"We've missed a real opportunity here for at least 20 Republicans to join with the other Democrats to pass the most robust infrastructure package that we could have, and I'm still very dedicated to it, and we'll be working through my committees. To see that we at least get legislation to back this up. I am extremely disappointed because we offered the president basically what he asked us to do. The first time we met with him, which was a trillion dollars over eight years, including baseline spending. And that it wouldn't include a tax increase. And those were our That was our red line. Not his. And the last offer that I got from the president had four tax increases in it. So that's Shelley Moore Capito, who is the other senator from West Virginia. And she has been negotiating with the president about an infrastructure bill and those negotiations have broken down. We'll talk more about that later in the program. We're here with David Belle Isle, and we got a texture and saying, Please spell your name so that he can look you up. Absolutely. So it's Belle Isle. It's It's two words. Sorry about that. But it is its capital B E L L E. The next words capital. I sle so unusual name, but I've had it all my life. Yes, Absolutely. So David Bell Island. It's spelled Belle Isle. Two different words. B e l l E i s l E. So that's how you can find him. And then, of course, we'll be posting this interview along with an election page on access Wdun, so you'll be able to go back and re listen to anything we may have talked about. And we try to do that throughout the election season. Anytime we have these folks on we get the interviews. We post them. We allow people to go back and listen to them. Access. Wdun is one of the most successful, um, online news sites in the state, if not in the country, And we're really proud of the work that we do here. Um, you know Jay Jacobs with such a visionary at the beginning. Of this. We've had a website like this for over 20 years, and it's you know, it's just through their commitment to 24 hour news right here in this community that has, you know, been there, so it's great. So I know we're talking a lot about elections, and there are other factions, other things that happen with the secretary of state's office. But I really think you're going to win this primary based on your position on elections and how you communicated. I mean, I would wish that all the other things were important to But that's where it's going to be. So what else do you want people to know about how you would approach this if you won this primary and went on to win the general? Yeah, and and you have to forgive me because everyone is focused on elections. We were focused in terms of our messaging on that. I think there's still a large opportunity. To utilize this office as a leadership platform to champion Georgia jobs and and to help communities all across the state. That's still in my heart. But right now we have a hole in the boat. Yes, and we have to plug that hole and so You know, we talked about Dominion and some of the other things I want, and I'm an attorney by trade, and I think this job needs an attorney. Um and one of the things I want to see done is I want to work with the Legislature to create an elections court. I don't mean that we need to create a whole new system with a whole new level of overhead. But having the governor or some other authority a point for an upcoming election, uh 123 judges who can hear election matters and a very expedited timely matter. We hear so often certainly from the left and from from anyone who hasn't dug too deeply is like, well, all those all those cases in Georgia were dismissed what they were dismissed because once the election was certified First at the state level in the U. S Senate. They became moot. Or are they, in other words, meaningless? Um, because they could not be heard or resolved in time. Once that certification takes place, it really doesn't matter. Unfortunately, what happens and so by having a special elections court. You could have judges, Spirit court judges that would be appointed specifically kind of like a special master to hear those election items and resolve them before they don't mean anything anymore, And I do believe I think that's Critical next step in terms of winning back trust with respect to our elections. So Josh and North Hall said What can be done about counties like Fulton with all their election problems? Yeah, well, the good news is a Senate bill two. Oh, two, and I'm sure you have talked about it on your show. Has has been a little bit little bit well. It's been signed and it's into law, and obviously we haven't seen it play out just yet. It's too soon for that. But it enabled the state Board of elections to intervene in counties and I do believe that they wrote that provision with Fulton in mind the chief among them And basically it allows the state Board of elections to to basically intervene and set the the management of those elections up and then get them fixed and write it and then ultimately to hand it back over. It should be a local government thing. But for those counties who can't do it right, and it's always Fulton that comes up in that conversation. We need to be able to get in there and look under the hood, and every time we try to look under the hood. In fact, Fulton County into this current lawsuit is trying desperately to keep anybody from looking too deeply in this forensic audit request. We We, You know you're never going to win trust or have people having confidence in those elections until there's transparency in Fulton County has very little, if any transparency. So what is the status of that audit? My understanding is so they they, the judge awarded the the right to do a forensic investigation, which means look at the actual ballots that were done for partly looking at you know whether they are Authentic whether they would actually creases and those type of things the Fulton County, uh, quickly hired of some very high priced attorneys to try to shut that down. I don't know what the status of that effort is. Obviously, I'm hopeful that that will you know, if if for no other reason, just the transparency issue. Um there is investigations. You mentioned that the court idea, I think is a great one. But, you know, we still have investigations going on into 2016 cases. 2018. I'm sure that I don't know if they've even gotten to the 2020 once yet. Do you need to be beefed up if you're secretary of state because there's been a lotta There's always a lot of, you know, hearing and Yang between the budget process and the secretary of state's office, and sometimes people are in favour and out of favor, and it's reflected in the budget. Okay, so what should be done about investigations? How should they be handled? Well, I do think that the secretary of State is the chief elections officer, and they need to be empowered. And then they do have investigative abilities and and and they have a department for that. But there needs to be more resources allocated so many things come in. I think there's and I may have this number wrong. I think there's three investigators for elections and it's just there's too many things for them to chase. And I think our current secretary hasn't done a good job of prioritizing what's important a lot of time. It's just kind of first in, you know, last out kind of deal as opposed to looking at, Okay, this is an item that may affect 500 votes versus something that may affect two or three votes. Um And those those are the kinds of, uh, priority decisions that need to be made. So what are your goals We've got about a minute and a half left just any goals and how people can get in contact with you in any final thoughts. "Dawns, and he can't make contact issue well, and everybody like Mr Caucus and cost. Ya knows everybody had their moments where it seemed like they were on fire. They were just never all at the same time, and then we'll worry. They has that moment like Moustakas started out on fire and advantage. It's um, injury a couple day back and Castano's once they figure out, throw him low and outside, sweeping breaking balls and member Aquino last year, a soon as the the other team said. Don't always do the fastball throwing breaking balls. He can hit a breaking ball. I mean, it's what about the base running? I mean, was that one of the worst was that the pickle at home will steal what you're going to go. Go. Yeah, I mean, I mean, he could have walked it in the rest of the way while they were dicking around of second base. And what was that? But you know what, In again, David Belle's going to get crucified. He is he has all year and I'm not here to tell you. He made good maneuvers with pictures early. But I blame and David Bell for the last couple days. I mean, what do you suppose to do? You've got all these dudes in there. Get some Dan on paper. I know He's gonna be a hot commodity on the free agent Moore could take some other guy's money. Let them go. And so I like the attitude. I know he's a Lou. I don't care that Dude wants the ball and he is at that performance by him yesterday, read. I like the Tomahawk. They need attitude. I have no issue 12 case. Was it 12? Yes, without a walk with no walks with no walks in seven and two thirds innings. Well, I don't know, And this comes down like he said, Belle. And now you know, we're obviously going to begin overthinking the Bengals, especially if they don't Well, doesn't over thinking this way. But let me ask you this because I asked Lance earlier on the whole I said, are you do? Are we just a city of coaching experiments? Is that what we do? What? Why is it? We can't just not make that a question Mark anymore? The offensive line coach of the Bangles one question about Bobby Hart yesterday. Basically, talk about what a jammy eyes the God. Is He watching the game? I don't know. You ask a great question. I don't know. I mean, I think coaches make a discernible difference. I really think they d'oh. But I also think at the end of the day, you either have the players to win or you don't. But there's a difference between an Andy Reid and Zach Taylor between guys like Rex. Okay, And I mean, does Joe burro have the same weaponry that Patrick Mahomes does, including the line? "He's arrived on the scene now and he gets the start in Game one as the Braves try to snap a 10 game. Losing not 10 Game 10 round losing streak in the postseason as the Reds and Braves go ahead ahead. Today in Atlanta. The Braves take the field on the other side for the Reds, and we'll talk more about him when he takes the mound, but this is a big start for the Reds and Trevor Bauer. But at the same time you almost feel like this is the type of situation that he really thrives in. Yeah, I think that that Bauer lives for these kinds of moments, I think, And I still believe this that Even even one run early in this ballgame, Whether it's for the brains or whether it's for the Reds will really change the way either one of these pitchers pitch on. I think the reason I say that Is, if you have a one run lead, it gives you freedom to just cut it loose and just kind of let it all hang out. We've seen Bauer do that. He has been absolutely terrific. The Braves have seen Max free do that. He has been absolutely terrific. You're talking about two of some of the better pitchers in baseball. You look at the numbers across the board, whether it's the left hander freed or the right hander Bauer. The Cy Young picture is what you're talking about, And that tells you how late they are. Max freed, finishing up his warm up tosses the lineup awfully tough. For Atlanta. We know a lot about them. We've learned a lot about the Atlanta line up over the last few days, but the Reds lineup a little different. Nixon's Ln the leadoff spot today goes kind of back to what we were talking about before. Sometimes things are just different in postseason. David Bell feeling confident enough to go with sins? Ln the leadoff spot, even though he hasn't really hit well since returning from the Isle. Well, I think, ultimately for David Belle and for Nixon's L. This is the perfect spot for Nick, especially with a left hander on the mound, and I think that David is hoping that putting him in a position.

I have been the strength of our team are offenses fighting through this and the results have been better. We got to continue to work to keep that going, but definitely signs of life. Unquote. David Belle once again, Mohagher. Welcome to the Bill Cunningham's Omo How are you? I think this is my third time on this show in a week, So I'm doing well. Well, I like to get your analysis because you're kind of a poet by more of an historian. And when I look at the standings that appears in the national legs, only three teams where they worse record than the Reds. And my dear park Math tells me there's about 26 games left. And at this point do you have a sense that they're getting better going in the right direction? The offenses fighting through this We've got to get better. Unquote from David Bell, who I taught out a hit. Now tell me, Do you have a sense? The Reds are on the precipice of a great 26 game stretch here. I want to feel that way. There's been no evidence thus far to suggest that that we should feel that way that they have pulled themselves off the mat to a degree. I mean, you know, I don't want to know what it would have felt like I don't want to know what it would have meant for David Bell had they lost those last two games in Milwaukee and limp back to Cincinnati. 11 19. I think that that would have been interesting. I think that would have been interesting to see. What Friday would have been like Had they lost both games of that doubleheader on Thursday. Fortunately, they did not. They win the game on Friday night, but as has been the case this year that they're not able to sustain any kind of success, and I went into this weekend, thinking that if this team really harbored any any thoughts of winning the division, which obviously when you don't have to do to make the postseason, but if they're going to win the division, they had to win three out of four again Chicago and they didn't do that, and it's kind of in the story of the season so far. Win one lose one win to lose to win to lose three win one Lose two. They haven't been able to put together any sort of sustainable stretch. This series that starts tonight against the ST Louis Cardinals is enormous. Because ST Louis right now occupies second place by percentage points. They've only played 25 games. They've got a bunch to make up here over the next four weeks, but the Cardinals are where the Reds want Toby, and if the Reds khun finish in second place, they'll go to the playoffs. But, um, again, the inconsistencies with this team, the uneven offense, the issues. They've had shrinking their own margin for error. The issues they've had sustaining any kind of success. You are being fair. If you're skeptical about whether or not the Reds can put together a string starting tonight, which would vote them into a playoff spot. Look at it this way. I'm a numbers Guy. ST. Louis has 13 total losses this season. The Reds have 19. I assume the Cubs are gonna win the division. It looks on paper as if they're going to only 26 games left. So to make up six games and the lost column in 26 games with ST Louis. If you get rid of Milwaukee, which is Milwaukee has lost 18 the Reds 19. You got to start winning tonight and tomorrow. That's what I thought. Yesterday's game was bigger than Montana. If they could take thread of four from Chicago, that would make a statement that we're at home a little bit better than the best team in our division, and they they didn't lose. They got hammered 10 to 1 ends up with some clown on the mound, throw knuckle balls, and I'm reading the comments of my friend and yours. David Bell, who is a good man. If I wanted a Boy Scout leader and be David Bell, and he's maybe says different things inside the locker room and he says to the media, but he's saying state, Of course, everything's OK what 26 games remaining. It's hard to make up six games against the ST Louis Cardinals. If you don't start dominating the ST Louis Cardinals and the Reds have dominated the Cardinals, like the Bangles have dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers, which hasn't happened at all. I mean, come on, There's like their pounds No Blaine, Wyoming and football. It's not your way we saw a week and a half ago. What happened when the Reds went to ST Louis? I think the thing about yesterday's game. I mean, look at that. The lob sided nature of it doesn't bother me that much. Jose daily own came in and gave up a bunch of runs. He is not a big part of this team. Luis Castillo is and the strength of this team is supposed to be. It's starting pitching, and Luis Castillo is supposed to be a big reason why, and the reality is a CZ. Muchas people will tell you that Luis Castillo has been the victim of bad luck at times this year, and he has yesterday..

They needed production from the outfield. Brian Goodwin is a guy who last year hit 17 home runs. You can play every outfield position, um, top to bottom outfield production, at least off the bench. Has been a bit of a problem. If you've looked in some of these close games, the Reds have played some of the bench options have been, frankly, not majorly quality. That to me is what this is, it gives them Some flexibility. You know, Philip Urban didn't workout show Go, Akiyama. Has not yet worked out. At least offensively. Aristides Akino is back Askew. JJ of fan is as I am of him. I'm not sure you could put all your eggs in that basket, and they just needed bench help. You and Belle likes to play around with the lineup and changing stuff. So, yeah, I like to play around with the lineup and plus if, depending on where you use Jesse Winker who, if you don't know is going to start for one game suspension. I'm not sure why. For that little fake fight on on Saturday night. David Belle likes toe put guys in for defense late in games. He likes to pinch run. He likes to say, I think you have to give him a dimension of flexibility, which I believe Brian Goodwin does. The other guy they've acquired is and by the way, Brian Goodwin is here for a while. Can't be a free agent in 2023. So this is how does he know? Brian. Good when I believe is 29. Okay? That's stone. Yeah, right. Science. 30 should be his prime. It again had 17 homers last year. Archie Bradley is a relief pitcher who does one thing really, really well. He keeps the ball from leaving The ballpark for hundreds or major league innings. He's on Ly given up 37 home runs. He has not given up a home run, I think in slightly over 10 innings this year. He's a work horse. This is a guy who in 2017 pitched in 63 games and area of 173, the not quite as good the last two years, But you see 76 games 66 games and he's got a great beer. So what more can you ask for? And they haven't given up all that much? I think the big headline here is that they didn't trade Trevor right and wanted to ask you about that. So I think what 26 games left reservation. Two out of being in the picture correct quite simply their a game and a half behind the Cardinals, who are in second place. Now there's a huge disparity in the amount of games the Cardinals have played because of the covert 19 outbreak they had. They've only played in 25 games. The Reds are a game and a half behind ST Louis. All you gotta do is come in second place. So this series that starts tonight is enormous. But the Trevor Bauer thing, I think would have been interesting. I think it be interesting to see Did the Reds get phone calls for Trevor? Because there's a couple of different things here, eh? He's one of the best three or four pitchers in baseball B. He does not have a deal for next year. See he's going to cost a lot of money next year and the Reds are making any money this year. So what were they going to do with him? I think, though, that that after years of watching the Red's not contend they're still in it. As frustrating as this season has been, they're still in it. And Trevor Bauer is a major reason why I just said that then I think this year the management pushed all the chips in the middle of spend 160 million, like Why start pulled him back now? That's something I think you gotta go for. Even if it doesn't work out. I was just not ready to do the okay. We're going to start rebuilding again and you can get in. Just get in. Get in the dance. Yeah, Trevor Bauer and Sonny Gray right, as you're one, too, in whatever order you want. Louise Castiel has to pitch better, but I think it be interesting to see what kind of calls the Red's got. Ford Trevor Bauer. It's also worth pointing out the way things were structured. They can make him a qualifying offer, which is basically a one year deal. Healing does one year deals said he wants to do if he says no, the Reds get a compensatory pick back. Did a team offer something more valuable than that? But at the end of the day?.

"Dot com Don't get any money for saying that no money invested, accepted a monthly subscription that I pay. But it's really a terrific website, and I thought it would be a good time to get to know Sarah's on Because the major league Baseball trade deadline is it four o'clock tomorrow? Will there be any trades in this? Different season in 2020. So let's bring him into the conversation. You know, Sarah's How are you on this glorious Sunday? I'm doing good. The fire here, Korean clearing up a little bit. I've allowed to go outside run now. You know what Become increasingly important for my mental health. Um and I have an objection. The red still has a 45% chance of making the playoffs. Mostly because the National League is just really squished together and a good period could change everything. Well, we saw that at the end of last week when they went to Milwaukee and did what they did. Big doubleheader sweep, but still we're more than halfway into this this 60 game season. My point being is I've seen nothing and the first 30 games That would lead me to believe that they could rip off 678 in a row. Is that not important at this time because of this on Lee being a 6 60 game season. Well, I would say the starting pitching aside from rate Miley has good. The guy's like Tyler, Molly and TJ and home something name right and in a few other arms forward to provide depth, So there's there's been some good news in the pitching staff generally has reformed likely better there. You see they were affected. The problem has been the offense, which they spend money on. And have Today. Ford run left for game then projected for them, So I think it kind of rest monthly on the shoulders of rightness socket and you, Daniel Flores. Not so much joy Votto anymore because I think and I love Joey, and I think he's still A useful piece. I just don't think he's got the power anymore. You'll the resurgence, but stocks and swine. I believe in them, and I think they could turn out. Well, you saw really for David Belle. It was a dramatic move sitting Votto for both games in that doubleheader last week against the Brewers. I don't know if that was just to give him arrest. What to sit him for a double header. I'm speaking of Otto. And her in games that you absolutely had a win to me. That spoke Mohr than just a I'm going to give this guy a day off. What do you think? Yeah. I mean, I was making a ton of contacts, and he still has his expert eye the plate, but Because of the position. There's just so much breath put upon how much power and he can go. That I could kind of, you know, and I've been a devoted defender forever because I think he's one of North cerebral mine. I think it is working. The plate is still youthful best eye and they fall, Phil But you just kind of keep our from birthdays. Um and you know, I could be sitting in against lefties of and ah and just kind of Using him more parts than you know, remain engine and I think this is what clouds a lot of things that may or may not happen here. The deadline I'm looking here at the standings in the American leg you've got Ah, the way I see it. You've got five teams that are within 2.5 games of that final wildcard spot and in the National League. It's even tighter, so I'm not sure that's the barometer right now. But I think you know and all the respect to your story because I I really do think it highlights what every one of these contenders need. I just sense that there's going to be a lot of teams just saying you know what? 60 game season. I hang on to, for example, a Trevor Bauer and you know I don't slap him at the end of the year. I'll get draft picks for I think you're going to see a lot of that, don't you? No, actually, I'm breaking a story right now. As we speak. It's being edited about Of the data sharing situation, 10 teams of the 30 or least 18 of the 30, often out of data sharing for not even data sharing. Cows are not allowed into secondary alternate sites. And so now some council started making in. Ah, try and get a look at at people. Dollars are having a really hard time. Think about trying to sell for a prospect that you have. Ah, year old data on Or maybe you don't have any data on from this year or and you you haven't had eyes on him off years, so I doubt that. You know someone like Anthony Montagne Bear or Ryan Reynolds guys that the virus that the Orioles have their cellars. But those players have years of control left. And normally, if you knew you were gonna tell them that you were going to trace them, you wouldn't want a really good prospect actually leave them and how much you believe in prospect, So I have a hearing all the moves of the parental Romer. Yes. And on DH, more people hold, you know tight or the vest and you're just a few reliever Change place. The thing that I like about the red The red did show up on my piece when I when I tried to Show the biggest hole. No, I just looked at the depth chart said. You hear teams that have a chance of better than 30 Sen chance of making a playoff here the worst Part of their team. And red shortstop showed up as I think 29 or 30 in the league in terms of 2029, so they they went and got for the Garcia. Look, we're making a tank. That's the worst part of our team. I know this guy hasn't played organized my balls since high, eh? But we think he looks ready in the alternate fight. And you know, pretty 29th Every right now, the hard work, you know? Why would they not? Let's you're talking about scouts. Why would they not let scouts in and secondary site? What's the thinking behind that? I don't get I don't know. I mean, what is what is rob man for doing news to a sport? Why would why would you not allow? I mean that's a basic precepts? You might as well just say we're not going to scout anymore. You might just say we're trading in all of our jugs. Guns for I don't know, zinc compounds, you know, to fight. No, I mean I've been I think there was one person who says that there was an idea that maybe you couldn't say something unilaterally on that every team had to make a decision once every team had to make a decision. If I did not have doubts, because if the weird for one state that may be the more restrictive and say no, You can't have a house in there and then they're out in other states. I think that might have been the idea front. But I think at this point I think every state is at least Not locked down to the point where you could have scout and you can give them out doors for the most. I think everything off the outside excited outdoors. So you're talking about letting the people come and within, you know, 10 ft from each other. You know, you could have multiple entries like it's not that hard Note is, you know they have I have a friend coming to the stadium of and their wayward never thought about it much. Many people as ah scouts would represent, you know you'd be talking about I don't think you'd have 30 at every It's it's Raji said. It's my boggling. I don't know. Okay, So you know Sarah's the athletic dot com Your are telling. Are vast audience that air waiting on this game today. With the Chicago Cubs that at 45%, don't give up hope on the Reds, making the playoffs and my Am I hearing this correctly. Yes, And I'm saying root for stocking, I think socket..

"Your Cincinnati in Kentucky. Honda dealers. It's time to chat threads manager David Bell and David I know It's a tough stretch. You look at it. It's been five. You've been a 500 team over the last seven games, just trading wins and losses, but But no doubt you're hungry to go on a roll. What is this team need to do? Obviously, the offense hasn't been there consistently, but but in your eyes, what do you want to see from this group to kind of rattle off some winds and put the street together? Yeah. You just keep playing the game on. You know, there's no magic. To that, other than you know, the real magic comes from when you continue to work hard and stay together and support each other, no matter what no matter. You know what anyone else thinks? You just stay together and keep playing the game. And then and then you get on a roll on DH. You know things look a lot different. You know, we're Now where we want to be, um, over, you know, also a few games away from getting a roll. And you know, having a winning record, too. So we're right in it. Um, I get the urgency. Nobody gets that better than the mayor. Our team and we just have to stay with him. How do you prevent that urgency from turning into pressing Because that seems like that could be a dangerous balance there. Yeah, There's that it is. There's always pressure. Um, you know our players and coaches and staff of Not with that during your career. That's their ability to handle that, and To deal with that and to manage that has allowed them, you know, to have a job. You know you perform on TV every night. Everyone knows how you do and it's it's truly a great privilege to be able to do that. But it is something that we're always aware of. And that support for one another helps you manage that it helps helps you be, You know, Trade of Feeling and approach of courage throughout the team, and that's what it takes to play this game and that will get us through and that really want that's what's going to get us on the right path and and lied to the To the winning streak that you're speaking up. "From Tyler Stevenson and Jonathan India. Off reliever Amir Garrett. Manager David Belle talked about the lineup yesterday and was asked if it would look different when the left hander is on the mound, as opposed to a right hander. It'll be slightly different know if we're facing a left handed and right handed there, there are players on our team that are going to play every day, and it's not going to matter. Writer left and when we do switch it up. It's not so much. It's not all about not believing in our guys to be ableto. Play that particular night. It's moral You know, getting the other guys into the line up. The Reds are halfway through summer camp now in, Bell says, Everyone is getting used to the way new things are being done. Believe it or not, it does. Seemed more and more normal. You know, In some ways, I think it will always be a little bit for him. You know, throughout the whole year, just because something we've never done, but To the best of our ability. Um, you know, the players deserve Ah, lot of credit for this. We've made it normal. The Reds have one left hander into starting rotation. And that's newcomer Wade Miley, who won 14 games for the Houston Astros last season. The one thing Miley has shown so far, even during the Inter squad scrimmage is that he works fast. Yeah, it's kind of got a great my freshmen in college. I was a big thing we did. They continue to play in the scrimmage. Great American Ballpark 7.5 innings. Jesse Winker just took I pitch from Sal Romano off his elbow. See, I'm standing like as I am left off his right elbow and I didn't feel like it or didn't look like it felt all good as he walked down the first base and took off part of protection on that elbow, and he has now left the game. We're monitoring that situation. A mere Garret came in with Ah, runner on and walked four and gave up a single trying to read what I've written down now through my notes, and he left reaching his pitch limit he did not complete Thean ing, But I'm trying to remember now I can't read the scribble. I wrote down, but he did not retire a batter in the inning. So we are watching Reds baseball from Great American ballpark and take a listen to David Bell on a couple of different things here. Remember the discussion of the offseason aboutthe shortstop position, the backup shortstop position because Freddy Galvis is the starting shortstop who Might be the backup. Well, the answer may be. I think the answer was Kyle Farmer. Then he's going to be the answer now, but the answer is much more clear and definitive. David Belle talked about that today. We made a commitment. I made a commitment early on in spring training to see more of Kyle Farmer at shortstop, and we're really glad we did. I didn't realize and I didn't and I accept responsibility for not Really? You know, I knew he could play short, but not really, You know, taking it seriously, This guy can really play short. He could even play every day for an extended period of time at that position. We saw that happen in spring training and It started with a conversation I had with him and It was a great conversation. It was very respectful, but he was very direct, and he really believes his ability there. And it shouldn't take that. But it did. And I'm really glad he had a conversation with me because he can. He can really play there. So, um, he's definitely an option there. He could do a lot of things he can play. All the infield positions and catch But with the importance of that position and having depth there, it's great that he's shown what he can do there. We're more than taking it serious that he didn't David Bell earlier today, Remember they had Jose Garcia, the youngster who dazzled in spring training but hasn't played above a ball and is, I think he just turned 22. They have Alfredo Alfredo Rodriguez. An older Cuban shortstop prospect who has flashed with the glove but hasn't showed he's capable of hitting. Certainly at this level, yet we went through all the rumors of the offseason. What about Linda? Or what about other short stops on the final year of their deal? The Trevor stories and Kyle Seager's and Korea the Houston Astros. The only thing the only thing that would cause me pause on farmer keep in mind. He was a four year starter at Georgia and he played shortstop in college. He was a member of that team USA is a shortstop He played in the futures game is a shortstop, but the last time he's really played, any shortstop to any extent was 2013. He's played one inning at shortstop in the major leagues and has had one chance one ball hit to him. He played 10 games in the minor leagues at shortstop and his fielded 35 chances. He's never turned a double play in the minors in a regular season game. He hasn't turned a double play in a major league game. And yet you have the backdrop of his experience. Previously playing shortstop and a roster right now, that does not have an obvious backup shortstop beyond Kyle Farmer. Kyle Farmer also gives you the flexibility in the versatility of being able to catch and place short. I think it would be fair to say there's no other catcher in baseball whether he's a second backup catcher, 1/3 string catcher that can also play a major league shortstop. And you can play other positions as well. The other name and I asked Tommy throw all about him, because honestly, everybody's talking about him is Nixon's L Nick Jack, one of the upper deck yesterday. Great American ballpark. He took advantage of the period during the quarantine to get healthy. The shoulder which he had torn the labor and had surgery is now completely recovered. He's going to be ready to go and use the time off those three months to get healthy and do even mohr conditioning and really work on the body, and he has Impressed of this point, David Belle talked again today about what Nixon's L has done to this point. He's playing with a really healthy edge to him, which I think is a big part of Who he is and will be a big part of his success is a major league player. I think we all learned a lot about Nick. What I think I have a lot of us forget, you know he's so talented and I mean, you know he's been such a exciting on player that expects so much You know, we've had forgot that it was really his first time in the major leagues. He's planned. A new position for the first time and his credit, He handled it great. You know, we tried to help him with some adjustments and hand it all that great and in the end, and you've got to go out and Believe in what you're doing. We're all here to support him, but I think he really believes in what he's doing right now. And, um, play at this level. That's the most important thing. You know you have people to help you. But in the end when you stand in the box or you Out competing at this level. It really has to come from inside, and we're seeing that from there. That's that edges. It's coming out on DH. I love it. David Bell earlier today on the Zoom call. I am bullish on Nixon's L, um As Tommy throw, alluded to rookie season a year ago, was asked to learn center field on the fly as a rookie in the major leagues. He wasn't dabbling in experimenting.

The home to get the L one two three. Double play. And it just looked like a completely wasted opportunity. I'm listening to your comments about bell saying it was a well pitch game. I thought at one, I mean at one point, I believe it was in the fourth of the fifth inning of our twenty more pitches. I really feel to go seven maybe maybe eight innings and it just didn't happen. And then you bring in the problem is in, in not that it's in David's defense, but Louis Casteel in that six inning through thirty eight pitches. I mean he he laboured he struggled he, he basically emptied the tank and got out of that inning. But he would he was spent at that point after the thirty eight pitch hitting. And, you know, I'm going to bring up something that's maybe not on your radar and maybe disagree with me, and do all respect that, but, you know. He is after the comments in the clubhouse about how he's not being used properly. I know their staff out there that I guess, his X amount of performances. He hasn't given up a run. And he's got a few saves but immedi tonight. I just when he came in. I just kinda felt like this. Is it? And it's a it's a shaky feeling. I mean to, to his plus side, the last twelve times he gone out he hadn't given up a run. But to the minus side, he can't e kit be an excuse to non save situation. I'm not fired up. Rahm, not focused. I'm not ready or I should be in this Brad hand. They're closers, going to the all star game was pitching in a non save situation. He pitched two innings and struck out. Four say Lacey's has to fix his mindset he's because he's going to be called upon in games that are tied in his job is the keep the game tied any can't do that. I agree. I'm glad you called. I'm sorry. I was so wound up tonight. But please call sometime I will definitely tweeden. Thank you purchase. Check it in the sixth inning for you. If you're wondering any went six innings four hits one run in maybe the reflexes may. Why do they take him out through one hundred nine pitches and it's really not even though hundred nine that six thinning he had not walked a batter. And then he walked back to back batters any found himself with the bases loaded and one out in it. If you were watching listening. It took everything he had he emptied the tank at that point. He struck out Ramirez with just a filthy change up on a lengthy at bat, and then he got Jake Bowers looking at a slider in a lengthy at bad. That was the one hundred night pitch of the game but was the thirty eighth in the inning. I mean think of that, if he went six through one hundred nine of the average in thirty eight of those were in one inning, David bell went to the bullpen and look at that point, look what you got for. Michael Renton boom boom, boom. David Hernandez struck out five in two innings. Boom boom boom boom boom in again. I don't want to. I don't want to pin this on rice glazes. Does he have to perform better in non save situations? Yes. But bottom line here. This team scored one run. One run, we can't bang on the pitching a night where the offense produce, one run in a month of June where their averaging two runs. A game say to get it's just a damn shame what this offense is doing to this pitching staff. Right now back to the phones, Kentucky we go, Jamie. You're on seven hundred wwl w. Beside myself right now. Seventy five. Here on the. But it's a shame that they're wasting all this pitching. And I've got. Down here my on radio. And I've got more money in game on there. You know, I don't know how many people actually here. Commercials. So of always been doing it for like seven years. But if this keeps up a probably won't be next year and I hate to give up on, but it cost me so. I feel your frustration. Jay means a lot you called. And I certainly thank you for listening to it again. Sometime. I feel it in his voice. His voice extra innings is brought to you by western and southern financial group hoping to make Cincinnati, the best place to live work in joy life. It would appear well definitely now for the fifty eighth consecutive day. The reds are going to be in last place. I actually had there was some some excitement in some optimism this morning looking at the game notes, and I thought, well, wait a minute. If the reds win tonight and the pirates lose to the Braves, the reds will move out of last place. They've been in last place for fifty seven days. They're going to be in last place. For now fifty eight days, by the way, I looked it up last year, they were in last place. All, but two days of the season March, thirtieth, and thirty first with the early two days last season, they weren't a last place tonight they could have moved out of last for the first time since April the nineteenth of this year, they do not, they suffer another one, run loss nine and fourteen in one run games. This offense. Now, fifteen times has scored one run or zero one or zero one or zero. It just it makes your head hurt. Ed, just the, the approaches in the off. Balance swings in the spin around in the, the flailing wide open, and instead of trying to make contact and go with the pitch. It's just so I mean, Tommy Manzke would wanna throw up watching these team. Eleven thirty bottom of the hour. It is the Kelsey Chevrolet, extra innings show on the home of the reds, NewsRadio seven hundred.
