military aid the president's own chief of staff has admitted they withheld the military aid to get this investigation this crazy the end scene server investigation which is part of a Russian disinformation campaign the president's own chief of staff I mean they they seem to be saying unless Donald Trump rights out I bribed Ukraine the evidence will be insufficient what every juror is told and I don't think that the Senate is different than a jury here at least it shouldn't be is they don't leave their common sense at the door there was no plausible explanation one and that was the president wanted this leverage to get Ukraine to do is political dirty work do you are you gonna be house impeachment manager that'll be up to the speaker that's up to speak would you like to be one would you like to be one of the process I don't I want to get ahead of where we are which is we have an even brought up articles made a decision about articles you don't is it possible you don't that that articles are not filed this year I I don't want to prejudge the outcome here I do think the evidence the facts of what the president did a really not contest that they're largely not contest that's the remarkable thing so the question is knowing the president sought for interference on election knowing that a condition official acts to get political favors are we prepared to say that that's that's okay that's consistent with the duties of the office and I will say this members are gonna have to think hard about two things one the knowledge that if we do nothing it is very likely the president will do this again but second are Republicans prepare to say that they will allow this president and any future president to simply stone wall the Congress and refuse to provide evidence and if they do it means that the impeachment clause analogy and more than that it means that our oversight ability is also known I know where you are in the whistle blower and the and the the leaf that you really don't need to hear from the whistleblower anymore but she did pledge that the intelligence can we would hear from the whistleblower in some form or another are you going to fulfill that pledge we had a deep interest in having the whistleblower testify until two things happen one we're able to prove everything the whistleblower complaint with witnesses that had first information have information and second the president and his allies effectively put that whistleblowers life in danger the president said the whistleblower and other should be treated as a traitor or a spy and we ought to use the penalty we used to use for traitors spies and that's the death penalty so here's the thing check we don't need the whistle blowers secondhand evidence anymore it would only serve to endanger this person and to gratify the president's desire for retribution and that is not a good enough reason to bring in the whistleblower I have one last thing on on the Senate trial is one of the reasons you're not gonna fight to try to in the courts right now for Bolton is that you believe there's this theory that's been on I think talking points memo a little news organization Josh Marshall had there's a there's a legal theory what work run around that it's a lot easier to get the Chief Justice to compel jumbled the testified at a Senate trial than it would be waiting around to get into Congress divided that I think that may very well be true out of people and John Bolton whose deputies had the courage to come in and testify I'm going to have to answer one day why they say what they knew for a book rather than tell the country when the country needed to know but I do think that when it comes to documents and witnesses that if it comes to trial and again we're getting far down the road here that the Chief Justice will have to make a decision on request for witnesses and documents and and so I don't envy that job he may say that you should be a witness they may want to call you well now you're ready if if the Senate wants to call me as a witness and they pretty much made the decision not to take this process seriously I'm not a fact witness I was the chairman of one of the committee's doing an investigation I'm not in the shoes of a special counsel I don't work for the justice department all I can relate is with the witnesses said in deposition and and open hearings and that's no reason to call me is it with this Adam Schiff I'm gonna leave it there chair of the house intelligence committee so right now no public hearings scheduled for any time in the rest of this year well we don't foreclose the possibility of others all right and shift Democrat from California xtramath journeys thank you and joining me now is Republican senator Roger wicker of Mississippi is a member of the Armed Services Committee also co chairs the commission on security and cooperation in Europe center with a walking back me the presser thank you right here I'm a cert was something that we got a report on earlier this week and it has to do with I suppose an intelligence briefing that senators have received first let me play with the only hill said about Russia and Ukraine at the hearing earlier this week take a listen right now Russian security services on their proxies have geared up to repeat their interference in the twenty twenty election we're running out of time to stop them in the course of this investigation I would ask that you please not promote politically driven full services okay advanced Russian interests can you confirm that you guys have been given an intelligence briefing on this issue that Russia is trying to frame you correct some members have I have not okay but I'm I'm not at all surprised that Russia is gearing up not at all surprised that she's correct the Russian tried to interfere in two thousand sixteen also you're crazy ins themselves tried to interfere also but check out big difference between the two when you can it's like I I I understand there's individual Ukrainians who were upset that the that candidate Donald Trump wanted Crimea stay with Russia is it the same as the Russian government and putting ordering a full fledge interference immunity times can I'm concerned about both I'm concerned about both but let me say this chart I just have to start I totally disagree with your lead in to this whole show to talk about I think the the Washington punditry is someone in a bubble I think the Democrats had a bad week went out last week well okay for one thing the polls are turning in the president's favor you got the market poll in Wisconsin which is the gold standard of Wisconsin post then you got the Emerson poll which is in a nationwide poll which actually shows that trumps favorability going up and I just think the people out there don't think the system this investigation is fair they know that the only Democrat witnesses were all allowed to be called none of the witnesses they were they made for quite some of them were we were in the call there were some witnesses a refund it wasn't as a mentor and here's what happened there there were three witnesses that Democrats asked for and Republicans asphalt for those three witnesses enough got called none of the witnesses that were exclusively called by the Republicans were were asked in an interview you asked the question about the whistleblower and and so chairman shift has decided that it wouldn't be beneficial to his case well it might be beneficial if some of the Republicans were allowed to cross examine this person so I so totally totally inadequate I understand you disagree all right let me let me put up with an answer she's no liberal last time I checked in in and take on this impeachment process has to impeachment itself the case has been so clearly made you wonder what exactly the Senate will be left doing how will they hold a lengthy trial with the case this clear who exactly will be the president's witnesses those who testified that he didn't do what he appears to have done and would never do it respond if taken in and I will I just totally disagree with you on that and and of course she writes a column every week in the Wall Street journal and and it's the first on them I've just returned out but you know again let me go back to what the public is saying I do think the public is kind of tuning out kind of bored I think there's a political argument and there's a legal argument do you let's set aside the political organizing all troubled by the behavior of the president Rudy Giuliani what was done here the fact that he mentioned Biden's never talk about corruption the phone call any of this stuff trouble I think the phone call and I read the transcript would back and read it last night and.

Seven one eight seven seven to nine one eight two five five who the faves out there may, maybe a lot of our listeners really wanna see the incumbent President Trump, be reelected? I, I know there's a strong contingent of Trump's supporters among WTI EV's listeners. Welcome calls from from any of you as well. And, and we can talk all about the, the coming political campaign. Now, his, here's a here's something that came from people to judge the mayor of south bend, Indiana. Thirty seven year old gentlemen, who is considered to be very smart, intellectual. And he is saying that, that President Trump wants to worsen, the situation on the US Mexican border, so that he can have a big issue, and brow people up the heading into the twenty twenty election. The quote in axios from Pete mayor Pete is the president need. This crisis to get worse. Even would makes a liar out of him. That's what this is people. Speaking as gain headquarters in south bend. I don't think he's worried about that. I think he cares. If it gets better. I don't think he'd be he cares, if it gets better, but he certainly doesn't benefit from comprehensively fixing. The problem is that part of the problem in American politics. And you know, it may be something to some degree politicians of all stripes, are guilty of this of perpetuating problems. So they can have something to, to talk about or to point fingers at the other side about. Is the president ready to somehow worse than the problem on the US Mexican border so that he can rile up base and scare people at cetera et cetera is something that that is a strategy. Let's hear what Jim for berry has to say. Good morning, Jim. I just wanted to weigh in on the scotch about the. Trolley of news reporters and, and on site into this last week with the conflict of interest that you had. Remember thinking about this one time when Clinton's reelected? Great after they announced that he won. David Brinkley is on the air and he thought his microphone was off, and it said, you may remember this, he said, more boring years, and I went over the air, and I remember thinking at the time that's such a testament, his neutrality because I never knew with. But I watched the frisbee a lot on Sunday morning show and so forth. And I never knew it was maybe I was missing something. But that to me was true sign of a real journalist being able to, to mask it like that. But. But. Last week. I. You know, like talking. About the, the newspaper article about the Bernie rally and what the beauty is absolutely blew me away with, with your. Because it just what we made me miss the point that I was making and to listen to you that day it would seem that never is a newspaper headline anything. But back those never any biased in, in it at all. And what I was trying to say that the obvious thing about that rally was that it was a disappointing torque turnout. And I would have thought that would have been the headline but that would have gotten criticism. So he went with the number and you made it sound like Mike. God, no never has a five reporting, I called in which some time ago and told you about a story in Vermont twenty years ago, thirty thirty years ago now, when they have the act, two hundred votes in each of the towns to eliminate the act to under plans, and the Burlington free press headlines said mixed reviews that two hundred hundred and twelve towns voted on it, and a hundred three said, no act two hundred plants. They said mixed reviews. Times ARGUS said that two hundred trust that town meeting. The same article same information two very different perspectives. But I just I did a little. Googling after the show last week about bias reporting. And I saw a study in nettlesome university out west, but it was they had fifty different ways the newspaper job biased in the angle of a picture. Then how far away the picture is and the different variations in the headline the size of the print put it in the newspaper. One.

"Nine today in Berlin New Hampshire. Maybe it's pronounced Berlin. Vice president bite me speaking about climate chase next essential threat. We face and we know. And you know that there are they tell us we have not a whole lot of time to begin to change the direction. Now, the first thing I would do day one is president. I've rejoined the Paris climate accord, which we Brockton classic. It wouldn't do Diddley squat. We would rejoin the Paris climate accord, you know what the dirty little secret, here is, is that no matter where you look, no matter what poll is taken when people are asked to rank the issues from top to bottom level of importance climate change weighed down at the bottom. It's pretty much the case across all demographics. There's a little bit higher among Democrats, but even among Democrats, it's not an a top five. And these people are frustrated to no end. I mean they have been trying since the nineteen eighties to do what essentially trying to cause a shift in public opinion that would result in the granting. Of new expansive powers by the government. To Levy taxes on certain resources products and behavior that the left wants to limit all climate change is, it's a way of elevating and promoting large government liberalism, socialism or what have you. And they are they're beyond frustration at their ability to get people to pay attention to it and take it seriously. I'm a large number of people and here again, there's, there's an intellectual reason why they're having such trouble. For people my age my memory of this goes back to the nineteen eighties. I, I came across the whole concept of global warming while watching this week with David Brinkley one Sunday morning. They had some guests on their named up in Heimer, who has some climate change scientists from somewhere, some northeastern Ivy league school, and he was founding the warning bell. He was painting, a picture of dooms sea level rising into the coasts, New York City. Miami gone. Perhaps he said in twenty years. We've got twenty years. So Brinkley says, assure about this we'll know but we can't afford to not take action in case where right? And I've been to notice all the predictions were for thirty years from now forty years from now and they still are even the predictions twenty years ago by now nineteen eighty that's forty years ago, this stuff should've started happening, and it isn't, and I think one of the problems is that they've been crying wolf for so long. That, that there isn't any evidence of climate change there. So they try to save this inclement weather here that inclement weather there, but they just can't make it stick Biden. I'm gonna tell you right Biden knows that he is uttering pure Bs. He knows membership in the Paris. Accords would not mean a damn thing. All he's doing his pandering. He's pandering to the democrat base. And I don't know what percentage of them are big on this. But the fact is, they have not been able to sell this and they've worn people down on it now that have had to get so ridiculous. Some of their future future predictions of that it it's, it's one of the greatest examples of how wrong liberals are. And how catastrophic solutions to problems would be if they had the chance to be in charge of the solutions. This is a non existent problem. Anyway. The climate's always changing the argument we're responsible for it as absurd. We don't have that kind of power. Proof of that as we can't. 'cause anything we can't change anything. We can't stop a thunderstorm from coming. We can't cause a hurricane to weaken. We can't change its direction. We can't create one, we can't say hurricane hurricane won a hurricane today, start off the coast of Africa. We need another. We can do we are totally reactive to this. And then once these include things we to stop them, and they absurdly come around and say, yeah, well, they're happening because of our SUV's or whatever the latest excuses..

"Hello, everybody. Mark Levin here. Our number eight seven seven three eight one three eight one one me eight seven seven three eight one three eight one one. Unfortunately. Unfortunately here, ladies and gentlemen. The president has drawn a bed judge in my view when it comes to some of these challenges on. The subpoenas will see he's on the judge who was appointed by Bracknell house. Obama. And the judge fast tracks fight of a congressional subpoena. Trump financial records. So we'll see how this goes. But she's definitely leftist. Maybe she'll come to her senses. One of these decisions and do the right thing on these subpoena battles. But that's unfortunate. Now, also, I wanna continue here. She can hear what's going on today. David brinkley. Douglas Brinkley is supposed to be a historian. But more and more. He's a left-wing quick. And. More. He's a left-wing quick. And he was on CNN today where left wing quacks go. And he was interviewed by. Dumb doorknob John Berman. Cut five go are we in a consequential choices were hovering on a constitutional crisis? I don't know for in the middle of one right now hovering in the fence that people are starting to wonder for the executive legislative branches are broken part of our constitutional mandate is that these French is get along, and someway, and right now, we're seeing the big power play by the White House to treat congress as a non entity to have an attorney general Bill bar come come and act, so condescending and airgun cold-shouldered to the congressional judiciary committee with stunning because he really was visually showing contempt for congress as a institution. Wow. He must be a genius. He must be a genius. Actually, he doesn't sound like a genius in the least as do you folks? In a constitutional crisis hovering on a constitutional crisis. I don't know in the middle of one right now. So this is the game plan told you create the perception of crisis unload zillion subpoenas. The purpose of which is to demand information that you know, will not be provided to create court cases out of it. Involved state democrat officials. Involve, of course, the democrat party media. Overwhelm. The administration was subpoenas over the wellm the administration with hearings and investigations. Even though it just went through a criminal investigation. Even the president has done a damn thing. Even though he's the victim of Coa temp by the Obama administration, the Hillary Clinton campaign. No consequence. So now they declare a constitutional crisis. Now, we're in a constitute doesn't feel like when a constitutional crisis. Folks. Does it feel like we have a president who's had a control? Not in the least what's out of control is the democrat party. You Republicans conservatives and independence you need to understand what's going on here. The democrat party has control of the house of representatives. And it is using the house of representatives to try and win the twenty twenty election. It is using the house of representatives to try and reverse the election results 2016, it is using the house of representatives has Democrats. To try and disenfranchise Republicans and independence and sometimes Kratz who voted for Donald Trump. This is a party power play. And then they wrap themselves in the constitution. They wrap themselves and separation of powers they wrap themselves in the law while you can't the five law meaning them. You have don't defense against us. No, no, no. You get in front of us. And you get down on your hands and knees and you'll do it. We tell you to do. Really? Thomas Jefferson, and he wasn't alone. Thomas Jefferson spoke about the tyranny of the legislature. You can have tyranny in different forms, ladies and gentlemen. You can have tyranny with a iron fisted dictator monarch. You have tyranny with judicial oligarchy. On elected courts, and you can have tyranny of the mob as represented right now by the house of representatives. The tyranny of the many. Our constitution is set up the try and prevent that. But when you have one branch one half of one branch of the three branches of government that refuses to play by the rules. And they condemns the target of their tyranny refusing to play by the rules. You can see the situation that confronts us. An attorney general to be held in contempt because he wouldn't break the law a present the United States who opened up his books and the files and his staff to hostile prosecutors has obstructed Justice. Innocent individuals who are being dragged in front of these these Soviet like star chamber tribunals to humiliate them run up their legal bills, if they don't come before congress. They should go to jail. People who despise the constitutional order going on and on about how they represent the rule of law. How they're standing up for the constitution. But the targets this vicious campaign somehow are undermining the constitution. Perfect example, Jerry Nadler. On MSNBC. They go back and forth between CNN and MSNBC and CNN and MSNBC all the time leaking to the New York Times and the Washington Post cut six go, but brought us here is that we have to defend constitutional form of government. This is a lawless administration. It.

Just like when the cubs at a young catch area. Randy hundred shine ever get him Randy hundred. Yes. All right. All right. And you said it properly, but there is a famous evening news duo that then. And it was Huntley Brinkley chug Hutley, issuing teal and David Brinkley Huntley break, so Chicagoans guidelines. I can say that because I'm Fred we are. For years. Any Hutley Hutley founded key, but I regress, let's do this. Let's vote right now prior to yesterday. Had you ever heard of the phrase he threw and then quote my doing quote marks. He's a man. Six. Everyone's talking about he threw Maddix writers Evans pose. Jesse said it to you. Great job. Everybody. I defy anyone that wasn't in the game. As today to tell me what Maddox wise that they mentioned that during the game. Because listen, I watched it Len Kasper headed around the eighth inning. Turns out it was like one guy that coined this phrase from the best I can ascertain a while back about nine or ten years ago. Yeah. And now all of a sudden, and what it is. Maybe there's a reason that we don't hear about it stupid. Well, because it doesn't happen. Okay. That's that's even better reason. It hasn't happened to a Cup pitchers since two thousand and one what is up next? Fred it's pitching a complete game shutout in fewer than one hundred pitches. Eight ninety nine pitches are. Fewer we'd be a medics, right? Greg maddux. Evidently through thirteen of these. Is I tried to find out here? No one else through more than about three or four. I believe I think someone through eight. Yeah. But yeah, it doesn't happen. Very often. I wish it would happen more. Snappy, two minutes, twenty eight seconds, exactly. Yeah. So. I want to start with this Twitter post here. Let's start first SOX fans. Three three two three seven seven six. Player of the month. Right commanders. Yeah. All right. Matterson player of the month. All right. What's the most fun thing to watch about Tim Anderson? I have to be well hitting base running fielding. You can vote gotta be hitting head right for resisting four zero three. Yeah. I know for April. Yeah. Not for me the most important. I I I think the most exciting thing when you're watching him as him running the bases. Yes. It's a little scattered. But yeah. Him run to the basis is pretty exciting him hitting. It's funny because both shortstops in Chicago and people will criticize both both shortstops in Chicago over tendency to swing for the fences who doesn't well. Yeah. Nowadays. Yeah. Nowadays, you're right. But they do have a tendency to swing for the fences. But yeah, the probably the most fun thing, especially when he's ten for ten in stolen base attempts. That's his right. Tim Anderson is probably running the basis. Broke that up all the talk is the last ten years, and it's backed up by you know, Analytica the metrics skies. Stolen bases. Don't do it. Right. I understand if you don't. They're not successful. All right. The same reason. People say you shouldn't sacrifice precious thing you own twenty-seven outs. So. Now, it's up that was used to be like if you're not successful seventy five percent, stealing then even those. Seventy percent of the time. You are safe. The one fourth of the times that you're out ruins everything. Guys, not offset the other day. But now it's up to eighty right? But what if you're one hundred percent right which he is right now. Still a hundred percent. You know, when someone says, it's still. Yeah. I don't know if I have my beef sandy right now. But let me tell you something. If I hear any more times, and then heads month, the phrase is not sustainable what I'm gonna do. Because maybe it is. Right. You know, you'd never know. It's a crutch it's a crutch like a regression to the mean. Well, we got John the man with the numbers to once. Well, you know, what there is such a thing as progression to the main that now, right? So no, you can't steal. Yeah. If you're ten for ten might be twenty four twenty five probably cherry picking now. He's only going the times that he can feel successful. They're not going to run into outs. But Tim Anders. Well, to be honest. You should never run. You should only run when you thinking you'd be successful. You you know, you should never. Well, the manager. Do they still give the stolen? Yeah. I would think they do. But also, there's a big thing. Now, where if if the man if the player doesn't think he can read. The pitcher that he's probably not gonna wanna go. And they'll probably talk about that. Hopefully, they will talk about that ahead of time. Then they'll sit Tim Anderson down and say, here's the here's the pickoff move for this guy, this guy this guy. So if you get our base that it's up to you. They may they may do that as with the vendor. So Tim Anderson's batting average of April. Our prize, my of three is a knack sustainable now. That's not sustainable that phrase. I hit. Now as I was doing in may. Yeah, he's got two hits and two for two thou he's he's two for fifteen. So. Yeah. So now, he's not into three forty two you fall fast. When you're the four hundred Mark, and you know, only get a couple of hits. Your fault fast. But you know, what else you can do if you're a picture you can have your ERA also make a huge jump. That's right. Kyle Hendricks started today with a five point three three earned-run average earned on having sex. And he ended the day piece together nine innings. No runs runs. He drops down to three point nine three. That's again early here. Especially early the year when you only have a certain number starts three three two three seven seven six. So cub fans. What's the most fun thing to watch and observe and enjoy about Harvey bias same question is Kim Anderson hitting base renting fielding. Spring in big bed shine, big bad. Wonder, hey, how could you give us some early results here and vote at ESPN one thousand SOX fans how have they responded so far percentage wise? What's the ranking here? Sox fans have voted and you're certainly welcome to continue to vote Murphy nine till noon. See if the I've learned of the early numbers, even with what you might call it a sample size that will certainly have by noon. They often change much. It's really like when you just post. It was crazy. TV do that. Of whatever that'd be sports, Chicago, that's jumping all over the place. Right. Be totally gone. They're doing every all the other games. It's be called something. Everything about the cubs is the name, and is Chicago content. Whatever it doesn't matter. So SOX fans. How did the SOX fans big bed? Sean respond so far percentage wise one don't you do this plays? Why don't you go, right? From the top down. What's in first place? Second place third place. Watching Tim Anderson hit run the basis or field. Overwhemling thugs fans. Like, the watch Tim Anderson hit. Percent. And then his base running seventeen. Yup. And bringing up the rear is the fielding at five percent. I'm pretty much. We we knew fielding. We'll be. Yeah. Last place twenty years last year. He's got eight already. So he's still got one hundred thirty some games to play this year. So would you say, correct? Would you say this is something that can improve? Or is this him for the next five seven ten years. I'm talking just the defense. It can definitely improve. Steve is very improvable was work at it. You know, you're you're not bored with defensive skills. Yeah. Your defenses you work on defense. Stick to fray. So hopefully, he would continue to work at his defense as much as he works and everything else which STAN shot, which is Fred, which is is is is to improve over a career fielding base running or hitting. I don't know the answer. I'm thinking it through right now. Let's take a look Sean cut fans at the same question. What is the most fun thing to watch and observe and enjoy about heavy buying for hobby. By is definitely fielding was number one whole voted fifty six percent. I've field to hold on. Sean student. I'm so proud of everyone that voted on this question. I thought it would be a blow out with fielding like the bottom. We're gonna talk about hobby by a little bit later on many other things because I actually think hitting on the bottom. I think I think it's feeling and then is base running. Did you know, right? Pimco head shot him after fielding would be base running for it said at twenty seven percent and then bringing up the rear is hitting seventeen percent. That's where I would go. His or watch hit though too. Because you never know what's going to happen. Did you know he's got I think I have. This has ten homers this year by us. How many guests at put in a spot? I saw yesterday's research. How many homers by has has hit what they call left field centerfield or right of center. So I'm guessing six of his tenure right of centre. Here's one to left field outta ten. Now. That's the guy and he's got I believe like three to center, and like you said, I believe it's six or so give or take four six. Six three and one you. He's got six to write a right-center. Now. That's a that's a hitter that can sustain right because when they see what he's doing. And instead of coming inside shocking. Not what you wear when it's called. I remember the very first time I saw hobby by as what King County to watch when he was playing Peoria to say and I saw him he was on the same team. Why it couldn't have been that one? But he he was on the same team with a couple of other guys watched him. And he just pulled the ball that Aleph you live just the rocket shot down the left you live, and you could tell right away that he had the quick bat. He was funding the basis and the players developed into Dow runner-up in the MVP last year just a lot of fun to watch. We're gonna talk about Harvey by his his his fielding, Tim Anderson. Also, I'd like to have you vote right now prior to yesterday had you ever heard the phrase he's through a man. Panics and in the ninth inning is a Twitter pole and the ninth inning last night. If you were still watching or if you read this morning or check out the socks play by play in the ninth inning SOX. You're down six to one something happened in the top of the ninth inning that. I don't think I saw coming me. I don't think I like it. The White Sox pulled the white flag is the way I'm gonna phrase, okay? In the top of the nineteen not to Ricky Renteria Jesse Rogers coming along at about a half hour. Go down on a farm White Sox AA, let a biz talk coming up any earlier topics jump in right now..

So what is what is the nature of this battle? I know that I sent out a tweet all over Chris Cuomo. I got a couple of very nice texts from Chuck Todd thanking me Chuck Todd had some things to say about Cuomo personally to me on my Texan. I will not share because it's not my business, but it did seem to get ugly. What's what's the backstory backs? One of the major issues of courses that they work for competing networks, but I don't know. Chris Cuomo said that Chuck Todd is no Jake tapper. That's what he said in an interview unprovoked. Really, right. I I don't know why the shot like that at a left field. But that's what he said. And of course, for the folks at the wheel is is Jake tapper works the same network. And he's on the same time with his state of the union Sunday morning show, and Chris trying to tell people don't watch shock NBC. Meet the press, you'll get a better quality show. Same time on our network with Jake tapper. But so that's I mean, that's all that's the extent of the analysis that I can do is that just competing. But I don't know why Chris Cuomo is not that bright. Now, he's failing in the ratings. They can't crack a million nobody on CNN Ken in prime time. So I, you know, maybe he's just looking for attention. I guess. Maybe that's what it is. I don't know. But I think Chuck Todd does a damn good job on meet the press. He does it does a great job. And I liked take topper to take his great fact, there has been in fact tapper would never say something like never in a million years. Jake was published set the Kristen, but there's been five or ten times over the last couple of years when his network specifically CNN MSNBC has said or done some terrible things to President Trump and Jake tapper goes on record on Twitter. Just hey that ain't me. I remember when I tweeted Jake top you remember this morning from Yankee Stadium on day him unless they're Holt about the Sean Nazi situation. Take tapa was like listen said don't let me in there. I've never called Donald Trump in Nazi. I don't think it's okay to call Donald Trump and Naci. So he it's completely the antithesis which topper that is correct. And he also had the onions to call out this. We'll talk about this later. A congressman, Omar. He's one of the ones one in few that called her out on the anti-semitism. Everybody else was ignoring it's Jake tapper has some gravitas himself. I dunno. Chris Cuomo says he seems like, you know, he's just an attention seekers. What he is. And I know you like him. I think he does a good job. I don't watch Cuomo Torah Chris Cuomo. He's good look. He's engaging. I think he's a pretty good interview. I don't think he's all that smart though. He's not that bright. And if it wasn't for his last name, he nor his brother would we wouldn't be talking about either one of them. I'm not sure about his brother, but certainly him. I mean, his brother actually speaks to the Democrats of New York City does. But my my proposition is that it's because of his name that he's the governor of New York because his name is I would say that is because of his name he got the job initially. You don't win four terms because of your last name he may have gotten up to me because of his last name, but whether you want to. Accepted or not he speaks to New Yorkers. They like this guy. They love this guy. He'll win a fifth time that is last name anymore. Well, he's not loved he's not love while the, you know, the poll came out last week, and he is kind of love not as much as attends but significantly more than build the Blasi that could've poll actually high Cuomo over fifty percent approval. He's about to win for the fifth consecutive time. If he wants honestly, those types of numbers that Trump gets that. So that's not exactly overwhelming. Love who gets seventy percent these. Let's see a Jimani Williams. That's the point that if you get number fifty percent in this divided America. Whether you're Trump or Cuomo Geraci, don't pretty good. I mean, right. If you think about it seems like every other person, I don't know disagrees. People fleeing the state in record numbers, it's the number one state, but people are fleeing old great one again by LANCELOT. So so what's the point the point is if it was that bad and people really dislike them, and I know people don't vote, I get I get all that the majority of people don't vote, but whether we want accepted or not we live in a city that is just it's Democrats won. It is it's never fun getting hit by a train that was brilliant. Yeah. So I don't know whatever. It's all good. He married Kennedy. And. Who did Andrew called injured? Right. Right. Any divorced now. He's the chef the lady Chris's, not married, right? I believe he is is he married? Okay. I really don't know. I don't follow these people that closely. But I think he is or the showing pictures of them in the summer in the Hamptons coming out of the war of water splash, like John Kennedy, jR, and it just seems thought they said something about being an eligible bachelor. Who is white famous. No. I've never heard. Okay. No. She's she's an obscure stripper. She was going to say she's probably hot though, she hot. Sure, she is. And she's not a stripper. She she is okay. Expect. Yeah. Pretty dumb one eight hundred eight four eight WABC one eight hundred eight four eight ninety two twenty two. We'll take a short break. Don, lemon just got married as well. Is that Raleigh proposed to buy who buy some real estate agent to guy real estate magnet? I guess a guy. Yeah. Yeah. In his knees. Yeah. Guy. They've got these any proposes. Well, does everybody know that Don lemon gay? They do. Now. I think so. Okay. I didn't know he's been bust out of the closet for. Right. Right. I thought that gay people largely not everyone, but largely more well until be happy. Don, lemon seems such a miserable son of a bitch. I guess again. I don't watch it. I see him on New Year's Eve when he's Heff drunk all the time Hamtramck waste. FLU shooting shooting around on on the cable didn't different channels. Yeah. He seems happy that night. Right. But the rest of the year, I never lot nine mice. The shots in Chuck Todd's is gonna stop by. We have three other great guests today in a ton of great stories. Barney and cinema. Potty will come in. Right back. Owning seventy seven ABC. Masters is underway about film Nicholson's day yesterday. Not just fill all the big names. Even tiger only a couple of strokes five. Well, listen, you want a chance.

"This the road to redemption though, for politicians who've been involved in racist incidents, specifically David Brinkley calling for what North Carolina, and of course, upon in can redeem himself, but I don't think he will ever be forgiving. This out very big. To. Virginia. Addressing black is one thing. But have a clan member. Is unforgivable. Shannon calling from California bay area. There are so many decent people available Irvine public office after incident voters should at least. Yeah. Whether they want a new election. Violent criminal continuing to hold public office. JT Michaels from rural northwest lower Michigan. Although I understand the racism of the old black safe until recently. I had no idea directing at Michael Jackson, including face colored would be considered racist. I thought it was because we honored because I am white. I can only trust my black sisters and brothers. When they say, it is hurtful, so whether a politician can be redeemed needs to be determined by solid truth and reconciliation style work between the offending politician. And members of whichever community of color have been oppressed. I also asked.

"Yeah. A lot of through. And so what you see here is that in that. That's an instance, where there was an old salt line clearly of lines of segregation and discrimination, and a lot of people celebrate that line being healed. But what happens is starting nineteen seventies. There's this move towards diversities move towards cultural nationalism move towards really separatism across the board. White black Latino their new forms of identity, really take hold and there's less of a instinct to move to the center. So so race does become a driving force here there, really? It's really one of many. I think it really seems prominent to us in this moment right now when white nationalism has really seen a revival. But if you look across these past four decades, they're different moments were different issues, really moved to the forefront. And we just have to be one way raises really at the is really up front. I will let's go through. I mean, some of those those four I guess, you know, I guess the fault lines and in what for you in terms of like political polarization since seventy four Kevin most example FIS or or there was an event or a crisis that you could relate to that particular faultline. That's a great question. I mean, they're they're Catlin's. We could use the one that I think is really lesser for me is the is really the two thousand election and not just in the way in which it revealed of that how closely divided nation wasn't terms of politics. But it gave us a language to talk about it. Right. When those electoral map stayed up for I, you know, overnight minimum next morning then on two weeks and finally December where silicon of maths we came up with for knock of red states versus blue states, right? That right. Was that was that new then because I don't recall it to that. Yeah. Yeah. It used to be the networks, do whatever they want it. So you know, when Reagan get reelected in nineteen Eighty-four. I think David Brinkley on his show talking about how the map looks like a giant blue, California, swimming pool. Right. And so they never could flip back and forth. And that just happened that year that the color red was given to Republicans the colored blue was given a democrat go back past years and time magazine in nineteen Ninety-two shows Bill Clinton's election and all the democratic states are red, but just because two thousand one where we kept talking about blue states, red states, blue states, red states, like Dr Seuss rhyme, right? It becomes cemented in people's minds. And it gives us sense that these are two real warring camps. They literally have turf. Julianne? What do you think about that for you is at that same moment or or a different one? Well, there's lots of moments for me, and obviously relevant now as the government shutdown in in nineteen ninety five and ninety six where where we had had some short government shutdowns. But during that year, President Bill Clinton in office Republicans have taken over congress in ninety four new Gingrich's, the speaker of the house, and they have this terrible stalemate where we enter into the longest government shutdown that we've had and all of a sudden what would have been outside the spectrum normal politics. Just having all these offices closed and services gone is is normalized. It becomes part of how the parties are going to do their combat in that case. The major issue was Medicare funding. And so for for me, it's it's a policy battle that. Really?.
